Just make it reward each of the hooks instead of the 4th one with a smaller reward that builds up and incentivizes completing it by making it easier, I'm not gonna word it very specifically but here's just a rough idea
1st unique hook blocks gens for 15 seconds and reveals the auras of all survivors who haven't been hooked for 5 seconds
2nd unique hook blocks gens for 20 seconds and reveals the auras of all survivors who haven't been hooked for 5 seconds
3rd unique hook blocks gens for 25 seconds and reveals the auras of all survivors who haven't been hooked for 5 seconds
4th unique hook blocks gens for 30 seconds and reveals the auras of all survivors for 5 seconds
now the effect gives some benefit for every unique hook, and helps complete itself making it a mini game / side quest ish perk
I like the idea of showing the auras specifically of survivors not yet hooked.

It is a bad perk for one main reason that no other perk has a problem with: requiring hooking all four survivors to even activate. We’ve all had the immersed survivor in our matches (freaking Jonah as obsession yesterday when my Rift challenge was to kill obsession, ugh. Didn’t care to slug for him, and he found hatch. Joke’s on him, I had STBFL and he guaranteed me no loss of stacks all match, lol. Anyways.). Old BBQ and NWO encourage(d) it and were/are empowered by it, but at the end of the day you still have a perk that does something if you didn’t manage to hook all four survivors at least once in the trial.
Until that portion of the perk is changed, or some other effect is added that doesn’t have that strict of an activation condition, the perk will remain bad.
In inclined to agree. My thinking was offer some benefit for each Token gained and make Grim Embrace a more solid early-to-mid game perk.
For example, every token gained blocks a generator or generators for a fraction of the full 4-token effect.
Possibly idea to add to that: once you achieve the 4-Token effect, the tokens reset, allowing potentially multiple activations in one match (though I doubt anyone would get two 4-token effects without aiming specifically for it)

Oh, really? Didn't know that. Now, let me tell you why me and other people run these two perks offten / every game. It is simple.
It makes killer more fun, enjoyable experience. I don't need to 4K or 3K or any K every match. I don't need to and I don't like to sweat to play this game in general. I just want to have fun and these perks make killer games way more enjoyable.
Showdowborn - default FOV sucks. It's too short. Some people also HAVE to run this perk since there is no option in settings. Shadowborn is technicaly a settings perk in menu. I like bigger FOV because it feels good. That's it.
Lightborn - "oh you can just hug wall, etc." yea yea, but sometimes you can't, you know? Anyway, I don't like worrying about flashlight saves, locker saves, last second swichting, SWFs, etc. I just like to chill and don't care if someone will try to blind me or just annoy me with flashlight. Again, it's not great perk, you don't need it most of your games, but I just like to chill and run it without worrying "omg what if this guy last switch?", etc.
Not every killer wants to 4K every game with 4 slowdowns you know. Also Survivors should be greatfull because these perks do nothing to you and makes the killer play with less perks = aka easier time to do gens, saves, etc. instead of some of them crying about it, "It's OP" or laughing at the killer for using this perk(s).
I just like to play killer for fun. Not for 4Ks. Thanks.
For what it's worth, especially in light of the very first response you got, I'm right there with ya as far as why I play Killer. I play it much more casually than I do survivor.
-
I'd probably put myself in 6 or 7 range in both.
Very least I try to be self-aware enough to know when I'm the one who screwed up in a chase or threw a match, which probably earns be a few points all on its own.
I've had some really good chases as survivor, I've had times where I went down instantly. And so on. I feel that places me in a section of "better than many, but as good as others".
-
I'm of a mind that the game's relative simplicity is one of its strong points. It's relatively easy to understand the basics of what to do going in. In fact, one of my roommates, who isn't a gamet, got into DBD for precisely this reason.

Thought of this a while ago as a way to reduce Bubba's face camping power.

