  • Farming is genuinely more boring than afking. It also awards significantly less points to whomever has the shorter ques since frequently you could have knocked out multiple games in the time it takes to get hit by every ######### pallet and blinded by every ######### survivor all so they can get their bp jollies off.

If you need bp. Play killer, get bbq, and do no kill games with low level survivors. You can try to give them practice to not play like the dumbasses that plague upper mmr and everyone gets candy. Much better than 30+ minute farming matches of utter bordem.

I think this could have to do with James's story being over since at the end of the second game, depending on your option (assuming you chose for Mary not to change herself), James would kill himself so he can be with her. Meanwhile, Cheryl's story is still kind of continued in a sense. Because yes, Pyramid Head was James's personal tormenter because he is a formation of is guilt for killing Mary, just like how Maria is supposed to be another version of Mary that is also part of his guilt.

This is just my speculation, it could be like what someone else said with a map from the first game, Pyramid Head from the second, and Cheryl from the third though.

I remember back before Homecoming the theory Vatel from 3 was PH but in a different form. Since I refuse to acknowledge any game after 4 I choose to accept this is the explanation for the choice of Cheryl and Pyramid Head.

  • No, people ask this all the time but it's not real.

You only have your own experiences to judge this, so if you find in your overall limited experiences one character seems to get tunneled more you could come to that conclusion.

However if you could see all loss rates adjusted for you either playing exclusively as that character or not at all you'd likely see little change.

Ultimately you'd have likely lost those matches unless a difference of perks or camo could have saved you, Jonah isn't Taboo.

  • Usually it's because I'm practicing something or trying to fill a condition.

If I'm trying to learn nurse I'm not aiming to win or lose I'm aiming to practice blinking.

If I have to chase someone with a certain character or just chase ill get the condition and probably zone out.

Finally it can be that I just need to fill a category, like tossing bottles, and I'll just follow someone around fulfilling the goal.

If the BT survivor is taking a second hit as a protection hit, then the survivor he is taking a protection hit for to be pretty darn close.

However, if a BT survivor took a hit and ran right back to you, then it's not like he even got use out of BT, either.

That's a really strange situation and I don't see how it's beneficial to do it as a survivor.

That's my point. I'll try and explain the problem.

Survivor A is unhooked by survivor B. Survivor A now has Ds/bt. Survivor A uses this invincibility to either completely block the killer from chasing survivor B or make it take an excessive amount of time. End result is survivor B either escapes, or succeeds in wasting a great deal of the killers time. Survivor A also either gets a free escape or succeeds in wasting a great deal of the killers time.

Meanwhile, the other two survivors if even mildly competent will have been working gens. This can be devastating, and a strong strat if done well.

But being able to do this, for free, on top of having an extra perk slot or two freed up to do it with? Having every hook basically be free isn't fair. You are not supposed to just sprint burst in and unhook in killers face completely free.

The LF mask was picked by racists because of it's obvious resemblance to blackface. That's what enabled it to be used in the way it was.

So please explain to me how all of the other cosmetics - take for instance Bunny Legion - are now under threat of being removed? This is just the slipperly slope fallacy. I.e. removing the masks leads to removing more cosmetics, and then more and eventually all! It's nonsense.

Its not slippery slope when it happens frequently. The mask was just easy pickings. If their goal is to harass a streamer, then nothing has changed for them.

If you let genuine racists control what you think is right and wrong then they still control your life. They still have power over you. Look at how the pepe meme almost became a nazi thing despite the creator being firmly against it. If actual racist want something to be seen as offensive they will get you angry enough to demand it's destruction.

In short I don't need to tell you have bunny legion is offensive. You'll be explaining it to me if they ever pick it.

I know you're responding to @GoodBoyKaru in the top portion but I feel the need to reply. You're misunderstanding. People aren't offended that a POC face mask simply "exists". People are upset being it's being used as a tool by racist players to harass and bully POC content creators. Which, I'm sure you'd agree, isn't okay.

