  • What? You'll have to explain what you mean because it doesn't make too much sense.

The input is not bound to the screen refresh and you are meant to press the button/key in advance, taking into consideration the travel time for both the arrow and the button/key.

You'd have to have maybe 10 FPS to have an issue with that.

  • Maybe check you ping and, after the next release, your packet loss.

Lagging is often an advantage for survivors but not always.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

There's no struggle phase because it would be a complete waste of time. That said, I'd have no complaints to the final survivor just getting the 900 Survival points.

It should be put on the suggestions part of the forum.

People are salty if they win and people are salty if they lose. There is no pleasing them. Ive seen worse insults and ive gotten worse insults. Just kill them with kindness never lower yourself to their levels. Sarcasm and kindness works and they usually quiet down :)

I do still think the game should apply a mini ban to people like this. Some insults and slurs we get here are horrible and some people might be in bad headspace to take them.

It's true that some apathetic reply or a nice one with some <3 can take them by surprise and disarm them.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Okay, so what you do to these types of survivors is that you ignore them. They did not even say anything interesting. How could you possibly humor them? I commend you for finding a way, but it was such a waste of your time. It was just a generic "you so bad" which you get when you 4k them at 5 gens, by the way. Not sure if you were aware as you seem relatively new, but that is like their basic defense mechanism. And also lol at mods saying this is not against the rules but penalizing me for calling survivors Mickey Mouse types. I guess I should just get more vulgar and maybe I will be fine.

I absolutely don't get the MM part.

SWF doesn’t imply coordination or cooperation well either. If they’re not good individually, voice isn’t going to help them much.

In one of my teams, survivors weren't very good individually but just getting information about the killer position and telling whose turn it is to go get downed while others did gens was a huge advantage. To get a 3 or 4 escapes.

As you say they weren't always listening though, trying to do a save that wasn't smart giving another kill to the killer.

In another team though, I was the least skilled survivor (still around 1.5k hours at the time) and we weren't on comms. We had more escapes because everyone kind of knew what the others were doing just by experience.

  • When your true adversary is the map and not the opposing team ...

  • Just tried it, without the Mori : very nice, very fun.

    Thank you.

  • The time of day has always been a factor.

Usually queues are shorter for survivors during the day and shorter for killer during the night.

My killer queues are at most one minute during the night and maybe four or five minute during the day.

I tend to view map offerings as a signal that we're both trying our hardest to win. Not necessarily playing nastily, but where I might've been nice and ignored someone who ran into me accidentally post-unhook in other trials, I'll capitalise on that mistake more if the team played a map offering. Ditto for contesting unhooks.

It's not, like, retribution or punishment or whatever. It's just that if you're gonna use all your available tools to try and win, I'll answer that by doing the same! Sometimes those trials are even quite fun, honestly.

That's what I call "nastily". Using any mistake, any weakness, to crush the opponents.

My usual rule is to play "nice" and only start killing at 2 gens left (with some exceptions).

    @Phasmamain said:

Map offerings just need to go. Especially with prestige changes getting vital green add ons is quite hard now

Dbd's map design isn't solid enough to allow players to choose maps

Someone once suggested map offerings should do the opposite: prevent from going to that realm instead. It felt like a good idea. Although it should probably not be cumulative or survivors could banish four realms at once.

Welcome to the club, as for me I'm forced to play mean ALWAYS, hence why it's already a miracle if I want to do a match par day...

Why forced? Not that I blame you. There are more disadvantages playing nice than playing harsh.

    @[Deleted User] said:

It's tough. It's put people in a bad spot on both sides when a busted offering is played. The killer probably wants to sweat to punish the Ormond offering, but there might be some solo players in that lobby who had nothing to do with it.

Ideally, the lobby system would be akin to Overwatch. Map is announced, and then there's a 1 minute window to set killer/survivor and builds. But apparently players love the surprise element, so we have to have a 50% chance of having fun in any given trial, whether that be a pointless killer/map combo or pointless survivor perk/map combo

Would love that. I'd tune my build a bit. Take a nasty one instead of a balanced one.

