  • this feels less like sharing excitement for fnaf and more like taking opportunity of an advantage to rub this in queer peoples' faces, especially given your previous comments in other threads on the topic.

Knowing that your aura has been read is in no way stronger than not having your aura read in the first place. I hope that isn't the change as Perks like No Where To Hide would have no counter whatsoever. In that case you will know instantly that your aura was read because they are going to hit you immediately. :)

knowing that your aura has been read is far stronger than not having your aura read. feeding misinformation to a killer can be extremely rewarding for a survivor, and i am doing it constantly in 2v8, the game mode that tells me that my aura is being read.

It feels a bit weird to have this thread pinned now that they announced that.

my immediate gut reaction to that news was "they dont deserve to have that david king thread pinned any more". this thread, from members of the lgbt community, full of stories about hardships we've overcome and bonds we've made because of dbd, evolves a sinister twist when the company announces a collab with scott cawthon.

    now i just feel exploited.

Ofc I’ve seen it on the forums as well, and do you just expect me to try to search the depths of this six-year old website to find an example?

if you're going to bring it up and wave it in the face of people who have not done that and are not going to do that, yes. i will expect that of you. it would be courteous if you wasted more of your own time than you waste of ours.

do me the pleasure of at least proving that this happened somewhere on this forum, and then i can say "well it sucks that happened but noone's doing it in this thread at all so there's really no need to be so stuck on this". then you can tell me that scott's conviction that my human rights aren't important is just a matter of opinion, again.

But aren't you demonizing BHVR for collaborating with FNAF? Do you think everyone who has purchased a FNAF product is a bigot or wrong in any way?

don't you think there's a small difference between individual consumers and mainstream franchises?

    like, just a little bit?

edit: sorry, this is a little rude.

what i'm trying to say is: what people do on an individual level concerns me much less. people are nuanced. we have attachments and traumas. we have stressors. we have cravings. we struggle and we seek relief. i would rather somebody buy a fnaf game than a packet of cigarettes, for example. and it's not only impossible, but also unfair to impose a moral standpoint on an individual consumer making a purchase.

i can, however, hold bhvr responsible for the studios that it decides to collaborate with. bhvr is not a person, but more than that, bhvr doesn't just represent one purchase - it represents the opportunity to create thousands of purchases.

They absolutely have mentioned his religion. I’ve seen that get brought up in so many other platforms outside of the forums.

Besides, he is not a bigot for donating. He just believed that the people and organizations he donated to will help his country, which there is nothing wrong with that. Just because you disagree doesn’t make him a bigot.

if people outside of these forums are doing that, then you should also be outside of these forums taking it up with them. i will even support you in that endeavour, because i too think it is tasteless to attack someone's religion or physical appearance when the problem is their bigoted points of view.

and um. the things his money went to? those things caused grief and suffering to be directed towards marginalised groups. and he knew that would happen, and did so anyway, and then it happened. so, yes, he is a bigot. factually.

once again, when the guy himself says "yes, i did all of those things, and i regret none of them", you would think people wouldn't try to convince others that he didn't do what he did. he admitted to doing them.

Thank you. Someone had to say it. Cancelling someone based off their own beliefs is just sad and pathetic.

noone mentioned his religion, ever, at any point, in any thread, except people who are using it as a smokescreen to defend his bigoted actions and points of view. if you are equating "being a bigot" and "being a christian", you did that, noone else did.

I totally get the idea of Scott being insensitive to the LGBTQ community by way of his political donations and that's a fair criticism to make of him but to actively say Scott hates the LGBTQ community well…..I'm not sure how many people like that donate $50k to the Trevor Project. I do think this issue is much much more complicated than people make it out to be but in the age of social media people have trouble with nuance. I don't agree with Scott's political positions but he's not a demon for not agreeing with me or you politically and there's every chance the money he does get from this will wind up at a charity like the Trevor Project or St. Judes, is it possible it goes to a republican PAC instead? Of course but it wouldn't be the first time my money goes to something I don't support like every war and military intervention we've been in since I started working and paying taxes. At the end of the day it's totally understandable if someone doesn't want to give money to Scott but demonizing BHVR or people who do want to buy the chapter goes way too far IMO.

im not trying to demonise people who would buy this chapter. i just think if they never sell the chapter at all, then i never have to worry about someone using it the same way people used to use bubba's smartface cosmetic (especially with all the pride charms people are wearing nowadays) and i don't have to worry about playing a game that helped give money to someone who publicly gives financial and verbal support to a fascist.

it's not "people who buy this are bigots". it's "bhvr shouldnt support a bigot and funnel money towards a bigot".

