  • I don't like Plague (or Ash) talking. So I doubt I would like other killers (or survivors) talking.

  • Hardest: god tier Billys, good trappers (always have to watch my feet, and for some reason they always seem to move faster than other killers to me)

Easiest: nurse if there are decent los breakers available, spirit

  • I think Nea is probably highly intelligent if not borderline genius. Her confident attitude strikes me as not so much rebellious just for the the sake of it, but trying to define her own style. Her cosmetics reflect that to a degree.

And say what you will about her face, she has a great body.

  • @Slayer said:

They may as well destroy that perk

    They did.

  • The community has spoken about swf. That is why swf is here.

  • This 'free win' term is stupid. For a mori you need to chase and down a survivor, then run into that survivor again after an unhook and do it all over a second time to mori. For keys you have to do gens and pay a price in a number of dead survivors before the hatch even appears. On top of that you have to be one of those survivors still alive when it does appear. EGC can go arguably go either way and is another discussion.

Neither one is 'free' or guaranteed.

Get all killers to give up their mori, and survivors will probably give up their keys.

  • @miaasma said:

people who feel that they can't save if the killer is anywhere near the hook

i've gone 2nd stage on my first hook because people are too scared to "farm" me

even if you save me and the killer tunnels me back down again (unless they have a mori) i at least have a chance of not going to struggle, but if you don't save me then i guaranteed go to struggle

That can be a tough one. If it's an insta down killer or perks like MYC are in play they probably don't want to just trade places with you on the hook just to risk having you go down a few seconds later because they don't have BT, thus giving the killer a snowball. Otherwise though, If you are going second hook anyway, the play is to just go for it.

And yes, scared of 'farming' other survivors is real. Survivors can blame you for anything and everything. Even if they were going to second stage anyway, they can and will hate on you for 'farming'. Then you got to deal with that awkward crap every time you run into them in a future match. Sad as it may be, it is often better to come off as a potato than a hook farmer, cause one implies intent.

  • It's been my observation that killers generally all feel good and pat themselves on the back when they crush new/solo/low ranked survivors. Then when they run into survivors that crawled through that mire and learned how to put up a challenge by either getting good on their own or joining a pack, suddenly killers are the victim. They never consider the possibility that they are not good (or can improve) themselves or that coding the game for the elite 5% will leave the other 95% out in the cold leading to a swift death of the game.

I always hear 'power role' thrown around all the time. The thing about power is that many humans are fail when it comes to handling it. They abuse it unmercifully. You see it with killers and survivors bullying each other all the time. Then the killer, because they chose the solitary side, often needs support and comes to the forums to cry out the loudest about the injustice in this world.

Being this game is what it is that each side has very different objectives, there will never be balance or anything even close to it. Even when efforts go toward that goal, there will always be outliers that push the boundaries of what their role is thought to be capable, eliciting cries of OP and nerf from the other side.

I don't say stop trying for 'balance', but realize your own attitude and outlook on things - to do anything to get that 4k every game or to get that 4 escape, is often your worst enemy. That...and RNG.

  • Sprinkle about a dozen DC's on top and you got yourself a complete night.

  • Yes, let's punish people who are doing their main objectives. No.

And people learn to power through ruin, because just about every killer uses it every match. You make it harder to do gens past that, people will adapt and still pound out the gens and we'll have this same conversation again a year from now.

  • When they give a killer a snowball - one goes on the hook then five seconds later you see another get slugged right near the hook, then maybe the 3rd goes down a few steps from there. Now you are left on the other side of the map deciding to either save these idiots or let them die and hope for a hatch.

But the worst is when you are going for a save and another survivor leads the killer right back to the hooked. Then they likely follow that up with a stupid unsafe save and both end up slugged.

I mean, survivors represent an average human. Killers are supernatural beings. I don't think this comparison can be made. Seems to me that this is just a step towards a different style of looping that BHVR wants to promote.

Well not to derail into a lore conversation, but survivors are probably not average humans either and a touch supernatural themselves. They fall from great heights without injury, get impaled/stabbed/bludgeoned then heal quickly, are murdered dozens if not hundreds of times yet keep coming back. They are prisoners in a realm where the physical laws of real world obviously are distorted or flat out don't apply. I'm just not a fan of applying the 'realism' or 'irl' argument to this game, especially vaulting.

  • Take a week off for all the ranks to settle.

It will no longer be possible to medium-vault Windows/fast-vault Pallets from a stand-still. You know, those scenarios where Survivors stand right next to a safe pallet and vault back and forth across it with full momentum, something which is not possible in reality.

