I wouldn't say a lot? Sure it can trigger occasionally to see the aura, but there are far better information perks out there and far better hex perks I really think your overreacting about the aura effect.
Sure it might be too much if it was a non hex perk but hex perks are supposed to be really good. The trade off for a really powerful effect is that you can (and most likely will) lose it sometime in the match.
You know an area a survivor is in, if they're walking/running/crouching, the direction they are going, what floor they're on if it's more than one, if they happen to be healing/working on gen near one.
One of the reasons the devs changed Ruin was because it was a perk that didn't require the killer to do anything, survivors would leave gens on their own to find the totem and run into the killer. New ruin requires killers to pressure gens for it to do anything. One of the reasons the devs changed the doctors electric field to a blast was it gave the doctor information without the doctor having to do anything and would increase survivors madness without having to be shocked. This perk is one that gives the killer information without either the killer or the survivor doing any kind of interaction to cause it which seems to go against changes they've made.

You can always cleanse the totems. Cleaning a dull totem removes the detection from the area around the totem, and if Undying is cleansed the detection is gone completely.
As I said before, you need to know the totem is there. As a survivor you aren't alerted that the killer is seeing your aura because you passed over a totem that's on a floor below you. Cleansing should be done, but I think the aura reading should be if you touch the totem not just go near a totem.

Am I the only one who likes that aspect? I'd love to run Undying with Thrill just so I can use the totems to spy on survivors, although I doubt that'd be very practical.
For a killer it's extremely appealing because you are getting information without you or the survivor doing anything aside from moving around the map. For a solo survivor it's just another thing to make solo q worse.

Guess they should cleanse the totem if they think it's a problem. There are far more powerful hex effects than the occasional aura, to say this hex is the one that needs a nerf is kinda weird.
Survivors should cleanse totems but that doesn't change the killer is getting alot of information without having to do anything and without the survivor doing any sort of interaction.

There are only 5 totems and the aura radius is really small, this is my opinion so I can be wrong but I don't think accidentally triggering the aura while running around will be a problem.
I was watching a stream where the killer saw a survivor's aura when they were on a different floor in a house from a totem. They were running above it through the house just on their way to a different spot on the map. It's really not that small of a radius. If you're on a map like the Game you'll be able to tell where a survivor is even if the totem they run near isn't on the same floor as them. 5 totems are also spread out around the map giving you more of a chance of seeing survivors auras as they pass by.
-
@Quol said:
I don't think the aura reading is that big a deal, there is no audio notification and it only takes 12 sec to cleanse a totem. Taking into account the time it takes to run to the totem you would need to look at the totem(s) every 3-5 sec to protect them.
Sure you can pair it with thrill for best totem defense but if your using half your perks only for totem defense your already giving up a lot.
It's not the seeing aura when cleansing a totem that's a problem. It's being able to see a survivor's aura when they are just near the totem, like on floor above a totem working on a gen, healing someone, or just walking by and seeing the direction they are heading. There's 0 interaction needed for the killer to get that information.

Do we know what happens with Haunted Grounds + Undying yet?
As long as there's dull totems on the map you can keep activating it from cleansing. If you cleanse a Haunted Ground while a Haunted Ground is active it resets the time.

I think it's a good thing, a perfect way to counter a SWF team with comms I would say. The killer do not have the same information they do so they'd be able to keep tabs on their opponents.
Too bad it just hurts solo q even more and they make up half the player base.

Some people also think they can only grab teachables from the shrine not from leveling up their character.

Yes I do thanks, and I’m going thorough them slowly. But there are only so many hours I can play a week.
OK, just wanted to make sure. Some people think you have to use the shrine not that it just allows you to grab teachables earlier.

This is the answer I was looking for thanks. I’ve only been playing 6 months and really look forward to new perks I can get through the Shrine. Seemed weird to me.
You know you can unlock the teachable perks by leveling up your characters right? Then you can save your shards for perks from dlc characters you don't have instead of characters from the base game.
-
Because Meg is in the current tome and there is a challenge requiring Sprint Burst. People may not have grabbed it last time it was on the shrine but want to now for the challenge.
-
You have to disable from main menu screen.
-
You get alot of information from undying. I was watching streams and the killer was able to see the aura of survivors walking around when totem was on floor below them. I don't care about having to cleanse ruin twice, I care that the killer can know survivor locations without the survivor doing anything but walking near a totem.

Found another.

Found some more

I love struggling on a hook and a gen goes off or doctor does a blast or exposed status is activated causing the game to stutter and I die. Optimizing console would be nice.

