Played 10 games with him, and while the first 3-5 of them took getting used to, Demo has some pretty good pressure and chase ending potential. I currently place him in B-A tier because he closes distance fast with his Shred (pounce) attack, can jump around the map with the portals, and his Undetectable status after emerging from a portal has already given at least 2 survivors heart attacks in my games. It's definitely a difficult killer to learn, but I'm betting that more experienced players are going to pick him up quickly and prove my tier estimate to be correct. Is it high rank viable? Not sure at the moment (I played at rank 10), but I feel it has the potential to be. The only things I think need to be changed are the time it takes to destroy his portals, which seems to be about 8 seconds or so, and his perks which feel under-powered as I got only a little practical use out of Surge, and no use out of Cruel Limits, or Mindbreaker.

It's 12 seconds. 15 or 16 seconds would probably be the sweet spot in my opinion.

  • Probably a bug. If not, there was absolutely no reason for this change.

  • You mean one or two extra slots only for killer? That would be way too much for killers. There are enough strong killers in this game that don't need any more buffing, in my opinion.

  • We need both of your suggestions in this game so bad. There is no reason not to, since swf survivors already have this information, so why shouldn't solo survivors have this information as well? Just makes their life a bit easier, which is only fair.

One other advantage of swf survivors which solo survivors need big time is knowing whenever a killer is camping or not. It makes such a difference for swf survivors to have this information, and it's not fair that solo survivors are left out of this as well.

The only concern I have is about the new status effect for killer beeing able to stealth camp(I don't hope this dosen't hit kindred..)

Yeah you're right. I mean stealth killers were already quite good at camping. But kindred really should be immune against Undetectable, showing the killers aura regardless.

there is feedback and some do it in a polite manner and do give feed back and some just moan a lot

Sure, there are definitely some posts were people are just ridiculously rude and behave very immature, that's true. It seems like many people on these forums can get very easily offended and personal, even just by people who have different opinions.

For stealth killers, sure this idea is great in theory....but it also requires you to know that the survivor is near that area....and also requires you to prelaunch and preprep that area. I'm not sure about the detection radius of these things but they seem short as hell. Like by default i think you have to be pretty much standing on top of them to be detected....which is pretty bad....which means the detection half of his power doesn't work without an add on or a survivor standing directly on top of the portal...

From what I can see in videos the detection seems quite fine honestly. That's at least my impression. It definitely doesn't just detect survivors that stand right on it.

  • I mean to be fair that's the main point of forums. The devs use these forums to get feedback about what people don't like and what they could change based on player feedback.

  • @Horus said:

@Peanits if you can pass along that the lunge is good but the portals are lackluster and need some help that be great

I think we should wait some more days before jumping to that conclusion. Just like survivors probably will still be able to adapt a bit to the shred ability of Demogorgon, his teleport could have more potential than some think. I personally feel like it could be really good. Especially with the Undetectable status effect the Demogorgon gets whenever he uses his teleports.

THEN SUGEST A NERF THAT CAN'T BE ABUSED FFS

O I forgot you just want fixes without knowing how hard it is to balance a 4v1.

Just improveing the tutorials would do the job as many new players don't know better than camping

I did in my original post. Made even two suggestions. Unless you can tell me how those can be abused, I'll gladly listen and admit those suggestions won't work then. But I personally don't see how these ideas could be abused.

    I added a clip.

It does for sure survivors will either have to drop pallets early or stick to super short loops that can be mind gamed.

A long wall loop is a death sentence. Lets say in that clip if he got to the shack and got to a wall and demo ever got line of sight without a corner to reach in time it'd be over.

Yeah I've just learned that now and saw it in other videos already. Really happy to see the devs adding another strong and viable killer to the roster. He seems to have the perfect amount of chase potential and map pressure, just like Freddy. From what I can tell up to now, I'm really praying that they won't change Demogorgon at all.

Have you seen Zubatlel playing this killer? This killer is pretty good at shutting down loops

Well that's great if his ability really helps shutting down loops. I was scared it didn't, but he seems like he could be another nicely viable killer who's on Freddys level, which would be perfect.

  • @HP150 said:

    The lunge is VERY strong.

They should shift some of the strength out of the lunge and into his portals (and his perks too while they're at it). The portals seem to be the part of his kit that has most skill expression potential anyways, so he should be more rewarded for using them well rather than the lunge which seems pretty basic.

Oh no I hope they don't do that. It's great if he has some chase potential, I hope they don't nerf that ability. It does seem like it takes skill to use it effectively at loops.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

I think he's really good. Willing to bet his dash gets nerfed before live since it takes 1 second to charge and crosses the distance of a jungle gym almost instantly.