If it's current RPD then I'll be dodging. Though what I hate is that every little thing seems to tilt me now. By that I mean I have trouble getting over the smallest of things. Dumb teammates doing dumb things is enough to make me feel like I'm bubbling with rage.

Maybe you need some variety. I sometimes get that feeling but the game isn't the real cause. It sometimes happens to me when I've been overworked for several days straight and I'm simply tired. Sleeping more, going to walk for several hours, ... usually fixes it. It can be just me though.

Just because something is allowed doesn’t mean it’s not rude. Even though I’m allowed to flip you off on the sidewalk for no reason it doesn’t mean you’re not in the right to think I’m acting like an a-hole.

You don’t have to be “sheltered” to think the person in the chat was being a jerk.

Rude, yes. Banned for that? No.

  • What? That's all? These are just badly raised brats being rude, why do you even care? They are nobodies.

I was expecting some death threat, or someone wishing something sick about health or about having an accident. (I've reported a survivor for using that level of nasty speech to an underperforming teammate yesterday.) This, however, is nothing.

How will you react the day you are confronted to something that's really bad?

I've already read you don't want to grow a thicker skin. That's your prerogative of course but life with get harder if you don't. You cannot seriously expect to be sheltered forever.

Dude, giving hatch has been etiquette since as long as I can remember. The game's inception, maybe.

If you don't, you get salty people telling you off in postgame.

Shht. Avoid eye contact. It may be contagious.

  • Not really.

As survivor, I get around 50% wins (solo, I used to get more with my team) but all I usually care about is to do saves, one gen or two and whatever rift/daily I'm supposed to do.

As killer, I want chases first. If however the opposing team has sent me to a bad map I'll play harshly.

  • I'm curious to try it.

You want to enumerate all the maps that sucks?

The Game? Crows? Garden? Mother's? Corn? ...

  • It happened a few times already, probably not on purpose though.

The most notable one for me was Oni. Great killer for two weeks.

The next one will not follow that path though. It feels average, at best.

  • Most of the time.

Exceptions are made for macro-clickers, teams sending me to a bad map and useless survivors who didn't do a thing for their team.

  • Sounds wrong indeed.

It's weird because I've seen a recent video with Devour Hope where the killer did a mori before the totem got cleansed and he couldn't mori afterward. Maybe a random glitch or it has another trigger condition.

edit: I suggest checking the feedback for bug reports about this. If there is one already : vote for it, else create one.

  • Insulting players who enjoy the game because of your ineptitude and/or dissatisfaction will not give you any points.

You don't like it? Move on. Hey, there is a free 4vs1 available right now. You have the choice waiting forever as one of the 4 or play the utter mess that's the 1. Enjoy.

  • Beside the fact these are valid tactics*, most of the time they are a self-inflicted wound. When I play survivor, not even 1 game over 10 has a mindless camp/tunnel killer. However the number of survivors making unsafe unhooks, healing at the worst possible spot, keeping on gens instead of healing or going to safety when the killer comes, ignoring hooks until the last limit to eat a hook state when the killer punishes it ... is staggering. The killer isn't a babysitter : choices have consequences.

The problem I have with Starstruck is the perk generates free killer pressure/slowdown just for existing

Like a nurse with a 40M TR picks someone up and now moves from the pickup spot to a hook, anyone within that 40M range is now exposed just because the Nurse picked somebody up. It's 20M but it's a moving 20M which is a lot when you consider how far a surv with agi can be carried

This is why I think stealth is an important way to counterplaying it and SA removes that

Your "free" scenario uses 3 perks slots on a killer that's already pretty damn slow to begin win.

That new perk will be good against scatterbrains, nothing more.

  • Depends on how much I play survivor. Two to three weeks.

  • Getting hit by a Starstruck is not exactly something that happens often. Usually survivors run and hide when they get the notification. (Except of course scatterbrains who don't last very long ...)

