Well, I don't play on console, but my daughter does, as well as my brother. We've been having fun together, they haven't noticed any massive difference so far, but none of us are red ranks, either. (I almost am, but they're still green.)
The only part my brother doesn't like is when I tell him to divert power from the Switch's screen brightness to the GPU so he can get more frames for looping.
-
I had assumed a secondary function of the graphical update would be to increase visual quality and massively increase performance in one fell swoop, which is why I figure they've been quiet on the optimization front for consoles. They're rebuilding what makes the game run so poorly.
But based on everything I've experienced since I started playing this game a lot (about 1-2 months now) I uh... I wouldn't count on it, bud. But maybe! Just maybe! The Entity does feed on hope, though... Hmm.

I thought legendary skins were supposed to also have some animation changes. Like with the Cheryl one, it completely changes the character and she even has different animations in the menu. Due to that when I bought the Minotaur I was expecting a little more than just a different skin.
Remember, whatever BHVR says something is supposed to be, just always imagine a worse version, and you'll only be disappointed occasionally. They still haven't fixed his big ass head being visible as you move around, clipping and looking like some unfinished mod.

The thing is....it's just hurting yourself and teammates in the long run. I have Nvidia filters, balancers, and brightness cranked way up. Blendettes stick out like a sore thumb and often cause snowballs rather than cause me to waste time. Because when I catch stealth players in that bush, they're often so ridiculously out of position that they go down within 10 seconds. They'd have been better off at least attempting the chase.
This is way more gross to me than anything about stealth or tunneling. This kinda ######### is basically officially sanctioned cheating. Games where darkness is a major gameplay element really need a way to make it so if you just slap on filters and crank the brightness up you don't get to play baby mode.
-
My priority is generally to recover first so it doesn't take a thousand years to get me up, and then move. Generally speaking, most of the time you get slugged the killer will have no problem tracking you down without tenacity, you just move too slowly and often are in a poor area to find a hiding spot. That said if there's a nearby spot I think would make for a dramatically better place to hide I'll absolutely move there first. But if I'm out in an open field or something, I always give recovery priority.
-
You didn't blink at all? Good lord, that must've been hell. I mean it's hell even when you blink, since you're either gonna stare at the floor for 1/3rd of the match, while spending another 1/3rd waiting for your power to recharge, or it'll be hell in that you move so slow chases will be basically infinite.
Well done!

While a long-term solution involving something more involved would be nice, a short-term solution is to make it not be a bunch of random nonsense. Why is it a bunch of random nonsense to begin with? Because that's how it started? It makes no sense. Maybe for items and add-ons, I guess, it's not very satisfying but at least those aren't permanent upgrades you're looking to get.
They really should just have the market concept from the mobile game, but even that's silly. Just have a list of all the different things you can spend blood points on, and make them cost more than they currently do since you're trading luck for guaranteed progress. You could even include ultra-rare items/add-ons in there, but maybe cap how many you can buy per week or something.
There are more sensible ways for all of this. Having it be this weird luck-based nightmare is one of the most bizarre and completely pointless and counterproductive design choices DBD has.

I've only been playing a couple days and am only survivor rank 17, but it seems like Pig is the killer that consistently wipes out the survivors. What is the counter?
She's mainly just an M1 Killer. Just loop her and buy yourself a bunch of time, same as all M1 killers. She shouldn't really ever hit you with her ambush unless she's really good since it's a very poor ability. Her trap is annoying but if she puts one on you just go take it off while she's busy with someone else.
At rank 17 you're likely still not used to doing efficient loops or chaining tiles together and everything, that will come in time. Frankly at rank 17 the survivors barely touch generators and spend half the match crouched in corners because they're still scared of the killer, which is exactly what M1 killers want since they don't have any way to close distance without spending a lot of time chasing. If everyone is focused on doing gens and spreading out, it's gonna be really rough for the Pig.
-
It's a meme. The Pig kinda sucks. Comparatively she's pretty underpowered. She's not horrible or anything, but yeah, just people joking around.

