  • that is exactly what i did to get it. A challenge shouldn't require a loss just to pull off reliably.

  • @scoser said:

Escape or EGC challenges are terrible in general, especially in solo queue where it's usually a 3v1 due to someone going AFK, DCing, or instasuiciding on the hook.

Yeah right now that is what is happening. Been trying to survive with 4 random perks but im solo q so that doesn't happen. Just had a match with a kate ad nea that farmed eachother

  • This would be so nice.

  • I thoroughly enjoy killer. I dont play to win I play to jump scare and pull off weird and funny things. A benefit of killer is that they have more power over the mood of the match than survivors so I can do that still.

As survivor…I hate it. I hate this game as survivor so much. Its not the gameplay either, like the mechanics are fine. Its the players I am paired with that make it the most miserable experience possible. The MMR in this game is so bad, the survivors i get paired with barely have a brain. I genuinely had a streamer in my lobby one time who did not know what a generator looked like. My MMR is NOT that low. I survive enough to where its pretty decent. Survivors are a blast they're so prone to goofing off and being chill. I don't even mind the bully squads because it usually results in me getting a 4k at 5 gens. The survivors I hate are the comp kids that play strictly for tournaments. But killers play like their next meal depends on slugging for the 4k.

The people who play killer are the real source of my frustration though. They always argue that tunneling and slugging is a valid strategy to win and I'm not entitled to survive. Like yeah, you're right, but why do you feel entitled to my suffering? Why cant you play in a manner that allows everyone to enjoy the game. But then its "well survivors bully or survivors are swf". Most survivors who are swf aren't pro-gamers. Usually just people who are friends wanting to play with friends. Hell most swf you don't even know are swf cuz they're not that great. If i can win virtually every game without tunneling, camping, or slugging, why can't you? IDC about losing, I care about having fun and that aint it.

The ONLY reason I even touch survivor anymore is to play with my friends (the ones who still play), and get the survivor challenges done. But the survivor challenges are so awful it just increases the frustration.

TLTR: This game used to be a blast until the hyper-competitiveness took over like a malignant cancer. I miss the days when total domination wasn't a prerequisite for fun in video games

Omg yes, I 100% agree! Dead By Daylight was not meant to be a competitive game, it was suppose to be a party game. Have some fun, some quick scares, some laughs, win, lose, etc. but some of these people just wanna run the meta and hurry into the next game, it's boring gameplay and like you said it kills the vibe completely for both survivors and killers.

Nothing kills a game quite like hypercompetitive players and "comp" mentality.

I get what you're saying, it's human nature to become accustomed to things. That's why they need to increase the unpredictability factor in Dead By Daylight to keep even a little bit of that scare factor. Like I hate being able to look at a killer or survivor and just take a rough guess on what they're running. That's why if you make people play in a little more unpredictable way, the builds will change, the strats will change, etc. and hell they'd be unique in their own ways. Idk I'm just trying to reclaim what's been lost to me and so many other players in this game 😥

this would be really nice. As killer I pretty much exclusively run jump scare or meme builds. Not to win but strictly to jump scare them or just meme. Not only is it hilarious for me but the survivors love it too. It’s great when I have their stream audio pulled up so I can hear their reaction to the jumpscares lol. I think a big part of the loss of the “scare” factor is the rise in competitive players who only care about the meta way to play and that’s it. Kills the vibe

But see that's exactly the problem, no one should be getting use to it no longer being scary. The very definition of what the horror genre is, is that it's "intended to evoke strong feelings of fear, dread, and unease in the audience, often exploring themes of the macabre, the unknown, and the supernatural." Now I don't want the game to be unplayable but I'd also like that fear factor to return and if we can't have it from the killers on their own, then in my mind make environmental changes like lighting, adding weather, etc. I want all (new players and old) to keep the factors of what a game in the horror genre should have, now true we might not be able to reclaim the "scary" factor for all us players who have played awhile, but like we should at least feel tension, dread, and uneasiness when in-game. So like the fact that yall are just telling me like "it is how it is" or "we're all old players so not getting scared is now a normal thing" just shows to me how numbed you all are too, so change is needed somewhere somehow.

no matter what they do you will become numb to it or get used to it. Thats just human psychology. Like with love, when you’re with someone long enough the intense feelings from the beginning of the relationship start to die down and be replaced by other emotions. Scary movies and games in general don’t scare me at all but I like them for their entertainment value and concept, I’m not gonna say they aren’t horror because I’m not scared of them. Rather I have just become desensitized to horror as a whole because I expose myself so much to it.

