  • Agreed it's way too bright. If they could tone it down a bit, maybe make it closer to Dead Dawg?

They should do beach map with purple lighting.

More talking about repeated hits. I wasn't toxic so I don't see a reason for them to be toxic back to me and "teabag" me. It seems childish. I understand if they do that to a survivor who was toxic the whole match but not to ones who weren't.

Like I said, it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with you being toxic, they're just doing it because they can. There was a dev that in a stream said he liked standing there swatting at survivors while they were on the hook, he just found it fun.

  • Are you talking about when they hook you and do a single hit as soon as their hook animation finishes before walking away or when they just stand there hitting you?

If it's hitting right after they hook you it's to stop the scream.

If it's just standing there hitting you it isn't necessarily because you were toxic. It's their version of teabag. Like how a survivor will teabag at killer for no other reason besides they can, a killer will hit you on hook because they can.

The only serious trigger I recall no longer being an issue was when chests were updated, so simply searching one would likely kill someone struggling on hook. Moot now with the change to the struggle mechanic.

The long long list of triggers largly remains, and every patch seems to spawn a few more. The very nice looking fire barrel update was one i noticed immediately, dropping frames to below Blight's old bellybutton.

Chests fixed except on Cronus Prenn since it's rework. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Each update I dread seeing what new trigger will be added to the game. ๐Ÿ˜”

Well, quite honestly, "we are looking into it" and "it's been passed on" isn't good enough anymore.

The state of the game is pretty unacceptable and it's been over two years since they promised Optimization and 60 FPS. It's been radio silence for years now.

Oh, I didn't mean that response would be OK, just that is what I predict it will be if we start tagging them. I totally agree those responses are not OK. At this point they're completely brush off meaningless responses. They need to either say "Nope, not going to happen" or actually start pushing out optimization patches because it's not like we haven't listed exact triggers for them to work on.

If they were gonna comment, I feel like they would have already.

But maybe I'm just cynical and they've missed it.

I agree. I'm sure they are keeping an eye on this post too. I feel like the 30 page post last year got shut down pretty quick when people started tagging mods/devs for answer more than "passed on to the team." Feel like if we tag it'll be closed with note of "Passed on to team. We will now close post since they are looking into it."

Yes. Bug made game really hard for new players. I deranked from 3 to 9 ( i dont know how ) but i am 5 again today. And most of my matches were against new killers.

I dropped from 4 to 15. I've given so many of the low rank killers free kills at the end because I feel so bad. I'm at 11 so far working my way back up, if it wasn't for pip bug I kept experiencing on first day playing (bunch of -1 pip or 0 pip when I should've +1 or +2 pip) I'd be closer to higher ranks. I only care about being higher rank so I'm not matched often with killers I feel like I'm bullying because they're so inexperienced.

  • Poor optimization is unfortunately a thing that's been around for some time on console. We have a post now that Pulsar shared already and we've had posts in the past about it that were closed like this one

Edit: Since threads have been merged here is the original comment from a merged thread so you can freely comment on it too

Console players have been justifiably demanding decent frames for years and nothing has been done. We were promised an optimization two years ago. What came of that? Why is this not a priority? Why are we treated so coldly when we rightfully demand updates on what we were promised a long time ago?ย

Most importantly, why should we believe we'll be listened to now? Because someone said that the devs were looking into it? Or that we've been heard? I'm sorry, but those vague answers aren't enough. We need real updates and clear communication.

This post isn't even just about console optimization or the devs not keeping their word. I would like to know why we should believe we've been heard when we've been brushed off for so long.

  • I've had so many killers like that since rank reset, I feel so bad for them. Have had quite a few that were definitely red rank before and are working their way back up, I feel bad for the new survivors that face them. It has to be an absolute miserable time for new players right now.

The last three Killers have also been extremely hindered on release for Consoles.

Blight just got fixed after 6+ months. Twins are still laggy and Trickster's recoil can't be properly controlled.

It really feels like they design Killers without considering us.

Blight and Trickster (can't remember if Twins did as well) had PC players during the PTB on the first day saying that those killers would not be good for people that use a controller. I have a hard time believing they were tested at all with a controller and basic issues like Tricksters recoil weren't noticed when players using controllers on PTB immediately recognized that as an issue. Not only is it not taking console into consideration but this is also an accessibility issue for those on PC that use controller instead of m&k.

  • Hopefully the devs see this and do something to help those with epilepsy.

Apparently, most people think I'm uber toxic.

