Add a totem counter to the perk Small Game.
-
In video games, the monster's final form should be more difficult to beat than its original form. Players shouldn't reach a point in the game before it's even over and be like, "Woohoo, it's easy street from here! I'm home free!" Once those exit gates are powered, the killer becomes much weaker; NOED makes the killer dangerous again.
I don't like dying to NOED, but there are multiple reasons why I don't think it should be removed from the game. (Other reasons: It counters Adrenaline. It encourages survivors to take some time away from gens and cleanse dull totems. It can be used for an end-game build.)
The perk Small Game should have a totem counter.

As survivor I like it if the killer have no ruin. that usually are the easiest games you have.
5 gens in under 4 mins are possible then even without good comrades.
Are easy games fun? A match that provides no challenge, just doing a quick gen repair sim, is that actually fun?

If you don't want a 4k then your only person I have ever met read about seen or any other form of knowing someone that has said that cause all I see and hear is if I don't get a 4k survivors are to over powered and are spooned fed everything. It's the case I play both sides on Xbox and yes something's can get annoying on both sides but every time something gotta get nerfed the survivors have to feel it too and it's not like insta heals are that common or that easy to use but I understand killers are apparently the majority vote here.
I'm pretty sure I and some other players have also said on these forums that we don't care about getting a 4k.
Instaheals are OP and definitely need to be changed. Winning a chase just to have someone else run in and bring the survivor from dying to healthy before I can even finish wiping my blade... another player described it as "a kick in the teeth," and I agree with that description. It's not fun. And the higher the ranks I play against, the more I see at least one survivor bringing an instaheal; they're not that rare.
-
... dear god, I really don't want broken sounds go live. It's already bad with the loud chase music, I can't take them getting even worse again.

How does console get in on this?
It hasn't been released, yet; it's on the PTB (PC only). Once it's ready, it'll be released for real on PC and consoles all at the same time. The Halloween events starts Oct 22, so it'll be released by then.

Except the problem with this is you'd have to play probably 7 games a day for an entire month to complete the battle pass, and that's probably completing a challenge every match. 3-5 points out of 10(from what I'm seeing) per challenge, 100 levels. Even completing 5 point challenges only, you'd have to play 200 games, and that's getting a challenge done every game. No one's gonna complete this without paying for extra levels. Just like Fortnite. THIS is why I'm against battle passes. They lure you in with cosmetics and say "You can get all this if you just get to level 100", then make getting level 100 near impossible and offering a way to speed up your progress by paying more money. This is why I don't understand people being for this. Unless they're gonna spend way more than 10 dollars every month.
I could swear I remember it being said that it would take about an hour a day of playing. I don't know how they came to that number or if it includes lobby wait times or anything.
If it does take a ridiculously long time to complete, then I hope people won't put money into it. You can play on the free path, see how far you get, and then if it'd be worth it you can buy a premium pass to unlock stuff retroactively; that seems like the smart thing to do.
-
I feel you, MasterUff. It sucks when this happens. I wish there were something to prevent survivors being able to hold the game hostage, but until then, equipping Whispers has been my best defense against it. Hopefully, one day we won't have to equip a perk to prevent survivors from breaking the rules.

BBQ requires a hook and shows the auras of survivors outside a certain range. Deerstalker shows the auras of [downed] survivors within a certain range.

in seriousness it would be a cool edition to the game if done right.
ex a basic killer with nothing too unique of power has a mori where he/she rips the spine out of the survivors back. Even though nothing about the mori connects to either lore or power
Wraith ripping out a survivor's spine would actually fit his lore.

The only thing in a game that I might find relaxing is like picking fruit and decorating my house in Animal Crossing. But dude, when I'm fishing in Animal Crossing, I'm constantly yelling swear words.
Fishing. In Animal Crossing.
It's a good thing those poor animals can't hear me.

