Stopping the timer to keep the hooked person alive is no good. It sound good in theory but you forget human nature.
There is only two reasons to camp the hook.
First is that the killer is a lot worse then the survivors or is new. They cannot chase and get somebody down, so the hook and wait for somebody to save. This has two problems in that it can be countered and at best you just get a hook exchange, unless you get stupid teammates that try to heal at the hook and the rest of the team have the run while you stand there.
Second you find a toxic killer that is just out to spoil somebodies game. These players don't care about the timer. They will spend all the game just standing there while the survivor hangs. The survivor can't even kill themselves so has to wait for the gens to be done and then get saved or DC.
Then you have the poor killer who hooks somebody and another survivor is close. The killer is not going to want to leave the remaining survivor just to unhook, they want that kill as well.
There is no solution to camping apart from letting new players learn and waiting for the toxic players to move on to another game.

No, they don't unfortunately.
So it's just like those buttons you see in store's and the like, how did we do, green for good, red for bad. No one bothers to check, but it's to calm you down and take your frustration out on.
Play a game with a hacker, leave in a mood, hit report and then just carry on, because the hacker can keep playing.

Survivors are absolutely 'in charge' of the game. They have the initiative, and the killer is forced to react. It's entirely possible to do more than half the gens before the 2 minute mark, and on some maps it's nearly impossible to prevent on some killers.
There are some challenges that are easier on survivor, and some that are easier on killer. That's to be expected. The 'tangled hook' challenges are frustrating as all hell.
That said, flashy or teabagging survivors are annoying as all hell. If you want to be BM, don't complain when I tunnel you down - and bring a mori and some scary addons the next time I see you.
You are having a laugh aint you. I have just done the pumpkin challenge. I did not even worry about the survivors. The tangled hook was easy because you just chase a survivor to the hook you want, because the survivor does not know which hook is which. The tangled gen is marked for the killer. If the killer wants they can just camp that gen and stop any survivor doing it. The survivor cannot avoid the hook and lets not forget that if survivors make offerings to get extra gens, they also add extra hooks.
Survivor challenges - Repair 10 gens, you need a good team or a poor killer. Stun the killer two times, killers can just stay clear of pallets. Unhook 6 survivors, killers camp the hook. Clense 6 totems, killer can pressure you doing totems. The killer can easily stop these. What can the survivor do to stop the killer with their challenges, apart from try their best. Even the killer / survivor challenges are easier for killer. Breaking pumpkins, all the killer has to do is leave the survivors and go do challenge. Breaking pallets again is easy, chase a survivor who drops every pallet but don't catch them, you will end up with every pallet on the map. For the survivor side of it, drop pallets while being chased, the killer only has to hook you and kill you, and no more pallets.
If the killer wants to play hard, you have to play hard. If the killer wants to do challenges, then you can play how you want.

You see if a teamate drop a boon i go to the boon and heal up quickly i dont need to look for another survivor and just like that im back putting pressure on gen and the killer lost all the pression he had on me while the other survivor are still on gen putting pressure until the killer see them
Your problem is that the killer probably knows you where you are going, the either know where the totem is and don't care or you have just showed them. You are healing up while your other teammates are getting downed, gens are being pressured and the rest of the team are doing the saves.
-
Mikaela mains are becoming the scourge of DBD. They put the totem down and think that makes them valuable to the team. They think they are the teams saviour but just become the team joke as they get tunnelled and camped.
-
So they can spy on your posts lol.
On a serious side, could you imagine the mods trying to track all the toxic people on here if people could just keep changing their names.

