  • I'm not that well versed on DBD lore but I do find your theory interesting since the Unknown and the Dredge share the same map offering, with their maps being located in the same realm (Withered Isle) and the Dredge came into being as a manifestation of people's negative thoughts and emotions. So the Unknown manifesting itself with the thoughts and beliefs of people as its source makes a lot of sense if you take its (faint) connection to the Dredge into account.

But like I said, I don't know that much about DBD lore. So maybe I'm sputtering nonsense lol.

  • Something similar happened to me two days ago, and I was playing Freddy of all killers, lol. But at least one of the survivors was super laggy (like, running in a straight line and suddenly teleporting back where he was 10 whole seconds ago) so it might have been a server issue.

  • Everyone who says "but this would force people to play a role they do not want to" 1. no, you could simply continue to queue as killer and eat the queue just as you do rn 2. yea in a perfect world killer players wouldn't need to wait 20 min to play their preferred role but this is not a perfect world and any system that can patch it up a bit is highly welcome. I'm also certain that the killer players who would rather eat a 20 minute queue each time than touch survivor with a 10 ft pole are a minority. It's not a perfect solution, but it would still be something.

I do see the point against needing to escape to earn the priority pass though. It's a system that would need a lot of polishing, probably making it BP based would be a better choice, but it could work. And like I said, at least it's something.

  • A fellow Doctor connoisseur! I understand the way you feel because I experience the same. I'm very introverted, socially anxious, and my voice doesn't help me engage in videogame communities either, for the very same reasons you explained. I, too, get killer anxiety. And contrary to what happens to most, it's even worse in 2v8 because when it's 1v4, if I ######### up, it only affects me. If I ######### up in 2v8, I'm screwing up the game for someone else, too.

My advice would be, in all honesty, not to play killer in 2v8. The queue is insanely long and most games it's not worth it. Go for 1v4 matches instead. Close the chat so you don't see what the other players say to you. Try to imagine that everyone else is a bot. Use anonymous mode. And if the matches get too toxic, take a break. Some players in this community can be nasty, in both sides to be honest. And if you suffer of a short temper like me, try to remember that it's just a game and that some matches will just be miserable. Sometimes you'll get looped for ages and survivors will teabag at every pallet and they will flashbang and flashlight and blast mine you a trillion times. And then they'll be toxic in endgame chat and call you trash. It happens. Don't let it get to you. Easier said than done, tho. Most times I see so red that I end up lashing out on unrelated folks (like, family or friends) and then feel like #########. But I believe it's an ability you can train, you know? Not letting it get to you.

Besides, if you wanna improve at killers' basics, try playing Wraith like someone up here said. He's a fairly simple killer who will allow you to learn the core mechanics and strategies without having to worry about anything else, since his power is so straightforward. You can also watch some content creators play, since they usually offer very useful tips! Especially if you ever want to start learning a new killer. Watching someone else play them and absorbing every little piece of advice they provide can make the learning curve much easier.

It does get better. Some years ago I used to get a stomachache simply from sitting down and queueing as killer. Now I get a bit nervous but it's not as bad.

  • Billy, Nurse and Blight are the strongest. I'd argue that Billy and Nurse are on the same level, Blight is slightly behind. Then come Huntress and Spirit. Though Huntress in the hands of a very skilled Huntress main is on par with Billy and Nurse tbh. Wraith and Slinger are good but on the weaker side. And then there's Trapper lol.

  • In my games, medkits, flashlights, and toolboxes came in clutch multiple times tbh. Especially the latter. Gen speeds are already insane so if you add toolboxes into the mix they get even crazier.

I admit that totems are useless. But I love doing bones and I love getting bloodpoints for it, and besides they are multiplied due to the 250% BP bonus >:) I'm getting a couple totems done every game and most time we are still winning by a landslide. Gen speeds are so crazy that I honestly can afford doing a couple of bones with no punishment whatsoever. I'm just playing the mode for bloodpoints if I'm honest.

  • I started playing way less back in 2022 and completely dropped the game in 2023. Just came back a couple months ago. Reasons for the break were that my previous PC was getting old and the game performance was terrible and that the friends that I used to play with weren't playing anymore. Now I just main killer and occasionally play solo q.

  • @GeneralV said:

I don't have much to say about cooldowns, mobility or skill. Not this time.

I just think Hillbilly is fun to go against. Especially before Overheat and Overdrive. OG Hillbilly was perfect.

