an insta down is an insta down. you get 3 chances then you have to break off the chase and find someone again.
the issue is people run up to huntress and try to get in the aiming dead zone, then they realize their mistake and pitch a fit about it.
if the huntress is hitting crossmap shots don't you think the down is deserved?
GF can mark and down you just as quick if you aren't paying attention. Billy can rush across the map and hit you while you're walking. Myers has to work for it but can still 99, get up close and you're done.
Billy you'll hear and see him coming - Myers still has decent terror radius and still needs to close the gap. Huntress with her non-directional lullaby going for her now, you often get a distorted idea where she is coming from, then she is suddenly on top of you.
-
This is why I hate people who get hooked in the basement at end game. You should be thankful they even went down there for you.

I personally hit great skillchecks without ruin 99% of the time. However, with ruin it dips down a bit to 70-ish% for some reason. Idk if it's the colour, fps, or the actual great skillcheck zone being smaller
Probably more pressure to hit a great skill check under Ruin to avoid the progress halt. Color of the check does not matter to me though white skill checks next to bright lights or fire are more concealed to me I have to look off to the side.
I'll hit great Ruin checks consistently unless...another survivor is working on the same gen; I get performance anxiety.

You would complain about a cross map hatchet shot but id just clap at that huntress considering she could do that that would be like the best thing ive ever seen. Like are you negative even in the best of scenarios? Just wondering.
Becomes a bit less impressive as most of those cross map hits are due to a bbq/chili read. The iridescent heads are rather strong since most huntresses will just run up close before trying to hit you anyway. The downside is one hatchet but most run with infantry belt, I've only ever encountered one huntress who only had one shot iri.
I never use them when I huntress - they're not very fun to me and definitely not to my target. Many people won't bother playing against that and it's understandable why.

To me he is the most ugly char by far. When I see one in my lobby he dies, no matter what.
I'm scared of opening up a locker and finding one inside.
-
Guess killer is easy. How'd she do as a survivor?
-
Basically it - if killer is camping you either need to have lucky timing, some hook tech, or just not save unless you don't mind just trading hooks. I would also recommend running DS - it is almost mandatory with these current killers.
-
The little gear charm looks good on my waist. Overall the big problem I had with it is the challenges often seemed to be too similar too close together. Like having to do 4 flashlight blinds, then the very next challenge was doing a flashlight save. Or the healing ones where you had 2-3 healing challenges right after another. They need to mix those up more.
-
@The_Second_Coming said:
"PC skillchecks are easy" - Tell that to all the red rank players who all die cause they need to destroy ruin to have a chance.
Yes. And they also destroy Ruin not just for that, but because it does far more than just force great skill checks to progress. It denies any progression bonus (+3%) when you do hit great skill checks, increases risk of blowing a gen trying for a great skill check, and good skill checks not only deny you any bonus points (+50) and regresses the gen, but double dips and completely stops any progress for a few seconds, potentially generating even more skill checks.
-
Escape rate depends on many factors, luck being a major one. Things such as playing more selfish, knowing how not to be the first (or last) target of the killer, or offering up other survivors as sacrifices in order to get the hatch (hook farming), you will increase your own escape rate at the cost of others.
So it all makes complete sense. More altruistic players who go for saves at end game tend to have a lower survival rate as well as opposed to those who just escape and leave the other survivors to their fate.
-
I'm a non repentant skimmer with a short attention span for reading. If you don't grab my attention in the first sentence, I will either ignore the post or lightly comment on what I read so far. Most times I am not even commenting on the OP, but to another's comment.
-
Now put them in the basement as bait. Survivors cannot resist basement cookies and you will have a 4k in no time.
I've been jumping on killer myself lately (PC) but I get about the same wait times no matter the side.
-
I like going up against survivors who are decent and know what they are doing. I don't like hunting survivors who do not - feels like clubbing baby seals to death. Rank does not seem to matter though you run into better loopers. Usually there's only one though, but if all are good at looping (and I cannot blame them for getting good at it, the game demands it) then I'll just meme that game. In any case I try to lose with dignity and won't face camp or tunnel (on purpose) - just accept that some games RNG is totally against me.
What I won't do it go into a game and say 'I'm getting a 4k no matter what' - that just makes me perform badly. I just let things happen.

