If you are getting disconnected often enough, even unintentionally, that the time gets too high you shouldn't be playing until you fix your connection. You are ruining many games for others every time you disconnect. You are complaining about your time lost due to dc penalty, but consider the time you wasted of the other 4 players in the game you just ruined.

imagine i upvoted this post 100 times

op if you're DCing a lot, stop playing and fix it. you're ruining game after game for your teammates. complaining that you don't get to ruin more games than you're currently able because of the penalty just looks weird.

more forgiveable on killer since the game just ends in that case but still annoying to bring bp offerings to a game and it gets cancelled.

  • i still feel like oni existing doesn't justify nerfing billy. oni is oni. billy is billy. they weren't competing, dbd isn't a team shooter.

Some of yall will openly admit to things on a public forum I wouldn't reveal under fairly structured torture

Of course! I don't come here just to force people to read my poorly disgused fetishes.

    Vore is scary!

i don't know!! not a lot of people would call it "vore" unless they meant, like, voraphilia. but then i wouldn't really know what else to call it.

the idea of a killer that you have to sneak up on to release the survivor trapped inside kinda owns though. and while the survivor's "hooked" inside of it, it's going around pestering gens and hitting people. interact from behind to stun it for 3 seconds and release the trapped teammate!

God the idea of being eaten alive is downright nauseating. There are a few times that you see something like that just browsing the internet. Even putting movies aside (And without going into too much detail) I've sometimes stumbled across clips of wild animals eating other ones, and my god nature just does not care about it's living or dead status. As long as it has meat, and it can be torn off, it's good to go. Pelicans eating things in one gulp? Hate it. Saw a clip of a komodo dragon eat an ENTIRE animal like it was nothing. Man the other day in real life I saw a spider make it's approach on a struggling praying mantis that landed in the web. It filled me with so much existential dread to see something so full of life about to die just like that. (I of course freed it, I have pictures too! But I won't clog up this thread with that.)

To continue, you're entirely correct, the idea of being eaten as a human being is dreadful. Being eaten alive, while still conscious, screaming, and struggling, the concept of potentially being alive inside and feeling being digested. Like whoa, god I hate it so much. I feel all sorts of things that I can't even describe in words. I'm sure most people do.

Realistically though that's why a vore killer is perfect for a horror game like DBD. Horror is a great way to face our fears and discomforts in safe ways for acclimation or exploration. For a current example. I absolutely can't stand the Artist. I don't mind birds but the body horror of artist with the bird-like movements upset me so much I look at her red stain and never her face. Don't even get me started on this horrific sounds. I swear sometimes when I'm trying to sleep I hear those howls echoing in my mind like a song stuck in my head. I'm sure I'll get desensitized to her one day.

You have a great approach to the concept and discussion.

you made this thread and you're not even into vore?

i am and i wouldn't have the guts

    kudos

    I'll humor this.

It could only manifest as a mori, you'd think. Unless the killer just nibbled off a bit at a time as an alternative to hooks (like PH's cage) leading up to the, uh, final consumption. Or Devouring? And what about the in-game effects of being partially eaten? If the killer ate a surv's arm (for example), would they get permanent hindrance?

I don't think any of this is likely to happen though, for myriad reasons. While perhaps...exciting for some, it might cross a visceral line for a lot of other people.

Also, would you consider the Dredge's mori something akin to vore?

I did just have a visual of the cookie monster in game eating survs like they were cookies on Sesame Street, so thanks for the laugh.

i really don't want to be making a semiserious post in this thread of all threads. but.

you said "[amputation and vore] might cross a visceral line for a lot of other people", but we have some killers doing some nasty stuff in this game both as gameplay mechanics and as moris. in terms of mechanics, plague takes the cake, eats it, then regurgitates it directly onto everyone else's faces. we now have wesker, who fills survivors with worms. pyramid head's cages have an argument here. and then moris? hooh boy. clown and the way he severs different fingers based on your survivor's gender which definitely implies sexual intent. dredge... you know. plague literally vomits into peoples' open mouths. artist forcefeeds you birds which explode out of your stomach. the list goes on.

if this game were shying away from things that were gruesome, i certainly haven't noticed. so i genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, do not see why a vore killer would cross the line. a monsterous frog that coats people in digestive juices and when they get too covered they become mori-able like sadako and he just eats them? honestly i'm. i'm not seeing many reasons as to why not.

and. may i just be daring enough to suggest.

if they do add a vore killer it might be first time a killer gets added and people are eager to play survivor.

