Making the first box wrong automatically feels cheap to me and doesn’t fit with the saw theme.
Yeah I think we all agree rule set no 2 should be base kit. Getting traps off before it even triggers makes her powerless.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Amanda's whole schtick in Saw that she rigs the games to be unfair?
-
@doitagain_ said:
Honestly her traps are fine the way they are. She just needs an add-on rework, something to compensate for the EGC nerf and qol changes. Sometimes they find it in the first box, sometimes the last. It’s supposed to be a saw game of finding your key in the time limit, not “get your trap off after searching 3 times”.
@DevourOfSalt there’s an addon for an extra trap but it’s never really necessary. Adding extra jigsaw boxes is always your best bet with her addons.
I'm of the opinion that the range in variance for the Pig is a bit too high and that there needs to be a little more consistency in the Pig's favor. I think first box being auto-fail could go a long way in helping her out in this regard.

Silly Survivor main. Wraith is weak to Bear Traps.

it does not have to be yuno they can just create their own anime character and put it in the game and just call it "the anime" or something for nickname lol
If it's not a licensed character, why would they make a character who stylistically clashes with the aesthetic of the game? :P

because we need a crazy anime girl in the game they should be able to put her in the game the devs did say nothing is off the table now ;)
Didn't OP say non-licensed? :P

I'd personally also add in the con side that the Pig ambush also reveals her position with an audio cue.

Your character model blocks you from revealing him. He will a hard time stalking someone up close but survivors can have a hard time revealing him in return. In short, reveal from a shorter distance away and keep him around the center of your camera.
To be fair, your own Survivor character model blocking GF reveal is really dumb IMO.

She is weak. Survivors are mostly stupid and has the game sense of a potato. It's why I'm seriously thinking survivor apparently has a higher skill cap than killers at this point.
I agree that she is weak, but I'd rather not derail the main thread topic. :P

That actually would be a pretty cool Survivor DLC.

Alot of Tru3's viewers are seeing Tru3 play him more the "right" way and emulating him. When Tru3 says a killer is #########, his viewers all say its F tier. If Tru3 changes his mind, even if nothing was changed at all... Look at that, all of a sudden the killer's ranking goes up. This change in popularity has also sparked other content creators to do videos of their own (Otz did 2 videos on him just yesterday).
To be fair, Tru3 thinks Pig is a solid Killer, but you still have a lot of people believing Pig is weak.

There is a reason the saying commonly goes "Don't feed the troll."

I was wondering that myself regarding a player DCing before the trial started.

Thread title: "Nerf stalk killers, but also buff them"
OP talks all about nerfing Myers and Ghostface and why they should be nerfed and how to nerf them
"oh also buff them in some other way"
Hm...

If I'm being honest, you seemed like the instigator here.

I'd be happy with just making the first box auto-fail. No need to do all this percentage stuff.

To put your suspicions to rest, I compiled this short video to confirm the answer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGTQ_ao-gMc&feature=youtu.be
Basically, I had my friend sit around the corner as the Pig and crouch two times to see if the Terror Radius would fade out or not...
The answer is, YES! It still fades out into 0 Terror Radius... The Undetectable Status effect doesn't kick in until the end of the crouching animation... so they snuck the status effect into her crouch without taking away from that mechanic!
What that means is, the status effect doesn't come in until she's basically at the end of crouching... than it turns on. Before, she would crouch and than the Terror Radius would turn off after a few seconds... as you can see in the video this still happens... (It seems to be faster though but that's debatable.)
This should 100% answer your question! (We did this without the crouching add-ons btw... if you use the crouching add-ons than the status effect will turn on a lot quicker because the crouching animation is quicker...)
This 100% answers my question. Many thanks.

In real life, my friend is not a magical demon who is trying to hang me on a meat hook while I mash a button to struggle. Unless it's a really specific type of game, realism is not a rationale for how a game mechanic works, or should work.
As a killer, I swing at someone who's just vaulted a window and miss every time, because they are cleanly on the other side, even though they are right there. As a survivor, I finish the vault animation and still get downed. It needs to be consistent across both viewpoints. I'm sick of feeling like "that was totally a clean vault and I still got hit."
The way I see it, the whole "it's a video game so IRL logic shouldn't necessarily apply" is generally used to argue why a thing in a video game that is not consistent with real life is still fine. It doesn't work really to explain why something in a game that already follows IRL logic should not.
-
I find it bizarre that they gave a Killer that has a damaging Killer Power a perk that only cares about basic attacks.

