  • I saw someone trying it with permanent EW3 Myers, Agitation and Iron grasp. Probably would have worked if we hadn't figured it out and just ran as far from the basement as possible.

  • Actually, what the devs said was that they understood that they nerfed Legion unintentionally and were watching him closely to see what they could do to bring him back up to better standing.

This Legion of version isn't here to stay. It's inevitably going to to change for the better.

The tell I feel is pretty obvious. Once you see someone go down from healthy once, you know she's using it. Ideally you don't want to get hit by a hatchet even if she's not using it, so it's not really a "too little too late" situation.

Anyway, I'd be totally okay with that personally. The most interesting idea I've heard was to make long range hatchets (>24m or 32m) instantly down people. That way it stays powerful, but requires a lot more skill to use and has way more counterplay. What do y'all have in mind?

Have you considered having Iridescent Heads apply Deep Wounds instead? It's a powerful effect thst would force the survivor to mend and keep them off of the gens longer while allowing the Huntress to move on to a new chase.

  • Get rid of a bunch of loops.

Increase hiding and options for remaining unseen.

The game isn't scary when you just have to loop the killer and confidently run them around the map without a care.

So long as the survivors go in knowing they won't have much trouble, and don't go in expecting to struggle to escape, the game won't be scary.

You didn't read this post did you?

These people are suggesting that when the Killer dc's, it counts as an escape. Meaning, if the killer DC's, it is a free win. And we all know toxicity is a thing in Dbd. People who legitimately try to survive are good people, but I'm more focused on the people who deliberately try to make the Killer dc. And as this guy suggested, if the Killer DC's, it's a win. I'm merely arguing that putting that into the game would make it worse for the sake of making ONE challenge easier. It's like destroying a house to make yourself a shed.

I never said anything that the Killer dcing is a good thing, I never said Survivors trying to survive is toxic either.

I did. You're assuming the killer wouldn't do this anyway just to make a survivor unable to get their challenge done.

If I didn't read it, how could I properly respond to it?

Killers DC all the time because survivors are better than them. I've saved a few twitch games where killers were streaming and quit. There goes my challenge because the killer quits mid-game.

It shouldn't be up to the whim of another player that you don't get something done.

  • @Toxicboii said:

This will raise Toxicity exponentially. Because now the objective becomes 'annoy the killer until they dc', since you get a free win from it.

Lads, this is not a mechanic that is to be added for the sake of a Steam Achievement.

    AN. ACHIEVEMENT. Of all things.

You mean survivors trying to survive is raising toxicity, but the killer DCing because they're not doing well is ok? The killer couldn't just DC to be toxic and deny the challenge? The reverse could never be true?

  • @rch614 said:

Huh I actually have completed challenges from killer dc'ing. I've also completed a 4k challenge by having someone dodge the offering screen. Maybe it's just inconsistent...

Which challenge? Because if it's something you can do before the killer quits then it has nothing to do with this challenge issue. The issue here is if the killer DC's, you don't get credit for escaping.

  • When you pop three gens and the killer leaves because they haven't gotten a hook then you have done something and you're challenge has been stolen from you because of a butthurt quitter.

  • Plague and Legion.

They're either broken or mending. They ARE NOT doing gens and will be one shot no matter what.

I'm gonna answer something REALLY different from what you guys usually get... Sometimes... Hear me out... Just sometimes... There are killers who lack potential to kill and maybe even worse, they just had 4 horrible games in a row where they couldn't get a single kill (maybe against teabaggers who body blocked the kill in the end game) and they need to have some kind of "release".

    Face camp, Tunnel, Ebony...

    You get me?

There was no ebony. I spectated the rest of the game.

One person DC'd when they figured out what he was doing.

The other one suicided when they figured it out.

The Bubba tried to farm the last person for chase and hits before they just DC'd.

  • @MissBehavingX said:

I'll make a summary of the responses you'll get

    *Camping is a valid playstile

    *Killer loses points

*Other survivors can take this time to finish gens / genrush the killer

    *"Git Gud kid"

Am I missing anything else? lol

And all those responses don't actually have anything to do with the problem.

