If they can see all of the factors then why do they make such poor balance decisions?
And why shouldn't DC's be included in the data? Wouldn't registering them as kills heavily skew data that is used to make major balance decisions in the game?
Because sometimes they read data wrong.
Years ago there was a stream, where they mentioned that only 23% of all survivors use SC.
Later it tourned out, that the data was refering to perk slots.

I think that's where it comes down to in the end; A Killer is mostly powerless when facing a good team of Survivors while good Survivors are always be in the power role - regardless of the Killer.
The Killers power lies in utilizing the most from the mistakes the Survivors made. If they make no mistake, you can't apply pressure and therefore lack any form of power. It's not like that when playing Survivor - then you're in the power role UNTIL you make a mistake. Only then the tables can turn to the Killers favour.
When 5 players of equal skill and preparation meet, the Killer has much lower chances of winning and that's what makes those matches unbalanced and unfair.
The biggest problem is, that the game isn´t balanced around SWF. Because for whatever reason, the devs treat it as if no one would play SWF.
The game was never designed with all the information or coordination in mind, a SWF team could reach.

Corrupt might have helped a teenie tiny bit, adding maybe 20-30 seconds to the overall match length.
Yeah, the time it would have taken them to run to different gens.
All the gen slowdown perks need a overhaul/massive buff. None is really good at what they are supposed to do.

The killers overall objective is to get 4 kills.Doesn't matter how he gets them.
The survivors overall objective is to repair all 5 generators and escape.
What makes you think that the killer is supposed to get 12 hooks in order to fulfill their objective?
The Emblem system punishes a killer who insta downs and kills survivors. The lesser hooks and hits, the more likely he wont pip.

Oh, I missed that buff then. But it's still crap, comparing to BBQ.
Fun fact: WGLF was released before BBQ and had a 200% bonus.
It was nerfed, because survivors farmed their teammates so hard.
Also WGLF stacks are easier to get than BBQ stacks. A survivor can get 3 stacks in 1 unhook.

Nah, don't lump all survivors in with this guy.
I know its not all survivors, but the aura reading has been gradually reduced, because survivors complained about it.
I have no doubt, that when enough survivors complain about it, the devs will do something about BBQ.

Insidious Bubba it is.
If survivors want camping killers, they´ll get them.

They once said, that according to their data, hook suicides didn´t increas a lot.
So i think its save to assume that they can see who suicided on the hook and who didn´t.
-
Survivors: DEVs do something about camping!
Also survivors: BBQ is a crutch.
Like, what do you really want? I´ve even seen a thread that explained, that other survivors shouldn´t be punished by the mistakes of their teammates, so the aura reading (that leads the killer away) should be removed.

Yeah, this "I had 32 ping" is the real BS happening. You can only see your Ping and if it is good, it does mean nothing if the Killer has a bad Ping. But for some reason, the Survivors cannot see the Killers Ping, but the Killer can see the Ping of the Survivors. Dedicated Servers simply made it worse, before you could see that you had a Killer with high Ping (aka you got connected to a Player who probably lives far away from you or if the ping was spyking, has quite poor internet), but with Dedicated Servers, I never have a Ping higher than 60, mostly it is 35-50.
But now, you only see your Ping, but not the Killers, which makes stuff like this happen.
And personally, I dont see anything wrong with saying that those are Russian Players, because you can be sure that those Players most likely dont do it intentionally, they just have no other choice, because there are no Servers in Russia. So it is not naming&shaming or anything, it is just what it is - players who get connected to a Server far away because there is no other option. You have to name the problem and the problem is that BHVR has Dedicated Servers without being able to open Servers in some regions of the world.
I am at the point where I just want to go back to P2P so badly, I would give everything from Dedicated Servers up for that. I am just tired for getting questionable Hits or Grabs, just because a player from Russia is the Killer. And meanwhile, I have great Ping, but this only means that players who go against me as Killer will most likely have an awesome experience. Which is nice, but eh.
At the very least, the Killers Ping should be visible.
I totally agree with you!
I would also prefer to have p2p back. But thats highly unlikely, since most survivor mains thought, that the game would greatly improve for them. That all the mistakes they had on their side, were caused by lagging killers and that dedicated servers would get rid of lag switching.
-
Thats server sided hit registration. So far, killers got robbed of their grabs all the time. Since the server sided hit registration is active, grabs work again, like expected.
So nothing wrong here.

How is the huntress, a killer with a constant humming, that has a longer range than the heartbeat and can't be turned off with insidious. Better at camping than Bubba?!

