I don't see how playing in a custom gamemode will help, though, since it doesn't count as progress to any of the rituals or leveling I assume. How am I going to get perks and perkslots without enduring constant curbstomps from overleveled survivors?
Im pretty sure you get half blood points for the custom matches but don't quote me on that, it seems like I heard someone mention that recently

"just bait it out 4head"
Stop spreading saying this and accept the fact that a Dead Hard for distance is uncounterable
Nobody said bait it out 4head , range and mobility killers have the ability to counter dead hard how about stop playing ######### killers and expecting people to be bots and go down for you

I don't have an issue with it, but then again I don't play bottom tier killers so maybe that's the issue

B-Tier? Never! She is a pure M1-Killer with 0 Chase-Power. She cant become B-Tier if she cant end chases faster.
The reason I put her at B tier is her ability to traverse the map even though she's a m1 killer she can get to places faster than your average m1 killer and she has the ability to confuse or sneak up on survivors as well, so while her chase ability isn't the best the rest of what her kit offers makes her at least a B tier, now if you took the teleport away she's immediately one of the weakest killers in the entire game
-
In my opinion she's pretty good I'd say she's a B tier killer, I don't like the way her condemning works though it just doesn't seem very threatening and survivors should at some point be forced to interact with a tape instead of rushing gens and making it a race between how much can you stack your condemnation before the gens are done? If they aren't getting the tape its up to how much widespread pressure you can gain and stack condemned at the same time through teleports , I'm not saying Onryo should get free kills by condemned but why even add something like that if it's not a threat and you could go the whole match ignoring if you wanted
-
They're essentially running perkless because you can't guarantee that the killer doesn't snuff it, not only that but only a really bad killer will commit to an area where there are no gens left, the best move would be to focus gen pressure in that situation and force the survivors to waste time finding and blessing another totem, meanwhile you've probably already caught a different survivor who was actually trying to do gens instead of frolicking around the map looking for a totem to have perks for the game since they have nothing else.

Semantics. It does work as they intend it to. It's just a bad system. We agree on that. I've lost exactly one game on killer since day 3 of the matchmaking tests. Still getting babies every other game. If you're really good at killer, you get rounded down *and then* the range widens. It's terrible
I agree with that I just hate how as soon as someone does bad they parrot the MMR when it's clearly not even working properly people just refuse to accept a loss without an excuse

It's definitely real and the devs themselves have explained how they've engineered it to be terrible. It's easy to see how you can face a good team one game and potatoes the next. There's almost no difference between a player with 200 hrs and a player with 4000 hrs at peak population times when the range can expand to 350 MMR. If a fresh account starts at 1100 and the soft cap is 1700, many bad matches are possible. Being average would produce exactly the outcomes you're describing.
Then in your own words it doesn't work at all, Im not trying to say I'm the best killer because I'm definitely not but I know I'm one of the top nurse players in this game it's been literally over a year since I've gotten less than a 3k with her there's absolutely zero reasons I should get potatoes with her but as of lately I'm bored with her and im playing as oni, Dr, Onryo or blight which I do not have the same success as I do with nurse but I still do well I feel like and there is zero reason why I should get potatoes sometimes other than them just throwing people in there to fill a lobby
-
Laugh all you want but I've been here from day one and this all started years ago working out an "MMR" system, it produced rainbow ranked lobbies and people were furious they were getting paired with more skilled players so then they tested it again at a later point hiding ranks and it still didn't settle well because people saw it for what it was, so now all of a sudden this time "ranks don't matter because MMR" and now for a short time people were okay with rainbow lobbies and now that it's being brought up again they're going as far as to hide the grade that "doesn't matter", all I know is I can stomp a swf with thousands of hours only to turn around and get complete noobs the next game who have like 40 hours total in game it's hilarious these people believe in MMR and at the same time they don't believe BHVR about anything else they release statistically
-
@eloise said:
I would like to see everyone's MMR, if for example I have a 70 MMR that I can see that I played well with MMR 65 70 75 and no more.I prefer to wait in the lobby for the game to find me a good MMR and not to put myself with High MMR. If you play with friends the MMR puts it with the one who is the most high
They won't show it because it would prove it's all a hoax and the outrage would pour in from day one when survivors and killers start dodging MMR ratings or questioning why they're in the lobby with whoever they were paired with, if MMR were real BHVR would've already went out of their way to prove it but unfortunately it's just another thing people parrot when they lose
-
This is really on both sides and its honestly just like charlie brown listening to adults anymore I just don't even care what they have to say and sometimes I'll get bored and just throw gas on the fire and watch them rage even harder lol there's always an excuse with these people because they see big streamers make excuses anytime they're outplayed, I saw one the other day he's a huge name and in his gameplay he said that anytime he gets mindgamed at a tall wall they have to be wall hacking or subtle hacking....give me a ######### break lmao the ego of some people
-
There are other ways around that I chat with people on other platforms all the time
-
The problem is that they've already milked 6 years out of the game and they didn't expect it to last this long I remember when Mathieu Cote said on the first anniversary they wanted to go at least another five years and we're already at that point, they've made their cut and now if they want to they could try and keep it going but they will more than likely move on to the next project soon and the writing is on the wall with alot of the original development team slowly leaving for other opportunities. I think this game will still be accessible but eventually there will be a last update and they will probably leave the servers on until the game officially starts to be dead and then shut them off at that point, how long will it be until this happens? Anyone's guess is as good as mine they could ride it out a few more years if we're lucky

