There are enough strategies to counter this there's teamplay, perks, and map to counter this strategy. Yes it's boring but legitimate.
-
They are legitimate strategies with enough teamplay, perks, and maps to counter these strategies. And Haunted Grounds and BBQ & Chili aren't OP perks.
-
Only played it once. Use to hate Midwich with a burning passion but got use to it. It'll be the same with this map.
-
The maximum cooldown for any perk in tier 3 should be at most 60 seconds

Most spirits generally don't run anything above a green..
if they wanna cheese it by running a ultra rare. let em, but like i said dude..
just drop this talk about spirit.. she's still fine the way she is, Unique killers shouldn't be nerfed like this in general..
Overall she is fine except for this one play that has the potential for great reward for no effort and little risk. Since holding W isn't strong against her. So why should this remain when it won't make her a garbage killer? An effortless unskillful move.

They'll pre-run.
Despite they usually do that. but giving them a notification will Hurt her.
Do you realize this is ALSO behavior. a company who overbuffs or Overnerfs. so that's why i keep saying to people "Spirit is fine"
IN WHICH SHE IS,
And that's why we're here discussing it since behavior can't. Spirit should have a notification because the standstill mindgame has lots of reward for little effort or risk on an otherwise skillful killer. And just running will not damage her that much since she can phase up to them in no time where they then begin the guessing game. And if you suddenly get there and try and fake a standstill and the run it doesn't matter it only takes 15 seconds to recharge and since Spirit has great add-ons to reduce this further so an indication she's phasing still won't hurt her to oblivion. There shouldn't be any killer action that has so much reward for little effort. Not asking to know where she is every step simply if she's phasing.

They said they would have improvements for The Mid-Chapter it better be phenomenal.
-
No one should DC over a killer they don't like.

The PTB will be tomorrow (July 7th).
Can you tell us which map is getting changed? Pretty please I've liked them.
-
Break LOS, pre drop, and just waste his time. Since he sucks in the two other pinnacles of a strong killer Mobility and Snowball.
-
If I had to make a strong guess a Nurse who is truly mastered is truly unstoppable and someone encountered a god Nurse with Double Recharge and Infections Fright. Only thing on a similar level is a god Spirit with Stridor and MDR and the best duration add-on. But, most Nurses aren't good. And the few who have a decent understanding but aren't mastered can be enjoyable to face.

Her power is Unique for a Reason.
Think about it. Let's take everyone's favorite killer for example. Like Billy.
Billy was fine. only needed addon changes. But then people complain bout him in general so the nerf response was this,
Billy's chainsaw now overheats after getting a down. Billy can only travel halfway across the map before you overheat.
His iridescent addons no longer gives him the ability to be stealthy, instead just make overheat "a slight bit bearable"
Oh and now billy get's an extra penalty if he misses or hits a wall. post recovery 4 seconds,
See how that would Hurt billy? Nobody would play him again,
So by nerfin' spirit. you'd ALSO nerf the passive phase that she has along with the stand-still.
Meaning that this WHOLE argument about spirit is just terrible, and needs to be dropped..
But, if Spirit is so unique why is she being compared to many other killers? And I've yet to see a good reason to not give her a notification she's phasing. Because you won't know where she's phasing to. So she wouldn't be butchered and people would still play her since the core mechanic of a guessing game would remain. As well, Stridor, add-ons making her a mobilitiy killer and boosting her power to stronger levels, and still have a strong 1v1, because you won't know where she's phasing to. So please give a scenario where a notification she's phasing suddenly makes her an F tier killer.

There's just no way to nerf or make Spirit fair without defeating the purpose of her kit or making her unfun to play as.
Survivors want information on everything killers do which is why they want a indicator for when she phases but that defeats the purpose of her kit.
Get rid of fake phasing! That also defeats the purpose of her kit.
Make her not hear during phasing! That will make her unfun to play as since she can't see survivors.
THERE'S NO WAY TO NERF SPIRIT WITHOUT GUTTING OR MAKING HER UNFUN TO PLAY AS!!!
Some Spirit ideas I disagree with the you hear her footsteps no. The you see her periodically out of phase I need to see on a PTB. But, I still don't see how knowing she's phasing will suddenly make her an F tier killer. When she still has so much going for her.

Any killer is boring to face...
Survivors just don't want killers in general my guy,
They want one of them nerfed to high heavens and back.
Spirit doesn't just need to be touched in general, Leave her be
Just a minor notification she's phasing it takes no effort and it wouldn't butcher her because take these scenarios
Spirit and survivor both racing each other to the pallet Spirit begins to phase survivor is notified somehow survivor still has to guess to double back or head to the pallet. Spirit still strong
You drop the pallet Spirit phase survivor knows and still needs to guess where she'll phase to. Spirit still strong. And this allows for the possibility of the Spirit to use this in her advantage.