  • there's no gentle way to say it, but

    i genuinely care so little

  • you mean your archive challenge might make you throw the game?

jees. survivors have never had to deal with something like this before.

  • i really hate spirit's passive phasing.

  • windows took me from going down in 15 seconds to being able to run killers until they give up or lose 4 gens and decide to fully camp me until i die. it's an honestly amazing perk. you don't need open handed for it either.

one issue i have with it is that sometimes it covers pinhead's box's aura. and when the box aura turns yellow i mistake it for a window a lot. but other than that it's perfect.

p.s. devs please make pinhead's box aura turn red

  • i use the lunar new year tiger statuette... tigers are one of my favourite animals and i love all the tiger themed cosmetics. i switched to maining Jake as my survivor after getting that sweet suit with the golden tigers on it. i use the little tiger statuette with it and no other charms. 😊

  • this was a while ago, back on hawkins lab. for those unfamiliar with this map layout, there's a stairwell that leads to a set of offices upstairs with a generator. patrolling it is annoying, so i never bothered, i'd stick to the gens on the lower floor.

i was playing as doctor, and my build was all the bloodpoint perks because i was still DEEP in that grind and had only a few perks, which means BBQ, distressing.

one survivor's dead, the other two are fighting for their lives at like, 3 or 4 gens to go. i hook one of them and i notice, out of the corner of my eye... there's a claudette, upstairs. the upstairs gen is already finished, it was one of the first (i don't care to defend it). i see her aura for just a second, and then i see it climb into a locker.

i immediately stop playing against the other two survivors, i go upstairs, and i open her locker. yep, she's in it - the claudette i haven't seen all game long, who after one survivor's already been killed and two gens are done she has yet to even have a stage of madness. no stages of madness against a distressing doctor at mid-late game? at this point i figure that she fixed the upstairs generator and has been camping in that locker ever since, dodging my blasts by hiding in it as soon as my terror radius comes up and otherwise just wiggling around the room to avoid getting idle crows.

i hook her, of course. and then i facecamp her. i don't want her escaping, she's basically been selling out her teammates all game long.

one of them comes up for what i think is the rescue, i shake my head at her, and she comes up to the claudette anyway. i don't hit her because i want to stop the unhook and let both of them out, so the best way to do that is with a grab and then drop her. she comes up to the hook, and just starts teabagging the claudette.

loved it. huge smile on my face. claudette dies, they take turns fixing gens / fake chasing while she rots on hook (i eat every pallet stun + break them all, after all i was on a bp farming build) and then they both leave.

i always feel bad for the survivors when they get a dead weight coward on their team who's purely playing for the escape and is helping noone. as soon as i notice that's happening, i kill just the coward and let all the remaining survivors go for free. and i love when the survivors have clearly been mad about it and come support me in my endeavours.

at the end of the game i believe the claudette had perks like iron will, self care, urban evasion and left behind. lmao. if they weren't all console players, endgame chat would've been extremely funny.

  • "the killer should lose when they're winning" ?

the killer is playing this game too. it's not an AI, it's not a robot. it's a player who's performed well, done their job, and are experiencing success. and you want to pull the rug out from under them because... what, you want to win?

it's a pvp game. it's on you to not take it so seriously that you'd post on a forum about how your opponent doesn't deserve to have positive outcomes as a reward for their accomplishments.

i'd be on your side if you were talking about all 4 survivors up but it's a 3gen that the killer's been patrolling from the start with their 4 gen kick perks that refuses to commit to a chase and is bleeding out the game slowly but surely. but what you're suggesting is just not fair.

And almost everyone thinks the whispers are too loud/harsh on the ears - just like Billy's saw.

if as many people thought that as you imply, then i would have heard about this opinion much quicker. as it is, this is the first time i'm hearing about either one.

maybe just turn your game volume down.