I play myself killer in ps4 and my fps are fine ¿?
I guess you're in the minority? I'm on ps4 and notice the frame drops during different times like when going into bloodlust. There's a 13 page post on this forum from console players (including ps4 players) about the FPS issues, especially as killer.
-
I saw some people start referring to the new killer as a demolegion. 😂
The graphic updates are nice but I'd rather they focus on bug fixes and optimizing console than making old maps look prettier. I usually don't spend time walking around a map looking at pictures on a wall unless I'm farming... Or there's a bug that's made me stuck in one spot... 🤷♀️
-
@Angelicus23 said:
excuse me what? is the console people the ones who want PC appart from crossplay for no reason after a few nurse games
Console wanted console only crossplay since before the devs pushed out crossplay because the devs have not optimized console after saying the would a year and a half ago. Console killer mains have been pretty vocal about it due to the frame drops when playing killer.

I'm on PS4 - had a few lag issues but no more than before cross play. I have however seen (and unfortuntely been caught in it) a bug whereby running alongside the backs of hills can get you stuck there. Even getting hit didn't push me off it - killer had to lift me up for me to be free of the glitch. Once unhooked, I could carry on as normal.
There was something else today - don't know if it was a glitch or the killer was running a hack but when my brother was hooked and in struggle, the doc blasted everyone around him and as the 2 nearby survivors screamed, my brother died on the hook - he swears he was mashing X.
Hill glitch has been happening to everyone since before crossplay.
The randomly stopping struggle is another since before crossplay, it's a reason players have given for wanting the button mash for struggle to be removed/changed.

1. Does it work at all?
2. How it works with 4 hex perks build?
3. How it works when there is 1 dull totem?
Paulie Esther stream they tested it, Haunted Grounds was only other hex perk, it was able to be activated 3 times. If you cleanse a Haunted Grounds while one is still active it resets the timer.
They also tried it with NOED active, each time NOED was cleansed it would remove the hex/exposed from survivor hud until next survivor was hit. So it will make you think you cleansed a hex until you do something to activate the hex again.
-
It'd be nice if they'd fix this.
-
Paulie Esther stream they managed to do a heal on someone in 2.5 seconds. 😂
-
I'm on ps4. When I had crossplay on the game felt way more glitchy/laggy, turned it off and it went back to normal.

There were rumors that this chapter was supposed to be licensed, then it changed to original after Candyman movie was pushed back. If there is a Candyman chapter planned it probably has to come out after the movie is released because spoilers.

From how its worded I dont think a generator needs to be completed to see the auras, it just turns off for a time when a gen is done.
That actually sounds worse. So when a gen finishes, the time you would need it to find the next gen, it's on a cool down? 😂

So Visionary just Deja Vu with a cool down? Why use Visionary when Detectives Hunch is in the game showing you way more and with no cool down?

Undying seems like better Thrill of the Hunt.

The offerings basement/hatch offerings are great for killers but seem pretty useless for survivors. Hatch I can only see being useful for survivors with a key.

As long as you keep playing period my friend :D
This is probably the nicest comment I've seen when it comes to crossplay opting in/out.
-
As ps4 player if I didn't have another ps4 player in my lobby I was getting left on the hook if I was caught, and it wasn't because my team was busting through gens. The only escapes were when my teammates were mostly ps4 players because we'd work as a team with saves and getting gens done. Not sure why platforms outside ps4 were against helping teammates and completing gens, seemed more like they just wanted to wait out the team so they could get the hatch. Was bad experience playing solo. Happy I turned crossplay off, queues shorter than with it on and my teams actually work together.

Lol! I literally just read your comment in another post where you complained about having to crossplay with PC and that turning it off will make queue times longer. Now you’re saying this. We’ve been telling you guys, there’s an option to disable it but instead of doing that first you decided to come on the forums and cry about something that has been completely optional from the start. Anyway, hope you’re happy now and you will no longer complain about this anymore.
I've been saying they have a message to discourage people from turning off crossplay by saying they will have longer queues but for me, since I'm on ps4, my waits have only been 1-2 minutes since turning it off. I also said my waits were longer when I had crossplay on. I said making a console only crossplay would make pc queues longer which is why pc players are against it. I'm guessing you must of confused those comments to think I contradicted myself.

@Buttercake said:
Why can't console players have the option to just play with console players. Why is this a problem?
They should've done crossplay between consoles only until they finally fixed optimization to be balanced between pc and consoles. They won't add a console only option because more would opt out of playing with pc.
-

Not possible. Even if they removed the Leave Match button, people could still close the game with Task Manager or turn their console off.
Or just disconnect the internet.

Those saying "hackers are not common, I've never seen a hacker" - DC penalties were turned off twice in a short period of time and are still off due to hackers. They are an issue.

