The game isn't over until all 4 survivors are either dead or have escaped. This was not the case here.
It's pretty much over if there is one gen left and only one survivor has been hooked so far.

What else was left for them to do if survivors were getting to the endgame anyway?
Play until the game ends. It really is that simple.
They don't need to watch the survivors teabag. There are other things to do. Like trying to catch someone before they make it out, defending the last gen, just chasing and hooking survivors to the best of their ability or even walk across the map and kick pallets / gens / breakable walls.
But the game IS over in that case. And I've seen enough games to know that survivors don't stop at just crouching at the gates — they would spam noise notifications ceaselessly to get the killer's attention or run loops around them to mock them into chasing them till exit. If they completed all but one gen, it's not likely the killer would be able to defend the last gen. So they just wanted this bad game to be over. All survivors have to do is finish the gens and go next

They went afk, which is against the rules. It's even listed as a reason for a report. If that's not enough to warrant a penalty, then I don't know what is.
They didn't disconnect or leave the game. What else was left for them to do if survivors were getting to the endgame anyway? Watch them taunt them at the exit gate? If the Killer got blinded, stunned, and trolled into oblivion I don't blame them

What else they were to do? Survivors were finishing the game anyways, why watch them taunt them at the exit gate? They didn't disconnect, they just decided not to get subjected to the unnecessary abuse.

@Xernoton said:
It sucks, that this happened but at that point the game was about to be over anyway it seems.
So if the killer went afk at 1 gen remaining, that's pretty similar to a survivor that kills themself when the gens are done. At that point, they won't change the results of the match anymore so it's only their attitude that is a problem but less the implications.
They still deserve a penalty.
Penalty for what?

Streaming was a mistake.

I'd hate streamers a lot less if they didn't put the link to their twitch channel in the post-game chat after winning. No, I'm not going to stroke your ego any further by becoming your viewer, you pathetic little narcissist.

If someone is locker jockeying and waiting for their teammate to die in an attempt to get hatch, I see no problem with said abandoned survivor leading a chase to where said person is hiding. Thats just as much self preservation as what the locker addict is doing, and no more or less of a betrayal. To say otherwise would be to admit that leaving teammates to die is griefing as well.
If there are two players left in the game, I'd prefer that at least one of us gets away. This is why I get incredibly pissed off when a remaining survivor runs over to me when it's painfully obvious that I was slugged as bait or rushes to my hook instead of looking for a hatch because it ends with the last survivor hooked and incredible levels of smug in the game chat from the killer who now thinks he is the Hannibal Lecter level of genius.
Also, survivors have no way of knowing about other survivors' contributions throughout the trial. One game I literally spent an entire game healing other survivors, distracting them from the killer, and generally looking out for the rest and Nea pointed me out to the killer (I hid when he downed her because she was on her last hook and I couldn't really help her, just avoid getting seen through BBQ&Chili) and then proceeded to say that I wasn't contributing to gen fixing and I deserved to be griefed. That was one of the reasons why I dropped being altruistic and don't have any problems if my other teammate is waiting till I get sacrificed to get the hatch.

@lauraa said:
Yes it is reportable to team like that
Selling out a useless locker hopper is one thing but active manipulation like that will get you in trouble pretty fast
It's pretty much the same thing. Both are griefing.
-
I get it when the Killer slugs a survivor who tries to bodyblock them when they're carrying another survivor to a hook. It's a logical thing to do and Starstruck is here to punish careless and overly confident survivors who try to swarm the Killer and make them drop a downed player.
However, when the Killer just dedicates the entire trial to pursuing and slugging survivors one by one, there is a 99% they are BMing ape, who, in fact, wants to prolong the game, making it as much of a pain in the arse for survivors as they can, for no other reason than being a BMing ape.
-
Sluggers deserve all the mockery in the world.
-
You just had to rub into them instead of simply leaving? Is your ego this small?

