All the time.

It was because (big surprise coming) Legion players would exploit the lunge in order to move even faster. This must of been the easy way for devs to prevent that. I would rather they fixed the speed exploit another way - it was kind of cool touch having a maniac slashing the air behind you, until you learned it was just to speed themselves up.
-
Yes useless, you can enjoy that high speed repair for all of the time it takes the killer to shut the hatch, then you cannot do gens anymore. They get Entity blocked. Time is better spent either looking for the hatch, a key to open the hatch, or positioning near an exit switch for when the hatch is closed. Or just finding a nice comfortable place to die.
-
I've run into cases where I've waited for a few minutes trying to join a lobby, nothing happens. I then cancel my search, retry, and instantly get a lobby. Strange hang with the matchmaking?
-
Nurse was always the killer with high DCs, before original Legion came and stole that crown.
-
If the killer just camped the hatch I would 99 the remaining three gens, then pop them one after the other, strategically, then stealth away. He was then forced to watch three places now instead of just one, usually I could just slip into the hatch as he checked the gates. That strategy is dead now too.
Now in that situation if I don't find the hatch in 20 seconds and I'm not near a gate...I just find some nice calm place to go die.

According to the data set they released two weeks ago. 41% for solo and it increase the more swf players you have grouped up to 48% for 4man swf.
And when was that sample taken? Two weeks ago would be the day after EGC went live.
-
I wonder what the survival rate is now. Maybe it evens out since survivors are more likely to leave others behind, but then that also denies killers a chance at a comeback if survivors just leave with one on the hook now. While it becomes more likely to kill the lone 4th survivor since the game does it for them after two minutes of closing the hatch. If it looks bad, I won't even bother to try to open a door. Just find a nice place to let the Entity take me.
I suppose it evens out.
-
I'd say it was fringe, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease as the saying goes. In the well over a year I've been playing I've only witnessed a hostage situation a few times.
Once while spectating I watched a Kate hold it hostage for about 15 minutes, which as one of the other survivors I reported.
The other was a wraith blocking the stairs for over 10 minutes keeping three survivors hostage, I was the fourth who avoided that, but they only stopped trapping the other survivors when the twitch streamer disconnected. In after game chat the killer said that was their intention.
The third was when I was playing huntress on swamp and an immersed Claudette and Meg were both keeping so well hidden I could not find either one for a good 30+ minutes - which is something EGC would not have prevented anyway since there were two survivors doing it.

It’s good if you haven’t memorized pallet or vault locations yet. Other than that, yeah it’s a waste
It could also be useful in telling you if pallets were used in an area or not.

@ba_tetsuo That is not true its almost a 50/50 chance on who finds the hatch first since it's totally random
the only advantage the killer has is being able to move a little faster than the survivor
Sometimes being able to move significantly faster than the survivor...then there is the fact that the survivor still doesn't want to be seen. Nobody is out there killing the killer so they can move freely anywhere they want without a care.
-
If it did not alert until after the first hook was done to activate it might be better. I use lullaby instead of Ruin, all I know is when I get it fully charged gens just grind to a halt and regress like crazy, alerts are coming in all over telling me where everyone is and what they are doing. You come across an occasional group that can focus through it, just like they can power through Ruin, but those are rare. I think it would be too strong as a non-hex perk as is though.
-
When it is fully charged it is more devastating than Ruin in my opinion, as it affects all skill checks.
-
Whenever I see the killer burn a Lery's offering I automatically know it will probably be scratched mirror Myers.
-
If you want to go back to the old days of the hatch, just say so.

Hatch is fixed now. However I agree that it should have stayed at 2 gens REQUIRED to open it.
But then you still got the 1 survivor, no gens done scenerio and no EGC, unless you are proposing the game just automatically kills the last survivor for you.

Adrenaline was never a big topic since release. But now, after nerfing healing speed to reduce genrush u see people not equipping self care at all and out if the sudden adrenaline is the issue.
People like you are not understanding that the issue is in the core and not in a perk.
And the healing nerf even encouraged survivors to gen rush harder as they 'adapted'. This is how it goes, they cry non-stop about a perk, when that gets nerfed they just move on to the next perk on their list. It was DS before adrenaline, and MoM coming on the scene took all the attention for awhile. Even if survivors were not allowed to use perks or items at all, they would still cry on about something - probably survivors being too stealthy or having the ability to throw pallets next.

New matchmaking system taking a bit more time to match people is all.

@legion_main said:
exactly this is 100% of what i am trying to say but apparently all these people think the last survivor deserves a free escape for doing nothing
How do you know they did nothing? Someone had to do hook saves. And if they did do nothing, they (greatly) helped you win.