Just because I go hard for the 4K or 4E doesn't mean I'm toxic :/

I send gg's after every single match too

You're rank 1 both sides right? You're not just playing against the other players, gotta battle fps drops on top of that to keep your rank. Gotta go hard when lack of optimization is adding extra challenge. ๐Ÿ˜‚

They're definitely abnormal for me, or at least were before I was suddenly being offered them a couple of times per character. How often would they used to appear for you when you did get them?

I've only had them in my bloodwebs during events, never outside events. My first event with them was winter event where I got 140 on one survivor I was using for that event. Next was lunar new year where I still got a decent amount, probably 2-3 per bloodweb and had spread it out over several survivors. Since then though event items seem to have much lower spawn rate on the bloodwebs so usually one 1 event item/offering per bloodweb which is such a bummer.

  • Kate/Zarina - killers tend to not tunnel them, their screams/cries don't bug me, they have cosmetics I like.

Trapper - catching survivors in traps is very satisfying.

Ghostface - he's fine to mess around with survivors.

I've gotten probably five fireworks in just the last couple of days. Never even saw them before.

As for perks I seem to always get the same ones (Empathy, Adrenaline, Premonition, the one that reveals chests, etc.) and no more than 2 at a time (for the most part, can't recall how many I was offered before my last two prestiges).

My bloodwebs have been normal. I'm so bummed I'm not getting fireworks on my bloodwebs, those are my favorite item in the game.

It's more likely to be a latency thing tbh.

Apparently, I have quite a reputation on Xbox, so that's fun.

Yikes. I'm too mediocre to have a reputation. Or atleast I don't think I have one, I have my ps profile locked down because I don't feel like getting messages from butthurt players. I get enough distractions from my FPS drops during a match, don't need message pop ups from players angry from previous match or that died in current match. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe less glitch and more hack then.

  • While EGC being time limited to getting the gnome is rough I do think it's good that players aren't spending the match looking for a gnome instead of playing normal.

I like that you only need to find it once to unlock on everyone. The worst part about the crowns was that there were killers tunneling people out that found a crown. I was facecamped multiple matches by glowing killers that saw I was glowing and wanted to prevent atleast one survivor from getting a crown. I don't like either side being able to prevent the other from completing events.

Only needing to find it once, and at end game, stops the issue of survivors completing event item mid match then quitting to move on to next to get it for next survivor.

I do think the gnome needs to emit a sound as you get closer just like the crowns or glyphs do. Start hearing it laughing as you get closer would be great. I think if there was audio queue to help with locating the gnomes looking for them during EGC wouldn't be so bad.

  • It's the rank reset bug. I was a rank 4 survivor but was bumped to rank 15. There's a bunch of survivors and killers that were red rank bumped back into low ranks. It's rough for the legit low rank players having to go against what should be high rank players.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I don't get why they haven't said anything about it

I'd have had no idea about it had I not been here. I kept hearing weird chimes at EGC and I had zero idea what the hell was going on. I've yet to see the little bugger (though I only played one game yesterday and a handful of games the day before and it sounds like it started Wed?).

I'm more wondering how long this event is going to be. Is this something I need to dedicate a game or two to make sure I get or is this event a week or so and I can just wait until I organically stumble into it myself?

This is the only acknowledgment I've seen from them. Almost makes me think it's not limited but more like the Silent Hill charm, just instead of code you find it during EGC. Would hope if it was limited they'd say something just because it would suck if people missed out if it was only a week due to not knowing it existed.

Play as killer, open door yourself to start egc, look for gnome while survivors teabag in the exit. I've seen gnome mostly by trees, boxes, rocks, or the smaller stuff to loop around in the open. I personally haven't seen it in buildings or jungle gyms.

  • I feel so bad for the actual low rank killers I've been facing. Can definitely tell what would normally be a low rank killer v one that got the reset bug and should be high rank. I feel like such a bully with the ones that are committing to chases they shouldn't or can't even hook a person all match. I keep giving them kill at end because I can't imagine these matches are feeling nice to them.

  • I love that it goes off no matter what now, it's helped a ton against the killers that could have no terror radius or ones that could return to hook quickly from a distance like Hag or Spirit. Seeing endurance pop up with old BT wasn't needed to tell me the killer was close, I could hear the heart beat and in many cases see them to know they were close if it was a situation where BT would activate.

The player unhooking should be going for a safe unhook by trying to distract killer if they're nearby/returning instead of relying on BT to save you. If killer is after you instead of the unhooked you could also bait out a hit before BT runs out to give you the speed boost you need to get to a window/pallet.

