Seems like they keep making survivors louder, which makes betting stealthy much more difficult. You'd think that since Meg is an athlete, she'd be able to run ten feet without sounding like she's having an asthma attack...

Seems true after they added additional noises to every survivor for jumping from high places not too long ago.

  • I just had to share this quote from a killer in another thread which sums it up nicely:

'I'm here to destroy survivors, not to make sure they have fun and as many escape opportunities as posible. You can take your pip system and... keep it for yourselves.'

  • I just had a match where I was the only red survivor, there was a green survivor, a purple survivor, and a yellow rank survivor - against a purple rank killer.

How can you justify making ranking harder when you do not even respect rank brackets?

@darktrix Don't you worry. The Dedicated Servers are coming Soon™.

Yeah yeah 'the dragons are coming', but I'm just saying it is not a great to use 'competitive game' term for debates when we don't even have the infrastructure for it.

  • Neither the devs, nor most survivors, understand that there is a living breathing human being playing killer that also wants to have a good game and have fun.

A good time stalking and murdering good people by impaling them on hooks to die slowly and painfully. Ironic part aside, the killer is the adversarial role, because making an AI would be too complicated and not have a fraction of the unpredictability a human player has, thus we have killers. You're the bad guy trying to eliminate the other players thus ending their 'fun'. Don't expect much love for it.

A majority of killers don't care about survivors fun either, so it goes both ways. Why it is good for people to not just main one side or the other. Play the other side and only the other side for a good month, or at least a couple weeks and see how the other half lives.

Again, we are moving the goalposts. The things we complained about and got nerfed:

Number of pallets - legit nerf

Number of window loops - legit nerf

Then we screamed about Decisive Strike - nerfed. I am undecided on this one as I did not see it as game breaking as others did, but it worked.

Healing Speed and SC specifically- this was not a needed nerf imo, but it got nerfed pretty hard. So much so that you don't see it as much at all.

All healing - nerfed. I disagreed with this one.

Then MoM comes out and we lose our minds - nerfed. I rarely had an issue with MoM and thought there were some potential work arounds, but I get why red ranks hated it. But, survival at red ranks is still below 50%, why was the nerf needed then?

Now we are going to cry about instant heal addons. Come on, do you want all the survivors to start in dying state next? This is just whiney behavior at this point. Stop nerfing survivors. If there is imbalance around something, then put in a buff to counter it.

Example - Poison blade addon. Gives the killer the ability to poison their blade so any victim struck cannot heal fo 60 seconds. Boom, no insta heal.

Honestly, I think the killers who keep crying about one thing after another have just gotten lazy and need to get better. I main Trapper and do just fine handling the things these whiners claim are game breaking.

They are complaining hard about adrenaline and even the current BT too. Things aren't ever going to be fair when one side uses their OP tools and the other side decides not to use them.

I am pretty sure that even if we get to the point when the match starts each survivor finds the nearest hook and jumps on it for the killer, that mediocre killers will still complain it took too long.

I also believe there should be some blood point and even emblem bonus for not using OP tools and facing them from the other side in a trial.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/71408/insta-heals-are-highly-imbalanced-they-need-to-go

Insta-heals are completely balanced. It’s a very rare item that people lose after use. Stop whining.

    This.

Not only do they lose the item, but the med kit as well, plus any add on to get a single normal heal from it, cause if you use a brown kit by itself you will use it all up with just one heal anyway defeating the purpose of packing an insta heal. Purple insta also reduces charges by 25% and the red insta by 50%.

So you are talking about 8k-15k+ blood points just to have an insta heal available, and toward the higher end for one normal heal in addition from the kit. Then risk franklin's and plain bad luck that may prevent them from using it in a crucial moment.

@MegsAreEvil Because that's what every other competitive game does it. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

And how many competitive games give one side a latency advantage (killer) for being host?

  • I can just see it now, one hunts around gathering the survivors on hooks in a close area while the other just camps them. What fun. The maps would also need to be much larger.

  • Vaulting usually means I get hit every time now, running vaults, does not matter. I need a huge lead on the killer to have a chance. I even fake a window vault and get a good 3-4 meters away from it before I was rubber banded back to the vault and hit.

Latency is pointed at as the culprit, so killers have the advantage in all these situations. Dedicated servers may help this, or cause more problems. I don't know, I just know I never have as many problems with pallet slams as I do window vaults now.

You also have to be careful when you vault, if you get too close to it, it changes from a running vault to a medium vault even straight on. That time is pretty short between running vault to medium vault too. I think latency probably affects that also when you still get a slower vault when it was clearly saying a running was possible.

Vaulting has some low tolerances made even worse by any latency. I would just not play any lobbies with higher than a 150ms ping and even then it questionable.

Then don't fall near basement next time. If you know how it works, than this shouldn't be an issue otherwise you dig your own grave. Don't rely on BT, especially since there's people who don't run it. BT was like that once and it was hell for killers. It's fine as is now.

This is best advice - prevention. Should be number one rule of survivors, don't get hooked in the basement. Insta down killer or injured being chased, unless you are a looping god, stay the hell away from the basement. Even if you get downed somewhere else it is way easier and safer to get you off the hook.

