Thanks for the response. I've been playing this game a long time and was not even aware there was a way for killers to avoid stun.

The guy asked for perks which would benefit his nephew as the last one standing, don't see the point of your reply. As for the topic, running Wake up is just fine. Left behind is useless most of the times,so i wouldn't run it. But wake up will always really come to use,and I think just having it in ur loadout is fine.
I tend to agree. Left Behind is only useful if you happen to be close to hatch when it first spawns.

Gotta love these forums. Ask a question about someone that doesn't want to run the meta build and no mention of swf. The first response you get is a salty bitter answer about meta builds and SWF.

Its similar to the skillcheck popping the same time a survivor gets hooked....feels like its every damn time.
Its all RNG of course, but because it affects us in a negative way we notice it more and thus create the perspective its more common than it actually is.
You may well be right. The thing I notice though is something like this. Working on a gen and have not received a single skill check. The moment there is another noise like a survivor getting hooked or something I get a skill check where the noise is masked. Maybe I do just notice it more. But it definitely feels like skill checks are much more likely to happen at times when they are either impossible to hit, or the noise is masked by something else.

Its so weird to how often it happens. I see it constantly when i play killer and happens WAY to frequently when I play survivor.
I agree, That's what prompted me to post about it when I did. I had just finished a match where it happened 4 times in the same match. The fact it happens is annoying enough, but the fact skill checks seem more likely to happen the moment you stop a gen repair makes it worse.

The weirdest part about it, is sooometimes it doesn't blow. Sometimes you hear that sound the moment you leave, and it's no problem. I still don't understand how the hell the game even handles this. Its clearly busted. Disappointing it's rarely even been acknowledged by devs for this long. Or if they have, I never heard.
I have never seen a dev even comment on posts about this or the fact they have terrible servers.

Probably because that’s what we would do in real life!!! Not attract the killer with a flashlight and run around a truck 5 times
That sounds logical to me. In real life I would want to stay as far away from the person that wants to attract the killer as the killer themself
-
Not being in a chase in the first place. I'm still doing generators, healing people, and performing safe hook removals, but I'm trying to do it without being chased. Obviously anytime you escape as a survivor you have won, but I consider escaping without having been in a chase a better win. I just get some sort of satisfaction out of not being seen by the killer

The only kinds of slugging that needs fixing are slugging for the 4k (or, sweating for the 4k) and the nerds who slug everyone and just let them bleed out at the beginning.
To fix slugging for the 4k, I would make it so there's a submit button, where you can "die", but in doing that, your death timer is still in play, so the hatch wouldn't open immediately for your team mate.
Something similar could be done for the nerds that slug everyone early on.
Slugging to avoid DS is not really "slugging" to slug, it's slugging as a necessity.
I would love to see something like this. I hate when a killer slugs everyone or even just the last 2 survivors and simply lets them bleed out. I understand waiting awhile to ensure not getting hit with DS, but there's no reason to slug someone and leave them on the ground after that time other than intentionally being a jerk. Give me the option to submit and I will take it everytime in that situation. Killer can get his points. I can move on to the next match and not waste my time.
-
My wife told me to try it. The first 3 times I played the game I played killer and hated every minute of it. Went months without picking it back up. One day my wife told me I ought to try playing survivor. Told her it wouldn't matter because it was a stupid game. She wouldn't let up until I tried a few matches as a survivor. Over 2 years later I'm still playing. Still rarely play killer though.
-
I'm a solo survivor main. I hate playing with SWF's because it generally means I'm gonna get screwed by a team that doesn't care about me and will very likely sacrifice me. So I am not particularly a fan of SWF's.
Having said that I see this topic a lot and even if BHVR wanted to do something to punish or do away with SWF they wouldn't be able to stop it. You would just have people using secondary chat apps or whatever to communicate with each other while they play.
Even as a survivor main I understand the frustration. I just think it would be a complete waste of time for BHVR to even try to do anything about it when there are so many super easy ways for people to circumvent it without detection.
-
I have the exact same issue. I have addressed it on here more than once. I have seen others bring it up just like you are doing. The only thing you can count on is that you won't get a response from anyone associated with the game. They ignore these posts like they don't even exist. I have created posts on this topic and specifically asked for comments from Devs in the title. Nothing. I have never once seen them comment on any of these posts. It's obvious they have server issues and simply don't care.

