End of the second chase, 4 gens are done, killer has 2 hooks. What can he/she do ?
Explain us =)
Try harder next time and hope they get better and learn what they did wrong. Probably staying in chases longer then they should have instead of pressuring gens, or maybe a different load out or different killer.
We fall down so we can get up again and learn by our mistakes. Remember the two benefits of failure. First, if you do fail, you learn what doesn't work, and second, the failure gives you the opportunity to try a new approach.
Or to put another way, if you are beat then you are beat, take the chase points, pallet break points and try on the next game. You don't have to win every game.

"If the survivor is solo queued, why should they sit on hook for a people they do not know."
In that case, why bother helping in any regard for people you do not know? If you are that selfish, why not just queue for killer? What are you possibly getting out of survivor play? Dank QTEs?
I think the same thing, but I see it quite a bit. There are people play survivor that will dc when they are hooked, because they don't care. Many killers have come one here because they have seen it, they get downed first and then DC, or about to go on hook and just DC, instead of trying to delay things or just die on hook.
Then you get the ones who go in and hide all game, only to run to the gate when it opens, no gens done, no saves and or heals, just a clean escape. Why? because they are selfish. They don't care if people are still in the game, on hooks or being chased.
-
There are a lot of reasons that people quit or you may think they quit.
- The epidemic of bad killers who camp. Anybody who actually wants to be able to play the game, but can't because they have been hooked and the killer won't, they just stand close to the hook and even if a player comes over injured they will just leave them to get one hook. If the survivor is solo queued, why should they sit on hook for a people they do not know. In the same vain you can add toxic players that camp thinking it is fun.
- The rage quiting survivor who quits because they believe their team of survivors are bad, maybe one or two have been downed before the first gen, or they have been downed and fear they will be tunnelled and camped, or just think they are out classed.
- The rage quitting killer, the one who is looped while gens are being done, maybe just having a bad game, or maybe the type of person who ends up camping if the get that lucky down, but they can't because the survivors are able to evade them (what a survivor is supposed to do). No chance of a kill, don't want to lose, DC and take the hit.
- They need to do something, maybe they feel ill, thought they could play but can't. Maybe they are young and their parents call them, or they have a family and end up having to leave.
- Hardware / Software problem. Lets be honest, the connection to the DBD servers is not great or the most secure. Add in the game network such as Steam or PSN and you add another layer to worry about. Then you have the ISP, network issues in some places can be bad. Then you have the hardware that it runs on, PC's freeze and crash.
- Cheats. The scourge of DBD.
-
I already have representation in the game because I am a serial killer lol.
On a serious note, I know that many people feel like they like to represented and I think that is great, more media should do this. We may be different in ways, but we are the same underneath and everybody should be treated equal.
If you do not agree with this, then please respect other people. This is not a killer v survivor thread. This is people's lives in real life. Some people struggle for years to come to term with they way they are, which also causes other issues. Then they have to live with knowing that there will always be someone who does not agree, and will voice that loud and clear. Please don't let this forum be that place.
I am a male, but play the game with whichever character I want to, some people are not like that and want a character to play to represent them. These people should be allowed that chance without criticism or judgement. Everybody should be treated equal, if you can't do that, then just don't comment.

This is such a funny post, this is one of the bait post isn't it?
I mean if all you have to moan about is the survivor using what little they have to try to evade the killer, which is the aim of the game for there side, then that is a you problem.
Have you ever played survivor? Probably not. Most killers that come on here have never gone into a game with teammates you have no idea how they play, or how good they are. With perks that can be countered with killer addons, and had to try to escape a faster killer chasing them, with a third person view instead of a trusty first person view, whilst trying to find hidden objects. They have just loaded up on perks, spawned into the game and had highlighted gens to head for, then followed red marks leading right to the survivor, who they catch up quickly because of the speed difference.
Please BHVR, make it so everybody has to play equal sides to stop all this nonsense.

Or, just let people play how they want.
Got no problem with people playing how they want. All I said was that this post would get the usual excuses of why people camp, which it has and I was proved right.
If people want to camp then they can and like I said, my advice to survivors is to just do gens. If a killer wants to camp and get one hook and one kill, then leave with three escapes and little to show for it they can. No skin off my nose. I will happily carry on not camping and getting 3 and 4 kills, or even losing and getting more blood points and pipping up, or play survivor, doing gens with no interference and then escaping with no worries. If I am the unlucky person to get camped, then my teammates will know just to leave me and I will waste as much time as I can.

Well thank you for showing me a video about the new killer. I mean we will forget about all the other killers in the game, and the amount of people who play the game and actually loop.
But it's nice to know what sort of person you are. You make me proud to be me and know the people I know.
I could quote every comment that said that you are wrong, but that would just be a waste of time.

Here we go again. Another post full of arguments.
Killer - I camp because I cannot chase survivors, they are too powerful, they can loop, drop pallets and vault windows. They do gens too quick, even though I have so many perks to slow them down, one shot them and stop them leaving when they have five gens.
Survivor - I do gens because the killer is too busy camping. I don't want to leave a teammate on the hook, it's not fair on them. I try to lure them away but they just stand there.
I worry about the DBD community. I have seen killers use this usual excuses of why they camp. Some say it's at low levels, some say it is at high. I play killer quite a lot and never camp, yet I get 4 kills most games, the ones I lose I get plenty of hooks and have fun. I have seen streamers and Youtubers online, who do play at high level that do not camp, so personally I see no reason to camp unless you are not too great, in which case practice. Stop camping and learn the maps, learn the loops, learn how to play mind games, to drive the survivor where you want them to go, to force them to drop pallets early in the game to help you later.
For survivors it's the same advice that is always, you have to sacrifice and just do gens. You will not change the way these players think, you can argue to truth till you are blue in the face. You just have to face that there will so games where somebody will spend the whole game on the hook.
-
I think a lot of people are feeling the same way.
So many threads asking for BHVR to respond, yet a wall of silence about everything.
I said a while ago, if BHVR carry on with the way thing are going, this game is going to have a slow death, especially when VHS goes live. I wonder how many people will jump ship. Youtubers are already raving about it while complaining about DBS and many fans will listen.
Come on BHVR, just answer peoples questions. Tell your userbase what you are doing to stop cheating, help with security, fix bugs and problems with the games.
All the silence is losing players and the ones remaining are just arguing on here, or being toxic in game.
-
Playing at certain times always affect the people you play against or with. Times when people who work come home, time when school finishes, time zones if different area's all affect who is online. The key is either work harder, or just avoid them.
-
You seem to be under the strange impression that BHVR actually care about you and your experience. They have your money, they are not interested in you unless they can ram DLC in your face.
I am a long time gamer, I won't say how old, let's just say that I played Quake and Doom, when the main way of playing multiplayer was to take your PC to a LAN meet. At that time you bought a game and that was all you needed, there was no DLC, no skins, no loot boxes, you played. Updates would come regularly with bug fixes and new content free of charge, either by the net or by CD Rom. You would play the game for years, in fact Quake still has servers running, look at CSGo.
Then games became this regular source of income. Game quality started to deteriorate and DLC, Loot Boxes and extra paid content came the new way. A bit like timeshare, why sell once when you can sell over and over.
So the question comes as which is most profitable, look at EA's model. Fifa, gets released as a brand new game every year, but the old ones still have bugs. Look on Sims 4 forums and see the bugs they have, yet they have a multitude of Expansion, Game and Stuff packs all at extra cost. BHVR have released Pinhead and Mikaela in the last couple of months and are now set to release another DLC. There teams are working on this because it makes them money, release fixes to improve your game does not. The new MMR system proves that people who play do not matter, because it is designed to help new players.
Even the new killer and survivors help new players. Spent years learning how to loop? Well forget that because we have a killer to kill loops, a killer that can trap you in the shack and your only way out is death. Playing survivor but constantly hit because you are new? Here are some boons to help, one to stop you leaving tracks, one to help you heal and a new one that helps you up when you have recovered. You don't have to be able to play to win, you just have to pay to win. If you are winning, you don't care about the bug.
I posted a thread an asked BHVR to actually respond to what they are doing about the bugs in the game, if anything and met a wall of silence.
I wonder why that is.