I think that's where we're in disagreement - the examples you've used of eating a lot of sugar while diabetic, dairy while lactose intolerant, smoking while on oxygen etc. Those are pretty much 99% of the time guaranteed to end in catastrophe. The risk level for someone epileptic playing a game like this seems to be orders of magnitude lower, although absolutely a non-zero risk for sure. The point the OP seemed to be making was that they could play the game fine (and have in the past) without this one element being present
I don't think the slippery slope argument really applies here, but just for the sake of argument, let's say it does. BHVR could just add custom options for the player - this way, no one loses out on anything. If someone wants to flashlight macro, they can, and the epileptic player can just put on a setting so that the flashlight doesn't flash visually on their screen. If someone is colorblind, they can put on the colorblind settings (obviously, already done). If someone can't rotate the thumbstick or doesn't want to ######### up their controller, they can use the toggle button wiggle option (also already done). There are simple accessibility options that BHVR could make which would infringe upon no one and would benefit everyone that has disabilities. So I don't think there would be any cause for concern that small changes like this would be the start of a slippery slope wherein the game would end up only in black and white, only with toned down sound or controls etc.
I've seen people also saying spirit and onryo's passive phasing affects epilepsy, if they were to ever remove those even though it's not huge it would still be a nerf to those killers, like I said before though I could care less about macros sure it's fun to troll but it doesn't have any value outside of that and there are plenty of other ways
-
We should just give every killer the option to pick up a chainsaw or other weapon to camp with once a survivor is basement hooked