For me that is no sportsmanship and is really childish. You screw your team.
Even if you lose you can at least try.
Some games start really ######### and you manage to win anyways - and that are usually great satisfying moments.
Also i think you will never get better if you not try to improve or maybe only learn one trick this killer is doing right.
This is a game, not a sports competition. Some people don't grind away hours and hours to master looping, which won't get them anywhere in their real life. They want to complete an archive challenge or score a win and stop at that. If they're stuck in a trial where neither of these objectives is happening, there is no point in wasting their time.

Clairvoyance is also a good alternative to Left Behind. It has a farther reach, so you can find the hatch faster. Also, it and reminds you to cleanse totems.

This is already the case. Note how many discussions have qualifiers of 'high MMR' status to bolster their own argument or dismiss another.
Also, higher rank survivors already act all condescending to players with a lower rank in a post-game chat, up to the point I've seen comments like "why does this lower rank trash exist" or keep calling low ranks "dogs". So, yes, people don't deserve to flash their MMR until they learn to behave.

Trickster. Use a chair as a shield from his knives, knee him in the groin before he switches to the bat, tase him and then use his own bat to beat the living crap out of him. Then tase his ass again for a good measure.
Legion. Wear my backpack in front of me to protect myself from knives, use a taser and a flammable hairspray to set them on fire. Either use the ruckus to go for the gun safe and delete them or knock out one of the girls with a taser and use her as a meatshield and proceed to the gun safe. Or go to Valhalla trying to pull it all off.
Amanda. Use a makeshift flamethrower to make sure she is too disoriented to stab or inject me or make her remove her mask, smack her on the head with a vase, use a mace spray on her while she is unconscious to make sure she won't be in the rate state to try and escape while waiting for the police.

None of that is something my teammates would see.....unless you are being useless following the chase. I t-bag at gates so wouldn't matter.
I don't care how good my teammate is at the game. If they act toxic, BM and T-bag, I don't assist them during the trial or dodge them at the lobby. Simple as that.
-
@chargernick85 said:
I understand why so many get bent over T-bagging, slugged for 4 min, pointed at pallets, smacked on hook, etc and I used to never do it. I also used to smack once on hook if they gave me a good chase but no one understood anyway so I stopped. Since no matter how I play gets the same salt as if I played toxic I give everyone a reason to be salty.
I t-bag killers....flashlight at every pallet, run blast mine with flashbang to toy with killers, pretty much anything to get under their skin. I also shake my head every time I bait your DH (also known as the perk that makes you think you are better than you are), if game is over (everyone left on hook) I take turns hitting them. Last night I dumped my entire load (LOL yikes) of knives into the last survivor I hooked. I rolled a team on Haddonfield with Clown and told them to tell their friends about it.....exact message "Tell your friends you got rolled by clown on Haddonfield..GG EZ".
I find this fun......So should you. Embrace the salt.
Sounds exactly like the person I would leave at the killer's mercy and refuse to heal.
-
I don't teabag and personally stab anyone who does it with failed Heal checks, but killers get mad at literally everything. Stealth playing, Deception users, Dead Hard users, key users, map users, toolbox users - they don't look far to find a good reason for BMing a survivor.
-
And *this* is why I never play altruistic as a survivor nowadays.
-
Just don't type "gg wp" in the game chat. Take your win and move on in silence.
The chat feature should be disabled altogether. If people want to connect, there are friend requests.
-
Every perk that causes discomfort will be called OP. A good survivor must instantly walk up to the killer and let him slug them, hit them, hook them and nod in their face until the trial's end.
-
The first thing to remember when you enter any competitive game - your alleged teammates aren't your friends. They're your enemies who would lay blame on you for every mistake they make.
You'll never be good enough for those people, because they are hellbent on making you the scapegoat. So, don't treat them like your buddies, treat them like they deserve to be treated. Don't attack first, but if they start accusing you, bite back, tell them to zip it, and remind them that you don't owe them crap. Also, look out for yourself first and foremost during the trial - there is nothing more disappointing than spending your time and risking your escape for someone who will berate you in the endgame chat.
-
I'd prefer Dandelion over Geralt as a survivor. Seeing him downed and being carried to the hook isn't as embarrassing as seeing Geralt being reduced to a helpless victim.