Good point. I think there´smore to it, though.
Ethan got such overwhelming amounts of negative feedback for his stance on Object. There are so many good reasons to fix the perk. No reason to leave it as it is when everyone except a handful of people know how broken it is.
At this point, I think they are leaving Object in its current, horrible form just to spite the community. We need to be taught what we want and what is good for us, after all.
Just imagine that the killer could equip OoO. He could see the obsession wherever he is.
The survivor outcry would be so hard, devs would instantly rework it.

So a non argument basically. “It’s fair because you can outplay it, but only vs. a nurse who isn’t good, because if you outplay a nurse they’re bad. And if you can juke hatchets then the huntress is bad” isn’t that how these discussions go?
So your argument is what?
My argument was, that survivors used to develop skill, adapt to killers and beat them.

Well you see, they just need more data. It’s always data driven. See, compound 21 was nerfed in a week. But Iri head and pinky finger require a lot of special data that they’ve needed to gather to determine what exactly to do with them. (/sarcasm)
I was truly amazed how fast they nerfed a really useful addon for a high skill ceiling killer.
Almost like they didn't think killers would find it useful or something.

I just had a game where huntress runs irid + infantry belt, stared at me while I was on the hook and the other survivors tried to get me down which I'm not surprise. If only they finally got rid of irid head chances of encountering a camping/tunneling huntress would tumble.
Because no one would play her?
Honestly, huntress is one of the worst killers to camp. There are far better alternatives.
-
That's one of the side effects of survivors always accusing killers of camping, tunneling, etc.
The killers that don't do those things will eventually say ######### it and start doing what they get called all the time. Because they'll get called out anyway.

All it actually takes is having just one bad survivor in the game. If he can be eliminated by the time 2 gens are remaining, the Killer wins. And in solo queue you are almost guaranteed to have at least one potato in your team.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1852560#Comment_1852560
It would take 80 seconds for 3 survivors to repair 3 gens. The survivor must be a really good looper if he lasts 80 seconds. So of course a smart killer will never target good loopers if he has an alternative.
80 seconds without great skill checks.
Killer doesn't spawn next to the survivor. He has to cross the map, which takes at least 30 seconds. Picking the survivor up and carrying him to the hook also takes a minimum of 10 seconds. So a chase of 40 seconds isn't really far fetched. Most survivors last longer.
-
DS isn't a requirement to survive.
Staying with the analogy of the top killer, survivors can complete 3 gens before the first hook. Your tunneling would kill the first survivor by the time the last gen gets completed.

In my experience, Survivors tend to call anything camping where the Killer catches them at the hook, regardless of the reason. It is kind of silly, and self-serving. To keep things very clear and simple, me and mine use the following terminology:
- Squatting: The Killer stands at the Hook point blank to stare at the victim and try to deter/prevent any rescue.
- Lurking: The Killer is very close to the Hook, but hides from both the hooked and potential rescuers, often employing Perks.
- Camping: The Killer stays in the general vicinity, doing a series of short range patrols so they can return quickly to the hook.
Thus, me and mine can simply say, We've got a Lurker... or we've got a Squatter... or we've got a Camper... and all of know EXACTLY what we mean. It conveys all the important information. I mostly play Solo, because my friends and I can't get together that often. But when we do, we prefer terms that are more specific.
The simple truth is that the only way to encourage Killers to leave the area of the Hook entirely is to make it worth their while. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Thus, Killers either have to be getting a benefit in BP by leaving the area, or be provided with a direction to go. I've often suggested that Killers should earn a version of Bold advancement (not unlike Survivors do for staying in the Killer's Terror radius) for moving a certain distance from the Hook and staying outside of it.
In general, Killers tend to move away from Squatting once they are away from the Potato Ranks because it isn't an effective strategy. Lurking and Camping (as I define them) are niche tools and are always on tap depending on a match or the Killer's build. For example, Killers with the Perk: Insidious or some power via Add-on(s) might lurk nearby using the hook as bait. Some Killers like Hag and Spooky Myers (Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo) will do the series of patrols using their respective powers to watch the Hook and return to it quickly to intercept. That is their thing. It is how they offset being slow.
Most of the bad things that happen to Survivors are the result of the choices of Survivors (themselves and their Peers). I know that sounds harsh, but it is true. There are ways to make safe rescues, and even snatch a Survivor right under the nose of a Squatter. It takes coordination and practice. Time is the most important resource Survivors have and like it or not, having one person do maximum time on the hook can be a godsend to the group that milk as much Generator time out of it as possible.
We need to encourage killers to leave the hook. Not punish them for camping.
I propose reverting some of the BBQ aura reading nerfs we received in the past.
On top of that, because not everyone has BBQ, we should have bonus points for finding a new survivor after hooking someone.
-
Can we establish first what face camping is? Because they are some wild versions of it. Like long range face camping, when the hook isn't even inside the killers terror radius (not stealth killers) but dares to look into the direction of the hook.
Or hag placing a trap near the hook, apparently that also counts as face camping.
In my last 10 matches I had 1 insidious bubba who stood next to the hook. That's what I consider face camping.
What about the rest?
-
The problem with the kill rate stats is, that it considers how rank 1 killers perform, but doesn't filter facing rainbow survivors, moris or suicides.
Killer xxx having a high kill rate while survivors constantly run towards him to get downed and then suicide. Just because they don't feel like playing against that killer and don't want to have the dc penalty.
Survivors sabotage their own match, then the stats show that a killer is over performing.
-
There are not enough red rank killers around. That's why you get matched against red rank survivors.
-