I get where you're coming from but the gist I was getting from that post was:
- Person regularly plays DBD, and they're normally fine so long as flashlight macros aren't present. Does make sense that Doctor would be a problem but that makes it an issue with 1/27th of the game, rather than an issue with 100% of the game, so it seems like that's very feasible to work around and much more within the realm of their control. Poster was not asking for Doctor to be deleted or changed, probably because that they can work around that to a better degree
- So to reiterate, the problem is not that DBD is giving the poster seizures, it's that macro flashlight clicking within the game is giving them seizures
- As Seanzu pointed out, there are generic video game epilepsy warnings, the same that are present for nearly every game. Mostly just CYA legal stuff, similar to how a restaurant menu says "eating uncooked meat could make you sick." Doesn't make you an idiot if you get food poisoning after eating their food - you knew there was a small risk of that happening, and you ate there anyway. We take small risks every day in our lives because otherwise, we'd be living in bunkers never going outside. The poster appears to have a very low risk of having seizures while playing the game, if flashlight macros were not present
You, yourself, are also taking a risk by playing this game. As the warning states, people with no history of epilepsy could have a seizure from playing the game. The risk is very very low though, and you've accepted that, so you play the game anyways
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2948071#Comment_2948071
Kid, I hope that whenever you make a huge mistake in your life, you're still shown a basic degree of empathy, the kind you seem to be completely lacking in your posts
Again - the OP did not say DBD was giving them seizures, they said flashlight macros within the game were giving them seizures. Is your argument that flashlight macros are such a core component of the game that it's worth keeping them, even if that means preventing some players from playing the game and/or giving some players seizures?
I also said that I could care less if they removed them, and you know nothing about me so I could really care less what you think I'm not a kid either I'm in my 40s I've been through plenty of ups and downs in my time, but playing a game like this one when you have epilepsy is like smoking while you're on oxygen, my whole point is there are plenty of other triggers in this game for someone like that and even if you removed it what's next? What else do we have to accommodate for and visually change because this can of worms get opened? If they took macros out tomorrow I wouldn't care a bit
-
I hate it when people make excuses, farms survivors in my face and says "gasp but you tunneled!!" Yea so what they were an ez two tap right before that why wouldn't I do it so I can get on to a lobby I dont fall asleep playing against.

Let me guess, survivor main who barely plays killer?
I dont think the game is very unbalanced and I have thousands of hours in the killer role alone, are there killers who could use some TLC? Sure I wouldn't disagree with that but out of all the killers I would argue that half of them are viable and the other half are geared more towards newcomers who need a simple power to get the hang of and be able to understand, I have Onryo as B tier in my book she's not super strong but she's not really weak either I'd say just like some of the other killers I have in the B tier it depends on the map whether she's gonna do well against a good survivor group

Maybe plaything undying would be better? Then there's a 100% chance you get the totem spawn instead of 40% with Dhope undying
But which killer to run it on.....
But doing it multiple games it will eventually happen, it already has in fact lol I got all my stacks and just morid all 4 survivors last game it was glorious
-
If the hook is nearby I'll just go for it but if it's a little ways off I'll just drop the survivor and start slugging anyone around, there have been plenty of times I've ended up with multiple hooks because survivors want to throw themselves at me as soon as I pick up, I'm always automatically assuming you're running a breakout sabo build and playing off of that

So what you're saying is run devour hope and that map offering until it's Killswitched? Sounds like a fun idea

Macro is unintended mechanic what is wrong with removing it?
There is zero reason to keep it in the game.
I don't care if you remove it my point is those people are gonna have other triggers in this game not only a flashlight, they should not be playing if it is harmful to them

I use it but it's set so fast on the macro that there isn't any light it's just a click sound and affects them in no way

There are warning, people just ignore them despite having epilepsy, I would argue that there needs to be a huge one as you open dbd though. Also notice how the black one (Playstation store) has Starbreeze EULA attached to it, that means that warning is at least 4 years old.
If there's a warning then I don't feel sorry for these people and I don't care who says I'm an ass for it, if you're diabetic you shouldnt eat alot of sugary stuff, if you're lactose you shouldn't have dairy products...etc.. people can hate me all they want for it but this person deserves to have seizures if they ignore the warning that's given to them there are plenty of things to cause seizures in this game and even if they fixed the macro you still would have this problem with other parts of the game, the people most adamant about getting it fixed are more than likely cry babies who get bullied with them in match and they just use this as an excuse to shame the devs because there's always an excuse with these people for them to get their way.