But don't let me stop your sensationalism.

    another dogwhistle.

the objective of this post is to characterise me as crazy or to claim that i have a loose grip on reality to try to undermine my points and end the discussion on your terms, even though scott cawthon responded to the allegations by saying "these are all true and i did all of these things. cancel me if you want."

This is exactly why I said before that no matter how much they do in support of the lgbt community it will never be enough. They're not taking back their support for the lgbt community because FNAF is coming to DBD. This collab is not a statement on their views and values. Its purely business and nothing more. While I believe game developers shouldn't use their products to promote their stances on things like this, it by no means should inhibit them from putting the growth and prosperity of their business first.

while i'm on the topic of someone being obvious about the way people are speaking to me and letting the mask slip ever so slightly, here's another one.

"no matter how much they do in support of the lgbt community, it will never be enough".

    this sentence is a dogwhistle.

i did not reach out to bhvr and ask for them to support us. they reached out to me and showed me support. then, they announced a collaboration with someone who hates queer people, which i am. this has upset me, rightfully so, and i am justified in being upset about this, because - again - bhvr reached out to me. not the other way around.

sentences like this carry the implication that we, the angry queers, are holding the studio hostage and forcing them to bow to us. to venerate us and to do what we say. this is a common queerphobic narrative that is seen frequently during pride, where bigots rally together to tell corporations to stop supporting us because we are trying to control the world, or something.

the objective here is to characterise us as being irrational or unjustified about being upset.

everybody on this forum needs to keep a sharp ear out for dogwhistles. there are loads of them in this thread.

Do with that what you will.

you were so eager to back up a bigot that you misunderstood what i meant when i said "new".

i didn't mean new as in, starting to play right now.

i meant new as in all their queer fans will leave and be replaced by the bigots.

and the way you talk to me is so obvious too. you're so excited to be able to go a little mask off against us queer players. "do with that what you will". you love that we're seemingly helpless, and you're so desperate to rub my nose in it that you neglected your reading comprehension to do so.

so you have proof that the receipts on scott's donations and political support (that he openly admitted to in a way where he refused to apologise and instead said to cancel him) are fake?

don't worry though. they can get a bunch of new players in to replace us spurned queers with a harry potter collab! the scum sucking terfs will do just about anything to make sure that bog hag continues to go on racist tirades on twitter, and the profit margins will stabilise without us damaged goods making posts on the forums like "why would you generate a bunch of income for a bigot for free".

Do people actually think they're going to just stop showing their support for the LGBT community now that FNAF is coming to DBD after all they've done? Keep in mind that BHVR didn't have to do anything for the LGBT community and could've focused entirely on making their games being a game development company. The fact that they did shouldn't mean that they can never collaborate with people who don't share the same social/political values.

it's crazy how YOU don't realise, or simply don't care, that their lgbt support is hollow after collaborating with a bigot. not just a bigot, but a bigot who has used his wealth to support groups and politicians that want to make our lives worse.

The only thing that I have to say is that you're forgetting about controller users by only mentioning the "CTRL button" because unless if the feature is available to controller players then it physically can't be added to the game.

the ctrl button is the power 2 keybind which controller assuredly has since it's an existing keybind used for things like clown/deathslinger reloading. im just saying ctrl because that's what it is on pc.

this is another thing i'm not a fan of, the cycling of guards that have different strengths just feels like fake depth. if the knight was limited to breaking one object, setting one patrol, and ordering one quick chase with ctrl, and each guard were dedicated to those tasks, it'd probably feel a lot better for both sides. the guard that comes out is predictable and therefore you can choose which one you want to get chased by or which part of the knight's power you want to shut down.

    Go back to your bridge.

no, they're right. it is up to me to not get upset when some random meg calls me a ######### after teabagging me at the exit gate. she is literally nobody, and clearly damaged at that, and i should be able to report her with full clarity for what she said and hold her to the consequences of her words. but instead, she can call me a ######### behind the filter, it gets censored out, i don't know what she called me, and there's no point reporting her because "the filter blocked it so nobody saw what it said and got hurt, technically". i would rather people who call other players slurs get banned rather than sloppily filtered and behaviour would earn a lot of good will from me for banning for that, especially since now we get told when our reports get acted upon.