What about a perk that made it so the EGC never slows down even if someone is downed/hooked?

I agree. Not that I think it would make a huge difference in many matches that even get to EGC. The timer is pretty long and it slows to a crawl if anyone is downed or hooked. There's really not as much pressure as the game would have you believe.
There are, of course, exceptions, but generally the timer ain't gonna kill anyone even if they pop the door immediately and have to go back to rescue people.

When devs defined what "aim dressing" is, they specified that it will never help a killer land a hit they shouldn't have; it can only cause killers to miss hits they should have made. There's no aim assist or auto aim, there's nothing to help killers land a hit. Huntress doesn't even get a crosshair.
They won't let killers disable it because aim dressing is there to make the animation look better. There's no gameplay benefit to it; it's just for visuals.
I believe that about as much as I believe anything else BHVR says.

Everyone else in the game suffers the same FPS that I do, so it is more fair
True, but a PC survivor on your team gives you an advantage then, right?
Also, FPS is by no means the same per every PC. Some folks might have 120+, while Jimmy on his K-Mart computer is getting 15 FPS on low. PC folks have dealt with the delta of different machine performance since online multiplayer gaming began, and things have gone alright.
Don't get me wrong, I fully agree that you get an advantage, but the gap will never be closed to the satisfaction of most.
-
Is that what they renamed auto aim to? At least give me the option to disable it. It has helped me land maybe 3 hits since I started playing and has hindered literally dozens. The worst is when it auto snaps you to a pallet or something. What kind of "dressing" turns my character 180 degrees? I want zero handicaps, and I especially don't want handicaps that others can exploit.

Its not bothering me. But FPS on Hawkins and the Game is making me less and less likely to want to enable crossplay.
Crossplay was very sloppy in implementation. They put PC players against all console players. Its not an issue of PC players being better/toxic/whatever excuse you have for being bad. Its entirely a matter of performance.
So, uhh... Have you noticed the better performance of PC players? I mean, them not being there isn't gonna give you an FPS boost.

This change would not do anything for tunneling. If this change would happen, I would probably just wait a few more seconds to trick survivors into thinking they're safe so I can safely resume tunneling? This change does not do anything for tunneling.
So you'd waste time doing literally nothing? That's perfect. That's good perk value. If a killer is that dumb and that dedicated, then the perk has served its purpose.
By the way, you'd also have to follow that survivor around, they're clearly not gonna start working on a gen 10 feet away from you, and, since the OP references ScottJund, he proposed it'd have a 30 second timer that never goes down while chasing, so the survivor could watch you following them like a lost puppy so you could "tunnel" them and keep you in chase, wasting even more precious time.
That would be insanely good perk value, and only an idiot would continue to follow the survivor. And only an idiot would sit there and wait the timer out instead of actually doing something productive. And when, if you happen to see that survivor again later on, you can be reasonably sure that they no longer have DS because they would've obviously worked on a gen or something. Or maybe they didn't and they're mind gaming you. Even better! Counterplay, mind games! The things the game is about!
I dunno man, your argument seems weaker and weaker to me the more I think about this kind of change.
-
We see here all the survivors saying that it's just because people want to "tunnel," ignoring the part where this change would completely annihilate tunneling. Ah, I'm sure it's not because the perk is super strong or anything. Nah, it's not one of the most picked perks because it's strong, it's not even that good! It's just to protect them from tunneling. Yeah, that's it. All four players are just getting so tunneled every match.
Mmhm.
-
Yeah, the matchmaking was already butt. Now it's back to being butt after, at least for me, MMR was finally starting to get actual good matches. Guess that's just how it goes.

