Could just be a recency bias making it seem more common than it actually is. Any killer worth their salt knows that facecamping is just a petty tactic.
Just move on to the next match whenever it happens. Hardly anyone will get rescued without hook switching in that scenario.

Doesn't the first line of your comment literally prove that they do take factors other than stats into account?
When I said 'they', I should have said 'he'. Considering the comment is aimed at Ethan and his questionable quotes concerning stats.
-
I think it might just be my ping allowing me to get those slightly out of reach hits. But now I have to get used to the actual lunge distance.
But... yeah, mostly on doc for whatever reason.

Strong how?
His POTD is too easy to dodge when trying to play him on console
Especially easy considering his counter is moving slightly to the left or right.

You would have to pay to unlock perks.
I hate to tell ya this... but uhhh... you already kind of have to do that for a decent amount of perks.
-
One thing they could do is buff summoning stone. As it stands, the pallet blocker only lasts 6 seconds.
When you hit a survivor with lethal rush, you are stunned for 3 seconds. Meaning the pallet block is already halfway over. The timer is already too fast, but the stun you have to eat to activate it makes the addons even more useless.

You can't punish SWF.
You also can't really nerf SWF either without hitting solos as well.
Really the only thing they can do is buff solos, then buff killers accordingly.

at this point behaviour should stop using statistics as an excuse for their illogical decisions and just do them, it's not like anything is going to change on community feedback anyways
Stats have their place, but not when the stats are so heavily skewed it can barely even be called stats.

So, I want to bring something up.
Let's see the chart:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VV799GPBPFZF/image.png
So, there is chart where they said Legion is a solid mid-tier. But they also said that Nurse and Blight were misleading due to their required skill, which is totally fine. However, that means that for the sake of this chart, you remove those two Killers. Now, Legion is technically lower on the chart. This idea that he is mid tier is being masked by the fact that they have two killers on that chart that push some of the other low tier Killers up. The same thing could be said about Pyramid Head, as he was still fairly new at the time. My point being, even using their own chart, Legion is NOT the middle of the road Killer they claim if they go by their own sentiments concerning the lowest two and newer Killers.
Gotta love skewed stats
-
Yeah, stridor screws up the distance that you can hear them from.
Only ever comes in handy when they have iron will. Which is surprisingly not terribly often.
-
I'd say blight deserves A tier or higher, just for undying alone.

Isn't Nurse at like the lowest pick rate? So by their logic does that mean the strongest killer needs to be buffed?
Yep, she is, but apparently they know enough from the community not to buff her.
Just wish they would consider other aspects beyond what "the stats" tell them.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I still hate the fact that OoO, one of the most antifun perks in the game, is not getting changed because "stats". Same thing with Legion, one of the most underwhelming killers to play as and one of the most boring to go against.
It really makes me lose faith on the balance decisions of this game.
It's wierd, considering even McCote had to remind him that stats aren't everything.

Clown was an intern for a dentist when he was a kid, that could be considered healthcare albeit for a short while.
High priestesses like Plague would have been the healers of the ancient world, which is why people came to her for healing from the actual plague.
Blight was a chemist and studied at a school of medicine, he could've easily become a doctor.
Bubba knows the human body the way a butcher knows pig or cow carcasses- I'm sure he knows which parts go where (lol)
Rin might have been a pre-med in college? (I'm just screwing around now XD)
Plus Doctor never even got his doctorate! (the fraud!)

Simple solution, make it an iridescent, and make the one that makes survivors scream a purple.

Yep, RNG at it's finest.
That's why ( some ) hexes are powerful. They are supposed to make the potential bad RNG worth it for their effect.

I also hate how aim dressing just forces me to miss sometimes >:(
Like, i wanted to hit the survivor in front of me and not the air around me
Nah man, pretty sure you were aiming for that air, like about 99% sure.
I've had aim dressing pull me towards a rock while lunging. They really need to look into that because it is actually an abusable function of the game.
Especially when some survivors know how to move just right to make your lunge end early without getting hit.
-
I love how they overhaul the look of the maps. But I dislike the ground textures that look like pure dirt.
The old maps have all sorts of debris in their ground textures, but the new ones don't. Making them less visually rich than the old textures.
-
It sucks, but she's decided to go for you. She isn't obligated to abandon you just because you have trap on your head.