It isn't a good look to single out only one race from a PR standpoint. It's better to remove all of them rather then exclude the two masks.

As for the deli meat, apologies for misunderstanding. I don't eat meat so I wouldn't get the reference.

You know that's even worse right? If all it takes is someone deciding a cosmetic was used to harass them to result in every single cosmetic on that lineup getting turfed genuine racists could empty the online shop in a week. You can't stop bigotry by taking things away. They WANT you to take things away. It's how they WIN.

Their goal is to control you as much as possible. You're just empowering real racisim and punishing people who aren't. Genuine racists will figure something out to anger you with and get you to lash out at as many innocents as possible over it while doing nothing to them. That's what this is. No genuine racists gives a #########. They won.

If someone wants to be racist taking the mask away changes nothing for them. They can still go and do what they do. They just won't have the mask. Still doesn't mean they can't intentionally slug and bleed out a streamer they don't like, regardless of race/sex/sexuality.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2729807#Comment_2729807

Because specific exclusion of POC also looks bad from a PR standpoint outside of changing them all to accessories which would require a lot more negotiations than just "lol can we get rid of these please" this was the best case scenario.

    But that doesn't make sense.

If this is about protecting poc than why would poc get angry at their removal. It's what they want. There should be zero PR ramifications for removing the offending masks.

No one is offended by a white boy getting his face used as a mask, so there should be nothing stopping it. People are angry because a poc face mask exists. Remove it then. But it makes absolutely no sense to demand other people have something taken away.

So unless you think anyone gives a ######### if a white male feels offended I don't see where the negative pr would be coming from.

Deli style is a thickness of meat you get at delis. It's also a pretty simply joke... I don't see how you didn't get it. Deli style chicken, deli style ham, deli style Felix face. Perfect mask thickness.

That's the kind of comment that I'm happy to read.

I'm genuinely baffled and beyond disappointed that so many people are happy to tolerate hate against other human beings on this thread and are trying to compare it to things like t-bagging.

So, once again, if it's hateful to have the non white male masks just delete those?

I do not understand why all the masks have to go, just remove all the masks that aren't considered pc and add the ones that are. It's considered pc for Leatherface to run around with a deli style Felix face. So why not let us have it?

  • @Mandy said:

It's not about "whiners" it's about the fact that these were proven to be used to harass our players in a hateful manner - that's not something we're going to support and we're certainly not going to make it easier for people to do this in our game.

So real question, why not just remove the ones of non white males?

PR wise there is no such thing as being hateful towards white men so why take them all away? Hell why not make a face mask of every white male and add a special Bubba mori of slicing his face off and wearing it. I'm not joking or being sarcastic.

If it's hateful to include everyone then just don't include the people who don't want to be included. Leatherface should get more masks if they are gonna take some away. Plenty of white boys left to get a close shave and it's entirely PC.

And I'm telling you that's not what a lot of survivors are doing. You are assuming the unhooked will leave to mend. They won't with ds. They keep bodyblocking because they know you can't pick them up and either unbreakable themself up or hope to get picked up. It happens frequently now when survivors clue in I'm going after rescuer. I can't imagine it getting better if it's basekit.

But that's not bad for the Killer. It means 1 survivor is completely down and not doing gens, a 2nd survivor is in a chase and not doing gens and a 3rd survivor now how to go and revive the downed 1st surivor and isn't doing gens.

If the second survivor is still in a chase after another takes two protection hits for them I feel like you're not against very good survivors and it probably doesn't matter.

BT is too powerful as a bodyblock perk, that much is true, but DS is not. BT should generally lose collision for the duration of the endurance effect.

But even with that change, I don't think BT should ever be baseline. It's a perk that accentuates unsafe unhooks, and that shouldn't be encouraged. DS, on the other hand, should be made baseline, with the singular adjustment that it cannot fire after the fifth gen is done.

DS is also quite bad as a bodyblock perk, since you can simply down the blocker and leave them slugged, which'll end up costing the survivors more time than the killer.