  • @jordanjustice said:

lol.. interesting complaint. I like it. However, I think the issue is that the devs don't have time to think up descriptions. Their dev times is basically split between, fixing broken things, making new characters, and adding new cosmetics. They add so many cosmetics (that really no one asked for) that they don't have the time and energy to think up good descriptions for each.

i'm not sure what other responsibilities the writers have over at old behaviour incorporated. i'd like to think that they are not also developers and that they have a small writing team dedicated to keeping everything straightened and coherent, especially since the writing is usually of such a high quality. but, i don't know. maybe they really are pulling double duty with handling support tickets or something and are just too busy to think about a new snippet of lore for the characters for the new outfits.

honestly, i blame rifts and battlepass-like content. i think this kind of monetisation sucks all the life out of developing a game, and i'm seeing it with the outfit descriptions the most.

The reason I say it should be removed completely is because they will never nerf it to a point where it will makes sense.

    They are too timid.

Removing it the boxes would literally fix the killer instantly.

removing the EMPs would break the killer instantly. there would be no way to repair gens and open the gates, ever.

  • @Spectralfx said:

They need to remove the EMPs.

His power is so clunky and bad... survivors has no right to press a button and REMOVE a killer's power.

    It's assinine!

i don't think the EMPs should be removed. i just think that the boxes need to give them less plentifully.

either make one box open at a time, or if an EMP is taken from a box the box won't make a new one until that EMP is used, and make EMPs only affect up to 3 things in their aoe

alternatively, make it so that being in a biopod makes it unable to be EMP'd. or make it so that only X biopods can be disabled at once. or allow biopods to create biopods.

i had a group of survivors use an EMP to cleanse all 4 of them + disable a biopod while i was trying to teleport to them through the biopod. the other three all had EMPs in hand. there's no way to deal with that.

  • i just had three survivors that had run out of EMPs go complete stealth mode while waiting for more EMPs to cook so they had more EMPs to beat me with.

i'm going to keep bumping my post because survivors can literally just stall the game to get the resources they need to win against their killer. they can snowball EMPs. it's a problem.

  • i just had a survivor be standing in front of my camera. i infected them. he used an EMP. while my second shot was firing towards him, it got EMP'd. so i had to hit him a THIRD TIME to actually INFECT him. and in that time he opened the exit gate and left.

    something is wrong with this.

  • i genuinely believe that the healing changes only need a small tweak to be totally fine, and rebuffing self care to 50% is one of the changes that i think the game needs most in order for the circle and charges nerf to be okay.

  • circle of healing was grossly over the line in terms of other boons. to the point where it was so oppressive, killers would go out of their way to snuff totems as soon as they heard them, just to stop circle of healing. this directly flies in the face of every other boon perk, which makes all of them worse and harder to use, especially when their effects are already minimal or require the killer's presence or certain behaviours to be valuable in the first place.

the answer is not giving the self care back to circle of healing, it is giving self care back to self care. if self care gets buffed back up to 50%, everything they're doing to circle of healing makes sense and is fine. until then, we don't have a single good self healing perk since most of them are only for altruistic healing, which is why medkits were so favoured. now we're losing medkits, it's time to give self care back and maybe consider adding some bonus self healing speed to the altruistic healing speed perks.

  • @Moxie said:

When Killer perks are "nerfed", they are gutted and borderline useless (Pop, Corrupt, Hex Ruin, Thanta, NOED, Even Franklins) .

When Survivor perks are "nerfed" they are reworked, usually better (example: DH, Off the Record, WoO, AmN, Lightweight, WGLF)

I genuinely struggle to think of any perk that got gutted for survivors besides DS, which was being massively abused.

90% of them are just adjusted to not be stupid broken, like Soul Guard.

please don't make this a killer v survivor thing. this is about eruption. there are plenty of survivor versions of this, but those aren't happening currently, so i don't want to muddy the conversation by talking about anything other than eruption right now.

  • make it so that all the boons a survivor has placed gets snuffed automatically when they get hooked

one thing that drives me crazy is the fact that i have to kill the survivor to remove their boon. everyone else gets maximum value from circle of healing for as long as i'm locked in chase. a 1/4 chance at minimum, or more with the proper information, to snuff the boon automatically as soon as my chase ends would be great.

and if i'm using shattered hope, the totem breaks instead of snuffing.