It would also require more time invested both to set those effects up, and maintain/regress them.
Probably would be better off improving a universal audio cue.
I guess expecting effort out of BHVR is a pipe dream anyway.
But still, a man can dream.

What do you mean? Oni's Iridescent Family Crest is great! /s
Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. BHVR seems terrified to make good add-ons anymore, especially the higher tier ones. It's astonishing to see how game-changing and great older character's Add-Ons are (Like Iri Stone or All-Seeing Blood) and... Basically anything on Demo.
It seems like they want to focus on making the killer's base-kit good instead of giving them an add-on reliance like Wraith and Trapper have. I think that's a good idea on paper, but expensive Add-On's should still do something. Pyramid Head particularly suffers from this. A pretty large amount of his purples are garbage.
I can't say how it is with Twin's, considering I've never played them.
The twins iridescent are pretty bad.
One of them makes it so survivors are exposed for 12 seconds when they kick victor. Which is highly situational, because you'll either have charlotte across the map while you scout with victor. Or you'll be coming towards them as they kick him, which they can still avoid by looping you.
Some of their purples are okay, but the rest are pretty meh.

Do you think some hazardous environment areas would be cool like on Autohaven you could get caught in the car crusher. Or if there were pigs on Coldwind they'd bite you
I think those would mess with the gameplay loop too much.
The only other hazard type I could think of would be slowing hazards. Those at least would be more fair when it comes to matches.

But then... that add-ons is worthless, since it takes I think 3 or 3.3 seconds to pick up a Survivor, and by that time they can still pull down the pallet...
Yep, welcome to Dead By Daylight

Truely a S tier addon
I've noticed BHVR is a little skittish when it comes to purple and iridescent addons.
Especially when a lot of purple addons apply short lived debuffs that already do very little -.-

@[Deleted User] said:
They kinda have that with Crows, but you need to be so vigilant (both visually and auditorily), that it's generally overlooked.
The crows feel kind of outdated to me. Especially when you get to indoor maps, where crows don't really make much sense.
With environmental hazards it can be map dependant with stuff like what GoodboyKaru suggested. It would also give each of them more character with their individual noise hazards.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Map dependent hazards, hmm...
Macmillan: Holes in the ground you can trip into (they're obvious holes), remnants of the mining on the Estate.
Autohaven: Cars that make noise if you get too close (their alarm goes off)
Coldwind: Not sure but, I like your idea of some injured pigs.
Asylum: Not sure about this one.
Haddonfield: The houses are alarmed the first time they're entered.
Backwater Swamp: Well, there's the crow bombs so maybe that's good for it still, but there could be puddles of actual swampland that slows everyone down if they're in there.
Lery's: Computers/TVs that burst into static when you run near (walking/crouching is good).
Red Forest: Toys of the children strewn all over the map, they can squeak if you run over them.
Springwood: I've never seen NOES so I can't comment on it.
Gideon Meat Plant: Lots of Billys that cackle at you.
Yamaoka: Wind chimes (make noise if you're near) and/or leaf piles (slow you down if you run in them).
Ormond: Like the leaves on Yamaoka, but snow. Also actual footprints in the snow.
Hawkins: I honestly don't know.
Glenvale: The vultures can be more frequent and make noise if a survivor is near.
Silent Hill: I don't know because I've never played the games.
Ooo, for Lery's they could make the TV's flash doctor's face with the loud static sounds.
Ah that'd be dope as [BAD WORD]
-
@WishIcouldmain said:
Yeah that would be cool. Make the maps more lifelike
It could also open up avenues for more offerings, that could either increase or decrease the amount of noise hazards on maps.
-
If you hit a survivor Blight's fatigue is 3 seconds. If you don't it's 2.5 seconds
Meaning that pallet blocker is already halfway done if you hit a survivor with lethal rush.

