  • It will never happen because it was obvious from Day 1 of Boons being in the game that they were designed to be better than Hexes.

I'm still waiting for a perk that allows Survivors to reopen the Hatch without a key. Or just a perk called 'ROFL, No: When being hooked, the Survivor gets a Skillcheck they literally cannot fail, even if they ignore it. Once they succeed at the skill check, They hook the Killer instead'.

(Yes, I am still bitter about Boons, and how they are literally lose/lose for Killers. Mostly it's Circle Of ThisOneIsBrokenAF. I will continue to be bitter about it until they finally nerf Circle Of InfiniteHeals)

But makes good survivors great. A well coordinated SWF with voicechat is a nightmare to play against, and if they are well coordinated and playing competitively they would be doing what he described there.

But the solution is not a no-SWF matchmaking list (even if I would thank it) because that would mean no killer in his right mind would go against a SWF for that same reason. The best solution for this is to add in-game voicechat to the game so every survivor, SoloQ or SWF now has that advantage and start balancing the game taking it in count.

You are correct; Devs should add voice chat and then balance around it.

But instead, they plug their ears, pretend voice comms don't break the game wide open, and refuse to balance for it. And every day, another Killer player leaves because SWFs decided to bully-squad, and 99% of Killers on the roster are too weak to go against that kind of coordination.

You seem to have a bias towards survivors. I'm sure it's not 99% but every post you make lumps every single survivor into this negative category. I'll be sure to take anything you say as gospel >.>

Maybe it's because I play Killer more, and I'm exhausted with Survivors blasting me in end game chat because they lost and invent excuses as to why/how I was toxic so they can treat me like crap without feeling bad?

  • @illumina said:

Apparently, there is no such thing as BM as a killer. They can bleed you out, slug, tunnel, camp, etc. Anything that they want to do they can do. None of it is reportable. So, what can you do? Just take it. It's already been confirmed from mods that all of this is acceptable for killers.

Of course none of it is reportable.

99% of reports would be Survivors screaming they got slugged/camped/tunneled/etc when the Killer did not pick them up in the middle of a pallet or saw their friend waiting to flashlight-save. Salty 'I lost' reports across the board.

I can watch DBD streamers and youtubers, and what's one of the FIRST THINGS out of their mouths if they are left downed for 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000005 of a second? "The Killer is SlUgGiNg!"

  • Wait, so OP is upset they can't stand above the basement hook & pause their hook timer with literally 0 risk?

The Basement hooks are supposed to be the Killer's home turf; Why would a safe Reassurance exist there?

  • I agree, but we all know BHVR is known for making one nerf, then making another that compounds the first into near-unplayability, and then ignores the first nerf because 'Who cares? It's a Killer issue.' ๐Ÿ™ƒ

It doesn't have to be about bans but it can lead to an increasingly toxic gameplay environment. Griefing/bullying can be obvious, though, and it was in this case. I mentioned to another forum member watching a streamer player in a 4-man SWF on Badham and using Head On against the Killer at the two-story house/garage. That's bullying and I understand that it can be both sides.

Except it was not griefing as written by the rules.

The killer was a jerk, sure, but you can't just punish people for being jerks, or you end up with a game incredibly over-sanatized where everyone is terrified to do ANYTHING in the fear that someone, somewhere, will be offended and report them for 'griefing'.

That's why rules are enforced AS WRITTEN and not per the vague, ever-changing 'spirit' that different people will interpret in whatever way works best for them.

Actual griefing is if he found you and did it to you multiple times across many matches, showing that he was singling you out.

Laugh it off and move on. The last time I had a Killer slug me and nod over my body to get under my skin; I just laughed and read a book until I bled out.

The last time I had Survivors abuse literal exploits so they could not be picked up, I was playing Trapper. So I encircled his body with traps so his friends could not take a hit while picking him up. And he could not use his multiple Get-Up-Alone perks to get free. His only choice was to either A) Move, and then I could pick him up or B) Wait me out. I threw the game to ensure he, and he explicitly, bled out. Because cheaters get the slow death.

Being a jerk is not cool, but you can't demand people get punished because you got angry. Sure, SOME of the events are clear bullying.

But you know what? I have had many, MANY matches where I got accused of griefing by salty Survivors because they ASSUMED I was playing to be a jerk, when all I was doing was whatever I thought was my best move at the time. I had no intention of 'ruining their game'. I was just playing to win, and so were they.