Alright folks, this lockdown on matchmaking is pissing me off and i have always to wait 25 minutes to be allowed to play again.
Though every time i play a match i am put in matches where i am not given any opportunity to play at all the player that is the killer is constantly bullying and picking on me and i am always being grabbed on and not given any fairness in playing any part of the game at all so i had to quit the match because of that and im being punished for this?
Im not 100% playing this game and this punishment should be removed if we are being bullied in game.
Lets talk straight shall we.
You feel like you are being picked on because you are the weakest player and by the sound of it you are the weakest player because you seem to have no game sense. You state you are grabbed which means that the killer is able to get up close to you without you moving. The killer see's this and although you will not like it, the killers jobs is not to share the hooks, it's to win the game. Depending on who the killer is and the person playing the killer, they may do this by working on limiting the amount of survivors doing gens and the easiest way of doing this is to take a player out, then they only have three survivors to worry about. If you are lucky the killer will share the pain, but this does not make you a better player.
Remember DBD is a power game, the killer gets to call the shots and play their game.
Don't rage quite, look at how you play. Look at things like the character you are playing, the loadout you use, could you get better perks, are you speed vaulting, making noises. Are there perks to quiet the way you play? Watch Youtube videos on how to loop, or even play killer and see how other loop.
If all else fails, look to whether DBD is your type of game or whether you should play something else, because if you are getting 25 minute wait times, you must DC quite a bit.
-
If somebody DC's, who's fault is it. Is it the killers who is then expected to go easy on the survivors? Is it the survivors who the killer has a right to kill? The only person to blame is the person that is selfish enough to DC. Either they are just bad at the game and selfish, rage quit or has done their challenges and again are selfish.
If you are in the position where somebody DC's then you have a simple choice. Play the game and hope that the killer takes pity on you, play the game and hope you survive, making as many XP and BP as you can, or ######### early, get out the game and move on. Why should you lose points and suffer a time penalty for somebody else.
-
The question you should be asking is what it better for playing Dead by Daylight on.
Option 1 - A PC that had a fast 16 core processor, loads of ram, fast powerful graphics card and can be more powerful and faster then any console. Usually a game is played with a keyboard and mouse and can easily run games at high FPS. Normally purchased by serious gamers for FPS and Simulations that need fast processing. Normally run on a monitor that can refresh at 60hz to 240hz.
Option 2 - A Playstation or Xbox, built specifically for games from FPS to platform games. Normally connected to a TV that normally refresh at 60hz. Played with a controller.
Option 3 - A Nintendo Switch. Normally bought by families who play games like Mario and the like. Low power but still able to run DBD. Can be connected to a TV or can be handheld on the toilet. Can use a controller or the little controllers on the side of the console, prone to stick drift.

Some people just want to have normal games, where they actually play like it's supposed. Some don't have the time to learn the best places, to practice looping and such but only want to have a normal game where everyone plays. A lot of the players don't even care about it, it's incredibly demoralizing when someone DCs, pretty much ruins the entire game.
Having to search for a good game, it's not okay. You should be able to play normally. A good game means, where everyone plays the game
I agree that some people want a normal game. The problem is worse at the moment because people are too busy waiting for the save, smashing pumpkins, looking for totems. The solution if you are left trying to do gens while people do other things, and you get caught, is to just ######### on hook. At least you get BP, the killer who could be innocent in the game gets the BP, you get no DC penalty and the rest of the team probably ends up not doing the challenges.
As I said, there is no good reason to DC, there are other ways to get out of a game. People DC when gens are being done, even when it is down to the last gen and somebody is about to get hooked, they DC. This is not because of bad players, this is rage quitting, DCing because they have been beat. It is another form of toxicity on this game that needs to be stopped.

Before you shoot your mouth off please learn how to read. Apparently you fail to see where I say I do not dc because IMO it is pointless. You do not have the authority to tell anyone what makes them happy or assume what can be going on in a persons RL for that matter. If they dc and it makes you mad oh well suck it up buttercup.
Not everyone wanna play a game full of potatoes + toxic killers/survivors. Also for the 3 or 2 remaining survivors why not then all of you just farm each other at that point ? Such a easy solution. Pinched a nerve or something? I even state I was making the claudio and lauri farm when the 2 jakes I caught both dced when I first hook em and having a blast with it. Also stop making it seem as if killers do not dc too, check that vid of mine of how the killer DC because of being outplayed.
Both killers and survivors are so hypocritical, but its no surprise when it comes to PVP orientated games vs PVE ones. But those who let someone DC get to them to me are the ones who should more check themselves. If someone dc on me oh well it dont hurt my ego heck I enjoy the random queue with a bill who kamikaze and cladio that dc, Its a miracle how me and nea ( I was not even using leon my main and using quint with bad perks) we both was able to do all totems, all gens with tons of struggle but we made it work.