Glitch. It has happened to me a couple of times and it was impossible to end the game, resulting in me having to DC because I was stuck frozen on the hook and the end game collapse did not kill me.
I've also had games as killer where someone is frozen on the hook or gets stuck in place after being unhooked, which I assume is the same issue.
Thanks. First time it's happened to me. It was rather strange. I actually did die on the second hook. If you don't die on the last hook and EGC doesn't kill you I guess it becomes a matter of whether you or the killer DC's first.
-
Every time I have ever used DS I have been tunneled after doing so. It's been like a guarantee to be tunneled in my experience. It is the only perk in the game that has resulted in net negative results for me personally. Maybe I've just been unlucky with how the killers I have played against responded. I haven't used it in over a year because of that though.
-
Absolutely. It's ridiculous to actually complete what is supposed to be the objective of the game as a survivor and not be rewarded for it.

You take the risk of getting into a bad game when you queue. You owe it to everyone not to be a little ######### about it.
I can't dictate what you do but the devs can punish you for being such a selfish player.
I love replies like this one.
- First off, suicide on the hook isn't against the rules so the devs aren't going to be punishing anyone for it.
- If the best response you can come up with is to call someone a name you've already lost the argument.
- The irony of calling someone else selfish when you are literally advocating that everyone must play the game in a way you find personally acceptable or they should be punished.

Sometimes you have no other choice.
I would rather give you a chance to keep your hook state than to not get that chance to keep it.
To visualize, you're about to enter struggle and the killer is nearby. I will rescue you with the intention of trying to save you a hook state. Sometimes this works, others not so much, but at least some chance is better than none. 🙂
I agree with that. I mentioned those exceptions. Those are at least a potential positive. It's the unhooks long before either of those times when the killer is standing there

I think a lot of the time it's because people panic and don't think strategically. They go for the save, get seen, and decide to unhook anyway because they don't want the risk they took in attempting it to be for nothing. It doesn't occur to them in the moment that it might be a better idea for everyone involved if they just backed off and let someone else get the rescue.
Basically, sunk-cost fallacy plays a big role. It's the same reason why people playing fighting games will sometimes mindlessly engage an opponent and just try to do as much damage as possible even when they're clearly on the back foot and would really be better off retreating, because they don't want all the health they've already lost to go to waste.
I could see that being right. If survivors would just learn to play strategically the difference would be amazing.

Because there are a lot of jerks that play this game that do not care how frustrating or miserable they make the game for other players.
I only watched this last night on Haddonfield where a Steve ran in to unhook a meg the second Ghostface put her on the hook. He didn’t even have borrowed time.
I messaged the Steve asking why. He said he didn’t care he was just farming. It also annoyed me that this Ghostface didn’t punish Steve for this. Now that player will continue to unsafe save because there aren’t consequences.
I agree it's definitely a jerk move. Guess I always figure they at least want to escape. Maybe that isn't their ultimate goal.

Sorry, but just because you create a thread, doesn't make what it said true. Context is important. Quitting simply because you got hooked first is much different than being hook farmed by a teammate and the killer tunneling you because of it. When you see they are going to do it again, you aren't going to be able to help your team anyway. In some games, your survivor teammates are a bigger threat than the killer.
Bingo. In that situation my game is over one way or the other. By sticking around to be farmed yet again the only people being helped are the ones farming/tunneling me in the first place. Given those choices.... I will choose not to help them and move on to the next match.

I very often hook suicide in this same circumstance.
Or even more frustrating, I’m using Kindred, every other survivor can clearly see the killer isn’t nearby, and they can see what each other survivor is doing, but I hang there and reach struggle phase. When that happens I just don’t bother struggling. I’m all for “as long as they’re doing the objective”, but if it’s at the expense of unnecessarily letting someone reach struggle phase, then screw them.
I get frustrated with that one myself. If I'm on a time crunch I may hook suicide in that situation and try to get in another quick game. The situation I posted about here though will always result in a hook suicide for me. I guess I can handle other survivors being apathetic towards me better than I can actively working against me. That's just a personal thing though.

Agreed. I'm always amused when people complain about someone (killer or survivor) using a perk. My favorite is when someone actually suggests that using a certain perk is acceptable, but only in certain situations and if you use it at a time they don't agree with you are abusing it.
-
As a survivor main I love the idea. I wouldn't be blocking killers though. I would block other survivors. There are some survivors so toxic I would love knowing I would never have to participate in another match with them.