Hopefully not. From what I can tell, it doesn't really help countering loops though, or does it?

  • @LordLoboX said:

I have a feeling he's going to be a solid killer.

I played as him once... Once... Because the long waits is the most brutal killer in the game.

It would be great to have another powerful killer.

Do you know if there is any audio cue for when the demogorgon is teleporting to a portal? Like can the survivors hear if he is teleporting to a portal very close to them?

Honestly I think it's more an addon meant for green keys, sure the green key doesn't do anything, but you get this really nice addon without risking losing an ultra/rare key.

Also, it's less insta heals on the web so I mean, can't complain.

Lol, that's also a way to see it.

But yeah, attaching it to a green key will give it much more value.

  • But Left Behind only works when you are the only one remaining in the trial, you do know that? So the aura of the hatch is only shown to you when every other one of your team mates is dead.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/667720#Comment_667720

I guess because it always shows the location of the survivor without using the keys channel stuff, so it's essentially perm bond on one survivor.

Yeah makes sense. It can be quite good, I'm sure. It would still make more sense as a very rae or rare addon to me personally, if you look at the other ultra rare addons survivors have.

No matter, I'm just glad to see survivors getting a new addon. Just surprised the devs didn't mention it at all yet.

  • @Charlisse said:

I received -1 so I lost a point. Normally if a killer or player dc's when game is loading then then you don't lose any points but in this case when killer quit mid game I ended up losing a point and that sucks when earning points takes so much.

Yeah I just thought that even though it shows you received -1 point, it doesn't actually apply to the rank. That's what I thought I read at least. It says you lost a pip, but once you go into the main menu you can see that you actually didn't lose a pip. I don't know for sure, though, I honestly never paid any attention to that yet.

You were saying it would be game breaking and I was just showing that it can be done without completely breaking it and making it unfair.

I do agree that yes, it would change the game completely and maybe that is a bad thing. It wouldn't be the same game it would feel and be different. It would also mean hook perks would need to be changed, Altruism would take a hit, it would take a lot of work that really isn't necessary and maybe not possible.

But it can be done ;)

It probably could be done, but since this game has been already out for 3 years, I doubt the devs would want to change their game so heavily.

Billy is fine. You can loop him, so he's fine. Even with instasaw you only have to adjust your timing a bit.

It could be more of a problem once most of the map reworks have come. He won't be able to be looped so easily anymore if there are more mindgameable pallets.

  • Honestly, if I could decide, I would get rid of all ridiculously powerful killer addons, moris, insta heals and keys.

I can't really say that I've experienced a problem with an insta saw Billy. But maybe Ihaven't faced one. I guess it's just Billy using two addons that both decrease the charge time of his saw?

Countries like Germany want nothing gory at all, whether you're 5 or 75.

Yeah, germany is pretty bad in that regard.

  • I don't think you lose your rank, it just doesn't show your proper ranks if a killer dc's. Not sure about the bloodpoints.

As far as I'm concerned, with dedicated servers, people will be punished more for dcing, which also includes killers of course.

  • I don't quite get why it's ultra rare, but it's nice to see a new addon for survivors.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Seriously. People like you, that is hyper altruistic people, are the reason why Killers camp in the first place.

Someone like you goes in for a save on a camping Killer, they down you because you just ran straight into the Killer's face for at best a hook trade and far more likely a grab with the other person still on the hook, and then the Killer gets another hook and probably another Kill, and now someone else needs to save both of you and suddenly no one is doing gens because you have 2-3 people on a hook because someone tried to play Hero when that was exactly what the Killer was wanting you to do.

You know how often I get free hooks because someone chases me to a Survivor at a hook and then is downed because of it? Far too many.

So if you want to talk about fun? Rush gens and depip the campers out of your game so you can face some actually good Killers in the future.

You want to talk about winning? Rush gens and get out.

You want to talk about saving the guy on the hook? Rush gens thus forcing the Killer to abandon the failing strategy.

You want to talk about how to avoid toxicity? Rush gens instead of rising to the Killer's obvious bait.

You want to talk about pips? Rush gens and get free Gate keeper and Unbroken.

Always rush gens. The Killer doesn't have time to be standing around if you do, so a good Killer won't so you get your precious interaction and a bad Killer will depip until you never see them again.

Who is you in this post?

That's fine though, if survivors had 0 ways to fight back it would be 4Ks all day.