I'm a survivor main and I say leave it alone. Keys, too. Sometimes you lose.
These discussions are like people complaining about Mariano Rivera's cutter. If he threw it right, it was essentially unhittable.
If the Yankees had a lead going into the 9th, they were probably gonna win. But you didn't see other teams crying about imbalance.
They took the loss and moved on. And yes the cutter was a skill, but the principle is the same. You can't mori what you can't catch.
Suck it up, everyone. Can't win 'em all.
The difference is that Mariano Rivera's cutter didn't require less effort to use (I assume) and did not essentially significantly hamper or outright negate whatever momentum the opponent(s) had at that moment for less effort than usual. That is why Moris are an issue (IMO) while, say, Tombstone Piece is okay in my book.
-
I don't know if option 1 would be enough, but that could just be me being overly skeptical. Option 2 is overkill; simply making it work on death hooks would be enough to warrant it being reduced in rarity a fair bit.
(I also think Ivory Mori is problematic, but that is just me).

@Hoodied said:
It does need a buff, but we won't be seeing it being buffed sadly
If the issue is that they are scared to buff it for fear of it becoming OP (I don't think that is something to worry about much given how weak the add-on is, but I am not the devs), they can always re-work it.

Beast of prey is horrible because the best looping areas in the game have wide enough lines of sight that you don't need to see the killers red stain to be able to run them correctly. Not having a red stain is irrelevant in many cases. Spirit fury is much more threatening in a chase, and played correctly that's close to what wraith can get purely through add-ons.
And with Beast of Prey, you don't have any say over whether you have access to it in the areas where you can actually make use of the lack of a red stain. Plus, Beast of Prey also doesn't hide your TR. :P

@Desolate_Sands said:

Ghostface can't use spirit fury with the slowdown build that everyone is toting in this thread. I don't use beast of prey because it's horrible, and that's basically what ghostface's power gets you in a chase if you are not stalking.
You don't have to, but the option is there.
Beast of Prey is horrible because you don't have any control over when it procs.

@Desolate_Sands said:

Well clearly the survivors you are playing are not that good. And this argument isn't about if you need it or not. It's about who is the better M1 killer. Hmm, beast of prey, or spirit fury, hmmm.....
On-command Beast of Prey. :P Especially when I can use Spirit Fury anyways for the pallet breaking benefit. I mean, you can try using Beast of Prey on Wraith and see how that works out.
-
@Desolate_Sands said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814209#Comment_814209
Yeah. So you can have both spirit fury, and an entire game-slowdown build. And spirit fury on every single pallet by the way.
Don't really need Spirit Fury when I can just turn off the red stain mid-chase and either mindgame my foe from there or just move back to gen defense. :P
-
@Desolate_Sands said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814201#Comment_814201
In a chase, you constantly threaten to go into stealth while moving up to the pallets. If they actually drop it, you finish the cloak, go into stealth, and instantly break it and unstealth. Then it's basically spirit fury. If they don't drop it, you move through and get a hit.
So I'm using more add-ons to accomplish what perks already do? :P

Boy, you have never read what serpent does have you?
That's fine. You probably run stalk add-ons on your stalkless ghostface as well.
I don't want to give up stealth when breaking pallets. :P

