  • He is................ Please play a killer before you decide how they work, thanks.

But doesn't the stress come from your own expectations and win conditions.?

It's wanting that 4k, every game, then failing to get it that brings on a stress reaction.

If we all could really accept any result and enjoy just playing, wouldn't that make the game less stressful?

There is a difference between your skill as a player determining the outcome of a match and forced mechanics and balance decisions to ensure you will lose no matter how good you are.

direct opinion on why whatever the subject is needs to be focused on without rants about the devs, survivor/killer players or whatever else. i think you see a lot more posts along the lines of "[Thing] is bad and so are the people who use it!" rather than "[Thing] is unbalanced/weak/etc. and I think it needs to be changed". discussion here is usually more inflammatory than productive, although i'm not exactly helping that a lot of the time

Plenty of posts structured like that. The problem is the person behind it has 20 hours and thinks Artist needs to be 110% with a 3 second cooldown before they can use their attack because "i can't loop the artist and here is why"

It's not just endgame chat though, I just get insulted for playing and winning games as a killer in general, I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong, I don't tunnel, facecamp, or cheat in anyway, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

you didn't do anything wrong, its just the type of people this game attracts after whatever streamer they watch encourages that behaviour.

That's where I'm at with it. I'm fine with people using whatever tactics to win, so long as they aren't dicks while they do it. Tunnel me out, sure, but why hit me on the hook?

I hit people on the hook to stop the annoying screams of some survivors.

honestly it's actually been really useful in solo so far. not running into deadzones through sheer terrible luck and even worse teammates does wonders for your self-esteem and chase ability.

Makes you cry when you see shack pallet instantly used at the start of the game by a healthy survivor though.

  • You clearly have the ability to read so how and why do you still think grades have anything to do with rank?

    in SBMM Comment by Zozzy
  • Nope. They are just torturing people at the higher mmr. you may have run into some as they played their fresh EPIC accounts.

  • You are restricted to a 90 degree flick on console while pc oni's cheat and bypass it.

Oni is a "fair" killer meaning he relies on survivors being stupid to win. If they use boons and heal quickly while making it difficult for you to get your first hit, you probably won't win. He does have good snowball potential, but again it is down to survivors to let you get it.

Saying he was roughtly were they wanted him was simply to acknowledge the ludicrous notion that people used to spout that he was the most balanced killer in the game. You know the killer who had complete map control, an instadown, really good addons, decent default perks and barely any kind of cooldown. That apparently was balanced. How could new killers compete without having the same?

The cooldown brought him into line with other killers. They did over-nerf his addons though.

His movement is jank, his fov is jank, his animations are jank and his audio is annoying and ear piercing.

They destroyed him in so many ways.

  • Looks like it. They pulled the old Pretend to do something until the controversy dies down and then hope people forget.

  • Teleport is pointless if you are a slave to windows and pallets.

Stealth is pointless with perks and SWF that counter it.

The dev s have dug a hole and they can't get out of it unless they change things.

  • @Tiufal said:

Can you guys stop telling others that camping and tunneling are needed to play the game as killer? Thats soo far away from the truth and every second thread someone is shouting out this nonsense. Neither of this is necessary to have a good game as killer. Its so damn frustrating to see new players acknowledging as a given and playing like jerks. As survivor there is nothing more frustrating than having to play against people like that. Its a damn game, so behave like that and dont make it even worse with your nonsense.

Then stop asking for killer nerfs.

Anyone who is at decent ranks knows at some point you need to tunnel or camp someone if you want to have even a slight chance at winning. There is a point where it stops being outplayed and just boils down to raw numbers where the killer automatically loses.

You can't go for 16 hooks and share hook states between survivors if they are decent.

  • Nah.. keep some convoluted check system in for no reason at all instead of just a simple timer forcing the game to end no matter what.

  • @Bwsted said:

I can't really watch the video right now. If anyone can post a tl;dw it'd be much appreciated.

For the rest, I think removing hook grabs and interrupts would probably solve 90% of the facecamping issue. If unhooks worked like fast vaults at windows (i.e. no channeling the action, they don't allow grabs and once the action is queued up it cannot be reset), then killers could still easily get the 1 for 1, but not free pressure by threatening the 2 for none or simply stalling the save.

It would be very much in line with what they said about nerfing facecamping but not proxy'ing.

Leatherface would still pose a problem, because he won't be able to stop the unhook anymore, but he can shred through BT. That would have to be addressed on the killer specifically.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2718487#Comment_2718487

OP is far from being a survivor main. They've been on the forum for quite some time and they've very much advocated for killer buffs for just about everything. This is actually the first subject I can remember where I see them taking the survivor side.

I am all for removing camping. But only if they fix the underlying cause and reason it happens. Do you really think people enjoy standing at a hook on killer?

You can't go for 12 hooks in the current state of the game. The survivors objective is unrealistically simple and fast in comparison to the killers vs the resources available.

Of course he doesn't, he thinks that getting a 2k consistently with Leatherface is a problem.

