Sorry survivors but aura perks don't work how you think. Every perk has conditions that must be met before activating, thus your argument against stealth only applies when you create that condition. Lets not pretend killer have omnipotent vision from the start, we have to work hard to earn a few seconds of it.

You are forgetting about the dozens of killer add-ons that give the killer aura reading abilities just from using their power.

Name them. I doubt you find that many.

How would new objectives fix SWF?

New objectives that must be completed would extend the game effecting swf gen rush capability

New objectives would extend the game for ALL survivor… SWF would just make it more efficient.
Nothing would be changed about the insane advantage SWF on voice com have.

  • How would new objectives fix SWF?

  • Basically ALL tracking perks have conditions.

    No problem ;)

A lot of people that do not play "enough" or "high ranking" matches, don't see it coming, but when I see a bright colored Claudette with a med kit or a flashlight, I KNOW she wants to be chased. The Medkit will be insta or the flashlight is used to click at me to get attention.

If someone with a streamer tag is not ready up as a plain Dwight, I KNOW he will last second swap to P3 Claudette.

When I see profiles with hidden friendslists, but public groups like DBD-survivor-teammate-finder or Ochido fan group, I just know what to expect.

    etc.

    etc.

Wait she wants it because she wears bright clothes?
    Seriously? That's really scary logic.

You don't seem to play killer often. Usually you can spot the guy that wants to get chased already in the lobby by wearing the brightest colors available most likely along a flashlight.
In most cases I am right and see that very guy running in the plain open right at the start of the match, never even trying to stay hidden.
It's a matter of ingame experience. Often you also get a feeling for that one guy that doesn't ready up if he is just afk or waiting for a last second switch.
That's when I have the cursor hovering over the "leave lobby" button and look for the feet to see the character switch at the 7th second.

, Killers objective is downing and hooking a survivor and that takes about the same time as 1 gen for most games.

In what world are you playing?

Yes, one hit is usually 30-40 seconds plus carrytime, that's roughly 80 seconds for one hook.
But during that time, 3 survivor can do THREE different gens.

All I have to say about Tyde is that he can eff himself with the Doctor's Stick for the comment related to the Doctor's Hallowed Blight cosmetic.

Tyde knows a lot, but he's utterly ignorant in some regards, mainly in how strong Killers are. He's a noob Doctor, yet convinced that he knows how to play him.

The Doctor has no way to travel the map faster, no way to down survivors faster, and no way to deal with looping. He's just a M1 killer with a ginormus terror radius, that can track survivors easily, but can't do anything during a chase, and is ez pz countered just by knowing how he and the game work.
It's as simple as that. If Freddy and the Spirit didn't exist, the Doctor would be the worst killer in the game.

Actually he can block some loops with well timed shocks.
Or at least the survivor need to adjust and drop the pallets earlier, which overall shortens the chase.
I think he is mid tier, because he is capable to slow the game down.

    Which share the same problem.
The model of the hunched over Dwight clearly shows how his body is poking out of the actual hitbox.
So the weapon can either visually pass right through his face and you do not get a hit or your weapon is whiffing far behind his back, but you get a hit.

Thats not how hits works in DBD. The weapon swing is just an animation, the actual hits are registered within a "hitcone" and not via collision of the weapon hitbox vs survivor hitbox

I know, but the visual problem is THE SAME.

mmh... strange… I heard the people say the same about the steam forum. :p
Maybe you should switch to reddit and hope to find an echochamber for survivor there.

  • Stalking the prey at the campfire is already part of the match.
The killer is meant to be able to prepare for the hunt.
Or just choose what prey to pick or not.
If they are to well equipped, just come back another night to chase them (aka dodge).
If survivor would play smart, they would not be the 3rd at the campfire picking a toolbox.

Before i get to my balance suggestions, i do believe it'd be best long term if these changes are implemented as soon as possible, even if it sounds counterproductive for some.

My reasoning is that while there are other Killers and mechanics that are definitely worse, the buffs those two Killers received pushed them in a place where i can say that a few minor changes would make them balanced and fun.
This is important because while chapters and bigger changes naturally take more time, playing and facing 2 more Killers in the roster will add variety in the game which is more fun. Trapper changes:

    (Spoiler)

This would be some QoL changes, but nothing that would really improve the Trapper gameplay.
He is a low tier killer at the moment.
His add on rework didn't do much to make him better, because is core kit is outdated and to slow for the current gameenviroment.

By releasing more and more survivor and killer they flood the game with new perks every time.
That way it becomes very frustrating for new player. I am an "old" player, I already have most of the stuff.
Most of my killer are P3 and decked out with perks.
It's the new player that suffer and they will get forced to spent extra money to get auric stuff.
From a marketing standpoint, it needs to be grindy to make the people spent money.