  • @Peanits said:

It's possible, but we tend to rework or update existing perks that need it before adding new perks on top of the ones that are already there. More perks means more bloodwebs and a lower chance of finding the ones you actually want. No One Left Behind is a very recent example of that. Rather than piling on a bunch of new perks, why not make one that's not being used a little better?

You should really take this philosophy to killers. Like, instead of gutting Legion....

  • I don't stream but apparently people know me from my Killer Creation posts/videos enough to harrass me after a game if I kill them. So, no, I don't do anything differently for streamers. I know what it's like to be treated worse simply because you do videos.

the sad thing is, that not every challenge lets you play the game normally. For example normally I don't search chests, but for that chest challenge which was hard for me (cause most of the time all the other survivors searched them before I got the chance) I did nothing at the beginning but searching chests. Sorry for the person that died on hook early, but I had to search the last closed chest on the other site of the map where the other two survivors where working on a gen close to that chest. This is not how I NORMALLY play. So even though I totally agree with you, when it comes to challenges like "unhooking" or "healing" a lot of challenges force us to play in a toxic way. These "in one trial" challenges bother me the most though. And like I said before some challenges depend too much on luck and your team mates. Even that unhooking 15 survivors challenge took me 25 games, cause most of the time

    • the other survivors were closer than I was or playing swf and swarming the hook already -
    • the killers dc right at the beginning of the trial
    • nobody got hooked
    • I was the first on hook and died, cause nobody came to unhook, they were searching chests or healing themselves - maybe this could have something to do with the challenges? ;)

Starting 25 games to get one challenge done is ridiculous. Switching to that 3 gen challenge, oh look, I've spawned next to the killer, running him around for 4 gens, challenge not done, maybe next game then, or the game after that, finally just finished it because I've played selfish again. And that's when we are talking about luck, team mates and not normal game play again. When you play solo like I do, well...RIP, cause since the tome release you don't have 3 team mates, you have 3 rivals.

And I'm a casual player, I only play on fridays and saturdays due to personal life reasons (work from 7am - 6pm with a long access route, family etc.) So I won't get the rift finished before it ends without paying for it, which I won't. And I won't buy the next rift, cause I already know that I won't be able to finish that as well. I'm happy to see that there are people like you that don't have problems with these challenges, but I'm sure that the majority will have big problems to finish it by just playing the game and not paying for it :(

I play solo. It's taken me a maximum of three games, playing normally, to get any of these challenges done except the 'save/hook 15 survivors' ones or 'drop x pallets during a chase' which happen over multiple games if you, again, just play normally.

The chest one takes one game. Equip Plunderer's Instinct, bring offerings that increase the number of chests. Win. You can play normally and use the extra information to get it done without having to hope for a "chance".

Doing gens is playing selfishly? So it's selfish to work on the objective now? That's a new one. I didn't realize getting the gens done so everyone could get out was a selfish act....

I'm a casual player as well. The most difficult of these for me to do was blinding the killer twice in one game. Got it first try because I decided to use my brain and do a gen next to a window. Went through, blinded the killer, went back through, blinded the killer. Easy.

These challenges are laughably easy. Casuals, even new players, can do these in a few games if they just play normally and use their brains to bring perks and addons that help you achieve them.