Woah, big boy with a big mouth and a little @~$%
So what you are saying is you are allowed to spoil the game for five other people. You think that is OK, a game that the five other people have paid for and spent the time to play. They may not be good and I am sure that you was not at one time, although if you say you DC, it may be that you are the weakest link.
New players have to learn and all they learn from idiots like you is not to try. If you are getting put with potatoes and toxic players, then maybe you are in the low ranks, where new players start and new killers camp and tunnel, because that is what they do before they learn. New survivors get caught easily, they do not know the maps, they do not know how to run loops and they look to other players to help them learn.
If you want to be a potato yourself then go and play something else and leave the adults to play the game.

There can be reasons too sometimes it can be the map, sometimes its a person seeing another fallen down in 10 seconds cause it, or yes this one sound very petty but its also the killer your using and its not really on you, Some people do not like certain killers or maps and will either dc or afk or kamikaze on first hook. Not to throw him out like that but I see this mostly on bubbas who got someone down in 10 sec with chain saw because they did not manage to be in a situation to be near something to block that chainsaw.
So just get on hook, ######### and move to the next game. Or if you don't want to do that, have fun with the killer, practice looping. try to learn the best places.
The only reasons to DC is internet / PC problems, emergency or ........ no, no other reason.

Yeah, thats what I'm trying to do. Minimizing the toxicity. No need to get trashtalked after game when you can avoid it.
But the toxicity is not just after the game, it is in game. To get rid of that you need camp penalties, stop survivors crouching near the game or make a timer inbetween crouches. Make it so that once the gate is open and the survivors cross the line then they cannot crouch. Players will always find away to be toxic. If you are on steam an leave your page open to comments, they will go on their, or even report you.

