  • 100% correct. I never understand survivors begging BHVR to do something to killers that camp. Instead you should be begging your fellow survivors to quit playing like morons. Killers that camp are doing it because it is an effective strategy. However, the ONLY reason it's an effective strategy is because of survivors. If you are a survivor that runs up to pull people off the hook even when the killer is standing right there you are to blame for camping being so common. Even as a survivor main I realize how ridiculous it is for survivors to ask BHVR for a remedy to a problem they bring on themselves.

The price you pay for playing a team game, my friend. I don't know why the devs insist on giving a pity escape to the last guy, but literally no other game does that, for reasons so obvious I need not say them.

You see a hatch as a pity escape. I see escape doors being so close together as pity kills. I doubt there is any reason either of us is going to give that the other would agree is obvious.

    @sulaiman

Not really a legit “strategy” when survivors can complete their objective while you camp.

God Windows were a problem, but camping is also a problem.

But that is why it is a legit strategy. The majority of survivors are not smart enough to complete objectives while a killer camps. Survivors crouch and circle the hooked one waiting for the moment they think they can sprint in and make the save. For a killer camping is generally a way to ensure at least 2, if not 3, or even all 4 survivors aren't working on objectives.

I say this as a survivor main.... Nothing needs to be done about camping because the only reason it is a viable strategy is because of survivors playing stupidly. I get how frustrating it is when you are the one being camped, but camping wouldn't happen nearly as often if survivors didn't make it worthwhile. The answer to camping isn't to have BHVR make killers stop doing it considering survivors make it profitable. The answer to camping is survivors deciding to play like they have a brain in their head.

Ranks reset to the previous color every month on the 13th. If you didn't see it the first time you logged in after, it may have just been a visual bug that didn't update until today.

That's the thing. I did get my rank reset. I had went from 6 to 8 on the reset. A couple of days later all the sudden go from 8 to 12 for no apparent reason. It's not a huge deal by any means. I just found it really strange that I lost 4 ranks and never played a game.

  • The argument that the hatch is unfair can be looked at from another angle too.

Take a match I played earlier today for example:

Within a minute of the match starting someone was downed and hooked. The 2 other survivors immediately rush to unhook. They didn't even bother to try to wait for a safe hook removal. This cycle repeated without any of them ever making any sort of real effort to do a gen. While they were playing hook roulette with the killer I worked gens. I even healed other survivors 3 times.

By the time the 3rd survivor was killed I had managed to do 3 gens by myself. No other gens were finished. As I got close to the nearest door I could see both doors were really close together, and there was Myers standing right in between them. There was no way I was going to be able to get either of those doors open because he would be able to take me down with one hit. So, I found the hatch and I escaped.

If you want to call that a free escape that's fine, but as far I'm concerned I didn't deserve a guaranteed loss just because the other survivors played a dumb game.

  • I am in favor of it. I get tired of playing selfish jerks that intentionally trap other survivors in areas so they aren't the one that gets hit

  • For me survivor queues on PS4 have been significantly worse since the dedicated servers were put in place. Before the dedicated servers I don't remember ever waiting more than 5 minutes for a match. Since the dedicated servers I feel lucky if I only wait 5 minutes.

  • When people complain about people that complain about being slugged for a 4k.....

Slug for a 4k if you want. It's part of the game and a legit strategy.

    But whining about the whiners.....

I'm amazed how many people are oblivious to the irony in the things they post.

  • Posts like this one are great. Watching people express differing opinions and each person thinking they are the only one capable of a correct unbiased analysis. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.

sooo fix your internet? update your router? port forward?

You are a detriment to the team while your connection is so unstable that it disconnects you, thats why the penalty is there, fix your internet.

I haven't gotten disconnected often enough to receive that much of a penalty yet, but it isn't always about the internet. I have no issues with my internet with anything other than the PS4 dedicated servers. I can stream Sling and Netflix without buffering. I can play hours and hours of any other online game without a single second of lag. The moment I start playing DBD I have constant lag, and some disconnects.

I have only played DBD on PS4, but I have played lots of other online games. The only one that has ever given me any issues is DBD. The dedicated servers BHVR implemented on PS4 players are horrible.

    I find the issue with the Exit Gates aren’t the time to open them, but more their position;

    • Too close and the Survivors are at a disadvantage
    • Too far and the Killer is at a disadvantage

The Exit Gates should have a fixed distance from one another so it’s easier to balance around, and both the Survivors and Killers don’t feel at a disadvantage for the standard situation.

So much this. Gates on most maps are way too close together. Then there are a couple where they are too far apart. I had a match the other day where I did 3 generators by myself, pulled people off hooks, and healed people. I ended up being the last survivor left. Popped the last generator and head for the gate. As I get to the gates Billy is running back and forth between them. Had a completely unobstructed view from one to the other and it took him less than 3 seconds to get between.

While the killer did their job and shouldn't be penalized by having gates so far apart they can't possible cover both of them. As a survivor I did my job that match also, yet I was penalized with gates so close together that there was almost zero chance of escape.