Yeah I understand that Devour Hope and Judith's Tombstone would still allow players to obtain the trophy, but it would be very hard. It would also force players to use Hag's perk (meaning they would need to buy/unlock Hag or Devour Hope in the shrine of secrets or play as Myers).
I don't actually think they should get rid of mori offerings. Or if they did, it should only be to make them base kit, so you can use them on any survivor who's dead on hook. The mori animations are so much more fun than dying on the hook, anyway.
-
I want gore.
I WANT GORE.
GIMME.
New, even more violent moris. More blood. Survivors gaining wounds when they get hit. I want it all!
-
@Dr_Loomis said:
What about the 'Blood On Your Face' trophy? Not saying it's a valid argument to keep Ebonys in but the achievement would be near enough impossible without it.
I completed the achievement using Hex: Devour Hope, personally; took many matches, but it avoided the problem of using up all my Ebony Mori offerings just to have survivors disconnect first thing.
-
Maybe a way to help stop DCing would be to give some bonus BP just for making it to the end of the match. Or something like the first survivor who dies gets a small amount, second gets a little bit more, third gets a little bit more, and the fourth survivor to die gets the most. Just a bonus to encourage players to stick around.
If a survivor or killer thinks they're going to have a miserable match, they don't really have any incentive to stick around. A BP bonus wouldn't matter to everyone, but it might matter to some.
-
Kate's my main survivor and the first character in the game I P3'd.
And she's hot.
-
The mori offerings should be removed and being able to mori a survivor when they're dead on hook should be base kit.
There, fixed.
-
Is this a PTB change or something? 'Cause in my survivor match today a Myers smacked me on the hook repeatedly.

It has always been the same with any event.
Take the 2017 one which ran from 26th to the 1st that was shorter than this but people did it.
2018 was longer 14 days but it was second objective they addes and you could only get so much per trial and the games could take longer if people tried and didn't suicide after filling a vial which hurt both sets of players.
This one like I said no longer has the second objective so its 4 days shorter to 10 like the 2017 one.
It's relative to how long it takes and no one know the finer details but I can see it like the past ones where you play the offering and for each gen/hook done you get rewarded. It's just how many gens or hooks you need to play for each piece that is the only relevant factor.
Like I said, it's not necessarily about earning/grinding out the cosmetics, it's just about getting to have the game be Halloweeny for longer. To me, more Halloween = better. More horror movies, more Halloween decorations in stores, more themed stuff in general. That a horror game doesn't take full advantage of October just makes me sad.
-
Battle Passes are an iffy thing. I've never played a game that had one before, so this is new to me. I like having goals, and I understand that game developers need to keep bringing in money to keep online games alive...
Loot boxes and gacha mechanics, mobile games where you pay to play for more than five minutes a day... those are bad. At least with this you're not forced to pay; you can play all day for free if you want, no limits. You can still unlock some things on the free path. You know exactly what you're getting: you're not gambling. You can wait to see how much you've unlocked on the free path before buying the premium pass so you don't pay in and then never earn anything.
I dunno, it's not live, yet, it's hard to judge how it'll really be. And "well, at least it's not cancer like some other games I've played" might not be the best way to judge a new mechanic, but it's not like saying I don't like it will stop it from happening, so... I guess I'll find out what I really think when it goes live.

Less time means little since its all about how easy they are to get. Remember the last one you had to do pustuals and fill vials now it's just gens so its relative to what needs done.
They are free if you can play over the period as you do tour normal objective and you can chose a skin no money has to change hands.
In reality they don't have to give anything away for any event but they do and people still complain it's not enough or they don't have the time.
So I guess they are damned if they do and damned if they don't as some are just not thankful for what they can get just what they feel they can't.
It's not even necessarily about needing more time to grind the stuff, but it'd be nice to have longer just to enjoy the event itself... it's fun to have new stuff in the game, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it's unfortunate that a horror game doesn't take full advantage of October's connotation with horror.
-
Actually, if you're the unlucky/weak-link survivor who always gets hooked first, Deliverance is suck and Slippery Meat + chalk pouch offering is awesome.
-
Maybe. You can play the free path and, if you buy the premium later, it unlocks the premium stuff retroactively.
If I play enough that the premium pass would unlock a lot of stuff, then yes, I'll totally buy it.
-
...or get rid of the cool down so there doesn't have to be any new distracting noise in the game; Nurse is loud and noisy enough as it is [[whoosh]] [[screech]] [[sigh]] [[smoker's breathing]].