"The screaming and madness is nowhere near as annoying as people make it to be and to me it makes the games more fun and interesting."

That's your opinion, and your opinion is obviously skewed because you obviously enjoy annoying other players. My opinion is:

I don't care what map it is, if it is a doctor the match will just be annoying. That's what he does. Annoy you to death. Worse than that, this is how killers that use him play. Even when you have full insanity they are still trying to shock you just for the annoyance of it.

He's not fun. His power has too many bonuses that are too useful on certain maps and with certain perks he is one of the most oppressive and powerful killers in the game.

Let me reiterate. He is NOT fun to play against. He is ANNOYING to play against. This is my opinion, but I hate when I have to use him for a daily ritual or a tome challenge because I feel bad for annoying everyone. He feels cheap and makes me feel like I am cheating.

do you really think they're shocking you just to be annoying? the shock has a side effect where you can't drop pallets or vault windows for 2.5 seconds after getting zapped. he's not shocking you just to bother you, he's trying to stop you being able to use chase tools so he can land a hit.

unless the killer has the "make survivors scream" archive in which case yeah i once chased a jill around a single rock for an entire game just to get 40 screams for my archive. got it in one, baby. still, wasn't to annoy her though. it was to get my archive.

  • i'm going to give my opinion here as a killer player. i agree these perks are weird but i think some of the suggestions go too far.

if reactive healing is going to be capable of completing a heal, then it should work like renewal / a syringe, not be instant. otherwise 4 players using it could have infinite bodyblocks to the exit gate. (it works on hits, not on downs. i don't know why you guys are saying it takes a down to heal you, it doesn't, just a hit is enough.) if i had to make a change i would make it be a token based perk where the first activation heals 50% of your total progress (not missing), the second activation heals 25%, and then all other hits heal 50% of missing. that way it has better synergy with resurgence and solidarity, as you actually can get a health state out of it if you accumulated an amount of healing. this also makes it better as a response to interrupted heals, if your teammate gets you past 50% then their bodyblock will finish your heal and you'll be able to bodyblock for them in turn.

poised, you guys have suggested that it be activateable and also hide blood/grunts/footsteps. i think that it shouldn't be on demand OR shouldn't hide grunts/blood. otherwise it's just a better iron will / bite the bullet / lucky break. some of these suggestions are wild. 75 seconds of on-demand perfect stealth in total? absolutely not. i think some of you guys underestimate just how godawful the killer FOV is. if i can't hear their breathing, footsteps, or grunts, and there's no scratch marks or pools of blood, there's absolutely no way to realistically chase. if each survivor had five "get out of chase free" buttons the only viable killers would be plague and mirror myers. again, either the on demand activation or the grunts/blood hiding needs to go here. the resulting perk either way is fine. dedicating two perks to the perfect stealth effect is also fine, in my eyes. because the other perks you need in combination have their own flaws that, when put together, leaves a quirky yet conditional build that incurs risk/reward based on your skill of navigating your own blind spots using playstyle and the other two perk slots. i'm not alone when i say i love playing those kinds of builds.

solidarity is a strong perk as it is. not enabling ridiculous plays like the usual survivor meta stuff does not mean that it's weak, just that people don't truly appreciate the value of it. the one person who stans solidarity in this thread is totally correct on all counts and i am in complete agreement. at the very least some way to counter hemorrhage feels like a no brainer even if the rest of the changes aren't made. also, as an aside, i totally don't understand how some of you guys act where you have to heal two survivors to benefit from the perk? you don't. having healing progress that the other survivor can finish off is very valuable. you don't have to get a full health state from a perk for it to have value. the same thing is being said about reactive healing. circle of healing is strong, but that doesn't mean all healing perks need to be more like circle of healing, it just means that the other healing perks need to have their weaknesses compensated for.

They should not punish the player for lying down being forgotten by the killer. They should heal rather then suicide. If the killer leaves them like that than the killer should accept the risk for it. The person might get up and escape or heal themselves. The killer profits/is rewarded for skilled downing by hooking them. If he choses not to , than he loses his privilege for being skilled enough to down that player and the player should have the next move. Even when downed the player is still an active player in the match , they should not be held hostage on the ground so the killer can max the points. The killer abuses the hatch system by bypassing it completely if one player is slugged. Just hook the player and play the hatch game with the remaining person. It is not the end of the world if one manages to find the hatch first. It literally the next stage of the match that is meant to happen.

i love that you say "player" and "killer"

imagine that mmr goes from 0 to 1,000,000. your mmr is, for sake of conversation, 1,000,000. you've completely capped it, you can earn no more, you are at the highest possible amount of mmr. congrats!

but the game doesn't care. because the matchmaking bracket is 2,000 - 1,000,000. everyone with more than 2,000 mmr is being matched with everyone up to 1,000,000 mmr.

all that matters is that you have enough mmr to be away from the players that are new. it's not trying to put you with your own skill bracket, it's just trying to keep you away from theirs.

and one of them just got an escape that pushed their mmr to 2,001. so now they're in the big kids pool.