-
Eh? Steam, like PSN and XBL, is largely decentralized. It's very rare for "Steam" as a whole to be down, although individual servers might dip here and there. Same for PSN and XBL. I searched for each, "Steam down," "XBL down" and "PSN" down and there were dozens of complaints about each ranging from a few hours ago to about 8 hours ago.
Even then, how are you going to know if it was a PC player? I guess if they're pulling sick 360s on killer that's a giveaway, but I imagine most of the time it's just them holding W to follow you. I'd imagine it's much more likely it's going to end up being someone playing on Wi-Fi that loses connection most of the time, as nearly 100% of Switch users, for example, are on Wi-Fi. Even those that aren't are using a weird USB->ethernet dongle.

A teammate healing you is exactly the same time overall than you selfcaring. Thats what 50% mean, because you can do it alone at half speed.
But you have to walk around and find someone to heal you, and hope they will do it, which spends extra time.
Time is precious, and self-care is amazing at wasting it. Especially as you creep around trying to find some lonely corner of the map where you can sit without having to worry about the killer with your thumb up your butt for over half a minute to regain a single health state. That's a potato play. I'd say on average, self-care players waste well over a minute just to undo a single hit.
Even the idea that it's the "same" because there'd be two of you out of commission if someone else healed you is also ridiculous. Time is more or less critical at different points of the game. You being there repairing a gen at a crucial moment so it actually gets completed instead of popped, you being there to unhook or heal someone else. You being there to loop or to cover for someone else who's getting chased so the gen can get finished, etc. There are many moments where your active presence is dramatically more important than you hiding and healing.
Not that there's NEVER a time where self-care wouldn't be a good play, but uhh, most of the time it's absolutely bad.
-
Because a badass last-minute save is fun. And I play the game for fun. Not just to watch my points go up.

All I know is when I have killers from others platforms (I'm ps4) suspicious stuff happens like killer is no where near in chase and suddenly you're hit, when they get run suddenly ppl get hit through walls or killer with no bbq nore any tracking perks finds you in the most random corner where the gen is done and you run iron will... Just a few situations that are fishy, seems more like hacking then skill to me
Seems more like lag than anything else. Switch users on public wi-fi. I'm on PC, had a crossplay Billy earlier lagging like crazy. He hit me twice in a row, but then I broke out of his grasp by wiggling to just 75%. He was also warping around a bit. Was very clearly a case of a very poor connection. He was also only like rank 18. He lost terribly but still got a few good downs in because of the lag.
DBD deals with lag in one of the worst ways it is possible to deal with it: By giving the lagging person an enormous advantage.
-
I think the idea of someone having to "owe" you for you to not be an ass is just a lazy excuse for asses to ass it up.
That said, clearly if you're being put into a dumb situation where some idiot is farming you, no one's actively trying to actually help you, get yourself the hell outta there. And the killer's complaint in this situation is completely absurd.
-
Because effort isn't cool if it means I lose.
Only time I actually consider people "sweaty" is if they're running a 4-man tournament death squad going as hard as possible while bringing the most obnoxious builds and items.
But those are actually really rare, most "normal" 4-man SWFs are just buds chatting over comms and trying to play well, not going 12,000% optimal. A Killer going sweaty is a little harder for me to identify since I've mostly switched over to Killer and it's hard for me to tell the difference between someone playing well and someone who's got a dehumidifier in their pants.
-
He's a little irritating to go against, but not really because he's strong. He's just good at shaking things up and interrupting what you're doing if you can't get good distance on him.

As a PS4 player with a PC that I've played other various games on, I think PC definitely has an advantage but not enough that it's all that major. Framerate is probably the biggest one if the person has a decent rig. Framerate on console with certain maps or killers is absolute garbage.
As a survivor, knowing how to loop something is a lot more important then anything else and kbm/controller should net you the same amount of loops as long as you're going smoothly. KBM can look behind them a lot quicker and do more precise movements so you can get a better idea of where you need to go faster. It's minimal but it's still there and it could definitely be the difference between a hit or not but I still think individual skill has a ton more impact.
Killer is a lot more precise with kbm but again, I don't think it's all that major. If a survivor does a perfect 360 it's easier to hit on pc but a good console killer shouldn't miss them either even though it's harder. The real big difference would be with Nurse, Huntress and Deathslinger. You can turn a lot faster with Nurse which is very important, and it's a ton easier to make precise shots with Deathslinger and Huntress. Not impossible on console but more skill is required to get to the same or near same level.
Really though, they should just allow KBM on console and be done with it. Then the only real difference would be framerate and if the game ever gets properly optimized then even that wouldn't matter.
Yup, that just need to unlock the option for console players. And then optimize the game. Basically console players are at a disadvantage right now for no reason except I guess BHVR is inept. They could and should have good performance and the option to use keyboard and mouse if they want to.

