I'd disagree. Clearly shows there isn't much interest in the game anymore. For the most part, nearly every big DbD streamer has dropped it as well. Then if you compare the two games on Google trends, DbD is far above Evil Dead in trends, even when Evil Dead released mid May which was a 80-40 ratio, now it's a 92-4 (with Evil Dead being the 4). Pretty safe to say the game has dropped off massively.

trendy & popular does not always mean better.

DBD is just easier to access due to its licenses as for Evil Dead its limited to one.

not hard to see why which one is popular but the objectively better game is Evil Dead while DBD is still the most popular.

i know alot of people like to see salt content as well & you can get alot of that in DBD of course.

i watch spooknjukes on youtube just for salt content because the lengths that some DBD players would go...

Doesn’t have many choices? Bruh, how about not wasting such a long time on ONE survivor? As Killer u should ALWAYS go for the weak links not for the looping pros. Yet, for some prideful reason the killer gets all rilled up and insists on the mistake of wasting his time on a single person the whole match. Just out of spite I take it.

also, its not a gamble ??? Like if it took more than 20 secs to get ANYTHING from that player u should move on to another not waste the whole game on them. There are 4 players in any given match, not all of them are good at chases, find that player.

exactly, if in first like 30-40 seconds you dont get a hit & survivor is chaining loops, you have to switch off

it makes no sense to continue chase...

unless the only way to redeem match is to make sure said survivor who was looping doesnt escape & try to ruin the match for them i guess.

  • no but im going to now ://

yup & i have to start to plan how im going to mess up the loop, just in hopes they dont face camp...

looping has become pointless in soloQ im afraid.

If what you are saying its correct then you absolutely dunked on them, looping for that long without the get out of jail card that is dh is pretty skillfull, and you probably hurt their ego so the only thing they tought they could do was to tunnel you or camp, but fam you absolutely destroyed that player, you won that match.

i get that its a win since they did waste the whole game on me but my main problem is that MMR will keep me in these lobbies...

i just want fair & balanced matches, to much where its one side running through the other. :/

it doesnt help that soloQ teammates can be random as well.

  • @TheSubstitute said:

You're at low to low intermediate MMR if that's happening frequently. Any Killer that doesn't know when to drop chase is not high MMR. I'm not saying you should be at that MMR or what MMR you should be at since I don't know you. However, if Scott Jund still has his video up about accidentally bullying low MMR Killers it's a good watch.

Since MMR just measures kills/escapes and not what you do for your team an altruistic survivor who is willing to sacrifice themselves for the team can end up at low MMR even though they would have been purple or red ranks under the Emblem system.

I've had games myself where me and another survivor have gotten three gens done by ourselves (since the other two were dead) and escaped. Realistically, that killer should have never been put against us as two survivors dead at 3 gens left should be an auto win for the Killer. It's not common but it has and does happen. It's one of the issues with such a binary MMR rating and I'm guessing it's also why my games tend to be extreme: either 0 to 3 hooks and a 4E or a 4K with gens still up.

TLDR: Improve your MMR if you want to find Killers that will drop chase if needed

i will def check out Scott Junds video!! havent watched him in a while.

exactly.. measuring escape & kills is so flawed & has to many variables but honestly they went with the easiest way to make an MMR system. the altruistic survivor/ good ones always die since theyre always interacting or they just dont care about escaping and are willing to trade during EGC.

improving personal MMR is hard in soloQ :((

  • ive been on my ps3 & psp more lately :))

  • i watched it & wasnt my cup of tea.

turned it off 30 min. into the first movie.

the soundtrack is cool since the Pixies is in there & i love them but overall the story didnt pull me in.

Well, the didn't state it meant a "better" game, but more exposure means more sales. Not to mention if more people are watching it probably means there is more interest there to keep the game going.

alot more people would rather watch DBD then play it was what I concluded to. its a 6 year old game, who doesnt know it by now??

but OP is correct BHVR has to step up their game.

if you remove licenses, what do you have?

its whats got DBD its name, not the gameplay.

as soon as people hear they can play as Heather, Jill or Leon and be chased by Michael Myers of course theyll be interested. the problem this game has is keeping the players it gains as most people who have played polished or actual survival horror games are easily put off this games bugs & mechanics.