Just like IRL, Survivors will have to run up to the vaults for a bit in order to get the faster vaults. This change is intended to lower the amount of safe pallets and remove some of the more obnoxious window loops.

IRL. I don't man, let's get some huge dude with a revved up chainsaw coming at you and let us know how fast you can make it over a pallet or through a window from any angle. I bet it would be pretty fast.

People were complaining about survivors holding the game hostage but that's exactly what killers are now doing! They're holding the game hostage, I've been in games were Killers for whatever reason decide not even to kill the fourth person.

According to forums it is only wrong when a survivor does it. Killers can be as toxic as they want and they call it a 'strategy'.

  • I agree that there are five players in every game and each has the potential for being toxic.

  • @DBD_Pinhead said:

This is why there's no reason to try to rank up. You get zero rewards other than a new color next to your name for a few weeks.

But red looks good on me.

  • They used to be much larger too.

  • @Tsulan said:

    Yes there is: Monstrous Shrine

Left Behind would be meta, if the hatch didn't exist.

    So blame the hatch.

I blame EGC actually. Before EGC you could use left behind for those times when the killer camped the hatch, but it was still niche and you could get the same results, just slower, without the perk.

Monstrous shrine you can at least make part of a basement build with agitation and iron grasp.

Before EGC they both had about the same level of uselessness, now with EGC left behind takes the lead in being truly useless by far.

  • I also think after they made pipping more difficult in red to give back our three safety pips we used to be able to secure at rank 1.

  • I found getting through green ranks was easy, purple went pretty steady, then most of us (solo especially) hit the wall on red rank 4. There you either have to go full cheese try hard, be in a dependable swf (ones that won't DC at least), or have an incredible degree of luck (preferably all three of these) to progress steadily.

Most times in red I get a safety pip being one point short of a pip. Then you often get a string games with tunnelers, campers, moris, and/or boosted survivors/killers that knock down your potential to pip even further.

  • So people can argue about how easy|hard it is to rank up and go on about matchmaking doesn't seem to care that much about rank either throwing reds, purples, greens together in matches cause reasons, I guess. So there isn't much in the way of separating player skill levels anyway when a red gets thrown in against greens and end up trashing them, pushing them further away from purple and deeper back down into green.

  • Survivor: 3-way tie: Kate, Min, Meg

Killer: Huntress to play, Myers to play against

  • Myers is the most exciting because there are many ways he can be played. I guess the real scariest killer is the one that hasn't been made yet, cause I wonder what weird and crazy mechanics I got to deal with next.

The least scary - pig, she is more cute than scary, especially when she squeaks after I slam a pallet on her.

  • Likely an swf that averages out to about rank 10+

Rank is often not an indicator on how good someone truly is.

Were you pointing out the one Rank 6, or that everyone else was beneath your rank? This is not a bad spread really. Now when you see red rank killers against a pack of greens or red rank survivors against a purple killer, then you have something to worry about.

Yep killer is fun at rank 20 but after that survivors aren't dumb and clueless you know?

Play just solo survivor for a few weeks. You will think everyone is dumb and clueless no matter the rank.

  • You would be surprised how much this perk messes with even a veteran's skill check timing. They even get trigger happy and have to focus more on checks over watching their surroundings - and unlike ruin has even better chance at full strength of failing and alerting killer.

I've gotten to rank 1 just using it, and at full strength I have had many games where gen repair just came to a complete halt even with one gen left. It can be even more devastating than ruin. Sure there are some gen jockeys that can focus through it, but they can do the same to ruin too and your suggestion would not affect it anyway.

I think the idea of not alerting that the hex is active until a skill check is failed is the best buff. Having it potentially permanent and seeing what it can do from both sides when at full strength is too strong.

  • @Boss said:

Oh, and everyone would know how to repair Generators.

From the bar brawler David, to the street rat Nea.

I never understood how that worked. I think it goes something like this:

New Survivor: "Where am I? What is this place?"

Veteran Survivor: "Welcome to the Fog. Come sit down at this campfire, you are safe here. Oh and read this." *Drops a manual about generator repair in new survivor's lap*

  • If you get rid of loops, get rid of scratch marks.

  • I never used the original DS, but I have a build where I will use the current DS. It is fair now and only the dickish or desperate killers really need to worry about it.

    Are you really surprised?

  • Learn to dodge swf like killers do.