Because the killer is only 15% faster, so it takes long enough that by the time they get to you the gens are flying. I guess you're calling every streamer and high tier killer player "bad" lol.
The gens are the escape objective, the only thing they intended was for you to drop a pallet and keep running straight. It was poorly designed and thought out, but ask the devs not me.
Looping wasn't "added" its just a byproduct of map design.
" see if they think that is a better idea."
They have stated the strength of survivors running forward and just dropping pallets, so maybe you should watch more of their videos and pay more attention.
If the survivor turns a corner the killer also has to turn that corner, they don't turn less. They lose speed either way.
You use the vaults and pallets to keep running forward. It is the meta for a reason, you're ignorance/newness is showing.
I'm really not bothering to try to explain. There are enough people on here telling you that you are wrong. If you don't want to learn then just carry on as you are.
As people have told you, if you are a losing people running in a straight line, that's a you problem.

"looping was intended as the way to escape"
Looping was never intended to be part of the game. It came along due to the bad map design. The perspective difference is there because they intended the game to be closer to hide and seek. By the way, killer also slows down for a moment when switching directions.
Holding W is definitely an option. Killer takes too long to catch up, again its literally the meta right now.
I don't get your point. How is running straight with a faster killer behind you, watching you just run straight until you hit a wall, going to help you escape. Surly looping behind walls, jumping windows and using pallets to give you extra space will help better. I have played against "w" survivors, they don't take very long to catch, in you can have a couple before the first gen, however I have looped for 2 or three gens, before losing the killer. If you are a killer that loses to somebody running in straight line then you are not a good killer.
As to the perspective angle, I highly doubt that when the developers came up with the idea of the game, they sat down and thought "I know, we have all the first person shooters, a good game of hide and seek would be great", in that case why have gens, why have tool boxes and med kits, why hooks and why a horror them. You say loops was added, then the hide and seek would have been a very boring game, with just a big field. Spawn in, look over map, found you, next game.
Yes holding 'w' is and option, after looping and when you have made some space, to get to the next loop, to the next window or pallet or just when the killer has lost you.
I personally think you need to sit down with youtube, watch people like Ayrun, JRM, Otz, or the many other DBD Youtubers, as killer or survivor, see how many of them run in a straight line, see if they think that is a better idea.
If you are playing killer and losing people who run in a straight line then you are having a very bad day. If you are a survivor and your play is to run in a straight line then you are probably hit a lot.
As regards to the killer slowing down when switching directions, you just made my point. When you run in a straight line the killer is faster, as soon as the survivor takes a turn, the killer does not have to turn much, they slide, keeping up speed. Go to a loop and the killer is slower, they can't vault windows fast, the can't vault pallets, it takes time to break them or go round.

@MrPenguin said:

I gave you a solution to your problem, holding W in a straight line is literally the meta right now, so that is how you run from someone. The best counter play available to this killer and other anti-loop killers is to leave loops and hold W. If they are anti-loop then stop trying to loop, that doesn't make them unbeatable. Good survivors beat them just fine, so no survivors don't "need" more defenses, the ones they have are more than enough if played correctly.
The Highest tier players in the game are losing to holding W, so no its not a "me" problem lol. If using the meta strat on the stronger side you still can't win against killers, that's a you problem not a problem with the survivors defenses.
Holding 'w' is not an option for two reasons, the killer is faster and the killer does not have to turn to avoid obstacles, the simply slide sideways. By the nature of the way the game was built, with killer in first person and survivor in third, looping was intended as the way to escape. Loops help the survivor because they have a bigger picture of the surroundings, the killer does not. Survivors can turn and see where they are going before they turn, killers can only see forward. By adding killers who can kill loops, it is changing the games dynamics.
-
Indoor maps are just wrong. Boons should work on one floor, unless it is in the house on an outdoor map, in the same way that the heart beat of a killer should work on one floor only. It is so annoying when you are working on a gen and then somebody runs below in chase. If the killer is nearby then that's fine, but if it is going to take the killer to run round the map, then find stairs, to try and come back to you, then they are not close.
The problem with boons is that on indoor maps, they then double in places to heal, this is why some swf teams have two of them and put offerings for indoor maps, it basically makes fours area's of healing, two on each floors. Add in some tool boxes and prove they self, and you have no chance. These are the players that often teabag because they think they are good, but only when they have the boons and three other teammates to protect them.