    • the other survivors were closer than I was or playing swf and swarming the hook already - (OH NO! You mean... they were playing selfishly by trying to unhook someone?!? I thought you said doing Gens was playing selfishly... both of these can't be selfish can they?)
    • the killers dc right at the beginning of the trial (You're blaming a killer DC to being a hinderance to being able to do these challenges? XD That has nothing to do with the 'difficulty' of the challenges. You may as well blame heavy traffic that stops you from being able to get home in time to play as much to being a hinderance as well.)
    • nobody got hooked (Now you're blaming good survivors or a bad killer? Holy crap, it's like everything that DOESN'T go your way AND everything that DOES go your way is a reason for you not to be able to complete these challenges now...)
    • I was the first on hook and died, cause nobody came to unhook, they were searching chests or healing themselves - maybe this could have something to do with the challenges? ;) (Wait... survivors were searching chests and healing themselves.... like normal... in every game ever? It HAD to be the chllaneges they were doing and not that they were bad solo queue teammates, right? Definitely the challenges. I'm sure you've never been one-hooked ever before, right? What was the excuse before the tome came out? Did they not know you were hooked? But now that tomes are out it's because they were doing challenges? It couldn't possibly be they were doing normal survivor actions while assuming someone else was on the way to unhook you right? Nah! HAD to be the challenges. ;) )

You can make up all the excuses you want to, but your blaming normal gameplay and gameplay issues that you would have anyway for the reasons you somehow can't get normal gameplay done.

  • @BDS22 said:

We did not change Deep Wound time just to "fix" Legion. It was an idea we came up with that could help with the Legion frustration problems, but then we evaluated it and the other ramifications it would have. We decided that it was a good idea for several reasons and went with it.

Ironically, you fixed the SURVIVOR'S Legion frustration problems but just execerbated the KILLER'S problems because his Deep Wound is essentially useless now, but now you've made it laughable with faster mend speeds.

It doesn't matter how fast you make him if you keep making his power easier and easier for survivors to manage.

    Yes.

But it was tested already. Furtive chase doesn't activate it

If this is true, then the devs need to change the wording. Because the way it reads now, it should work with Furtive Chase.

  • @UncannyLuck said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/854018#Comment_854018

You're misreading it - Nemesis should be treated as 'when you are stunned or blinded, your obsession changes and <other effects>' not 'whenever your obsession changes or you are stunned/blinded'

But it doesn't read that way. As it reads, it has two different effects:

    1. Whenever you're stunned or blinded; the person who did it becomes the obsession.
    2. Whenever a survivor becomes the obsession, they become oblivious.
  • No need to... because Furtive Chase makes them become the obsession. It meets Nemesis' requirements.

  • @immortalls96 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/853929#Comment_853929

Well nemesis is understandable thanks to legion and his ever more useless deep wound..what they should do is like begrimed chains on Billy slow down certain actions till healed , that way he has pressure but doesnt ruin perks and ideas for other killers just because not hitting him with a pallet is apparently too difficult

A perk making a killer playable (again, not good or viable, just playable), is no reason to knee jerk reaction to it. Perks are supposed to make killers stronger. Otherwise no one would use perks.

  • It amazes me that BHVR believes they need to nerf this interaction. They keep nerfing Legion and now it'll be anything that makes Legion playable (not even viable, just playable).

Oh so your point is that ANYBODY can do these challenges and it just takes up a bunch of time

Listen i get you're mad, for whatever reason but you're literally just saying I'm right and mocking the disabled ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is a perfect example of how toxic the community can be, you're trying you're hardest to bash me.....but you're just repeating what im saying. And i understand your endgame is "challenge good , u scrub!" but this is the only game i know where instead of trying to counter what i say people will just go "You're right but ######### you #########!"

Also the only game where 90% of the forum is just "######### the devs" which is probably why we have a stupid ass situation like the current tomes. They can't listen their community

I haven't once insulted you. Nor am I mad. You're the one trying to turn things I say into insults. It's a solid tactic for people who can't actually defend their points. You try to attack the character of the person you're speaking with instead. But it doesn't work when the person you're speaking with doesn't take your bait.

So you're attempts at twisting what I've said haven't worked. You're attempt to make me an example of toxicity hasn't worked. And trying to pretend like the points I make were never said just make your attempts to belittle me look even more sad.

Maybe one day you'll learn to have a productive conversation with points and counterpoints without trying to insult the other person or twisting their words to make it seem like they're saying you're right.

Till then, you have a good rest of your day.