It’s only wasting “everyone’s” time if you allow it. At best, it’s wasting the Killers time and the hooked Survivors time. If you CHOOSE to sit there idly and watch, that’s your fault. That’s the only “toxic” strategy a killer has. Literally 3 more survivors can complete the objective within the window.
No, it wastes everyone's time. Even if three survivors do all the gens and make it out best the survivors can hope for is safety pip (probably de-pip) and way less blood points than in a healthy game. Killer is definitely not going to have any blood points and will de-pip -- waste of everyones time.
-
Red ranks aren't for everyone - you are more likely to come across survivors who know the game and aren't just lambs waiting to be slaughtered. Though that may change with the new rank reset rules - more lambs are probably finding their way into red. Full SWF who know the game are just going to win most times - history shows good intel usually wins wars. I'll usually just go into meme mode at that point.
Like have been stated previously getting fixated and sweaty on killing everyone just puts stress on yourself to the point you will actually perform poorly or toss away any human decency. Let what happens happen.
-
Usually such a player will be able to face camp two people in a game - not every swf and especially not solos are coordinated enough to know to just knock out gens in this scenario and keep the damage to one. The worst thing that can happen is one gets face camped while the other three survivors are crouching around the area trying to make a save. That's the worst thing I can see if I get camped - no one doing gens and wasting my distraction time on the hook. With no gens are getting done it is highly likely he will get away with face camping everyone.
It is a toxic playstyle done on purpose to waste everyone's time. No one is getting anything useful in points or emblems.

I'd love to see you try to hurl yourself at a right angle through a window sometime.
But I know realism is a bad argument for balancing games so the true answer is because when you could fast vault from any angle windows were too strong. So they took it away. Easy. Either have the distance to get through the window or go down. If you don't think you'll have the distance, either don't vault or accept you might get hit.
You'd probably be amazed at what you and other people could do while being chased by a ten foot tall monster with a chainsaw.

The devs have been pretty firm on this particular issue. As long as it's being used to dodge lobbies, they don't want to have it ingame.
The main reason for that is that lobby dodging increases time spent in queues and lobbies for everyone involved. Because they're currently trying to make changes to the matchmaking system to minimise queue times, they feel that it would be counter-productive to leave a feature in the game which does the opposite.
So there's a double standard since killers have been dodging lobbies since the dawn of DBD.
I don't see any reason to keep it hidden - a lot of people will just find it interesting and others, well, guess they can have the option to take on the job that the failed matchmaking does not do.
-
@supersonic853 said:
Proxy camping itself is a dumb phrase if i know other survivors will come to save you or are nearby why wouldnt i stick around?
Of course other survivors will come to save - what choice do they have, let everyone die on first hook I suppose.
-
The scream of a wraith when burned or pallet slammed - it's just so calming for me to hear.
-
You don't even have to download it - just needs to be in your steam library.
-
Problem with people and that challenge they just race everyone they catch straight to the basement making it obvious what they are doing. Plus I expect them to camp or least sit nearby waiting for the save notification so they can rush right in. Why would I even go near the basement at that point?
Besides - rule number one for any survivor should be 'don't get hooked in the basement ever'.
-
@dkyguy1995 said:
Who the ######### thinks hooking people in the basement is toxic? I just don't get why there are so many killers who have given into the survivor mentality of "playing by the rules." Since when is this game about being nice? The basement has been and always will be part of the game. There is nothing wrong with it. Do you all really obey the survivor rulebook and never run noed and never hook in the basement?
Again...it isn't the hooking in the basement that's toxic it's the usual camp and tunnel that comes after for this challenge that is toxic.
-
Depends - if other survivors are demonstrating very poor tactics, such as running up to save me, while injured, when the killer is chasing them, and with two other healthy survivors still in play who can make a safe save - I might just slip.
A lot of these suicides are actually a statement to bad survivors on their side, not just killers.