  • the whispers are intended to cover up the noises of sick survivors so that they can hide from you while you are capable of wiping out the team.

  • yeah it's pretty silly. I'm All Ears is a good example of how it should work.

  • i like it a lot. the more mobility a killer has the faster their gens go, to give slower killers time to patrol at the same strength. it's equity.

the goblin in my brain says "and their hook states should take longer, too!" to encourage them using their mobility to go find someone else, but let's not get crazy i suppose haha

or do the opposite and nerf the 2 that seem to be a little out of line.

survivor is only as fun as it is because there are killers that can compete with them. if we nerf nurse, blight spirit and artist then we'll need another round of survivor nerfing. honestly, just take some L's and drop some MMR and you'll see plenty of killer diversity.

  • i've been playing oni for the first time recently. he's been fun to try and figure out.

but my MMR on him is hyper boosted because my dredge is very good, so i'm getting sweat squads that are... i won't say they're bullying me, but they're doing so well that they actually feel the need to apologise in the end game chat, and honestly in a way that's worse than them being mean 😅

still, i'll always be the killer diversity hire. even if i see 3 medkits in my lobby right now, uh oh.

  • give him more than a couple of days and you'll figure it out

  • counter-request: could the men also moan like that while injured? only leon's doing it. equality means all survivors moan while injured, not just the girls and leon.

  • i just want the halloween 2018 music to be used for the terror radius & chase.

Dont need to turn my words, I never wrote and meant this. And yes that way Dredge is now forced to fully bloodlust like any other Killer on certain dropped pallet, in your words "fun" right?

i've been playing a lot of dredge

i rotate the survivor so there's no tiles behind them, place the remnant on one side of the pallet, then walk to the other side of the pallet, and the survivor inevitably has to choose between getting hit or getting hit.

bloodlust doesn't kick in by the time i have them downed. i don't really know why bloodlust is factoring in to your dredge plays but i think there are better plays that don't necessitate its use. try placing your remnant in a way where they have no choice but to get within lunging range and herd them towards it with your body.

  • i would love it if every hex perk also had a non-hex variant that was weaker, and had some kind of activation requirement. i'd also love it if some current perks had hex variants that were stronger, and lacked activation requirements or durations, needing to be cleansed.

    for example:

hex: corrupt intervention: the three furthest generators from the killer at round start are just blocked, permanently, until the totem is cleansed or a survivor is killed.

ruin: for 60 seconds after hooking a survivor, unmanned generators regress at 100% speed.

  • i haven't had a real killer main since they removed old freddy - a killer so purposeless that the devs decided that he shouldn't even exist. and yet, he appealed to me massively, and i thoroughly enjoyed playing as him. and while they've added a similar killer since (i'll let you guess what i'm thinking of here), it's just not the same, and as a result, i don't enjoy playing as them.

so he's "like demo". but he's not demo, is the thing. oni is "like billy", so why do we have oni? does every killer need to appeal to every single person? no, they don't. do you like every single killer the game has offered you so far? probably not. if the new one doesn't appeal to you, that's unfortunate - but i would say it's an unrealistic expectation for every single killer they add to appeal to you.

some people are going to love demo because he shreds pallets. some people are going to love wesker because he vaults them. both players deserve to have fun.

now if only the next killer had all of old freddy's mechanics

who i'm going to report if with the new option you can only block the player? no option to report ingame

the report option is the little thumbs up/down button that appears when you mouseover their spot on the end screen. it opens the menu where you can either "give props", or you can report them under various categories. if you report them for cheating, you have to take a video and send a followup ticket to support. mention in your ingame report that you're sending a ticket, and mention in your ticket that you sent an ingame report, otherwise they probably won't respond to it (or at least won't respond to just one. perhaps if they see someone get 50 reports for cheating they'll look into it without a ticket, i don't know how things work on that kind of level)

  • @OrangeBear said:

Both Artist and Spirit are described as a "vessel of vengeance". Never killed anyone in their life but their life was so tragic that they take revenge out on random people in the entity's realm.