  • i mean it IS still a horror game. Just because yall don't feel fear doesnt mean it isnt horror. A big part of the reason whyy you dont get scared is because its a video game youve put a lot of hours into. Its horror is more akin to teen screams or slashers where its just about killing and being helpless.

  • im 90% certain rize is confirmed to be a legendary skin for Kaneki.

Kaneki has an interesting wardrobe so I think any of his outfits would work fine. Got his hoodie, we got haise when he was in the CCG, his anteiku uniform, the outfit when he was getting tortured, or my personal favorite. the one where he has no arms and no legs and he slither around like a worm

I am definetly more annoyed by "do something and escape as specific character".

annoying is more accurate than what i meant by "difficult". they're so tedious

  • DBD already is toxic enough idk if we wanna attract the notoriously most toxic gaming community over here

What do you think of comp and dbd as a whole? Has it affected the game since its conception? In a 'NET' positive or negative way? Thank you!

    sure thing my guy

extremely negative. As the comp community in DBD increased, so has the toxicity and negativity in the community. Comp ruins game communities. The moment someone adopts a "comp" mindset, fun is no longer the reason for playing or a priority. you begin to blame others for your failures and use tactics and behaviors that ruin the enjoyment of everyone else to feed your comp ego of "winning is everything". It turns a game that was originally designed as a party game, into a sweat fest that is a festering ground for anger and "us vs them". as for if it was a net positive for player population. Net negative undoubtable. August of 2018 had 20k more players than the game has now. The peak of DBD (outside of chapter releases) happens when 2v8 occurs, because of how casual, fun, and non-competitive it is. I know significantly more players who quit DBD because of how competitive it has gotten, than people who have stayed or got into for the competitiveness. In fact I have yet to play with or meet someone who has positive things to say about the DBD competitive community and playstyle.

  • All my friends left DBD, they come back to play 2v8 but only briefly. They'd often be taken out of the game early via tunneling or slugged, and that's not fun so they left. We went on to more coop horror games rather than versus. Weve been playing a lot of R.E.P.O lately. DBD has so much opportunity to be goofy and there are videos showing that, But the game is being swarmed by hyper competitiveness and content creators are justifying certain gameplay for the sake of victory, justifying all of the behavior of these people.

God forbid video are for fun and not social dominance

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Both sides are right and wrong at the same time. It's like Schrodinger's cat. It's everywhere and nowhere.

The only nuance in the conflicting sides.

The survivor side consists of casual people who are attracted by the fun. While the killer side consists of competitive people who play as if their life depends on it.

The right question we can ask is. Why do only competitive types of people find playing as a killer attractive?

I have noticed this pattern too, survivors are far more inclined to be goofy and meme while killers are often hyper focused on winning.

I think it comes down to the nature of the roles:

Killers: They're the power role and their job is to hunt and dominate. Competitive people have this inherent desire to be that, to dominate and be the best. They control the pace and mood of the match. They have no teammates so a victory is all on them and greatly reinforces ego. Of course some people play killer due to general unhappiness and they can take out their frustration on survivors. Essentially both versions of the killer seeks a feeling of validation from their victory and victory is a prerequisite for fun because a loss threatens that ego.

Survivors: By design a survivor is supposed to die majority of the time. So survivors are used to losing, meaning they have grown past victory being a prerequisite for fun (for the most part). So many survivors go into the game just looking for fun expecting to lose anyway. Being a cooperative role it also allows for relationship building and goofing off with other players on the same side. Now there are survivor groups who take the role super seriously similar to that of many killer mains, and they usually ruin the vibe for everyone.