There's no counterplay to 6 rapid fire blades on most maps. They knew that. Trickster is extremely unfun to verse.
So your argument is that if you are a survivor and you go against a killer you don't like, you should be able to DC and trickster is the main culprit. Then maybe you could explain the match I just had with Doctor and got two DC's just as I went to hook them.
It must be easier to just die on hook, get the BP, then get into the next game without having to wait.
-
There are few like this in killer, where it says hook survivors on Halloween hook, then only reads one whole game and what it really wants is one survivor on different Halloween hooks, so if nobody uses an offering the most you can get in a game is one.
By the time they fix it, most people will have worked through it, I have.
-
Just posted a comment about the same thing
-
Normally tunnel people with flashlights who think it a save all.
-
The problem I think with flashlights at pallets, is that when you are in the animation to break a pallet, you have no control, so you cannot move your head to avoid it, you are stuck with the blind
-
You mean I've been playing Doctor all this time and the survivors where never supposed to be doing vaults. Somebody told me about that and I thought they was joking, because survivors was still vaulting windows.
-
The problem in the game with toxicity is not just in chat, it's the survivors that try and mock the killers by teabagging, even when the killer is just interested in doing challenges. Its the killers that find it fun to facecamp. Its the survivors who run the killers to other survivors to save themselves, or just leave people on first hooks, just to get hatch. Or the killer who slugs and leaves you on the floor to bleed out.
If you play with X-Play you cannot chat between PC and console, but the gameplay is still toxic.
I have been playing online games since Quake and never seen such game that brings out the toxicity in people, although there are toxic people in all online games, this seems to bring out the worse. Maybe its the way people see it as unbalanced or maybe it's because it is more like hide and seek, then run and shoot.
-
Trouble is the licence is not for the film, so you will not get characters from the film
-
I find it's the other way round. You hit somebody who vaults the window or pallet that is already injured. The sound says that you hit them and the animation shows for the hit, you look and the survivor has carried on running. You then have to climb the window or break the pallet which is another animation. By that time the survivor is long gone.
-
I would not worry about it, all the time they are putting boons down and healing, they are no doing gens
-
As a person who plays killer and survivor and is still quite new to the game, I have no problem with tunneling or being tunneled. Sometimes it just happens, you come across the person who has just been unhooked and they are the next person to down. No killer is going to run away from somebody who is already injured and could be out on next hook, just to give the survivors the chance.
Camping is not a problem as long as it is only proxy camping, being in site of the hook, looking for others to chase while watching the hook for the save is fine. As a survivor I don't mind this, sometimes I get saves, sometimes the person who comes to save gets chases and somebody else saves me. As a killer sometimes I get a hook swap, sometimes I get and extra hook and sometimes I lose both, then have the fun of the chase.
These are both valid tactics. The problem comes with killers who stand next to the hook making it impossible to save without somebody taking the hit. Using perks sound good in theory but you can't load up with perks to save being camped on every game just in case.
Killers comment saying they do this just to spoil the game on purpose, like trolls on social media. Then there are the ones that just want to win every game, and the ones that are new and can't catch, so they get the lucky hook and wait, using them as bait.
A solution would be to stop the hook timer when the killer is in a small radius around the hook, somewhere far enough to offer the chance of the unhook, but close enough that the killer can get back. This would give both sides a chance and if the killer really wants to camp they can, but the survivor on hook will never die and the rest of the survivors will be doing gens. Any killer able to play should be able to deal with this.
-
The challenges on the Midnight Grove tend to clear if you reload, so if you finish on one day then reload the next you will have to reselect it, but I haven; seen this on the current tome as of yet, but it may for thers.
Secondly the challenge is worded badly. You do not need to do this on one game, you could do it over four if you want to as long as you and one other person survives, you just need to let them exit first. It just counts the survivor exiting before you. I did it in two games, the first we all escaped so I just stayed inside the gate at the side until everybody was out, which I normally do in case somebody gets caught last minute and needs a save. The second game there was just two of us left and I just went behind the other player.
-
The game is so much fun without the penalty. There is so many ways for the game to finish.
- Do five gens escape.
- Team gets all hooked.
- Rest of team gets hooked, player leaves by hatch.
- Do 2 or more gens with no hooks, get the escaped screen as the killer has disconnected.
- Go in as survivor, watch team member be hooked, disconnect and then try to play game with remaining survivors.
- Go in as survivor, watch the killer camp the hook until the hooked survivor or another player disconnect.
- Watch a player get tunnelled, see the survivor disconnect.
Before with the penalty, your either finished or you knew that whoever left would be punished. I am surprised that the campers are still camping, must be annoying seeing so many survivor just disappearing from the hook before they die.
Maybe it's not the penalty that needs to be there, maybe it is the way people play the game that would stop so many people feeling like they don't want to play. It won't stop all, but at the moment it stupid.
-
Your post says a lot to the killers who camp the hook, that you had more fun in the chase without camping and still got kills. I bet they are surprised you did not get gen rushed because you did hook and stand there.
I've been saying this for a long time, you can still win without camping, get more points and have more fun.
-
Everytime there is a post about the few killers that think it is viable to stand in front of a hook and just wait, come back with the same lame arguement.
I play killer most games and never get gen rushed, the reason why, because I don't camp, I pressure the gens. I keep the survivors running, The time it takes for somebody to leave a gen, run to save, both heal, you could have chased the other two away. And if they are that good that you still lose out on all the gens, then it is down to them just being good. It's not rocket science, while you are stood at the hook, the other two are working on gens, probably with tool kits and "prove thy self".
Gen rushing only happens because of campers who come on here and say what a wonderful tactic it is to stand at a hook, waiting for another survivor to come to them. Then come on here crying that the game is survivor biased, boon totems are two strong, ban medkits, make gens slower. Just look at anytime anybody posts about camping.

