Hook gymnastics meant the killer is camping. Full stop.
However, so many new players have begun playing and decided the opposite is true. They don't want to accept the already established signal for some reason.
If someone is waving their arms while hooked, I'm continuing my gens. If they're not waving their arms and I go to get them, only to find they're being camped... I'm going back to my gens. I've had people send salty messages about not going to unhook them - - I just sent the screenshot of the DBD Wiki about hook gymnastics. If people want to try to alter the signals, that's fine...just don't expect to be saved.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the tome
In a community where people are proudly toxic, yeah. I'm sure they're aaaalll innocent and the ONLY reason people are hooking in the basement is because of the challenges. 🤡

Yeah, it's not like there are challenges that require basement hooks or even multiple at the same time.... Ofcourse it's more likely that people want to abuse a bug than do the challenges...
Yeah, and all of a sudden EVERY killer is working towards this achievement. 🙄
Just like every survivor who exploited SB didn't know, right?

Funny you should say that, the permanent flashlight blind bug is still active. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/92693/permanently-blinded-by-flashlight
OK, COOL! Still doesn't happen almost every single match to multiple survivors. Flashlight blinds can also be avoided most of the time. That's definitely a huge disadvantage but the killer's FOV is not looking at the sky, completely rendering him useless.
By the way, why does it always come down to, "but but but this happens" like a cold who got in trouble and wants to turn around and rat their sibling out? If only people would stop with the whataboutisms and instead demand that the dev's immediately remedy these situations that are particularly gamebreaking..

So you are ignoring the wake up bug which made games unwinnable for killers since they end less than 3 minutes. You never asked for comparisons and I never said they were comparable you asked for bennifitial bugs on the survivors side and those would still make the game unwinnable for the killer as the basement bug is doing for the survivor.
Difference is, you still got to finish your game and get your points even with the Wake Up exploit.
Imagine having a game as killer where as soon as you hook a survivor or get pallet stunned, you're unable to see or do anything. It would be fixed in a hot second. Hell, we were stuck with the bug of being able to see survivor's auras on gens for over a week before it was fixed...it's ridiculous.
At the end of the day, this bug is game breaking for survivors

Your survivor benifit bugs were wake up which gave the bonus to all actions not just doors and infinite sprint burst neither of which were fixed immediately people were complaining for a good while.
Bonus action versus a bug where you can't finish your game AT ALL, gee....it really IS the same thing! 🙄
Sprint Burst exploit =/= to the basement bug. It's not even a comparison. Sure, exploiting a perk sucks and should be punishable...but this basement glitch completely robs you of the chance to play the rest of the game. To say the basement big is comparible to the SB exploit is dishonest.
-
It's highly unfair. Sure, *some* may not know about the glitch...but let's be real. If you play this game regularly, you know what's going on. Let's not pretend like every killer is doing it on accident - - everyone is all of a sudden running Agitation and Iron Grasp and going to the basement. It's not just a huge coincidence. We KNOW people like to exploit bugs to their advantage.
That being said, it's crap as survivor - - we're deranking rapidly because of killers purposely hooking in the basement. Rank isn't too important, but when you're in red ranks it sucks to derank sure to something not your fault. I'm waiting on a glitch that benefits survivors for a change, bet that would be fixed immediately!