Yeah the "free escapes" never bothered me. What does bother me and pretty much everyone who plays killer are the toxic hatch escapes during chase and the toxic everyone immediately escapes from one single key. Keys would be pretty balanced if these unhealthy behaviors were addressed.
Yeah you probably run into that - as a solo I'm usually the one left behind as the killer slams the hatch down cause I never got the memo. So I see things very differently.
-
@Papamodzz said:
The only toxic part is the surviors dcing when ur going down to the basement and as for killer its only toxic if u do sit there and proxy camp but i did it without camping and 3rd try with traper on the doctors map its map depending and if u get altruistic players which i did lol
Well if you are sporting and they feel like they have a chance to make a basement save and actually get to play the game instead of hanging in a basement, it is less toxic. But really, most killers are not like that and like I said - it starts to feel very toxic when you run into several killers in a night trying to do it. You know most of them also need repeated attempts.
-
Some consider it a free escape even though you had to either complete enough gens for the hatch to show or pay enough blood in survivor deaths for it to show.
But hey killers get all those free kills from EGC now - so what's the problem?
I really feel if the hatch was gone the game would be far less interesting for survivors to play. That hatch is what keeps them playing til the end when all other hope is lost. Plus I would not even touch this game unless I was in an swf. In solo play, I don't take any pride in having to use the hatch, I consider it a consolation prize for being RNG'ed into a bad group.
-
There's lots of reasons they would rather die than play with you, but suicide has always been an option. If they are looking at a de-pip and pitiful points anyway there is zero, ZERO, incentive to keep them playing that round. It is far more efficient to simply take your loss and move on to what could be a more stimulating round.
-
Good killer - poor sportsman.
I don't know why you are asking a question when you already have the answer.
-
@Superyoshiegg said:
How is asking killers to hook survivors in the basement promoting toxic behaviour?
The game isn't forcing you to use less then favourable tactics to do so; that's of your own accord.
It's what comes after that gets toxic - once they easily get someone in the basement they just camp nearby waiting for the save to nail everyone. Now run across this scenario several times a game night with different killer players all trying to do the challenge and it gets very toxic very fast.
-
I used BL on my Meg way before the exhaustion nerfs left it as the best exhaustion perk - made Meg feel athletic. Now it's off her bar, I just don't use it anymore. It was always situational, very dependent on the map, now it's not even worth a spot to me since a killer perk like blood echo or a killer add-on can simply rob the once per chase use.
-
So deep down, they were right about you after all. Guess they won, they made another just like them.
-
@Myers_loves_KFC said:
For example, if a killer needs 5 bear trap captures and downs you then motions for you to step on them till its done, will you do it? As killer I sometimes do this for the really bs challenges but of course let them escape if its end game or let them off until I find them again if theres some 3 gens left
Depends - if he hasn't been a tunneling, camping prick all game, sure. If he killed everyone else then tries to make nice so I step in his traps or do whatever, I am far less likely to cooperate as well since he's just going to kill me anyway.

I feel like it's getting harder and harder to survive in Red ranks. As a Survivor I feel so powerless to stop my team from getting downed in 5 seconds just like the Shack pallet. We're at that point where a red rank doesn't know borrowed time exist. Even playing as a Killer I get easy wins and I can only complain about SWF because those are the people playing like their actual ranks. It's just pallet drop after pallet drop and run in a straight line.
Please buff Survivor brain, Thanks.
You play solo? That's probably the first problem - besides not having comms or dependable friends who won't DC on you, you now have to contend with rank reset change that cannot help but promote bad survivors to ranks they don't belong; along with the terrible matchmaking that does not care a whit about ranks.

No problem! I think it has to do with the inflated amount of survivors in red/purple ranks.
I don't know - maybe I'm just more sensitive lately, but that could be it. The amount of bad survivors in these ranks who don't even have common sense seems to be dilute the pool of good survivors I run across and that just means more over performing for killers I guess.