1:05 temporarily lost the Claudette
1:52 was outplayed by Dwight

I rather believe in my DS and punish when a killer thinks it's fun to tunnel off hook, like the people you probably rescue off hook. Your build suggest you are one of those super amazing team mates who will just hug gens and otherwise go for each and every unhook without ever engaging in a chase with the killer. No exhaustion perk, just a full farm build. If the killer goes for you, I bet you go down faster than a rock thrown in the ocean.
Indeed, i usually leave the match with more points than the killer, but i hug gens and instantly die, when the killer looks into my direction. Makes sense... /not
Proove Thyself is great to max out Objective points. Since i only need 1 1/2 gens for 8k points. From there i have maximum time to run the killer, unhook survivors or cleanse totems.
In the end it all boils down to the question IF you could play without those perks or not. I could instantly switch to full tryhard build and it wouldn´t negatively impact my game experience (or escape rate). Can you say the same?

I guess you lack some kind of reading comprehension. She downed one, hooked and proxy camped. After one died: rinse repeat. Also yes, I run DS cause I solo queue and if there is no Obsession, guess what each and every killer would do.
You posting a picture of yourself against a RANK EIGHT iri huntress (barely out green ranks) is hopefully supposed to be a joke. You want to compare the skills of a rank 8 killer with a rank 1 or 2? In your picture three out of 4 were red rank survivors, including you - looking at the perk similarities, I wouldn't even be surprised if you were SWF.
People say non stop that ranks don´t matter. Now they suddenly matter. And no, i never play SWF. Solo all the time, red rank without DS is possible. You just have to believe in yourself.

No one is going to take you seriously if you're telling people to "Don't get hit" (especially when you're one of the people who says "Git Gud") because a good Huntress will just wait until you're forced to throw down the pallet or vault, then that's when you're going down. If you fake it, she will just catch up and shotgun a hatchet into you. It's not hard.
As for the other parts, you're assuming Iridescent Hatchets are balanced out by the player being bad. Yeah, you definitely haven't seen a good Huntress in your games if you were able to get two escapes. Just being honest here.
Git Gud is the usual response whenever a killer complains about something.
But no, i haven´t seen a good Huntress in ages. Especially no Iri Huntress. The last one was 3 months ago. Maybe i´m lucky.

It's actually a 57% kill rate in RED RANKS not Rank 1.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/RX74GQTZ5BTV/u3ockhk.jpg
It's a 40% kill rate across ALL RANKS which is pretty high considering the learning curve on her.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0A4JN0B8VFT7/sjvhjks.jpg
and literally any average killer is red rank considering rank reset only sets you back to the final rank on the colour before you, so being red rank isn't exactly some incredible feat, the majority of killers learn new killers in red rank.
I really would like to see how the mori nerf affected those stats.
Because either moris were to strong and deserved the nerf. In that case the kill rate would drop significantly or mori had little to no impact. In that case, why nerf it?

Yeah, the numbers... you can read them like BHVR can with their "OoO is fine, no increased chance of escape" ignoring the fact that almost every killer facecamps the object to death as soon as he notices, throwing the game to get it.
Nurse mains said they stopped playing nurse because it is not fun anymore with the basekit change. That's why current nurses are baby nurses and learning. Either they all give up as she is the hardest killer, or she will climp up to 80% within a year. You like betting, right? Shall we bet on that one too?
Kill rate on rank 1. Who starts to learn nurse on rank 1? Thats like learning to juggle with nitro. An unforgettable experience.