Ds on its own I agree with you, it's when paired with bt it tends to become bs as it makes survivors feel safe to get downed again. If collision gets turned off it might be better but that needs to be tested.

DS is bad because it causes bad survivors to throw games because they want to "trick" you. I find it irritating as both killer and survivor. Nothing more fun than going to phase 2 on hook while the survivor you got hooked saving just teabags killer until ds deactivates. It's... frustrating.

    @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2728947#Comment_2728947

In the worst case scenario, a survivor is unsafely unhooked by another survivors, then body blocks for the unsafe-unhooker. That survivor needs to run away and mend. The killer goes after the person who did the safe unhook instead of the victim of the safe unhook (which already makes the game better for the survivor who was getting screwed).

The killer in this situation is ahead because one survivor is mending then healing, not working gens and the killer is immediately in a chase with another survivor. So 2 survivors aren't doing gens.

Now admittedly, a camper/tunneler-off-hook-till-dead would be better off, because the unsafe unhook would allow him to put the unhooked survivor right back on the hook.

In this scenario with built in DS/BT, the camper/tunneler-off-hook-till-dead is rewarded for playing more like other killers and even though he can still just flat out wait out DS and BT and still get the kill, it does allow the real victim, the survivor that was unsafely unhooked and would normally not even get to play the game, have some options, like crawling off and possibly getting healed by another survivor.

  • @Munqaxus said:

As many people that have to run DS and BT now because of how massive face-camping and camping/tunneling-off-hook has becomes, I don't know why they're not base-kit.

If you don't have them, there's a lot of killers that will make sure you don't even get a chance to play the game.

DS and BT are to easily used as bodyblock perks to get them for free. Having an unhooked survivor block two hits and know you can't touch for 60 seconds every first unhook would be miserable. Even now if survivors see I'm going for the rescuer they start trying to bodyblock without bt and ds, only loud chirping to protect them.

All it would honestly do is encourage these sloppy rescues and punish the killer for it. Especially when you get survivors who will throw the entire game to get you to set off DS because... I guess it's supposed to be funny? But I've noticed a trend in survivors who seem genuinely angry I didn't tunnel them and start desperately trying to get me to trigger it.

  • I like running Botanical knowledge, Prove thyself, iron will, resilient and bring a med kit. I play as a mix of battle medic and genjockey depending on the situation. It can make for some fun chases and saves when you get the hang of it. Sometimes I swap Resilient with self aware or urban evasion depending how I feel.

I escape as often as I don't so whatever mmr it put me in its not the worst. Can't complain about that.

Learning to circle around a killer is also pretty powerful. You can waste their time by baiting swings in front of them and even lose them with iron will+UE or SA.

It feels pretty good to spin a killer and disappear three meters away. Let's you be altruistic. Plus if you play enough you'll likely get 20-25k bp at least on average if you die, 25k-30k if you escape.

Spinning of course is hard, and can be outplayed. So practicing this can result in plenty of one hooks. Focus on bp for the first while. It helps make the repeated hanging easier when you outscore the three who escaped.

    Really? In which threads?

That wouldn't solve any of the problems with the perk. It wouldn't make a difference in gameplay balance at all. The real problem is that boons can be spammed infinitely across the entire map with no effective way to counter them or stop it from happening, and one boon allows infinite, free, fast Self-Care, which destroys entire strategies and elements of gameplay and also drastically moves the game balance in favor of survivors, and the game is objectively survivor-sided anyway at high ranks.

I don't think it should be deleted altogether, but it does need to be nerfed hard.

I usually think that this community is way too obsessed with nerfing everything and complaining about every tiny little bug in the game, and no, not every meta perk needs a nerf. I think a lot of the crying about DH is stupid. This one just turns DBD into a completely different game, though.

Killers are ragequitting, survivor queue times are going up, and camping and tunneling are the new meta. CoH is why.

Since 2-3 people are running it every goddamn game, and it's paid DLC, it's clear that BHVR is making bank off of this one, and that's probably why it hasn't been nerfed yet. But I do hope they get around to it eventually, and I hope they do it right.