I have tried 10+ times to use the damn thing, last survivor or 2nd to last DC's everytime.
They will often DC on the loading screen soon as they see the killer brought a mori. Well, with ebony you can effectively halve the amount of possible saves that could of been made plus heals, so, usually looking at a de-pip anyway.

It's only an unpopular opinion because 80% of these forums are Killer cry babies who wouldn't have the first idea of how to play Survivor without crouching around on the edges of the map waiting for better Survivors to loop Killers, rescue allies and complete gens against insurmountable odds of YEARS of killer buffs
He's not completely wrong - whenever I see a killer main playing survivor in a lobby I hesitate, because my experience if they are the first one caught (and they often are) they are the ones that DC first. If they don't you can expect to get sandbagged or farmed off the hook.
-
Out of context!
-
EGC is supposed to prevent a game hostage situation and do the killer's job when there is one survivor left. Going to save a survivor when they are being held hostage is not holding the game hostage. What you propose would be awesome for killer, now they just have to patrol and beat survivors off the gate exits for two minutes in order to kill everyone. Remember me would get a lot of use.
-
Wow you solved the problem with the last gen getting rushed, now how about the other four?
-
I do NOT want to sit behind a generator longer than I have to. And when there is 1-2 survivors left it is highly unlikely gens are going to get done anyway.

Replace DCed player with AI bot with indication for all that it is a bot. Let him do struggle, go for gens to repair, etc.
They might as well do a killer AI as well - when they hook you it just camps. Would replace half the killer base right there.
-
I can smell the DCs increasing already.
-
Why care if they DC on 3rd hook? Killer got his hooks and kill, survivors got their saves. Ranking up is more about how lucky you are than skill. You could run into a series of killers that do nothing but camp/tunnel, not only does that de-pip the victim, it denies emblems to other players. I just ran into a Freddy that did nothing all game, put no one in dreamworld - de-pips for everyone. Is that skill?
-
Solo experience gets worse every day. About 1 in 10 games is actually fun, where it's healthy all around, one or two people escape plenty of hooks. The other nine games you deal with campers, tunnelers, potato survivors, mismatches cause the matchmaking system likes to mix red rank with green ranks, DCs, ebony moris, and hillbilly/nurses that destroy your team.
-
No. Number of DCs that often steal a pip from you is just frustrating compounded by more difficulty in pipping. People go down so fast in matches it isn't even funny. The learning curve is high before you begin to do well.
-
Ranking is a joke, pipping is a joke, DCing is a joke - most games you play are a joke. I don't expect people to stick around a joke of a match when there is nothing to gain. Punishing will only go so far - they will just move on to another game and probably be thankful for it.

rank means nothing because it's too easy to rank up, they listen too much to guys that complained about being hard to rank up... for rank up you have to grind a little , that means repair/save/be chasesd/survive (destroy, hook, chase, kill). most players not ranking because they are only chased, or they don't save ... and that's why ranks are nothing.. my oppinion
Everyone has their own opinion I guess.

Thanks to Puppers, Monto, Boomer and Zubat for entertaining me. :)
Yes, there are days I would rather just watch or haunt these forums (like now) than play the game.

Plunderer's Instinct and hope luck is on your side. The one good thing about a closed hatch is it still makes noise.

Lol you're the classic survivor that expects killers to follow their imaginary unwritten rules. Killers/survivors shouldn't play a certain way based on what their opponents are doing because everyone is free to do whatever the ######### they want.
What I'm saying is what goes around comes around. Don't be whining about foul tactics leading to DCs from the other side when you are doing them.

As soon as I see a mori being burned I’m out. DC’ing before the game starts saves the other survivors from the mori bs as well.
Being able to take the survivor out of the game after one hook is poor design and unfair. Worst of all it encourages tunnelling. Countless times I have seen the killer with a mori tunnel the survivor straight off the hook to mori them, wow such fun for them.
So I just simply refuse to play with any suspected mori offering. Cypress mori is an example of a fair and balanced one.
Yeah with a mori (and it is probably ebony) in play you are looking at meager blood points and hardly any emblems. Not even worth starting the match.

I'm not bashing people for playing survivors except the bullies. I'm bashing the map and game design that allow for them to get away with so much without putting in much effort. I play both, I was playing survivor right before I played killer, and the differences where as always stark and contrasting. I was relaxed and barely had to think while playing survivor, and I could run the killer around and get gens done, I could force the killer to have to split between two half of the maps by myself, and I was playing solo. Compare to my killer game where I have to be on 110% mode at every moment with no time for a breather or relaxation because as soon as I finish a chase with somneone I have to run across the map to try and keep another gen from popping, and its just egregiously stressful and takes all of my focus. Thats all I'm saying is I would like for both sides of gameplay to come somewhere to the middle of these completely different feelings.
Maybe killer isn't for you. I find neither side stressful, but that is a state of mind if you put the stress to perform on yourself. However, both sides can be frustrating for different reasons.