    Story time:

Like the time I 'slugged' someone (We will call him Person #1) because his friend (Person #2) was 5 feet away, and they went down in a pallet. So I chased #2, smacked him, and went back. Person #1 was JUST getting up by Person #3, so I downed Person #1 again, then chased #3, and hit him. Turned around, #2 was helping #1 up. So I downed #1 for the THIRD TIME, but he was still in a pallet, and people were nearby.

So I downed #2, who was hiding to pallet save, still injured. Turned around and #3 was waiting to pallet save as well, still injured. So I downed #3. All 3 people DC'd. And I got accused of 'trolling' and 'slugging' and 'griefing'. All because THEY played badly and decided to assume I was playing to ruin their fun rather than admit they just were too altruistic.

And THAT is why you can't just assume someone is ruining your fun. Because 7 times out of 10; They're not. It's someone just assuming the intent of their opponent and thinking 'I got angry, so CLEARLY they were TRYING to make me angry!'

It's also why so many players get nasty in end-game chat; They ASSUME their opponent was being toxic and think 'They were toxic FIRST, so it's okay if I go off! They asked for it!'

Side note: I apologize for the caps words. I use them as stressors, since this is a non-verbal medium. It's not me internet shouting, I swear. ๐Ÿ˜

It might not violate the letter of the law, but the spirit of it? In addition to the perks, the Killer had no intention of picking us up and was anonymous in the process.

You can't really ban people for violating the 'spirit of the rule' because that line will be different for everyone screaming for bans because they assume the Killer's intent was to make them angry.

  • Honestly, his traps should be semi-transparent at 5-15 meters, fully visible within 5, and invisible outside of 15 meters. (Numbers can be changed; I'm not quite solid on how far a 'meter' is in game)

    This would achieve many things:

    • Survivors that are running blindly would risk stepping in it.
    • Survivors that are moving slowly and being careful would see it before stepping in it.
    • The traps will not stick out on different maps
    • They also cannot be seen by the SWF hive mind from atop a hill 50 miles away from the trap itself.

This change would, in itself, make Trapper playable on every map, current or future.

The way I see it, it would be a fair trade-off because for starters survivors would no longer be spawning right next to generators that they can immediately hop on, and if they do want to go search for hexes, then Killers can always run undying to show their location, or haunted ground. It can still be a risk/reward system like it always was, but If I had to choose between totems or generators, I would much rather prefer that they search for totems instead of being able to immediately hop on a generator.

Fair enough. You're right that the idea does, at least slow down gens for a bit and can be built around.

I think I've played Nurse that day, and I've even slugged several survivors to death. (That day I had the open mouth + white-ish dress skin)

However every single one of them made it impossible for me to hook them. (e.g. they died in a no-hook zone with boil over and/or flip-flop.)

Since it happened in several matches I'm assuming there is some challenge about this, or players are emulating some streamer.

If this rings a bell, then know the goal was to counter the build, not waste anyone's time (especially not mine).

edit: mixed-up perk names. I went against a buckle-up + flip-flop but I've actually tested that guy's combo multiple times, killed his team and gave him hatch.

I don't play Nurse, but I once had a match where a Survivor ran to one of those zones where they can't be picked up (I forget which map it was; this was awhile back).

I walked away, and they had Unbreakable. Because of course cheaters do.

So I chased them, they ran back to the same spot, and I just stood over them and watched them bleed to death. I threw the match to make sure they died. I was Trapper, so I actually placed traps around him, so none of his friends could come pick him up.

Of course, they called me a slugger in the endgame chat. Because them cheating with exploits was OK, but me slugging? HOW DARE I. ๐Ÿคฃ

My only reply was 'Cheaters get the slow death'.

  • It's the biggest flaw with the game; Survivors want to do gens ASAP, Killers want to kill ASAP.

Can't allow one side to play optimally while punishing the other side for the same thing.

  • Ok then. We'll end the discussion here, since you clearly seem unwilling to actually discuss and instead want to give me short, nonsensical answers that have no reasoning behind them.

This is about the lag situation the UK servers are dealing with. It's really bad, and DC penalties are still on as far as I'm aware so it's better to just get hooked and move on.

I think OP is saying please don't slug, let us just try to get out of laggy games as quick as possible.