There are a lot of other games and non-gaming activities available. Why do you prefer to collect cosmetics in a game you don't want to play (I am making this claim based on you not having a reason to play currently) instead of doing something else?
I just need goals; I feel aimless if I don't have goals to work towards. That's true for any game. Right now I'm playing Catherine: Full Body to unlock the achievements. I love Catherine, but I don't know that I'd be as motivated to play it if I didn't have the achievements to work towards.
I don't know that I'll buy the Battle Pass for DbD, to be honest; I'll see how far I get doing it free, first, 'cause if the grind is too much then obviously it wouldn't be worth it to put in the money. I'm not one for gambling.
-
Well, the Battle Pass only costs $10, and most cosmetic sets each cost $10... plus charms and earning some/all of your Auric Cells back... if there's not even one full cosmetics set you want in the Battle Pass, then there's also the option to wait 6 months until whatever cosmetics you do want are released in the store...
Dunno, the Battle Pass doesn't seem so bad to me. I'm looking forward to having a new reason to play, 'cause I've gotten most of the achievements I can (the achievement for getting 100 24+ metre hits as Huntress is waaay outta my reach, which has me rather bummed), so I need some new goals to work towards. I'm hoping the Rift/Archives will be fun and not annoying.

Like with anything people see any change in this game as bad when it affects how they played.
I like the changes even though it's not much of a nerf. I mean free borrowed time for an anti tunnel medkit or an 8 seconds heal which is quick isn't the end of the world as they still give the player an extra hit.
They are still very strong and just stop the instant pick up/heal in the killers face scenarios which tbh felt like a kick in the teeth after you earned a hit/down.
I agree: they feel like a kick in the teeth.
The way instaheals have been used is not okay. Depending on my mood or how early in a match it's used, I have two reactions to instaheals as killer: 1. I don't care about anyone else, but you are dying; 2. screw this, I'm standing in a corner, you guys can play a gen repair sim. The earlier in the match it's used, the more likely I am to ignore the survivors and let them play by themselves; I lose nothing except a pip, and I don't care about that.
The changes are interesting: free Borrowed Time, which means an injured survivor can tank an instadown, and the 8 second heal, which is still a good deal, 'cause the survivor can be doing whatever else during that time, working on a gen or continuing to loop the killer. These are still strong add-ons, they just can't be used in quite such dickish ways: no more picking up a downed survivor in the killer's face or suddenly healing on the other side of a pallet.

? They're out on console too
They're definitely out on PS4, I took a look at them in the store.
-
Fatigue or cool down. Having both seems like too much.
I'm on PS4, so I can't test her out, but she's a pain in the ass to play as is. Her add-ons definitely needed a rework, I never used any of them except to get the 3-blink-grab achievement. I don't get why BHVR always changes a whole bunch of things at once instead of making little changes to see what effect those have, first. Like gutting Legion's power instead of just making a couple changes, and then if he was still broken they could make a couple more changes, etc.
In terms of playing Nurse, the addition of the cool down seems annoying. I'm not saying it weakens her too much, I just care about killers being fun to play, and having this cool down on top of the fatigue seems like it'll be annoying.
-
I've been playing Legion recently. I keep having survivors disconnect, even though I constantly forget to use his Feral Frenzy power, so I'm mostly just chasing them around as a normal M1 killer and they spend little to no time mending in the matches. I use no add-ons, my perks are Beast of Prey, Distressing, BBQ, and Whispers. And survivors still disconnect.
One survivor seemed to want to loop and bully me. As the match progressed, my performance got better (and I remembered I'd lowered my sensitivity, oops, put that back on 100% because it's needed on PS4). One gen left, she was dead on hook, I hit her with Feral Frenzy, then I was about to down her and she disconnected. My friend watching was like, "Well, that was pointless." I seem to have at least one disconnect per match, some matches are a suicide-on-first-hook plus a second survivor disconnecting. -_-
Never had this happen so much as other killers.
-
I'm working on prestiging all my killers, because I'm a completionist. It's not really about being "worth it" to me so much as it would bug me for all eternity if I didn't do it. I get a sense of satisfaction from doing it.
If you're not a completionist, then it comes down to, do you want the bloody cosmetics? Because there's really no difference in the Bloodweb RNG.
-
I play DOAXVV; DbD is still simple compared to that game. lol
It seems to be becoming a pretty common thing in games, really.

