    Devour Hope.

Especially when you do it my way: The "Don't do anything to protect it, and hope it's pretty well hidden" tactic.

Just play as usual, but do leave the 24-meter range when hooking someone of course.

Then, all of a sudden, you're 1-hitting people.

And while they're searching for Totems, you might even hit 5 Tokens and kill all over the place.

    Why do i say it's a game-changing Perk?

It's cause this Perk is truly powerful once it gets to 3 Tokens.

At that point, just playing normally by doing Generators and unhooking + healing Survivors won't cut it, the Killer will keep chaining 1-hit downs.

    You NEED that Totem gone.

Result? You completely change the primary objective from escaping to cleansing.

Yeah yeah, i know: Totems are easily noticed and old maps have some terrible spawn points.

But for the sake of the thread, i leave out the negatives.

This reminds me of a game I've had a long time ago. Me, a friend and two random survivors played on Haddonfield against a Pig. Everything was going well. We only had like 2 gens to do and nobody was dead when suddenly that exposed icon popped up and changed everything.

We were desperately looking for that totem and still tried to finish the remaining gens at the same time.

At some point we only needed 1 generator but:

    - 1 survivor was hooked

    - my friend was downed

    - I was on the last gen because I knew the pig was waiting for someone to unhook the survivor (to get the last token)

And suddenly the 4th survivor went for the unhook and I immediately saw my friend getting moried and even though I managed to pop that last generator it didn't change the outcome. I got downed only seconds after popping my generator and the other two survivors were too scared to open the gate even though I was getting moried so all of us got moried eventually.

It was a fun game and simply "something else". Must have been one awesome feeling for the pig player to mori all of us especially after a long, tiring game.

Don't jump to that conclusion, i'm merely stating your idea would be a terrible addition.

I didn't think much about my idea to be honest. I posted this thread out of frustration over that particular game since it's not the first time I encountered a "killer couple".

  • @Boss said:

You can already insta-die on a hook by clicking Leave Match.

But i guess you want it to be penalty-free when doing it on the hook.

Yeah, cause that won't be abused by Survivors...

So you think I should get a double-depip, 0 bloodpoints and wasted spare time because a survivor works with his killer-friend?

  • @BACKSTABBER said:

so want a suicide feature as a pseudoDC?

People who want to dc already do dc all the time. And people who want to suicide on hook already do suicide on hook as an alternative to dc-ing so why would it matter if there was a "die instantly" sort of feature? Or let me kick away people who want to farm me off the hook so I don't get forced to kill myself on hook?

  • Insidious is a perk and camping is a tactic. An exploit is an in-game error that can be used to gain an advantage over the opponent without counterplay.

Example: using infinite dead hard, infinite mending etc.

Also insidious camping is a meme build. Using that build doesn't mean the killer is bad. Killers who use meme builds usually just want to play the game differently because they're bored of playing the game the same way over and over and over again.

I can't believe people still come up with that "you did it because you got no skills" bs.

I can play insidious Bubba and not move my ass all game and I can play the exact opposite - which is snowballing Hillbilly - who moves all game without giving you a chance to do ANYTHING. Pick your poison.

  • Most players are on PC so I doubt I played against a forum user. I'm on XBOX ONE [EU].

(i guess if we play this long enough there will be a niche player that states that whatever perk is not completly useless and claims he does use it alot)

    Haha yeah most likely.

Anyways survivors currently have 65 perks as opposed to killers (57 perks) so I guess survivors will win this one but it's interesting to see how many "near useless perks" we currently have so here's the next one:

  • @TheAngryPickle said:

Useless? You mean like Left Behind?

What are you trying to prove? Both sides have numerous perks that are close to being useless. We could even play a game. I name a useless killer perk and you react with a useless survivor perk.

    Let me start with: Unrelenting.

  • Wait wait wait... You can't go! If you get that fancy red profile picture we'll lose one of the few forum members who understands the game and its issues. Here, have some of my (useless) award winning chili which looks fancy and does nothing in-game despite being a purple addon. 😂

So it's ok for killer main posters to do it then?