It wouldn't be fast if the healing was capped. Free base level self care without the med kit buff, especially with mangled, isn't amazing.

I also don't keep a list of everytime I see people bring up these arguments. Try keeping an eye open for posts not spitting insults and X main statements.

I mean, yeah. I don't even care all that much about DH or the other boon perks, but this one needs a heavy, solid, powerful nerf ASAP.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2727207#Comment_2727207

Speak for yourself. I think most killer mains want it nerfed beyond recognition, not just a gentle little bump that's effectively cosmetic.

It should be something like one of the following:

    1. It gives you free self-heal, but it takes twice as long as Self-Care, and it doesn't stack with other healing items.
    2. It only gets one use per survivor running it. Once it's snuffed out, it's gone.
    3. The boon breaks when the killer snuffs it, and it works with Pentimento (my personal favorite).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2727204#Comment_2727204

Yes. This is the only way. Tunnel, camp, tunnel, camp.

Undying is also a great counter. Had a game today playing as Michael on Lery's where I caught the little witch trying to boon a totem multiple times and could just show up and smack her. Tunneled her to death and got a 4K because I hooked another survivor and they all threw themselves at the hook going for the save in EGC. I had NOED (my little replacement for T3 because Vanity Mirror).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2727274#Comment_2727274

Realistically, you run meta perks and Undying and tunnel and camp everyone to death the second you realize they're running CoH.

When the survivors get salty in the chat, tell them why you did it.

I've seen plenty of killer mains on the forum ask for exactly what I said. They just tend to get ignored because it's not as bombastic as demanding it be deleted.

  • Most people want the healing stacks capped and... thats pretty much it. Yes some people want CoH to be set on fire but really it just needs to not allow 4 second heals in killer tr.

  • @AngyKiller said:

As much as I think DH needs altering; you can't just slap it on a Killer and say 'This proves it's OP'. Let me show you why:

I think Balanced Landing is OP! Imagine if a Killer could drop from a hill or building and get a speed-up effect! This just shows that Balanced Landing is OP!

    Or:

I think DStrike needs changing! Imagine if, when the Killer picked a Survivor up, he could hit a skillcheck and stun the Survivor for 5 seconds! No wriggling free for 5 seconds, or they would be locked in place if flashlight/pallet saved during this timer!

Flipping a perk between Killer or Survivor does not prove anything, since they play too different.

I agree with you overall, but the second option doesn't seem to crazy and I wonder how that'd actually work. Just once per each survivor pick up being able to prevent a struggle out due to blinds or pallets. Since the killer can conceivably do multiple pick up it may honestly work as a perk. Or it may be broken as #########.

You guys should probably keep in mind that someone can still have a reason behind their subjective idea of fun. , People aren’t obligated to share those reasons, but actually sharing them is the point of op’s question anyway, so if you don’t want to share a reason, it’s better not to say anything.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2725108#Comment_2725108

This is most likely. Another possible answer is that the camper is bored with the game and/or with life, and they’re taking a nihilistic and/or spiteful approach with it.

People can also find things fun for reasons they can't explain in detail. Most people like a food because "it's tasty". Most people like a joke because "it's funny".

Plenty of people will do something because "it's fun" and ultimately that's the reason. Its fun.

Also it's a public forum and they answered the question. You not liking the answer doesn't mean they can't speak.

Holy crap. This guy gets it. Brains on the forums!

Balancing around 8-10 hooks makes more sense than 2Ks.