To be fair i would like camping gone. Its just op is all about the Yeah! Punish the killer they got it way to easy! bandwagon and don't mention or acknowledge the reason camping is a thing and why people feel forced to play like that.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2717857#Comment_2717857

I think there's a similar problem shared between survivors and killers in that the most effective strategy is the one with the least interaction possible.

For killers, this is in tunnelling and camping. But an under-recognised problem with generators is the co-op penalty. -15% repair speed per other survivor on the same gen accomplishes something it really shouldn't: It makes the safest way to do gens the fastest one.

A killer can only pressure one gen at a time, so having all survivors split up on separate gens makes their job significantly harder. But that is just flat-out the best way because it rewards the most progress per second for survivors.

The co-op penalty needs to be changed from -15% per survivor to +15% if there's more than one survivor on a gen, in addition to changing base gen time from 80 to 110. That way, a pair working on a gen is, IIRC, .3 seconds slower than under the current circumstances. This creates a dynamic choice for survivors: Do we spread out and take it slow, but safe, or do we bundle up and risk the killer disrupting us really badly if they find us?

This'd make pressuring gens much more manageable and would make downing and hooking a survivor put a bigger dent in survivor progress. There would need to be some other adjustments, of course, notably Prove Thyself and Discordance, but I think it's an overall workable solution to give killers more breathing room.

No thanks. 2 manning gens already destroys the late game.

  • Do you ever play killer? I find it so hard to believe you do beyond a random farm match for a daily where you let everyone live...

  • People view this game as a 1v1 instead of a 1v4. Once they die they leave and ignore the overall results of the game partly because they are self centred and it is all about me me me. The other is because a gigantic portion don't play killer beyond dailies and farming challenges so they don't understand the other side to the game.

I am really trying to play survivor right now and it can be frustrating in solo q. But that is only because games take so long to find that it hits harder when you get placed on a team that goes down to a bubba at 5 gens leaving you standing there wondering what you did to deserve them for team mates.

They won't ever penalize or debuff SWF, nor limit perks. They've made it very clear they don't want to punish anyone, and wish players to run whatever they like. So no tournament-level sanctions are coming.

I also see no realistic way of enforcing anything when it comes to comms, especially on the consoles, which together make up the majority of the playerbase. Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats in any way, so Xbox is untouchable. I'm not sure for Sony but I imagine it's similar, can't speak for Discord.

Imo if we actually want our suggestions to be considered, we have to frame them with all that in mind. That only leaves getting solos the tools to make coordination & some kind of communication possible, and then rebalance the killers around that. Exactly how to do all that should be the real debate.

Correction. They don't want to punish survivors any more. killers don't matter as we can see by them attempting to stop camping.

Spirit became harder and people didn't want to adapt to that. It's easier to complain about how its somehow unfair that she was nerfed than pick her up and learn how to play her.

She didn't become harder. They just made it take less skill for the survivors. Dumbed it down for them if you will because this community thinks a mind game needs visual and physical feedback with a guaranteed way to counter it.

Again i didn't like spirit and don't care that she is seen 1/300 games now. but my god people need to stop saying she takes more skill and trying to hide the fact they dumbed her down for the survivors.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Camping the pallet comes with its own risks now if the Spirit actually knows what they're doing and fakes with the audio on the short side until you drop the pallet. Then it's pretty much a guaranteed hit because they have the speed burst out of phase while you're animation locked. It's kind of like how most solo teammates aren't great. Most killers....aren't great.

Lucky for me the map reworks removed most short side pallets and replaced them with safe tiles. She isn't that fast without using a specific addon.

  • Stop turning your brain off and listen for his lullaby. You get a 40m warning that he is coming for you DON'T IGNORE IT and think you can just W hold him and drop a pallet.

This is why i ignore lower ranks and pretend they don't exist when talking balance.

  • Went against my first spirit last week and all i did was stand at a pallet and stun her until she gave up... I don't get where this "takes more skill" argument comes from because the way people play spirit hasn't changed.. They still attempt to predict where i am running and meet me there. The problem is that i know exactly where she is so it doesn't matter. It is actually easier to track her in haunting then if she tries to mindgame out of it.

Even if they fake one side and go around it doesn't matter because i can hear it.

Yeah, the ######### solution isn't "give me back the cheesy and unfun tactic that carried me in place of actual aim and skill."

The solution is; buff his TR, buff his movement speed, buff his reload speed decrease, do any number of things than give him back something that made him actually unfun.

Because your ability to aim being garbage isn't a killer problem, that's a you problem.

You realise you had to aim previously right? From the way you are talking about his power you just think the killer presses a button and it magically attaches to the survivor 🤔

  • @Rezblaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2713764#Comment_2713764

Yeah, we know you're a DS main.

That's why we're disregarding you. You literally are choosing to ######### about this because you lose the one-trick-pony you had that got you to this point, and you refuse to get better.

Slinger was always mediocre anyway, so the fact that you NEED that quickshot shows me that you need more time on the killer.

Maybe you'll actually learn to aim in another year, who knows.