To each their own. I'm just explaining the reasonable definition of "holding the game hostage" as it pertains to reportable offenses. The act of bleeding out and dying is intended to bring the game to an end and prevent this from happening. It may take longer than you'd like, but making it shorter would have questionable implications for game strategies.
I do agree, in any case, that the killer you're describing was being a jerk.
Understood. I really do see that it doesn't qualify as holding the game hostage. That was bad wording on my part. At the same time there is zero legitimate reason to slug the last 2 survivors and just let them bleed out. A killer would get more points by hanging the last 2 survivors. That means the only reason to slug and leave every remaining survivor is just to be a jerk.
-
@Rydog said:
Holding the game hostage implies that one or more players are prevented from bringing about the game's end without resorting to leaving. Slugged survivors will bleed out, which is intended the put a timer on them and end the match if they are left on the ground -- which means the match will end without anyone needing to disconnect.
Holding the game hostage would be, like, if the killer trapped you in a corner and you could literally not move, and they didn't hit your or move themselves, and just kept you there.
I can see that. I still think it should fall into griefing. This isn't slugging the next to last survivor to draw out the last one. This killer simply slugged both and left us to bleed out. He made absolutely no attempt to even pick either of us up, much less to hang us. So, if BHVR sees no issue in a killer intentionally wasting my time I will simply choose to waste it on a 5 minute ban as opposed to bleeding out in that situation. It may never happen to me again. This is the first time in 2 years I have seen a killer slug every remaining survivor and let them bleed out, but if it does I know what I will do.

I mean... were you playing super toxic? was he anticipating a decisive strike? was he waiting out your unbreakable? Sounds like he was playing it safe. Survivors have no clue the amount of utility they have. These safe plays ensure that 1) survivors do not get what they want (because they want in their own self interests) 2) the survivors get what they deserve for being toxic... maybe respect your killer and they will respect you? or are survivors unable to comprehend that?
No one was being toxic except for the killer. I didn't have decisive strike or unbreakable. But again, the killer made zero attempt to pick either of us up or hang us. I'm always amused when people automatically take up for their side and assume it was due to the other side doing something wrong. Guess what? There are toxic players on both sides.

No, slugging people until they die is not against the rules as you can see in the list here:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LILKBDSK1S63/image.png
Slugging is not taking the game hostage either, since you will bleed out and die in a certain amount of time.
You can find more information on the game rules here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system
There is a difference between "slugging" and slugging every remaining survivor and just leaving them without making an attempt to hang them. If BHVR is unable to see that is toxic and griefing that is stupendously shortsighted. I will simply DC if it ever happens again and take the penalty.
-
I personally think it should be something you can be banned for doing. Again, I understand slugging as a strategy to get the win. However, slugging every survivor left in the match and then just letting them lay there is ridiculous. I will put it this way. I would really like someone from BHVR to comment on this. If this isn't against the rules I will DC if it ever happens again. I will gladly take a 5 minute penalty in that situation. I haven't DC'd from a match after the 1st week I played this game and I have been playing for 2 years, but I would DC for this.
DC'ing in this situation will hurt no one but me. I will be the one to get a penalty. No one else will suffer any consequences.
-
@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
I would think its more griefing than holding the game hostage, but what do I know
True. It may be more griefing than holding hostage. I guess my question is wondering whether or not it would be considered something BHVR would look at as against the rules and result in possible punitive action.
I understand slugging as a strategy, but slugging to be a [bad word] should be punishable.

It's actually not counterproductive, as survivors remove their brains the instant you camp. They'll flock to the hook and feed you kills
Bingo. As a survivor main I point this out every time I see someone complaining about camping. It SHOULD be counterproductive. If survivors played intelligently it would be. Camping is only a good strategy because survivors make it that way.
-
As a survivor main I think playing against Freddy and ghostface are both boring. Freddy is boring simply because it seems the majority of my matches are against him and I would like a little more variety. Ghostface is boring because he excels at camping and most survivors aren't smart enough to not run right up and make his greatest strength even stronger.
-
While I agree with you someone that DC's doesn't actually care what you, me, or anyone else thinks about it. If they did they wouldn't do it. That's why they implemented punitive measures for doing it.
-
As a survivor main I have respect for any killer that plays this game well. A killer that does it without slugging or camping and my respect goes up a notch. A killer that does it without add-ons is simply on another level as far as respect goes..
-
It's one of the most confounding things about this game to me. Survivors want to complain about camping yet they are the ones that make camping a viable strategy. If not for survivors making it a very effective strategy there would be far less camping. I say that as a survivor main.
-
The counter to camping is survivors playing intelligently. It just rarely happens. I say that as a survivor main.
-
I don't begin to understand the appeal of DS anyway. If you use it you are almost guaranteed to be tunneled afterward.

