Its more code than you think. Being able to access a killer in lobby but not in a match would conflict with alot of code and construction of the game. Your explanation can deffinatly be done but it would be much more time consuming and difficult than just completley killswitching which they did

It's really not, especially since you can't switch killers in a lobby. Disabling the "ready" button when a kill-switched killer is currently selected should be straightforward.

And that's not a bad thing. Alas, when I get hit by a well placed DH I don't die internally like before, I just accept that this was well played, maybr even salute that player internally, and play on. I guess pure survivor mains can't fathom this feeling of libations, this giant slap of stone that got taken from our broad, yet mangled killer backs.

Agreed, new DH actually feels fun on the killer side and I can respect a good play with it. My attitude when getting outplayed by new DH:

Oh, that still exists. That very much still exists.

It’s been easier to not actually play this game. I signed up on the forums to see if others felt annoyed and what others had to say.

glad I’m in the majority. The Ususl Suspects around these parts aren’t winning with their self-christened victim status.

it’s up to the devs now!

Expect a lot of confirmation bias, then. People don't generally sign up for the forums to declare how much fun they're having, they sign up to complain. The people who are enjoying this patch or don't notice a significant difference don't feel driven to go tell people, so... yes, of all of the people on the forums complaining about the patch, the majority are complaining about the patch.

This patch ruined the game for survivors, I'm leaving until they fix this. Brought a competent 4 man team that use to win all the time... to The Game with 3x Tool Boxes and Brand New Parts and still got steam rolled by a Spirit. The why...

    1. Iron Will is effectively useless, any killer with a headset can trace sounds (footsteps, breathing, loud moaning now) EASILY, spirits just teleport and trace without a beat now.
    2. The additional 10 seconds per gen, which effectively passively impacts variety of other perks to 13+ seconds due such as Thanatophobia
    3. Jolt is absolutely crushing regression now ontop of it
    4. No dead hard to make plays anymore

If you're argument is that there's a "passive 5 second BT", that barely offsets face camping or tunneling. Which happened before anyways, what is 5 seconds when you have another 1-2+ minutes of gen time to do.

Statistically, before the patch I was escaping with at least 1+ survivor at a pretty standard pace maybe out of 10 games, 5-5 escape to death ratio. Post patch, with a discord team, 3-14, and one of those wins was maybe a killer just messing around.

Not only that, the number of "mercy" escapes from killers I have seen skyrocketed post-patch - the fact that killers are "mercy escaping" survivors is a testament to the imbalance.

It's really simple to balance this game, take the data you have on number of survivor escapes and deaths per game and balance it so there's a 2-2 escape to death ratio. Take this data by killer and adjust perks accordingly to balance.

Also, I play as killer on the side, and I went 5-0 (Oni w/ AOT skin, Meyers, Trickster), 4 kill, 4 kill, 4 kill, 3 kill, 4 kill. It's a breeze in the park... especially as a PC gamer.

If you also noticed the queue time for killers have gone up, its also evidence that people don't want to play survivor... which speaks to the lack of balance and fun.

I'm retiring from DBD until they fix this.

But you still get the Perk, at Tier 1.

The only difference is now you don't have to go "find" it in a Bloodweb. You just have it and when it finally did show up in a Bloodweb, it'd be the Tier 1 version.

    That's what hasn't changed.

    What? No, it has changed.

Now, when you go find it in a bloodweb, you'll find tier 2, because your character already has tier 1.

I'm not advocating for people to DC when the game gets hard. It's supposed to be difficult. But at this point it's just mentally frustrating for people because it's beyond their control. Especially at lower levels and on console. With all the bugs, hackers, not taking solo Q seriously, and outright oppressive gameplay, people should have the right to take care of themselves and still play a game that they've loved and put a lot of money into without penalty. I said I'd post it for and wide. I'm just starting here. There's other forums and social media. My word is my bond. I might even try to see if Canadian news media will pick it up.

Then they can play KYF or find friends to SWF with. BHVR absolutely does not have lo permit them to DC from match after match and ruin the game for other players under the guise of taking care of their mental health.

  • Do you really have to spam this on every thread? (Edit: Replied-to comment was removed.)

If playing DBD hurts people's mental health then they should play something else. Repeatedly DCing every time they have an unpleasant match is not the solution, finding a different game is.

Killer camping in 3 gen situation has got much stronger thought so I lose most my games when there is 1 gen left it does not help when teammates waste time running around map too. So only change which should be made is to make last gen back to 80s. Maybe first 2 gens should be then make to 100s.

Don't let the killer 3-gen. Try running Deja Vu to break up 3-gens. The 5% repair speed on top is nice, too.

