The reason that killers can't crush boons base kit is because that's a very silly idea that fundamentally undercuts the entire purpose of the boon totem mechanic; it being on a perk is more justifiable, but there's absolutely no reason to make boons break on snuffing basekit.

At the topic - I'd love to see Shattered Hope have some kind of benefit if there aren't any boon totems. I don't know what, exactly, but it could be something very minor and that'd be fine. Maybe the ability to see all the dull totems? That way any cleansing would be revealed to you if there aren't boons, I dunno. Something to make it less of a gamble would be ideal.

That is not even a reason, you just gave me an opinion. Like, great? Not sure why you wasted my time to just say, "its silly" and "there is no reason" despite the TOPIC being a reason for it. You are the one going off topic with your tangent, technically. It is more of a stretch than my passive aggressive remark which is quite sad.

  • I would... Fix his zombies. Call me old fashioned.

  • The developers are killer sided which is why survivors get 10 seconds BT base kit and killers cannot crush a boon base kit when there are 5 totems and crushing one implies the survivor already got value out of it. Just saying.

Breaking news, more us vs them.

    The Forums are shocked.

All I am saying is that a killer has NEVER reached out and called me anything. Survivors do it on the regular. This is not even an "us versus them" as I play both sides. It is more of an observation, one that I happen to share with a lot of the community because I watch a lot of toxic videos and you can imagine how the ratio must be skewed. Those delusional killers are probably just survivors mains on killer given how unicorn rare they are. It would not surprise me in the slightest.

    F tier killer

Maybe not that bad, but she is closer to F than S, that is for damn sure. She is just a popular pub stomper for people who can't play Nurse or Blight. Zing.

Not really a discussion but man I have gotten pale rose first game for the last 5 or 6 times I have played dbd. I just want to play blight for a few games each night man.

This game thinks I am Shrek with how often they send me to this swamp. They should add him to the game so I can role play a bit.

  • @scawyxd said:

It seems to me that everywhere you go where there is any discussion to be had about DBD, it is entirely killer dominant. Whether it be here, the dbd discussion channel of the discord, the steam forums, they are all an echo chamber of mainly killer mains and survivor opinions are nowhere to be seen.

That being said, I would like to talk about what I think is going on with the game, the direction the game is going, and what I think will fix the game.

First I'd like to say, like most games online games that captivate people, whether that be call of duty, world of warcraft, overwatch, dead by daylight, league of legends, csgo, they all have one thing in common: they all take alot of time and grinding to get good at.

My personal experience in gaming is achieving grand master in overwatch AFTER having clocked in around 900 mccree hours, 700 genji hours, 1200 doomfist hours, 400 pharah and soldier hours, 300 zarya hours, and hundreds of hours spread across other heroes. I have played world of warcraft since its inception and have achieved gladiator multiple times with all my time spent on the game adding up to around 20k hours. I have also reached pretty high ranks in csgo in which i have about 2k hours. I say this because I think I have a generally good idea of how to get good at most video games, and that is to look up any resources, whether that be talking to other players better than you, youtube guides, even recieving coaching to guide your learning/ grinding along the way. but the one thing we cannot get past to get good at these video games is the grind. spending countless hours getting repititions and minimizing the mistakes you make.

Why do I say this? because I don't think that is what 90% of the player bases do. If you look at a game like overwatch, it literally took over gaming when it first came out, it was an amazing gaming experience that I personally have never experienced up to that point and I dont think alot of other people have. It had so much hype, so many pros playing from csgo pros, to old tf2 pros and so on. But with the hype comes the casuals, the ones that come for the skins, the lore, the playing 3 hours a week when they have any free time between the wife and kids and 10 hour a day job, kids playing the game, the people who this is their first game and they have no game sense to apply and run around like a chicken with their head cut off. And what do they do when the game is too hard? In my experience, they take to the forums and call for nerfs, they call for heroes that can counter these other heroes that they hate because what they currently have in place is too difficult to use, and they refuse to seek out answers to their problems because it involves watching a stream, and "why would i ever watch someone else play a video game" etc. I think alot of these people dont have that grind in them, and I think it is a problem when we cater to that.

