  • I don't use it. Honestly, it is the only challenge I will leave undone for the Tomes.I don't like the perk, I feel like its a consolation prize that is unhealthy for the game.

I'm actually with the OP here. I had someone trying to get the rancor challenge with Spirit last night. Right at the beginning of the game (before the first gen was done)they cornered me and blocked me, and then they slugged me and just camped my body, following me around where I crawled, letting the other survivors work on gens just so she could get the rancor.

Of course, my team mates weren't complete pepega's, and one got me up. I ran to a locker and Narnia'd that #########.

Like, honestly, if you're going to play like a dick just to get a challenge done, I'll respond in kind.

Wow, what a miserable person to play that way. I would have done the same, waited until all the gens were done to buy my team time, then dc'd. No rancor for you.

  • Teammates are much worse than any killer. I run Kindred so I can often see my teammates doing nothing but hovering around hook when the killer is camping and I'm on a gen. I understand wanting to save a teammate, but a killer will have to choose to leave or stay when he hears gens popping. Don't let their sacrifice be in vain. Also, insta-save (farming, just because you have BT), running the killer towards a hooked person is my #1 peeve. I can understand running toward a gen that is being worked on, how would you know? But everyone can see the red outline of the hooked person.

Not being able to run the killer doesn't trigger me very much. Everyone has bad games, or those instances where they get caught out of position. And not everyone is a runner, but do gens if you're not in chase. For the LOVE OF GAWD do gens.

  • When the bug was in the game that made you get stuck in the hooked position even after you've been unhooked. I 'ran' around the map from a wraith, floating through the air with my teammates behind me trying to take a hit. Somehow I ended up floating out of the exit. Good times.

  • Personally, I'm going to go for the David Adept if I have to run that perk. I've been putting it off but no time like the present. I agree with OP though, No Mither= easy down and killers almost always tunnel them to death. I may bring a toolbox and try some sabotaging and stealth.

  • Adam needs some love out of all of the survivors. You may not like Meg's outfits but she gets them regularly, including a vest on Level 35 of the rift. I'd say her outfit with the buzzed cut on the side and the dark half jacket was really cute.

I don't really watch survivor streams but I have a question about Noob. Isn't he a convicted hacker/cheat? I know he has been banned more than once. Why does he have such a high following?

I think he he got into some trouble showing map exploits and griefing killers on youtube. I don't believe he has hacked anything. He disappeared for a while but when Noob3 returned he was somewhat reformed and he doesn't break the rules anymore. He has a large following because people admired his skills. Despite everything he is REALLY good at survivor, but I suspect like Zubat is just good at games, period. Also, unlike other streamers he doesn't really censor his chat, so his 'fans' can say or spam just about anything without fear of being banned. He has a lot of followers but I don't know what that means in the way of 'subscribers' for him.

  • @McLightning said:

If you watch some of the biggest streamers and think they are god tier survivors or killers in the last...you need to look closer.

I'll actually go through a few here...

ANGRYPUG - He's mildly above average. He has the most escapes in the game (which is actually true), but he also plays more than anyone else. It's a time based thing. If you watch him play, you'll see his spins are, for the most part, awful, and as a killer his main playstyle is tunnel/insidious camp. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not skill based in the least.

Vince - He's an average survivor and a below average killer who has amazing gimmicks and entertainment value (Officer Leathercock, anyone?).

Cahla - She might be the most wholesome DBD streamer you'll see who isn't StreamDad_, and as a killer, she's decent, but she gets tired of killer quick these days and switches to survivor, where she is slightly above average as a survivor.

Tofu - I mean, he can be good. He's like any of us. He has good games, he has bad games. He's unlike most of us in that he doesn't take it personally and throw his PC out the window when he loses. Though, he does seem like a survivor main who plays killer rather than a killer main. He has this "i won't use spirit fury because it's unfair for survivors" attitude. Mostly though, he performs as good if not slightly worse than your average killer. Great guy, though.

The only god tier survivors are really No0b3 and Zubat (and Edgar to an extent - he's an amazing looper. Still a shame what BHVR did to him). God tier killers are Marth, Zubat and...well, really thats it. Hexy is a great killer too but he uses tactics survivors don't approve of.