  • I don't think it's over, I just had a match where I kicked a gnome.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

I'd say look for a gen, but actively look for totems on your way and make them your primary focus over generators, especially that often (although not always) when you see corrupt in play it's a Trapper who wont be focusing on the gens/totems that much at first.

Dont however spend 120 seconds doing nothing. The killer couldve set up for free in those 120 seconds, or possibly started a chase or two, maybe a hook or two during that time. Doing nothing is allowing the killer to do all this for free with no risks what so ever.

    This.

  • Yes, 3 tiers is unnecessary especially since you can't choose which tier you want to use.

  • Found it my first try as killer. I let survivors do the gens, opened the gate myself when they finished last gen, went and found the gnome while survivors wasted time teabagging in the exit. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I hate missing skillchecks. Overcharge and Oppression are two of my most hated perks for very different reasons to why most dislike them.

I've had the game freeze when I'm on a gen and the killer kicks another gen using oppression so I end up missing the skill check that pops up. It's so frustrating. If I miss a skill check because I didn't time it right that's fine, but missing because the game has a trigger caused an fps drop is annoying.

  • I was a rank 4 survivor, I'm now rank 15.

Killer I didn't pay attention because I don't play it often and just didn't care if I pipped, just know it was low. Now rank 20 so probably legit reset there. ๐Ÿ˜‚

When it showed my reset it said I was rank 1 in both before resetting me to 15/20 ๐Ÿ˜‚

Edit to add my swf teammate didn't change rank at all. He was an 8 as survivor yesterday and still an 8 today when he logged in. No idea for killer, he wasn't paying attention to what the rank reset said when he logged in.

  • Survivor it said I was rank 1 but I wasn't rank 1, I was rank 4 when I signed off last night. Now I'm rank 15.

Killer said I was rank 1 when I wasn't, I was low rank from not playing killer much and not taking it serious enough to pip (I mostly mess around as killer and playing with their powers to understand it better as survivor, I don't care if I get kills/hooks unless I'm doing a challenge). Now I'm rank 20 which was probably more realistic rank reset for what my actual rank was but still funny to see it go from 1 to 20.

With everyone's ranks messed up now would be a good time to test mmr. Players will definitely have to rely on how match feels over what ranks they see since they won't know if the other yellow ranks are yellow that didn't move at reset or red ranks that didn't play well that should've be yellow all along. ๐Ÿ˜‚

in Rank Reset Comment by bm33
  • I'd love to see them separate it into 2 separate perks and see which one is used more, BP or information.

  • I played as killer, waited for survivors to finish gens, opened the door myself and went looking for the gnome. If you don't care about pips this way is super easy because survivors will spend time hanging out in exit teabagging instead of looking for the gnome. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • @cowens55554 said:

Had the exact same thing happen to me literally hook bombed two survivors in front of the killer going down for both in the process and the challenge didnt give it to me. Im on ps4 as well. So is the solution to switch challenges and then try it again? Your wording was a lil confusing sorry

I changed both the challenge and character before trying again. I saw some say changing character was all they needed for BT challenge to finally go through, saw others say they changed the challenge then went back to the BT challenge and it finally worked - just to be safe I did both, changed character and challenge. I guess other challenges have same bug - won't go through until you change the challenge then go back or change the character you're using.

  • @Mister_xD said:

BT itself is just unhealthy for the game imo.

its because of exactly that mindset it creates where people feel entitled to get free unhooks with no penalty whatsoever every time they try.

i think the "unsafe hook rescue" penalty needs to be applied whenever the unhooked survivor gets hit right after being unhooked instead of only being applied when said survivor gets downed.

They should make unhooks reward few blood points while actual safe unhooks reward a large amount of blood points. Right now players don't care for safe unhook unless it's a challenge because they get way more BP just unhooking someone even if they are immediately downed.

Also make multiple unsafe unhooks guarantee a bronze emblem in altruism. Be like how you can't get iridescent in survival if you were hooked once even if you escaped. If you're making multiple unsafe unhooks you shouldn't be able to make up for it with some heals.

  • I'd love to see DBD streamers borrow a friend's ps4/Xbox 1 for a week of streams.

  • It's the challenge to save using BT in the killer's terror radius. It's also bugged so it won't go through sometimes unless you change out the challenge/survivor so some survivors will do worse plays trying to have the challenge go through.

I really wish they'd stop putting in these challenges that encourage bad game play.

  • Since the All Kill chapter and more so after this last mid-chapter patch I've noticed it feels sluggish when running around. I get those run for a few seconds, slow down randomly, then go back to running. It sucks in a chase.