  • @ghostkiller666 said:

I think its nice that survivors have those great addons, and i think that should be more easy to get them (that's why i suggested a black market but none gave a #########), but killers are too weak, most of the games you need to tunnel someone before them gen rush you (generators are already fixed and balanced, there's no logical reason to change them) or the match get out of control, because normally what i face is: I hook one time, maybe tunnel deppending on the team, but after i hook (the same guy) for 2x in a row, and I let him escape on the last hook chance, normally, i don't ever see that survivor again lol, they normally don't do hook rescue or gens, because they simply vanish letting the hard work to the others.

I mean, the killer is a victim because they have to abuse to get some vantage in the game. Tell me, horror movies normally (the classic ones) is about the killer who have all the vantage, but in somehow one or 2 person survive(s). The exeption i remember was the last movie from Halloween that Laurie is hardcore and set her own house to a trap place. But anyway, i didn't like that movie, the thing is about the killing, the killer must be more powerfull and have control but he should fail more easily. thats the solution. dont ask me for details

Hehe, the guy murdering people is the victim.

  • @Star99er said:

I like how he’s angry reacting to everyone telling him not to tunnel, so toxic.

Well to mediocre killers, camping and tunneling is their life and they get sensitive about it.

Shouldn't you earn pips to be put in harder rank brackets then, so you are challenged? If I went back to rank 20, I'd be so good I couldn't rank in that scenario, and be stuck playing potatoes.

The ironic part is that obviously red rank people climbing up keep getting matched and stomp the purple, greens, etc. to where those guys don't pip either and remain stuck in lower ranks.

  • If you steamroll the other side, you obviously were not challenged, so no pip. Same goes for survivors that stomp a killer, no pip.

  • Gens are life. If you don't do gens fast enough, you die.

  • It needs to go. It's not needed. It's even annoying to watch on streams.

  • Sometimes it does and you don't lose a pip automatically because the killer DC'ed in the middle of a game. Other times you get a de-pip just because of the DC. Been broken for a long while and not consistently. This is probably one item that does have a high chance of being fixed with dedicated.

  • There's also how heavy a penalty to consider. If it is too high, you bring back selfcare as meta and then killers will complain about everyone using selfcare (or medkits) again. If it is too low, they will just power through it injured like before. Likely whatever slowing of gen progression that results will never be enough for killers.

I really don't think there is a 'just right' for this.

  • Let's not talk about disconnects, since there have been about 100 other threads on it already.

And yes, people DC for any reason just like killers camp/tunnel for any reason - it all sucks. Guess when you start doing it, it just gets easier and easier to do.

  • It's just a state to easily tell the survivor's status and for effect. Like hit points, survivors have two before they go down. Injured move just as fast as uninjured (in fact moving even faster for a few seconds after getting hit), they vault just as fast as uninjured, they heal others just as fast as uninjured. They are in a world where after getting chainsawed, impaled on a hook, and then having someone rub their hands over them for several seconds makes them all better, there's no reason to single out gen repair as somehow getting mysteriously affected by injured status. That makes no sense to me. The downward death spiral has never been a great game mechanic.

Then there's the perks to rebalance around it. Plus you would just be kicking solos in the face once again, swf would not even feel this pain.

    "Hunter is braindead easy"

This is kind of how I feel after watching some gameplay. The fact that you just kill people when you catch them make it seem like Hunter is just ridiculously OP. Maybe if you couldn't do it until the second or third down it would make a difference, but as it stands it seems to me that if you have good aim you should always win as the hunter.

As I understand as a hunter you want to slug and not immediately execute scavengers for a bonus multiplier to points. But that feels like a weak incentive to not execute immediately for most people - just like in dbd a lot of killers don't care about anything but the kills.

  • Same thing would of happened with BT, you want that nerfed as well?

  • Not interested in a sci-fi game. Maybe try their new Death Garden.

So, I'm giving away the best option that a survivor has, but i'll tell it to you, even though killers dominate the forums,....

When you know the other survivor is about to die on hook, DO NOT LOOK FOR HATCH! your best chance is to stand by a door, wait 5 seconds and the killer will close the hatch, then start opening the gate, and PRAY that he checks the other one first, you've got a 50% chance. That is a general rule of thumb recommendation. It is possible to find the hatch first, but not probable, you can save yourself some time by standing by the door exactly when hatch is closed, that gives you a chance to get it started before the killer gets there. Another tip, start the door, but release before it lights the first light, then hide, when the killer leaves your door, then go finish it.

These tips are your best chance, UNLESS, you're against a hillbilly, or nurse, or a hag that already trapped the door, or a trapper that already trapped the doors, or if, the most common issue, the doors spawn SO close together the killer can basically watch them both at once, in any of these situations, you're just dead. Get used to playing DBD-favoring killers is our motto!

Don't worry, everyone has known about that strategy since egc first came out.