What I'm getting at here is that DBD isn't a hard game. You can be as good as them with a fraction of the time.

Agreed with most of these. Zubat is a gaming prodigy. I watched him play some Apex and he was just the best thing on the team with very little effort. Some people are just good like that. A lot of the best killer mains have over 5k hours on one killer. If you can't master Huntress, or Billy when you play ONLY them for 5,000 hrs, you may just be bad at the game.

One survivor who I think is on par with No0b3 is Al Boyo, but he plays around a lot and tries for techs, but if he played seriously he'd probably loop killers to oblivion.

  • My theory is that a trifecta of things 'might' be affecting red rank survivor lobbies.

1.) Matchmaking. If a red rank with 3 non-red rank friends queue up they get a red rank killer, in theory. The three spots that the non-red rank team members take up are 3 spots that can't be filled by 3 red rank solo players,

2.) Ruin was carrying some people. If it didn't get purged in the first 30 secs of the game, you might have won on gen speed alone. Now they are deranking faster for lack of pipping or not ranking up at all.

3.) The change to rank reset means that more survivors are in red ranks than ever before (it is easier to pip as survivor), but it is not true of killers. There is now less red rank killers to go around. Months prior to this it was red rank killers in long lobbies, but now it is the other way around. ( I also acknowledge less people may be playing killer.)

So those are my theories of why this is happening. If there are no red rank killers available you just get thrown or matched with the closest regional killer, green ranks in most cases, lower purple in others.

  • I don't know how complex their coding is, I have never worked on games or coded for them, and I wager not many of us on the forums have either. Judging one fix, that was recently broken, against more complex fixes that might be affected by several variables sounds like a rush to judgment.

Just to be clear both sides are frustrated by lingering bugs. If the devs could wave a wand and fix them all, I'm sure they would.

  • @Sylorknag said:

Is there a consensus that only survivors send hate messages?

At least on PS4 I've only gotten hate messages from survivors.

Maybe on PS4 I don't have one so I can't speak on it but on Xbox I've had plenty of messages from killers accusing me of tryharding or not being that good at the game because I ran them a little. Or if I die rubbing in the fact like I care. I chock it up to more children being on the system than when I play PC.

  • I agree too many survivors are bad ( not saying I am great but I do okay) but then I realize that not everyone has been watching good survivors on twitch or youtube. Whatever they know about the game like how to loop and evade the killer they learned for themselves. From rank 20 to 14 it's rare to have someone save you if it risks their own skin outside of swfs. Survivors struggle and give up on first hook. These same survivors go on to dc on first down in higher ranks. It's awful but I don't see it changing. I expect the basics from teammates; do gens, make saves, attempt to run the killer. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

As killer or rather as a survivor playing against killer I expect them not to respect pallets, to close down loops, to mindgame, and to camp the hook once the gates are powered.

    "I have chlamydia"

I'm laughing so hard I have a cramp in my side. OMG!

  • I had a game tonight with a player that escaped through hatch because I decided not to slug. 3 gens up btw.

He messages me after the game: I escaped.

    Me: Good for you.

Him: You didn't catch me. (the last time, I got my BBQ stack off him already)

Me: Oh nooooo how am I going to sleep at night?

Him: I don't know, and I don't care. It must suck to suck this bad.

    Me: Get a life

    Him: I do

I think he ran out of gas after that

Me: Blocked and deleted. It was so ridiculous I wish I had just started off with a block. I got a good laugh out of it.

  • I would add to the huntress suggestion Queen Kuro, she's a great example of keeping a cool head as Huntress. ScottJund is also a great Killer main to watch and Runningman, another example of a calm collected guy to watch. All of them can be found on Twitch. Painreliever is a youtuber that posts quite a few, simple 'how to videos' on how to properly run a tile, use certain killers, and mindgame survivors. I'd suggest also watching some survivor gameplay or playing yourself so you can get in the mindset of how survivors think. It was the main reason for me to play killer. I had no idea of their limitations and powers until I played myself.

  • That's a little hard to believe Kai. What rank are you if you're just starting out? For four hours you get nothing but SWFS with OoO and commodius toolboxes. Why not just dodge after you notice the pattern? If PS4 is anything like xbox you can check profiles with the click of a button and see that they are friends/swf before the match. I do think that SWFs are more prevalent on console, tho. Console players just have the mentality of playing with friends and also tend to be younger in age than pc players. Also, as a huntress if they are teabagging at pallets or windows, that's primetime right there. How are you not capitalizing on them standing still?