@Desolate_Sands said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814163#Comment_814163
Because base kit wraith is 100% fine for getting ambush hits at gens? You only need add-ons to improve the cloak if you are going for gen-grabs.
Otherwise, his best add-ons are making him patrols gens way faster (getting more ambush hits and stacking thanta and sloppy faster than ghostface, especially with no cooldown on the power), or smashing pallets in .3 seconds where ghostface is probably going to do it in ~2.5 seconds or ~2 if he has brutal.
But hey, run a worse wraith M1 ghostface if you like. I won't stop you, easier wins as survivor for me.
Nah, base kit Wraith is bad. ;) But hey, you do you. Feel free to break pallets faster and then lose that gained distance when trying to uncloak. :P Meanwhile, Ghostface don't gotta spend time figuring out how to unstealth properly.
-
@Desolate_Sands said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814139#Comment_814139
I am assuming you never played wraith before his buff? You didn't even get a speed boost without a purple or green add-on back in the day. Now it is so easy to get ambush hits with him, all you need to do is to start the uncloak behind a wall and only step out halfway through the uncloak. Unless they are a sprint burst user, it's basically a guaranteed hit.
Gens in the open don't usually get you the free hits, but they probably don't as ghostface either.
"Why would I ever use sloppy butcher as an add-on".....so you don't have to run sloppy butcher? Good lord lol. Wraith can do Ruin, Pop, Thanta, Dying Light and then the sloppy butcher add-on. Ghostface has to give one of those up to get sloppy butcher.
Like 2/3'rds of ghostfaces add-ons involved stalking, and that playstyle makes them useless.
No, I did not play Wraith before his buff. I don't see why that matters, given that Wraith still struggles, even with green Windstorm as base kit.
Lol, why would I waste an add-on slot not improving Wraith's cloak?
-
@Desolate_Sands said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814116#Comment_814116
You can do whatever you want. If you are not stalking as ghostface, wraith is better. No cooldown on the power, can't be broken out of the power, way way better add-ons for an M1 killer (shadow dance + serpent + brutal strength gets pallet breaks down to like ~.3 seconds if I recall), and gets sloppy butcher as an add-on so you can basically run 5 perks instead of 4. You get the exact same ambush hits at the gens if you are good.
Ghostface can attack out of stealth immediately, which is way better than Wraith needing to shore up his weakness of having to wait until he fully uncloaks to attack. I don't need to find the correct spot to uncloak and hope that the opponents haven't bolted fast enough such that the speed boost doesn't matter. Plus, why would I ever use Sloppy Butcher as an add-on when I can use it as a perk? Almost no add-on that inflicts Mangled is worth using because Sloppy Butcher exists.
-
@Desolate_Sands said:
Why play ghostface like a worse wraith? Wraith does this build so much better. Ghostface is all about the 1 shots where you can get them. Wraith is about ambushing people in succession or being an M1 killer with no heartbeat.
Bad build. I don't care how much he says it's "optimal" when he is dunking on baddie survivors. I am sure every game on his channel is cherry-picked like all the other streamers. Want to know how many times I have tombstoned monto? Probably like 20+
Guess how many are on his channel? 0!
Why would I play Wraith like a worse Ghostface? If I wanted to play stealth, I'd play Ghostface.

Bud the reason there's no ''evidence" is because it's such a stupid idea that all game developers know it'd kill a game. There's no evidence because no one has been dumb enough to say ''You are hereby punished for enjoying a pastime with your friend."
I'm sorry you so desperately want this to be just a baseless assumption, but it's really not. It's just straight up damn common sense. Games will never punish people for playing with friends, because games are made to make money. Not alienate players.
Alienating players is the fastest way to end your game's livelyhood and there's more than enough known instances of that that we'd be here all night listing them. It just so happens no company has been idiotic enough to say ''Friends bad. Don't bring them." like you apparently want BHVR too.
"Bud the reason there's no ''evidence" is because it's such a stupid idea that all game developers know it'd kill a game."
What do you base this claim on?
You tell me that I want it to be a baseless assumption, but if it is not a baseless assumption, then what is it? Fact?
-
@alienschmalien said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/807846#Comment_807846
It's not even an assumption really. It's common sense. Players aren't going to like to be penalized for playing a game with friends. No game in the history of ever has done this to people.
And you know why? It's bad business practice for the developers behind the game and turns away a potential audience.
Your bias towards/against SWF is clouding your judgement. It's not me making assumptions. It's you assuming that the game would be peachy keen and fine when in reality everything that is logical says it would die agonizingly over the remaining months if they were ever to do such a thing.
No, it is an assumption. You aren't supporting this claim with anything demonstrable or whatnot; you are just declaring it to probably be true and expecting that to actually be the case.
-
@alienschmalien said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/807077#Comment_807077
You don't need proof to know this to be true.
You just need common sense.
Imagine a game saying ''You are being punished for playing with your friends. Less points for you then!"
Imagine what the human reaction to that will be? It'll be ''Well, I'll just go play another game." and eventually you've widdled down a signficant chunk of the playerbase and lobbies will take far longer than they already do to acquire.
People will get tired of waiting longer to play survivor solo, they'll quite. Killers won't be able to fill lobbies, so they'll quit.
Congratulations Dead by Daylight is dead because ''Playing with your friends is unfair."
So what you are saying is that you are just making an assumption.
-
Why not use Shadowborn, then?