I’ve played on every platform. There is no difference. I even play on PC with a controller some games, and kb/m some games.
my guess is that people who play on Switch, if they’re courageous enough to play via crossplay, are the easiest to kill. It is extremely difficult to control on switch, the graphics are awful, they get about 20 FPS. You literally are tapping the joystick like a d pad because it’s nearly impossible to move in a smooth circle otherwise. They are very limited.
other than that, there is no difference between console and pc. Please stop feeding into this BS comparison
Okay, the "there's no difference" narrative really has to go.
Load up a killer.
Spin in a circle with a mouse and with a gamepad.
One will be faster and more accurate.
It won't be the gamepad.
There, objective difference with an objective advantage in two seconds of testing.
Jesus, guys, we don't live in a fantasy world where things are the same just because you want them to be.

Believe what you want. Theres no discernable difference in survivors from one platform to the next. You come across as someone who dropped a pretty penny on a gaming rig and desperstely wants to believe this gives you an advantage. It doesnt.
It's clear you've convinced yourself of this narrative. Oh well, that's only to your own detriment.

Nah, this is stupid. It may take more skill to use a mouse and keyboard, that doesnt mean youre better at the game. If anything using a controller as a survivor gives you more of an advantage because its easier. But IN GAME the skills are the same. The only real difference here is a nurse or huntress with keyboard/mouse. Otherwise, youre just up your own ass because you spent more miney on your rig.
You come across as a kid trying to explain why two things are equal because you want them to be, when they are clearly not. No, you cannot reach the same level of skill with a controller as you can with keyboard and mouse. It has nothing to do with you as a player. A controller can only turn so fast, can only change movement directions so fast, and those two things are critical to high level movement.
Your indignation about this fact does not change the fact. That doesn't mean you're going to lose every single game or never juke someone using a keyboard and mouse, or that everyone using a keyboard and mouse will even do better (or even as good as) you, but at the top end where every little thing matters, that gamepad will be the thing holding you back more than anything.
-
At the absolute top-end, the physical limitations of a controller vs a keyboard and mouse create a very notable difference in player capability. It's not that PC players are magically superior, it's that the control scheme and better frame rate mean they're not held back by as many artificial limitations as on a console.
For your average, run-of-the-mill match, you're probably not gonna notice much of a difference. Plenty of PC players also play with gamepads, for example. When I play survivor, about half the time I'll use a gamepad for whatever reason. Never as killer, though. Gotta be able to instantly turn.

Except for the fact that as stated over the option screen, if I turn off crossplay I can only play with other PS4 members that ALSO have C-P turned off.
My options either boil down to wait 6 hours for a lobby (already bad enough), or get bullied by unbeatable PC players.
Thanks Devs, nobody asked for mandatory crossplay.
That doesn't sound right. Theoretically you should get matched with other players who have crossplay on or off just fine, it'd just have to be a case where they weren't currently being matched with someone off-platform. At least that's how I'd assume it would work. Dunno if they specified that in their FAQ, but excluding other people on the same platform simply because they have their box unticked would make for pointlessly longer queue times when those people can easily still be roped into an all-PS4 or whichever platform game.