What's the difference ? There's a difference between a killer like me. And whoever you looped for that long 🤣. There's plenty a good killer can do about it. It just goes back to my point. Do you really expect baby killers to do anything but camp after being overwhelmed all match ?

well i cant check hours since im on PS4 but im willing to bet theres people who have over 1000s of hours who still get ran for all five gens.

this is not exclusive to baby killers when majority of killers do it as well.

So general advice. Do not taunt the killer. Its really stupid how far 80% of killers will go to make your experiance terrible the minute you teabag or gesture. Reasonable killers will ignore you but there a lot of egos in dbd. Good killers will drop chase if your doing well but you need to get your mmr up to see that.

Survival is not the only hallmark of skill if your getting killed messing up a killers game by looping them like chumps take pride in it. Victory isnt indivigual survival its the teams overall survival. I would take a single game of brillaint looping and being tunneled/camped if it meant i got one or two great chases. Over ten games of reapairing gens and surviving.

Most importantly do nit give up buy as much time as possible it shouldnt be the communities job to correct tunneling and facecampijg killers but unfortunatly it is. Never give them a win.

i dont taunt killer but if i do it makes no difference so might as well.

exactly killers with IQ would drop chase immediately and would only go after if in bad position.

dying over & over sucks :((

I only tunnel that hard when they're asking me to. I had a match last night where everyone brought a flan, so I was going to get my two hooks and let everyone live to keep their invitations and get the most out of our shared flans. In comes the clicky clicky teabaggers, so I hooked the worst one and face camped them to death, and the other I downed after failed attempts at body blocking from the other survivors after exit gate was opened. I picked them up and dropped them inside the gate so they could crawl their way to safety.

I am petty yet merciful and generous.

I firmly believe tunneling is a useful strategy, but tunneling for six plus minutes just means they're tilted.

if i was chasing someone for that long id DC...

i guess its an endless cycle in this game :/

its a bad experience to be soley targeted.. when i play ED atleast i can fight back if they wanted to single me out.

Ok...So you're supposedly running them for 4-5 gens. For 6-8 minutes...The game is lost and pointless at that point because of broken maps. Or more likely baby killers, because let's face it. You're not running a GOOD killer for that long...Do you expect baby killers to know how to do anything different at that point ? Run DS

whats the difference? if i know map and how to loop ..not much any killer can do

DS is boring & its fixing game mechanics with perks so no

    @KillermainBTWm8 said:

The reality of the situation is that the killer is throwing the match for one kill. It doesn't reward bad gameplay at all in that case. Because they only get 1 kill. The counter is for your team to just play well and get out, the killer will eventually learn that this strategy doesn't work as a result. It's unfortunate for you but overall you are helping your team get out and the killer will only have one kill. It's fine.

Also I'd just use DS if this is a common occurrence for you. Some might view the perk in this or that way but playing to win is nothing to be ashamed of.

It's a little bit of apples and oranges, imo. I'd never let a surv run me for 5 gens (even if they could, I'd drop chase long before it got anywhere near that point), but if they were clearly the best player on their team and tried to carry and I got the other three, I'd be more likely to let them go.

As a killer, sparing one surv is a lot more palatable than dying when you're a surv.

That said, if I am a surv and I carried my team and they all get out because the the killer was so tilted that they ignored everyone but me, that's a win in my book.

i wished my team would have finished the gens :((

instead they all went down body blocking for me/ the hook

i was just scratching my head questioning why reward this gameplay more?

I never equipped Meta perks besides BT or IW but I have started removing BT for Prenatal Guardian because that gives better benefits when you do a safe hook rescue.

But when a Killer does that I hold on as long as I can because I know as long as he's camping thats more gens that could be getting done. So I do yoga while on the hook to let the others know hey Killer is camping babay face.....but there were times I deserved to be camped because let's face it....after 8 continuous pallet stuns with a flashlight stun after....I don't blame the Killer to camp me into death

    lolol

If you aren't trying that hard, you already have the solution to your problem. Nothing you are saying is consistent. If you give it 100% (remember you are the one saying that you are not currently) then you won't get downed and the problem resolves itself.

did you read the point of my post?

i feel we"re talking about two different things.

and your solution sounds like to just run killer all the way out the exit gate when that unrealistic to expect on a consistent bases.