@musstang62 said:
The amount of people on that reddit post calling the poster an idiot for trying to play a game... I really do ######### hate this community sometimes
Not a single good reason for the flashlight macros to be a thing. If there are colorblind accessibility options, then this should be removed to provide more accessibility
Preventing someone from having a seizure is more important than preventing some 4-man blendette squad from boo-hooing that they can't bully the killer as well anymore
Theres like a million different things in this game that could be harmful to someone with epilepsy, not trying to sound like an ass but BHVR should put a warning on their game and then those people probably shouldn't play it because there are alot of triggers like they have to DC everytime it's a Doctor as killer, they can't ever play Doctor, any time someone uses a firecracker or flashbang or blast mine they are at risk and certain maps are a risk, truth is you probably shouldn't play the game if you're epileptic and if you do then you should understand what's possible
-
It's fun to troll and I'm never gonna stop doing it, I'll never trash talk you or be rude in the endgame chat but I'm having as much fun as I feel like having in the trial, it's a game and people should get over themselves if they get so upset over nothing.
-
I'll buy and play just about any new horror game that comes out but the thing that DBD has to it's advantage is the amount of time it's been out because all these licensed chapters and iconic characters are here in one place as to where those other games will more than likely not have that sort of mix up when it comes to different killers and even if they tried it would take years for them just to catch up to the same level as DBD as far as different characters with different abilities
-
There's always an excuse it's very rare to find some players mature enough to admit they made mistakes and tell you that you played well
-
It's always the people who can't spell talking the most trash lol

I haven't played the game since the Ringu PTB.
On Youtube I came across a video talking about cheating bots; they are not controlled by a player, very sensitive to hearing and may be able to see through walls.
How often do you play against these bots?
And did the gameplay experience remain as it was before Ringu update?
Depending on what they have turned on they can also go through walls and instant down survivors with an m1 and teleport to the hook and right to another survivor, had one game where it was a pig and everyones head exploded right at the beginning of the trial... It's not like an every game type thing but I'd say in every 10-12 games you play you'll get at least one hacker currently
-
I always have fun against nurse or playing as her, as survivor I'm just gaining distance and breaking LOS with unpredictable running patterns when Im in pubs but in a kyf I do with other nurse mains where we trade off playing killer I've been running head on because nurse can't search a locker at the end of blink and the fatigue gives enough time for activation lol kind of a troll move I do to see if I can keep the chase going and get away with it against a good player which sometimes I get away but sometimes I'm eating grass lol
-
I know naming and shaming is against the rules but BHVR shouldn't care about naming and shaming on hackers, I mean why care about people that are trying to destroy your game and breaking the rules?

I swear this place is cringe these days all these crybabies on a horror game forum who can't accept when they lose or get outplayed, expecting the devs to hold their hand and make it a easy win so they can feel good about themselves

If that's how OP wants to play then fine there's nothing wrong with it but if you fail you shouldn't be talking trash and if the survivors all escape on you and say "GGez" then you deserve it after trying to flat out ruin the game over a map offering when you as a killer have the exact same ability to play a map offering or a sacrificial ward and a OP build , the idea that people should weaken a build or not play a map to feel better about what the other side thinks is just crazy and you should run a OP build if you want to and if you don't feel like it then don't, I hate how I 4k survivors or I escape a killer and the first thing in the chat is some excuse about why I won even if it makes zero sense it's like their brain just flies out the window after a loss when in reality it was just a bad play and you could possibly beat me the next time we run into each other because that's how DBD works. It's like a fist fight, just because you come out on top once doesn't mean the same guy won't catch you off guard and work your head in for you the next time.

You don't need to counter legion he's a m1 killer with a power that isn't threatening unless he hits everyone and even then chances are he's not gonna make the insta down play unless the survivors are really out of place or not skilled, just loop legion until he leaves you because gens are popping and then if you're solo just pray your team focuses gens instead of healing

And IMO, nobody should compare the Mobile Version with the "actual" DBD. Especially not if something is done for the Asian market, often enough you can treat those games as different games, even if they are both called Dead by Daylight.
It just pisses me off that everything we ask for in this game is pretty much already in mobile or it's in progress meanwhile people who actually pay for the game get the shaft here, it's like "Oh you want these changes? Well we changed everything else that didn't need it and then nerfed clown" it's just that kind of stuff that makes me throw my hands up and not care anymore
-
When I start comparing mobile to the original version it makes me want to quit this game altogether, we pay alot of money into this game and the mobile version is free and it's better than the original and offers more bloodhunt events, and now apparently more Mori options , they should honestly rework the Mori offering to have a different Mori for each one you play so like example the cypress Mori would be different than a ebony Mori animation wise