So what eventually happened in overwatch is they started adding hard counters, first it was soft counters, slowly getting harder and harder til they ended up adding brigitte, (mind you, this game is a hero shooter, most of the heroes require lots of skill, mechanics, aim, game sense). What this hero did was heal the entire team in an aoe radius as long as they did damage with their m1, which was a very fast swinging flail in a big frontal cone. she also had a shield that she could use to stun people, and she also had a ranged heal ( armor packs ). and her ultimate was that it gave everyone insane armor in a big aoe radius. this character brought every dive hero (the most fun/ most mechanical skill needed/ highest skill cap/ flashiest heroes that brought many eyes to the game) to a screechign halt, and held the game in a vice grip of a meta for over a year where we only saw one comp which was 3 healers 3 tanks. it was a horrible time for the game in which it bled viewers and players. How blizzard handled this was FORCING the game to be fundamentally changed to ROLE QUE, meaning you can only have 2 of each role on the team, 2 healer, 2 tank, 2 dps, this brought many more problems, and instead of just nerfing/ reworking the hero, the game as a whole took a hit, because god forbid we remove a skill-less hard counter from the game to appease the 5,000 (tops) people that need her instead of just improving.

(edit: i'd like to point out, in a solo survivor situation, with mmr being the wacky thing it is, when i have 2 baby survivors with me and i have to play vs 1 of 10 anti looping killers, it feels very hopeless when youre 25 percent into the first gen and someone goes down instantly).

the point of me saying this is, I feel like this is precisely what's happening to this game. We see otzdarva and other killer mains go on 100 win streaks, no perk, no offering no addon bla bla bla, and yet the entire community discussions on every platform has been killers non stop asking for nerfs, buffs, etc. Why? if otz and others can play killer in any state of the game and succeed, what do you think the difference is? why do you think you shouldn't have to grind to be good at the game?

I look at this new, frankly disgusting version of dead hard, iron will etc, and i cant help but have contempt for bhvr and the people who complain on the forums endlessly. I hope this post will maybe help you reconsider the vocal minority and take a more objective look at the game when you make these changes in the future. I quit overwatch as soon as they fundamentally changed it. and I almost had to quit when i saw how my favorite perks such as DH (which i think is such a cool way to outplay a killer), bt, dh, iron will have been completely gutted.)

also before you get this image of me being some SWF discord using rat player. I want to assure you it's quite the opposite, I love solo queue. (well not really) but in any game, I hate playing in a party, I think the best way to get as good as possible is to play by yourself, develop the instincts on your own, be able to make plays and get info via game knowledge and game sense etc. I have about 1500 hours of solo q exp, I get iri 1 every reset when i am consistently playing.

this brings me to my next point: Solo queue.

You need to do something to solo queue. Often times i see my teammate sitting in a corner with birds on their head while im on hook after getting like 3 flashlight saved and doing 2 gens, then I die and maybe they die, maybe they get an undeserved escape. it makes 0 sense. Imagine having a way for them to be able to hear me and I can help them understand what to do. It's happening in the dbd discord and other discords anyway, why not just add it to the game? I know you won't remove SWF, so why not just add it to the game? seems like the logical next step, your solo players are suffering, and I think its important not to neglect them because IMO they are the ones playing the game correctly/ organically. I completely understand how annoying SWF can be to a killer, but that is 100x worse on a solo survivor. i get 1 good game like every 5 games. so please, do something

I really like this game, i don't want to see it go down the overwatch path.

edit: I wanted to add one more thought, the casuals that come and make demands are like termites for lack of a better term, they come, get the changes made, continue playing their 3 hours a week til the next big skyrim game or whatever the casual hype is about comes out, then they move to that, and the hardcore players are left with a bed post instead of the mansion of a game they had before. Games dont need to be accessible to everyone (meaning all skill ceilings dont need to be lowered, they will complain and still play, you dont have to cave to these demands.)

You talk a lot of trash about casual players for someone who thinks the game is killer sided. Rofl.

No offense, but maybe you should do what you did in Overwatch and grind out some hours first.

  • This is just as ridiculous as when survivors pretend that gen rushing does not exist because it is a valid tactic. Like, why you guys think it is a fairy tale is beyond me.

  • It depends on if the killer was a piece of work and I hoped the last survivor found hatch. Otherwise, nah, I would not care.

wow people so volatile on here im a killer main this my first survivor post and i get flamed really no room for discussion :/

I have been called the killer version of Sluzzy even though over half my posts are survivor sided. Lol.

  • Yes, you need to play to the emblem system (which is garbage) as a killer. I would not recommend doing it. I only do it for horror movie icons myself because it is so annoying.

  • @NerfedFreddy said:

Incentivise doesn't work. Only restrictions and punishment work

I can only speak for myself, but I tunneled a lot less when I needed stacks for BBQ. Now I do not care and even run Save the Best for Last which I used to consider an overrated perk (as I always went for BBQ, but now I can completely ignore the obsession).

  • I am not going to lie... I more or less agree with you. I was never going to use that perk. I do not care about that perk. It, like 90% of perks in the game, is basically unusable. I am used to it.