Perks you buy in the shrine always show up at Tier 1 for the first time in Blood Webs. This isn't any different.

Not since 6.1.0. When you buy a perk in the shrine it is immediately given to all characters at tier 1. Tiers 2 and 3 show up in bloodwebs after that. If you buy it twice in the shrine it is given to everyone at T2, and if you buy it a third time it is given to everyone at T3.

  • I've been having fun playing both roles since the patch. The outcry on the forums doesn't surprise me too much; people are more likely to share negative feedback than positive. For every person who comes here to whine, there's many other players who are having fun but don't feel the need to come to the forums and declare it to everyone.

  • @Laluzi said:

They were absolutely horrible at first, but then I took advantage of the prestiges shown in the lobby to dodge every congregation of P0 default survivors. I'll take one if the rest of the lobby looks experienced, but two or more and I'm out. Since then, it's gotten tolerable again, but gens are definitely slower than they used to be.

I haven't actually faced that much tunneling (camping, yes, but camping's easier to deal with), but Thana and Overcharge-plus-CoB are everywhere. Even been seeing some DL + Gift of Pain builds. Lots of Legions, too. Can't say I appreciate that on top of the already slow generators.

Joke's on you, my Yui is P9 and I can't loop well at all.

But I played maybe 10 survivor matches today and I think I escaped exactly 5, so... no complaints here.

  • For the next QoL patch I really want to see them overhaul the reporting system. It's absurd that reporting cheaters is so difficult. Even on PC it's no cakewalk -- you need to report them in-game, have video evidence, and submit that evidence in a support ticket. I've done it before and every time it's resulted in a ban, but it's a good 5 minutes of work.

The first day of the patch was pretty bad, where I didn't get out once. It is still so-so in regards at the moment with my escapes.

Currently, there is a huge gap with if I survive or not that falls onto my teammates and their contribution in the match for me to get out. Before, we could gen rush even with a person still ****ing around in the back, but now we can't.

The only issue I am really having so far has been against Legion and Plaque. I had pretty rough game last night against a Legion with all the shtty perks on. I think it was also the closest game after like 20+ minutes. It was only me and one person left in the match and we managed to get the final gen done by passing off aggro to one another to only die at the gate. The group did well overall. Got gens done, loop the killer, take hits, take aggro and we all still died at the end with 5 gens done. The killer probably hated my guts though, since they kept slapping me on hook while they left the other person on the ground. I guess all those pallets to the face while they chased me ticked them off enough. I mean what should I do, just die when you chase me?

I really don't know what else we could have done tbh.

I really have yet to win against a legion -____-.

Honestly, that's a good thing. In a 4v1, the four should have to work together efficiently to win against the one. If you could win with one player not contributing all match, that's a strong hint that balance wasn't right.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/337100/supaalf-streamer-wins-300-times-in-a-row-with-nurse

Yeah. Survivors do need to git gud.

And some of them have, it's already been mentioned but there's a group that has a 500+ 4-man escape streak, that is currently ongoing. They only stopped because they got bored of doing gens all the time, and quit the game.

Alf is one of the best if not the single best Nurse player in the entire community, going against randoms? That's impressive for sure, but not incredibly surprising. Nurse has probably the highest skill ceilings, with respect to her effectiveness.

You people get one killer-sided patch after dozens of survivor sided ones, and instantly start shitting their pants. Like, holy #########, calm down. Go play Nurse.

I'm serious, go take a couple weeks and actually learn how to play Nurse. Get consistent with her, your mmr will go up, you'll start winning a bunch, you'll think you're hot #########, and then....then you'll start playing against players who will utterly destroy you and make you look pathetic.

It'll change the way you think about Nurse forever.

The real problems are with solo queue, and we all know it. We just need to make enough noise about it that the devs adjust their plans and get to it sooner rather than later. Sooner as in, the very next balance patch.

    This, so much.

Nurse is my main and I have probably at least 600-700 of my total 1k hours playing her. I'm not at Alf's level, but I'm not a baby, either. I can tell probably within the first 2 minutes of a match how it's going to go.

A team of solos is a guaranteed 3-4k. The average chase from healthy to downed is somewhere between 5 and 20 seconds.

A good group that knows how to be unpredictable after breaking LoS is very, very hard to win against -- nurse is probably the only killer who even has a chance against such a group, and it's still not a given.