Essentially competitiveness boils down to an external vs intrinsic response with killer having a more external focus of motivation. They look for external validation via rewards or recognition with a desire to be the best and stand out. Killers/competitive people have a strong sense of rivalry where they view others as an obstacle of their success rather than a collaborator. Competitive people experience more stress and anxiety with losing than non-competitive, and sense survivors generally lose (by design) that doesn't bode well with their emotional response.

As for me as a killer main. I am not even remotely competitive. I play it for the jump scares and the opportunity to meme. As survivor memeing is dependent on if the killer is chill like that. While as killer If a survivor isn't vibing with the memes I can just play normally and still have fun. I love the meme opportunities and perks for survivor but…I usually just end up being slugged, tunneled, and humped on the ground so i tend to stick with killer where I cant be robbed of my opportunity to play the game.

  • I dont watch streamers who take the game seriously or play with a very "I must win" attitude or have a "comp" perspective of the game. I like to watch goofy dudes who just make jokes the whole time while playing so my two favorites and the only two i watch are:

Demi & NotDemi- survivor mostly, pretty funny. God awful upload schedule on youtube. Bro is his own laugh track. IDK if he streams

Twoknee & Twokneetwo - Killer mostly, also pretty funny and is a meme lord. Regular youtube uploads. IDK if he streams

You wont hear either of them say "this type of tactic is required to win", they play for fun and their videos reflect that.

  • I argue this all the time. Like if you HAVE to tunnel or camp or slug then you are out of your skillset. Your strategies you've adopted to compensate have artificially boosted your MMR to make you rely on those tactics even more. Literally a self-fulfilling prophecy. The same goes for survivors who say you HAVE to be in a 4 man swf with meta perks and syringes.

Players need to learn to take the L (winning isn't everything) so they can naturally go to an MMR range that allows them to have fun in the game.

People use winning in video games as a major source of validation and in doing so ruin the enjoyment for them and everyone they play with. Hyper competitiveness is the worst.

  • Every update/update announcement goes like this with the community:

Killer mains: This is how you know the devs are survivor mains! survivor sided update and game as usual.

Survivor mains: This is how you know the devs are killer mains! killer sided update and game as usual.

People who actually play both: 😑

  • For me, I don't say "GG" unless it was genuinely a good game. meaning both sides had fun, played well, and there was no poor behavior involved such as bully squads or hard tunneling. If the game was played where everyone was allowed to have fun (SUPER rare in dbd), then i will accept a "GG". But usually when I get a GG in this game its from the problematic player and they're being facetious.

That being said if I felt it was genuinely a "GG" im gonna have words to say beyond two letters. Im gonna compliment and talk to them, have an actual convo with them.

"GG" just feels lazy and as though it is expected or required. Making it not feel genuine and is there out of culturally forced "politeness".

  • Honestly this would be awesome. Delta Force has the all time best system where once a week they tell you how many people they banned, the type of bans, and even have a wall of shame to see their username. They also give you compensation if a cheater in your lobby was banned.

I'm glad you got it done! I still need to work on the Premonition and point at the killer challenge. 🤔☠️

It's a little buggy for me, but at the moment I'm just working on the newer tome haha. I'm glad I could be of service. 🫡

I had issues with it too. I had to point, let the full animation go through, then wait a second while i stood there. Its a super wonky challenge

  • I love playing a stealth nemesis because of his loud af footsteps. its so funny to me. I like to go on midwhich so they dont know if the footsteps are above, below, or next to em.

What I would recommend with 4 gens done in a single match is to slap on Bond and Prove Thyself.

Hope for a decent soloq team and group up right when someone is about to finish gens. I got that one at some point. You can even go an extra mile and put Deja Vu on too. 😊

    Exactly what I did

So after a few really rough matches. Including getting screwed by a server crash and a INTENTIONAL sandbagging ada wong. I did it.