Nurse is still a top tier killer, probably the best.
Pig.. i dont know what people have with her, i get 3-4K with her on red ranks frequently. She is pretty solid in my opinion.
Spirit need some slight changes, like removing or changing some of her addons and remove collision. Then she is fine. At the current status, she is to strong period.
"Pig.. i dont know what people have with her, i get 3-4K with her on red ranks frequently. She is pretty solid in my opinion."

@alienschmalien said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/807025#Comment_807025
Lol. The sheer fact is it'll never happen, if it did. You wouldn't have a game to play because it would die of, and the fact of the matter is nine times out of ten, an SWF isn't even relaying game changing info to one another. Most of the time? They're just a group of friends playing a game, goofing off and talking about things other than the game itself.
Punishing them for that? Drives people away from Dead by Daylight and ultimately kills the game.
Do you have anything to back up any of what you said, or is this all assumption?

There shouldn't be a penalty in ANY multiplayer game for playing with friends, I know you're not suggesting it, but the very idea of it even being considered is laughable when other games in fact REWARD you with extra points for doing so (Overwatch, etc).
This is one of those times where "DBD is different" actually could be considered a legit counterpoint because unlike a game like Overwatch, DBD is designed where only one side has access to such a luxury (Survivors), and said luxury does provide a significant benefit to those who take advantage of it.
-
@Desolate_Sands said:

No way. I've played him at red ranks for years and literally any gen with an LOS blocker, where you would get a free hit as ghostface, you will 95% of the time get that same free hit as wraith if you uncloak as you come around the corner.
The gens in the middle of the open you don't get the free hit, but you probably would not get it as ghostface either.
The majority of wraiths add-ons make him more powerful as an M1 killer. The majority of ghostfaces add-ons make him better at stalking people. You get the exact same ambush hits as either killer, so who do you think is going to perform better in an M1-off.....
The one whose power doesn't come with a ringtone, I would guess.

Survive With Friends is just....something every multiplayer game has. People like to play with friends.
You can't NERF playing with friends, but you can nerf a character that has unfun mechanics.
I'm not saying that you should, but theoretically speaking you absolutely could nerf SWF. Penalties for friends teaming up is a thing you could hypothetically do (though again, I'm not necessarily saying that should happen).

Yeah but I got boil over from the shrine in summer but it randomly appeared for Jake, I don't understand this teachable thing
It's like this:
Certain Survivor perks are exclusive to a single Survivor until you unlock the ability for that perk to randomly appear in other Survivors' Bloodwebs. Once you reach Level 30/35/40, you will see an orangey-red version of one of the Survivor's perks. Unlocking this in the Bloodweb will now allow that perk to randomly appear at any level in any Survivor's bloodweb.

What if the timer gets increased based on terror radius/proximity? Yes, you can camp me out killer, but you're gonna have to wait a little longer then.
I think the actual solution is tricky to find because you gotta make sure you only really punish the camping that's just done for the sake of camping and not stuff like camping at the end of the game or camping because survivors are hawking around the hook due to excessive altruism.
-

Shame to see an actually good idea being filled with troll comments. While I think that the punishment for camping isn't severe enough, for some people, I think that it can be tweaked so that everyone is somewhat ok with it.
Instead of ONE emblem going down, why not make it ALL emblems but only have it trigger outside of a chase.
Personally, I'd also like to see an increase in minimum distance of traps to hooks.
Trolls and salty Hag/Trappers in 3...2...1...
A good idea would actually make camping less effective, not just cause the game to waggle its finger at you disapprovingly.