  • @Wondertainment said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/331359/why-do-i-have-to-hold-off-on-my-gameplay

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if you are able to run the Killer for four Gens (or the EGC) it stands to reason that you should be able to run said Killer the rest of the way and get out. It doesn't make much sense that you would be a God at looping until a magical point in time and then collapse. Also for DS to matter you would have to have been hooked during that incredible four Gen run, so are you leaving something out? Chasing you all game without getting you on a hook is not tunneling you. It is just a Killer making poor choices and not maintaining Generator pressure. To be tunneling you the Killer would have to run you down, hook you, and then when you get unhooked ignore everyone else and run you down again and again. Running a Killer for four Generators implies that you didn't go down until four Generators were finished or the EGC. Which was it?

Besides, a 3E is a win for you even if you die. A win is a win. What are you doing that makes ALL THESE VERY DIFFERENT PLAYERS magically want to tunnel you? Do you have a funny name? Do you t'bag a lot? Are you clearly the weakest link? What I'm pointing out is the only thing all these different Killers have in common is YOU. That would seem to suggest, to me at least, that as the common denominator you are partially (if not fully) responsible for what is happening to you.

im not even trying that hard lol

why would you assume im being toxic?

not everyone has the time to play games to be toxic.. i have a life & dont have time for that.

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3030667#Comment_3030667

To understand sometimes tunneling in your eyes isn't what the Killer sees. From what it sounds like because you looped him so much he wanted you out asap and your teammates made the mistake to try and body block giving the killer free slugs

    Edit

There has been times I have been accused of tunneling or camping when I actually wasn't. I was accused of tunneling a single survivor but I actually never did I would break chase and let them go but I turn a corner and find them again, I already let th go once but if I find them again I'm chasing again.

Or accused of camping as Spirit when I hooked a survivor and with BBQ saw his teammates and went after them found one but saw the other was going for rescue I gave chase to rescuer they went left on a hill hook and I went right in phase and caught her before she unhooked. So in both cases in the Survivors eyes I was camping and tunneling but actually was not

i know theres those situations but no.

killer puts me on hook and scoots a little closer & just sits there & nods to me that i wont be getting away & it feels rlly bad when your under equipped bc it just feels like accept the punishment..

    my build is literally

im literally giving killers a break by not running exhaustion & i still have to dumb down my gameplay to avoid the tunnel & camp?

  • this is unhealthy...

  • @BenZ0 said:

Half of the times where you get tunneled it isnt even tunneling from the killers view.

Ever thought of maybe you are out of position? Its your own fault if you dont watch out where you are standing.

You ran into him maybe, also not his fault, its a free down.

If you are on last hook, ez kill no point on letting you go for nothing.

You don't get to go free if you ran the killer for 5 gens and then got caught. You still got caught. If you wanted to go free, you wouldn't get caught.

I don't suppose you'd just let a killer hook you after he demonstrated their skill at downing your team mates quickly. You know, to reward the killers superior skill?

teammates werent looping, just jumping in front of me to body block because even they realized it was extreme.

but why should i accept this every time i want to loop? instead i have to play like a baby survivor in order to not tilt killer.

It's a known scientific fact from psychology that people statistically don't like change. Basically humans rely a lot on habits, and changes force us out of the comfort zone and cause stress, but whatever :D

I googled it in case my English was bad. To acknowledge means "To admit the existence or truth of. To express recognition of; make notice of." Since they literally had a whole paragraph named "camping & tunneling", we should all agree that they did acknowledge these aspects. I still believe the word you want to use is "addressed".

In terms of tunneling, I believe adding the 5 second BT to every survivor on any team is a huge help both with tunneling and camping. DS got barely changed, but the real game-changer of course is Off the record. I believe hardcore tunneling was already not the best strategy in high MMR matches, now it's just straight-up a bad idea. Especially with other things, like the new WGLF perk granting endurance too. Focusing 2 or 3 survivors heavily is of course still the go-to strategy, which in the current realities of the game would be extremely hard to change.

In terms of camping, I have to agree with you. the 90-second gen time looks scary, and they did not touch the ultimate dumb build perks, like deadlock. I do believe this can be a huge issue. On the other hand, trading hooks should be easier with basekit BT + Off the record should help with that EXCEPT against Bubba. But Bubba is a huge problem himself, unless the first survivor loops him for at least 60 seconds (+ the time for him to actually find that survivor), there is little chance to win.

So yeah, camping is something that I think they should look at 100%

Let's see the meta changes. Just because you don't run DH and IW it doesn't really matter in terms of the meta. You are not the meta, obviously.

BT is still strong, but not nearly as mandatory.

DS is strong, but you can use OTR instead.

Is there going to be an absolutely huge meta shift on the survivor side? I think no. maybe some players will play endgame builds, but that's it.

On the killer side, there is much more potential for huge changes

I think it's a brave patch and a very big one. Is it perfect? absolutely not! Is it better than most of BHVR's patches? yeah, by far. I hope they do address camping more. Currently, if all survivors after spawning sit on gens, even if the first guy goes down relatively quickly, you can get a 3man escape. But the gen speed changes can indeed be crucial for this in case of a Bubba especially. Against most other killers you can trade at the last second and win an insane amount of additional time.

Ohh, also sidenote: they should make Kinship not suck in Solo Q. that'd be really good

im not saying your wrong about your change & phycology but this is a video game and dont see how they correlate??

    its just opinion is all.

ofc hardcore tunneling is bad when you go against good survivors who know how to loop. the problem is when those strats are used on casuals/ baby survivors & soloQ in general. its like almost 3-4K every time in my situations.

and 100% i can predict that this update will:

form a new meta & cycle begins again

they need to address baseline game mechanics more because its the same thing after this patch.

band aid over band aid fixes & we're still using perks to fix the issues within the game.

all BHVR did was swap out perks and inserted new ones into Meta so like??

is there really a difference? cause i dont see it

  • yes i am punching my computer screen as we speak

They did more then the bare minimum. They gave you half a BT basekit. That is GIGANTIC. To see here and look at that and try to say with a straight face that the developers did not acknowledge the issue with tunnelling is not even an opinion, it is just objectively wrong.

It’s just stupid to reduce the ds stun if they want to avoid tunnling! They easily could make the stun 10 seconds to hurt tunnler, but hey: „this perk is overused“ 🤷🏼‍♂️

All these upcoming changes do nothing against camping, cause for that it’s needed to have a chance to unhook. So why not simple: if the killer is in totale 30 seconds near than 24 meters near the hook while not in chase, the hooked survivor can selfunhooking (in stage 1&2) and get bt for 15 seconds.

literally just make it a 10 second DS

and for people who says thats to long, its very COUNTERABLE if you dont tunnel

im tired of this community acting like facecamping & tunneling gets punished by gens since we all know thats a different story in soloQ

i just played against tunneling & camping spirit & nurse and its insane that people actually believe that casuals just have to adapt & get good.

not everyone strives to be the ultimate comp DBD player :))

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/330160/this-game-devs-have-no-hope

I'm not sure if you are trolling or not, but well. Reading your post, I assume you are mostly playing solo survivor, which is a huge pain in the butt. in like one-third of the matches someone gives up early or worse, just straight up DC. it's painful and if you want to win, don't play it (I know, terrific advice).

    1) It is sad that there are no solo Q changes, in fact, some things in the dev update seemed to actually nerf solos. I am sad about that.

    2) They literally acknowledged camping and tunneling explicitly in the dev update. So you are just wrong on that one. Maybe instead of the word "acknowledge" you wanted to say "addressed", I don't know.

    3) Why do you say solo survivor is now unplayable? What changed exactly what makes you feel that way?

    4) 5-second BT is better than 0-second BT most of the time when I play solo. So I'm very confused why this makes you mad. It's literally a basekit 5th perk for every survivor. This is a VERY powerful buff to survivors, especially solo because you can't rely on some team members bringing perks. You also get the speed boost, which will help you to reach a safer place in those 5 seconds and you still can run other perks that help you with these if you want to. (like SB)

    5) The DS nerf is laughable and very insignificant. The endgame disabling is basically fine. If you used it as an endgame crutch perk, well, your bad. It's very strong, but it should not be a 100% escape at that point. The stun duration is a bit concerning but only against blight and nurse, maybe MDR spirit. Sad, but if they keep the new OTR even slightly close to the current planned power level, it just doesn't matter

    6) No one tricked anyone. Some of us just see potential in the changes. btw It seems to me that with the base killer changes they affect more the m1 killers than the S-tier insane killers, which is good.

Overall the more I read it the better it feels like killers got nerfed. Except for the 90s gen speed, killers lost ruin, pop, pain res. tinkerer got nerfed a bit. The only actual strong slowdown perk I see rn is pentimento, which is one of the best perks to encounter as a solo Q player (because you always know where the totems are)

Survivors on the other hand lost DH and IW. which, lets be honest, IW was not really needed to win anyways. Instead, they got OP off the record, which is, btw, a selfish perk, so it helps solos, if you want to bring it. DS stayed almost the same, unbreakable untouched. boons untouched (which btw is insane). Additionally, EVERYONE got 5 second BT with optionally making it 15, which you should run if you plan on unhooking.

I understand getting used to new things and changes many times is challenging and hard, because we got used to the old so much, but I am not exactly sure what makes you so upset. The only actual thing which you pointed out is 5 second BT, like it's a bad thing.

stop pushing the narrative that people dont like change, its weird & NO THEY FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE since its still the same

two of the most boring aspects of survivor got buffed:

-more gens & buff to tunneling & camping

tell me why should a killer should not camp when this update hits? I know I wouldnt since I can just slap deadlock on my build along with regression & NOED. also this rework was SUPPOSED to shake up meta but:

before update: need BT & DS

after update: still need BT & DS

this was a chance to really let us use new perks and such but im failing to see why I should? a 5 second BT??? is that really reliable?

I dont use DH or IW so I dont care for those perks, looping has always been easy in this game. say what you want but facecamping & tunneling is 80% of the gameplay already & making it more appealing does not help at all.

  • what ive learned over my years of gaming & experience with multiplayer is that some people just have no lives.

they just try to poison the experience for everyone since their not having fun and want others to feel the same

    single player >multiplayer

They removed the BP bonuses from WGLF and BBQ because they didn't want players to feel required to run specific perks to earn more BP.

They didn't make those bonus conditions basekit because they're theoretically reducing the grind (players will need less BP to unlock perks).

BHVR didn't take into account that many people find earning stacks fun and that these bonus conditions encourage healthy gameplay on both sides. Whether or not the bonus BP is necessary is irrelevant: it improved the gameplay experience. It should have been made basekit, adding a HUD element that shows players the stacks they've earned during the match. This change sucks. Players no longer have the option of being rewarded for plays that are better for other players but riskier for escaping/killing, and they no longer get the feeling of accomplishment by earning stacks.

yes it was always satisfying earning the 4 stacks whether i died or not

when i use to play killer i would run this build on all my killers: BBQ, PWYF & STBFL

something about stacks and seeing the numbers... just scratches a weird itch in gaming for me

seems like they just want efficient gameplay which is so boring.

I think it’s a bit premature to draw these conclusions. We don’t know how all this will play out until the changes go live.

I’ve been critical of the devs about certain things, but this is a real attempt to try to shake up the way the game is played and I appreciate that.

Reading through the descriptions of all the perk changes, the only thing that really bothered me was the removal of BP bonuses for BBQ and WGLF. Those bonuses in no way affected the way the game is played and were used by players like me who wanted to use a perk slot to get more BP out of my matches. BHVR decided to take away those bonuses just because they felt like it, giving us the reasons why they thought it was a good idea rather than referring to anything that the players were asking for.

they srsly need to bring back the BP bonuses for WGLF

i always ran it & always gave me a reason to always take a hit or go for the unhooks

it promotes players to be a helping hand + more BP

its scummy since it really does feel like they just took it out just cause like ??

  • i think youre asking to much of BHVR

theyll need about a 2 year break after the amount of work they put into this patch

    ..... T_T

2 modes a casual and ranked will never happen. Sweat lords would still go to casual mode, plus queue times would actually increase.

    unfortunately youre right :((

but we cant expect them to come out w/ an actual good MMR system so its like???