    Avoiding the question...

Do you enjoy the grind as it is now?

    Avoiding reading?
    I already answered.
I do not suffer from it, because I only need to catch up on a new killer every now and than and I do not buy survivor anyway.

Dude, it's a yes/no question. Do you enjoy the grind, yes or no?

Yes, I play grindy games all the time, so I seem to enjoy it or be drawn to it.
Believe it or not. I like repetitive games.
This game has no endgame raid content, no endboss fight with your clan.
It's repetitive gameplay and only grinding keeps it going.

  • Yea, fix the damn hitboxes.
I have way to many swings where my weapon pass right through the survivor and the game does not register the hit.
    That is really annoying..

I actually do not understand what you want to tell or ask me, but if you can't explain… nevermind.

All the things in your list are cosmetics or tools and those are the reasons for why killers lobby dodge?

Killers are on a really tight time frame and under constant pressure. Survivors don´t really feel pressured unless only 3 load in with 5 gens. (which btw, should be the normal game mode)
So when survivors bring in toolboxes they significantly decrease the time it takes to finish the gens. Which is already to fast, considering that survivors can finish all 5 gens in 3 minutes (1 survivor being chased by the killer).
Flashlights are rarely used for saving other survivors, but mainly to annoy the killer.
Bright outfits usually mean survivors which want to get the attention of the killer to get chased. They know how to loop and bring crutches like DS and/or Insta heals.

Pretty much everything said. Thanks Tsulan.^^

Are you suggesting that the maps are balanced as they are and that these maps don't offer survivors serious advantage?

Sure some maps do offer survivors advantage but some maps are also killer sided. Such as The Game. As @powerbats said if you don't like what survivors are choosing then use your own offering.

The Game is only killer sided for a very few killer.
Most killer do not perform well on that map.
Huntress has no LOS to throw, Billy can't sprint across the map. Trapper has no good spots to place traps. etc. You get the picture.
So the map is not per se "killersided".
On the other hand maps like Swamp or Coldwind are completely survivorsided.
Name any other map that you would call "kilelrsided" please.
Right now I can't think of ANY map that is "kilellersided" beside The Game with Doctor.

    I actually forgot this post.

@Wolf74 I'm not a Survivor main or anything. I play about 95% killer. And how the hell does BBQ solve a survivor issue? It absolutely kills stealth and let's you initiate a chase far faster than without using BBQ. I never had a camping nature in this game, I always rushed of the hook to find the next person and this perk made in unbelievably easy for everyone to find and initiate another chase. It benefits killers greatly.

    1. After WGLF came into the game, lobby waittimes for survivor skyrocketed, because to man ykiller player switched to play survivor to farm points. Killer needed a similar perk to fix that survivor issue.
    2. Survivor complain about camping and the Devs designed a perk that gives killer a reason to leave the hook = BBQ
    3. Survivor complained about getting tunneled and the Devs designed a perk that gives killer a reason to chase differnt targets to get their stacks = BBQ.

BBQ is NOT "killing stealth". Just play every game from the get expecting the killer to have BBQ.
This was how people had to play when SFTS was strong (yea, long time ago). You just avoided areas with crows back than, just in case the killer might have SFTS.
Now you have to be aware if the killer might have BBQ.
and honestly there are only 2 killer that can really benefit from the very short aura read.
There are many tactics to outplay that short 4 second window.
4 seconds to spot and evaluate 3 auras, with the option to hide behind gens and do trickplays.
If that "kills stealth", I call that a YOU problem.

  • I think it is a real bad sign for the state of the game that the Devs avoid putting things into the patch notes.
These kind of shadownerfs make the community lose their trust in the Devs.

Right now Sabo is pretty balanced.
I see it hardly ever used and even if, a hooked being sabod while I carry someone to it is usually just once per match. Nothing to hard to handle compared to the effort the Sabo player put into it. I have them rather running around prepping hooks instead of rushing gens.

Yes slugging will just become meta if survivors really start saboing again. We had this already and this was exactly the reason why saboing was nerfed so hard.

Hooks will still respawn, so we won't get to the horror that was pre nerf Sabo.
I played at that time and you needed (pre nerf) Ig to have at least a chance to get someone hooked.
Basement trapper builds had been strong at that point for that reason.

  • @powerbats said:

That but also as @Warlock_2020 said, given the player base is mostly swf you'd have a really hard time finding lobbies. But also a ranked swf would need some serious tweaking because you'd get various size swf groups on there.