  • @immortalls96 said:

I think hes a killer that can do very well if played properly..so that means people need to tailor their chases to him as he works differently

Before i read anything past the first line

"You must be bad if you can't complete them"

Why even say that if you're just going to concede to the fact that it's not hard it's tedious ๐Ÿ˜‚

Actually not to be an ahole but the games loading, i already invalidated your opinion by immediately getting you to go back so yeah....gotta go do them FUN and CHALLENGING challenges lol

If you're going to quote something, quote it correctly. I said you have to be a "special kind of bad". Not just bad, but so bad that it's a special level. Bad players can do these challenges. You essentially have to be brain dead if you can't, or intentionally trying not to do them.

You invalidated nothing. But I'm happy you think you did.

  • @Peanits said:

It's to remove hatch standoffs. At the same time, we added the ability for the killer to close the hatch. Now that the killer can close the hatch, whoever gets there first wins.

Why not just make it so that if the doors open up, the hatch doesn't. The survivors have two giant ways out at that point. They don't need a bonus point giving way out that entices them to stay in the game longer.

  • @SaintDenisSlasher said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/852270#Comment_852270

Again, proving my point. I'm "bad" because i can't.....do a few tedious challenges a day?

You don't care, you don't like it, you don't even actually think its challenging, BUT you still feel pride in putting time and effort into it.

Also didn't read what i said so let me hammer this in, this sucks. You'll do it, ill do it. Im the only one of my friends who likes the game enough to do it. Because they're not fun, they're tedious and time consuming. You work 9 to 5 like most people? Don't have much time to play? WELL you better spend all that time doing things you don't want to do on one game.

You know i mentioned this before but there's a large culture divide between PC and consoles where PC players think nothing to have a few thousand hours on a game, and yeah through that lense sure i guess the tomes are fine, they might even be made the way they are BECAUSE of the PC playerbase. But adding a battlepass, putting the game on switch, on mobile! It seems like they naturally want to appeal to a more casual audience and grow the game right? Maybe then we shouldn't base things like this off of people who have invested 1000s of hours and instead look to the game that we took this whole concept from to start with

What about them is hard? It's literally playing the game. I didn't prove a single point of yours.

Let me hammer it in. The "challenges" are just looking for you to play the game normally and you'll eventually just get it done.

How can I feel pride in doing something that I would have done anyway? Yay, I blinded the killer twice in one game. Ooooooo! So difficult! What? Unhook someone who unhooked me? That's basically every match if you're not a selfish tunnel-visioned gen jockey.

How is it basing the game off of what people who have thousands of hours in when they just ask you to do normal, every match things? Heal two health states? Only people thousands of hours could EVER do that!!!!

You're either a special kind of bad to think these are actually challenging and thinking it takes thousands of hours to be capable of doing any of these challenges, or you're just trying to stir crap up because you don't want to do them.

If they're (somehow) too difficult, don't do them. They're not a requirement. And adding more players isn't catering to "casuals".

Heck, if you think these "challenges" are challenging, I hate to break it to you; you're more than a casual. Even casuals are able to do these things.

  • @FogNoob said:

I wouldnt compare Meyers, Plague or ghostface to hillbilly because his mechanics are not just about the one shot.. but also speed (both fit ONI, though). So yeah, I think it's pretty fair comparing both of them.

And I agree "There are only so many "unique" mechanics to work with".... until you add more mechanics! We've seen it in the past.. they added the doctor who applies debufs to the survivors, they added the pig, who can put traps and stall the game a bit... then myers who can stalk and expose survivors... even the plague with the cleansing mechanic and the liquid projectile, pretty neat. Now saying collecting the orbs to fill a gauge is a new mechanic.. or that you can use it to track.. I dont know. Feel a little too gimmicky to me..

If th developers really mean when they say they want to grow and support this game for another 10 years I think it's fair we can expect a little bit more from them.

All those mechanics you mentioned (except for the Doctor's) are just different takes on the same ability. You'll never be happy because there's only a finite amout of ways for them to make killers go faster, find survivors, and down them.