I wasn't talking about running across the map to heal but to lead the killer away from gens that need to be done. If the killer takes that chase with 1-3 gens left he will most likely lose all the gens left but he can chose to leave the chase knowing that survivor is injured and he can find them later injured or at least 1 other player has to not do gens to heal you. CoH completely stop all that because if the survivors can heal them self as if there is another player doing it while the other survivor is off doing anything else to progress the game.
Yes killers complain about gen speeds and then run slow down perks it would be weird if they didn't.
Most exhaustion perks extend the chase by alot when the killer needs to make them as short as possible. You do realize the killer is literally .4 or .6 meters faster than a survivor.
Ok now this one is a big one and is really really important play more then 30 minutes as killer and then form an opinion.
OK first point. If the survivor is running across the map to heal, then like you said, you don't have to chase, you can go and pressure the other gens. That survivor can easily find a medkit in a chest and heal, or not even heal, just loop the map and get on another gen. This is why as a killer, I don't get into long chases. I would rather loose a survivor and pressure the gens. You can also run NoEd, so even if they do heal, come the end game, that survivor can go down with one hit. Also a lot of survivors run adrenalin, so when that last gen pops, they heal anyway.
I don't get your second statement. If you are running something to slow gen speeds, which are not fast in the first place, I mean a hook stage is quicker, why worry about boon totems for a heal. The whole reason for gen slowing is to give you extra time, that is what boons do.
Exhaustion perks have a limited time, they run out and then take a while to regenerate. The killer is faster all the time, they do not give chase and then get worn out.
Now the last one. before rank reset, my killer was Iridescent three, my survivor was Gold two and I was one of the unlucky ones who got the extra rank reset mid month, so I assume that is well over the 30 minutes as a killer. I have played killers with one perk, no gen slow down perks, just a basic perk that comes with the killer, and got 4k's without camping hooks. So maybe you should take some of your own advice and go play survivor. When you have both killer and survivor into at least Gold, come back and give me your opinion on both.

Snowballing is a bad idea. Boon effect gen speed because it allows one person to heal as if someone else is healing them and the frees up a person to be on a gen and all 4 survivors can you it. Its actually a bad idea to stick to certain chases if they are in a really strong loop or run half way across the map away from any gens after you hit them you should probably drop that chase
I have to disagree. A survivor who runs across the map, away from gens to heal is a waste on time as they are not doing gens. It is much quicker for the injured survivor to run to a gen and either heal if there are people there and help on the gen, or start another gen and wait for a heal. Plus I find very few teams actually put a boon up now, as some players try to loop around it so they are close, and as it makes a loud noise, it takes two seconds to snuff it out.
Even when there is no boon totem, killers still camp and with any killer they want to use, then use boon totems, gen speed (which they normally use a perk to slow them), survivors using exhaustion perks (when the killer is already faster) and anything else they can think of as an excuse.
I have just had two killer games in a row, not once have I had to camp and guess what, they was both 4k and we had a great time in end chat, thanking each other, no toxicity at all.
-
Come off it, you are telling me that you have never seen selfish players on DBD?
I can't remember how many times I have done gens, saved a survivor to see them crouching round the map, then when all five gens are done, they are out like a shot, leaving anybody down or on hook without a care in the world.
This is DBD. Sometimes you get good teammates, sometimes they are bad but try and sometimes they are selfish. Sometimes killers face-camp and then stand hitting you on hook, sometimes they hook and leave.
It could be that they was really new at the game and scared of getting hit, then happened on the hatch. I say could be, but unlikely.
-
I haven't played long, only a couple of months both killer and survivor. I purposly don't play killer to camp, yes I will proxy camp if the if needed, I will only tunnel as a last resort. If I find somebody I have just unhooked, I will down them but leave them to be saved. May be my downfall, but most games I get 3 or 4k. Some I win, some I only get 1 or 2k.
I can load up my killers any way I want, whether I want to find people, give chase, slow gens or save the kills for the endgame. I can have different builds and change when I see the team. Flashlights, add LightBorn. Toolboxes, Ruin, Pop or any number. Want easy downs at the end NoEd gets run.
When I play survivor I have just a few to pick from. Many survivors I have not even started to level up because I don't need to, as they have no good perks. I cannot see the killer to know who I am going against, I cannot change to suit, I have to wait till we are in game. If I take tools, then I could lose them with Franklins.
Killer players who come on here and start shouting that it is survivor sided, should try playing survivor. Many have not, killer is definitely easier then survivor, more profitable for BP and easier for challenges.
When it comes to maps, this depends on the killer. Indoor maps are easier for killer, big out door maps can be easier for survivor. Loops, well that depends on how good the players are.
-
There is a simple answer to this and that is because a lot of killer players cry about everything that does not suit.
Survivors escape - Gens are too fast.
Have to camp at 4/5 gens - Survivors can loop too easy.
Have to tunnel - Survivors have DH
General thinks:
- Mikaela's Boon Totems
- Med Kits
- Flashlights
- Tool kits
- Any survivor perk
- Having four survivors and 16 perks.
- They have no good perks, nothing like "Ruin", "Barbeque and Chilli", "Corrupt Intervention", "Pop", "Tinkerer" and the rest.
Simple solution if you want to level up a survivor, play a few games of killer, load up with perks, get a few hooks, let the survivors leave and get over double the amount if you would get if you do all five gens and exit.
I play killer a lot of the time and get loads of BP even without addons, when I play survivor I do a lot, exit and wonder why, even with perks and addons to help, never get much BP.
Most I got as killer is about 95K, most I got as a survivor is about 35K. Won both games and did the same amount of work.

It's not about which side has its easiest, the issue I see is killers will play the optimal way to play every match. Currently camping and tunnelling is the best way to secure kills. So even if generator times were doubled to fix gen rushing, killers will actually camp more, not less. They need to either completely change the design of dbd, which of course risks breaking the formula that most of the community wants or put in harsh punishments for playing in such a way that robs all players of an actual match.
Lets be honest though, DBD will never change as everyone says "I will only stop doing "x" once "Y" is fixed. Nobody wants to be the change and are actively punished or harassed for daring to want the game to improve.
I have no problem with tunnelling, it can be a good strategy, if a team is strong and you need to take somebody out. It's not nice but then is neither not letting them leave. I also have no problem with camping, as long as it is proxy camping. That you are willing to make the chase if you get one hit on the rescuer and they run away, unless you can see another one coming in, but again you have to be willing to give chase. I hate it when killers take the easy option of standing next to the hook and just waiting for the unhook, just to swipe.
I once played against a trickster who hooked in the basement. He then loaded up with knives and stood in basement, anybody came in he stood at the stop of the stairs and threw knives, turns out he had two addons, one was ricochet, the other reduced the amount of knives for a down. This was on 4 gens. Of course we did the usual thing of swapping hooks till the gens was done, two hooks and then sacrificed the last person. No big deal for us, but the killer got more BP, how does that make sense?
The game is flawed by rewarding this play. There are plusses and minuses on both sides and when people lose, they blame everybody else, instead of looking at themselves and improving.
Your right in that the game wont change, it can't. Bring out a new killer that stops the killer mains moan, the survivors moan. Bring in a new survivor like they did with Mikaela, and the killers moan. So they bring in a new OP killer that can stop loops, wait for the survivors.
And yes, there are many players on both sides that takes the easy option. Killer who face-camp, survivors who hide just to get the exit, or run the killer to somebody on a gen to lose the killer.
The game is on sale most places and free on Xbox Game Pass, so it is attracting very new players.

