Hmmm... Balanced. So to have players travelling across the whole map, with infinite instadowns that are the only way a Billy player is ever going to hit you, without slowdowns while revving the chainsaw, with hitboxes that got you THROUGH walls... Is that your idea of balanced? As much as it wasn't OP, it wasn't balanced either. Everything that can be spammed isn't balanced. If you want to talk about the most balanced killer, you should pick Ghostface. As much as he isn't top tier he is, in fact, balanced.
Most of the community agreed that Billy was the gold standard on how a killer should be balanced.
But i guess, there is always someone who thinks something is unbalanced.
-
At this point i think i sound like a broken record...
Anyway... The reason for this is, that there are not enough killers around. So the matchmaking tosses the first killer it finds into a match with the survivors that have been waiting the longest.
Solution: get more people to play killer.
-
Good job. It takes 2 minutes for a single survivor to cleanse all 5 totems.
Imagine the time it would take if the other 3 teammates wouldn't be allergic to dull totems.

Survivors have been asking for Spirit nerfs since her PTB. The only mega broken thing about her was the original Prayer Beads, but given that DbD is an early access game in all facets but label, I'm not surprised that it came out like that.
Spirit was already nerfed, yes. But the new nerf requests fittingly appar after another nerf was confirmed.
Once Spirit gets nerfed, survivors will move one to the next killer.
Noticed how Billy, the most balanced killer we had before they made some "minor adjustments", isn't listed as viable killer on red ranks anymore?
-
Freddy nerf confirmed. Oh look, survivors are already asking for a Spirit nerf. What a surprise.
The list of viable red rank killers gets shorter and shorter. Meanwhile the survivor queues get longer and longer.
I wonder if survivors have enough when they'll wait 45+ minutes for a match, only to get matched against a rank 17 killer.

Hey killers can camp. I'm going to sit in the gen in the meantime. I guess yeah killers can choose to tunnel and camp. But Killers have control of the game overall. They can choose to control gens, to get people of gens. It's not up to the survivor. If there is no killer near gens people will gens.
Survivors control the pace of the game. Not killers.
A killer can only chase 1 survivor at the same time. The others will sit on gens.
In most of my solo survivor matches, the killer gets his first hook after 3 gens have been completed.
The matches end with killers getting 3 or 4 hooks before all gens are completed.
Only exceptions are when my teammates suicide, disconnect, or sit crouching in a corner of the map, while the killer chases someone else.
Current balance works great for new players. Where survivors still make mistakes. But doesn't work for experienced players.
-
@Trickstaaaaa said:
I mean to me I don't view gen rushing as thing. I view it as the only mission of survivors. I don't get why survivors would want to purposely prolong the match. Their objective is to escape as quick as possible, so doing gens as quick as possible. Like why would they take their sweet time, just to give the killer more time to hunt them down. It does not make sense to me why some people think gen rushing can truly be a thing. Yeah I had matches were survivors did the gens in less than 5 minutes, but it's their only objective.
Can tunneling and camping be considered a thing?
I mean, killing is the killers only objective after all.
Same logic.
-
Decent survivors complete 3 gens (60% of their objective) by the time the killer got his first hook (8% of his objective).
Looks balanced /not

I got 1 purple key and 2 red keys in a match using Elodies chest perk. That seems legit.
I love her perk! It's the best one right now.

@KayTwoAyy said:
I found 3 purple keys 3 chests in a row across two games. I was not running plunderer's or anything that would have increased my chance of finding a key.
I don't usually loot chests. But I might just get into the habit...
Rookie numbers.
I found 2 purple and 1 red key in a single match.
-
The current state of the game: drop pallets early, search chest, find key and escape.
-
If we're lucky, it's a test run like Pallet Factory.
If we're unlucky, it's a bug that becomes a feature, because of the spaghetti code.
-
As others have already said. There are not enough killers around. That's why survivors have long queues.
Maybe the hype of the new RE killer will change that. If it's an iconic and strong killer...
But then again, if the killer is strong enough to make a difference, people will ask for nerfs and the devs will give in. So we go back to square one.
At least it has been like that in the past.
-
@Aztreonam78 said:
Probably not, he might be stronger than Pig, but still.
The most recent patch didn't address his core issues. He is incapable of pressuring multiple survivors at once, he still can be dodged around loops with walls with unacceptable easiness, his main event is the most useless power up thing in the game in comparison with Blood Fury, Corrupt Purge, even tier 3 Myers, etc.
Stronger than Pig? According to the dev stats, Pig is more lethal than Freddy, Huntress, Spirit or Nurse.
So if he was really stronger than Pig, then the devs would already swing the nerf hammer.