Yes of course. In my opinion, this game is healthily balanced if an optimal killer can get in avarage 1 or 2 kills against an optimal team. I'd say 1k is even fine, since it takes all four survivors to be optimal, while the killers is alone and doesn't depend on anyone.

Btw, I updated my version of Dying Light.

So Dying Light has a limit, but the killer will get faster the debuff.

Compared to the all Dying Light, its just 5% better.

Sounds good. But again, just imagine a Plague with Thana and Dying Light, if she got both perks to max the survivos are repairing and healing at half speed, which would be too much in my opinion.

Just imagine having Sloppy Butcher as well. I know that's three perk slots used. But at that point you wouldn't need any other perks.

  • I really hope dedicated servers will help against these ridiculous hitboxes.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/666990#Comment_666990

With what you've said you've just enforced what I've said, It has only gotten easier for survivors, killers still 4Kd then and they're DEFINITELY 4King now, and you shouldn't even be aiming for 4Ks tbh.

My point stands, game is easier than it has ever been for killers.

Sure it's easier. But not easy when you play against optimal survivors. From what I can see and tell. I mean just looking at the game's design and analysing map design you can still see that survivors have enough ways to fight back, except maybe against Spirit and Nurse. Survivors that play optimally can still use the defences they have to make the match hard for a killer. Which of course should be that way.

But I just feel that if you wanted to win back then you had to hope that survivors make much more mistakes than you do.

At least from where I sit, I find killer incredibly easy, I did well when I first started playing the game before all these changes, I do way better now, except with huntress, her hatchets in this patch are trashhhhhh.

Interesting, even back then when there was pallet vacuum and infinites? Because it seemed that if survivors played that right, there was pretty much no way to win a game as killer, except if you played one of the very powerful killers. At leats that's what it looked like, didn't play back then when the game was in that bad state.

  • @ShyN3ko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/666900#Comment_666900

I think cap on 30% is too hard.

Because the survivor get 33% buff.

So you just using 2 perk slots for a very low effect.

And the perk combination is trash, if the obsession dies.

    Its like:

"I killed a survivor! And I get punished for it...."

That's not a fair way to compare though. Percentage values are different when decreasing or increasing action speed. For example, 100% increased action speed is just 2x the action speed. 100% decreased action speed is 0% speed, so no progress at all. I mean all Dying Light does is giving the Obsession a free Botany Knowledge perk. That perk certainly isn't bad, but it's also not that bif of a deal.

30% is quite a lot though, 50% decreased repair speed for example means you take twice as long to repair a gen. So 160 seconds instead of 120. 30% probably increases the time to repair a generator fully from 80 to a bit more than 120 seconds. That's quite a lot, and people aren't the biggest fan of longer gen times anyways. Killer have to meet certain conditions, so it's not terrible, but having these values being able to get too high isn't good. Maybe 35%, 40% at the very most. I personally feel 30% would be enough. The only thing this cap would really do is ensure that Freddy couldn't get too high values when also using his addons that slow down action speed, in addition to Thana and Dying Light.

  • But if the obsession dc's early enough to not get much use out of this perk, that just screws over the survivor team much more than Dying Light would.

  • @ShyN3ko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/666867#Comment_666867

So lets just say the perk combination can give you ~40%.

    It still have some problems.

    • its rly hard on the start of the match
    • if the obsession heal the other survivors, then the perks combination isnt rly good
    • you are using 2 perk slots for 1 effect
    • survivor healing perks can counter it

If you cap the action speed, then it should be in both ways.

    Increased and decreased.

Well sure, but Dying Light just gets stronger and stronger with every hook, so it's really good later on. Plus that's where the killer has an easier time to pressure gens, since there are less gens left.

But having the action speed decrease to be too high will not be good for the game's balance. Even if you use two perk slots. I would say a cap of 30% would be fine. If it gets too high, it won't be fun to go against at all, and all killers will have to do at that point is brun through all pallets because they have enough time to do so.

I mean sure, there can also be a cap for the increased action speed.

  • @MemberBerry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/666278#Comment_666278

Correction, a lot of KILLER/KILLER PERK values get tweaked to make sure survivors have fun bullying them.

That's just a load of BS. Killers have received many buffs within the last year. They don't tweak them to let them get bullied. Killers aren't that weak anymore.

  • @Seanzu said:

    "biggest game breaking bugs"

Yea, so when survivors have things changed for them it's just a bug fix, when killers have something changed ITS A MEGA BIG SUPER BAD NERF :'(

I did say "It's like you've been ignoring the last year and a half of survivor nerfs" so yea, no duh I posted the last year of significant nerfs.

Did you know infinites USED to exist and killers STILL 4Kd? You have it so easy now and still struggle, it's comical.