    - atleast one general daily like in the archive

    - rerolling for one specific side

But i think its just not important enough, to put ressources in it. And there are really many other things which should be fixed first.

i also agree that they feel like a remnant of old game design, purely because when the game launched there were 4 survivors and 3 killers, which is a pretty even split of rituals.

but then every killer they add, comes with their own daily ritual. slowly, the pool of available rituals has become completely drowned in killer rituals, and there have not been any survivor rituals added to balance it out. so now, instead of it being about 60/40 (i'm not doing maths right now) like it was when the game came out, over time it's become more like 5/95 (again, not doing maths right now).

Even better, make the daily ritual log have 2-3 killer rituals and 2-3 survivor rituals every day. That would be way more flexible and in line with the thinking of the tome challenge change on the PTB.

yes actually, i agree. just give me a killer and survivor daily every day.

I think you actually make the situation worse by leaving a gen to stop another regressing. A single survivor will work on a gen faster than it can regress. If it gets to 400% regression that's the same speed as 1 survivor.

The travel time spent would be better just doing your own gen instead.

Eruption though, yeah that hits solo harder with no argument. It should just block the gen instead.

eruption blocking gens sure would fix the "useless against swf" part, i guess.

I actually got it on my first try when I had a relatively decent day with MMR and not just dying 19 games in a row. The hatch one though? Three entire freaking days. Even had a Mikaela t-bagging me at the gate despite me pointing at her and my name being literally "Hatch Escape". No the killer was not looking. Ended up getting it organically, but some of these challenges, especially for a SoloQ Forever Survivor are a bit too much.

for the hatch escape challenge i took clairvoyance, open handed. and then bond/distortion to round out the build.

got it on my first try.

i have yet to try the self care challenge though. please pray for me.

This post has made me give Distortion a shot.

4 games in and I'm loving it, it may actually have a place in my go-to kit right next to windows. Just had a match with someone who had 3 aura read perks, and I denied every single one of them. Even in the game with zero aura reads it told me so much, 'They don't have BBQ. Okay there's no nurses. No I'm all ears.' etc.

distortion is legitimately one of the best information perks because it is not only information, it is also information deprivation. and it has earned a permanent slot in my loadout.

you deny the killer their info perks and addons, while simultaneously discovering exactly what info perks and addons they're using. in a swf, distortion is devastatingly powerful, and in solo, it's saved my ass more than i could ever count.

this thread is a distortion propaganda thread now.

  • i love bond + open handed.

    it's great for

    >healing injured allies

    >getting heals while injured

    >cooping on gens

    >getting bodyblocks while on death hook

    >seeing if people are going for the rescue

    >keeping the killer away during chases

    >seeing what pallets are getting used

    >having an idea of if someone's in chase or not outside of whether or not someone takes a hit

It removes 2 tokens for distortion. I couldn’t imagine a perk affecting itself, but it’s a killer perk, so I think devs supposed its fine

only if your distortion is yellow / green

purple distortion covers the effect fully and thus only loses one token.

  • every game i'm in, there's a survivor running Distortion.

it's me, i'm the survivor running Distortion. it could be you.

Pardon me if the title of this discussion doesn't meet your approval.

So if a survivor knows how their movements affect their scratch marks and can control that, it is a waste of a perk slot.

the main benefit is the increased walk speed and the scratch marks are a side benefit.

  • well. you know for a fact exactly what the killer's seeing, and so you can infer what they might be thinking. you can also place them more deliberately.

i'm assuming this thread is about "What exactly is the value of Self-Aware?" and aside from being able to use your scratch marks against the killer, the bonus walking speed also helps you slip away undetected and remain stealthy a lot.

it's one of the trick perks, along with dance with me, diversion, deception, etc. but it isn't immediately obvious that it's a trick/mindgame/false info perk until you play with it a few times.