It will be the same with that other perk. There is ample time to get some distance.

Besides it's like BBQ : the perk exists so players need to take it into account. Discordance is a thing btw.

Every Nurse player that I've spoken to (after our match) has been an insufferable dick to me and to my teammates and since I'm not an amazing Survivor, I don't find them much.

Not much of an opportunity to practice, I'm afraid. I'm sure there must be more nice Nurses like you, but I must just be unlucky.

I'm not "nice" by a long shot. It depends on what I have in front of me. But that hasn't anything to do with this. In essence what I mean is that playing a Nurse is usually a big step to verse her. I believe you have friends (or followers?) and you could play all together to try her (or any killer really). When I used to SWF, my friends trained against me and it was enough for most Nurses (and I was half as experienced as I am now)

  • @Pulsar said:

Well, you know, I'm glad that people with 8K hours in Survivor who knows the animations and timing of every Killer can do well against Nurse.

    Really, it's good for them.

Unfortunately, 99.99% of the playerbase doesn't know that. I'm honestly pretty much done having this discussion with completely biased and delusional people (who I keep humoring for some reason), so I'm going to head out before I say something I'll regret later lol.

Doesn't need 8K hours. I've versed survivors with 3k hours that had no clue, and I've versed some with 600 hours that were playing well. As I've befriended her, I've learned one of these "low hours" survivors that were trouble played the Nurse regularly so they had a good feel of my next moves. Not forever of course, but long enough to be troublesome.

  • As a rule of thumb: when in doubt, report. (With additional player information and video)

  • Given how unlikely it'll translate to the game, anything I don't care about. (It's a pretty short list. FNAF maybe? They can ruin it as much as they want for all I care)

  • I've pulled it off several times, usually by playing like a beginner to encourage boldness.

    However with 6.1.0 I've added a twist.

Everybody expects a bad killer to have NOED.

NOED now has a nice aura after 24 seconds.

So I've taken Bubba (who else) and played like an idiot for four generators. Missing hits, eating walls, switching target whenever he was certain to go down ... and bold they became.

Then, by "sheer luck", I've downed and hooked a survivor next to the gates right before the last gen popped then I've opened the gates. They've waited for the NOED aura (they had a lot of time after all), popped it and came for a save, that I encouraged by moving around instead of hard camping. I've downed two, moved around like if I was looking for the two others around (I knew they were already gone) while the two slugs were crawling away. I moved one away, then, when the time was right, hooked the other.

    Game over.

This tactic has worked several times already. Sometimes I need to let one go if I mess-up the timer or I hurt one too many. But NOED really helps delaying them because they know they don't need to search as much anymore.

  • They are always good for a laugh though.

I love how bold they get when they think you can't play. They are also the main reason my perkless Nurse was upgraded into a Franklin Nurse. I play nice because one look told me they weren't good, they get bold and down the flashlight go. Sometimes they even try to get it back immediately 😆.

Yesterday night I was speaking with friends on Discord but I still wanted to mindlessly throw a few hatchets. Of course I wasn't very focused : just enough to remember to not tunnel (chill mode).

A Dwight with a flashlight didn't read the room and started clicking. He was sooo bad it made me laugh. Right after his second down I cross-map downed two teammates (aura perks) and he still came back clicking ... only to go down in one hit (healing is for dummies I guess). I wonder who he was trying to emulate.

The most puzzling thing in all this though is why the hell was I pitted against four very inexperienced survivors.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3136203#Comment_3136203

    Correct.

    without prove thyself:

    1 Survivor: 90 seconds

    2 Survivors: 53 seconds

    3 Survivors: 43 seconds

    4 Survivors: 41 seconds

    withprove thyself:

    1 Survivor: 90 seconds

    2 Survivors: 45 secoonds

    3 Survivors: 30 seconds

    4 Survivors: 22.5 seconds

It makes gens pretty damn fast, remember it takes about 30 seconds to walk from one side of the map to the other. After downing a survivor, picking them up and hooking them usually takes around 10-15 seconds.