I too am a survivor main just getting into killer, but you may want to try and switch up your killer if you notice a pattern of OoO players. Ghostface can't be seen with the perk when shrouded. I think its the same for pig when crouched and Freddy outside the dreamworld. Doc will make them unable to use styptics in tier 3 madness. Also if you see a lot of medkits and suspect swf, The Plague might be a better choice too.

  • I mean how often is this even happening? I main hag, and you only need a flashlight to give her hell. You can burn Wraith before he uncloaks, and no one else's trap has the ability to completely incapacitate people. So in the instance the stars line up "you see the trap, you're already injured, and dedicated servers don't screw you over" you dead hard over it. That's a smart play that rarely ever happens. Trapper needs help with his setting up speed, not the occasional dh user stepping over his trap.

These are the players you cater to! I ignored the guy all game to not use save stacks and even after wiggling out of my grasp he still abuse when I get that 4k with trapper on a bad fps map like Hawkins. Was the game miserable or just the toxic message after? Report him if he sent you a private message. He likely has not even reported you but sent this message to get a rise of you, which he did. There is NO multi-player game in existence that can 100% protect you from toxic people. This player, if he was a killer, would probably still send toxic messages to survivors if they escaped him, It's the person, the player, not the role. This community would do well to stop making camps and sticking a flag in the dirt. Yes, you will encounter more toxic people if you play killer. It just so happens these jerks tend to play survivor more because they can grief as long as they like without having to worry about three other players. Killers rarely have that luxury because as they deal with one survivor the other three are doing as they please.

  • Enough with nerfs on both sides. Focus on fixing the problems with the game e.g. matchmaking, disconnects, latency issues. Buff weaker killers, rework old maps, come out with the next chapter with killers who are good like Oni and fun to play against, and survivors who are good but don't have game-breaking perks like Yui.

  • @Nutty_Professor said:

So from what I get from the community is that slugging is viewed on the same level as camping and tunneling. Whilst I'm a red rank killer I am a survivor main, I don't see the problem with slugging. Slugging is the result of the survivors team incompetence. The only reason slugging can happen if the survivor team allows the killer an opportunity to slug.

If I down a survivor and I see another survivor nearby, and I believe I can down that survivor quickly, I'll slug the downed survivor and go after the other survivor. It's a great way to create map pressure, as I have one survivor slugged, I'm chasing another, and the two survivors potentially working on a generator have to get off the generator to get their team mate up.

The only issue I see with the slugging is when the killer is slugging purely doing it just so that the survivor bleeds out, for no reason other then to be toxic.

Generally slugging shouldn't be viewed as the same as camping and tunneling. Sometimes as a killer I'm forced to camp and tunnel, I hate doing it and I'll apologize to the survivors at the end of the game. I'll never feel guilty for slugging.

I think the only reason it is seen as bad as camping is because it is camping in SOME cases, but instead of camping a hook you proxy the slug and wait for someone to pick them up. It is not very often a killer will move away from the slug (except Oni) unless they are chasing off someone who came to save the slug. Now, if survivors would just do gens and not run to pick the slug up, it would not be so effective. However, if you don't pick up a slug you run into the risk of having two slugs. It's hard to know what to do sometimes . That is where 4 man SWFs can be very powerful, its it the greatest anti-slug strat there is.

  • Hoping for an answer one day.

  • I usually ask facecampers if they want to talk outside of the game. We spent so much time together I feel they we have bonded.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Minor point of order about Hags: we don't know who set off the trap. Most of us are just spamming control and swinging as soon as we come out of teleport. It's what her power does, not necessarily the person doing it.

As hag I personally set down one trap to slow down the save. Sometimes when it activates I don't even go to it. I also never trap the basement but I will trap the corner of shack.

  • The only bm I feel matters is intentionally sabotaging someone's game by sandbagging, holding them hostage, or messaging with a rant or insults after. I could care less about your spam crouch.