Stop lying,
Just stop #########' complaining and take the time to just get SKILL,
Honestly. Yall need to realize that the game C A T E R S to survivors.
Yall already got billy nerfed. Nurse Ruined, Freddy reworked. Clown Reworked, What #########' more do you want?
Do you just want spirit to be 50% movement speed and have her power just instant stun her and keep her permanently stuck in the ground the whole match?
In the casual play the majority this game isn't grossly unbalanced.
-
The only two things in this game I consider taking no skill. Is placing a snare or the Spirit standstill mindgame.

Unfortunately yes, Spirit is strong because she gives no feedback, there's no real room for counterplay, you just guess and hope the killer isn't very smart. She's strong like how Nurse is strong because she ignores mechanics that other killers are forced to play around.
On the other hand those 2 being the strongest I think says a lot about dbd chase/map design.
Man, but I think it won't because because while yes you'll know she's phasing you won't know where she's phasing still leaving the guessing design of her in play. For example say you two are racing to a pallet you phase survivor is notified you can use that to have the survivor double back or still get ahead. Still leaving the guessing in her.
-
It's been like this with new Open-Handed also a perk with a good buff with lots of praise no one touches. Personally people have been become too use to the meat and don't want to leave it like they thought they would.

Right. The problem is that she becomes either trash or god tier thanks to minor tweaks to her sounds. It's just a bad gameplay concept for a power.
The fact that IW or Stridor being in play have such a huge impact on her matches is ridicolous.
And the complete lack of actual interaction between her and survivors combined with the one-sided guessing game makes chases very dull and not very satisfying to play.
Do you think an indication of wether she's phasing not where she's phasing would butcher her kit?
-
At most what they can do is rework her add-ons and an indication of if she's phasing not where she's phasing.
-
Add-on rework. And indication when phasing will do. And importantly she'd still be strong.

I already play both sides and i've played against MANY spirits. both noobs and goods spirits,
And let me tell you. i've only lost to spirit if i'm A: Solo, B: Out-played. or C: My grunts give me away,
honestly. this is just. a git. gud. situation, Stop trying to nerf ######### and just learn to outplay,
Ah yes learn to outplay by guessing whether or not she's standing still. Get Real luck isn't feasible counterplay. Good to know you're lucky. I'm gonna stop talking since this isn't going anywhere. And you're probably lonely in thinking this is a fine mechanic.

if you blind her. Bam. you literally stop her from using her power for a complete 4 WHOLE seconds.
Leaves you ample time to get the ######### outta that loop and to properly dodge the spirit,
Ah yes from the man who think standing still takes meaningful skill and should remain unchanged. And thinks we should just bring flashlights every game to solve the issue. Do you also think old amulet was fine?

Hooooooly hell...
If you say spirit is SOOOO easy then dude. go try this against people that KNOW how to verse a spirit,
Go on, tell me how this strat would work out for you
Again. this is a GIT GUD. not a "Lucky" thing to happen, Yer putting words in my mouth yet a ######### gain.
I already told you the counters. and yet you sit here and STILL say "It's Uncounterable"
Get real dude...
No, Spirit does take good skill you got to realize the distance the phase will get you. Learn to use footsteps and grass movement as extra tracking and use them to play around Iron Will. And this will lead to some tricks survivors can do against Spirt. Except the standstill mind game that takes no skill will lead to easy hits. And is get lucky and hope she's no there. No meaningful counterplay. But you think any justified nerf will butcher a killer. Which guess what you're in the minority. Get real dude this takes no skill but you think this will kill the killer. She'd still be strong and just fine. Not every criticism is a witch hunt against a killer stop overreacting like this would be the second Hillbilly nerf.

Killers do not need to get this kind of nerf,
I defend killers that has Actual skill behind it,
Like the Blight J-Flick. i still argue that it shouldn't be removed,
Or the billy nerf. Also uncalled for,
Or the Nurse Rework. 100% uncalled for,
And i didn't say to get Lucky. now you're just putting words into my mouth,
But, that's what the stand still mind game from Spirit is get lucky. And bad for the game. So yeah you're saying get lucky. with this mind game. So answer me what skill is behind this stand still mind game? You stand still the survivor vaults you get a hit they run too late and you phase and hit them. Good to know you think a mechanic that requires no meaningful skill should remain. And once again not comparable to any other killer.

Blind her. you can fake that ######### out,
Goddamn, Just stop with the Nerfs and git gud in general,
Oh yeah you think get good means be lucky. Don't have any meaningful skill just be lucky. And think everyone just has flashlight ready to go. This mind game isn't skillful and you believe it takes as much effort as a Hillbilly cure or Nurse blink. Stop defending a no skill mechanic that offers lots of reward with no major repercussions. This is a justified nerf requested by the majority of the community. Good to know you want this game hampered by skill less mechanics

There is Repercussions.
Say yer phase is on cd. and you try the standstill--- OH WAIT THEY JUST RAN AWAY STILL.
Preventin' the mindgame and forcin' you to run while still waiting for yer Power!
Get countered,
Oh yeah you just pointed out a noob Spirit move that once you get familiar with her and use add-ons won't happen. Once again please stop defending an interaction that you think will somehow make her an F tier killer that also has no skill and no major repercussions after basic familiarity.