Nurse vs solos doesn't demonstrate that nurse is OP, it just exacerbates the problems solos already have because so few actually know how to run nurse well. The conclusion shouldn't be "rework nurse" it should be a combination of two things:

    1. BHVR needs to buff the heck out of solo queue, something I would actually love to see; stomping solo teams is not very satisfying right now because it's not much of a challenge.
    2. Survivors need to learn how to run a nurse. People who complain about how strong nurse is should go play her for 1-2 weeks. Learn her kit. If you are struggling to catch a particular survivor, pay attention to what they are doing. I promise you there is counterplay to good nurses; you won't run them forever, but if you are going down in 10 seconds consistently then it honestly is a skill issue.

Just to be clear, all of the above is from the perspective of not using range addons. I haven't used them on her and I never will; she doesn't need them. Nerf them into the ground for all I care.

People are still playing yes. Where is the stats showing the enjoyment though?

If they're playing, there's two possible explanations:

    1. They enjoy the game.
    2. They are addicted to the game.

The first group is the stat you're talking about. The second group will play whether or not it's fun.

Noed's totem does get revealed now at the end. Survivors can see the aura from like 24 meters or something.

Right, it starts as 4m then scales up to 24m over 30sec. That's a pretty big radius. A quick stroll around the map and you'll find it.

  • NOED did get nerfed in 6.1.0 though. Maybe you disagree that it's significant, but the totem aura being revealed to nearby survivors seems significant to me.

i could definitely see that, most of the better players have longer times so that could work but i think they are gonna stick to this system

A static system is conceptually "fair" to a lot of players as well, and is also much easier to implement in a system with more than two players. With five the math gets pretty complicated pretty fast. For survivors, it's not only "did I escape" and "what's my rating and RD compared to the killer" but you also have to consider teammates -- if you were the top-ranked player and lost then there's the argument that everyone else pulled you down, so maybe you shouldn't lose as much rating. If you were the killer and 2k'd then we have to consider the rating of those who escaped vs those who didn't and what that means.

Basically it's a hell of a lot more complicated to work out, but it's way better if you can do it. (I doubt BHVR employs statisticians who can spend all day figuring it out, sadly.)

  • @Rudjohns said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3088859#Comment_3088859

I completely disagree when you say tunneling is not the optimal way to gain BP. Tunneling gives the same amount of BP as if you were hooking every survivor at a time. There is absolutely zero downside to killers in the game for tunneling at the current state. No survivor/killer perks can solve that.

If they're tunneling off hook, they're not getting very much in the chase category, probably not in deviousness either (depending on the specific killer).

If they're not doing that and they're running into the same survivor over and over while looking for a chase, it's not tunneling.

  • @Rudjohns said:

The only way to fix tunneling is to punish the killer on the exp and bp points. For example, if the killer downs the same survivor in a short period of time, they lose all the chase and hook points they got previously and gain no points for this second down and hook. In the end, they will earn less BP, less EXP and most likely de-pip too. The problem is figuring out the time to not make it unfair for the killer player.

With that being said, tunneling and camping will not be stopped by this, but it will discourage for sure.

I doubt killers who are doing this really care that much about experience or BP. If they're tunneling off hook then they're not getting very many chase points. Tunneling is the optimal way to 4K, but it's not the optimal way to gain BP, so if you're tunneling this aggressively then BP isn't even on your radar.

This would also unnecessarily punish killers for taking advantage of bad survivor plays, e.g. hook bombing/farming.

It's like DRM on copyrighted content -- it doesn't punish the pirates, it only punishes the legit consumers.

lets be real for any of us who played for years can see... people dont change because games are easier and more fair. they take andvantage and also if mmr is screwed then no matter what the update is horrible for the game. it doesnt matter the rhyme or reason if my matchmaking is all over the place then every game is probably gonna be bad or at the least boring

Not disagreeing that bad MMR makes bad matches. I'm saying give MMR a chance to adjust to all of the changes.

In my opinion, DBD's MMR should have a concept like RD from the glicko system. RD measures how often you play. The more often you play, the less your rating moves (because it's had more data about your play); conversely, the less often you play, the more your rating moves (because it's had less data about your play, so your rating is less certain). When there's a big patch like this they could reset everyone's RD so that ratings adjust more quickly.

Static rating adjustments (like +10 if you escape or -10 if you are killed) can in theory be accurate, but require a huge number of matches to settle near your "true" rating. It's a linear-time adjustment. Systems that take into account frequency of play can be just as accurate in logarithmic-time. For example, a static rating adjustment in a pool of 100k players will take many thousands of games per player to sift everyone into their respective brackets; in the same-size pool, a good system taking into account frequency could probably do the same in under 50 matches per player.

  • so yeah our fault

I mean, you said it yourself. Your team allowed the killer to get a 3 gen and made bad plays. Sometimes you get matched with bad teammates, that's DBD.