@Jarky said:
I think this makes tunnelling less appealing for sure to a degree, and I agree with them buffing it. I still think it'll happen though, unfortunately - hitting the survivor immediately as they come off the hook is something a killer can do with a 5/10/20/80, etc. second endurance, so whilst it may make them less likely to want to, when a lot of killers weigh up a healthy survivor vs an unhooked survivor, they're both 2 hits to down and one can get removed from the game quicker. After DS got nerfed, I think killers just don't find tunnelling AS threatening anymore.
I still don't agree that this solves camping at all either. They've put it under a 'Camping and Tunelling' subheading but this unhook BT doesn't discourage camping.
Speaking for myself I often go for the "off the hook hit" if I have the opportunity. Forces them to both leave (no OTR bodyblocking) and forces them to mend (keeping them out of action that little bit longer). I'm also convinced it resulted in me getting a head pop as Pig on at least one occasion.
Pre-6.1 it also provided potential pressure through a slug.

So Wesker got some changes in the latest developer update, and on paper they are ALL BUFFS!
Yet I've serfed the comments quite a bit and see quite a handful of select people who are saying he was nerfed heavily. Their reason? His ridiculous hurt box was reduced when using his power. If there's something else, I don't see it.
Weskers reduced hurt box makes him more precision focused, and...y'know...actually require skill. Not just aim, Yolo and win. On top of that he can injure at both pallets and windows, making them unsafe now. Oh! And they also increased his movement speed after the first bound so you properly get better value on the second bound.
How is any if that a nerf?
The devs breathed, that means killers got nerfed.

the only issue i have with coh and boons in general is that they can be placed in areas that require the killer to waste significantly more time to snuff it than normally. this is especially an issue on maps like ironworks of misery, you can have a boon covering basically all of the main building if a totem spawns in the upper area of it.
Even this is really only an issue for Circle of Healing and maybe Shadowstep for killers who favor long range aura reading like BBQ.
In any other scenario the survivors don't get use from the Boon unless the Killer is actually close by to begin with.

@Torrin said:
It doesn't say whether it does or not in the perk description if it still does.
It does not. Barbecue and Chili and We're Gonna Live Forever had their point bonuses removed. They were, for all intents and purposes, replaced by he matchmaking incentives that give X% more Bloodpoints to anyone who plays the role that needs more players in it. Those incentives are currently disabled due to not working properly but are, last I heard, scheduled to be re-enabled when next Chapter drops.

Thanks for replying :)
Makes sense, but these are just aura perks (Hunch and Bound).
Sure that they can help, but I was thinking about ones that double BP earned like Prove Thyself does.
The video also includes an explanation of each category and how to pip within then. Again, more Bloodpoints does not necessarily mean you'll pip, which your title suggests is your goal. Put another way, it doesn't matter if you manage to get 10,000 Survival points, if you die that Unbroken emblem will not go past Silver. By the same token, even if you got 10,000 Survival points, you won't get an Iridescent Unbroken emblem if you were downed at any point in the match.
Alternatively, you get more points for Lightbringer doing a generator solo than you do with another survivor, meaning Prove Thyself potentially works against you.
Bond is useful for keeping tabs on teammates, whether for heals (Benevolent) or gen jockeying (Lightbringer).
Similarly, Detective's Hunch helps you find generators and Totems, both of which help Lightnringer.
Iron Will can help you in chase, giving you Evader. Possibly even Unbroken if you succeed in getting away without being downed.
Borrowed Time helps get those Safe Hook Rescues, which get more Benevolence.
-
@ZamasuManzon said:
I think the easiest way would be use perks that give you more BP for certain actions, but besides Prove Thyself and No One Left Behind I don't know any other perk that does that.
Any ideas?
I feel it should be noted that BP =/= Pips
Right around the time Ranks became Grades SpookyLoopz put out a video with build to help with pipping up:
Bond, Borrowed Time, Detective's Hunch, and Iron Will.
Iron Will is less powerful now, but the build doesn't include an Exhaustion perk so may still be valid. Probably have some flexibility where Borrowed Time is concerned now, too.
Item was a tool box with speed addons to try and get a gen done solo for Lightbringer points.
-
Among the basekit Killers, I'd argue Hillbilly for Tinkerer and Enduring, both solid and reliable perks, or Wraith for Bloodhound (a solid "training" perk given how it lights up and prolongs blood on the ground).
Assuming any Killer at all, my first thought goes to Pinhead. All 3 of his perks offer a pretty good benefit that most any other Killer can make use of.
-
The update to Endurance also gave Legion an indirect boost, since Endurance doesn't work for Deep Wounded Survivors and Legion is one of two Killers, along with Deathslinger, who have Deep Wound as part of their basekit.
-
Were they console? As noted ^^, DBD just got added to play for free on Playstation Plus.

I don't think so. I believe it works anytime that Survivor is put in a Scourge Hook, so twice per survivor, tops.

@OrangeBear said:
Scratch marks. Pools of blood. Grunts of pain, disturbed crows, game sense. There's plenty of ways to find survivors without perks or add-ons.
Also in the very beginning of a match, your can potentially locate Survivors quickly by being aware of and taking advantage of one key bit of information: Survivors do not spawn within a 3 tile radius of the Killer.
Combine that with a bit of map sense and your can reliably guess where Survivors are likely to spawn in

Wouldn't mind facing more Demogorgon's. It doesn't matter how scummy they play, I can't get mad at them because it's Demo.
And if they aren't scummy, it's always fun to be chased by Demo. Relaxing chase music, fun to dodge power, interaction with Portals. It's quite interactive.
I know Demo's a popular one so I may take the chance to practice with him. I generally make an effort not to play scummy, at least in the sense I don't actively face camp or tunnel. A little proxy camping or slugging for pressure if they seem warranted sure, but I don't think too many people will object there. Generally I try to Golden Rule it and avoid playing in a way I wouldn't want to be played against. Case in point, I played a Sadako game a bit ago and had either an AFK or a one-down wuss, either way they DC'd at first hook, so I went easy and allowed the escape after getitng everyone 2-hooked. At the same time, I saw 2 flashlights in the lobby so you better believe I armed myself with Lightborn and was glad I did.

Keys aren't worth taking into the match, unless you're doing the Rift challenges to „Deplete X Keys“.
I've been suggesting a rework, so they'll allow you to instantly open a chest while certain add-ons would guarantee you what type of an item it will be, including its rarity, its add-ons, and the rarity of those add-ons.
However, it seems like BHVR isn't interested in such a change.
An idea I had, albeit not directly linked to keys themselves, was add a feature to Clairvoyance where (a) it works while carrying a key and (b) benefits from any aura reading addons on that key.
I was mostly thinking of a way to buff/play with Clairvoyance, but it could be a way to make keys a bit more worthwhile, too.
-
I don't have a specific killer that I sweat with. I tend to play killers I don't use often (Deathslinger, Oni, and so on) more seriously, so a blanket "killers I use infrequently" would be my answer.
My goof-around killer is definitely Freddy. I arm him with Terror Radius perks them go see how often I can trigger Infectious Fright.

Is it considered tunneling if all 4 survivors where exact same outfit?or even if there are just 2 the exact same? Its happened twice today all 4 the same.I didn’t bother trying to tell which is which I just hit and hooked.
Honestly if multiple survivors are dressed alike I won't hold it against a killer who can't identify one over the other without paying very close attention to their HUD.
-
That's how I've always defined it: chasing a single survivor to the active exclusion of others, especially if it's right after they've been unhooked.
For me it's less about bloodpoint gain or loss and more than tunneling is the single most frustrating thing that I absolutely hate running into when I play Survivor.
-
It probably wouldn't be as bad if the BP booster they implemented in the perks' place had worked as intended.
-
I think most people regards the terror radius thing as the buff. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse at its intended purpose (detecting a killer close by regardless of stealth) but I get the impression it's considered a buff since you can't look away against it.

So from the aggregate site I follow it looks like Pig is doing much, much better after the patch, she’s the top killer on the site at 69% kill rate over the last two weeks compared to typically a little over 50% prior periods. (And coincidentally I played Pig last night and got a solid 4k but that’s obviously not statistically relevant, it was fun though! 🙂)
Anyway I’m trying to figure out why Pig may have benefited so much from the midchapter rework and I’m drawing a blank. Yeah she gets the extra 10 second gen times and faster recovery speeds and weaker Dead Hard and such, but that’s true for all the killers and their kill rates only went up about 6-7% on average, not 15-20%.
Maybe it has to do with her innate slowdown plus the extra 10 seconds being better than the sum of their parts? I haven’t quite got a handle on it yet. (It could hypothetically be coincidence too, the site has thousands of matches per week but maybe Pig was just in vogue with high skill players the last couple of weeks for some reason?)
I can't claim it to be a factor, but I played a Pig game where I realized after the fact that smacking a Survivor fresh off the hook might have gotten me a head pop due to that survivor not being able to both mend and get the trap off in time.
Maybe some Pig players picked up on that and are using it as an actual strategy? I was using Ruleset No. 2 and Face Mask, I can imagine someone using tempered timer or similar.
-
Or maybe one of each followed by a third that can be done by either like some of the Rift challenges