    Video for reference:

    https://youtu.be/TQi67zPuXG0

Then OP should say that instead of screaming 'STOP BEING A TRYHARD!'

'The game is laggy, just kill Survivors and move on' is more polite than "STOP BEING A TRYHARD!'

Because that second one sounds like the same old screech of Survivors angry Killers won't 'think about OUR fun!' and demanding they 'stop using 'sweaty' perks/killers/tactics'.

Treating others as you wish to be treated. I mentioned it in another exchange but there's a reason why the Wraith was anonymous. He's an a**.

He's anonymous because Survivors tend to shovel salt on Killer profiles after a match.

After my profile would get floods of '-rep camps/tunnels/slugs/uses Killers we don't like/whatever excuse I make up' and threats; I made my profile friends only.

After I kept getting friend invites from people I beat, just so they could scream at me in PMs; I set myself anonymous.

Or maybe BHVR should count DCs in kill rates. Or maybe this is an excellent example of why statistics aren't everything.

How many comp tournaments have you won? Because the consensus is clear among comp players of all kinds: Nurse is the best Killer in the game, and you'd be laughed out of the room for suggesting it's anyone else.

DCs should NEVER count in kill rates.

Survivors don't deserve to DC AND demand a Killer get nerfed based on those rage quits.

  • Heaven forbit the Killer not ask you how they should play before the match starts.

I give people more credit for their actions than you; that's all the difference is. It's not about perks.

I think you meant to say that you give them more BLAME so you can then scream they should be banned for imagined slights and 'intentions' you can't prove.

Playing the game as if the other side is your mule is worthy of a ban. It's not about perks, it's about intention.

So now you're assuming the Killer's intention, and claiming they should be banned if whatever you assume about them is bad? ๐Ÿ˜‚

All your OP said was that he used [x] perks, and that that is worthy of a ban. Because apparently you being angry means they should not be allowed to play?

Again, Have fun with that. Don't be surprised when no one gets banned for making you angry.

  • You think using perks you don't like is 'worthy of a ban'?

    Have fun with that.

  • Eh, Corrupt Intervention being basekit indirectly nerfs Hexes, which are already massive jokes due to how weak all but 2 are, and how Boons are 10,000X better.

If every match started with blocked gens; Survivors would just totem hunt the second the match loads. As it stands, they at least need to find a gen and see if it's blocked, which wastes a little time.

  • Do you have a point? Because if you do; you are failing to make it.

Maybe try more than 3 words to get your point across? Because, right now, I have no clue if you have a point or are trying (and failing) to zing me.

  • You seem to be confused.

I'm not the one who can be told 'too bad' because I'm not the one demanding change to make me happy.

YOU want changes that tie a Killer's hands for your subjective 'fun'. And to that I say:

They've said several times they aren't adding VC, for varying reasons both good and bad imo.

But they should. Voice chat is quite literally THE REASON that SWF is the top of the food chain in DBD.

The fact that the devs are choosing to ignore that is why Killers will forever hate playing against SWF teams, and why soloQ is the worst way to play.

All they need to do is add voice chat and they can then balance Killers around it, instead of pretending it does not exist and watching DBD burn.

  • You can still report people in-game, which gives BHVR their steam ID.

And if BHVR finds that they were cheating; they will still get a ban on their steam profile.

So it seems to work fine to me.

so just cuz you want your adepts the other side has to endure the misery you put them in? no to you and your entitlement lol . useless achievements are not a reason for slugging for the 4k to stay and i imagine that that's what the rework to the basekit ub would be (denying 4k slugging which is fair.

And the one who was up at an y given time could have left, but they insisted on wanting both players to leave. I was, after all, looking for the upright Survivor. Not camping the gates or the downed Survivor.

That could be considered entitled, too.

But to Survivors; I'm the villain for wanting an achievement , and that should be taken away because 'muh fun!' ๐Ÿ™„

Killers aren't allowed to go for 'useless achievements', and are, according to you, entitled for doing so if it makes the Survivor overlords sad. ๐Ÿ˜” Never mind how entitled you are for deciding how I can or cannot play & demanding basekit perks to prevent Killers from doing so.

  • @Rudjohns said:

I need Unbreakable basekit when there are 2 survivors left

    No.

When I went for Adept Myers, I had to keep slugging, because the last 2 Survivors would alternate immersing and saving each other while I hunted.

