It's not since Oni was released. It's been like this forever - and dedicated servers made it worse. They can improve on it, but because of the nature of centralized dedicated servers combined with that of inherent latency, it will always be there to some extent.

I don't think that's quite right.
Tru3 is a very talented player. The problem is, he mixes his own ability with the Killer's power.
Otz is almost as talented, coming from a similar gaming background. Otz really gets the core of the game.
I would put Otz ahead of Tru3 in the skills department, but that's just me.

It is absolutely a competitive game, it's why it's ranked only. And how is Ranked and Quick Match options over complicating it? It's too different modes pretty much all games have.
The game needs a Quick Match mode. I hate being in red ranks and getting nothing but sweaty survivors who hold M1 and end games in 5 mins. I want too have fun in this game, not sweat. Add a ranked reward and a Quick Match mode and a lot of people would return IMO.
No. It's not. Any veteran of the title with anything between their ears will not only laugh in your face, but tell you how horribly, grossly, and unbelievably wrong you are.
It's about as casual as a game as you can find - whether or not you take it seriously enough to get the nonsense idea that it's somehow a competitive game. A game with two separate sides competing and easily obtainable levels does NOT a competitive game make. The devs have gone on record and stated they make most balance changes with a casual mindset instead of a competitive one. Only competitive thing about it is a pretty number in the top right for your e-peen to grow a little bit.
It has a competitive flair to it, but no, it's not competitive one bit.

The only P2W aspect i see for me is being forced to buy the Stranger Things DLC for the perks with real money/auric cells instead of using shards to unlock them. Lord knows they wont be on the shrine for a while.
Imagine thinking the stranger things perks are good enough to be called "pay 2 win".

Why lie about something so easily discredited? The game has more players on average every day than it ever has before, and that’s just on Steam. We aren’t even talking consoles.
https://steamcharts.com/app/381210
If they released casual, I would never play a ranked match of Survivor again.
The issue is, splitting the playerbase would only be bad for the community. Which is why they haven't done it.
Also - what you linked...didn't discredit..anything. I mean, nice try? Sorry you embarrassed yourself...I guess?

I just quoted BHVR.
In my opinion : yes it is an advantage. But I wouldn't say "unfair" or "cheating". I'd say "challenging"
I'd say it's a bit more than challenging. It's obvious the game wasn't designed for that amount of information to be shared among survivor teams. Still though, crying SWF has turned into an excuse more than an epidemic.

I really like the idea of Thanatophobia but I feel like the numbers on it are just awful.
My suggestion to make it better is to buff the numbers from 4% per injured survivor to 5% or 6% and to make it so it applies a permanent 4-6% debuff for each dead survivor.
Let me know down below what you think about my suggestion.
So, OG dying light on steroids.

Like I said, continuing to attack for no good reason other than "I don't like that you disagreed with me". I don't get why you're being so aggressive when you could just as easily talk things out.
What you don't seem to understand is - I'm not attacking you. I'm merely stating and bringing light to the humor I get from you saying I attacked you when you literally attacked me first. You could have just not done that and we'd have a nice, civil conversation. Consult your nearest mirror, look deep into it, and blame that guy. I don't need to attack or insult you.

Ok. I guess I should've listened to the little voice in my head saying I shouldn't try to start a reasonable discussion with this guy because he's just going to attack me and not bring up any good points. Whatever.
You attacked me first with your facetious mocking reply to my original post. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the boiler room, Freddy.

I don't know, I do pretty well on it as killer. I hate it as survivor, though.
Doesn't mean it needs a rework, though.

Oh look this comment again.
Usually when comments like this happen they make broad generalizations about the player posting instead of looking at what they're trying to say or starting a counter argument.
You don't know "what it really means" until you stop stereotyping and insulting people.
Just saying.
I didn't insult them. Don't talk to me about what things mean when you don't know what insulting means.
😂🤣
As for the rest - if you actually play at a relatively high rank, that statement doesn't emanate from your fingertips. It's a pretty good assumption.