What can I do to address this issue in the future? I recently changed providers so my internet has been pretty good.
I would get a wired connection to your router, no matter how you slice it a wired connection will always be better than wifi when playing games that rely on consistent connection to a server, that alone should solve the problem but you should also run internet tests and make sure you're getting what speed you pay for because companies are notorious for throttling your speeds, if you have downloads going in the background or updates then stop them when playing the game and always make sure you have sufficient space on your system because it runs better when there's less on there so if you have unused games you don't play anymore delete them and reinstall later when you want to play again, as a last resort on consoles you can look up internet settings and manually adjust connection settings that other users claim gives them faster speeds
-
@ThanksForDaily said:
It's your internet.
That's what I say , if you're on a wifi connection then it's definitely the problem, console hacking is impossible specifically with this game because it involves modding files that Sony or Microsoft can immediately detect don't belong when you go to boot the game up and they will hardware ban your console from logging in to the game, this isn't the old COD days where you could mod things and then reuse it on a flash drive it doesn't work like that anymore because they got smarter about that and you have to wipe the drive to get on a PC because it has to reformat, I'd say this guy had a situation where he was on wifi and the ping was already not so hot that's really all it takes to have some crazy looking problems in this game

This would be true if survivor perks and killer perks were equivalent to each other, but they are not with one very noticeable exception. When looking at the most powerful killer perks, almost all of them require some sort of activation clause, in most cases a hook. The four that don't are Ruin, Undying, Devour Hope, and Corrupt Intervention. Three of them can be disabled before they do anything if the killer is unlucky and the fourth only effects the early game. NOED is a blatant exception to this rule as it lets a killer down someone for free but even it can be disabled. The most meta killer build robs the survivor of their agency less than the most meta survivor build.
The main reason why I still think the survivor side is to blame for the games balance problems (not the actual players, the tools they have at their disposal), is that killers have to play the game like everyone has those perks. Every survivor is running DH until they use another exhaustion perk, every survivor has DS so you have to wait it out unless you want to get hit.
Then there also the problem that the survivor's base kit is better than the killer base kit. When this imbalance comes into play, it is maddening. A good example of this is body blocking. Its a mechanic that goes directly against the "unstoppable force" fantasy of the killer. Is it broken? No. Is it balanced? Yeah. Is it incredibly frustrating when it happens? Also yes
The problem isn't that a particular survivor was mean and started a chain reaction, its more so that the survivor side has tools that make playing killer too stressful.
The reason why I think this distinction matters is because BHVR tends to focus on killers rather than survivors when it comes to changes. Legion got reworked instead Deep Wound, Cenobite got his addons nerfed rather than improving the communication of solo Q.
I do agree with you, that people who play survivors are not to blame and that the source of toxicity is fundamental core problems that need to be addressed but most of those core issues are about the survivor side.
Solo Q is pain, SWF are too strong, all of the second chance perks, all of the exhaustion perks, and etc. While there are killers that definetly need a look at (cough Spirit cough ), most of what needs to be fixed is on the survivor side of things.
And some of those things that need to happen is things like making Kindred basekit or even BT basekit. Honestly, I think a possible approach to fixing alot of DBD problems is raise the floor of what both sides have.
As for the last part about raising both sides floor I agree with that 100 percent, everytime something comes out for either side the other cries until BHVR caves in and gives them what they want when in reality it's starting to make this game a snooze fest and it's too rinse and repeat, I've always said I think killers should have 3 unique abilities instead of one power just so you're interacting in different ways and not spamming the same thing over and over, also on top of that I would give survivors each a unique trait that is related to their character that would make them more than a skin alone

It ruins the whole theme of the perk though. The whole concept of fire up is that you get stronger as the game goes on.
You could still leave it as fire up and be that the entity is coursing through your veins at the beginning of the trial getting you fired up to start the killing, my point being even if it weren't worded the way I said it you could still come up with something that fits and make the perk better than it is now