I change the way I play slightly.
I know with every SWF group I've played with, they have a "eff that random, let them die" mindset. They're more likely to sandbag the random, won't rush to save them, won't go back to save them, etc. They're more concerned with themselves and their SWF. I go into solo games expecting to get the "eff that random" treatment - - I expect that others won't take hits for me, won't heal me, won't make safe saves, will leave me hooked, etc. I tend to stay stealthy and get my objectives done: pop gens, cleanse totems, evade the killer. I'll definitely heal my teammates and will make saves only if I know it's safe for both of us. I am definitely more cautious about altruism until I can assess how my teammates treat me: if they seem like they're working as a team and show me altruism, I'll definitely go out of my way to help them, even if it means sacrificing myself for them. I do play more selfishly as a solo survivor, but if my teammates seem productive and play as a team, I'll definitely reciprocate. If everyone seems like they're out for themselves, I'll do the same.
-
Loops are one of the only defense mechanisms survivors have. Pallets are unreliable because half the time, other survivors slam them down and waste them all OR they don't respond to an attempt to slam it. Loops can be the only chance survivors have to escape from the killer.
As a killer, you have options: mindgame them (it CAN be done, you've just gotta commit and outgame them...certain killers make it easier, especially with aura reading add ons) or stop wasting your time trying to chase that survivor nonstop. Most of the good loops are on one side of the map, so most survivors can't run all the way across the map to access that loop unless you're weak as a killer. In that case, accept your L and move on to the next survivor.
And they frequently adjust loops and RNG in maps. It doesn't matter because even if they fixed one, killer mains will find another "unfair" reason to complain about. No matter how much they tweak the maps, people will still have something to gripe about or find another aspect to blame.
-
I play solo and run Self-care consistently.
Here's my reasoning: You can't always rely on randoms. Yes, you're supposed to be working as a team, but many players are out to win. I've encountered some petty teammates, so I choose to be able to heal myself if I need to.
Secondly, some teammates refuse to heal you because they want to get gens popped. I get it, really. If we worked in that gen and popped it and then you decide to heal me, it's too risky. Bitter Murmur exists and killers often go to gen pops to investigate if not in a chase. Me being injured puts me at a disadvantage because the killer will go for the injured one. Some players also just refuse to heal others in general because they focus on gens, chests, totems, etc.
If I find a med kit or survivor who will heal me (and we won't even get into survivors who miss skill checks and regress your healing progress then run away), great! I prefer that as opposed to having myself. I tend to play in a stealthy manner because chases aren't my strongest suit. This means I'm usually one of the last people alive. If the one other remaining teammate is being chased and about to be hooked, me being able to heal myself is imminent. Crying out, groaning, leaving blood trails....it's doing nothing but removing my ability to evade the killer when they have their sole attention on finding me. Not being able to heal up in that last stage is life or death. I'll always run Self-care because it's critical to my game play style.

Tunneling is a show of insecurity. When you focus on one survivor until they die, you're A) ruining someone's game play, B) too insecure that you have the skills to secure a kill any other way, and C) neglect the 3 other survivors. Those survivors get to relax and focus on gens, totems, and chests (& finding tools that aid their survival). Killers who hook a survivor and then put pressure on the other survivors and regress gens are generally the most nerve-wracking, because they are not allowing survivors to let their guard down. You tunnel one survivor incessantly, you can't complain about instaheals (it's only fair) or gens popping left and right.
And when I play killer, if someone is stupid enough to make an unsafe hook...of course I'll down the unhooked survivor. But I leave them. And then I pursue the idiot unhooked and give the other teammates time to up the downed survivor. If they don't get him up after a minute, then he's fair game. But I have no problem avoiding tunneling because in my opinion, it screams weakness.
Also - survivors shouldn't depip from being tunneled.
-
SWF doesn't mean an automatic loss for the killer. Majority of the time it's an easy 4k because they're way too altruistic, to the point of being stupid. Sure, you get those random ninja groups who are quick and perfectly coordinated...but that's not the rule, but an exception. And let's not forget that survivors having flashlights mean they're actual good with them. I don't mind hard games with A SWF squad because I like the challenge and improving my game play. Killers shouldn't dodge because they're scared, that's crazy. They shouldn't be able to see survivor's game tags until after the match, either.
-
Reducing blood points is pointless because no one really cares about them unless there's a new killer or survivor. Camping killers should also feel the wrath of the Entity, and they should implement a serious downside to camping, whether a speed reduction for time spent within a certain distance of a hooked survivor or gen speed gets a boost if the killer is camping. Taking blood points away isn't enough of a deterrent, there needs to be something that could impede on their game play for the entire round. Camping, go ahead...but you're gonna lose your advantage.
-
It seems to happen mostly with Legion, in my personal experience. Doesn't matter what map, but it prevents you from healing yourself, healing others, and mending. Any Legion running Bloodhound can get an easy 4k because no one can heal or mend.