Insta-heals were never overpowered. Both of them can be made useless by bringing Franklin's Demise, and when they were used, they only saved 16/32 seconds of healing time, once. The strongest toolboxes in the game save a comparable amount of time, but they didn't get nerfed.
You can't pop a 0% generator in the killer's face in the middle of a chase with a toolbox. You could use an instaheal in the middle of a chase. You could use an instaheal on a survivor just put into the dying state to get them back to healthy, completely negating all the time the killer just spent chasing that survivor down.
Instaheals weren't used to save 16/32 seconds, they were used to lengthen chases.
-
I picked her originally 'cause I like Asian horror. I also like that she can spook survivors by appearing right on top of them when they're not expecting it.
-
Would you prefer advertisements within the game? Billboards on the maps telling us to drink Mountain Dew and eat Doritos?
That sounds snarkier than I mean it. Serious question, though, would you prefer in-game advertisements?

Its because the update isn't ready/just now entered testing.
The event is directly tied to the rift for progressing so its relies on it.
I meant in general, because last year it didn't start until the 19th, which is only 3 days earlier than this year.
I understand why it starts a bit later this year, but it'd be nice if they'd extend it a little longer into November, because last year's event already felt short and this one is even shorter.
-
I really hope they extend the event. I don't get why they don't have it take up the majority of October. October is horror month. It's Halloween! It's be nice if it were a bigger thing than just the very end of the month.
-
I deal with it by not taking it seriously. What I mean is, when I get frustrated with it (which I do), I remove all my perks and put on one perk, something like Deja Vu, and I go in knowing I'm going to die and just... try to screw around. I'll do stuff so stupid that I've actually lost killers in chases because they probably thought "no one's stupid enough to keep running in circles around this object."
I've noticed that sometimes the dumber I act the longer I live. If I'm running around at the beginning of the match fast-vaulting windows and making a lot of noise, I am often not the first survivor the killer chases. If I try to be stealthy and work on a totem, the killer comes straight to me.
I'll try to find something else to focus on rather than surviving. For a while, I equipped only Slippery Meat, burned Chalk Pouch offerings, and saw how often I could get myself off the hook. I also tried putting on DS, Flip Flop, Unbreakable, and Tenacity to see if I could ever pull off using all four perks in one game.
(Not saying these are good ways to deal with it or that they'll work for other people; this is just how I try to deal with the hell that is playing solo survivor.)
I'll also take long breaks from the game, only playing one match a day for the dailies, because sometimes there is just no way to get past how frustrating DbD can be.
-
Playing on PS4 against Nurses with no/crappy add-ons, there were many times I escaped without ever getting hit just by running in a straight line. They couldn't catch up. That was without a cool down. That was without me having a single exhaustion perk.
Nurse is screwed in a chase, now.
Also, if you use the 3-blink add-on and end up on Hawkins, you won't be blinking anywhere. That map is pretty much nothing but line-of-sight breakers.
-
If the killer gets to the exit gate before the survivor has finished opening it, the killer usually wins.
Why should it be different if the killer gets to the hatch before the hatch has opened?
-
I don't know how they could make her easier to play console... unless they fixed the frame rate, fixed the sensitivity, and sent everyone a mouse and keyboard to use with their game... but hey, I'd support that initiative!
-
Some killers will go after a recently unhooked survivor just to eat their DS and make sure it's not in play during the end game. That's a fair tactic; DS during the end game is ridiculously strong.
So no, DS should not activate twice.
-
I'd say just make it base kit. It's so situational, the last survivor left dies immediately on the hook, anyway.
From the matches I've had, most killers who burn these don't get to use them. I've seen killers screw themselves out of a kill trying to get use out of a Cypress Mori. Their complete refusal to hook me was good for me but unfortunate for them.
-
Game developers don't always know how perks will be used by players. It's possible they didn't foresee killers equipping a mori and tunneling the obsession out less than 60 seconds into a match just to proc Dying Light.
They're not going to tell killers "don't camp or tunnel," because it's too contextual, how would you judge each individual time it happens to determine whether it's okay or not? If you ban for something, the line has to be very clearly defined. However, they want playing survivor to be fun, otherwise no one will play survivor and then there'll be no game, so they don't want to encourage tunneling.
Changing a perk to slightly cut down on tunneling is a lot easier than having to deal with a million reports every day by every survivor who didn't like the way a match went.