Additionally, maybe they should have made this game more like Friday the 13th: The Game, and had more survivors. That game has 7. Maybe DBD could have done better with 5 (improved queue times also). It might have fixed some of the camping, tunneling, and killer snowball issues. And perhaps given the killer 3rd person camera for improved vision.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2723266#Comment_2723266

I would definitely get bored playing killer if most games ended in a 3K. No tension.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2722958#Comment_2722958

I play all 3, killer, soloQ, and SWF. And while I don't have a problem with any of the difficulties, mostly, I'd be fine with them bridging the gap between soloQ and SWF and improving killer QoL and/or power to reduce the need for cheese tactics like camping.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2722943#Comment_2722943

I don't really care about escape rates tbh. I'd be fine with a game where I make it to the end, die more often, but still get my bloodpoints. I just want the playtime to be significantly higher than queue time. Maybe they should increase exit gate opening time to 30 seconds or something. Since it's the most exciting part of the game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2722148#Comment_2722148

What's atrocious about it? This is exactly how I hope all of my killer games go. It's exciting. It also means that all 5 people got to play most of the time. Instead of sitting there spectating or playing queue simulator.

I don't want to play matches where I get a 4K with 3 gens done. Very boring.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2722008#Comment_2722008

The issue with your argument is that you're comparing winning and having a good time but forgetting the most important component - participating. A killer, whether a 0K or a 4K is able to play/participate in 100% of the game. A survivor that dies, especially ones that die early, only participates maybe 25-75% of the time. And then has to play queue simulator. Paying to play a game that you're only utilizing a non-full fraction of the time is horrible game design. So, that's why it's more acceptable, albeit bad feeling, to have a 0-1K as a killer than a camp or early death as a survivor.

I would be fine with a game design change that significantly increases the chances of securing a kill at the end of the game than throughout the early-to-middle parts of the game. If as a survivor, I miss the last minute or two of the game, oh well. But I don't want to spectate for 10 minutes.

    Hierarchy:

    1) Participation

    2) Having fun

    3) Winning

No, I'm talking about the overall hypocritical nature of the herd in this game and how it stalls out any real conversation.

The game is a serious competitive game one post then a silly party game the next.

Side A winning means side B was bullied. Side A shouldn't be so sweaty.

Side B winning means side A was Bullied. Side A shouldn't be so sweaty.

Neither side can win without somehow stealing somebody's fun. It's a reoccurring theme here. The second someone playing well means someone else loses, they were being toxic/lazy/hateful/inconsiderate. The second they win and someone else loses, well git gud scrub.

    Is this sarcasm?

Because no one wants to play a game where you lose 75% of the time.

What's intresting about your reply is simply the frequency in which killer is told they shouldn't care to get even 1k and that they should just have fun. This doesnt mean you personally say it but this contradiction by the herd, not the individual, is what causes so many issues with communication.

Losing, as it is defined by the speaker, is never fun. But the listener winning, as defined by the speaker, should always be second to the speaker having a good time. Otherwise listener is selfish.

This is pretty much.... 4/5 of the arguments about this game. Ever. It can make things stressful.

No, my point was what causes the stress reaction?

And, indeed is is caused by our own expectations? And a failure to meet them.

Bordem can cause it is well.

Contrary to popular belief lots of killers love chases, just intresting ones. When you get survivors who just shift w to pallet and sit still because you can't m1 them at range it gets extremely boring.

When all a survivor wants to do is run from pallet to pallet so they can sit still and hope you eat it you switch targets.

When you get four survivors all with second chance perks to make these stand still or circle a pallet forever into circle pallet forever x4 x4 it's just frustrating and boring.

Uhhu... Yeah it happens some ttvs can be quite toxic, but please keep in mind thats not all of us.

Its well known its not all streamers. I love watching Ruby Weapon play survivor. The problem is whenever ttv is in the name the odds of a crappy showboating game is naturally higher than someone not advertising their channel. Not to mention fan rage potential.

  • Camping and tunneling are essentially the salty survivors version of swf and High mmr that you see killers complaining about.

Are there swfs that clearly just wanna make sure you have a bad time? Can Mmr be stupid? Absolutely. Is it as common as people say? Absolutely not.

Same with camping and tunneling. Plenty of killers camp because they genuinely believe they saw a survivor or saw indicators showing a survivor is close. Doesn't mean there are but the killer didn't know that.