Do you guys still have a lot of flans left over from the event? About how many? And which role
I have a bunch on my Killers. In fact it's why I opted not to prestige them in the leadup to 6.1. They were high enough to be at least P1 in any case. I had some on my Survivors, too, but was less concerned there so I prestiged everyone except my main and Steve and Nancy.
-
Didn't they take/keep the scream out of Pain Resonance? It still interrupts you but you no longer scream so the perk itself doesn't offer notification.
-
I'd be concerned about accuracy of current counts since I've heard there are players actively looking themselves to artificially inflate the kill rates, thinking the devs will revert the 6.1 changes if they get too high.
-
Because "Hook-Up" was taken.
-
In exchange you get the 3 perks on everyones' bloodwebs immediately, which saves some Bloodweb Gambling. From there the choice to continue to Prestige or simply upgrade the character(s) you care about is up to the player.

If I'm not mistaken, the entire point of the name Conspicuous Action is so they wouldn't have to do that.

It's like what I'm saying completely goes over your head, I'm saying why would the bp I spent be irrelevant, why wouldn't i just be awarded the prestige for the killers I sunk the effort into.
Because that's not how they decided to do it.
Plus, you were awarded the prestige for Killers you sunk effort into. If you sunk enough effort into them that you had whatever-the-number-of-perk-tiers-required-was, you got rewarded.
-
@Dubby said:
So I never prestiged any of my killers and would only grind them at the final bloodweb. Before the update I was playing a lot of pinhead and during the anniversary i racked up a ton of bp and spent a ton of it only on his bw. After the update the prestige level for my pinhead was 1. I knew that I put in far more bp for pinhead so i literally calculated it by adding up all the cost of the perks, addons and offerings and it came up to around 9 million bloodpoints, not counting the addons and offerings I've already used. Is this for real, they don't track how much bp goes into your killers or survivors? They can't tell how many bp went into a killer or survivor? What a scam...
The amount of bloodpoints you spent on a given character is irrelevant. How much prestige you got post-6.0 was based on how tiers worth of perks you unlocked and whether or not you'd Prestiged at all beforehand. If you only unlocked so many perks/tiers and never prestiged, you were never going to go too far in Prestiges.
Upside, any teachables you unlocked remain unlocked, and are now given to every character you own (if they didn't already have them) in Tier 1 and will appear in bloodwebs in Tier 2, minimum.
-
@Pulsar said:

Your Prestige is working as intended. There is no issue there.
The perks should not have re-locked themselves. Bring it up with support, nobody here can do anything for you
In this scenario, while they do appear locked, they still show up in bloodwebs as purchasable and in inventories as tier 1 if a given character didn't already have them higher.
As an example, I have the game on PS4, but have barely touched it since Crossplay came out. I didn't have many teachables unlocked but among those I did was the Nightmare, at level 48. His perks are locked when I look at his bloodweb, but show up in yellow on characters I know didn't have them (most I did prior to update was level killers to 15 so they'd have 4 perk slots). The one killer I've leveled since the update, Pinhead, has Blood Warden at Tier 3, Fire Up at Tier 2, and Remember Me at Tier 1. I will concede, however, that I can't remember if I got any of those upgrades prior to the update or after, but since Pinhead is the only character I significantly leveled after if I'd gotten them after on anyone, it'd be him. Even if I'm mistaken about the timing of the upgrades, I still had the perks on him, along with any Shrine of Secrets purchases I had, such as Hex: Ruin.
Additionally, on PC, I only built up my Killers pre-update high enough to be P1 since I didn't wanna lose their cakes I'd built up on them. This put them all at P1, Lvl 50 (give or take a few I'd leveled more) after the update. In the process of building them to P2, and a bit of leveling I've done since, unlocked perks show up in higher tiers for upgrades. Additionally, the Stranger Things perks appear on my characters who didn't already them them in Tier 1, which I presume is because I unlocked them as teachables prior to the update.
@TragicSolitude said:
I had Ash P2 lvl 50 (which is basically P3 - minus 1 click of a button!!)
Yes, but that "1 click of a button" would have cleaned out all of the items, offerings, and add-ons in Ash's inventory. The game did not consider P2 lvl 50 to be basically the same as P3, nor should it have, because going to P3 would reset the character.
The Prestige levels rewarded after the update were based on both the amount spent and the amount sacrificed. While I understand your frustration, your statement here minimizes an important aspect of the way prestige worked before the update. Before the update, going up a prestige level meant sacrificing 1.7 million Bloodpoints, possibly including event items/add-ons/offerings or retired offerings. Prestige being "1 click of a button" is more applicable to the way it works today, where you just spend 20k Bloodpoints and lose nothing.
I hadn't thought of it in those terms but "based on the amount spent and sacrificed" is a good way of putting it.