Just because I am the supposed bad guy here doesn't mean I am less talented than you. I am probably the greatest survivor player in this game. I can loop any killer for an eternity. My mere existence on its own is enough reason to buff most killers. So the point here is git gud, you are not as good as you think. You tell me you face respected streamers and youtubers. Eh I hardly believe anyone in this thread can improve themselves considering how blind they are. All they do is screaming tunneling this camping that, this game killer sided and all that nonsense while they are playing at the absolute lowest MMR and expecting fun matches
Well maybe you are on a low MMR, but I don't know how you have access to other people's MMR, or are you just assuming that to try on make your point.
I'm guessing considering how many people are members of this forum and how many people play DBD, I am sure that not everybody on here is a low MMR, also considering that many times I play, I end up against well respected streamers and Youtubers who have thousands of hours in the game, but still meet killers that camp and tunnel for five gens.
But what ever you tell yourself to make your ego feel better, while you are crying that survivors get a game suited to them.
-
The new killer is definitely a loop killer, I said this when I saw somebody putting birds over a pallet. Then somebody made a video about shack where they was able to put birds out on the two exits and the window. The survivor had no choice but to go in shack, running through the birds and getting first hit. They then had two choices, run out through the birds and get downed or stand there, the killer did not even have to make a swing.
This is a knee jerk reaction to all the killer players that cannot loop or chase, then say it's survivor sided and that's why they camp.
I have played this game daily for 2 months as both killer and survivor equally. Killer I win 90% of my games with a 3K or 4K, even with killers with one perk. Survivor I win 50% of my games with all perks.
Pinhead is a joke to play against, he can take all distance you have made from a killer with his chains, Pyramid head can hit through walls, Trickster can have ricochet and on indoor maps, does not even have to aim at you. They make really bad players have an easier life.
I'm not complaining, the game is the game and you have to just find new ways to beat them, play different depending on the killer, but then you just get every killer type camping.
I think BHVR are listening to all the poor killers on here, who keep saying it survivor sided, trying to cater for the new players, instead of thinking about the core game and the long standing players.
It's a shame because I have some good and enjoyable games, not camping, having chases against good players. I have some very poor chases against bad players, these are normally the ones who drop a pallet, teabag and then get downed seconds later, only to be the first to die.
I also have had some good chases with good killers, and get downed but at least they don't camp and tunnel. These players get my respect and admiration. Then you meet the streamers that blatantly camp, just to get wins. One major one holds the record for the most wins with pig, who every time we meet camp the hook.

Just give up man. I've tired making the same post before. Every killer says the same thing "But gen rushing." Killer's don't care about fun, they want to win. They say but getting gen rushed is not fun, but lets be real, killers will still tunnel, even if the game is in their favour. I genuinely do not know how a person can enjoy going back to the same hook every 3 seconds or going after the player that has no way of escaping, but they don't want fun, they want survivors to feel frustrated. They have said this, they don't care if survivors are having fun, well great then lets all have a miserable time together, and then they act surprised when survivors teabag at the exit gate. Remember killers set the meta, survivors then respond, with the new killer having insane anti loop powers (honestly broken) killers are going to say "but she's weak in map pressure therefore not op." Survivors will then respond with the new exhaustion perk overcome and killers will then complain that survivors are just running in a straight line with no way to counter it. As long as you play DBD you just have to learn to run DS/ BT on all of your builds.
Well said.
The problem is that there are too many killers that cannot play the game. They pick killer thinking that is the best roll, load up with all the best perks to slow down gens and things, then think it's a way of getting easy kills. Then they meet players who play survivor all the time and have probably played against better killers who can loop, and survive.
Then the excuses come out because they spent so much time chasing one survivor that the team must have gen rushed, or it's perks because a survivor managed to lose them.
Lets take a look at just a couple of perks that are really OP against a survivor - "No One Escapes", the ability to one shot a survivor when they finally manage to do all five gens, this alone can be a game changer. Any killer that can't at least get one kill just with this perk is either against a very good team or is having a really bad day. "No Way Out", the ability to stop survivors opening gates for a time, add that with NoEd and it even gives you more time for those one shot kills. Then there is "Blood Warden", The ability to stop survivors even more by blocking the exit even when the gates are open. I have know killers use two of these and get a 4K letting all five gens to be done.
Maybe if killers stop crying about how one sided the game is for killers, stopped looking for excuses and actually learned how to loop, how to play mind games, they would start winning without these tactics.
If I can play a low level Pig in RPD, not tunnel, not camp, even allow them to keep picking each other up when they are slugged, and get a 4K, then it's not survivor sided.

Lag is your fault, camping and tunnelling is all low skill survivors fault for causing so many nerfs that it is the only way to win sometimes and it isn't a true win because they usually don't make a single pip.
Lag is my fault? and the fault of three other people on three other networks with three other service providers? Do you actually know what lag is and how the internet works?
And camping and tunnelling is the survivors fault, not because of low skill killers who can't chase and end up taking the easy option, I guess.
You make me laugh so much. The excuses poor unskilled killers will come to when they try to cover how they play.
-
You could ask the question, why can killers DC when they're not winning, which they do alot.
Maybe the survivor can see the way the game is going, maybe they know that they are going to be tunnelled so bad, that the killer even gives up on swinging for people stood right in front of them, or they are with a team of strangers, and they are on hook with the killer camping them. Maybe they want to go to the toilet and don't want to waste somebodies time saving.
-
My view is the game makes me laugh. It has a lot of problems with hit boxes, game mechanics, balancing and so on, but I just take it has fun. If a player is toxic, then it is funny, like a reality show that purposely set out to cause trouble for entertainment. Not that I do things on purpose, but some survivors get salty cause you just killed them, some killers get salty if you out loop them and escape.
If I get hit and it was something stupid then it is like slapstick TV. If I am in an unbalanced game the it pushes me to improve and if I lose, then at least I have not been beat by somebody worse then me. If its the other way round then I help other players to improve or escape, it makes me feel useful.
We are gamers, we are born to try to win, the thing is to learn that it is just a game.

@Kikki said:
Tbh then something about "Gen rush" should also be done.
"Gen rush" = Tunneling
But with the Camping I agree only under special requirement that the Killer is camping without a need. Means no hook swarming Survivors, end game isn't active, Killer isn't in a disadvantage with the number of Gen's("Gen rush" and not doing bones).
There should be a mechanic implemented against unsessesary Camping.
Gen rushing is a cop out. It is an excuse for killers to justify camping and tunnelling. I am more a killer main then a survivor main. I have no reason to camp and tunnel most of the time. Yes there are a few times when you are down to three gens and really need to lose a player, but by that time most players have been hooked once or twice, unless they are a hider.
If you are being gen rushed it's because you are spending too much time in a chase with a person who is better then you.
You have options, play a killer with quick movement speed to get from one gen to another, this way you can pressure gens, especially with ruin and another perk that slows gen progress. If not make sure you kick gens. Go a bit more stealth and work on getting the first hit early and make sure you force them to drop pallets and break every one. Try to make them three gen themselves, then patrol these three gens, especially good with hag because you can set traps around them. Get these out early on and the later gain is harder because of less loops. If you fail add Noed and No way out. It gives you time for one hits while they try to get the gate open. Another option is to go for pig, put traps on, this slows the gens for fear of heads exploding.
There are teams that will get gens done quickly and escape, but remember that you get more bloodpoints. XP and emblems if you hook more then they escape, then if you hook one and tunnel one. I am not saying that if the injured survivor that has just been rescued is like a deer in headlights, don't get the hook, just run away, although I have slugged them and gone off, leaving them to heal if the team is bad, just don't make it a priority.
-
There is always going to be a problem with swf which is hard for BHVR do deal with.
Take the matchmaking first. a swf could be two, three or four people. Lets say that we grade each person on skill, old style. One player is Iridescent 1, another is Gold 4, the third is Silver 3 and the last is a new player and on the lowest level. What level of killer do you match with? Do you go for the lowest to give the new player a chance, or do you go for the highest to give the killer a chance? You could go for the average, but some then this will lead to one player looping the killer who is mid rank, leaving the others to do gens.
Then you have the communication issue. Are all the team talking, telling each player where the killer is, or where to find a totem? Ever wonder how Mikaela can find a totem so quick, because she has eight eyes looking, or how survivors know where to go to get healed? Are all the team communicating? There are times when I will play with three friends, but only two of us are on call.
Then you have the perk situation. When we play as a team we all run our own game, we use perks that suit us, not so the team. We work together to help each other, but we don't build perks as a team because we play games with other people most of the time.
Then the biggest thing is are they actually a swf team. I have played solo queue matches and we have worked together to escape, never selfish, thinking of where somebody is, watching when they get chased and if they need help or time to heal.
-
So if I understand the thread properly, people are deciding to face-camp because a somebody on the survivor team has pressed a button that makes the character animation crouch, or flash a flashlight?
They don't really know what the survivor is trying to say with these actions. There is a simple way not to get tea-bagged at the gate, and that is not to go. Go around the map looking for pallets or doors to break.
The players that do it because they think it is fun, then well, there will always be people in life like that. It is why there are so many bad things in real life. If that is the only source of fun in your life, then my heart goes out to you. Things must be really hard in your life.
I myself will never play like that, I can normally get at least a 2k without camping, most the time more, after all when you have got two out, even the last gen and gate is harder for them. I enjoy the chase, sometimes I get beat but most the time they are just runners that drop every pallet on the way. I get more XP. more BP, more pips. Maybe killers that camp should try it, but don't just give up after the first few games, it takes practice like all games and sports. Or not if you don't care, no skin of my nose.
I have just played a game with one of my lowest killer to do a challenge with basement hooks, I didn't pressure gens, I was not even interested in kills. Of course I had no choice by to proxy camp basement, it was no good going too far away. There was one toxic player that tea-bagged around the map. I wanted to apologise for the camping so I let them do gens and opened the gate, letting them leave. Even then this player tea-bagged. I just though how stupid he was, he would have left laughing, thinking that I was actually chasing him and he lost me, thinking he was so good, when I did not want to go to far from basement, then when he comes against a killer on a higher level, he will see he's not so great. It did not worry me, I got my challenge done, my BP and moved to the next game. It was not me with the problem, the same as the end chat when survivors and killers get salty. This survivor obviously felt threatened and wanted me to be wound up and chase him, maybe he had a bad childhood, maybe this was his only thing in his life and wanted to feel like he was in power.
-
OK. Lets put this camping thing to bed.
Firstly there are different types of camping and some people get confused, so lets clear this up. Hooking somebody and standing or moving directly around the hook, or guarding the basement and the entrance to basement is face-camping. Your main task it to stop anybody going near the hook and heaven help anybody that dare. You do not give chase, you just don't want them close, your goal is to hold fire until the time runs out and you get your kill. Proxy camping is a wider area, where you are actively looking for somebody else who may be close, if they come in two or more, there is a chance that somebody will rescue, you are willing to go on the chase or back to the hook if they are there. There is a big difference, most survivors enjoy and respect the second, they hate the first. Then there is no camping, where you hook, then run to your next victim or gen, survivors love this and is probably the one that will be most enjoyable.
Secondly, as anybody plays survivor knows, there are three, possibly four actions you can do as a survivor apart from the ones you need for your task. You can point, ask to follow, teabag or if they have a flash light, click. Survivor use these to signal each other. Many times I have used a flashlight to call somebody to heal or do gen. I teabag when I need healing or have been healed, just because the survivors wait at the gate to signal to you, you don't have to get defensive and think it is bad, they could just be signalling a good game, or thanks. Many survivors will allow you to get the one last hit and let them crawl out. If you ace camped then it could be something different. If you play in the EU, end chat can be useless due to different languages, signals in game are quicker and easier.
Now the title of this thread was a killer challenging survivors to play killer, I wonder how many killers have played survivor and have spent that game getting tunnelled and camped. Maybe the game should make you play both sides. I have heard survivors moan about being tunnelled or killers being OP and killers moaning about being looped and survivors being OP.
And please remember that it is just a game. In the words of Mr Miyagi in Karate Kid, "Win lose, no matter"
-
I've played loads of games with different killers and played like that. Most of the time the survivors appreciate not camping, there are the few swf teams that load up on perks to play together all the time, that they just get toxic all game. It does not bother me, I just pressure gens and mess around. I get no hooks or kills, they get very little BP and don't pip up. I have fun just messing around and they get there backs up.
If they teabag so what, it does not change my life, it does not decrease my points. If they start getting anti it the endgame chat, I just say ggs and move on.
I'd rather have fun on my terms then just be bored standing by a hook to get one kill
-
Being able to exit the game instead of bleeding out is like a DC. Sometime the killer will leave you on the ground to bait out the last survivor, if you are dead on hook, before the hatch spawns. Sometimes I do it because the hook that is closes is gone with a death, and the nearest one is too far away. If the survivor wiggles I will lose them. and sometime I will do it because the team is so bad, I would rather let them heal then take the player out.
As regards to survivor entitlement, that's just ridiculous. The entitlement on this forum goes both ways. Killers moan about survivors, survivors moan about killers.
I played a game as a survivor in Hawkins, the killer was trickster with lots of perks to slow down gens perks to help with knives, addons to lesson the knives needed and to ricochet. It took no skill to just spam the knife throwing, it was like aimbot. Then at the end of the game he started screaming that it was survivor sided, we could not do gens because they was so slow, we could not run down corridors, because he did not even have to aim at us, so how is that easier for survivor.

If I didn't camp and tunnel them they would have gotten out without getting hooked at all. They were already clicking and tbagging at me long before I started to play like an #########. Genuinely, I blame BHVR for this since this sort of behavior comes from knowing they won't ever get punished either by the company or the killer they are facing. There I was trying to play fair and get my legion daily done, but the survivors forced me to play like ######### just to get -anything- out of them. Just showed me why I hardly bother to play killer anymore, the last 2 months I made it to iri 1 but I haven't even bothered to reach gold this time around. Iri 1 as survivor 3 months in a row though, ezpz.
I feel you pain. Have seen teams like this before. When I see teams like this I just think how lonely they must be, sat at home with no real friends but thinking they are amazing, because they have friends to carry them in the game. Probably spend all the hours they have trying to get every good perk they have, then sitting making a team loadout, including boons,
I just walk around making sure they know that I am not interested in getting the kills, so if they win it takes the shine away. Then I run around, getting pumkins, breaking gens, then letting them carry on and breaking doors, they get no chase BP or save BP, I don't have to camp, tunnel or chase. I may not get many BP, but it hurts them just as much and I don't get stressed.

Description of Dead Hard from DBD Wiki
When Injured, tap into your adrenaline bank and dash forward quickly to avoid damage.
- Press the Active Ability button while running to dash forward.
- Avoid any damage during the Dash.
That second point is the bone of contention. "Avoid any damage during the dash". This is not what is happening, avoiding damage during a dash to me means a miss. You swing and if they are in the dash, you miss. It does not mean that you can be hit but it makes no difference. This is the problem, that the survivor not only gets a big warning and in the time it takes to activate DH with no skill check, they can be away, where the killer not only missing, but getting a successful hit registered. The same problem with windows and pallets, it registers a hit for the killer and a miss for the survivor. On the other side it registers a hit will a survivor pallet drop or flashlight, even when it missed.

Or you know what else you can do if the killer is camping do gens
Yeah, just do gens while you watch a teammate just die on hook. It takes about 120 seconds to die on a hook. It takes 80 seconds for a gen to be done, so even three survivors, providing they all start a gen as soon as the killer hooks and then magically teleports to another gen is 160 seconds, but they never teleport, which means a good camper could be luck and get two hooks before gens are even finished, even better if they have a gen slowdown. Then add on gate time, which the killer probably brought Noed and possibly no escape, and that could be a 3 or 4 kill.
But I guess that is the way the game was designed to play. Forget teamwork, just escape at anycost as long as the killer has the best and easiest way to win.

No, you don't understand. Someone face-camping (the literal term) won't even allow the person to unhook. So again, this only hurts proxy camping.
Yes somebody who really want to tunnel may eventually get that person down, the same as with Borrowed Time, but it would give the survivor time to at least try and escape. So, nothing would change? Don't really get this point.
And wdym Borrowed Time isn't used every time? You see atlest one borrowed time every game!
I do understand. The person camping will not let them unhook, or at least will try because a person with BT can save them, but will then be hit twice and hooked, once on the run up and once during the unhook. The killer will get two hooks for the price of one, until somebody else tries.
By having a perk that stops the killer being able to hit on the save, even just once would help the situation. If both survivors escape, they then have to chase another one, or the same one, but it would not be a case of hook one and stand there till they die.
Proxy campers do not stand by the hook, they know there is a good chance of a save because survivors can normally come in pairs. Chase one, then another one saves. Face-campers stand close to the hook, to hit people in groups. One goes in, gets hit and then goes out because they know they will be down under the hook, so another comes in and gets in to try, but knows that same thing.
-
The problem with DH is not DH itself, it is by definition a dash and if you get hit, you can take it. The problem with DH is the way it is implemented and it changes with ping and lag. Lets say a killer goes for the hit, you get the hit because your signal registers the hit, you hear the sound, you go through the animation. The problem is that the survivor hears the swing but not the hit, they hit DH and powers away like you missed. They are getting the signal early and so can perform the action.
Before a miss timed DH would have been a down, now so many players can use it because the signal to DH is there, they don't have to see how close you are they can hear you, when you swing they run, but on the killers side they have not run yet, you have got the perfect hit.
Basically the signal to hit goes from your client, it then goes to the server. The server tell you that you hit, but at the same time it tells the survivors client that you swung, so the DH away. The survivor client send that back to the server who then tells your client. This all takes time to do.
At least this is what seems to have happened. What I think should happen is the server should wait for the hit to happen, then when it receives this, send it to the clients server. If the survivor used DH before you swing then it should tell the killer.
Please note that I am not an expert, but can see no other option for all these perfect DH that seem to happen.

Survivors deserve every last second of face camping they get. Played a game earlier as legion against a VERY CLEAR 4 man sweat squad. The only way I could keep pressure up was by literally camping the hook and forcing all 3 of the others to come over and get slapped and trade. They still 4 man outted with a thousand tbags and clicks. Clearly they don't give a flying ######### about killer fun, so why should I give one second thought about that survivor that only got 800 points because they got caught, farmed, and died immediately?
See now this I don't understand. And I appreciate that everybody has a different idea of enjoyment and fun, but to me I would have had a fun game with them. You lost in the end anyway, so camping did not work. Then they clicked and tbagged at gate to show they was unhappy. How is that fun for anyone. You may have caught one unaware later and got a 2k or 3k, and at the end of the day, they are there to win aswell. You do not have to get a kill every game, and even if you camp and get the one kill, it's not classed as a win on the game.
Like I said, everybody can play as they want, but there will come a time when survivors decided enough is enough. They will either leave or form more swf teams, with more perks to make it harder. This will make it harder for all killers, then more will resort to camping and the game will be dead.
-
@Milo said:
If a killer is camping with noed or insta-downs you won't unhook anyways.
So this would only punish patrolling killers. This does nothing to face-campers.
No because this would make the rescuer and the survivor invincible for a certain amount of time. Yes somebody who really want to tunnel may eventually get that person down, the same as with Borrowed Time, but it would give the survivor time to at least try and escape.
The best thing about this idea is that it is like Borrowed Time, being a perk, not everybody would run it. And if they did for a while, killers may give up camping all together. Proxy camping would still happen, because the rescuer could still be downed before the unhook.
Something needs to be done, because I hear a lot of survivors getting so fed up with camping, that they are thinking of leaving DBD all together.

Well I have had survivors be not dick heads and even pity me when I wasn't as good as I am now. So maybe I'm just luckier or more pleasant. Doesn't truly matter. But even then, why should they show consideration for your fun? The only fun to be had is being chased and it's entirely up to you to provide that. Otherwise, what are they going to do? Sandbag their teammates? No, they'll do gens. And they'll go fast if you're not doing a good job or the map is #########. Survivor playstyle only has one form of variance: Do Gens and get chased. Now I'll agree that sweaty teams that are way too efficient are the worst, but at least they tend to be skilful and make for fun chases.
You make a fair point that fun is subjective. But I make a fair point that the game would be far better without resorting to these strategies pre-maturely. You might be happy you made the right strategic choice, but was it fun to execute? I refuse to believe camping or purposely tunnelling a guy three times in a row is actually fun to a normal human being. I once again thank the many streamers that forego this optimal play for fun (and still often win), they do inspire more people these days.
I will agree that context is important. From what I was reacting to, it seemed like people just camp when their ruin pops or gens pop rather quickly at the start. What you've described is survivors desperately trying to do gens quickly over doing the fun part of the game. A good strategy at endgame, dumb if there are still other gens, so now they get punished. Your strategy was the right one if you really wanted to win. And one I'd use if I was sent to the map or if survivors were clearly trying to sweat super hard that hits unfun levels. But, the thing is, if they're just pulling a soloQ and I have two downs in a similar manner, I'll rarely camp them, because it's ######### boring and dull, even if optimal. Because optimal strategy and play in DBD is a scourge. And surprisingly, I cannot say I NEVER get consideration from survivors, because I do, albeit more rarely, but that's because the power of mercy is mostly in my hands as killer. Perhaps my more chase-oriented and lack of care for securing stages/kills is what makes some people (survivors are people like killers) want to be nicer. Probably. Or I'm just lucky.
Unsurprisingly, my killer games have been me devoid of stress, beyond crappy map design and collision. Survivor games are sucking even more unless I'm in a team.
I have to agree with your reply. I do see that there has to context and from what was described, I would not call that face-camping, more proxy camping. If you can stop the unhook then all the better, although I rather think that the second survivor was not trying to greed the gen, rather then trying to stop it regressing while the killer hooked the first survivor, maybe he had bad timing.
I played three killer games tonight. One was on an indoor map, I hated the map, so I just had fun, did a bit of chasing, kicked some gens, did some of my pallet breaking challenge. At the end of the game, they escaped, I got some hooks, and loads of BP. Second game was very easy, in Hawkins map with Pig. Second time playing pig but got a 4K, no camping or tunnelling. Third game I met a 4 man swf, all with Borrowed Time, one with Circle of Healing, all protecting each other. I must admit I think I have played against them a couple of times before. They have a couple of players that are not great and I was on Pig so I was still learning. I knew I had no chance so I left the weak ones and had fun chasing the best one. I had real fun, it was a shame that I got the clicky clicky and the tea-bagging at the end as usual with them. I'm on PC, they are on console, so I am assuming they are just kids that think it's big.
Today I played a few games as survivor. Every one, if we can we say gg's. We have an agreement that unless it's a face-camper, we never act in anyway that we would not want to be treated. We had a game against a very bad ghostface, he got one kill and then tried to face-camp the next. End of game chat and we all said ggs, then all we got was toxic abuse from the killer, calling us every name he could think of.
We played another game where you could see the killer was having trouble. five gens and an exit gate for all four of us and not a tunnel or face-camp all game, we stood at the exit gate allowing us to hit us, and kept healing so he got extra BP, we even went to be hooked and killed so he would get a win, but he was having none of it. He was over the moon at the end because he got BP, finished a challenge and asked for advice, which we tried to help.
You don't always have to win to have fun.

Again, the point here is to preserve the core idea for boon totems and help achieve the potential counterplay, not to make them an annoying chore the killer tries to get out of the way as quickly as possible and that the survivors get limited use from. The timesink wouldn't be worth it if the killer can permanently break it.
That idea is a nonstarter here.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2625698#Comment_2625698
That's not a problem with boon totems, that is boon totems. If the current effects are too strong to be limitlessly available, then those effects should be nerfed, because that back-and-forth is clearly what the mechanic is supposed to be adding to the game.
It's uniquely frustrating that people seem incapable of separating the overall mechanic of boon totems from the effect of the boon perks. They're independent factors- one or both can be tweaked to achieve the intended goal.
You keep saying the same thing, but people keep saying that boon totems do not work. The mechanic of the boon totem does not work. It's not even great for a survivor to have to run away from a gen to get healed up. It waste time with a person finding a totem to bless, when they could be doing a gen or running the killer.
On the killer side, it is a point where they can run into to lose a killer with no skill, or heal to their hearts content. Saying it is that way does not make it work better.
We all know the mechanics of a boon totem, a safe zone for killers, to all heal up before they rush the next gen, then when you try to stop them they rush back to heal up again.
It's great for a swf team, who all work together, not really great for the solo player who wants to just do gens and get out, who may not be great at avoiding the killer, but has to try because one player is walking round the map trying to find a totem to bless, then spends their time around the totem so they can escape when everyone has done the gens.
Not so great for the killer who is not so great on catching, who finally out smarts a survivor and gets the first hit, then struggles as the survivor DH's towards and sprints off towards the totem, heals up and then the killer has to start again. It's not like med kits where they run out, not like having to find another survivor, or having to try and hide while making screams of pain. Find another survivor near the totem and you are well away.
It does not work simple. The only defence is for a killer to go look for it, taking precious time when gens are being done, and then it pops up again. Not like ruin that once it's found its gone, or Noed that they can cleanse all the totems and it's just a wasted perk slot. This is like a survivor having DH on steroids. It would even be better if every survivor carried self-care, at least then it is 4 of 16 perks slots taken.
The mechanics of totems do not work, which is why it needs a complete rework or just to be taken out and maybe give Mikaela some, quick life heal, that she can use of the injured survivor when they find her.
-
Back up. Was posted on twitter 3 mins before it went down.
-
The problem with boon totems is that there is no limit on them. They can be put up straight, heal more then one person over and over with no cool down.
I have said this before, Boon totems should not be a perk, they should be an addon just like a medkit. Have a base time or an amount of uses, then have extra such as extended time / uses, be able to move it once, speed of healing, radius and so on. It would then become more tactical of where to put it and when.
Now it's just a permanent, unlimited medkit for all. Get more then one and a killer is stuffed, because survivors loop to the boon and heal as they go. You then either give up chase to snuff out the boon, or carry on and hope you get their first. If you leave chase you lose the survivor and they heal on the other one.

I feel your pain, but I think this is impossible. Look at the fiasco with DH, pallet and window with. The killer gets the hit sound, hit animation, then looks for the survivor, only to find that the survivor has run off. Change it back and the survivor gets hit from a place out of reach.
To be honest I would rather it back where it was, actually be able to get hits in the first place, live with the fact that the odd hit may be way out as a survivor, and live with the flashlights, after all a lot of players don't use a flashlight, many that take them in cannot use them and the ones that can are the swf, so they work as a team anyway.

Every survivor can feel like a pro player If they play on Maps like "Puzzle" or Haddonfun.
DBD rewards survivors for being bad players, for that reason tons of this players thinks they are good at the game.
* If you are a noob looping or the killer mindgames you, Dead Hard and GG, Pro survivor.
* If you get Hooked, no problem, Borrow Time to give you another chance to buy some time even being a Noob
* If you get downed again, no problem mate, DS if the killer picks you or Unbreakable if the killer slugs you, amazing survivor Gameplay.
* If you can't loop properly, no problem, Shadowstep boon totem on a strong structure to help you, greatest survivor ever seen.
* If you don't know that Medkits exist my dear Toolbox player, Iron Will is for you.
* If the killer uses HeX totems, we need to Reward you for playing this match, Soulgard, because hex totems are really hard to find :)
With all that second wind perks and easy Life perks, every player can feel like a Boss on DBD, but the truth is that they are just a bunch of carried players by Perks, SwF and strong Maps with 20 pallets to drop
I agree what you are saying about survivor perks, but I think the same can be said for killer perks.
Want to find the survivors easy - Barbeque and Chilli, Nurses Calling, Bitter Murmer, Discordance
Want to slow gens - Ruin, Pop, Corrupt Intervention, Overcharge, Thanatophobia.
Want easier kills when gens are done - NoEd, No one escapes.
Perks are designed to be just that, perks to aid. Addons help as well. These are part of the game mechanics, they can work in your favour or not. I don't care if a survivor runs all the perks they want and I end the game with no kills. I see no point in standing at the gate for the timer to run out, just to bounce up and down, while playing with a flashlight. To me that is the same as holding the game to hostage. It's not like you can get the hit off, go through the hit action and then pick them up.
I am all for people waiting at the gate to make sure the whole team exits, because they might be needed to get the last save, but to stand there to gloat because either the killer was to busy doing challenges, because they just had a bad game or a map that favours the survivors, or even because they wasn't bothered about getting all the kills, just wanted to hook as many times as possible is bad sportsmanship.
I wonder if they would still try if a hit was a sudden death in the exit gate.

- I never use deliverance so cannot say.
- This is a hard one. The description for Dead Hard state "Avoid any damage during a dash", and a survivor main told me that it was supposed to stop the survivor getting hit during that time, which I agree, but when I play killer I get the sound and animation that I have made a hit, only to then watch the survivor seemingly have a extra health state. For this to work properly, you should have the miss animation which is quicker. It is the same with window and pallet jumps. I read that if the animation starts, all other actions to not register on the survivor side, only on the killer side. So the killer hits and gets the actions of a successful hit, but the survivor gets a successful action. Now I would not mind this so much if it worked for all actions, such as a pallet hit on a killer, then the survivor unable to blind, but it only seems to work to favour the survivor. Whether this is by design, I have no idea.
- This is unfortunately on you and your teammates. If you are hiding in a bush because you don't want to be caught, then that is your choice. In an ideal world for you, one of your teammates could have taken her away, while you heal. Unfortunately the killer probably knew you was close and injured and wanted the hook, and that is the game.
- Boon totems seem to be the main cause for concern, but I think more for lower level teams. Good teams can work together to double heal while the killer is in chase. It does help the solo player, but to be honest, if you need to heal so often, either you take a medkit or find one in a chest. Having to leave one side of the map to run to the totem is a waste of time. I think that totems should not be a perk, more an addon that you have to use, such as a medkit or toolkit. It has a limited time so it would be a more tactical part of the game. Only being put out once and when it is gone it is gone, much like ruin. Maybe have it hidden to the killer but only have so many uses, so it does not last all game. Like a medkit for all, then extra's to make it quicker or more uses.
- Hex totems are fine. As a survivor you want to cleanse ruin or cleanse dull totems to stop NoEd. Yes as a killer it is a pain to lose your totem, but there are killer who can protect their totem, or run a backup perk. Sometimes its better not to run ruin so you don't have to rely on it, then have the extra perk spot. But I do agree that spawning survivors right next to it is a joke. Why not let the killer decide where to place the totem and when.
- I have only had this few times and it keeps you on your toes. At least you are not wondering who the killer is.
- This is a must. As a killer I have gone against a bunch of Mr Potato Heads, that run in into you, then run in a straight line, or hide in a locker right in front of you. You then have to give them a chance because you nearly have four hooks and still five gens, or you feel like you are tunnelling because you have the same survivor running around. Then the next game it's like playing against a seal team with all the team co-ordinated, totems gone, five gens done before you have even got two hooks. Then you play survivor and look to find a survivor hiding in the corner along with a survivor who can run the killer for gen after gen.
- I can see why some killers camp, who wants to spend a game running after a survivor, hitting them and then wondering why you did not get the hit, watching teams of swf putting up totems all over the map and just constant healing. It's got that bad now that I often find survivors trying to loop me round the totem, so they can heal while suffer with a hit animation after a hit, that got disallowed because of dead hard. I still detest camping, but it's getting more and more prominent because of the behaviour of BHVR.
- I think if they sort out the hit register, get rid of the OP boon totems and get rid of MMR, then things will improve. Until then they are just killing the game. Gamers have a want to win mentality and it is hard to lose this and accept that you will lose, especially when you lose because of a game mechanic that is effectively faulty.

Some possible things to try (other than face camping obviously)
- Perks or killers that can do instant downs. That lessens the impact if they’re frequently healing
- Perks or add-ons or abilities that interfere with or slow down healing. Broken status, for instance, and healing speed debuffs like Coulrophobia or Thanatophobia.
- Try Bloodhound to be able to help easily chase down injured survivors to down them before they can heal. (Nurses is normally useful for that too but is susceptible to Shadow Step hiding the aura, and since the question is assuming Boon heavy groups they probably have it.
- Any killers that are good at chasing down injured survivors and/or slugging survivors can reduce how often they get to heal before being hooked.
- Try things which punish messing with totems like Thrill of the Hunt, Haunted Grounds or Retribution. Hex Traps like these are meant for exactly the scenario where survivors are going after the totems frequently.
- And just generally speaking keep an ear out for the Boons. Since it only take 2 seconds to snuff them out if you’re efficient at finding them when you hear the noise then it will take that survivor at least 14 seconds to place it again which is a net win.
Thanks for the advice. These are good things to try.