I was lucky enough to get a hardcore tunneling huntress that tunneled a sable that was cracked in chase while the others body blocked. I did all five gens. I am so happy. All challenges are done now.

The spine chill one was def wayyyy harder

  • UPDATE: I FINALLY did the no hook spine chill challenge. Now its time for the one I fear the most. 4 gens in a single match. Once I do that, every challenge will be done

  • @Prometheus1092 said:

I saw this thread and thought I'd check, I too missed that challenge so gave it ago just now. Did it first try lol. Probably luck that I went against trickster that got total of 2 hooks the whole match but still... Got it so definitely not impossible

Challenge was escape without being hooked with spine chill.

Icant for the life of me do it. every match has been super sweaty blights and what not. I've tried every build possible. I swapped my name to ask for help from the killer but that just resulted in me being slugged and humped for four minutes.

maybe if i just lose A LOT my mmr will drop to a point where its feasible.

  • petition to sort characters by gyatt size, ==.

jk, we do need more sorting option tbh. I would like an option to "favorite" characters and have them appear at the top of the list.

  • I dont need to read this post to know the gist of the replies.

    Killer mains: Its survivor sided!!!

    Survivor mains: Its killer sided!!!

People who actually play both: 🙄

  • This would be a really good change.

Mirrored illusion is great for meme builds. I like to watch them smack my illusion, get blast mined, then see their reaction as i play my guitar as the mad hatter

Yea I’ve literally been doing the same thing but one of my teammates was tryna do it but just got cornered by another one of the killers in 2v8 while another person was just left on the ground being refused to get picked up and they both died from the timer running out cuz of it

An honorable death. Better than feeding the slug mori. Had one match where I juiced a nemesis for like half the match and he finally got me. Dude stood over my body while the last gen and gates popped and was leaving me on the ground. Thankfully an absolute god tier Wesker smacked him then hooked me then called out his behavior in chat. ill never forget that wesker

  • I imagine that after adding the worlds most annoying character (legion) they'll continue down that path, so probably twins or doctor.

That being said I hope its a more dynamic character like the unknown or something that people enjoy playing as and against

  • I think just making the mode permanent would make qeue times better as a lot play it out of fear of missing out. Many people tend to migrate to 1v4 after a bit anyway. Like I dont play 2v8 anymore because of legion literally every ,match, so now im back to 1v4

  • My favorite thing to do is to sit at the gate till the time runs out to rob them of the mori.

The end game mori is a problem. it also robs people of a comeback play like with power struggle or something.

  • well i would assume theyd connect to either the south American server or the west coast servers and the Europeans would connect to the European servers.

  • @TohsakaMine said:

Thats definitely interesting. I also play on the east coast and i very rarely have killers over 80 ping. Have you tried changing your server region slightly? there's a couple servers on the east coast you can use and it should affect your ping too much. Im on the Pittsburgh server on steam and have no issues. If this is a more persistent issue than ive encountered, it would definitely be worth finding a solution. That being said, thats probably easier said than done

Yeah dude it happens very frequently for me. could be the time I play the game as its usually between 12am and 3am (late shift worker). But ill give it a shot on switching to another server.

  • Just had: back to back to back. A VPN killer from poland (wraith), VPN killer from mexico (very toxic spirit), and a VPN killer from Bulgaria (huntress). The pings from these VPN are absolutely frustrating. Had 2 dudes leave right off the bad with the wraith the ping was so bad.

PLEASE get a VPN blocker in this game or something.

  • just had a match of 2v8 where I did two gens. was hooked and left to second stage. meanwhile that entire time not a single person touched a gen or literally anything. not even an attempt to get me. so…i went next.

  • As survivor and killer i adore RPD and midwhich. But my least favorite map is crotus prenn asylum. disdain that map so much especially as killer

  • If you need to camp and tunnel at 2 gens, less, or at all. You are out of your MMR range, and should take the loss to drop down to a bracket on par with your skills. Using cheap tactics to secure a win only artificially increases your MMR and makes things harder for you in the long run.

