Are we seriously crying about an add on on a sub-par killer that has to gamethrow half the match to drain enough energy to activate this ability?

Sounds like the blendette of the bush. Nice to have teammates carry while you cower in the corner, Scooby.
My Ash with a bright blue shirt is far from a Blendette. I just get off the damn gen when the Killer starts coming, and I do not unhook in his face.

That's mainly my point. If you want to win as killer, you'll win, no matter the team unless they're some comp 4 man swf mambo jambo. Against 4 solo is a guarranteed victory every time, even if they're outplaying you, you just tunnel them out and that's it. Where's the challenge as killer if survivors have little to no chance of survival? Should I "go easy on them" and start running weak perks? Why should I be the one responsible for balancing the game?
If you wanna play hard, don't be surprised you made the game easier on yourself. If you go into video games and set the difficulty to VERY EASY and want to clap yourself on the back for beating the game, be my guest.

No, to the fact that the game isn't designed around 'never being spotted'.
The game is designed around TRYING not to. The game is designed around making an effort to avoid being killed, and you do that PRIMARILY with stealth and looping as a LAST RESORT.
But people got real cozy with saying to heck with stealth, I'm gonna go get into a chase right now! And now their precious E key got dismantled, their Ninja perk got dismantled, and they can't do it as well anymore, so clearly the game is "broken" because of that.
-
@Marigoria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3087493#Comment_3087493
That seems like a you problem honestly.
If the game is balanced and you lose, it can be fun.
You cannot balance around fun because fun is subjective. If the developers listened to every complaint that "X isn't fun", the entire game would be dismantled.
-
@Marigoria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3087469#Comment_3087469
Because video games are supposed to be fun for everyone that is playing it.
Losing isn't a synonym with unfun, that's what you're mixing up.
I have never played a video game where the enemy blew my head and went "Wow, that was so much fun. I hope I get my head blown off again!"
The idea that the enemy's mechanics need to be designed around your subjective notion of fun is silly.

The echoes of weak killers everywhere.
If you think it was ever fair to disable the entire audio portion of a Killer's game, you are high. And pointing out how imbalancing that is, is not "weak killer".
The perk NEVER should have functioned at 100%.

That's such a toxic mentality. This is a video game, it's meant to be fun for everyone. Powers should be fun to fight against as well, or you have awful designed killers like nurse, old/current with addons spirit, addons blight, old deathslinger, trickster, nemesis w/ drag exploit, pinhead, etc.
Why the hell should it be fun to go AGAINST? That makes no sense. It is a competitive game. Everything the enemy does is intended to make you lose.

Because killers expect fun from survivors, like when they complain about stealth being unfun to them. But it's fun for me and for many other survivors. Double standards?
Strawman Argument. I never said any of that, and you pulled that out of thin air.

I think it shouldn't have deactivated the perk though, like obviously its better in no exhaustion perk builds atm, but it would have been better if they were going to go with the second nerf at least leave it at 50% that is more reasonable honestly.
A fair argument. I was just always put out by the idea of a perk that could totally nullify all audio the way Iron Will used to do. I give Bite The Bullet a pass because it only works while you are mid-healing action and you can't move.
-
@Dead_Harder said:
Iron will, like DH was pretty damn busted beyond belief. The cap at noise reduction is pretty good. They didnt need to basically make it an exhaustion perk though, that was a bit too much.
You cannot over-nerf Iron Will.

@VcatoV86 said:
Developers have been listening almost exclusively to killers. For years.
Don't believe me?
1.) "Maps are too dark. I can't find Blendette!" Maps were redesigned and brightened.
2.) "Loops are too hard! They are godloops!" Almost* (all?) godloops were erased. Most decent loops were taken out as well.
3.) "Gens pop too quickly! I can't do anything!" Gen time was increased.
4.) "Hooks are too far apart! Survivors are abusing this!" Hooks were brought closer together.
5.) "Deadhard is too much! They get 2 seconds extra time in a chase/miss my hit (even though they gained exhaustion)!" DH was nerfed.
6.) "Decisive strike is not fair! If they are down, I deserve to get a hook!" DS was nerfed.
7.) "Flaslights are too OP! I can't play against them!" Flashlights were adjusted/overhauled.
8.) "Keys and hatches are not fair! I deserve to kill everyone!" Keys and hatch were nerfed.
Now before you say: "Well, killers were a little underwhelming and SWF was too strong"--I agreed! But gain some perspective on just how much the devs always, for years, have catered to the killers.
Complaining about forever Legion is the least of your concerns.
Devs cater to data. Always have. It has nothing to do with this grossly biased claim.

There is that "impossible" word again....

You bring up Tag: "You're not supposed to be caught in Tag either, but if it doesn't happen, you don't really have a game"
To which I reply that Tag wouldn't work if the tagger can just glue people down.
And your response is to bring up freeze tag. Where you get frozen -AFTER- getting tagged. That part of the game doesn't interfere with the 'don't get caught' part, and you know it.
So... you are comparing.... what? Doctor Shocks to.... glue?