Besides a little fun now and then keeps things amusing and if needed people can post at the end sarcasm etc warning.s

When did I say it was ok to post bait as a killer?

  • Aren't you getting tired of posting bait everyday?

  • Remember when I said "I don't regret buying Legion with real money"? I guess the devs were like: "hold my beer"

  • I'm more hyped for the bug fixes. Had multiple games as a giant survivor now. Couldn't see anything but my huge ass that covered the whole screen.

Jane: "I got the biggest booty"

    DBD bug: "hold my beer"

  • I hope for more original killers as it allows for more creativity. What would Ghostface's ability be anyways?

@Master_Bad_Guy That doesn't prove anything. I can post multiple games of mine where I downed multiple survivors at the same time within the first 30 seconds of the game as Leatherface. Does that mean Leatherface is op?

    https://youtu.be/6-VWpwJaB0s

    https://youtu.be/lGKxqMhnqpg

EDIT: A friend of mine also had a 4 man escape against a dedicated Hillbilly player today. They repaired all 5 gens WITHOUT CLEANSING HIS RUIN and he is a solo player like me.

The Hillbilly-player in question plays NOTHING but Hillbilly 24/7 since 2 years so you can't say he doesn't know how to play Hillbilly or lacks experience.

That's why I keep saying ALL killers need to get buffed to Hillbilly's strength. Because even then 4 strong survivors will still win.

Explain the counterplays, I think it's gonna be a funny one lol

NO COUNTERPLAY = something's inevitable regardless of circumstances.

Insta-Heals of any kind: Instahatchets, T3 Myers, Bubba, Billy, Instabottles, traps, noed, make your choice, haunted ground, devoured hope.

Keys: Killing survivors before the hatch spawns and/or Franklin's demise.

Ebony Mori (But really any mori): Not getting caught twice.

Legion's Power: Every speed exhaustion perk in the game hard (150%) counters frenzy (132%) without any effort and Legion sees no scratch marks so there's that.

    Father's Glasses: No mither+iron will.

MoM: Hatchets, Nurse, chainsaws, traps etc.

Lightburning the Wraith: Uncloaking behind objects or uncloaking while moving left and right.

  • Literally everything on this list has counterplay...

  • Yeah the grind is beyond ridiculous and it gets worse one chapter at a time. I wish the devs reduced the value of all bloodweb items by about 500 bloodpoints. Would make the grind somewhat tolerable.

    ?

I don't really get the logic behind that. Are you saying strong survivors usually play in a 4 man? I wouldn't say that is true.

I'm not saying it's a fact but more like a personal experience. I'm on XB1 which has a rather small community when it comes to red rank players. I've known most of them for over a year now. After a while I noticed I wouldn't see many former red rank players anymore until I started playing killer again. Suddenly I met all of the "veteran players" as SWF teams.

Needless to say I lost many games against those guys whereas I often have 5 gen games against solo players even if they have the same rank.

  • Strong survivors "usually" play in a SWF team which causes you to end up playing with potato survivors nobody wants to play with. #Feelssoloplayerman

Leatherface can't be buffed since it buffs his ability to camp, if he wasn't so notorious for that, he might actually get changes

Many Leatherfaces camp because Leatherface gets gen rushed easily due to the fact he can't track survivors, can't down them quickly unless they mess up allowing him to use his chainsaw and he has no map pressure as he can't go fast from point A to point B.

    - Tracking

    - Chasing

    - Map pressure

One of these factors must be buffed in order to make him viable against strong survivors. If he doesn't get buffed people will obviously end up camping with him since that's all Leatherface is good for. 😂

I’m just annoyed how common billy killers are. 90% of the time they run the same boring cookie cutter perk builds too with BBQ, Enduring, Spirit Fury & Ruin.

Easily the least exciting killer to face.

That's the result of one simple fact: All the other killers are too weak for the current game state. Good survivors can finish all 5 gens in about 4 minutes. All survivors have 3 chances to survive (unless the killer camps someone to death). That's 12 hooks in total.

How is a normal killer supposed to win against 4 "strong survivors" if he doesn't play Hillbilly who can save so much time by zooming across the map and instadowning survivors?