  • @Wowie said:

this is up there with the surrender feature as far as being the worst idea the forum has ever put forth.

A surrender option would solve all hostage related problems after 10 minutes of game time. Not a bad idea at all. Who would even be against that besides hackers, body blockers or immersed 2v1 squads? Either way, it is cringe they take your opinion seriously. Very sad.

  • Omg, Seth was right. Sadako IS broken!

  • Can we please move this feedback and suggestion to feedback and suggestions? This is taking up space in the glorious general discussion section. And also, this is very important: ****** *** *****

Never forget those words of wisdom as I will never repeat them.

  • Absolutely, and it is not because there are four of them and therefore statistically more likely to run into a toxic survivor. If this game was 1v1, survivors would still run away with their trophy. That is why they fear voice chat. They know it is true.

  • Killah as a whole is probably an 8. Survivor is maybe a 4. That being said, my ultra instinct mode lets me go to a solid 10 on Bubba and maybe 6 on survivor. That only happens when I focus and become the Addy daddy. Note: I do not actually abuse substances.

Jesus. Can you not even agree with a simple statement I make? "Fairly". Look it up in a GD dictionary. Synonym: unbiased.

Exactly, I am disagreeing with you as you specifically want biased data. No offense, but if I disagree with you a lot, you probably have some emotional opinions... Obviously. I do not do that, you need logic to win over the God of face camping.

  • @Audiophile said:

Honestly, I really blame BHVR for not being transparent and providing the community with stats and data. I firmly believe that when you look at the data fairly, nurse has the highest win rates in the game and would go beyond what is considered balanced. But I can't prove it and no one else here can prove their points either. We all have to argue our own subjective experience and things we've seen so nothing will get resolved. Bad on you BHVR.

The data is looked at "fairly." You specifically want the data from Nurse mains, lol. That is cherry picking, fam.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

No, she is not. Trapper and Myers are weaker than her.

At least Sadako has some nice mind-games with her power and teleport helps a lot for pressure on gens.

Myers is stalking you for tier 3 and he is losing 3 gens already. And even with tier 3, smart survivors will not get give him multiple downs.

Trapper? I don't need to talk about this guy right? Even best add-ons does not makes him viable.

I disagree, Myers is WAY better and Trapper is slightly better... When played properly, which also involves RNG.

So, like, yeah, maybe he is worse because he has a higher skill gap. But realistically if I was trapped in the shadow realm and I was forced to play "the worst killer" and 4k to save my soul, I would definitely love it if the Saturday cartoon villain thought Trapper was the worst killer in the game. That is all I am saying.

  • @GannTM said:

They literally just nerfed Reassurance and you’re complaining about this?

I mean, yes, they did... But that also has literally nothing to do with the topic.

  • The last patch (and we are still currently on that update, lol) was literally killer sided and it was ruining the game. Now I get why the developers are the way they are. I take it back... They do know what they are doing, as much as it pains me to admit. I was wrong.

    Please buff solo queue. 😩

  • @Plsfix369 said:

You mean the unhooker isn't a viable target for the killer? like hooking the person that just traded you for a safe unhook isn't a viable target?

It depends. A lot of them are purposely farming their teammates and survivors rarely notice. It is always my fault that immersed player poorly unhooks you and you are the only one who left scratch marks anywhere. Not that survivor who wanted you tunneled. No, they are a sweet and innocent survivor main and could do no wrong.

I am just a big mean killer with daddy issues and a horrible home life and also maybe cancer. It is strange backstory I have been given from your kind, but it find it somewhat tragic. Surely you can give this guy a break? Why do you have to be so mean to a virgin sexual abuse victim with a mental deformity such as myself? If you understand everything I have been through, surely focusing you in a video game can be slightly overlooked, no?

  • I would have rather had him pistol whip ninjas with his samurai edge.

  • Huh? Like... Against a real basement killer such as Trapper or Bubba... Sure. But, um... We can get you out against 90% of killers? What the heck are you talking about? I seriously have no clue. Nothing about the basement magically makes it impossible to save.

  • @Rise432 said:

U dont have to directly tunnel someone out, but should have someone as your primary target, if you focus on only one survivor at all time the other 3 wont have any pressure on them and work on gens with an ease

I see a lot of good players do this pseudo-tunnel style where they will focus two survivors interchangeably to avoid second chance perks and more or less ignore the other two unless they are out of position. It seems alright.

Not going to lie, if I want to win, I will hard tunnel someone. Easier that way.