No it's not. It's nitpicking and trying to 'catch people out on a technicality'.
They didn't introduce the MMI as a replacement for BBQ/WGLF. The fact that one increases BP gained while the other reduces BP gained doesn't mean they were planned in tandem, they don't fulfil the same role, one was an incentive to run certain perks, the other is an incentive to play a certain role, they just happen to have occurred in the same patch. That's literally all Mandy has said.
Accusing people of 'gaslighting' when they're stating their intentions is toxic, and ironically gaslighting itself.
The Matchmaking Incentives may not have been planned as replacements to Barbecue & Chili and We're Gonna Live Forever, but that's nonetheless exactly what they are, by simple virtue of the fact that one method of reliably gaining additional bloodpoints was disabled the very same day a new method of reliably gaining bloodpoints was implemented.
That's why I take issue with Mandy's claim that one isn't a replacement for the other. The way they went about it makes them so whether the devs meant for it or not.

IMHO, the most ridiculous way to use it, by far, is to do it on Nurse with Spasmodic Breath. Nobody expects a lawnmowing Nurse. Just don't use Starstruck in the free slot or they'll run away and you'll never have an occasion to use it properly.
I find that sort of build must fun on Nemesis, myself. Rapid fire punching is hilarious.

Gonna update this thread to toss in an idea I came up with, though I'm not quite sure yet how best to pull it off:

I didn’t care for the “reward” so I didn’t bother to prestige a lot of characters. If they had announced this when the first told us about the prestige change I would have done it.
Yeah. I consider that to be the part I'd most understand someone missing since it was relatively last minute. Other than that BHVR did what they were supposed to do and notified their players ahead of time of what was coming via streams and news on both their site and here.

"hey your car was broken into they picked the lock... now that how they broke in was explained to you that makes it ok" does that seem logical? ofc not as doesn't the new systems conversion. it was 100% a set-up to rob millions of bps worth of prestige.
Everyone was told. You just didn't see. It's more ignoring the news alerting everyone is a string of car break-ins and then being surprised your car was broken into.

There's nothing complicated about tripling everyone pre-patch but to Revert my ENTIRE account like they did because of 1 button click? take perks away? it's a big giant (insert word here) you!
Because it was based on how many tiers' worth of perks you'd unlocked (if you never prestiged prior) and and/or whether or not you actually prestiged beforehand.

Perks aside.. (which all my p1's lost) My Characters Should've been converted to P2 lvl 47 allowing me to prestige 3 and have EVERYTHING I had already bought and grinded for.
Except that is not how it works, has not at any point been how it works, and I know you know that because it's been explained to you.

for the last six years the devs have managed to screw up everything they've implemented. is this really a surprise?
No, but in this specific case it's still not clear if it's even a Thing or misunderstanding how the changes of the update worked.
If Sparks leveled a character only enough to unlock their teachables, and did not level them to have enough unlocked tiers to be P1 or higher upon update, then the perks appearing locked is expected and that's misunderstanding the changes.
If the above is true and any or all of those perks aren't appearing in inventories that doesn't have them previously, or not appearing in bloodwebs when leveling, or if they had perks unlocked that then proceeded to vanish from inventories that previously had them or randomly downgrade from tier 3 to tier 1, or similar, that would be on BHVR.