Clown has to standstill on some loops to do two bottles.
Huntress has to standstill if she wants a perfect shot across the map,
This strat can be countered too by other survivors.
Hell. not even good survivors can get caught with the fake mind-game,
Except they have to actually hit the target or area and will suffer if they miss and need to reload and have to move sometimes. Once again actual skill needed. And creates enjoyable balanced interactions. Unlike standing still for a free hit. And suffering no major repercussions

It's still a unjustified nerf..
That's like nerfing the ability for clown to limit him to how many bottles he can even throw,
Or limiting how much huntress can hold a hatchet for until her arm gets tired..
Except standing still takes no skill and forces non interactive guess. Dude this is an entirely justified nerf for a brain dead interaction that you think takes skill somehow. And Clown and Huntress actually have to put effort into their interactions. Not comparable.

I really think people need to drop their expectations for the rework. None of the other maps have changed all that much. The Game probably changed the most but that's only because they wanted to make it safe for survivors and it came out horrendous. The devs can't make maps anymore this much is obvious.
Honestly Haddonfield sucks but I'd take it over Badham any day.
There are slim chances it has an Ormond where core issues are fixed. But if not at least it'll look nice and actually spooky.

While I agree that she shouldn't be able to stand still the problem is there is no way to remove it without defeating the purpose of her kit. The purpose of Spirit's kit is to trick survivor's and leave them guessing. Standing still is one of the few tricks that BHVR intended on her having. IF you take away her abiliity to stand still you are defeating the purpose of her kit because she has to stand still to phase.
It's like wanting a Cheese Burger, but you don't want cheese on it
But you'll know she's phasing, you won't know where she's phasing so the element of guessing will remain and not the brain dead standstill that takes no skill.
-

Actually it will because it harms her kit
Yes it is a nerf. But she will still have much going for her that she won't suddenly become an awful killer.

Gotta speak a little louder. People don't see that nerfing anything about her, ruins her kit or makes her too damn brain dead to play against
Like standing still takes effort. Spirit does take skill I know that you need to anticipate Iron Will, Grass moving, and footsteps, and other things this one aspect removed won't ruin her she'll still be one of the strongest.
-

Cause people just don't play killer in general.
about like 30% of the playerbase plays killer.. and 70% in survivor,
half the time. the nerfs are uncalled for on certain killers. includin' this one
Dude this one is justified this won't butcher her like Hillbilly was. She'll still have Stridor, still have a strong 1v1, still have the option to become a mobility killer with add-ons, and still have strong perks that go well with her. This will simply eliminate an unskillful move that requires no effort and forces the survivor into a lucky gamble which isn't enjoyable.

Even hot coals can be appear to be cold.
Point that I'm trying to get at is weather you know if coals are hot or cold are you still gonna walk on them? Because I'm not. So why vault or walk back towards Spirit if you don't know if she's phasing?
Because if I don't she'll appear right on me and down me because I didn't know if she was phasing or not forcing people into an unenjoyable gamble.

If you deafen her. she'll resort to predator.
If you make her phasing sounds have that groaning sound. you'll juke her easily.
If you make her have the no passive phasing. she'll be a weaker mindgaming killer,
You can't nerf one of her aspects Without damaging her completely...
But, with aspect of knowing she is phasing we still won't see she where she is phasing to so she will have her strength of survivors not knowing where she is at all times. As well, will still have her add-ons, (giving her mobility and better 1v1), still not have any map weakness, still have the godly synergy with Stridor(which most run like how most Trappers bring Corrupt, and Onis infectious). As well with other perks like Sloppy or Ruin and many more.
-
@Sluzzy said:
When one side is nerfed non-stop for 5 years in a row, it gets very imbalanced. It is now imbalanced and survivors need a lot of buffs. Killers win too much and everyone knows it but pure killer mains and devs.
I believe in the casual play this game is quite balanced. While in the lowest ranks it's for killer. And the highest ranks for survivor. But, the first part I said is quite balanced from my experience. Both sides have plenty of maps in their favor. As well, there's enough perks, items, and add-ons to give both sides a fighting chance. Minus the occasional Nurse with double recharge and Infectious fright, Spirit with speed and duration and Stridor, or 4 man depip squad.

Indeed. The number of comments saying "Well, X got nerfed in this way, so why wasn't it buffed in another way to compensate?" is baffling. The whole point of a nerf is to nerf the thing, because it's too strong. If you just buff it in some other way to compensate, you're right back where you started.
Whataboutism is a terrible way to balance.