Again, Korean fashion. Just because something isn't covered in gore doesn't mean it isn't horrifying- a killer hiding in plain sight is hardly a comforting thought.
The thing is, he would be a good character for a psychological thriller. But in a game where the plot is literally about people being chased by a horror movie character who looks as unnatural, imposing and threatening as possible? It just doesn't work. It's like adding Patrick Bateman from the "American Psycho" into the game and expecting him to be as scary as Blight or Myers.

Trickster = Korean, based off of the Pop Music industry and their style of fashion
Anime = Japanese animation
At least try to be close in your ignorance.
I don't call him anime because of his nationality, I call him anime because of the vibe of his entire design and because of the intro that makes him look like a generic edgy villain, not a scary guy.
If he was American, Russian, Portuguese, British, Filipino and kept that flashy pop-singer look and was introduced in the same animation style, I'd still call him anime because I'll never not find this concept ridiculous for the DbD setting.

This is a discussion, no need for bigotry.
Ok, then what about:
If they would be good players they wouldn't feel the need to tunnel or camp.
This poster Insulting Killers for using a valid tactic.
Sorry not sorry, but I will never not shame sluggers. In 99% this tactic is used for pure BM, not because the player is actually trying.
Once again; a poster openly saying they will shame Killers for using a valid tactic.
I think people are taking it too seriously, and getting insulted easily, especially the ones that support camping and tunneling as a tactic
You, once again attacking people for using a valid tactic.
Camping IS sweaty, it's already been identified by the dbd community as toxic and a cheap way to play
You, once again, insulting Killers. And no; the entire community has not decided camping is toxic. This is you talking out the side of your mouth again.
So you sit here and act like you have the moral high ground every time someone calls out the BS swimming in this thread. While you also sit here and insult and shame Killers for USING A VALID TACTIC.
That's the BS mindset that salty Survivors use to attack, insult, and send death threats at Killers in game. They rationalize 'They camped! So they DESERVE my vitriol!'
You want to have a discussion? Stop being a part of the problem. Then, you can have a discussion.
All you're looking for is an echo-chamber for your biased opinion on camping, then talking out the side of your mouth to pretend you're 'having a discussion' when all you're doing is getting an echo chamber of 'Camping is sweaty!'
I hate two-faced people. Hypocrisy makes me sick.
So either 'have a discussion', which means STOP INSULTING KILLERS FOR A VALID TACTIC.
Or just admit you were looking for an echo chamber for your already admitted view on camping.
Because I'm sick of watching Survivors vomit weak excuses to allow themselves to insult me in-game, just because I did not play by their stupid, made-up rules.
I never said anything about tunnelers or campers because I don't consider their approach bad or BMing. I only have beef sluggers - because whenever I encounter those, they clearly play to waste people's time, not to win.

It makes people play egoistic, or give up fast at first difficulty of match, playing passive doing nothing, hide and let people dyng on hook. Change or remove this mechanich will help solo players improve, facing the wall of getting better or lose, remove this drug of:"ok we cannot win, make me hide, let them die, I escape with hatch". They now is not a win, but they will not admit that. It will make players enjong more playing that be addicted to win. Mamy times I had the luck of fondo good teammates, and we win even in disperate situations. Sometimes you find the noob or the bored good player, that give up because bad, egoist, or bored to play.
- have a match where you are the only one doing gens while survivors get downed because they wanted to farm points instead of doing objectives
- all 3 survivors end up hooked, while there are 2 gens left
- no way in hell of getting them fixed because killer gets to roam the map freely
- you don't get to escape because some 3 stooges you have no control over didn't touch a gen for an entire game
- "u got caught becuz u didn't try hard enuff git better"