Xbox does not let you create a new account with a space in the name, but there was once a time when it was allowed. Anyone that created a username with a space before the creation of the rule was grandfathered in and allowed to keep their name with a space. If you see someone with a space, they're either not an xbox player, or they were an early adopter of the console series.
Didn't they change the Xbox username thing relatively recently to where you can just change it to whatever you want, whenever you want, like on Steam/Discord?

Also, as a PC player with bad aim, I literally just started leveling Huntress. Figured now would be a good time to get some practice in because I might actually land some hits and develop my aiming skills without getting absolutely stomped, partly because console gamers probably aren't used to seeing her too much and partly because of the rank reset. Have lost a few games but nothing terrible. Girl needs a reticle, though. Not trying to make anyone's life miserable, just trying to enjoy some relative relaxation for once while I learn a killer without having to sweat my balls off.

Uhh. Yeah. Dunno what person you're debating with, but unless you're using an add-on to make the Nurse move faster, you ain't hittin' anyone.

Everyone is now opened up to at least 3 other platforms. But everyone you've come across is PC somehow. What? The game doesn't tell you which platform someone is on, just that they're on a different platform. Anyway, Nurses on PC are generally pretty rare. Nurse is best on PC but being extremely good with Nurse takes a lot of practice and dealing with all the frustrations of spending large amounts of each game staring at the floor.
-
Where on Earth were you reading any of this?? I've never seen any kind of trash talk like that on these forums. At most I've seen people saying they're concerned that console players will have to go against the occasional top-tier Nurse or Huntress on PC, which by virtue of the physical limitations of controllers vs a mouse, will be vastly more deadly than anything seen on console.

Double FPS lol
DBD on Console runs at 25 FPS.
I run at 120 on PC, that's almost 10 times the FPS.
10 times? You might need to go back to first grade, bud. That's less than five times, so you're really exaggerating. It's still a big performance increase, of course, but people should be demanding that be fixed, not a matchmaking bandaid. Bad FPS will follow you into every single match forever, matching against PC players will likely rarely result in you noticing any sort of difference at all.
-
I'm fine with them adding more variety to the cast, since all survivors are the same anyway. But there's something just really ######### creepy and... bizarre about pulling real-world population breakdowns into a game where an entity can summon you to another realm. The people who say slinger takes no skill are the same type of people who think spirit is just a pair of headphones.
Play slinger, come back when you've 4ked against a good squad and tell me and all the other slinger mains he don't take skill.
I think you guys hear "no skill" and instantly think "easy to win with/will always get 4k wins."
Deathslinger, at least on PC where you're not aiming with two ridiculous little sticks, is very easy to land shots with. Yes, many players will still be bad because DBD seems to attract a large crowd of players who only play one game for thousands of hours, but to anyone with even middling FPS experience, it's super easy to land hits, because all the things that make landing hits hard in other games (long ADS window, opponents moving/jumping/shooting back, avoiding fire, etc) are not there for Deathslinger. You just quick scope to "ADS" and fire instantly.
This is why people say you don't juke him, he misses. There's no time wasted in aiming or telegraphing his power. Pyramid Head sticks his big ass sword in the ground, which is loud and very visual, and then he has an animation to fling his sword up, and then the power is telegraphed visually on the ground before it actually does any damage, and then it does damage in chunks in a line, one chunk at a time, not all at once. The Huntress screams like her hatchet is a hundred thousand pounds and raises it over her head, where it takes time to charge up, and when it's charged up fully, everyone on the map can hear it. When the Deathslinger aims, he holds M2 for a split second then taps M1 and you're already hooked before you realized he fired.
That does NOT mean he's easy to 4k with, because while his power is really good for chases unless the map is utterly littered with great pallets for you to pre-drop, he just walks from one side of the map to the other, his pressure outside of chases is minimal, at least with how people currently play him. There's also some ways for the survivors to screw with his chain if they're nearby, so there's at least that.
I don't agree that he takes no skill, because I don't think any killer takes "no skill," but I think the skill requirement to land your shots with him is VERY low compared to other ranged attacks in the game, although you do waste a lot of time if you miss and have to reload.