😂
-
Ahhh.
I thought it was once the obsession is dead, the actions of everyone else were cut in half essentially. Didn't it used to be that way? Or am I imagining things? o.O
-
Oh look, it's this thread again.
Usually when threads like this happen, and they start with "I play both sides", what it really means is they played killer in brown, yellow and MAYBE green ranks if they made it it even that far.
You don't "play both sides" until you're in red ranks with killer.
-
@NuclearBurrito said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/912201#Comment_912201
Because Dying Light deactivates when you kill the obsession.
Did it change? O.o I remember it differently lol. My bad. I usually play Wraith and Billy for the most part so I don't really use dying light xD
-
@NuclearBurrito said:

That sounds incredibly counter productive.
In what way? It seems like a solid strategy.
Run dying light, tunnel the obsession, murder them, slow down gens, injure survivors, slow them down even more with thana etc.
-
This must be the same data that told them it was okay to release the 3.4 patch with broken basement hooks. 😂
-
I'll be honest, all this is going to make me do is run dying light and immediately tunnel the obsession until they are dead.

I wouldn't mind if he had any other addons worth bringing. Blocks/Black box/Pill bottle are meme addons at best. Red paint brush just lost its main synergy. Pallets/Class photo make him much weaker than if he didn't run them. I guess double teleport cooldown are his only addons now?
This. Similar to how people play Trapper as Man with Machete, and Ghostface as Man with Knife...Freddy is basically now just Burned Man with Knife Fingers.

I usually see people playing Ghosface the tru3ta1ent way. I'm not a fan of tru3, but his Ghostface build and style is legit as hell.

When are we going to see Gen speeds, and tool box speeds looked at?
Base Repairtime should be increased period.
Toolbox add-ons that increase base speed need to be tweaked, tuned down.
Why is it bad and unhealthy for the Killer to slow the game down, but perfectly fine for survivors to rush through the game like a meth addled track star?
Short answer - because the devs are survivor mains. And those that are killer mains are actually mediocre at best at being killer.

I don't know about that, the League community is pretty much a separate breed of humanity without empathy or reason.
I've experienced less toxicity in the total 50 hours I have in League in the last...however long that game has been out, than I did in one hour of DBD this morning.

repair speeds getting nerfed would lead to a lot more survivors using toolboxes thus making the nerf void.
As I said, toolbox repair speeds also need a nerf. At least then, you're forcing them to use their toolboxes.
-
@AvisDeene said:
Rather than nerf survivors, I’d just wish they would work more on server tech, improve hitboxes, improve the maps so survivors couldn’t abuse them , and buff weaker killers.
Eh, you can't honestly deny that survivors gen repair speed, and item repair buffs needs to be heavily nerfed.

It's beyond faith at this point. The DBD community is more far gone than the League of Legends community.

Or, decrease repair speed all together?

You're talking to the wrong community. The DBD community, in terms of human decency, is a lost cause.

Then why could they be doubled up pre patch? Janick said you're supposed to flick with the mouse and as of right now it isn't working as such. There's no evidence they're tied to the same engine control.
Uh...Okay. You actually don't know what you're talking about. I get it now.
I'll say it as simple as possible:
The mouse movement (whether on survivor or killer) and left/right on the keyboard (whatever you have them bound to because they aren't bound by default), are bound to the SAME action at an engine level. They do the SAME thing in game. In some cases, the keyboard, being digital, offers something the mouse doesn't - the ability to perform fill-tilt, balls to the wall sharp turns (ala - Hillbilly steering). In some cases, the mouse, which is more or less analog, is better because it provides better control over precise movements, especially for Billy's flick. Whatever you're using to perform this action, they are the same action, and the game recognizes them as doing the same thing. Basically, you can't change one without changing the other.
The reason the mouse worked so well is because it offered greater control over the movement, because of it's analog nature, where as the keyboard, when used, has one speed and only one speed. There's no modifier. It's why most people who are good at Billy use the keyboard to steer his sprint, and the mouse to perform is chainsaw flick. Oni operated the same way. Just so happens, you can't 180 around corners with the mouse anymore on Oni. Big deal.
Next time, try to know what you're talking about before making pseudo intellectual statements.

Last Year came out, and DBD is slowly dying because of competition.

No worries. I was actually a huge advocate for nurse not getting nerfed. The only thing on her that needed changing was the additional blink addons.