THIS. Overheat was unneeded and Overdrive is just stupid. OG Billy was perfect and probably my favorite killer to go against in all DBD history. Wish they would just revert him.

  • I don't mind playing against Huntress but I sure got her lullaby burned into my eardrums holy #########.

  • Any short-tempered (even better if they're on the older side of things) killer with Legion. Deathslinger, Dracula, Houndmaster, Oni… Imagine how annoyed they would be at having to team up with a bunch of teenagers, lol.

    Singularity and Unknown sounds like a cute duo. Idk why it just does ;_;

Doctor and Chucky. They could laugh together about the whole thing!

Gen speeds have always been crazy even in the regular 1v4 mode.

They are much crazier in 2v8 considering the survivor/gens they need to complete ratio is smaller and there are zero slowdown perks/add-ons. I do agree that gen speeds are still a problem in 1v4 but this is wayyyyyyy worse.

  • Big agree!!!!

  • To begin with, gen speeds are insane and there's no arguing with that. However, I think that the worst problem in 2v8 is that it depends a lot on the killer duo you get, even more than in 1v4. In 1v4, killers on the weaker side of things can compensate their own weaknesses by running perks that synergize with their powers and somewhat strong add-ons. And change their playstyle according to their perks/add-ons. In 2v8, the weaker killers get pretty much no perks nor add-ons. So stronger duos have a much better time than weaker ones, even when compared to 1v4 where stronger killers do have an advantage over weaker ones, but at least the weaker ones have some tools to compensate.

Gen speeds are crazy tho. No matter what killer you're playing.

Conveniently omitting the fact that a 2v8 lobby requires 6 more surv players than killer ones, I see.

The ratio is the same as for 1 v 4 (4 survivors per killer) so, following your logic, those 250% BP boosts to survivors should be happening in 1v4 as well. And yet…

  • Just played a game as Wraith and I can confirm this happened to me too. It's not THAT much of a big deal but it is there and it makes him feel super clunky, lol.

Your point about the bonus is irrelevant. In my region it’s a 50% bonus for killers.

I don't intend to call you a liar but there's NO way lmao

They changed it because the Devs want to have the a already Survivor Sided Mode easy for Survivor this is also why they increased the Gen Speed so Survivors wins more often

Yessssssssssssss the mode is so survivor sided that these are currently the incentives in my server. So many people who want to play survivor right now!

Enough us vs them narrative holy #########.

  • Maybe Unbreakable could remain as is, but reactivate if everyone in the match is slugged, to counter killers who refuse to hook altogether without punishing those who use it as a temporary strategy. But I'm not fond of solving core game issues through perks.

Kinda unrelated but big agree on reverting the extra 10s hook timer.

  • Never tried 2 vs 8 before and I'm hype to play both roles :D

  • If you make it so that new accounts need a minimum number of comments before they can create a discussion they'll just spam every discussion with random nonsense just to build up their comment number and be able to post.

  • My most hated daily ritual by far. Wish they would simply delete it and come up with something else lol.

  • I understand where you're coming from but I'd rather tunneling itself was directly addressed instead of nerfing perks to indirectly nerf tunneling. If this was implemented the hard tunnelers would continue tunneling, they would simply not bring Pain Res and choose other perks instead.

  • If you think this is year of the survivor let me tell you that you wouldn't last an hour in 2020 DBD. Let alone in the years before that. LOL.

  • @Vishlumbra said:

Easy kill? Ok so, you have 2 survivors remaining, let’s say 1 gen left and is kinda a 3 gen set up. Both guys on dead hook. I find one and I slug him to find the other one and secure a 4K. That survivor I’m looking has options you know?

If I’m camping the slugged one, the other one can finish gen and pressure me into leaving the guy on the ground, he could hide and maybe could get him up. (Maybe the downed survivor has unbreakable?)

I can risk hooking and basically secure a 3k but risk loosing a 4K, since he has time to look for hatch while I am hooking. He gets to hatch and waits there till I go look for it, he mocks me, escapes and insults me and mocks me during after match chat.

He could hide and bleed out his buddy so he secures hatch. Same thing, so he can make fun of me at hatch and then in chat.

He can hide and wait for the guy to be hooked or die, he has key so he positions himself to open hatch after I close it.

I get to hatch, I camp it so he has to ask for it. He hates me so he finishes last gen and aims to stealth to one of the two doors.