Tunneling is worse and can frequently be due to bad luck or bad plays. If people don't want to be tunneled, run. Choose a point in the distance and run till you get there. Actively trying to impede killer directly off hook just says they are good to go and have no right to complain about tunneling. Getting unhooked doesn't mean you get 60 seconds to save everyone, heal everyone, blind the killer should they leave the basement, and maybe bang out the last of a gen.

Yet this is what I find survivors start thinking when they notice I prioritize the rescuer. They don't take it as "Hey I know I got a chance to flee after I'm unhooked I should use it!" They seem to see it as some kind of entitlement. It's the only reason I can figure out. Otherwise I feel like they wouldn't get so mad when it backfires and they get knocked out rapidly 2 minutes later.

So, just be a good little victim and accept what is done to you?

Considering most people who will slug everyone and wait out the timer do not care about any punishment this means the only chance of punishment will be towards innocent people and will only be to make you feel better over something unintentional. Punishments to serve your ego don't work, they tend to backfire.

This has been said by multiple people in this thread but is the point that is ignored the hardest it seems. All any punishment will do is make it easier for jerk survivors to mess with killer players. That's all.

  • None.

You'd only end up hurting killers not trying to irritate you. If someone is doing it to be a jerk they don't care about bp.

So really the thing this would do is help jerk survivors to come up with builds to literally take away bp from a killer.

Face camping is not playing the game. You can literally go afk and make a snack while face camping. The person on the hook isn't playing the game either. They likely had more interaction in the pregame lobby.

I'd rather have a fun game with 0k than play a game where I 4k but barely interacted with anyone else. At that stage i might as well play solitare or minesweeper.

Face camping is quite a bit different from regular camping.

Camping is usually done when the killer has good reason to know someone is coming, usually they see or hear someone and instead of wandering off pretending to be deaf and blind they stick around. Same with how frequently tunneling is less refusing to play and more refusing to ignore bad or selfish or greedy plays from survivors.

Its like how plenty of killers always insist they lost because of unfair mmr and unfair swf when they really just got outplayed. Survivors aren't any different, just more numerous and so it's easier to create truth via consensus.

Are there examples of people acting in the way genuinely being complained about? Absolutely. Is it anywhere near as common as the forums want you to think? Absolutely not. It's usually just an excuse for bad plays. Regardless of which side making it

Considering you're afking in a match, and thus screwing over your team repeatedly; I sure as hell hope you can, and do, get banned.

If they are doing it to grind you usually do it as killer so survivors can essentially give you points through hits and starting chases.

It also pretty much garuntees you will never get reported for it.

What about the anti camping perks then?

You also think "genrushing" is intended right?

I think one of the mods posted a recent video about them doing something about facecamping, so I guess it is not "intended" anymore.

Face camping is different from camping.

In fact devs wanting to preserve camping is why the anti face camping mechanics got tossed. Camping, as in being able to be near the hook, has always been intended. Face ######### the survivor while slapping them wasn't and changes have been made.

Saying ds and bt exist means camping = bad is like saying ruin only exists because of the equally laughable gen rushing. It's a perk to help you when a situation occurs. If the devs didn't want camping they'd change or remove the hook mechanics.

I mean does a sniper in an fps mean shotguns aren't intended? Properly used snipers can stop close ranged players before they can try, doesn't mean a shotgun is unintended. Bt and ds can shut down a tunnel or waste a killers time camping. Doesn't mean it's not intended, just a way to fight back.

pretty sure they were pointing to my friend when him and the other suvivor were the last ones and when my friend came over thinking the killer started to be friendly he got immediately downed and hooked lol. i mean im still kind of new to this game so i dont know what happens a lot or what doesnt but like i said even though some killers let me go or helped me it never happened while there were still others around. but yeah i guess they couldve just liked them so they let them be and killed the rest its just weird that they were hooked twice and when it was only three of us they decided to be friendly with one.

I've had that happen because the survivors felt the other was immersed walking. Essentially doing nothing but hope the other survivor is killed so he can get hatch.

Depending on what I've see I might kill the accused, accuser, or both.

Whether your friend actually did that, and whether it would have mattered, is a shot in the dark.