    Basically

    • I'd down someone, I'd go hunting.
    • Other player would get them up. They'd hide while I downed other player.
    • I'd go hunting for the first guy.
    • First guy would get second guy up. Second guy would hide.
    • I'd down first guy. I'd go hunting.
    • Second guy would get first guy up. First guy would hide. I'd down second guy.

Neither of them was going for gates.

Why should I have gotten punished with free self-pickups?

I already made a good fix to troll-slugging, and got told no, so.. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  • I still remember a game where someone DC'd when I downed them while they vaulted a window.

Like, they hit DC before they finished the vault animation and hit the floor, so they were READY to DC.

End of match, that person: "Sluggers don't get 4Ks." Yes; he waited out the entire match to accuse me.

    1. I don't slug because that does not progress hooks. And leaving someone down when you know their buddy is trying to flashy-save is not slugging.
    2. This was the first time I downed them that match. They were the second person downed, and the other person was still on the hook. So no slugging happened.

Salty people will use any excuse to exonerate themselves and the actions they are going to take regardless. Like, that dude DC'd so fast, he HAD to have a hotkey or something to cut his connection.

  • The devs can't even make the zombie AI work properly (No offense, devs).

So do you think they could make a werewolf AI that could chase other Survivors without sticking on the map assets? Also; Survivors would just tell their friends that they are bit, so they would split up before the change.

This just proves the problem with hatch being bad design for both sides. It incentivizes survivors to hide and do nothing till everyone else dies, which is against the rules and can be bannable. Rework hatch entirely.

Honestly, hatch would be somewhat OK if they reworked hooks so Survivors could not kill themselves quicker.

This would sole hook-DCing and render slugging for the 4K unneeded.

But we need something like the hatch, or the 4th Survivor will just immerse for an hour, every game.

You've added basically nothing to the conversation here tho. You don't even seem to recognize that a player having to lay on the floor and bleed out for four minutes, with literally no way to end that scenario in their own, is even a problem.

Do you see this as bad, or even flawed, game design? Having a player forced to idle for four minutes with no agency to change that situation is the definition of unengaging.

Is that not the exact kind of situation that game developers should be looking to avoid and/or change? It seems like having a conversation about it, in front of the devs on their own forum, is not a bad thing here. And having ideas that aren't 'infinite unbreakable' are worth discussing constructively, since I generally think BHVR's PTB experiment was a poor solution that has awful consequences for the rest of the game.

It's part of the game. And, as I said; slugging for the 4K not be needed if hooks were reworked to deny speedy deaths. Plus the rework would prevent hook-DCing.

    Plus, it always devolves to:

    @Nos37 said:

While we're at it, can we please expedite the 3rd survivor dying to prevent the killer wasting EVERYONE's time slugging for a 4k, because they're afraid they might lose the hatch race??

Bad enough that solo q teammates will EASILY turn against you, rat out your position with the free aura reading they get while carried, in hopes of a free escape...

This. 'Let me die faster to deny the Killer points'.

It's spiteful and exists solely to flip the bird to the opponent. How DARE the Killer want a 4K and more BP! Survivor time is too important! Survivors aren't happy, so they want a mechanic exclusively to shaft the Killer!

Hence why I don't say much. Because this is the motive behind it.

  • Honestly, the censor should only catch the Big No's (Racism, sexism, and such). And it should quietly auto-report when one of those is caught.

Leave the more complicated ones (like full phrases or fancy spelling to dodge the filter) to players to report.

  • @jesterkind said:

Two of the things on your list are worthy of being discussed as problems (and a further third is categorically true, just without the strawman reasoning you tacked on), so that doesn't really help your point all that much, and it's not as though OP is asking for the killer to be unable to slug them- they just want to accept that the killer won and move on. That's hardly being salty or entitled, it's not as though they could do anything to turn the match around.

Slugging for the 4K, while obviously fine, is hardly a necessary component of killer gameplay. It's still a win for you if the last guy gets hatch. What exactly makes this topic so absurd it can't be discussed? I wouldn't view it as super necessary myself, but I hardly think it's a case of salty crying. It's not exactly fun to sit on the ground for up to four minutes knowing you've already lost, I can see why someone would want to hasten that along.

And to head it off, yes, I play killer more than I play survivor, this take isn't easy to toss out because of bias.

Some reactions are why I roll my eyes. Nothing but insults and rage screeching if Survivors THINK someone is Slugging.