@AngyKiller said:
if it wasn't then why do so many people dc or kill themselves on hook when they're being camped?
Because they are babies who can't stand losing, and don't want to accept their own toxic behavior, so they blame the Killer for 'cheap killer/perks/tactics'.
And it works in reverse, too; Killers can DC and blame Survivors, when the real fault is their own garbage attitude.
Camping, tunneling, slugging. Using items, add-ons, or tactics are all ALLOWED.
Calling any 'sweaty' or 'tryhard' is a BS attempt to shame the opponent for trying to win. And it creates a toxic mindset that absolves people of their own garbage actions. IE: 'I only disconnected because the Killer/Survivor was being toxic FIRST!'
Reality: No, they were not. They were trying to win. My hypothetical person here needs to suck it TF up and not DC.
People will use ANY excuse to shift the blame. And calling an ACCEPTED TACTIC 'sweaty' or 'tryhard' fosters an atmosphere of blame-shifting and toxicity, where players will DC, then blame everyone else for their own, truly toxic, actions.
For example, in another thread, someone recently said '99% of all Survivor DCs are against campers and tunnelers'. This was shifting the blame from Survivors DCing to Killers 'playing toxic' and FORCING them to pull their router plug.
People who think like that will ALWAYS DC, because they will ALWAYS blame everyone else for their own garbage actions.
So please; stop with this '<x> tactic/perk/Killer is sweaty' BS. All it does it shame people for trying to win and increase the toxic attitudes this player base is known for everywhere else.
Sorry not sorry, but I will never not shame sluggers. In 99% this tactic is used for pure BM, not because the player is actually trying.

What I'm saying is that if 1 mask is racist, then all masks are racist. You can't say "this skin colors" mask is racist and not say "other skin color masks" aren't racist. You are basically saying that it's ok discriminate against the races you aren't removing. Especially the female Leatherface, you can't tell me that isn't disrespectful to the LGBT community if the "smart face" is disrespectful to it's community.
You can't play "thought police", Behavior.
If I read it correctly, they do remove ALL masks, not just Smartface. But it won't do any good if the report system remains in its current state. The a-holes who were going out of their way to find and aggravate players are still in the game or made a new account by now and can come back to stream snipe and harass the same part of the player base. So, as long as there is no IP ban, they will keep abusing the existing cosmetics and mechanics to bully people.
-
Maybe, just maaaybe if BHVR worked on a system that would let them put an IP ban on hackers, that would've also solved the problem with players who are inappropriate with Bubba masks.
No, masks are clearly the problem.

Yes, you understand now. With enough restrictions we are back to the original timer, as it should be, because the game cannot decipher intent.
I didn't forget it. It's just not a valid option worth considering. It's a frivolous piece if code so that you can imaginarily slight the killers ego. BHVR needs to focus on real issues. Not blood point taxes and afk notifications because the killer didn't play the way you wanted them to play.
Griefing and BMing is not "playing as someone didn't want them to play". It's player intentionally being a piece of human garbage. I simply understand why people are not happy with letting such players wipe their feet of them because the gameplay doesn't offer any other alternative. Asking for punishment is not possible. Implementing measures to disengage from the bully is possible.

What you're saying is you believe that the survivor should be able to suicide based on some arbitrary delay. What I'm saying is I want the remainder of their slug timer/EGC to make a genuine effort to find them. Why do I lose that time because someone else was griefing you? On any other thread people would be telling you to suck it up and they'd never think twice to look at your response. I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt.
Suck it up? Something a bully would say, so I'd instantly realize they weren't worth talking to in the first place.
With enough time restrictions regarding the activation of the button, the killer won't lose any time necessary to find a downed survivor. While, yes, a survivor gets something to do with griefers who intentionally drag the game. You also keep forgetting that I mention the AFK option if a suicide button scares killers so much.