  • People have ruined it by flapping arms when no one is around. So the rest of the players who think it signals camping won't come or they will because it didn't mean that last game. I regularly run kindred and I still get three crouched with everyone off gens when I'm getting camped. :(

  • I don't think survivors are toxic because it is easy. People are toxic because that is the way anonymity allows most of them to be. They don't have to face consequences to their actions in most cases. My clinical director likes to tell our team that crime is not deterred by severity of punishment but certainty of punishment. Now if course this is not as serious as actual crimes but the end result- feelings of helplessness, isolation, and being targeted can feel the same. Can they get banned for some of the stuff they say in post-game chat? Sure, but will they get banned...probably not.

Some of these people that sit in the entrance and spam crouch after EGC are the ones who talk junk and grief kill in other games such as GTA if given the chance. It is fun for them. There are even fulltime self proclaimed sandbaggers who have bought the DBD 3 or 4 times due to bans. I reported 2 of them and they are still playing. Playing both roles does not always stop this behavior. I have seen killer mains bm and vice versa. This behavior will always s uck to people who don't subscribe to bming as having fun, but growing thick skin and limiting your exposure is a good way to protect yourself if you want to last in dbd.

  • Wanted something unique and all names I chose on twitch were taken. My name used to be nudjinneration but no one could pronounce it. New generation. Also people mostly call me Fee or my Xbox name Jupiter which was assigned to me back with the 360.

  • Autohaven; I really dislike the wall of cars on Gas Haven but I realize that is the point. It's a very uninteresting map. There are massive deadzones on almost every map, usually by a gen. I'd like to see different layouts, and maybe interesting touches to the environment like a burning vehicle, neon lights, hub caps, swinging chains and car parts used as decor. I'm hoping one day devs will vary the look of the generators in all maps.In Autohaven they could look more rusty or like car engines.

  • Yesterday. Got lucky and killer tried to take me to basement. 2 feet from the hook I wiggled out.

  • Go for more bp if I can't get in my kills or escapes. The challenges help in that regard. Hey my team is going down like a house of cards, but if I can get in my heals for the challenge, not all is lost.

  • If I am being tunneled, Iike fresh off the hook, barely got my pants up, I will run the crap out of buildings. I don't care anymore, my objective is to buy time for my team and myself. I don't run DS so going down would be bad for me. However, I like to see atleast one obsession in the match because a lot of killers assume I have DS and slug me.

I don't usually run anti-tunneling perks unless it is happening game after game, after game. Then I switch to my DS so I can atleast get from under the hook if need be, or I will switch to a healing build with a medkit. I've been able to heal up a teammate before the killer comes with botany, medkit, we'll make it, and resilience if I get hit before the save. That at least gives them a chance, also I will heal while looping or BLoS if I can. My normal build is Detective's Hunch, Inner Strength, Spine Chill, and Kindred.

  • I straight up play Yui because of her cosmetics. I think she looks badazz.

  • Also as a new killer, it is hard to ignore toxic behavior. I don't include flashlight saves, BT, DH, or DS with toxic. That's a perk and not toxic, but when you have survivors twirling in a circle in front of your face, get swarmed by a team, clicked by a flashlights, and other annoying things I try and take a step back and think. Okay, everyone is here. No one is doing gens. I'm about to bust all these fools in the head. I've taken down people at the exit gate because they wanted to BM rather than leave. Use their toxicity to take them down. They're going to spam crouch, flashlight click, twirl in a circle. Just like a killer get's so enraged they get tunnel vision, a survivor can get so cocky they forget the next loop. Another thing I have learned is ignore the cocky one that can loop. When you get his friends who are doing gens while you're distracted he/she will come to you.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

Most likely Bill. I mean c'mon he endured the zombie apocalypse.

Other than Bill, I think Tapp would survive a while. His police training probably gives him a leg up over the others.

Agree about Tapp. He's got the training to deal with intense and stressful situations. Self defense training and could probably coordinate the other survivors better than Dwight. Second survivor would probably be Jake with his wilderness survival training and his ability to fly under the radar with iron will and calm spirit.

  • Did you tape this and go through it with a stopwatch to get the seconds of each event or are you just guessing your chases lasted 20 seconds?

  • I can't believe survivors are still complaining about NOED in 2020. Expect it on all killers and you won't have a problem. I do, even I don't trust Billies now so Detective's Hunch is part of my kit. On the flip side survivors have a right to equip what they want to.