Camping an annoying survivor out of the game is fun. The same way fishing is fun and challenging.
Yes I agree, camping an annoying survivor out is fun, but I did not talk about that, I spoke about the ones who only camp because they cannot play the game.
Looking at the post on here, I fear the game is on it's way to dying anyway, with killers crying about boon totems, perks, it being survivor sided. Then when people say anything about camping, then you see the responses that are one here.
RIP Dead by Daylight. It was nice knowing you.
-
See, this just shows the mentality of the players. I don't care if people camp, I die and go onto the next game. I was just trying to help people get the best out of the game. I guess this is why we are getting longer queues now, cause the talent has gone out of the game. Its easy just to camp and gen rush.
Another good game down the pan with poor players. What a shame, let's hope VHS is good.
-
It's not a grind, you just need to play more tactical. The problem is that you end up meeting the wrong sort of players that just go in to get a quick win.
If you are a killer then don't camp and don't tunnel. You get more points for going for different survivors and more hooks, even if you lose the game. Use offerings and perks for more blood points.
With a survivor it's a bit harder because you need to rely on your team. You need to heal, save, open chest, do totems as well as gens. Again use offerings.
Also make sure you do the challenges and compendiums, these are an easy way of getting bloodpoints. And don't forget to look online for free codes for bloodpoints.
-
Play killer, hook one survivor and it will appear. You will see a purple trail, follow that and you will see the Glyph.
-
For what it's worth. I think that she should be able to bless a totem over and over, however it should not be the same one. Just as the survivors can break a HEX totem, then the killer should be able to break this one, Mikaela can then find another dull totem to bless if she wants. This will also make it hard for the killer because in looking for another totem, they may find a HEX.
What I find as a killer is that I just ignore it as it is. I know where it is, I break it once and then if it is blessed again, I avoid that area and spend my time pressuring the gens.
-
There are different types of chat at the end of the game.
- GGs all round - When players play well, somebody gets beat but all praise the good playing.
- Angry talk - Lets be honest, we have all met the killer that hooks somebody and stands in front, because they can't play and it's the only way they can get kills. Or the survivor team with flashlights that find it more fun just to keep blinding the killer then do gens.
- Toxic talk - This is when you have been beat, normally because you are bad at the game, but think you are good.
If you see toxic talk just ignore it. Say gg and move on. If they can't learn to play then they will be the same the next match, and the next one and so on, until they move on to something else.
-
Most killers don't bother with camping, because it is not productive. Staying around the area and being close enough to go for the survivors when they are unhooked is a different thing. The only time killers camp is when the survivor is being toxic, such as just running round the killer using the flashlight every opportunity just to be annoying. Then it is your own fault because you are probably the person that teabags at the gate when you escape
-
How about if somebody DC's then the remaining survivors let the killer win, after all the killer has lost bloodpoint for the hooks
-
What a stupid idea. How would you coordinate who has what? Especially solo queues, it would make the wait for a game longer.
How about a technician, a runner, a support and a rescuer. A technician can be the only one doing gens. The runner has sprint burst, the rescuer has to wait for somebody to get hooked and the support can only heal. I could go against that team as a killer lol
-
Well I have just played three games in a row with killer. Each game was a 4k with 5 gens still left to do. I do not camp or tunnel because I also play survivor and know how that goes. Now either I am so good at this game that I should be awarded the DBD crown of killers, which I am not, the level of survivors is so bad that anybody who plays killer has an easy game, which I don't believe on bit, or the game is more killer sided then survivor sided.
Then again I played some games earlier where the survivors managed to get away, so maybe..... no hold on, could it be that this team was just a bit better then me and I was not that good on that game, and could it be that the last three games was solo survivors that all was thinking of other things and I was just on my A-game, and that the game is a game of skill, knowing where to go, when to do certain objectives and the people who keep whining about it being one sided or the other are just bad at the game, need to grow up and learn how to play the game.
I am fed up of reading post about the game being one sided or the other. Does the game have bugs? Yes. Are there perks that make it easier for killer / survivor? Yes. Can a person who may not be that good just grind the game, get as many bloodpoints as possible and buy as many perks to make it easier? Yes, but that is the game. Most games have things you can do to help win. Look at Paladins where you have card decks, pick the right ones and buy the right items you win, pick the wrong ones you lose. Call of Duty has different weapons you can get. Racing sims have upgrades. If you don't like it then go play something else.
Rant over.
-
The game is unplayable on all platforms, don't know whether it is crossplay
-
@GamerEzra said:
Sometimes the survivors leave you no choice, it's something you only understand if you play killer...
I play as a killer and it is not the only choice. If you can't chase people, catch and hook people then you need to either change the way you play. change killer or practice more. The only reason you catch one person and stand there making sure nobody can save is when you cannot play. It is a way of getting the one kill and only that one kill.
I have played as a survivor and seen this, you get most the gens done with a killer that you lose easily, they get a lucky shot and then camp the hook, forcing the other teammates to leave, just for the one kill, to say that they have not been beat. Get a life, learn how to play the game or go to something easier. You can't really think you are good because you stood at a hook all game.
-
Every online game has problems with hackers, how do you expect the devs to stay on top of it when companies such has Microsoft, Google and even security software companies have problem with it.
Have fun with them, finish the game and move on. If people can only win by cheating, then that is on them. I have just had a game with one survivor killed with three hooks in less time it took to write this, one survivor hooked and then DC'd. then ran I ran the killer losing them 4 times and for most the game, only to get caught and then face camped on the first hook. You could say that is the same as cheating, but it still happens. You just move on to the next game and hope for better.