Rank means nothing because it is based off luck way more than skill.

Honestly It’s not that bad as survivor. If you’re certain you are going to be the last survivor in the trial, just presume the killer will find the hatch first. So instead of trying to beeline for the hatch, find and camp one of the exit gates ready for when the killer closes it.
It’s far too risky to go searching for a hatch that the killer may already know where it’s located (killers are getting smarter at hunting it down BEFORE it opens). Know where your exit gates are. Be ready to open the safest one once the hatch has been closed.
It really sucks when the hatch spawns next to an exit.

Not really. Why would I spend bloodpoints on an item that way more often than not just saves me a few steps at best?
Same reason I would spend BP on an odd bulb or BNP or most all the other flashlight add-ons that do nothing. Kidding aside, thing I was getting at is a mori is still kind of special when it happens to me, if it became base kit it would become just a yawn.
-
That's not so bad - you need red/purple ranks sprinkled in there. Wish I was kidding. Happens to survivors a lot too. You might all be in the green ranks and a red rank killer is matched, which is stupid as well. How are players supposed to climb the ladder when being over matched unfairly? Red rank will probably safety pip but the other side gets de-pipped.
-
Does sound like a latency problem like getting hit after a vault when you clearly see yourself a good distance away after the killer swung. My closest hatch escape a spirit was right there I hit m1 and was escaping and she was trying to close it as well I saw her looking down at it, but ended up just hitting me in mid leap. Something else dedicated servers may help, I doubt anyone will look at this closer until after that happens. And to be clear - I did hit m1 first from my perspective, she just walked up a second later and was trying to close it, but I was in mid leap.
If it is opposite for the killer are they sure the survivor did not just find a key? That will happen often enough.

They could also make it so that you're able to kill one survivor after they're hooked twice. It saves you a hook, good for mori rituals and I believe mori'ing survivors after hooking them twice gives you more bps than hooking them three times.
I like this cypress could be used once after two hooks - that would be a buff making it almost a sure thing to get used, and save a run to a hook. I don't like the base kit idea, it makes mori way too common and after awhile becomes a very mundane, over used event to watch.
Besides, killers aren't really killers. They are the Entity's b-----es who feed it survivors.

@THEFREAK420 said:
So killers are supposed to LET you get rescued? Theyre not supposed to chase you down?(survivors call it tunneling if you chase them more than 3 seconds) People have tried to add their own little rules to tip the balance in their favor. You're not supposed to tunnel, or camp the hook, because they dont like it. Too bad. Its not against the rules for the killer to camp the hook. The killer is there to KILL you, by any means, not to make sure you have a good time. I cant count how many people who have messaged me crying that they are reporting me for camping or tunneling, Im being toxic. But flashlight spamming, body blocking, tbagging survivors aren't? If you Tbag or flashlight me, i make sure that person dies, i dont care if the other 3 get away. But since endgame collapse it seems like the rage quitting has increased if thats even possible. Maybe i'll just quit every match from now on when i see survivors play escape cake, or streamers or anthing else i dont like. Since its obvious the devs do nothing about it.
You're part of the problem and you don't even realize it. Deal is if survivors aren't being toxic pos then the killer shouldn't be a toxic pos, but most killers never turn that off.
-
I also feel it is kind of insensitive to just call out gg like a robot. Most games it was not a gg for people so why lie like it was?
-
Yeah, I will say majority of games I usually spawn with one or two others, sometimes all 4 survivors in same place (and no one used that offering). If the killer is a whispers user they find all of us pretty quick. I cannot get away from other survivors fast enough, I like spawning alone.
Noticed on some maps it is a pattern, three survivors spawn together while the 4th spawns alone - like Lery's.

@feechima its only really a nerf to finding the hatch first the actual endgame would not be affected
If I prevent 4 to 5 gens for being done I should be rewarded like it previously was where the hatch did not spawn so I think any of these would be a reasonable change
Well if hatch did not spawn so you could close it, how would EGC start? That's right - you are now in a stalemate with a survivor who could just hide for hours, the very thing they were trying to eliminate.
Oh I see - so when there is only one survivor left it is auto win. Glad you don't design games.
-
@legion_main said:
@Poweas the rework was supposed to make it so the killer wouldn't have to slug and prevent hatch standoffs only the standoffs were eliminated
Plus I shouldn't have to slug and find the last brain dead survivor thats sitting in a locker waiting for the hatch to spawn even though they havent done anything all game
How do you know they didn't do anything all game? If they did indeed do nothing, they actually helped you way more than the other survivors. Other survivors should be the judge of that, not the killer.