More on topic: Killers would not slug for the 4K if Survivors could not hasten hook death (and changing that would ALSO remove hook-DCing). They have every right to try for a 4K, and most these ideas are 'I want to give my friend the hatch. Let me die quicker'

It seems allot of 'I need a give up button' comments also pair with 'Be happy with the 3K' (which shames Killers for 'sweating for the 4K') and, of course, impotent rage-screeching from some Survivors, who get insanely offended if Killers break any made-up rules of conduct.

  • So far, I've seen on these forums:

    1. Killer cannot slug
    2. Cannot camp
    3. Cannot tunnel
    4. Cannot use NoED or other 'crutch perks'
    5. Nurse and Blight need nerfs because 'crutch'
    6. Move the exit gates so Killers can't easily patrol them
    7. Move gens so they can't 3-gen

And now add a 'give up button' so Survivors can quit & give their friend the hatch. Because Killers don't deserve a 4K if it makes Survivors sad.

So, basically, Killers should not play the game. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

  • You can't just remove 3gens.

    So Survivors want:

    1. No more 3gens
    2. No slugging
    3. No camping
    4. No tunneling
    5. No NoED
    6. No whatever the next 'crutch' warcry will be.

So...What are Killers allowed to do, according to Survivors?

If survivor's want to be found they could just let crows build up,but there's also a possibility of crawling to the hatch before killer finds it ,rare but this does happen placing a give up timer also removes pressure for other survivors who could be working on a gen, trophy,or the game in general someone can just go down first beginning of the match and ruin it for others

ย there's also a possibility of crawling to the hatch before killer finds it

And my idea explicitly states you don't get auto-killed if you're crawling.

placing a give up timer also removes pressure for other survivors who could be working on a gen, trophy,or the game in general someone can just go down first beginning of the match and ruin it for others

And my idea explicitly states that it only activates if everyone living is slugged or hooked. IE: No one is alive and upright who can come pick them up. Because it only triggers if everyone alive is either slugged or hooked; states that make it 100% impossible to save anyone.

I'm not thinking of jflick. Turning 180 with demondash is the "oni flick", Bhvr tried to put in a turning hard cap for turning on oni but players found a way to get around it, aka exploiting.

Also DH is a parry. Parrying is as easy or hard as the other player makes it to be. If you're finding that you get DH'd all the time i got some bad news.

So you just assumed OP used an exploit, and decided to moral high ground them?

But only 1 survivor doing gens?

This can easily be fixed by not stopping the timer if another survivor is nearby

You missed the point where Survivors would stay out of 'nearby' range.

You are still ignoring everything I said to oversimplify the result and ignore the actual fallout.

It was supposed to discourage camping. NOT give Survivors a free unhook whenever they wanted.

But why the killer is not chasing one of the survivor down?

It started to sound like the killer is indeed camping in this situation

So how an anticamping mechanic is not gonna work against camping?

Except the Killer is not camping if he KNOWS two survivors are by the hook.

Why should he be FORCED to leave, in that scenario? The Survivors don't deserve unhooks just because they really want them. They came to HIM, and he deserves to defend his hook if he knows Survivors are nearby.

But this mechanic allows Survivors to stand out in the open and the Killer could not protect his hook, because the sacrifice timer would stop dead since he was not in a chase.

Thus, it was abused in a way it was not intended. Because it was never intended to prevent the killer from defending his kills.

Sorry, I have a hard time understanding this

The abuse is that the killer cannot leave the hooked survivor area?

    I am so confused

I may not be saying it well but the abuse was that Survivors would basically force it to happen for free unhooks.

It stopped being a mechanic to discourage hook camping and turned into a mechanic by which Survivors could, 100% of the time, get safe unhooks. And since the Killer is SUPPOSED to be the power role, this did not mesh with that concept.

Survivors were basically mooning the Killer and twerking and knew the only 2 outcomes were 'Infinite hook time for our friend to solo gens' or 'Free unhook'. Thus, it was abused past what it was meant to do.

You keep boiling it down to 'Killer had to leave', which loses all nuance and over-simplifies it to the desired goal.

oni flick is literally an exploit bhvr tried and failed to fix.

Never heard of it being an exploit. Any source?

If you're exploit abusing then you deserve the DH.

Nowhere did he say he was abusing an exploit, but Survivors always need to invent moral high ground, I guess. ๐Ÿ˜‚