I dont dodge toxic survivors, I block them to avoid being matched with them again survivors can do the same
Blocking a player doesn't prevent you from being placed in a lobby with them, does it? I thought it just prevented communication.
-
Yeah, I personally think that a survivor shouldn't depip if they're camped and tunneled. Some nights you can face tunneler after tunneler and not have a chance to preserve your rank, and you get punished for a killer's cheap game methods. They should implement a safety pip in the case of being tunneled.
-
There are perks to help combat gen rushing (Ruin, Thanatophobia, Thrilling Tremors, Corrupt Intervention) and you shouldn't spend that much time chasing one survivor, at least not at high ranks. You spend too much time on one chase, the other survivors are going to get gens done unless you apply pressure to the map. I do agree about toolboxes though, especially when you have a SWF who all run Prove Thyself with toolboxes and add-ons.
And truth be told...each game is really a crap shoot. Not every match is gonna be like that!

" it's like no one has the skill to 4k without tunneling anymore". Replace the word skill with time. It's insanely difficult to 4k against good survivors while keeping the fun factor high. Sad truth.
I don't know, but when I play killer I go out of my way to not camp and tunnel, and still get a 3 or 4k. Not having the time is a silly excuse IMO, because if you can only get kills by camping and tunneling...well, like we tell survivors: take your L. As killers, we're gonna win some and lose some. I take muuuuch more pride in my 4ks when I know I didn't tunnel one person relentlessly to ensure a kill. And in those games where I get outplayed (some SWF are soooo coordinated and good it's absurd), I take my loss and move on knowing that I gave it an honest shot.
-
I agree. Killers can dodge certain survivors - I've gone into a full lobby where the killer and survivors are readied up and as soon as I load in, the killer dodges. It's usually always someone I've gone against before. They can avoid survivors who have been toxic or are just really good...why can't survivors do the same? I have a list of killers that I would love to avoid...and not because of being beaten, but because of relentless tunneling, camping, slugging, griefing, etc. Like Twinbros says, if killers are being repeatedly dodged , maybe they should assess their game play methods. So many killers brag about not caring about fair game play and boast about their camp/tunnel strategy, claiming they don't care about other people's experiences...so let them reap what they sow.

Exactly. Tracking by breathing is the only real counter Killers have against super immersed survivors that don't want to do generators.
I'm sorry, but stealth doesn't have a place in this game. Go play Death Garden or Metal Gear Solid if you want to pretend to be a lawn ornament and never move.
If I come within 2 meters of you, I am entitled to know of your presence due to you breathing. That's how this game works. That's how the designers intended the game to work. Arguing anything else is pointless as the game is not designed around stealth and never was.
If you've been RUNNING, and STOP. I'm supposed to hear you from even further away, around 3 or 4ish meters.
Wait - how can you say stealth has no place in this game?! There are various perks specifically designed to help stealth. That's like people claiming that camping was never intended to be a viable strategy, even though Insidious is a perk. Stealth is one of the most important aspects for survivors imo.
-
A killer who remains close to a hooked survivor is slowly drained of speed by the entity, which consumes without prejudice. How about a slight speed reduction for killers who camp, not enough to ruin their chances at a 4k but enough to dampen the rest of their game? If you're in an X amount of distance, you lose X% of speed. Maybe that would be enough to persuade campers to stop wasting time near a hooked survivor and apply adequate pressure on the map.
In reality, when I play survivor...tunneling is MUCH more of a problem than camping. Tunneling has been *extremely* problematic lately, it's like no one has the skill to 4k without tunneling anymore. 97% of my survivor games are nothing but tunneling, even when you explicitly try to distract and offer yourself as easy prey to help your fellow teammate get away. Tunneling needs to be punished in some sort of way, or at the very least make it to where survivors don't lose pips for being tunneled.
-
It would be nice if DS was an automatic ability for survivors, what since 95% of killers camp and tunnel anymore. At the very least, they should prevent survivors from depipping when tunneled. If a survivor starts next to the killer (which happens aaaall the time...and I usually ignore them to give them a fair start since the spawning shenanigans isn't their fault), then get camped and tunneled...they should safety pip just because they didn't get a fair chance.
-
Seems like they keep making survivors louder, which makes being stealthy much more difficult. You'd think that since Meg is an athlete, she'd be able to run ten feet without sounding like she's having an asthma attack...