I get to hatch, I camp it and he hides till I’m tired of waiting, he is not repairing gen so he waits till I close it and has a 50% chance of escaping through the door. (I get this 90% of the time, I had people waiting 30 mins without progressing gens so I am forced to close the hatch or wait the full hour) Then he insults me and makes a post saying every killer is toxic.

    You give up.

You try to rescue your slugged friend.

I play nice. I leave the area, they reset, I get them again and he proceeds to insult me and make a post in forums saying that they should nerf killers. Also says I am terrible and that I am a disgrace.

    Idk what’s the protocol?

I can risk hooking and basically secure a 3k but risk loosing a 4K, since he has time to look for hatch while I am hooking

This is simply not true as hatch only spawns if there's only one survivor remaining in the game. The 4th survivor cannot "look for hatch" while you're hooking because hatch does not even exist yet. Both of you get the same amount of time to look for hatch, and while it's true that it's a luck-based mechanic, the killer does in fact have an advantage since 1. killer moves at a faster base speed 2. many killers have map-traversing abilities that allow them to cover even bigger areas in a shorter time (see Blight, Nurse, Billy, Dredge, Demogorgon, etc) 3. the killer does not need to be stealthy in order to avoid being found 4. killers are actually looking either for hatch or for the last survivor, whereas the last survivor's only hope is finding hatch. As killer, if you find the survivor instead of the hatch you can chase the survivor, zoning them into an area where you know hatch is not located and effectively down them.

Like I said, there is RNG involved. Sometimes you get unlucky and the survivor finds hatch before you can find either hatch or them. Sometimes you'll hit the survivor and, with the little distance they make from your injuring them (and bear in mind that this requires them being healthy in the first place), they'll get lucky and find hatch. But it is still an RNG situation where more often than not the killer has an advantage.

  • I don't know why the perk was ever nerfed in the first place. One of my fav survivor perks ever is back!

  • I find the lack of teasers whatsoever a bit underwhelming but I feel that All Things Wicked was a special case that should not be taken as the "standard" if that makes sense. It had by far the best teasers, yes. However, many chapters before had teasers too, and they weren't as cool as All Things Wicked's. But they had teasers nonetheless.

In summary, I think that folks have set their expectations far too high and expect every original chapter to have teasers as cool as All Things Wicked had. Which is a bit too much. But this time we didn't get anything AT ALL and that is disappointing.

  • @Vishlumbra said:

All these complains are to satisfy the ego of survivors to make sure they can escape even if they lost the game. If you don’t slug the third survivor, 90% of the time the other one gets to the hatch before you.

Outcome 1, you can risk hooking, and you end up getting to the hatch before the survivor, so if you want to 4K you have to camp the hatch. Then the survivor hides for 35 mins so he can tbag you at the door he opened because you closed the hatch.

outcome 2, you don’t slug the third one, you hook him and the final survivor gets to the hatch before you.

Outcome 3, he hides and waits for you to close the hatch because he has key.

Outcome 4, you hook, close the hatch and have a 50% chance of finding him on door.

Outcome 5, you slug the third to find the final one and the third has unbreakable or not.

The end game is fine as it is and is highly inclined to a survivor surviving.

I don't necessarily agree with any of this. But the point of this poll is not to debate whether slugging for the 4K is right or necessary. It's just to see what killer mains in the forums do.

Personally I only slug if I'm doing an adept or if the survivors were toxic. Otherwise I don't even bother. Playing hide and seek with the fourth survivor while the third one is helpless on the floor is boring as ######### to me. And I don't care at all if the last one gets hatch (unless, like I said, I'm doing an adept or they were toxic).

That is just my point of view though! Others want the 4K at all costs and that's fine.

  • He's the goodest of boys, of course he deserves some pets!

  • It's not going to stop the tunneling, it will probably be abused by SWF, and I don't really agree with these patch-like solutions that require you to run a perk. Tunneling should be discouraged by basekit mechanics, not by perks. The same applies to genrushing btw, killers shouldn't need to rely on a trillion slowdown perks for the gens not to fly (kinda unrelated but I'm mentioning it before anyone jumps at me and accuses me of catering to survivor mains or whatever lol).

  • I like the stalking from afar thingy. And the fact that now survivors have double overall juice to give you, so you don't run out of power as fast as before. But I feel he could still use some QoL changes (like being able to pop your power by pressing a button instead of having to 99%). And his add-ons need further changes imo. Not a fan of Tombstone Piece remaining pretty much the same.