So you admit that slinger was bad before the nerf and now that he has lost the only thing he had he is even worse. Glad we are on the same page. No idea why you think more playtime can fix his lack of anything good or fun but you do you i guess.

  • True.. I got angry at mcleans reaction to the billy changes in junds patch 7.0 vid. "Let killers be different" is his response to the changes people want and he can't fathom why people want overheat removed because it hardly comes into play.. Perhaps its because it feels bad. Maybe people want the roar gone because its stupid and annoying, maybe people want the old fov and animations back because it looks horrible and is annoying to play with the new ones.

nah..... How it feels doesn't matter. As long as survivors can have a giggle at billys roar 1 in 300 games they want to keep it in.

  • Was a youtube video revealing everything about the cheats and what they do. The reason we need to fill out a report forn with video evidence is because the EAC they purchased only has records of the end game chat while the newer one has game logs etc.

  • We know. Apparently mclean said it was something they argued about in the dev team. Whoever thought it was a good idea really needs to go work on something else because they clearly can't handle this game.

  • Didn't someone reveal that they are still on the original EAC and have not upgraded it since?

  • The most annoying thing a teammate can do is nothing. If they do nothing then how are you going to win?

  • I can vouch for weird things going on.

I tanked my mmr but only to a level where i can still lose or win with a healthy amount of hooks. I took a small break and logged on to play today only to find myself with a (so far) 100% 4k win rate and the survivors are just god awful.

Looks like i tanked my mmr lower than i thought and with all the new squishies in the game it can match me correctly. That or they fiddled with the soft caps.

Oh well... makes getting challenged done quick and easy.

  • Its a bug.. His punch is global since the artist release.

Do the people above just never play against him or something?

  • Waiting for the usual white knights to come and defend this saying it totally is not based on the survivor client and is totally based on who sent the message to the server first.

Killers can only react on the information they are given and they are now being fed false information. While survivors have always had the option to use a perk or resource early and make decisions based on the killers ping to avoid hits.

  • @buzzaman said:

If only this was true :(

Survivors throw entire games just to save someone.

    He's weird.

His kit is just too difficult for new players to deal with, but he's rough in higher MMRs. Too much of his strength came from addons, but most of them got destroyed.

I still play him a fair bit and while he struggles now, I still do okay. A few tricks:

    • Aim the chain portal on top of the survivor you want to hit, and send your chain at their feet. This hits far more often.
    • He's really bad indoors. Pray you don't get sent to The Game - in my opinion this is one of his worst maps.
    • He can break his own chains (which is daft), so try to move between them.
    • Remember that the box will always spawn far from you and survivors. If you find the box, that's huge and gives you a ton of free pressure.
    • Engineer's Fang+Original Pain is ridiculously good. These two addons...I don't think I've ever gotten less than a 2k using them.

Why bother playing a deleted character? Play something fun that has not been nerfed yet but probably will in future.

Also, Tru3 is not that good. He makes a lot of mistakes, but it was covered up by the previous skittles-matchmaking system. Now that he actually plays against people closer to his level, he has bad games about half the time. Which is exactly what should happen.

And he was playing a weaker killer, Legion. Not every killer has the same kill potential as Nurse, thank god.

No comment on how busted that setup is?

  • Depends on map and killer

Spirit against an iron will squad with Shadow step may as well afk in a corner.

Shadow step on indoor maps against nurse will cause so much time waste that it isn't funny.

    Look in the mirror.

The game is getting horrible to play at good ranks and the boons removed entire playstyles. while the map updates made them more survivor sided in many cases.

  • @BreadTube said:

No offense to tru3 but he complains too much to give him much merit anymore. Most other killers that aren't treating this game like a diamond match on OW don't think survs have too much power.

What is the point in playing a game that has a physical and forced limit to your skill? The man wants to show what he can do but the developers are trying to force a 2k average no matter if you are good or not.

You can see it when he plays survivor and just messes around while escaping 90% of the time.

  • How often do you die?

  • Welcome to mmr hell. You can't escape this place without a SWf group because people just don't do generators and forever send you into the spiral of doom.

It doesn't matter if you can run the killer for 10 seconds or 10 minutes if nobody touches generators. The hatch is worthless and 9 times out of 10 the doors spawn within sight of each other so good luck escaping.

This is the problem with having door escapes as the only metric of skill in a game that requires the team to do more than stand in a corner and pick their nose.

  • To all the people saying "its because she is new" Please explain the mystical depth of her power beyond placing one crow and hoping the survivor just holds W in a straight line and steady pace so you can time the shot while they are out of sight.

Nobody should be getting crow hits out in the open beyond ranks with 20 hour survivors.

I think maybe the devs either underestimated how easy it is for survivors to run to a Circle of Healing spot to healing or overestimated how easy it is for killers to snuff that Boon out to keep it in check.

They don't know anything about their own game. You need to actually play it to understand it or hire someone who does. All they know is numbers proven when they said freddy was overperforming. "we don't know why but he is" and then proceeded to nerf everything because they were clueless and couldn't figure it out.