@Mikeadatrix said:

They said the keyboard flicking was not intended, friend. If flicking in its entirety wasn't allowed, @Janick wouldn't have said what he said. I'm not trying to start anything but if you're going to die on a hill, make sure you're dying on one that is actually factual. The mouse turning is supposed to exist. As of now, it is bugged until otherwise confirmed.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/911930#Comment_911930
Not the time nor place, bud.
The keyboard and mouse flicks are tied to the same engine control. They both perform the same action. They are one and the same.
-
You know what's silly? They nerf the one Oni that was never really intended to be there in the first place and people are upset...but nobody is talking about the true crime here. The Nightmare nerfs.
Imagine thinking the Nightmare was overpowered in any way.

But if nurse is just as good and unfun to play against then what was the point of that nerf? So she's more " skilled " ? I don't think she takes more skill to play to be honest. She's still the same, just unbelievably frustrating to play as.
I never said she needed the nerf.

Perhaps before flapping your ignorant jaws, you should actually look at my post history. Nobody is more critical of their BS than I am. That doesn't change the fact that they said this was unintended, and they did away with it. Now, go away and let the adults talk. :)

My thing is, if they already "knew" there was an issue with his flick, then why release him with it? It's like they were trying to get as many people as they could to get him by watching ptb streams, then killed him. And, yes, I know about the patch notes. But, not everyone reads those notes. Instead, they see a video on YouTube of some new killer that looks really fun and cool, go and buy him, then get the shaft. That's why a lot of people are pissed right now. Not everyone is like me and you, here on the forums getting all the info and dirt all the time.
Why did they release the original patch with broken basement hooks? Who knows why BHVR does what they do.

Indeed. Instadowns are an intended game mechanic. Pallet-looping is an exploit.
That's like saying camping is an exploit. Which it isn't.
Pallet loops are designed to be that way now. Survivors having smaller hitboxes and being able to hug the edges of objects more is by design. What is NOT supposed to be a thing is safe loops.

ye that for sure looks like "was never intended to have a flick". pls teach me how to read
You know, keyboard turning and mouse turning are on the same control, right? Q and E (or A and D) turning is literally just digital button press versions of what you're doing with the mouse. They are mapped in-engine to the same exact action. So yes, it means it wasn't intended. Don't be ignorant.

You're using a logical fallacy called the appeal to authority. "Those actually good with him are doing fine" is the same thing they said about Nurse. Please be careful with your arguments.
Both are true. The only people who suffered when Nurse was changed were people who relied on that which was theoretically broken, or her addons.
OG Nurse players (like Marth, tru3, Ardetha) adapted just fine. They only ever needed 2 blinks, and never used additional blink addons.

love how people now actually try and defend them breaking the killer thinking this line means he wasnt supposed to have a flick
I don't see what you're argument is here. It's turn radius was out of whack. I personally don't think Oni should have been able to do a near 180 degree flick or spin at any time during it's dash; and I've been playing him religiously since he came out. Sure, I have to readjust, but whining about it actually taking strategy now isn't going to do anyone any good.

Yeah I only use mouse and this is completely untrue. I can barely turn anywhere. Never used a keyboard to turn a single time with him.
You also said you weren't ever intending the flick to be a thing which isn't true because you nerfed the flick from PTB to Live, and if wasn't intended you would have just removed it entirely from PTB to Live.
There is no reason to play him over Billy now. Kinda completely ruined him.
Keep in mind - they said it wasn't intended in the live patch notes...and before saying "they would have done this" etc...remember, this is the company that released a live build with the game breaking basement hook bug. I would never put any amount of faith into what they "would" or "could" do before going live with a patch/DLC.

I don't know - I know people who have fun both mori-ing people as well as getting mori'd. It's just a game, stop taking it so seriously and maybe you'll be able to lighten up instead of attempting to punt the fun out of the field.

Nothing to do with balance. Mori is just unfun and so are keys.
They could make it work that you can kill somebody you hooked after hatch spawned
Unfun? That must be why people use them.
Again, unfun is overbalance, and that's what you're trying to do. They don't happen every game, not even close. It's fine how it is.