Thank you

What game is this quote from?

I think most people missed the rank 20 part. This is the experience that new players can expect when they join in after the RE chapter release.

The most demanded nerf from killers.... and killers are still complaining... you can’t win with these guys LOLLLL
Might be, because this issue hasn´t been adressed.

OK well - it's gonna be awhile. There are many reasons you could be facing higher ranks, but honestly - rank does not equal skill in this game.
Rank 17 means he hasn´t even passed the 10 hour mark. So please, don´t come with the rank doesn´t equal skill.
This shouldn´t be a thing.
@PJN_GAMING I´m so sorry that you have this experience. The problem right now is, that there are not enough killers around. Thats the reason why you get matched with higher ranks.
-
Maybe with the RE release.

@MojoTheFabulous said:
I understand what you mean but it'd be pretty terrible of them to release 2 killers that function basically the same back to back.
They would change the tricksters power before the launch of the next chapter.
-
@ChurchofPig said:
They buffed Twins right after releasing and for a few patches they did mini buffs to Twins, so I don't think testing is why they were so fast to buffing Trickster. Also, I feel like if they were to do this sort of test it would be a few chapters before instead of the chapter right before. Just in case the concept doesn't work as well as expected and they need to start from scratch.
Edit: I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely made Trickster underwhelming to make the hype for Resident Evil even larger, then later he'll get a good rework to make him more viable.
Making a killer bad on purpose? Twice in a row?
-
Most people would prefer the old resident evil villians over the new one.
After all, we even have movies about them.

@KayTwoAyy said:
This is some bat-######### crazy tinfoil hat-type conspiracy theorizing. ...but I kinda like it.
Realistically tho, I don't think that is what is going on, because it suggests the developers do not feel confident in their ability to design and refine new killers. It also means that when the RE content drops, the spotlight is going to be taken off of say... Nemesis and placed on Trickster instead--because technically, Trickster is the "new" killer in that moment.
Nemesis would just be a reskin of a killer the community already knows and despises.
A reskin of a killer who was just a testrun. I imagine, that they give the trickster a different power BEFORE the RE chapter launches.
-
@ethan99 said:
Maybe the new killer will be Nemesis with a gatling gun.
Thats what i mean. Maybe the License agreement had some pretty strict rules and they wanted to test the water with a unlicensed chapter.
-
I really hope that we get 2 survivors.
-
Getting the RE license will boost this games sales and new player influx.
More players means shorter queues (at least when they want to play different roles).
So what's not to like about it?
-
While I agree that new players should be given more breathing room and nice first expressions, I also remember past events where people depiped on purpose to rofl stomp new players.
Appealing to players to not be toxic won't work. Since some people feast on the after match salt.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. I think that the devs will release/announce the release of the new mmr during the anniversary stream. So that it releases together with the new chapter and new players will mainly face each other.

Killers already suffer from 4 hooks by the time all gens are completed.
Your idea would make them uncatchable once the gates are powered.

And he’s also dominated with pre buff wraith and ghostface
I´ve seen similar problems with other streamers, playing other killers.
But whenever i say something is wrong, when survivors complete 60% of their objecive, while the killer just got 8% finished, then people just try to blame anything but the horrible balance this game has.

Well no offence to tru but he’s not the best when it comes to using his games as examples
But he's someone who plays for a living. So if someone who plays 6 hours every day, gets constantly gen rushed, then there is something fundamentally wrong with the balancing.

None of the given advice is remotely applicable to a killer like Trickster. Do you have any idea how long it takes to down someone as him? I merely happened to down and hook a completely different survivor when the final gen popped and that person literally got a free escape just because they had DS. Now that is blatant injustice.
No one can give you any advise on Trickster, because he´s still trash.
I just saw Tru3 attempt his adept and all matches had 3 or 4 hooks by the time the gates were powered.
-
May i suggest that you switch to survivor? Sure, you get a long queue. But at the end of the day, you´ll feel much better than playing killer.

Yeah its sad, isnt it ? Its pretty similar for me, old Freddy was the first Killer that i played regularly and pretty exclusively.
It´s really sad. Freddy mains knew exactly what QoL changes he need. But the devs ignored the proposals and created a new killer from scratch. No one asked for this.

Wut? Hit are decided on the killer's side already also hitbox are larger than the weapons & actual skin you use.
Hit detection is server sided. For the rest what you said= wut?