Times like this make me grateful that I can see my achievement progress on Steam. I need 50 more tiers up as Myers for his 300 stalks, and while it was demoralizing to see I needed so many before, watching the bar go up is very satisfying 🤗
Good luck on the Huntress achievement! It took a lot of time for me just to get 20.
I envy you guys being able to see your achievement progress. That'd be so nice. I got out a piece of paper to start keeping track of how many 24-metre+ downs I get from here on out as Huntress. In a couple hours of playing today, I got... 3. -_-
Thanks! I wish Sony weren't such a hard ass and would let devs change achievements, then it'd only be 20 for us, too. Ah, so jealous.
Good luck on the Myers one. :) I'm sure it won't take you too long.
-
Do bones.
And NOED counters Adrenaline. For NOED to be removed, Adrenaline would have to go, too.
Sure, as survivor it sucks to cleanse four dull totems and still go down to NOED, but maybe that's on me and I should leave at least one up in case I can't find the fifth, then it's a 50/50 chance of which one is NOED.
Ever start cleansing a dull totem, the last generator pops, and then suddenly your totem is lit and a second later you've cleansed NOED? That's the best feeling.

I had my first hostage situation today, as a survivor. We 3 genned ourselves, and the killer wouldn't stop camping the gens, not even to chase us down, so what are we supposed to do? Walk up to the killer and let him get 4 free kills? No we went to the other side of the map and waited until he DCd it's the only option.
The only killer that can actually hold you hostage in a 3 gen situation is the Doctor. If he keeps shocking you and putting you into Madness Tier 3, you literally can't do gens, and if he refuses to kill you, then you can't leave without disconnecting. No other killer can do that. And, if the Doctor does try to kill you, then he isn't holding you hostage.
If you refuse to attempt the objective, which is completing the gens in order to escape, then you are the ones holding the killer hostage.

Oh, I see. Well then, I'm guessing it's because most survivors, like me, didn't realise that traps only trigger at the gates if they're active. I'd certainly not come across that fact before, I feel like it's only something you'd know if you had read the wiki or played Pig a lot, or if someone told you about it. The general understanding is just "you can't leave through the gate if you have a trap on your head", which apparently is not entirely accurate. But that's how most survivors see it, I think.
Dang, I thought everyone knew about the way they nerfed Pig when the End Game Collapse was introduced. Yeah, once the EGC became a thing, Pig's RBTs changed so that they only activate if a gen pops. If you put an RBT on a survivor after all five gens are done, it's basically just a pretty hat.
Also, I'm fairly certain that if the Pig carries you all the way into the exit gate (past the second pillar) and drops you at the very edge, you can just leave. It's not leaving that detonates the trap, but passing that second pillar inside the gate area. Pigs have tried to force-detonate the traps by carrying survivors past the second pillar only to find out that they just gave the survivor a free escape lol.
The more you know. :)
-
@Fibijean said:
To be fair, I wouldn't think it that surprising that survivors try to get the traps off after the last gen pops. They can't just run out the gate, so what other option do they have? Find and fight over the hatch?
What do you mean? If you put the trap on them when the exit gates are already open, the trap isn't activated and they can just leave.