Puts things into perspective when you compare this to Thanatophobia.

If they've changed Thanatophobia, they'll probably change this.

    edit: bloody autocorrect

  • Onryo. She is next to useless.

  • It's always the most incompetent and useless survivor who writes that kind of crap.

I couldn't count how many times I've been told to learn to play by the worst of the four dead players, or a worthless teammate.

  • Because of the MMR woes, I regularly play "too nice". I usually regret it because the next team is even weaker.

In the end : 3 kills, one hatch is the "best" you can do if you want to play interesting matches.

  • You'll have to give a timestamp because I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

The big issue survivors complained about was the shorter blinks. But it is a noticeable nerf to her sustained map traversal speed, because it will take her longer to charge the max blinks.

”We” also haven’t been dancing around this. If you don’t think it will affect how you play, then that’s good for you, but I certainly will not be patrolling the map as much anymore, and I will feel zero pity for survivors for my increased proxy camping.

It only takes a second or two more to travel, at max range mind you*. You'll see, its really not a big deal for traversal (what these addons should always have been about)

    Are you trying like that:

    https://youtu.be/BMs3fqiQn74?t=119

Your really underestimating console players here. Controller ofcourse requires more skill than mouse to aim hits but clearly does not make it imposible. Not everyone likes playing on headphones and really only killer which requires that is spirit. I play on console and 3-4K most my games on any killer. Ofcourse there is few limitations I can't exploit bugs oni 180s or blight hug tech and what ever hillbilly has. But that's on bhvr not fixing those or just allowing everyone to use them. We can't use stretched res either but that benefit more survivors. I have always wondered how some survivors know your movements as killer but they use this game breaking exploit to see over walls and obstacles you normally won't see. Which allows them to extend chases much longer. Console needs better optimization.

Just a note about the headphones. I often find hidden survivors just hearing only their breath, with any killer ... or survivor for that matter.

Not required, yes, but strongly recommended.

3: The addon change lowers Nurse’s map traversal speed, which encourages her to proxy camp more, and proxy camping is more reliable than leaving a hooked survivor to patrol generators.

Not significantly. The biggest issue was the smaller reaction time allowed for survivors in a chase.

"We" have been dancing around this issue for a while but even now, I know I don't need the range addon, if I agree to play very unpleasantly that is. (A few tactics, boring for both sides, in the real sense of "boring" for once.)

I'd argue it's not too different from PC. Sure, there are some maneuvers you can't to on console. (I swear it's almost impossible to 360 on console.) However, as long as you're willing to improve, it's not bad at all. This is all coming from someone who has been playing on console sense Stranger Things came out.

I find 360 way easier to do on the gamepad than on the keyboard/mouse. (And I'd rather play killer on k/m than gamepad). On my console account I almost exclusively play survivor.

  • @Ryuhi said:

The best way to learn how to play against a killer is to try playing them and see how better survivors blow you up.

There is such an ego trip in this community that people are unwilling to do even that, because it would likely involve them getting rolled as said killer, but they would be too frustrated/proud to actually learn anything from it. Its easier to just cry for nerfs and hook suicide, and then be a sore winner when you either win of your own volition or get carried by having 3 teammates.

Even very good solo survivor players will still have things to learn if they play killer from time to time, especially since they'll have the perspective on what to look for at any given time. If they refuse to play the other side occasionally they're only limiting themselves.

Indeed, a player can only really improve by playing both roles.

    @mischiefmanaged said:

Something to remember is that a lot of people play the game casually and a lot of people play on console too.

For people who play casually, survivor is often the more casual role. And some will just play with friends. They really have no interest in "becoming better" because this is a video game and it's not like any of the skills are transferable to something in real life. It's just a fun way to kill time. And for those on console, they have the additional problem that killer is much more difficult to play on console. It's much harder to flick the joystick to hit a spinning survivor. Most probably play on TVs where they use the TV;s speakers rather than headphones and headphones are much more important for killers than survivors (except against Spirit).