  • So now with Myers it's better to stalk from afar rather than close up? Or am I tripping

  • I frankly do not know why survivors do not gain passive condemned from carrying a tape anymore. The fact that they can retrieve them with pretty much no consequences is absurd.

  • Had a slugging Wraith running this yesterday :(

I never said there was a concerted gaslighting attempt from survivors. Kindly don't put words in my mouth; I don't think about people like that. Survivor players are not a hive mind or a singular person. They're just people that play the video game. Individuals.

What I did say, if you would do me the kindness of reading the stuff I write with your eyeballs Is that certain voices are amplifying a false narrative. People pick up on that and start parroting it in order to be and feel included. I already explained the logic behind it. If you want to shrug that off it's completely fine, but you're also not worth engaging with in that case.

You quite literally said "concerted gaslighting attempt". It's in your comment, word by word. And that alone is already a delusional claim. Plus, if such an attempt intends to get a certain side of the game to get a perk made basekit (UB, a survivor perk, also stated by you), it's obvious from whom the "concerted gaslighting attempt" is coming from. 2+2.

And no one "picks up" anything nor starts "parroting". It's called agreeing with someone else. I don't care about "feeling included", I simply see the people's point and agree with them. And that's probably the truth for most of the folks who have also agreed with such an opinion. Maybe you're projecting your personal need to "feel included"? First time I've ever seen someone make such an absurd claim. Lol.

"Not worth engaging with". "Not a rational actor". "Entrenched in a tribalistic mindset". Someone should get off their high horse and it's not me.

  • Some maps have become crazy small. Yesterday I played a game in a version of Suffocation Pit that I had never seen before, but which was basically the size of a matchbox. I could pretty much see all my teammates and the killer at all times.

Some maps needed to be reduced in size (and some still do… Eyrie of Crows and Red Forest, I'm looking at you) but I feel that they went a bit crazy with some of those which have been reduced. And I also find it a bit questionable that, when choosing between buffing the killers who don't have any TPs nor ways of traversing the map quickly, or reducing the size of the maps, they went for the second option. Because the killers who do have an easy time traversing the map are even stronger now. And although the rest of the killers now have an easier time, they still fall behind the ones who can traverse fast. So…

I don't really think of the game in terms of this or that main. It's tribalism and an unhealthy way of thinking about people. The folks you play against are your opposition in a game, not your enemy if that makes sense. I play whatever the incentive is anyway.

That being said basekit unbreakable is the obvious end goal of the slugging complaints, even though objective statistics and anecdotal evidence do not bear it out. It's been shown that if something is complained about enough BHVR will do something. Basekit BT(great change), anti facecamp(good change), three gen restrictions(flawed but okay change), skull woman(awful change). The natural progression is yet another powerful basekit perk and I think certain voices are trying to force that change regardless of what reality says.

It seems like you're not a rational actor though. You're entrenched in a tribalistic mindset and want something to be upset at.

Me? I'm a killer main so idk what kinda tribalism you're talking about. I'm just making fun of the idea of survivor mains planning a coordinated attack on the forums to get this perk nerfed or that perk become basekit. Which is completely delusional lol. Don't pin the us vs them mentality on me, buddy. It's your way of thinking, as understood from your own words, from the moment you said there was "a concerted gaslighting atempt" from survivors. Not mine.

  • @Ohyakno said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3834365#Comment_3834365

It's really not. I have no clue why people are pretending like it happens more often than every hundred games.

Oh wait, I do know. It's a concerted gaslighting attempt to get yet another powerful perk basekit.

"A concerted gaslighting attempt" dang survivor mains are truly evil masterminds, aren't they? With their macabre plots and manipulative shenanigans.

  • It depends on your playstyle but Head On can be fun and Poised and Solidarity were both recently buffed, so…

  • @OmegaXII said:

For some reason slugging for 4 Kills is deemed absolutely evil and bad, while rescuing last Survivor for 4 Escapes in EGC is perfectly fine. The double standard these days…

Honestly why should Killers NOT slug for 4k at first place? It contradicts with what Killer should do, 'Kill'. You can't expect every Killer to be merciful, just saying.

Rescuing the last survivor to get the 4 escape doesn't stop the killer from engaging with the game. Quite the opposite actually. Slugging for the 4K absolutely stops the slugged person from playing the game. You're lying on the floor like a moron waiting either to bleed out or for the last person to be found.