I hope we actually get a female killer some day that kills people out of their own will. Pig is great at that but she's licensed.

i see that you support women's rights and women's wrongs

  • you can still report cheaters.

in the process of reporting a cheater, they ask for your ID. then, presumably, they'll go through your match history and find the game where you reported someone for cheating. you can report crossplatform this way, which is a concession i'm sure they made when they released the game on epic.

streamer mode won't protect cheaters at all. it'll only protect streamers.

I disagree, the killer should see it, the point is to encourage them to leave the hook, if i see the survivor lit up in white, i know i should probably chase after the other guy or i'm just going to lose.

    @xni6_ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3164286#Comment_3164286

i think its good the killer can see it. it gives the killer counterplay, which would be leaving the hook, which allows the survivor to get unhooked, and if the killer doesnt leave, then thats 33% of 3 different gens potentially done.

the bar being white i dont think is the way to do it. if they wanted to make it easier to notice, i think making the survivors aura on hook turn white if their timer is paused is the way to go (i feel like it wouldnt be hard to do)

personally i disagree. i feel like reassurance is at its best when the killer is wasting their time waiting for a hook stage that's not gonna come for a while. i also like to use it to get extra progress on a gen that's next to a hooked survivor - knowing they're lit up like a beacon telling the killer i'm on the gen discourages me from using it that way.

if the killer's decided to camp, i want to punish them for committing to that decision, you know? i suppose i just want something different out of the perk though, haha. i don't want them to see that it's active and change their mind on the fly, i want them to commit to a decision that's bad and stick to a gun that's not gonna fire.

perhaps i just want something different from the perk, is all. either way it's strong, and has earned a permanent spot in my loadout, so i guess i'm not having too bad of a time!

  • i like playing as twins!

    theoretically.

when i do play as twins, i'm harshly reminded as to why i actually don't like playing twins.

yes to some twins changes. maybe doesn't need to be a whole rework, but like... yeesh.

  • @xni6_ said:

in case they never do this, you can tell a hook timer is paused since therell be a flashing red box around the bar. this happens when slugs are getting carried/picked up by teammates, when kinship is active, when reassurance is active, and when the unhook is happening (there may be more but this is off the top of my head)

so its not perfect, but there is a way to see

that is good to hear. perhaps it'd be nice if the bar turned white, though.

also, apparently the killer can see the survivor lit up in white? that's annoying. they shouldn't get to see that.

  • huh?

can you post a video of someone staying on hook due to this? i'm having a hard time believing that your second stage lasts forever so long as someone keeps touching your armpits.

  • it's been really bad lately. i used to consider it thinly veiled toxicity & negativity but now it's just outright toxicity & negativity.

i don't think our mods are secretly talking smack about people though. that toxicity would slowly begin to reflect in their work. i used to moderate/GM an mmorpg and whenever colleagues of mine showed disdain for certain players or the playerbase at large they'd start moderating with the intention of punishing, rather than with the intention of keeping things safe for everyone. i feel that hasn't been happening here.

  • i'd love if playing killers gave certain survivors higher chances to be the obsession.

on those rare occasions i am playing as Myers, if there happens to be a Laurie in my lobby, i'm always sure to let her get away. injured, but alive.

  • i just think that letting people show off their prestige levels is a good thing, and if anybody is toxic to anyone for any reason they should be reported. there is no need to take features away from everybody just because a few people are always looking for the latest excuse to be nasty. those people should just be removed from the community.

  • also, bear in mind

the only people that can really make good use of the bug report section is the devs. other forum users can't really do anything except upvote a post. we're not the ones responsible for noting and fixing these things, so by and large, it's going to feel like you're just shouting into the abyss. just gotta trust that there's people listening, because they definitely are.

  • did you upgrade your pc / console while you were gone? personally i was having a hell of a time hitting great skill checks on my laptop, and then once i got a proper pc, i get them more often than not.