If all killers were to be buffed to the point that they'd be at least 80% as strong as Billy you'd see all the other killers at rank 1 evenly.

But right now it's just plain smart to play Billy. I would rather play Leatherface but he's ######### compared to Billy. Too bad survivors don't want to face any other killer.

  • Hillbilly is a wrecking ball but unlike Legion he can't nullify game mechanics and thus doesn't need a nerf. If anything all killers should get buffed to his strength. Hillbilly is strong enough to win games without tunneling and camping (if you're a good Billy) which should be the golden standard for EVERY killer the devs release.

  • Unfortunately people tend to mistake kindness for weakness.

  • Definitely a conversation about speed (Billy's chainsaw) vs strength (Leatherface's chainsaw) 😄

  • My question is related to Dead By Daylight's lore:

Benedikt Baker quote: "It (the Entity) does not seem to be dangerous in itself."

Question: How does the new end game fit the lore when the Entity itself suddenly kills survivors? What does the Entity need the killers for?

  • @ChandraZake said:

Yes .. but apparently face camping is still a thing now..cause apparently killer just sits in a corner or camp near the hooked survivor...which mAke it damn impossible for others to for the rescue..

Are all survivors supposed to be able to escape?

  • I remember when my girlfriend bought dbd for my birthday. She originally wanted to buy me friday the 13th and thought dbd was like a special version of f13 so basically I got the game by accident.

When I opened the present I was like:

"You can play as a killer and hunt down survivors? Sounds cool! Why would anybody want to play a survivor if you can be the killer, though?!"

Boy did I know little about the game at that time haha.

Anyways the very first game I played I was Wraith because I thought it would be scary as hell to run around invisible and ambush survivors out of nowhere. I remember I thought the map was a graveyard. I wonder what map I played on back then.

Anyone know what map could possibly look like a graveyard for new players?

My first game was against SWF I think. All of them played as Meg with the same clothings and all of them insulted me after the game and called me a camper. I didn't even know what camping or tunneling was back then.

I told them "relax it's my first time playing this game". That's when they stopped messaging me.

  • @ColgateAdvancedWhite said:

No rest until 4k under 3min is the balance standard

Right now the standard against good survivors is "4 gens in 3 min" but I guess that's perfectly fine right?

Hey, not only will I not give the devs any ######### about this, but I also won't give Behavior any future money for DLCs. That decision has already been made, so I guess it's a win-win.

    CUSTOMER DISPLEASED

  • Well, I got almost 3k hours in the game (played 50/50 for the most part) and recently I've been more of a sporadic player who plays a lot one day and not at all the other day. Playing killer isn't really fun at the moment because gens pop faster than ever forcing you to play lame.

Hopefully the new end game will change things up and make the game fun again.

  • @Benjamina said:

Get fudged. Legion deserved the nerfs. Between him and the hag they're the 2 killers I'm sick of versing. There are 12 killers total. Move onto another one and gitgud.

Hope you don't mind versing snowballing bbq Hillbilly all day. 😁

  • I bought Legion with real money like 1-2 months ago and spent almost 6000 shards to get Susie and millions of bloodpoints because of the stupid grind. Feelsbadman.

I guess I'll never buy any dbd dlc again.

Back to playing Hillbilly 24/7. Hopefully the survivors enjoy getting downed in 10 seconds when they see me.

  • The thread seems to be misleading. The title is about mastering a killer which includes any possible trick you can do with said killer to beat survivors but instead you talk about wether it's easy to play particular killers. That's a major difference or not. Playing isn't mastering.

Sure you can play Leatherface immediately and do ok BUT mastering him contains going through narrow places (i.e. through multiple doors [lery's], jungle gym openings, any narrow map structure) while using the chainsaw without getting stunned. Most new (and even veteran players) will bump into walls when things go quickly unless they've spent considerable time practicing Leatherface.

I even use Leatherface's chainsaw to mindgame bad pallets and certain map structures to get an instadown using the last few swings of his chainsaw as they're the fastest in movement speed which is something you need to learn before you can effectively use Leatherface.