  • @Coder said:

Good thing survivors are not toxic though... could you imagine? tbaging, clicly clicly, pointing, "ez" on the end chat? That would ruin the game.

There is a thread for that somewhere here in the forums. I think the main ones were Claudettes, Neas, and Dwights. God forbid we talk about the other side on a different thread. Because yanno, killers can't be toxic. 🤐

  • The big boys: Clown and Leatherface, but mostly Leatherboy. Ghostfaces are making a decent running though.

  • There are no toxic perks. There are boring builds, and superior game-changing perks which some could argue should be adjusted, but using them is not inherently being toxic. The point of Unbreakable is to get up from the dying state when no one else can help you.

  • The only thing I like about the Kate outfit is the hair. I don't even main Kate, and probably never will, but I share in the thought they could have kept it more country and less discount Halloween outfit. I'm mad they can give Kate nice hair and terrible clothes but can't do anything with Nea's hair but make it a tragic mess on her head in some obnoxious color.

  • Depends. If a person is selfcaring and the killer is camping me then I can understand that. There is no way they will get me down if they're injured. If the killer is onto someone else then yes. I assume you are referring to the latter. I've run into less SC scenarios lately playing solo and more fully healed players bunching up together and running around like chickens because they hear the terror radius. SC doesn't seem to be a predictive factor in my game as to whether my teammates will come for me or not.

You've never fought hard enough. I was proud of that Paranormal Activity refund. Which we just spent at the food stand at the AMC. Principle of the matter.

I know for PSN you can get a refund if it is upto a month old purchase in the US if you call daily (long story). But 1+ year(s)? Ha no!

The issue of live service games is that they change. Anyone who has been an online gamer since the 00's can tell you that. (90's most stayed the same tbh). Online parts of games can drastically change.

Was there more to the refund than just not liking the ending? Something wrong with the theater, audience disruptive, bought the ticket but had to leave in the beginning? I worked at a theater for 6 years from 16 until 22 years old. I've seen a lot of people wanting a refund after seeing the movie. Never happened. Even in the case that the person had to leave due to an emergency they were given a voucher to return for a free movie in extreme cases, never a refund.

Only hollywood doesn't come and change my movie 10 different times and ######### it up worse than it was. Think before you answer.. 🤷‍♂️

Before you can even play the game you are offered a long wall of texts which explains that the devs reserve the right to change the game as they see fit. If you clicked okay, then you agreed with the TOS. Therefore any changes that might come you agreed to 'take that risk, and here is the result."

SO whether you enjoyed the game or not, and you did, unless you have been playing for less than a week. You've seen the movie. You just didn't enjoy the ending.

I did think before I answered, you will not be getting a refund. Good day, sir.

  • Whether you enjoyed a movie at the theater or not, you cannot get a refund after you have seen the movie. Apply the same concept here.

  • "Because I play this game and want it to be balanced and fair transparency is needed from BHVR, however it will be likely I will have no idea if I have played against or with great, good or new players."

Isn't this something you will determine during the course of the game? There are good rank 1s and there are terrible rank 1s. Time played determines rank in the end, not skill. A rank 10 can have more hours in the game than a rank 1 if they haven't played in a few months. The only way to know if they are new, experienced etc...is to click on their name and check their hours. What we have been doing all along is just assuming a rank 15 was a newbie.

As for SWF, nothing will likely be done to tell a killer they were/are against a SWF as it would lead to dodging and longer queue times for everyone. I don't know why everyone is convinced killers are leaving the game en masse. Killer queues used to take a long time in higher ranks for some people before the matchmaking changes and nobody was afraid survivors were leaving the game.

  • As killer, unrelenting...because I'm trash and a new killer. lol Also, I don't have the perk build I want on my trapper or hag yet.

As survivor wake up. A very overlooked perk that rarely comes in clutch. Most of the time I don't even get to open the door. Any Means Necessary. Most pallets get broken anyway, but if I'm playing Yui and the killer leaves a pallet down, especially a good pallet, they're going to regret it.

  • Why ask how people felt about ruin? They only had to come to the forums.

  • Oni, Myers and unpopular opinion hag.