  • i've been getting a lot of reassurance value in situations where the killer isn't even camping.

mostly, it's "when i get spotted going for an unhook". i quickly run past, give my teammate a thumbs up, and keep running past them to a tile. while i'm off in chase somewhere else, my teammates are dimly aware that it's been a long time since that person got hooked, and one of them finally goes to get them off hook.

occasionally, it's "you just got hooked by a gen that's nearly finished". again, give em the ol razzle dazzle, then finish the gen without giving the killer any alerts and then grab the unhook afterwards. the killer's using the survivor to know when that gen is going to get pressed again, and i'm circumventing their alarm clock by hitting snooze.

people who are looking at reassurance and seeing "waste bubba's time" are seeing a very small piece of the whole picture that this perk affords.

p.s. i use it in solo queue. rip to yall but i'm just built different i suppose.

  • @get_barted said:

I honestly think its not working as intended. Since it went live (even right now) ive had nothing but 100% bonus on survivor. This is the same as it was when it went live last time too. Constantly 100% survivor.

i'd give it a couple days before making any judgements on that.

a new killer did just come out, and he doesn't suck. so lots of people are excited to play him.

  • i got rebecca and ada at p1 with 34k leftover. i only had 2 mil in the bank.

2 killers vs 5 survivors then if that's the limit. I don't care if it's balanced I just want to play killer with friend.

me too. honestly i feel like the best way to do that is to add a killer specifically for doing that with. like twins, but designed for 100% uptime from both halves.

  • honestly i think the fact that myers gives mapwide exposed makes him a strong contender for 2nd banana to literally any strong 1v1 killer. he just follows deathslinger or nurse around stalking and hooking. the man won't even have to swing, and it's not like you can bodyblock him.

this is assuming without addons, as well. with addons? jesus. myers finally makes it to the S tier.

Just FYI "holding a game hostage" isn't the only criteria for being bannable. Intentionally using a bug to gain an advantage is alone enough to get a ban.

i remember when breakdown permanently broke hooks and i had to deal with 3 survivors running it per lobby and there were no bans.

i don't think this level of bug abuse is ever going to face punitive measures. i just think the devs see it as a temporary issue that they'll fix and everyone will get over it. because we will, tbh. just like we got over breakdown.

    She needs to get killswitched.

if she "needs" to get killswitched then she would have been.

your opinion is different to the devs' opinions. maybe they'll change their minds, maybe not. until then, she doesn't "need" to be anything. you just would like her to be, which is a different thing.

if anything the only thing that "needs" to happen is that you need to stop speaking authoritatively towards me just because i disagree with you. in the same manner, please do not authoritatively demand that she be killswitched. you are asking for this to happen because you think it is the right decision, but that's all you can do - ask. i'm sure the devs don't appreciate being constantly yelled at given they run a pvp game and therefore everything they do steps on somebody's toes, and this isn't even a decision they've made, it's a bug that's cropped up super late into the patch. i am sure they don't need the stress and the mods don't need us treating each other poorly over differences in opinion. let me go.

except this very logic, and complaining about something, is what got perks like DS, DH, and CoH/Self-care nerfed into oblivion, instead of people ACTUALLY using their brains as killers, making mental notes of who has what for future chases, or oh i dunno, running exhaustion or slow healing builds (which most of the time also slows gens) but we cant have people learning to play the game, we just want people holding W right?

changing the balance of perks and fixing a bug are on such seperate scales of existence that i just do not know how to begin explaining the sheer gulf between the two concepts.

  • killing a survivor is the opposite of holding the game hostage. sucks that there's a bug, but the devs haven't deemed it bad enough to killswitch, which likely means it isn't bannable either. since they can literally ban the character and haven't, you know?

wanting something different won't make it real.

  • sadly there's an archive to get blink hits as nurse.

this isn't an uptick in nurses because she's strong or because people want to be mean. it's an uptick in nurses because we have to play her to finish the archive.

  • them making no mention of removing the repair bonus means that the repair bonus isn't there. it's like if the patch notes said "fearmonger's exhaust effect now lasts 10 seconds (up from 5)". that doesn't mean the blindness is gone, it just means the exhaust got increased.

that's what's happening here. they're buffing all the non-repair aspects, but the repair aspect is still there, it's just staying at its original 6%.

1 2 3 4 5 … 13