I'm not even saying that slugging for the 4K is "wrong", even if I find it boring as hell (even as killer I can't be bothered to slug for the 4K unless I'm doing an adept or the remaining survivors were BMing all game). I'm just saying that it is in no way comparable to rescuing a survivor for the 4-man escape.

  • I love how we get countless threads by survivor players explaining that slugging has become even more prevalent than before, but in all of them the killer mains who can't be bothered to play survivor to save their ######### lives are like "no it hasn't". If you got a ton of folks saying that something is happening, maybe it's because IT IS happening. You are allowed to believe that slugging is fair and you can disagree with the complaints, but what you cannot do is deny the FACTS, for the love of god. I've almost stopped playing survivor altogether because I'm sick of being slugged every match.

Nah, Sacrificial Wards work. I have seen them working as intended.

That being said, it obviously should block the Map so that situations like this should not happen. (And, also obviously, they should not be burned if no map offering is played)

    @Rudjohns said:

They are working as intended. You would have played in Badham regardless of the map offering

I can get that happening once. Hell, even twice, unlikely as it is. But over four times in a month? I'm not joking when I say I haven't seen a Sacrificial Ward do its job in the past 30 days. And both killers and survivors have been running Sacrificial Wards like crazy due to the amount of lunatics who keep sending everyone to RPD. They just do not work from my experience. I'm not saying it's impossible that I'm just MASSIVELY unlucky. But really, what are the odds?

  • This is so funny LMAO. I've had my fair share of DBD related dreams but I'm always just playing the game, no bizarre conversations with killers at all u_u

  • You weren't playing against Twins in Brazil servers by any chance, were you?

  • Sadly it is what it is. I encourage you to just try to rush the challenges accepting that you're not going to escape. And any challenge that you can do as killer (you know, those that let you choose between a survivor action and a killer action), I strongly suggest doing them as such. It's much easier to get them done as killer, from my experience killers are more likely to sweat in the event than survivors, and as killer it's easier to control the match (not saying that playing killer is easy but at least you won't be tunneled or slugged for 4 minutes straight lol).

Also there's a surplus of the fragment thingies that you need to buy all the event cosmetics. So you don't actually need to get all of the challenges done, in case that's what you're worried about. I'm sitting with like 700 remaining fragments despite the fact that I have bought every cosmetic. Try to go straight towards the end of the tome if you want Yun Jin and Trickster's skins and you'll be alright!

  • On the one hand, there's a bunch of folks who just want to sweat and ruin the event for everyone else who is actually trying to enjoy it. On the other, it's true that non-event queue times are kinda hellish rn. I must admit that at times I queued for the event without caring about it because the regular queue was taking too damn long. However, I did kick a couple of pumpkins and went into the void if I found it could be useful. But now that the event has been up for a while and that I have completed all the tome challenges, I'm not that interested in engaging with it beyond an occasional visit to the void and one or two pumpkin kicks.

However, I'm sick of the no scratchmarks bug and smoke bombs in general so since yesterday I've permanently switched to regular queue despite its long waiting time. And I also switched because I agree that it's kinda cringe to queue for the event if you're not gonna engage with it at all lol.

  • Hag, Plague or Twins. For lore-related reasons tbh. A survivor who could turn into a killer would be Sable imo. In a "meddling with darkness goes wrong" kinda way.

  • I used to run Distortion years ago, before it received its first big buff. We used to have only 3 tokens if I recall correctly, and there was no way to recharge them. You got those and that was it. And I liked to run it because back then there weren't as many aura perks/add-ons as there are now, so it was a good information tool since you could decipher what aura perks the killer was running solely from the moments when your tokens were consumed. It wasn't an OP perk but I really liked it for the information it got you.

Nowadays, that style of playing would be nearly impossible to carry out. There are so many aura perks now (and new add-ons, too) that trying to decipher what exact killer perk got your aura revealed would be tough. Especially if you're not playing SWF. In solo-Q, how could I possibly know that the killer, all the way in the other side of the map, opened a locker and got to see my aura because of Darkness Revealed? It's just sad.

This does not add much to the current Distortion debate but I do believe that the people saying that there aren't that many relevant killer aura perks are a bit delusional.

would you say the anti-facecamp meter means this function is no longer necessary?

Absolutely! That was actually my main line of reasoning a couple days ago when I was talking about this to a friend of mine. I understand why survivors used to be able to reveal you from hook. But it is no longer necessary!

  • I just want them to make it so that hooked survivors cannot reveal me :(