Again, when there is one survivor left who has used his 30 seconds on the ground to elude the killer, how does the system determine that the killer is genuinely looking for this survivor or not? I am not the only person who has brought up this scenario, I don't even think I'm the first person to do it on this thread. Every way you've defined it, that elusive survivor gets to circumvent the EGC, suicide, and deny the killer the remaining slug timer to hook them.
I'm not sure who hurt you that you are so honed in on ending slugging BM, but I hope you are as sympathetic to the killers that get railroaded every game by Seal Team 6 SWF Squads. Which, by my reckoning, is as rare as the Bubba footstomping you outlined earlier.
- If the button timer is delayed for every survivor hooked + the downed survivor can't crawl and press the F button simultaneously + slow progress bar + (hopefully) BHVR doing something about the noise bug, the killer has enough time to find them and hook them too.
- It's funny how refusing to simply swallow the BM and become someone's doormat instantly leads to those "who hurt you" talks)) I'm a solo survivor and a pretty damn selfish one thanks to SWF squads. So they don't get any love and support from me in trials, and if they teabag and grief or try to give me directions, I ignore them, do my objectives and hope to leave the trial. A BMer is a BMer, survivor, or killer.

You are completely disregarding killers losing track of downed survivors, which absolutely happens, in favor of edge cases. They can lose track of them when other survivors are still alive, and they can lose track of them when its the last two and the non-slugged just went on the hook and they don't have BBQ. You are underestimating how easy it is to lose a survivor that had thirty seconds on the ground and does not want to be found. With the EGC interference, generator noise, ambient noises, it happens frequently and again, you have provided no reasonable means in which to track the killers intent.
I don't know why you're so hellbent on communicating to the killer your AFK. They don't care.
There's nothing more to unpack here.
- Let's see about tracking intent. If none of all remaining survivors is hooked in a certain period of time, the option to suicide appears. After the killer hooks a survivor, he delays the timer. So, a normal killer has enough time to find and hook all downed survivors, while survivors get to end the game sooner when dealing with a BMing chimpanzee.
- Oh, but they do care. Why else would they follow a downed survivor, nodding and mocking, staring them down until they bleed out? They want an audience and they know that the survivors have just to endure it. So, I can see why it pisses people off. I'm against creating a punishment for killers because normal players would get hurt, but I am all for an option to at least show the killer that the player is inactive and it's their digital husk they're dancing to.

- Okay. Tracking intent. Make the button pop up if all remaining survivors are down and *none* of them is hooked for a minute. Hooking a survivor rolls back the timer necessary for the suicide option to appear. So, a normal killer has enough time to find and hook all downed survivors, while slugged survivors have the option to go out if their killer is the BMing monkey.
- Oh, they do care. They wouldn't be going out of their way to slug people and then following them, nodding and mocking, if they didn't. They know that the players have to watch - and this is what pisses people off enough to start looking for some sort of payback. I know that there is no way to punish that behavior with BPs or any other way - it's impossible to implement and any attempts would backfire on normal players. Giving survivors some initiative by at least showing the killer that he is stuck here all alone and nobody is going to watch him is satisfying.

- No, they don't. There's a well documented bug that causes them to make no sound which I've personally observed into the double-digits, and they stop leaving puddles once they stop moving in long, straight lines. It does happen. Especially if you're playing against uppity survivors and you have to slug a lot to make the game manageable
- You're highlighting an edge case, how does the game know the killer is ignoring the survivor versus they just lost them because of another chase? You're making it convenient for a system that would be anything but, and you also need to keep in mind that the devs have already shown us that they struggle with the programming of their own game. Bugs, like the one I mentioned earlier, and others have been around forever
- I answered your original point, denying bully satisfaction. I promise you, the bullys will still be satisfied
- Never encountered this bug in my runs. It's not the intended part of the game and the killers are *supposed* to be able to find downed survivors. That's on BHVR.
- The option to suicide can be not instant - for example, done with pressing and holding a button for some time (something akin to "recover" when downed, but with slower bar progress). So, if the killer deliberately wastes the time necessary for the option to appear and then lollygags some more, the survivor gets to end it because it was obvious that the killer had no intention of hooking them in the first place. If the killer leaves a downed survivor for a chase, that survivor is usually picked up by others. If the last standing survivor is the only one that remains, the killer can down them, hook them, and will have enough time to come back for the previously downed one. If it's too hard for BHVR to design at their current state, at least the "I'm AFK, you joyless POS" notification would be nice.
- OK, I get it the only way bullies don't get satisfied is when they're electrocuted on the spot or get clocked right in the head instantly after pulling their crap in the game. However, they get to enjoy themselves even more and for a much longer time if they know that the player is stuck with them and can do nothing except endure. So the players aren't obliged to contribute to their wank fest.
-
Maybe it's worth trying to mass report him on Steam until it locks him out of *all* accounts tied to his email and phone number (if there are any games he actually paid for, that would be a shame) or puts a trade ban on all his accounts?
I know that Steam is far from perfect when it comes to penalizing hackers and spammers, but I don't think we'll get any response from BHVR, so pestering Steam to take more serious measures is pretty much the only thing to do.
Another way to deal with him (and any other hackers whose nickname you remember) is to literally ostracize them in the game. See a hacker join your lobby? Warn other players in chat, tell them to get away from that POS, and leave the lobby. It won't do much, because not all players will heed the warning and leave, and even if they will, the hacker will find a lobby with clueless folk in the end...but at least you refuse to participate in their BS and do your part in informing people.