Anyone who gets hooked in the basement should count themselves lucky they if they ever get out. Two people in the basement is game over. I run a basement save build with BT, we'll make it, UE (for hags and general positioning) - and I still dread doing basement saves. It would be nice if BT worked against killers concealing their terror radius, but those are few cases.

But run DS if you want more personal control - I seldom see rancor and it is easy to counter. Don't worry about it.

  • Meg was loud but she seems even louder after the update.

Does it also cramp anyone else's fingers? Or is that just a me thing? :O

My friend refuses to touch gens because getting chased is more fun (even though he fails at it). Then he complains about not pipping when I do. xD I'm usually the only one who braves through the pain, especially if there's ruin. So RIP my fingers.

    Don't press down so hard.

  • @Perelie said:

You realize what you're suggesting is being forced to take 4 perks just to have a halfway decent counter to a base mechanic that survivors have by default?

It's a base mechanic for survivors because it is often the only defense they have on many maps. Lack of line of sight breakers, scratch marks, faster killers, you ain't getting away from even a moderately competent killer. Delaying the inevitable is the only course. You want to nullify that - spend the perks.

That and spirit fury is the one that messes me up the worst. I hate that perk and every hillbilly has it.

  • They need to stop hijacking your camera and adding annoying visual overlay like the blood and vomit on your screen.

Kind of reminds me of the one bug with huntress when if you hit someone with a hatchet you would get blood splatters on your screen, even when they were across the map.

  • @TheBean said:

@darktrix Yeah but that is how you choose to play.

I don't care if I play with potatoes. I'm playing for fun. I don't see value in ranking up, so I don't mind playing with people of less skill, or those who just want to play and enjoy the match. I generally adjust my playstyle as I see others play in the match. If the killer isn't that skilled, I don't focus on rushing them. Potato survivors still work on gens, especially if they are in a SWF team.

Working on gens has never been that fun. They removed part of the motivation for needing to work on them as a solo player.

I basically can just focus on all other aspects of the match now, and still have my chance to escape.

That really has not changed much with the loss of having to do two gens minimum for hatch. Two gens was usually not a challenge anyway and they could not carry that over to EGC, because well...if no hatch appears with last survivor, no way to start EGC = potential hostage situation all over. I'm even begrudgingly impressed that they even thought of that possibility. But if you serve as distracting the killer anyway without even touching a gen, that is still helping - long as you aren't getting downed every 5 seconds.

  • DS is fine. If you lack the guts to just eat the DS, then your penalty for tunneling is waiting 60 seconds.

  • Pretty much what I keep saying. No matter how hard things like healing, DS, etc. are nerfed, there will loud mouths wanting more severe nerfs. I despise tunnelers even more than campers and DS is fine now. Anything less than 60 seconds and it would be worthless perk as the killer will just wait out the timer with no real penalty. Killer may spend half that time or longer anyway just trying to chase the injured unhooked. Time is the penalty if the killer doesn't have a pair.

  • Someone who just plays for the hatch is someone I will identify fast and will dodge every time I see them as a survivor, because that game will be a waste of time. Other survivors who are good, will do the same then you can be left playing with just the potatoes forever more.

The longer other survivors survive, the better chance I have to survive. Leaving it up to luck with no gens done, then hoping I can find the hatch is a failure to me. I may escape, but it won't feel like a win, nor should it. The real challenge is dragging the other survivors, kicking and screaming if need be, to victory.

Or they just play game to relax. Dont you kill in videogames for fun?

I'll see that a lot. Poor killer got mistreated by an swf or didn't get his 4k, so the next round they draw (or dodge lobbies until they get) a pack of obvious solos who don't have 1000+ hours on their profiles. Then they proceed to put on the ebony mori, strongest add ons, and use their best BM in order to feel superior again.

The killing in this game has a much more intimate feel to it than in other video games.

  • @George_Soros said:

No, this guy is right. A single survivor should be as strong as the killer. At the same time, survivors should be able to kill each other and get BP for it.

They kind of can with sandbagging and hook farming.

  • @George_Soros said:

Like @thesuicidefox said, there's no point. It's incredibly easy to find totems, and cleansing dulls is almost completely pointless. Better get that NOED once it's lit.

Don't dulls give you some emblem credit now with the latest update?

  • Probably low experience. The game is harsh on new players, new survivors especially. A lot of killers think it is just sitting behind a gen and holding m1:

    1) Need to know which gens are priority and when to do them so the killer is less likely to find you working on a gen and to avoid a three gen strat.

    2) Need to hit those skills checks, often great skill checks under Ruin and deal with various perks (like Lullaby) and effects that can make that check more difficult, especially against Doctor.

    3) Need to identify and be familiar each of over a dozen killers and know their strength, weakness, and power in order to have any effectiveness. What strange mechanic they may have that you need to counteract in order to not die or kill off the rest of the survivors.

    4) Need to know how to last longer than 5 seconds in a chase.

    5) Need to know how to mind game.

    6) Need to know how to loop decently if the killer or map gives you no option to get away.

    7) Need to know how to make hook saves without killing yourself or your save, especially basement saves. Number one rule of survivor should be to not get hooked in the basement.