And Hillbilly? Anybody can play him but only very few have mastered him. Mastering him contains chainsaw flicking to break loops. Most Hillbilly players use the chainsaw at point blank range to get a cheap instadown with no skills. Skilled Hillbilly players who actually mastered him use his ability to curve around any map structure turning Billy into an instadown-antilooper. Chainsaw flicking not only takes serious skills but also anticipation as you have to be aware of typical survivor movement. Sometimes I curve into certain ways because I know survivors tend to walk into path "A" or stay at pallet "B".

I will upload video samples for the described Leatherface and Hillbilly scenarios in about 30 mins so people understand what I mean.

  • Wait a second... Did you just play Nurse at Crotus Prenn by any chance? Because I've just watched Tru3 and the people were toxic towards the nurse and dropped that typical "gg ez" after the game and the Nurse player said it was his first game as Nurse or something like that.

  • It's the game. I've played a few games as survivor and got disconnected exactly when the killer hooked me for the first time. I was like ######### because the last gen had popped and I used adrenaline so obviously I wouldn't disconnect. It's a game issue since the latest updates.

  • A good team of survivors will win more often than not. Today I played survivor for the first time in like 2 months and I survived 5 out of 6 games. We had a 4 man escape 2 or 3 times and one killer (Spirit) rage quit. That's crazy considering I'm a solo player AND almost all killers had ruin+noed.

Survivors are a lot stronger than killers IF they play optimally. Granted it's rarely the case unless you play in an organized SWF team but still. Survivors have may more control in their hands than the killer.

  • I love playing Leatherface but as long as all killers are a joke compared to Hillbilly and Nurse I'll stick to playing Billy. Even a slight buff to most killers would motivate me to play someone else than Billy but survivors don't want to play against anything but Hillbilly and Nurse I reckon.

  • 1-2 minutes is actually good. My totem always pops after 40-50 seconds.

  • Honestly I kinda understand the hate for items particularly for toolboxes.

The default time for one gen and one survivor is just 80 seconds.

That is if you don't hit a great skillcheck. Most people however hit great skillchecks easily these days so most people can fix a generator in like 78(?) seconds without items.

A brown toolbox without addons reduces gen repair time to 72 seconds if I remember correctly. Most people use addons to further increase the toolbox speed and/or efficiency.

A mechanic's toolbox (green) reduces repair time to 66 seconds without addons.

If all 4 survivors bring a green toolbox WITH addons everyone can repair a gen in about 60 seconds depending on the toolbox addons and number of great skillchecks so if 1 survivor gets chased for just 1 minute the other 3 survivors can pop their gens.

1 minute chase (without ruin) = 3 generators in this scenario.

And you can still reduce the repair time even further with purple toolboxes, brand new parts and prove thyself which obviously is a lot more rare than just green toolboxes but still a possible thing.

It forces killers to play lame. You can't possibly get 12 hooks if survivors finish all gens in a few minutes no matter how good you play as killer.

  • @MojoTheFabulous said:

I love how you contradict yourself by using your image as proof and immediately following it up by saying the exact same thing but instead with Legion somehow wouldn't prove the same point.

    +1

  • Option 4 doesn't work. 2 sec charge time for head-on, no exhaustion, 3 sec stun = Killer can't get away from the locker and gets beat up all game.

  • @deathsia said:

Hillbilly isn't great at all unless you have his addons which allow you to have tremendous control over your chainsaw sprint. Anyone who tells you those addons aren't required is blowing smoke up your arse unless they don't use his chainsaw to down survivors at which point I ask:

Why are you even playing him?

Skip to 4:15 and tell us how Hillbilly needs addons for chainsaw control again:

    https://youtu.be/pFlFw8BZZXU

  • Hillbilly is not played like the other killers as in "find someone and chase till you catch them". He is designed to terrorize the whole map and quickly down those who get found in areas that provide little protection.

If someone is looping you're just wasting time unless you've mastered chainsaw flicking so just let them go if they're looping strong structures and quickly sprint to gens. I've downed so many survivors who thought I was still chasing someone else.

Hillbilly is a rather opportunistic killer who doesn't get punished for leaving a survivor so take advantage of his speed and tunnel the map.