But these suggestions punish all killers. A slugged survivor could hide, wait for some time for the suicide button to activate it and then deny the killer his hook.
How do you measure the intent of the killer who leaves someone slugged for any period of time, especially when the survivors have contrarian intents? You can't.
Also, a notification that I made a survivor literally disengage and afk from the game would provide me, a bully, with plenty of satisfaction.
- I'm yet to see a survivor who managed to successfully crawl in the corner hide from a killer for the entire 4 minutes. They leave puddles of blood and keep making noises even with Iron Will, they get found and picked up eventually.
- It's pretty easy to measure the intent of the killer. For example, when it's Undetectable Bubba who hooks one survivor, downs anyone who tries to unhook them, then goes for those who remain and spends the rest of the game walking after crawling survivors, pretending to stomp on them. It's very easy to measure.
- As if survivors staying in the game and enduring won't get the bully's microscopic weenie all wet. In the AFK scenario, survivors aren't forced to be bully's doormats for the rest of the trial.

Yes, because you can't make every mechanic in the game heavily punish one side when it crops up. Bleeding out is a necessary mechanic to make the game end when it's being stalled out by either side and unrewarding for the winner. And, as a consequence, the majority of Killers will hook someone because they don't want to wait around either and want the points. It's working as intended.
Asking for more won't hurt the people doing it by spite (they don't care already) unless it's something excessive like bans, and you know who gets hurt then? The people using it as intended and random players once hackers start forcing themselves into infinite slug situations.
So yes, eating the five minutes of nothing is actually the best outcome. We all have to do it occasionally on either side.

Considering most people who will slug everyone and wait out the timer do not care about any punishment this means the only chance of punishment will be towards innocent people and will only be to make you feel better over something unintentional. Punishments to serve your ego don't work, they tend to backfire.
This has been said by multiple people in this thread but is the point that is ignored the hardest it seems. All any punishment will do is make it easier for jerk survivors to mess with killer players. That's all.
I'm not talking about punishing the killer. I'm talking about the way for survivors to just make it end without giving the bully the satisfaction - for example, getting an option to press the suicide button after some time of being downed or at least make some notification to let the douchebag know that the player is AFK and not here to participate in his masturbation session. I've never complained about camping or tunneling here or in the post-game chat. I don't teabag killers at the gate or even carry flashlights. But when it comes to slugging, I'd rather read a book or watch a video while waiting for my DC penalty to run out rather than stay in the game to entertain some pathetic sack of slime behind the keyboard.

1) Bubba. I'm pretty sure that people who main Bubba are creepy basement dwellers that collect their toenail clippings in a jar.
2) Trickster. His perverted giggling is annoying AF and I'll never give him any respect.
3) Legion, because *edgy prepubescent huffing noises*
4) Pig. Hate her headtrap mechanic and her pretentious Jiggsaw-senpai.

Zero. There's a timer. If you're slugged for the whole timer, do like I do: start reading a new chapter in your book/watch a stream.
So, just be a good little victim and accept what is done to you?