    It does indeed.

It's not the connections. Please, borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and start DBD. Embrace the frame freezes during the first menu screen. Bask in the drops should you complete a lvl50 bloodweb and start another. Enjoy another drop when you back out of that.

Now my friend, now you are ready to play console killer.

How about Doc? Head on into Lery's, and move to the center room. Static Blast please, and spin to find those filthy dirty survivors. What? Can barely turn the camera? How odd. Must be those dang new fangled internets again.

Somehow you find a surv and shock away at em, getting that madness up. Now you're close enough to lunge for a hit.... but just then Bloodlust 1 triggers and you only take a little bit of paint off the wall...

That's just Doctor. Demo's shred attack freezes the game; gen pops near you, frame drops occur; you apply Sloppy, more drops; surv Sprint Bursts away, drops; Freddy pretty much anything, drops; Myers tiers up, drops; Exposed is triggered, drops; Exhausion, drops; and so many more.

Other larger & far more demanding titles don't cause the problems DBD can. They promised us 60fps, my Xbox1x struggles for 30, and can dip into the teens at times, especially indoors. It's just this game.

Do the experiment. Find out for yourself.

I wonder how many strictly PC players have tried the game on console to see how rough it is. I've seen PC players that switched from console to PC talk about how much of a difference it is and how rough it has been when they've hopped back on to console but I've yet to see someone that only plays PC give the game a shot on console just to see the difference.

Download is 250 mbps and upload is 38.

The game is badly optimized. This isn't caused by bad internet and if mine isn't good enough then idk what to tell you.

So weird we are on different consoles and when we test our internet connections it shows it is running fine yet we have specific FPS drops anytime a survivor across the map is hit with sloppy butcher, or when a gen is completed, or when bloodlust kicks in, or we hit tier 3 with Myers.... Must be the internet, couldn't possibly be that the game is poorly optimized when we don't have these issues with any other online game. /s ๐Ÿ™„

It could've been any one of the rules listed here ttps://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/87004/forum-rules#latest

Mods generally delete post/comment that broke the rules.

  • Don't play injured, your just feeding him and making it easier for him to find you.

If you can see blood orbs hanging around instead of disappearing he is using add on where he can see your aura if you interact with them.

Don't hang out in dead zone if he's using his power.

Split up. Most Onis use Infectious Fright to find nearby survivors when they down someone, this becomes more useful for Oni when they are using their power.

Play as Oni yourself to see what it's like using the power. Playing couple rounds as a killer, even if you suck with them, gives you a ton of info for how they work.

  • If licensed vampire dlc I'd rather Buffy w/ the Master as the killer. Would love for there to be Willow survivor legendary and vamp Willow killer legendary.

  • I've started so many matches since last summer in the killer's terror radius (can hear it as camera is spinning) or facing the killer. It sucks, especially when it's a killer that camps at start of match.

And it bleeds into the queue time problem as well. Fewer consolers playing killer means a larger % of them playing survivor compared to PC, where playing both and/or maining killer is much more common.

Evening out the performance differences would benefit all players on every platform. Am I the only one who thinks so?

Not only do fewer play killer on console but many of those that do turn crossplay off. I've seen many say they turn off crossplay just for killer but turn it on for survivor. Why so many with crossplay on have terrible q times while those of us on console with crossplay off don't have bad q times.

I can guarantee you that Nurse and Blight are EXPONENTIALLY worse.

First time I heard someone say Nurse was best killer in the game I laughed, I thought they were joking. Then more agreed and I was like "are you just terrible at the game? Nurse is easy escape." Then I found out that on PC Nurse is actually a good killer and I couldn't believe how big of a difference it is watching a PC Nurse from streams vs the Nurses I was facing. I've had maybe a handful of good Nurses in my few thousand hours of playing.

I can't imagine they could properly balance her between console and pc. Could do what would be a minor nerf on pc but would be huge nerf for the console player.

  • So many killers powers hurts console players instead of helping them. I'm curious of stats for killers between console and pc. Like what is the difference in performance between them. How many on console rarely use the killers powers to avoid FPS drops. How often do killer miss hits/lose chases when bloodlust kicks in.

How can you properly balance a killer when console platforms experience performance issues that directly impact the killers.

  • It's definitely a challenge that encourages bad game play. I got it done against Wraith because my swf teammate was good with me pretty much farming him before wraith could hit his bell.

  • Yes, it's so bright that it makes auras difficult to see as survivor or killer.