  • 1) There are way too many perks.

    2) All equipped survivor perks should be inactive to start a match. Activating perks should require remaining active doing things that are productive. Survivor perks would only activate if you stay active doing things like gens, healing, unhooking, etc. Survivors that hide in corners and lockers would never have an active perk.

  • My change would be to have perk combinations change the dynamics a little

    Example:

At this moment Spine Chill lets you now the killer is within a certain radius and headed your way, but you don't know what direction they are coming from

Right now Premonition lets you know the killer is is in the direction you are looking, but you don't know if they are headed your direction or not.

I would make it where if you equipped both perks you got slightly different functionality. If a killer is within a certain radius their direction is lit up regardless of whether you are looking in their direction or not, and whether they are looking in you direction or not. Understand, I don't mean the killers Aura is lit up. I mean the survivor would get notification of the direction of the killer. That's it.

This would create a situation where a survivor would know the killer is near, and even their direction. However, without knowing whether or not the killer is coming their way they have to make a decision about whether or not to try to get away. If they killer was coming their direction they may be able to escape unseen. If the killer wasn't coming their direction and they were working on a gen they lost valuable time they may not get back.

  • There are 3 people that play DBD in my household. Person A ranges between level 5 to 8 survivor. Person B between level 10 to 12 survivor. Person C is newer and hasn't made it below rank 15 yet.

Observing all 3 of these I have noticed:

    • Person C has about 3 or 4 games out of 10 with a killer is either tunneling, camping, or slugging
    • Person B has around 4 to 6 games out of 10
    • Person A it's nearly every game

You can say what you will about why that is the case, but it seems in general if you want success as a killer it depends heavily upon doing one or more of those things. That isn't a condemnation of killers that do those things. If you aren't playing to do the best you can I don't know why you are playing period. Just pointing out it seems it is a rare player that can do really well as a killer and not do some combination of those things.

  • And we could take weapons from killers. Instead they would have bouquets of roses they hand to survivors. The killer would then lead the survivor to the closest gen and kiss them on the cheek before finding another survivor to give roses.

  • I'm a survivor main, and strictly solo survivor. I don't have any friends that play DBD and I can't stand playing with random people on this game. I have run across the worst people that way.

In other words I have no idea what it is like as a killer to play against SWF and won't pretend to claim a buff is or is not needed. I don't have the knowledge necessary to even have an educated opinion.

The opinion I can make is this though: I enjoy this game as a solo at the moment. The challenge as it is right now is more than adequate for my tastes. If they start buffing killers to better compete with SWF I'm going to lose interest in a hurry as a solo survivor, and I would guess (only a guess) that lots of other solo survivors would quit also.

The thing is I play on PS4. There is no way BHVR is going to be able to do anything about SWF on PS4. They can't control players starting a party on PS4 and playing together. In other words the only way to do something about SWF on PS4 is to buff killers, and that would simply make the game not worth playing as a solo survivor.

That would definitely be a new one to me. I would recommend making a bug report for that: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

If you happen to run into that problem again, it would be greatly appreciated if you could grab a clip of it as well.

I will definitely file the bug report. I just uninstalled DBD and am currently reinstalling in hopes of fixing it. Once it's done I will take videos the next few times I attempt to disarm traps to see if it happens again. If so I will make sure to send it.

  • @yobuddd said:

Hmmm. I know of an add on where disarming it still injures you, but yeah, this sounds more like a bug. Maybe something to do with dedicated servers where your console is not accurately telling the game exactly where you’re standing. But that’s just a guess.

This would make sense. I play on PS4 and the dedicated servers have made my experience much worse in other areas so I could see that being the case.

Do you think that there could ever be something that could unite the two or for there to be some sort of truce?

Unfortunately I do not. To unite or have a truce would require enough humility for people to at least consider they might be wrong. I don't think you are ever going to see that happen on these forums.

No ones perfect, but it would be nice if we could possibly have a decent community?

It would be, but reading through these forums I genuinely believe lots of people do not think there is ever a possibility they could be wrong.

  • I'm pretty sure it's because every single person that comments in these forums is perfect. At least that would seem to be what a great deal of them think based on the comments.

  • I have lurked on this forum a long time and just recently signed up. I mostly signed up because you just don't run across groups of people like this all the time. It seems nearly every person on these forums is one of those rare people in this world that has a perfectly analytical brain that is incapable of being wrong. No emotions, personal feelings, or biases come into play when they form their opinions. The odds of that many perfect people congregating to one game and one forum are staggering to say the least. BHVR should be proud of themselves for creating a game that has assembled the greatest minds of our time. Yet there is something about disagreements between people with perfect opinions that seems to not add up....... Hmmmmmm.... I'm sure it couldn't be that opinions are merely opinions and people can be wrong.

  • I respond with random replies that make no sense when people send nasty messages. They usually shut up pretty quickly. Examples of replies:
