I've been playing for 2 years and people have been complaining about tunnelling that entire time. It's nothing new. IMO I see it less frequently now than I did back then, which could be an MMR thing. Regardless, it's a part of the game and it's not going away, no matter how much they tweak perks or powers. Blaming it on the 6.1.0 update doesn't make sense to me when, as I said, it's been an ongoing thing since I started playing. They can nerf gen speeds, they can boost nice guy perks, and players will still tunnel. And people will still say 'it's a smart, legitimate strategy'
It definitely is a "mmr thing" as tunneling and camping are way worse now.
-
- 'Nice guy' killer builds are less viable/useful, due to the nerf to BBQ, Pop etc.
We can say the same for survivor perks
If you don't run the same meta perks you have no chance to escape
-
I feel like this thread is made every day here, is there really a hook suicide pandemic going on?

Glad this perk is terrible.
Last thing we need right now is more "generator go fast" perks on x4 survivors.
how's this perk a "generator go fast" kind of thing?
and how does this get a 8 upvotes???

Not at the thread becoming a hunt for clarification of a programing joke no one got.

no you did not!

Funny thing is it's been a different experience for me. I've actually noticed often my team mates are more productive than I thought. Well, most of the time...

This. There has been times where the killer is patrolling an area and I've gone into a locker. The killer just hangs around for a while. Of course this looks to others that I'm just not doing anything for the sake of it and not that I'm trying to avoid detection.
Right?
I don't see anything negative about the hud and it's always so satisfying when you see 3 survivors doing gens at the same time and one being chased. It doesn't happen the whole match, we're not robots, but it pays off.
I think we'll get more escapes in the next data release.
-
The change was necessary for solo Q
OFF topic curious: What killer do you play with the most?
-
I think some people are too pessimist about it
I can talk for myself, sometimes I do get lost in the map wondering what to do next, I don't know if I should get chase, if I should go help a friend being chased, if I should go unhook.
With the new icons whenever I see no one else is doing gens, I sit in a gen until I see I'm needed somewhere else, so the way I see it, it helped me a lot more to play the solo q. I'm very optimistic about it and I'm not really a very optimistic person lol
-
Hm, but how would you fix that?
And why do you think an in game voice chat would be better for the game than discord?
curious to see what you come up with.
-
if only there wasn't a hook at every 5 steps, that would be a really good combo.

Yes, people slug to get 4ks. It's their objective to kill you, doesn't matter how they do it. They just need to kill you. Instead of crying about how someone plays in an online video game, I suggest moving on.
uhh, so aggressive... chill pill? 😯

I personally as a killer main won't slug for a 4k. I consider a 3k a win. I also will give the last survivor the hatch / door if they don't struggle.
If I am the last survivor, I never struggle. Sometimes I get the hook sometimes they let me go.
Remember just win and lose with dignity.
double quote, sorry.

lol, I used to not struggle, then a huntress once walked the whole map with me on her shoulder to find hatch, when she found it, she dropped me close to it and let me crawl a bit, when I got real close she closed the hatch, picked me back up and hooked me. LOL
Never again I did not not struggle. hahahaha
And I consider even a 2k a win depending on if it was a sweaty match.
Imagine being destroyed in a few minutes and losing every chase and still get a 2k? It's a win for me. lol

I tend to not care about 4K's but it also depends on my mood
Mood plays a bigger part of this game then people like to admit
Say that Bubba had 4-5 matches of all 4 Survivors escaping and T-Bagging (also end game messages) then got put into your match... How would you play it???
I think that must be the case
I was just saying this in another thread: some people bring frustrations from one match to another, and some bring it even to real life.
As for the "how would you play it???" I definitely don't do it, especially as killer, my killer playstyle doesn't revolve around what survivors do to me. But to each their own.
I just made the thread cause it had never happened to me.
-
Didn't get to play in it, when I started playing the game it had just been removed.

@Warlord1981NL said:
I use those tactics and I don't care at all about getting a 4K. I care about playing to the best of my ability and trying for a 4K which means that I make full use of my range of options as a killer to gain and keep advantage. Anything less is me disrespecting my opponents as that is me saying you are not good enough to display my full capabilities to. It would literally be me taking pity on you over a videogame, I would be insulted to the max if someone did that to me.
So you're saying we should thank you for slugging us for a 4k, cause it's better that way than if we'd get hatch, cause if we got hatch it's because you didn't do your best and we deserve your best? 😧

I can totally understand your position, normally, that's also my stance, I'm all up for a bit of trolling, and in many games I would find that funny.
The problem is that in DBD, it's really funny for 10 seconds, until you realize that as the facecamped survivor you are basically out of the game, as in solo queue nobody will bother saving you. So while from the outside it looks like a situation that is entertaining, survivor players are used to see it and know what it really means is that they will sit 2 minutes on a hook, without being able to do anything about it, without getting BPs, most likely de-pip, then have to wait in queue again for 2 minutes, etc. and all of that while getting BM'd by the killer without any possibility to fight back (they can't even write in chat).
Basically, it's like somebody telling you a good joke, but then they keep telling you the same joke over and over. What's funny at first becomes stale and frustrating very quick.
Not to mention, solo queue is in such a miserable state, that this kind of BM, coupled with tunneling+camping, is making the game very discouraging for players on a loss streak and especially new players. Look at hookcamperlol's stream, half of his survivors don't last for more than 10 seconds in chase. Imagine a new player's reaction when after waiting in queue for 5 minutes, they play the game for 30 seconds, then they get hit on hook for 2 minutes, then they are sent back to the lobby.
And that's my point exactly, if you're going to be face camped, it better be for a low-life troll that probably is doing that cause he got his ass whooped many times before and can't deal with that. I wish people would see it like that, it would remove so much weight out of the game for them.
You see, I used to play with 2 friends and they both stopped playing for the camping and the tunneling, I'm the only one remaining, not cause I like being tunneled and camped, but cause in my head if the match is over for me, I'll just jump right into the next one. No strings attached. They used to bring their frustrations from one match to the other and that's when it became too much for them.
-
I hope the heart beating thing isn't inside the survivor like in the mobile
that breaks the whole horror immersion of the game
Let it be an icon on the corner of the screen
-
I get why we get bothered about face camping, but why do people hate so much when killers keep hitting them on hook?
It's so silly, I find it even a little funny, it means I played well and the guy got mad
Some people are really mad about anything... There is so much you can be mad at in this game, being hit on hook it's just silly.
-
Playing as killer, I hate adrenaline so much lol
And as survivor I hate any aura showing perks, some killers just won't let you do your thing... hahaha
-
"Do the middle gens first"
The first place the killer goes to, yeah, good idea LOL
I don't think the map should go away, tho, so you got RPD in a match, so what? It isn't the end of the world
Lose that match and move on with your game, people act like they have to play on the best map, against the worst killer and win everytime.
-
I tried for many days to do this, but it never worked
I used every perk that could help me hide in lockers right after and in mid chases and never worked
I gave up eventually

Good news is both these issues should be fixed with the new map layout on Tuesday.
The Gates being in line of sight is due to having such long side walls on a map that is so long and narrow, as potential gate placement can be on the same wall but still be far enough away to be 'valid'. And likewise, gen placement is limited when it's so long and thin, which currently makes it very easy to defend the middle gens and force survivors into repairing the most distant ones first.
The new map is more square, but also more irregular in shape. More like Thompson House, Temple or Purgation, or Garden of Joy.
@Nirgendwohin said:
the map will be reworked. there is nothing more to say.
Oh I didn't know it was being reworked again
Guess I'm not up to date with the news. Sorry...
Thanks for letting me know!

Seems like everyday there's a new one saying the exact same thing, except this one is BIGGER.

Because the bone chill event was fun. Something the game needed. As a killer main jumping into a snowman has been so much fun. Goofing off has been a nice change. Ive seen hardcore swf teams melt when i play killer snowman. Party time dudes. Cheer up
I love it when I jump into a snowman and a survivor understands the message and jumps in another we go on causing the others together lol
very fun, too bad most of them gen rush

The game timeout should be reduced from an hour to 15 minutes (with an onscreen timer displayed for all players). Any survivor that hasn’t escaped by the end of the timer is immediately killed by the entity. People don’t want to do gens (which, as they’re so fond of pointing out, is their only objective)? Then they lose quickly.
15 minutes?
maybe a "quick game mode", but a normal game being limited to 15 minutes is too much.
-
So it's more common than I thought
I had the same issue and posted it here:
-
People were saying the numbers were wrong, they couldn't believe she was up there
But in my experience, I normally don't escape on a match against sadako. I can't recall the last time I escaped her
Got Nurse twice this week and escaped twice, but the only time I faced Sadako she got a 4k, as usual
Maybe she isn't good in top MMR? Cause in the MMR I am right now she's oppressive as #########
-
I'm playing solo Q "for fun" which mean I don't care about winning.
So I'm at a place where:
- Do you want to tunnel me? Go ahead and tunnel me, I'll die and jump right into the next game, easy
- Do you want to camp me? Go ahead, if my teammates are smart they'll open the gates, if they're not... Well, whatever, I died anyway, next.
I can have fun that way, I choose to, cause if I cared I definitely wouldn't be having fun cause let me tell you, face camping, tunneling, and slugging is more common than ever right now.

I see you have never saw bubba and his camping potential. Or knight and his "turn off this loop or I don't do anything" power. Or trickster's main event in basement. Or nurse blinks.
There are many more problematic things in this game then dredge's power
what does bubba have to do with what we're talking about?
I'm not saying dredge's power is THE MOST hated power, I'm saying it's ONE OF THE...
Bubba's power is hated cause of the camping issue
Knight's power cause of anitloop
DREDGE'S POWER IT'S BECAUSE OF LOW VISIBILITY ANNNNND accessibility
Isn't that what we're talking about? VISIBILITY?

Never faced dredge I guess?
The thickening of the fog needs a buff, sure. There are so many similar game mechanics that do nothing now like keys which are nearly worthless. Thickening the fog is almost completely pointless. Soon they are going to be releasing instant mori's and make the mori's in the blood web totally worthless...
The point is that BHVR are bad at this, fixing things that become accidentally broken, and the only thing players can do is make threads like this one and hope they pay attention.
Yes, one of the most hated killer power ever created.
Just look what people think of his power and you will know what I'm talking about.

@Alcuin said:
It's been like that since May, or even April. The forums say it's a bug but it's been 7-8 months. It seems like it's by design. When the suggestion comes up about how to buff Solo Survivor, Kindred without showing the Killer's aura always comes up. We already have that.
what? no way, I played it last month and it was working as it should, I always run this build when I'm solo
Maybe it was bugged only for a few people?
-
@HighwayCatalyst said:
It is bugged, the killers aura only shows if someone with kindred is hooked.
I thinks it's due to be fixed sometime in January.
oh, thanks, it was working the last time I played, so I guess it bugged in the snowman's update.
Hope they fix it soon, I love my kindred :(
-
WTH kind of a mess is this? LOL
And do people really find these beautiful:?
I really have no sense of fashion, so the question is genuine.

some of these skins: EWWW

i was in a similar situation once, but I was with a friend, the Myers didn't want to grab us from the locker to hook, so we stayed in the lockers to see how long he'd stay in game. Long story short, we gave in after 50 minutes and let him kill us. He then proceeded to call us childish in the chat...
-
if you down a survivor with the box in his hand, you'll automatically grab the box and respawn it, no?
-
as you guys can see, two days after the original post and still no survivor daily:
I'll actually do these dailies to see if it changes
-
@HugTechLover said:
I get only killer daily’s with a survivor one coming every 1 in 6. I’m assuming it’s because I play mostly killer.
I always played 50/50, with the exception of 2 months ago I spent like the whole month playing only killer. Now I play like 80/20 survivor, so I don't get why I'm only getting killer daily.
@Deathstroke said:
I don't think so you can just replace one challenge each day and seems you're already done that.
I did, every day I replace one in hope I'll get a survivor one lol
-
the thing is and I'm dead serious about this reflection:
If survivors do what you're saying we can be sure the killer will have fun
but can we be sure if survivors do all of that the killer will play in a "nicer way" too?
that's where the problem lies, isn't it?
how many of us have been in a match where the killer ends the game right in the beginning just by getting a "lucky" 2 down on the get go? And how many of those killer stop and think "well, I'm doing this too fast, I better let them have fun"?
I'll be honest with you: I saw this like 3 times in 3 years, the killer saw how frustrating the match was for us and he slowed down the downs and choose to "farm" a little bit before ending the match. The rest of them? They all are happy with their 8~12 hooks and a 4 gen standing and that's all that matters.
I couldn't count how many times I lost a game with 4~5 gen standing with a killer that pressured the game so much survivors got dizzy. I said this here before and I'll say it again: whenever I'm playing killer and the team I'm facing is struggling I let them farm before the end of the match, sometimes if they're nice I even let them escape, but if I get "bulliy" survivors I'll definitely end the match as soon as possible and that's how every killer should think, but instead they get in the match with the mentality that "OH I HAVE TO GET THAT 4K OR ELSE... IF I DON'T SLUG THE LAST SURVIVOR THE OTHER ONE WILL GET HATCH SO... OH IF I DON'T TUNNEL THIS ONE I'M GONNA LOSE THE GAME... I BETTER STAY IN FRONT OF THIS HOOK, I DON'T WANNA LOSE THIS KILL"
-
@Rootlo said:
You cant say the word Kill.
There are archives and dailies that say Kill in game, im pretty sure the mori says Kill and you are playing against a Killer.
However if you say kill you get censored. The filter makes no sense
it's because the community is so childish, that people tend to threaten each other in the chat
Online games are all like this
in league of legends it happens all the time
this other day a guy asked for my address and said he would come to kill me
-
Are you sure you didn't type "cleaver" by mistake?
I just typed "clever" and it did not get censored
-
I didn't know about this bug, I hated the map even playing survivor
it feels so claustrophobic, like the map is tiny
I hated getting it as survivor and started bring map offerings to avoid it
good it's kill switched and I hope it doesn't come back until a rework is done
I rather play RPD the whole day
-
good, you have other killers to play high mmr
not every killer needs to be a high mmr efficient killer
that's why there are killers with different levels from "easy to very hard"

That build was so much fun, i remember a game in old Haddonfield where i got 3 consecutive PURPLE MEDKITS + addons, and a purple key. I basically equipped my random teammates with ingame chest items and us four managed to escape by hatch with gates powered.
Good ol' days.🥲
hahahhaa what a fun match
let's hope someday we get to do it again

That's true. I used to run some unhook builds with Desperate Measures + No one left behind, or a chest build with Plunderer + appraisal where the old hatch was active. I would stack items on the shack floor for my teammates to use.
These days, although i dont usually go with gen rush perks, i fully commit to gen repair whenever i am not being chased or need to unhook someone as you are always expecting the killer to run a variation of Brine/Overcharge/Eruption/pain res and you know you will never get out if you dont rush.
Aaaw I used to do the same!
I used to run this build:
Take things from chests and give them to my teammates
Even tho it was one less person doing gens, I felt like I helped them, even if I didn't escape, it didn't feel like I was dead weight
Nowadays if I bring a build like this to the trial I ruin the match
-
I see what you tried to do here, but I don't think you should compare these games
Making that comparison kinda made this thread have no sense whatsoever
-
I have to agree
I've played mostly survivor these days and I always end up gen rushing and when I don't it's because the killer already killed 2 people in the first few minutes of the game lol
So I'm kind of stuck in that zone where "If I don't gen rush this, I have no chance in getting out"
I kinda predicted this a few months back when they increased the time to finish a gen, but I didn't think it would go this fast... People used to play more "loosely" before, cause doing gens was kinda fast, so they would go do totems, chests, and "bully" the killer (loool), now it's all too stiff, if you don't sit the hell out of this generator, you'll never finish it.