    Which is not true.
Devs stated on stream that roughly 50% of all survivor join the game by clicking the SWF option, including those that join via Swf solo. Some do that to avoid bugs or out of habit, etc.
So we have less than 50% of all survivor player playing Swf, which not "mostly".

  • @powerbats said:

They eventually do need a casual mode in addition to a ranked mode

    Casual = with SWF
    Ranked = without SWF
    … right?

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

As much as I hate looping, what other strategies do survivors have? Stealth does not work with all the aura reading abilities. Evasion has a very low chance of working due to aura reading, noises, blood/scratch marks, whispers, etc. That leaves....looping, or blinding the killer.

    Woohoo… wait… that's a YOU problem.
Stealth is still working… since I do suck at looping, I use stealth and I do it effective (at least on my level), because I know how killer play (because I am a killer main).
Aura reading is nothing impossible to beat. All aura reads are situational, you just have to pay attention to it and play accordingly.

Don't blame the game if you want to play like a toxic scumbag.

  • If they would adjust pallets by rank, this would be a step in the right direction, but since people would just derank, it wouldn't stick.
We have to argue around what the game is really about and that is "the same rules across all ranks".

  • You miss the point… the game is THE SAME across all ranks.
Nothing you say is on the horizon so far.
The map layout and rules and mechanics are the same for rank 20 and rank 1.
That's the reality we have to work with at the moment.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

You don't seem to understand that they can do both. They can preserve the casual game, while balancing the high-end. They have a rank system already in place, that is the road map.

I like how people tell others that they "don't understand" something, just because they don't agree.
The rank system is flawed since everyone can just derank and does not need to accept it.
And you can NOT balance for both.
If you think it is possible, feel free to explain that to me.

  • Feel free to show any streamer that is reasonably supporting your point.
I would really like to hear some serious reasons to support killer nerfs and survivor buffs.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:
Tyde is correct on much of what he says, but he does not get that this game is broken into two games. There is the high-end game, and the low-end game. The bulk of the players are on the mid to low end. He is judging the game from the top. If we treat all levels from that view, we lose the bulk of players. A lot of good a balanced game with no player base is. That's called a dead game. Dead by balance.

Games need to get balanced from the top down.
Literally EVERY other game -at least those that want to be competitive- do that.
Heck, DBD is holding official tournaments.
If they do, they need to balance like that.
If they want it to be "just casual", they should say it and stop pretending it to be a tournament game.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:
What if instead of "dying" they were left alive as if the player was afk?

Other survivors could heal and rescue the afk survivor for points, dc'ing wouldn't trigger the hatch prematurely/artificially, Evil Incarnate wouldn't be so difficult, and the killer could continue on as normal.

I don't know what could work for a killer DC since they're hosting though..

    Thoughts?

    I would totally support this.

  • Right now Sabo is pretty balanced.
I see it hardly ever used and even if, a hooked being sabod while I carry someone to it is usually just once per match. Nothing to hard to handle compared to the effort the Sabo player put into it. I have them rather running around prepping hooks instead of rushing gens.

  • This exhaustion recovery on hook shouldn't be a thing in the first place and should be removed.

  • That's the problem. This insanely overpowered iteration of pallets had been so long in the game, that people think that version was "working as intended" and now after they got FIXED, complain about it.

  • @TiredFluffball said:
Seriously, I don't understand why people still go on about it.

For me, regardless of what Killer I play, Decisive only usually wastes about 15 seconds of my time before the person who hit me with it is already back on my shoulder. And I don't even consider myself a particularly good player.

    Am I missing something here?

My guess, you only play low ranks, right?

The problem with DS is that weak player hardly ever benefit from this perk (either they miss the check in the first place or get redowned extremely fast), but stronger player benefit tremendously from this.

  • @I1am1 said:
high risk yes impossible no. The mechanic it undermines is actually being able to GET the player off the hook. You literally can not no matter how fast you grab the player off the hook.

Erm… sorry... but that sounds like a YOU problem, because I can see this happen all the time ingame.

Swivvel hooks, fake unhooks, bodyblocks to protect rescues, BT, Flashlight blinds, etc.

  • Like Doc said, you overestimate the difficulty of skillchecks, Robb.
That's why Unnerving Presence in itself is a bad perk, an increased chance of skillchecks is benefiting the survivor.

  • For me it is just another reason to camp more.. or harder/closer.
Soft camping and patrolling -which gives survivor a chance to unhook- will get punished, but real hard camping won't.
So I go play Mr.BingBong whispering "better save than sorry" to myself for 2 minutes in front of the hook.

1 … 34 35 36 37 38 … 50