You're also playing after the biggest perk shakeup patch in DBD history, at least within the last 2 years if not ever, which means everyone's MMR is all over the place. People who crutched on DH have higher MMR than they should, many killers have lower MMR than they should after the buffs, and -- surprise -- there's still survivors who don't know how to play the game. Coming back to the game after a patch like this and forming an opinion after 2 games makes the opinion easily discarded. Your MMR needs time to adjust, and it's not gonna do that in 2 games.

It's probably going to be a few more weeks at minimum until the MMR upset shakes out, and it's only going to settle for those who play consistently.

  • Unfortunately most people will take the path of least resistance and play whatever role is easier to win with, instead of the role they think is the most fun mechanically.

  • @CyberRoninX said:

Your objective as killer is to get as many survivors as you can. If you wanna let survivors go then do that just know that when you do you are skewing the numbers. It seems that a lot of the killers on this post are saying they will let full groups of survivors escape in multiple games they are playing. If this keeps happening of course the average is going to be off. Play how you want to but the game is intended for the killer to get as many survivors as their skill can allow. Same with survivors if they are better than the killer they deserve the win. Letting survivors escape doesn't help them to be better at the game.

    Play how you want to

    Thanks, I will.

Killer instinct can also reveal survivors in lockers. It might have very well been a cheat, but KI might be a possibility.

Was gonna comment this myself. Artist and Legion in particular can find survivors in lockers using just their base kit very easily; Demo can too but less easily because there has to be a nearby open portal. Spirit has addons for KI, and many other killers can get KI on survivors in lockers through various means.

It could've been a cheater for sure, but there's lots of ways for killers to locate survivors hiding in lockers. I've had some locker pulls that probably looked super suspicious to survivors, but I always had some clue that there was a survivor nearby (disturbed crows, scratch marks that were almost completely faded away, etc.).

  • I have played against skilled killers who knew to wait out DH, so maybe it is a matter of killer skills to be able to deal with DH?

I have over 1k hours on killer, and you are mistaken. If played right, there was no counter to old DH. The most broken usage of old DH was to gain a bit of distance in chase to reach the next loop, and there is no counter to this if you aren't in range. It's akin to 99'd Sprint Burst (albeit for less distance), but requires hardly any skill to execute, where 99'd SB requires the survivor to prepare it.

Nevermind the fact that waiting for E isn't fun or compelling gameplay. (New DH doesn't address this, but at least the perk isn't equipped 3 times on average per match anymore.)

The new DH properly rewards good timing, and it's not as useless as people think. You just have to be more accurate now, and arguably it's pretty strong as killers in general aren't going to be expecting it. You also get more distance if the killer does hit you. The skill floor for the perk rose, but so did the reward for using it at the right moment.

Basically, it's still strong -- but it's no longer free.

  • I main killer and I'd love for solos to have voice comms. They won't hear me coming because they'll be too busy loudly complaining about each other. 😂

Seriously, if there's one community that shouldn't have voice comms, it's this one.

I think a ping system strikes the right balance. I still see players abusing that to be annoying to their teammates, but people on the Internet will find ways to be annoying with any tool they are given.

  • This is probably accurate in the general case. Personally, I've always loved Whispers but didn't always have room in my build for it, feeling obligated to run BBQ and some slowdown, so I've just been swapping in Whispers most of the time.

  • @CyberRoninX said:

Then just play the game as intended. Get the kill if you can and if the survivor out plays you then good for them. If every killer played to get as many kills as possible and didn't let people escape then the numbers would be correct simple as that. If you cant understand that im sorry. Please by all means continue to complain about people complaining though. 😂

I've had survivors whine at me for not giving them the hatch in certain situations.

This community is something else, man. "Play the game as intended" actually means "play the game the way I think you should" and in a 1v4 there's going to be four different expectations about how the killer should play, and the odds are that at least two of those are going to conflict.

I've just stopped caring at this point because it's impossible to play "acceptably" for everyone, but I never thought I'd see the day when survivors complained about the killer being too nice. Geez laweez.

  • I'm fairly certain that purchased keys are valid forever, until used, so I believe you can still legitimately acquire ST this way, and I don't know why you would get banned. I'd be more worried about buying a redeemed/invalid key than any consequences from BHVR.

  • I'm sure there are some survivors doing this to inflate kill rates, but I imagine a lot are trying to lower their MMR to go against easier killers, or are just goofing around / trolling other survivors.

  • This post might be the best evidence I've seen that people will complain about anything. One more item to add to the killer rule book, I guess. How many pages are we up to now?