And most of the people at P10 are probably just people who casually play the game. Heard about the Prestige update and heard about the rewards. Then used the anniversary to get their main to P3 before the update which causes their main to be P9 L50. Then you level up one bloodweb and you get P10.

I'd agree that for those who enjoy the game and want to become better that playing both roles helps. But a lot of people just don't care because it's just not important or they don't really enjoy playing the other role so why spend your free time doing something you don't enjoy.

It makes sense. It's weird that I get grouped with them though. It doesn't even makes me angry, just puzzled.

    @rvzrvzrvz said:

Hopefully, that's why I've said "possibly". They have to somehow fix the glaring issue. Many propositions were done, all valid.

Have you never been grouped with trolls bent on ruining the game for other survivors? I have. In one of these instances, the killer actually joined with them. The additional information video was quite long.

This perk, as it is now, would stretch that same video to hours.

In fact, if I'm not talking nonsense, the addons, as they will be after this update, will be as they were some time ago; nurses will have no trouble adapting, since that's how it was in the past 🤗

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3134930#Comment_3134930

There is a double benefit to the fact that range addons no longer increase speed.

First, it will allow the nurse to have a better grasp of his environment, during the tp, as it will go slower than currently 😉

2, it will allow the survivors to have more time to get to safety, and prepare their escape 😏

    "Old" Nurses, no.

Sadly. I'll be one of those 🤣. I was starting to learn nurse before the range change, but I was always a double range sloot. After the change. My nurse gameplay took off for obvious reasons. While my nurse is filthy ATM. It'll take some adjustment on my end to fix my muscle memory for the slower speeds.

The muscle memory* itself shouldn't be affected, but the rhythm will be. Nothing that a few matches can't fix. Although, you are right. Since it takes more time to reach them the landing spot will have to be adjusted. (And will be more difficult since they have more time to react)

Before the last change, I used double cooldown whenever I really wanted to win. (Not a guarantee but helps against survivors who know how to play)

Although her speed increase does make a big difference but i agree that her blinks counting as M1 is the main issue here.

With the increasing number of instadown perks (Starstuck yes) and aura revealing perks, it's a joke.

I can't wait to see the nurse with starstruck and that new Wesker's perk that reveals survivors when picking up a downed one. Imagine this combo (Starstruck combined with ability to see survivors around you after picking up then having infectious fright, oh dear). With good nurses, i can safely say that games can end in less than 2-3 minutes.

I never needed that perk to finish a game in two minutes. Clueless survivors do it just fine. (My record must be around 90 seconds. Four guys on a gen above the basement, me popping in game almost at blink range, a grab, Starstruck hit, chaos and sandbagging ensure while I drop my grab and then two downs one of them simply walking.

That being said, it has already been shown it will be easy to handle.

Wellyeah i know that and have also advocated a similar mechanic for those case.

Gate: if all living remaining survivor are in a certain distance of the open gate (and not in chase or on hook) -> they get thrown out and the game just ends. The distance has to be setup far enough that if they want to avoid this out of petty then they are at risk of getting caught (but this needs also regulation depending on the killer aka nurse/blight/billy)

Hatch: If the survivor is in view of the hatch and the distance of the killer doesn't allow interception -> survivor is sucked out and game ends.

2dead/2alive or in general: If there isn't a SIGNIFICANT amount of progress done for a certain amount of time either the entity takes the survivor that have given up on active escape or EGC triggers. (Significant as in way more than just gen tapping)

And last but not least, a fixed max trial time limit of 20/30 minutes.

These proposals are interesting but so easy to botch I would be wary if they were implemented.

I'm not even sure what "view distance" would be as sometimes survivors have missed a hatch that was right next to them. I also fear it would be very easy to exploit by cheaters.

Instead of the EGC, just send the crows.