Let's see.
Hag wouldn't put down a trap in that situation, she shut down bigger loops
Huntesss & Deathsligner-> it depend on how tall the tile is
Spirit-> we really don't give a ######### if she get run on a small loop
Plague->If survivor cleanse then she have a strong ranged power so same as Huntress/Deathsligner if they don't then all she need is 1 hit to down survivor once they are injure.
So yeah it happen, on loop where the killer's power doesn't shine. 110% Killer have strong power, what do you want? Survivor not being able to run them on any tile at all? I guess we should remove pallets in your games.
Oh killers having the same hitbox as survivors would be nice. So mindgames would be really mindgames.

I agree, but then there's balance and then the fact that matchmaking itself still doesn't change. But I do agree, we need more killers. At this point, I don't care if they're licensed or not.
With more killers i mean more players.
-
We need more killers. There are simply to many survivors for the few killers we have. That needs to change.
-
I hoped that the newly implemented hook counter would give the devs an idea of how fast gens are done. Most of my solo survivor matches, the killer gets his first hook after 3 gens were completed.
But since the counter counts kills/disconnects as 3 hooks, even when a survivor dies on the first hook, i doubt anything will change.
-
No one understands the Twins nerf. It´s probably based on her kill rate. That must be high, even when only 3 people main her.

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree that his powers are entirey overkill. Imho Freddy is currently a 'Jack of all trades, master of none' which makes him difficult to balance and a bit boring compared to other killers, who can generally fill the same niches better. (Want to teleport and place traps? Play Hag. Want to slow Survivors and shut down loops by slowing them or effecting them? Play Clown or Doctor. Want to sneak up on your targets? Play literally any stealth killer in the game. The list goes on.)
But still, I do think that Freddy's current kit is more streamline and easy to understand from both sides. I kinda just wish that they could give him a better mix of both powers, where it was something that was easy to understand the basics of, but had a lot you can learn playing with and against it. (While also being at least decently fun for both sides.)
Nah, i prefer the old Freddy. I mained him but now i only touch him for a daily.

This entirely. I had started playing the game during the time of Legion release, and while I understood the basics of his power as a Survivor, there were a lot of things about it that were very confusing to me and didn't make much sense.
I wouldn't mind seeing old Freddy make a return, even if it is only for nostalgia- but I do think his abilities are much more streamline and easy to understand in their current state.
His powers now are overkill. Teleporting, pallets and puddles on top of sleeping. They changed so much, that they have no idea how to nerf him now.

You mean the 110% killer that all have strong power that can down a survivor easily? Or many of the 115% that also have strong anti looping power?
There are only so few tiles where you need to loop more than 3times as killer before forcing a pallet or get a hit and I'd argue that on those tile you'd rather go chase someone else to get more pressure/value.
It's unbelievable how many DBD player are entitled survivor or killer main who think they are god at the game and would never consider making some mistakes.
A 110% killer that gets run around a tight obstacle and therefore can´t use his power at all. Because whenever you try to use the power, you get slowed down even further.

Yep.. He was INCREDIBLY popular during his week of release (20m killer queues lol) only to be nerfed so badly so quickly and was promptly forgotten and shoved into the m1 killer bin by the greater community. What makes things worse was that all the complains were so stupid, like complaining about his lunge being long (same as every other 115..) or his invisibility being unfair (even though survivors had 7 seconds of literal Godmode when they could see him which is more than enough to make it to a pallet or vault)
People could also use SC behind a pallet, fail a skill check and now they were immune for another 7 seconds.
I think he was only so popular, because he released during Halloween, during a double (or was it tripple) BP event, which also had a free steam weekend. People complained that they faced him every match for 2 weeks (unlike new killer releases we have right now).

If you ran a tile for more than 3-4 times then you're doing it wrong.
You never got looped with a slow killer, huh?

Obviously Killer mains complained way more, but Survivor mains (lower ranked ones) still complained about how he was miserable to play against. Miserable to verse for lower ranks, abusable versus higher ranks.
Well, they obviously complained. Because they didn´t know how to play against him. Since he was a rare view, they didn´t learn to adapt to him. Experienced SWF players had an easy time against him. Using his 7 second timer to heal/protect downed survivors near the exit gate.

Me too. I just don't think it was fair of Behavior to completely cut Freddy's old power from the game like that and screw over everyone mained and liked him.
He just needed some QoL changes and not this whole rework.
I think the main issue was, that since so few survivors faced him, they never learned what his power actually did.
-
@TAG said:

That is not what I am referring to. I am referring to all the complaints after he was initially nerfed that eventually led to him being completely reworked.
After his initial nerf he got little to no complaints from survivors. Main reason was, that his popularity dropped and very few people actually faced him outside of noob ranks.
I remember some people calling him boring, after getting a perfect 12 hook, double pip, 32k match. While others enjoyed playing against something else than Nurse on red ranks.