I can just imagine patrolling gens as killer when you hear some crows somewhere off, you go there and all survs are teabagging the crows while attacking them with slingshots XD
(also make it possible to attack your teammates for the extra toxic ones)
I approve of that idea too
-
I'm a survivor main and I get at least 3 or 4 nasty messages a week from other survivors. I can't recall the last time I got a nasty message from a killer. Survivors are disproportionately toxic post game. On these forums I think the toxicity is pretty evenly divided.
-
There is a anti camping mechanism in place already. It's a rarely used tactic. It comes down to one very simple thing that most survivors seem incapable of doing when someone is being camped. It's called playing with an intelligent strategy. If survivors started doing 2 simple things camping would not be a viable strategy.
1) If you are not the survivor being camped do not rush to unhook. Do gens. Be willing to let the hooked survivor die. If a killer is face camping every survivor not on the hook has the time to complete 1 full gen during the time it takes the hook process to complete. There would even be time to start on other gens.
2) If you are the survivor being camped be willing to die and make sure you struggle the full amount so you give the other survivors time to knock out gens.
If survivors would do those 2 simple things there would be 3 gens done by the time the killer gets his first kill. By the time they have the second person on the hook the remaining 2 survivors would easily be able to knock out the last 2 gens. At that point the killer is forced to stick with camping the second person or trying to keep the doors from being opened. Either way it is highly likely at least 2 survivors would escape in that scenario and it doesn't amount to a good game for the killer as they haven't actually done much to get points or rank up.
The ONLY reason camping is a viable strategy is because survivors make it that way. For the most part if a killer camps they can be guaranteed other survivors will run up and give them easy kills. Why not utilize a strategy where your opponents will literally hand you an easy victory?
I say all that as a survivor main that gets super frustrated watching other survivors willingly sacrifice themselves to camping killers. If survivors started doing this you would see camping become far less frequent because it wouldn't be worth it.

Why are there so little crows on some of the maps? Just got out of a match on Autohaven where there was only two crows on the map. Two! I thought they were more abundant. Is it just RNG or is the crow challenge messing with the number of crows that spawn?
I haven't noticed that, but if there are less crows I am all for it. If BHVR gave survivors weapons that could only hurt crows I would spend the next month doing nothing but trying to kill crows. They are the most annoying element in the whole game for me persoanally.
-
I have always considered DS an "almost guaranteed to be tunneled" perk. I had as part of my build for about a month and finally gave up because every time I used it the killer tunneled me immediately thereafter.

For me personally plunderers became fairly useless the moment they made toolboxes useless.

The stats don’t matter, anyone who believes they do isn’t paying attention. The only thing rush matters is the playerbase whining. If enough survivors start to fee they’re going to get mori every single game even against a lower killer things may change. If not at least I’ll have fun while this experiment lasts.
You could be right. It could backfire too. If enough survivors complain that lower rank killers are beating them due to a mori they could decide to give Mori's a nerf in some way which would in effect be a survivor buff.
By the way... I agree with you that matchmaking needs to be fixed. I think it is horribly broken. My only point is any strategy that attempts to artificially manipulate change runs the risk of having the opposite effect.
-
I really don't care what you bring into each match, but here's a thought:
If you utilize a method that enables you as a rank 12 killer to get the best of red rank survivors you are sending the message that matchmaking isn't all that broken. After all if a level 12 killer can get the best of a team of red rank survivors on a consistent basis why do they need to fix matchmaking?
-
As a survivor main I am unable to make any claims as to which killer is the best based on playing each of them. However, there is one thing I can say as a survivor main. The killer I most often go up against is Freddy, and no other is even close. To me that says either: 1) There are lots and lots of Nightmare on Elm Street fans so devoted to the franchise that they play Freddy no matter what - or 2) Freddy is the strongest killer in the game by a significant margin because I face him at least double the amount of times I face any other killer.

Scooby Doo Lockers
Operate like doors in a Scooby Doo cartoon. You enter one locker, but when you step out of the locker you step out of a different one. The catch is you step out from one within the killers terror radius. I would love to see survivors that hide in lockers all game have to pay a price for it.