  • Eh, they had a literal fix for face camping the hook, and now it is more of a deterrent. I could see why people who hate face camping would be disappointed. They went a wee bit too far with that nerf.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3148704#Comment_3148704

In which case, allow me to define my definition of "free" in relation to a "free kill" or a "free escape". The definition I am working off of is "without meaningful, consistent counterplay."

Decisive Strike, for instance, pre-6.1.0 would provide a "free escape" in that there was no meaningful counterplay during the endgame. You could eat a stun early or hope you killed them pre-endgame, one of which was not consistent, and the other of which wasn't really countering the perk since you still got hit by it.

So, say we removed Reassurance, Borrowed Time, and the post-unhook Endurance and Haste from the endgame. What meaningful, consistent counterplay is there that can be pulled off in all forms of play, not just SWF, to a killer facecamping a hooked survivor? I'd argue there's very little. Taking hits requires coordination, for example, which is something that matchmaking and a lack of information steals from solo queue.

Therefore, I would argue that Survivors require some defence, even during the endgame, to these strategies, and that through teamwork they should be able to escape using them when alone they would have struggled. Disabling every defence a Survivor has during the endgame to these strategies would, in fact, sentence a survivor to death the second they are hooked (which, again, much easier to do late-game when resources are gone). This is why I don't believe the argument that Survivors don't deserve "free escapes" is a good justification for removing every defence to camping and tunneling they have during the endgame. Simply those that lack true counterplay, such as DS or OTR, should be gone (and low and behold, they're gone).

That is completely fair. A lot of the survivor based counterplay is team work based and very unreliable as a result. Heck, during end game, my sister and I were both hooked and a Mikaela ran to me, changed her mind, booned the totem that the killer had previously snuffed from that location and let me hit stage 2. My sister was already stage 2 and she risked her dying to save me first while the other survivor was in chase this entire time, only... Towards the end of the chase, guess where she started leading the killer? Yes. To my sister.

Anyways. Long story short, as you can imagine, we were all pretty likely to die given these questionable decisions. But funny enough my sister was doing that Claudette challenge and had a full heal build, so between the two of us, we set up the gates and took the proper hits to get everyone out through the power of swf.

So that is why my opinion is kind of both ways about it. Without my sister coordinating with me, he would have gotten a 3k at least. With her, we all got out. It is such a stark difference what a tiny bit of teamwork can accomplish.

As far as end game perks, believe it or not, my only beef was with DS. I do not even care about off the record. If they want that to work during end game, I am fine with that, completely. I cried about it for so long and they finally fixed it, I could not be happier. And I DO believe survivors should have end game defenses.

  • It gives me BP and buys us (the team) more time. More importantly, there is no reason not to.

  • I am really happy with the update to be honest. Nothing to complain about. I am actually surprised they nerfed reassurance. I was not expecting that. I wanted to flex about how I was still an alpha face camping master and play around all the swf who thought they could troll a humble face camping God. Sad to see that go.

I am super excited about Wesker. This is the first killer since I joined that I believe is strong going into it. Nemesis was as well, but I was so new that I had no idea what I was talking about and he was technically already in the game by time I downloaded it.

The big winner is the BP grind reduction (but for real this time). I thought more people would be talking about that.

August 30th is when we are expecting it, but I do not believe it was officially announced.

  • I have no idea why hooks spawn while you try to solve, very strange and I thought it was a bug back in the day to be perfectly honest. Such a weird thing to intend...

  • I think your problem is that you are using a wack definition of free. Decisive literally gave you an escape without counterplay. Survivors have counterplay off the hook. It is not free. That is the difference. It is a pretty freaking huge one at that. Lol.

  • I certainly hope not. That would be really weird.

how does guardian get any value whatsoever if the unhooked survivor bodyblocks with it? its entire purpose is for running away.

You can run ahead of the killer to bodyblock them, I suppose. A lot of survivors try and fail to block me because they're too slow. This might make the difference, but as usual, you would really only run into it against SWF. And they have FAR more powerful synergy to run than circumstantially blocking the killer.

  • It got lost in the halls of the old RPD. Can you blame it? The map has been out for over an year and I still get lost.

  • I am happy they fixed the grind the way I have been suggesting since the beginning. Take that mod that felt it "didn't make sense." Get wrecked, son.

yeah if killer mains think that it's a "good balanced strong perk" you know it's trash, as useless as DS after that change

Which change? The recent one, or the initial nerf? Because survivor mains pretend the best perk in the game was trash just because it deactivated upon a conspicuous action. So I have no idea if you believe that as well, or if you are talking about the recent change than no killer is calling a well balanced, strong perk.