I play mostly Survivor because I would rather get into a game instantly then have to wait 10 minutes for a game as a Killer. I enjoy the game. I get camped, tunneled, looped and everything else everyone on here complains about.
I don't DC if I get tunneled or face camped. I just move on to the next game.
I'm a completionist so I'm working on finishing up my P3 Claudette (have all perks, just need to finish ranking them to 3). Then I'll move on to maybe Jake or even a Killer. Haven't decided yet.
If you're getting this worked up over a game, don't play it. There's 1000's of games out there that can entertain you. I'll never understand these people that keep doing something they don't enjoy.
If the game dies due to lack of interest, that's on BHVR.
Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Then don't do that.
Lol, I main survivor. I occasionally play killer, but 75% of the time I run solo survivor. Wait time for solo survivor is generally less than 5 minutes max, shorter for killer. I keep frequently getting lobbied with P3 survivors with top tier perks and play a damn good game who are conveniently rank 14, going against a rank 16 killer. As a red rank survivor, even I can admit it's not fair. I would rather be camped and tunneled by a sweaty red rank killer than have a completely unbalanced match versus a low rank killer with only two perk slots open and basic tier one perks. It's not about taking the game too seriously, it's about people always wanting to have a guaranteed win but refuse to play people in their rank and instead get unfairly matched with newer killers. If newer killers get repeated lobbies with these deranking SWF, they're gonna ditch the game, leading to the disproportionate survivor/killer ratio.
-
@CotJocky said:
It seems pretty straight forward to me. Not many survivors want to have long wait times, play the same killer over and over, and play killers who are generally unfun and super sweaty. If you get demolished every match it becomes unfun to play. If you can reward people enough to want to be in the Red Ranks (extra BP per match or something of the like), then people will want to be there. This will cause more people to strive to be a Red Rank, causing more people to be in the Red Ranks and therefore diluting the pool of "sweaty" killers so not every match is miserable to play. By simply rewarding people to be there, it fixes all the problems.
Stop trying to change human nature by punishing them. Reward them for being selfish and in turn cause everyone's game play to be more fun and rewarding. It's called ######### capitalism. It just works!
Except vice versa - no new killer wants to go against sweaty survivors who purposely derank so they have a better chance at surviving. There's a lack of red rank killers, sure - - but letting veteran survivors demolish potential killer mains is not gonna help fix the killer shortage.

I took almost 2 months off.
I was Rank 15.. I’ve played 15 hours in two weeks, I think I am Rank 8 now.
Some people just casually play or rarely play now, it doesn’t mean they all are purposely deranking.
Okay sure, but I'm not talking about random people who simply took a month off. We're talking groups of SWF who purposely derank.

They might aswell have taken a longer break from the game, my survivor is quite low at the moment too
I mean, you can make excuses all day but it doesn't change the fact that PURPOSELY DERANKING is going to deter new killers from the game.

@Master said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/50792/purposely-depipping-is-becoming-problematic
Prestige and items show only playtime, not skilled.
There are lots of survivors at red rank1 with those stuff that actually belong to the yellow ranks.
But the actual problem is that there is literally no reason to rank up
You can easily tell by game play alone that they're not a real rank 15 survivor. It's not merely game play amount. Especially with how many bloodpoints it takes to get all of the best tier 3 perks, teachable?! You have to cycle through 3 entire bloodwebs to get P3 clothing. You have to be earning enough bp every match to make that happen, and surely they learn how to play well enough to pip because pipping isn't very difficult as a survivor. It's not that hard to tell that they're red or even purple rank loafing in lower ranks for a reason. Sure, there's some red ranks that are boosted by SWF and are out for themselves, but we're talking about red rank survivors purposely deranking to get easier games and wrecking genuinely new killers. Without killers, this game is dead.