I cant believe how awful the games were. Console players have no reason to stay in crossplay. We have the player base to just opt out and have better games for it.
The games have been so much better since I turned it off. It made me feel better about the decision too because so many have it off on ps4. I'm lower rank as killer since I don't take it seriously and mess around more than anything, had couple random rank 20 with one perk in my lobbies so even new players are opting out.
-
That's how I felt after the first day of crossplay. Left on hook to die or struggle, usually die, unless I had another ps4 player in my lobby. Gens not getting done. Teammates from other platforms seemed to work more against eachother than with. Only escapes were when my lobby was mostly ps4 players. Also mostly got rainbow rank lobbies after waiting around 10 minutes for a match. Just overall terrible experience as solo.
Turned it off and wait times either side are only a minute or two, my teammates actually work together, escape/die are about 50/50. I'm happy it seems like alot of ps4 players feel the same since the waits aren't long, I'm playing with/against different players each match and the ranks are close to mine.
-
If you're killer and you let them live it's a thank you. Atleast, that's why I do it.
-
DC penalties were turned off twice due to hackers so obviously hackers in this game are a problem.

They really do need a console-only crossplay option for console players, but it'll probably never happen.
One of the things that really irks me about this, is I have come on this forum before talking about issues on console and some PC players have told me that basically problems on console don't matter, there aren't enough console players for our problems to matter, DbD is meant for PC, etc. etc. (Nurse is more difficult on console? Suck it up, she still needs a nerf. Scratchmarks don't appear properly? I don't believe you. Optimization should be prioritized? Your hardware can't handle it, just deal.) Basically, discriminating against console players. Now that console players are being used to try to improve PC queue times, I've seen in other threads PC players saying they shouldn't be discriminated against, it wouldn't be fair to have a console-only option.
Maybe if console players weren't treated like they don't matter so often they wouldn't be quite so annoyed by the state of things right now. Instead, it feels like, as always, PC gets priority.
Console players were already unhappy about the lack of optimization. It should've come before crossplay. It didn't. Instead, crossplay is adding fuel to the fire that is console players' annoyance at feeling shafted.
It definitely feels like they don't care about the console player base. After I finish this rift I'm not buying the next one. Also not going to continue buying DLC/cosmetics because it doesn't feel like my money is going towards improving console, feels like it's going towards making a better experience for pc only.
-
Happens couple times a month to me on ps4. I made a bug report about it back in May during one of the times. Still haven't fixed it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/152383/ps4-no-hud-while-playing-as-survivor#latest
-
If they didn't optimize to balance console with pc before activating crossplay I don't have much hope that they'll do it before the graphics update. 😂
-
Frames definitely felt worse when I had crossplay on. Also felt super laggy. Noticed the ping bar was red when I had crossplay on. Turned it off, ping bar was green and frames went back to the normal console issues.
I said it on other posts, overall didn't have fun playing with crossplay on. Felt like teammates from other platforms were working more against eachother rather than with eachother. Unless I had another ps4 player on my team I was being left on first hook until I died or struggled, usually until I died. I was bumped to purple from rank reset, first couple matches my teammates were purple/red but rest of time it was rainbow ranks. My wait times increased with crossplay on, turned it off and they are only a minute or two despite the warning they give to discourage turning off crossplay. I'm happy that there's plenty of other ps4 players that felt the same and also turned off crossplay.
I think they should've waited until they optimized console before having crossplay with pc. Pushing ahead and responding with "just turn off crossplay", or vague "we're looking at it" on console optimization posts, makes me think they aren't going to optimize console to be balanced with pc.
-
@CrowFoxy said:
People who turned crossplay off, can still be matched with other players on their platform who have it ON I believe. It just won't place you with any other players who are not on your platform?
You only get matched with others that have it turned off. It's how they discourage you from turning off crossplay, you have to hope there's enough players from your platform with it turned off also so the wait times aren't bad.
-
They should do this, especially with how unbalanced console is to pc when it comes to optimization. Until they do more than "look into" optimization console should have option to play with only other consoles. Pc only want console so their queues are shorter and they can take advantage of consoles lack of optimization.
-
@Peanits said:
The hill bug is known and will be fixed in the next update.
As far as crossplay goes, you are free to disable it if you choose. We are not trying to force crossplay on you; there's an option in the settings to opt-out.
What about fixing the difference in optimization between console and pc? While there is the ability to opt out if you go to turn it off it has the message that trues to discourage you by saying you may have longer queue times. So while there is the option to opt out at the same time it feels like a "suck it up and play at disadvantage to pc or don't play at all" to console people when the constant response is "just opt out." Maybe instead of telling console to opt out DBD devs can make us not feel like we're being ignored and give us more than "we're looking into it" for optimization so console and pc are balanced playing with eachother. Or turn off crossplay as a whole until DBD devs are able to balance optimization issues instead of the "suck it up or opt out" response that keeps being used.