When I spare survivors it's rarely because of any specific thing. Just if I see something particularly intresting or neat.

I spared one Claudette today because after downing her she seemed to want a chest. I let her wiggle out, she opened the chest and let me hook her. I slugged her rest of match. She was honest and it was funny. I'm sure the other survivor could have easily seen it as collusion since it also resulted in her getting one hooked.

According to a recent devstream: Yes. They are still looking for a solution. As the lead designer said: Camping is a thorn in our side.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2717505#Comment_2717505

Do you think no one can read your passive aggressive "You only want this so you can exploit it"?

Passive aggressive implies I'm trying to hide my intent.

I am not hiding my intent. Most arguments are clear attempts to make it easy to safe unhook while punishing the killer for defending an objective. An intended objective. Nothing passive about that statement.

Now you've ignored my point twice to focus on trivial crap. This tells me, and I tell you in no passive or aggressive way, you have nothing relevant to say in response.

I genuinely hope you have a good day, but I'm not wasting anymore time on you.

The reason I don't want the hook system removed is because I actually enjoy sneaking my way around the killer and going for a safe unhook. I like that dynamic, I like having to figure out when it's safe to unhook and going for it. I -enjoy- that part of gameplay.

But you decided to immediately jump on the 'survivors bad' bandwagon, didn't you?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2717203#Comment_2717203

Camping is way more effective, even against solid survivors, than the forums will dare to admit. Read @Munqaxus ' post, for example.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2717286#Comment_2717286

Moving the goalpost, buddy. That PTB shows that the devs intended for camping to be removed, they just don't know how to do it yet. And they recently stated that they're making another attempt to get rid of it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2717331#Comment_2717331

It's only a free perk slot if you consider BT a mandatory pick, which in and of itself just lends credence to the idea that camping needs to be addressed. And unsafe hooks would still be extremely unsafe.

Yes, a killer could still keep an eye on the hook, but if you can force the killer to keep distance to the hook if there's no reason for them to be near it, you can get a slightly unsafe unhook, but there'd still be a possibility for accomplishing -something-. As opposed to the current state, where a killer just stands on the hook and the best you can do is a trade, with a very high chance of a free extra kill.

But I appreciate that you're considering the scenario and looking at it in earnest, because the majority of forumgoers will simply say 'Something was tried once, five flipping years ago, so that means that it's impossible to fix', and refuse to consider -anything-.

I like how you're only argument is to ignore my entire point then insult me.

You cannot punish camping. Camping is intended. Face camping is not. You either have to lobby for the hooks removal or learn to play better at the game as is.

All punishing killer does is encourage survivors to blow gens and fast vault at the hook because the killer will get a smack if they try to defend. A fact most people are plenty aware of yet suspiciously forget when these threads go up.

But no, reduce what I said to "survivor bad." That works to.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2716956#Comment_2716956

Camping isn't the 'intended gameplay'. The devs themselves have stated this, but they just haven't found an anti-camping solution yet. You can keep giving ideas on rewarding killers for -not camping-, but that's not going to change things if camping can easily net you a no effort 2K against most survivor teams you'll face.

Camping needs to not be remotely viable before it can really start to die out.

Face camping isn't an intended play, and is what the devs are talking about. Regular camping is intended.

Regular camping cannot be "punished out of the game." The entire hook system has to be changed. Ground up. If you actually thought camping was bad this would be your argument. However that kinda change would result in you being punished for playing poorly. So you'd rather they just change it to make it zero effort easy for you, and punishing for killer.

Either ask for the entire hook system to get removed or get better at the game as is. Demanding punishment for an intended mechanic doesn't work. It just makes it easier for you to exploit.

  • No because camping is an intended play not an exploit.

If behaviour didn't want camping hooked survivors would be removed from map or unhooking a survivor would teleport them away. The emblem penalty is for hard face camping. As in standing perfectly still exchanging eye mucus when no survivors are around.

You can't punish people for an intended play as any punishment is easily exploitable. The core mechanics would have to be changed.