    8) When to heal when not to heal.

    9) How to counter bbq/chili along with whatever aura perks the killer is packing.

    10) How to deal with tunnelers and campers.

    11) Effectively searching for hex totems and dealing with NOED.

    12) Develop a sense of what the killer is likely to do in order to counter play them effectively.

    13) How to use your tools and add-ons most effectively. Also flashlight saves.

    14) Body blocking effectively - when to do it and when not to do it.

    15) How to deal with EGC when you are the last survivor.

    16) How to reduce or conceal your scratch marks.

    17) Gain familiarity with maps - to know where the gens, pallets, and dead zones generally are in each one.

    18) How to avoid leading a killer to other survivors giving them a chance at a snowball.

Sure I have left off several - but it is much more than just pressing m1.

No, in last patches devs fixed bug that caused map and key lose charges for filling the strip

Hm, I'll have to check that out. I stopped using them because of that.

  • @bigbeefynacho said:

My biggest complaint about fellow survivors is failed skill checks when ruin is either cleansed or not in the killers' builds. Just soooooo frustrating. It's even more frustrating when I've gotten the gen to 80% and some 4head comes along and blows the gen more than once. 😡😡

Or better yet they come along with the killer in tow.

  • It is easy to break Father Death out of stalk.

    You mean Myers, jr.?

  • I think it is how much off from center of your screen you can be to start a reveal.

Right now I have to keep him direct in the center of my screen and he can just duck around a tree or something to break reveal and force start all over again, while his stalk does not diminish on me. I do have to reveal myself fully (cannot get the direct center of screen on him many times) if I am behind an object (like a wall) myself. Meaning I have to be in full sight of him to reveal, not just poking my head around a corner. This probably was meant to help that case?

  • @Someissues said:

He also cant stalk through corns, but survivors can reveal u out of it

I haven't been able to reveal looking through corn yet and I have tried multiple times. He has to be in between the rows for it to work, clear line of sight, but then he can stalk you as well.

  • PS4 - The Killer (GF) downed me, hooked the other survivor and I was on the ground waiting while the other survivor's entire health bar was depleted.

It was a dick move, no doubt on that. Some killers get off on their 'power role', they are usually the same ones that cry loudest when their power role is not up to their standards.

I will add that there are many people who do not know how to win or lose with dignity.

  • I got accused of that once. First two killed was a P3 Claudette and P3 Quentin, I slugged a pretty easy to catch Nea, leaving an immersed P3 David skulking around. Could not find him after two minutes and he is obviously going to let her die even though I was no where near her. So, I return and get the Nea back up. Ignore her, manage to find and catch that immersed David a few minutes later, then proceed to hang him up in the basement for safe keeping. After he dies I let the Nea have the hatch for compensation of being slugged like that and not DCing. That David was mad, lol, "Reported!". Tasty.

So what if I let one or two go? That's my business. I've usually established my dominance by then by already hooking everyone twice. The hunt is the challenge for me, not thirsty for the kills like so many insecure killers are. Once the hunt is over, so is the fun. At that point I lose interest and I care not if they live or die. However, they better not hang around too long though.

  • Sounds like the same problem Hillbilly has. One shot downing people can be a liability to emblems.

  • We do need a task force to gather evidence right now.

  • Those maps (and keys) burn out way too fast even with longevity add-ons.

  • Same reason that Myers cannot stalk through corn, the 'playstyle' it would open up is spam the stalk to reveal hidden survivors. Can't stalk through grass? Just stand up and do it.

  • They made red ranks more difficult to pip, so now you get mostly tryhard swf because swf are dependable and don't dc arbitrarily on each other.

  • Sounds like a typical day in solo queue.

  • Killers already have the passive of balanced landing with falls not staggering them. Give them the 150% speed bursts, probably without the exhaustion that limits the survivor? That seems unwise.

  • I did not read carefully enough - I have no idea what pallet campers are thinking. They pretty much are helping to kill their fellow survivors as well.

  • image.png

Maybe looking for something like this?

  • only 1 person needs Tom kite the killer the whole match I it takes less than 5 mins for all gen’s one be done unless u have rune which is a must have at high r…

Have you considered the possibility you aren't good?

  • Hi my name is Gardenia...I've been with dbd for 3 years now...I'm getting better but, I have problem.....

I sometimes use Technician just because I like to pretend it is useful, but deep down...I know the truth.

  • Shots fired.

My theory - after hundreds of hours sitting behind a gen, seeing how long they can play directly with the killer is the only thrill left for them.

  • He can if he knows curving.

@Rex_Huin she looks normal. She's not Meg fit, but I wouldn't call thick hips unfit. It's not like she's morbidly obese with 150+kg or something.

So we are just "celebrating" normal bodies instead of the unrealistic body concepts of He-Man or Barbie style characters that exist way to often in video games.

Thanks for the kind reactions and sorry for that useless thread. I guess it just annoyed me because it was a hectic game and just when you think you made it and all your decisions were right you get that slap in your face because the entity likes to bully both sides.

  • Said only to get a reaction from you out of spite, and it worked.