Didnt they get rid of it like when Huntress came out 😳😳 it was soooo long ago. I always thought it was u fair and to rob points for struggling
Maybe, I don't remember - I just know it was probably leftover for when they wanted to speed up end game, but now there's EGC, so it's kind of just robbing the last survivor of a chance, albeit a very small chance.
-
Works against exposed and timed broken - like was already suggested in another thread today.

Greetings I would like to proposetto devs they add:
- Casual matches: SWF is allowed its casual. You get bloodpoints.
- Ranked matches:SWF not allowed (Ranked are made to test your skill as player, killer go solo so survivors too), you get bloodpoints, it opens each 4h for 2h (for example)
- 8 survivors vs 2 killers mode: You can play with another friends (max 2 friends) or solo (to avoid 8 survivors SWF abuse). Killers can kill with his friends too (2 killers). Mode open each 4h for 2h (Not really same time as ranked)
- Random mode: Killers and survivors start game with aleatory perks and add ons and items. Would be funny and maybe you would find a new build you would like.
- The traitor:A new mode were a survivor act as servant of the entity and gives points for several actions that delay game or hinders survivors. Last 5 mins then all survivors have to vote who was the traitor. If they guess traitor get x1, 5 blood points and exp if they don't traitor get 1,5 bloodpoints and exp.Actions that hinder survivors could be like go to a survivor while he is in chase, fail a skill check, pallet drop crazily. Gens needed to repair 4.
This are only a sketch for new modes no need to be like this exactly just giving ideas. Specially the 8 vs 2 that much people asked for
Casual matches - That's already KYF, this mode is just a plot to get rid of swf and would never get played as killers would just avoid it and solos would just avoid it.
Ranked - they would have to rebalance again for solo and the mode would probably die out because many people who even play this game like to do so socially with friends,
8 vs 2 - If it did become popular, which I doubt, maps would need to change (I can just see one killer blocking the basement while the other collects survivors) and it would split the player base. Something this game really should not do.
Random mode - again probably never played as there is enough RNG in the game already.
Traitor - that's like half my matches as solo now. I don't need a mode for this and it is just going to end up being annoying and hated.

Survivor is very chill compared to killer, but it does make killer easier due to more players in the lower ranks meaning those really good survivors are split up more often unless SWF but SWF has always been broken. personally i like it this way but now they just need to fix the DCs and people killing themselves on first hook and ill be happy as thats what ruins the game most for me, not a team that isnt the strongest.
I play exclusively solo and I get very irritated I cannot just kill some of my fellow survivors like a killer could.

Whether you're toxic, mean, salty, or sweaty, I still appreciate you.
What's something about the community and playerbase (not the game itself) that you appreciate?
Happy holidays! <3

having said that i much prefer this way, its nice to know youre capable to maintain that rank no matter the killer, perks or map. but dont get hung up on ranks, for me the worst thing in this game are double pip`s even more so as killer. but survivor is pretty chill at red ranks
I don't know about chill I probably get just as irritated with most of the survivors I play with as any killer would.
It's even worse lately - just cannot put me finger on it. :/

It's for balance. She can hit hatchets across the map so I'm guessing it's to give survivors a little more awareness. It isn't directional anymore so unless you can clearly see her, you won't know where she is or which way she's going. Her actual terror radius is really small and can be miniscule with monitor and abuse.
Used to be for balance because of that. But a few updates ago they made her lullaby non-directional so it now greatly helps her by confusing people, sounds like she is in front of you when she is actually behind you for instance.
-
It is toxic because it forces out the worst tactics in order to achieve it. You can just wait for it to happen - but how many are going to do that with it constantly reminding you.
And Spirit - haha, yeah I guess that is easy then.
-
Pretty much no - it's a toxic challenge.
-
Ah the echo? Seems like it comes and goes since they made her lullaby non-directional. It was very noticeable in The Game maps to me when they first made the lullaby change. I don't know if this is something everyone hears - recently, I haven't heard it; or if this has something to do with people's audio setup.