  • @SaintDenisSlasher said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/851418#Comment_851418

Oh wow we got a god over here

This actually brings up another point, you don't want it to be simpler because you're putting in A LOT of time and effort right?

But how many people can dedicate all those hours to grinding out challenges they probably don't want to do in this game? I mean it completely cuts off the entire casual fan base (Which btw is where the money is, whales are nice but a school of hungry fish all eating the same content will go further, see fortnite)

All those time and hours? At most, a single challenge might take two or three games. And since you can do them WHENEVER YOU WANT for the lore and bloodpoint rewards, just not the Rift fragments.

Exactly how much work do you think you have to put in to do these? A few games a day and you can get 2-3 (or more) challenges done. You'd have to be some kind of bad to not be able to get at least one done a day. Even at one a day you would finish in two weeks.

How DARE the Devs give you infinite time to complete the challenges and get the rewards? Who has infinite time?

  • You're seeing what you want to see at this point.

Every game uses essentially every mechanic you just mentioned in some form or another. You may as well say every killed is a copy of Trapper because they all walk around the map and hit people.

You should say that Hillbilly, Nurse, and Legion are all just Wraith because their power lets him move faster. Or that Bubba, Meyers, Plague, and Ghostface are all just Hillbilly because their powers let them one-shot survivors.

The Oni collects resources that survivors drop to fill up his power gauge. Never been done before.

He can use the resources dropped as a way to track survivors. Never been done before.

He uses the resources collected to empower himself into a temporary speed state (which plenty of killers AND PERKS do) that allows him to one-shot survivors.

Using similar mechanics isn't running out of ideas. There are only so many "unique" mechanics to work with. It's how they're used and applied that make killers different. Never play a video game is you don't want to see these exact same mechancis implimented somehow, because they're in every single video game ever.

That implies that the Entity snatched up Rin as a survivor, then she managed to escape its realm. Thats really hard to believe, especially considering that she'd act like nothing happened once she returned.

Conversely, it makes more sense as to why the Entitiy would choose her over her father- she'd know exactly how to call out to the Entity and become a killer.

The Entity has been confirmed to pull people from multiple time periods adn timelines. Getting a pre-murder and post-murder Rin isn't beyond its ability, especially if it thought the trauma survivor Rin would go through having to escape her father (or her own twisted self) would help nourish and entertain it more.

  • @Blackburne said:

So you want that trapper reskin without the traps?

I pity your lack of imagination if you think Jason would just be Trapper without the traps.

  • I would LOVE IT if we got Rin's dad as a killer and got a survivor version of Rin as well.

Since the Entity pulls killers and survivors from different time periods, pulling Rin from before the murders would be possible. It'd be amazing to be Rin and going against Spirit. An awesome mirror match!

The game actively penalizes you for that. You ask why you're being punished for playing efficiently, but you're failing to understand that you *aren't* playing efficiently. It's why you aren't rewarded for it. You are there to entertain the entity. Enjoy continuing to be punished for being boring.

How is downing one survivor and then another survivor not efficient play? Are you syaing that downing and hooking (or attempting to hook) two survivors isn't playing efficiently?

I think you're confusing ACTUAL efficient play for "not entertaining the entity" play.

actually youd be surprised this did actually happened to me there was nobody to chase I was the only one left everyone else was dead and the killer never left the area and it was on the game my guess is he had barbeque and seen me before I entered the locker had I exited I would've died cause I was injured and god knows your footsteps arnt quiet depending on who you play

Are you blaming the killer for staying in the area where the last survivor is and trying to use it as justification to give you more time to hide?

  • Do you realize you have to stay in that locker or a full minute before the first spawns?

If you can't find an opportunity to move in a minute even when in the killer's terror radius, which probably means they're wandering around walls, in/out of buildings, or more than likely chasing another survivor.

So I disagree. If you stay still for a full minute, you get the crows. You're screwing over the rest of the survivors because you refuse to move. You staying in your locker is you not running and distracting the killer, not doing gens, not helping the rest of the team.