You have a game that relies on a killer being in the match. You have made it so that it's heavily survivor unbalanced to the point where it's not fun being a killer. The survivors are so OP, that me a player for years, can barely get one survivor a match. I win 1 in 10 matches only if survivors DC or really mess up.
If you think that it is survivor sided then you are very wrong. I play both and find that it's not the game that it one sided either way, it just sometimes the people you get matched with. If you are being beaten by a team of survivors then look at yourself first, as yourself if you could have done something different. Learn to play the game, stop crying.
-
Seriously wonder about the mentality of some people. I just played as a survivor against the worst killer ever, who managed to end up getting a 3K and people say it survivor sided.
I play killer and survivor, some games I get beat by a team of survivors who play well, sometimes I get 3 or 4 kills. Sometimes I am a survivor and I had a great team and we escape, sometimes it feels like I am doing everything to try and save them. It is the nature of the game, you can't win every game. If you are losing lots of games then stop blaming the game for being one sided or the other, look at your own talents, watch some video's. see how you can improve.
If you are a killer and cannot get wins on at least 50% of games, look to another killer or think whether the perks you are actually using can make a difference.
I have friends that play survivor that call the game killer sided and I have friends that play killer that say it is survivor sided.
-
This has been going on for a long time now and nothing changes cause the developers dont care about it, they have said so many times and see it as part of the game.
If you are being camped then just hope your team are doing gens.
-
Sorry, I am a low level killer, only been playing killer for a week, but I have to disagree. Yes there are times when you lose some games because of well organised teams, but a lot of games I can get 2, 3 or even 4 kills with 4 perks. To give 5 perks would make a lot of survivors no chance. This game can already be so one sided with perks for either killers or survivors.
-
So in a game that is already toxic with the game being killer / survivor sided depending on the side you play, you want to make it worse by having killers chasing ghost with auto looping while the team does gens.
How about to even it up, if the perk is used, the killer also gets a illusion that chases the survivors while the killer pressures the gens.
-
Its the people who DC that is causing the problems with the crashing.
I have just played 5 games no problem, not one crash. I then played a game on my PC with 3 console survivors and a console killer. Two survivors DC'd on first hook, then the killer was adamant to get the hooks on un remaining two who had one gen done. The next game it would not load up and crashed.
If there is no penalty for people who DC. then at least award extra bloodpoints for the people who do not rage quit and want to play the game, win or lose.