I do agree with the number of hooks being more influential than the number of deaths.

  • Moris used to be cool and interesting now they make my eyes roll whenever i see em. Especially getting slugged for it. gotta wait for the last guy on hook to die just so i can see a mori that happens all the time.

  • I am also against it. we have a way to cancel out all map offerings so its not necessary. Also I have builds that rely on specific maps for the memes, this would essentially render them pointless

  • my issue is legion. flat out refuse to play 2v8 because every match is legion and just perpetual mending. It went from relaxing and fun to the most annoying experience i can imagine.

  • i dont know what Beahvior can actually do. To me, it isnt a balance issue, its a player issue. The toxicity comes from the players conscious decision to be that way. Its a consequence of the hyper competitive and the "not responsible for your fun" crowd. A player rep system might help a little, but im not sure how. More or less the "shame them into acting right" philosophy

  • the teleporting to healing survivors is so dumb and facilitates tunneling so much. He can teleport to finished gens, he should have to at least to that if were gonna be revealed while healing.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    no mither.

I dont think being one shot down, bleeding, and grunting the entire match is even close to the equivalent of what I'm suggesting

  • A lot veered away from the event due to rampant toxic and unfun behavior for both sides. As survivor I experience non-stop slugging and tunneling. As killer the survivors usually bring super stacked items that are just really annoying.

  • @fixblitzskin said:

true talent is doing nothing but slugging in every video with knockout because hooking isn’t worth it and choy a smaller dbd youtuber also said he isn’t going to hook anymore and just slug. Is 4 man slugging the newest trend in content creation for killers?

Yeah it is, I was in a match with a popular streamer who played as leather face on midwitch, his goal from the beginning was to slug for the bleedout and count the rage quits and salt. i eventually found a tiktok of him from the match. The issue is that content creators are super influential in community gameplay, and when they behave a certain way it justifies it for the others or causes the other people to play like the as well. personally i think its unfortunate that people rely solely on mirroring content creators rather than finding their own way.

The only content creators I watch on DBD are Demi (hes funny and lighthearted) and Twoknee (hes funny and lighthearted). I watch for the humor and vibes rather than those treating DBD like a professional sport. I used to watch more but they slowly started getting into the slug and tunnel mentality, became super passive aggressive, and was more about dominating for content rather than enjoyment.

4 boons is crazy. you get 2% haste, no scratch mark and aura reading, unlimited unbreakable and 100% faster healing. 4 map swf with that is harder to defeat than i imagined.

Its honestly really good. Circle of healing gives so much information when you have four boons on the map. pretty much always know who is being chased and where. I use shadowstep (anti-aura), exponential (anti-slug) and circle of healing (faster healing), and pair it with tenacity. teh amount of times its gotten me up is insane. Then they get hella mad about it…like bro just pick me up, thats how you counter it, by hooking like youre supposed to.

  • I just stopped playing survivor unless my friends beg me too. Its miserable, and when we do we all run boons because of how bad the slugging is.

  • I do not recommend playing any DBD event as survivor (except 2v8), at least as killer even when you get sweats you can still play the game instead of bleed out on the ground or get tunneled out immediately.

it is not worth playing. Get the reward via killer challenges and save your sanity.

  • I tried chaos shuffle as survivor and loathed it entirely. Every match was slugging or tunneling on a whole new level. Had vecna tunnel me for five whole gens, dude only got two hooks. Other than that it has been exactly like what youre experiencing….rampant 4 man slugging. I did the killer challenges for the event reward and went back to normal dbd. But what greeted me there? the same thing, even a 4 man slug for the bleed out cannibal. I hate playing survivor so much now because of how bad the slugging is.

Wound up going full boon build with tenacity because of it.

btw im in NA (EAST) and it seems to be as bad here. That being said I do get a lot of VPN killers that are super toxic, usually from South America but I get a lot of French (not french canadian) and most recently Khazakstan