They need to tweak him on console. If you play pc blight then you can turn pretty far if you flick your mouse.
But on console if a survivor steps slightly to the left then you're screwed.
An increase in turn rate would be nice as well, not huge but enough to be noticeable would be nice

@th3 said:
Make self care basekit then.
*heals across the map in a corner while you die on hook*
But seriously, self care is somewhat useless, but it would take away from the team aspect of the game if it was made basekit.
There was an explanation somewhere that perks like self care and I believe deliverance "create" a teammate to help you. Essentially destroying any pressure the killer is applying to the other survivors because you no longer need someone to help you.
If it were made basekit, then applying any pressure with low mobility killers would be an absolute nightmare. With the high mobility killers still suffering a small bit because everyone would know that people don't need to heal each other if they're injured.
Self care would still take 32 seconds, but it demolishes any injury pressure the killer can create with hardly any effort.
-
Jesus, that's actually a pretty good idea.
It would actually make that debuff something to worry about, and make the associated addons actually useful to some degree.
-
The absolutely godawful matchmaking heavily skews any data the devs get. Leading to poorly though out changes that either sledgehammer nerf a killer or bug out the game.
There are so many things to list that it deserves to be it's own post at this point.

Honestly, the best counter to Ruin+Undying is just having trash RNG like me and get your Undying cleansed first, then your Ruin afterwards and play with 2 perks for the rest of the game ★~(◠‿◕✿)
For me it either never gets cleansed, or it gets found in the first 30 seconds.
No in between.

thats called talent baby just switch the undying to the 3rd perk slot for better luck
I just pray to RNGesus for good luck
-
@ChurchofPig said:
But then what survivors do is complain about how HARD it is to find totems when 99% of the time as killer you see where your totem is and it's like "No that won't break in the first 20 seconds" in the most sarcastic voice possible. I agree that there are some really good totem spots, but they seem rare.
Part of the risk when using hex perks, I got a really dirty spot on lerys where the glow of the totem was hidden because it was facing a wall in an isolated corridor.
There's also the RNG of which hex the survivors will find first ( they always find undying first, without fail in ny matches )
-
This is a combo that can flat out be removed from a match. Doing totems ( hexes and dull ) is the easy counter.
As for your teammates, DBD is a team game for survivors. The match is dependent on you working together with them. If they don't do totems, that's on them, not the perk combo itself. If you know that Ruin/undying is a meta combo, then bring perks to counter it. Otherwise you're complaining for nothing because you refuse to adapt.
Also, calling something boring is not an excuse to nerf it. State exactly why you hate it, or don't complain at all.
-
Honestly they've attempted to fix it so much that it only shows how incapable they are at actually fixing things. MMR was supposed to solve the problem, but only made things worse by a landslide.
At this point they ought to borrow or at least look at ranking mechanics from other games before messing with matchmaking again. Otherwise the game will only be worse for it.
-
Never forgetting how much they butchered a Halloween event into being a blatant cash grab.
It was hard to even call it an event when the so called "event objective" was doing the same thing we've been doing for the past 4 years. At the very least put more effort into making the special hooks and gens look special. Slapping a pumpkin on a gen and calling it a "pustula blighted generator" doesn't take much effort. At the very least put pustula flowers on the dang thing!
Not to mention how you couldn't even earn the blighted outfits when the event first came out. The only reason they gave us the iridescent shards was because they went into damage control mode when they figured out the community was actively mad at them.
Then they never issued an apology, the only official statement we have is Mathieu saying "There should be something coming out for that".
But at the very least the graphical redesigns of maps look good. The only grip I have with them is how little foliage is in the actual ground texture.
Let's hope they put actual effort into the anniversary and Halloween event in 2021.

Ah another one of you people.
Y'all take this game too seriously to be offended by something as simple as someone pulling off a Kobe in front of you.
-
Oddly enough, new autohaven.
The look is great, but the ground textures needs more foliage. The distance fog could also be more prevelant.
It just seems very wierd being able to see the majority of the map all the time.