Yeah, freeze tag allows them to glue them to the ground -after- tagging. Stop misrepresenting.

Why would you make a perk to be used by a supermajority of the population? That was half the problem with Dead Hard. It was in every single game, several times.

Why do people expect FUN out of the killer's power? It is supposed to be fun for him, not you.

I understand what you are saying but what is the point of reducing recovery time and breaking pallets if the maps are going to get worse?
I also believe that these changes would not be necessary if the maps were balanced but it's BHVR we're talking about...
I have been hearing "maps are bad" for years. I am not really sure what a balanced map would supposedly look like.

-
Survivors just had the base game tilted against them in the form of Killer recovery time and Speed Boost reduction. Adding a few more tiles seems like a gameplay move to try to even that field out.
I think it is worth experimenting with.
-
It is so dishonest to say things like "Nothing was done to help Survivors" when the patch notes literally have buffed some perks for Survivors and nerfed some of the most annoying Killer ones.
I feel like people are sleeping on just what a big deal it is that Ruin breaks on first death now.

The Meta for Killers is still 4 Slowdown-Perks. Just different ones.
So not really an improvement.
I have not faced a single Killer since the update running four slowdown perks. Not a single one.
Unless you have some GROSSLY huge definition of a slowdown perk, I don't think Tinkerer, Insidious, STFBL, BBQ, Lethal Pursuer, or the like to be "slowdown". The last game I just got out of was Bubba running Deerstalker.

Yes. But he IS going to find you. And a strategically positioned Victor will ping you too.
Okay? Just because you screw up at some point doesn't change the design intent. You are not supposed to be caught in a game of Tag either, but if it doesn't happen you don't really have a game.
-
@Firellius said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084499#Comment_3084499
Again, how're you hiding against Victor or the Doctor?
The same way you do any other Killer. Victor grunts like a little snot, and the Doctor is really only going to find you with one power on a very long cooldown that you can hear the charge up for.
-
@Audiophile said:
You’ve finally captured that sense of hopelessness when facing a superhuman killer. Unfortunately that just isn’t very fun. You’ve lost an avid fan until you put out this garbage fire.
And what exactly do you want "put out"? The old meta put back the way it was?
-
@Gorgonia said:
You said you'd keep SC as a decent perk for hard of hearing people until you find a better solution but you made it so that you killed stealth on killers and you also killed the sense of awareness we need when we can't clearly hear TR or other sounds.
I would rather have the old SC back until you find a way for me and a lot of other people to know what's going on around us and you remove the TR trigger. It is unfair for killers and it's unfair for us, because it's bugged and according to it the killer is sitting on my lap every time it starts flickering.
Didn't they buff it to have a visual indicator by filling the perk up based on proximity?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:

Yeah if only that slowdown meta had been nerfed. That Thana buff really messing you up bad, huh?
-
I want to play against a Killer that I feel like I can stay up more than ten seconds against.
That is why I hate Blight. You just DIE.
I'd rather face something like a Nurse, where maybe I can outjuke her, or play the right fake out... then just get run over by Sonic the Blighthog.

@Vetrathene said:
Bring Kindred. Bring Bond. Bring BT and OTR. Hell, bring DS and OTR and they will stack! Sure its only 3 seconds, but then you also have OTR. There are ways to get around it. You just have to be willing to invest if those are the things you are worried about.
What do you mean they stack?
-
@CyberRoninX said:
Killers that keep letting survivors win are doing nothing but messing with the numbers. When killers do this they just pad the metric that the devs are looking at to decide how to buff or nerf things. I personally will waste a killers time instead of them allowing me to escape.

@Firellius said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3084290#Comment_3084290
It originally was, but emergent gameplay tossed that out of the window. How are you going to hide against a Doctor, or Victor? The game has very clearly moved on from that style.
All right, so we've already established that being spotted isn't necessarily the survivor's fault, but how are you going to move away from that gen fast enough without running and leaving a glowing red trail pointing out your location?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3083036#Comment_3083036
You said 'sweaty', not 'BMing'. And what do you propose is done about BMing survivors? Take away the ability to crouch? Or just laser focus on that last line of yours and make sure no survivors (including the perfectly fair ones) can ever win, so you don't have to deal with someone squatting at the exit gate?
Because I can tell you that that would be -really- bad for the game.
Developer's last comment about it being a game of hide and seek is less than one year old.
-
This ISN'T the worst community?
I have not found one worse. Anecdotal, but true from my point of view. People here are insane.

Obviously not, but I don't see the point in certain things like a perk in dbd. It's just a perk that everyone knows the name of, so why bother gussying up the name when putting the two words together gets the job done.
We are reaching levels of such extreme laziness that shouldn't even be possible.

Mostly because it's faster in my case. I don't see a point in doing the capitilization and spaces when people know what I'm talking about. If I were writing an actual thesis it would be a totally different story though. ;P
You.... need a thesis... to use a spacebar?

I'm trying to understand why people think Dead Hard is spelled "deadhard". It isn't one word.