Killers don't have it easy now, the game is just much better balanced now. Playing killer can still be very challenging, just as challenging as survivor.

  • @ShyN3ko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/666857#Comment_666857

    How is this perk fine?

    You only can get 6 hooks * 3% = 18% for 3 survivor

And 1 survivor isnt affected and get a 33% buff.

    Dying Light < Thanaphobia

That's why I said it would be nice to have hooking the obsession also grant you a stack. I'm also not against increasing the percantage of action speed decrease to 4%, but only if there is a cap of how much you can decrease acion speed of survivors. Otherwise, Using both Thana and Dying Light, especially on Plague would be too much. Or Freddy, who also has addons that slow down the game even more. If you have the ability to slow down the game too much, at some point all you have to do is burn through all pallets and then survivors are pretty much screwed.

  • I think it's fine, once the obsession is dead, the perk most likely already did some nice work for you. The only thing I would love to see is that you also get a stack for hooking your obsession. But 3% seems fine. I'm down for 4% as well, but only if it doesn't stack with other perks or addons, or if the devs add some cap for how much action speed of survivors can be decreased.

  • I'm happy with the new perk changes, Dying Light and Left Behind now look like they are worth a perk slot, which is so great.

Also happy they buffed Camarderie and Second Wind, but it really is a shame that they nerfed Surge and Cruel Confinement. I really hope they buff them back. I want the new killer perks to be good as well.

I agree though that it would be very bad if pallets became safer than they already are, if that really is a consequence of the Dedicated Servers. Pretty sure though the devs will be able to balance that out in some other way so that that stays the same as it is now.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

DS is not just an anti-tunneling perk, though.

Why does it need to be a 100% anti tunnel perk and absolutely nothing else? If it helps in those rare occasions where you don't get tunneled by the killer, so be it. The killer at that points is having a lot of map pressure anyways already. And there is always the counterplay of just slugging the survivor longer.

  • @Pulsar said:

This perk is way too good. Killer doesn't even need to be near for it activate

If the killer isn't near the hook, the perk pretty much becomes meaningless anyways, it wouldn't make any difference if the hook timer would be paused for 14 seconds or 34 seconds.

  • @Marcus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/666263#Comment_666263

Surge and Cruel Limits have their range at 24 meters at tier 3.

Wait, Cruel got nerfed as well to 24 meters? Lol, that perk already looked like it would be very situational. Definitely not going to use that perk.

Hopefully they'll get buffed again, I want more perk variety.

  • Wow, really? The only new killer perk was looking forward to, how sad really. 24 meters does feel like it will do nothing a bit too often to be a viable perk. 32 meters didn't sound op to me honestly. Wish they would have just tried this perk in the ptb before nerfing it.

At least we've got the Dying Light Rework.

  • This perk now actually sounds like it's worth a pick to be honest. Sounds good to me.

  • @Liruliniel said:

Honestly I can't think of a good counter to camping as the killers who do it generally just dont care. I honestly hate people who do it. Low ranks I fully understand as people haven't yet started the journey as a killer, but I would like a solution other then reduced emblem.

The progression bar cant stop if killer is x meters near simply because good survivors will loop the killer within x meters.

Well that's why the progress bar should go back to normal whenever a survivors is also within x meters or if the killer is within a chase.

  • @chieftaco said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/665150#Comment_665150

i believe my underlying point is people are too focused on "camping" being a bad thing to realize that it's not a bad thing at all.. it's a good thing.. not because the other survivors can rush objectives and leave, but because it gives newer players an easy target to practice a skill that people don't even like to acknowledge exists.

practicing and getting experience breaking a camp ultimately lends to a skill that actually makes you a much better player. instead of putting the idea into newer players heads that something needs to be "nerfed", you should be putting the idea into their heads that it's really easy to just gain the skill that counters it..

You've got a valid point, but I still feel like instead of learning how to counter it, new players will just be frustrated and leave. They won't want to learn that skill because they aren't enjoying the game. That's my fear.

Who knows, maybe I am underestemating new players in that regard, but with all the complaints there are about camping, I feel like they just will not want to put up with that.

  • @prayer_survivor said:

Camper is an ok strategy, as infinite loops were . You can counter campers doing gens, and you could counter infinite loops stopping the chase. Campers get low amount of bps and Depip. People who run infinite loops didn’t do gens or anything else, so low bp and depip

To be fair, killers are getting thee infinite loops removed with the upcoming map reworks. At least that's what the devs said, and I really hope they do so, because they as well are bad design, and top of that not good for the game's balance.
