  • Well it's very hard to explain without visuals...

Runiver did explain a lot, but from what I've seen he also plays kinda as a defensive Hag (strong in the endgame) which is a playstyle I never managed to do, so it's not like you have to be defensive to have great results - although it might be the more intuitive playstyles for a lot of new Hag players.

My playstyle is kinda different. I don't like to stick into one area... I play her the Nurse way - I pressure the whole team with my traps (I know for a fact when they will be triggered, because I was a huge survivor main before, I know all the pathways and behaviours), I use my traps to track during chases (not outside of chases like a lot of newbies do) to know where the survivor is running (non triggered traps = they did not go that way) in jungle gyms and such, I also exploit the huge trigger area of my traps to block paths or to catch up.

But we all have different playstyles. Evil Cynthia traps very close to pallets for examples, he exploits mostly the "camera spin" mechanic.

Eventually you can ask Michi to give you a lesson, he was my first (and best) teacher so far.

I'll link you several gameplay from different great Hags around the web, to give you an idea of several playstyles.

buff movement speed to 115% of survivors running
    set trap 30% faster
activated trap interaction speed increase by 50%

115% speed will change none of her issues and a lot of people will play her the lazy way. It's like giving 115% speed to Nurse. You can, but bad Nurse will still /// yet good Nurse will have even less counters.

I don't know what "30% faster" means in actual numbers. Give her a brown Necklet in her base kit to start with, and she will be amazing.

I don't understand what do you mean with the last suggestion. If it's to stop her "no-lunge" stun after teleport - a huge YES for this.

  • Purple key, solved. It makes the hatch a situational way to escape, which I prefer. Makes more sense than the casual "hey, the killer recked us, but I can still escape with the hatch!". Also it makes keys more valuable since they have more uses than ever.

  • It's... dope. That's all that matters! :chuffed:

Hag is in desperate need of normal killer movement speed

She is not, the devs mentioned they tried to increase her speed within the office testing, and it would be too powerful, and I agree, I can imagine how strong she would be if she had the mobility of the strong killers and the power of teleportation traps at the same time
her movement speed is so that she can quickly make her way around to place traps, not to chase survivors around like a simple dofus, she's a strategist, not an offensive killer
I'd like to call it "Passive Aggressive", walk on her traps, and you die, leave her traps alone, and you won't get out

Nurse would still be more powerfull than hag at normal movement speed, but thats only my opinion

She is, but Nurse isn't perfect either. She is very weak to stealth - while Hag is not, because of her tiny size and terror radius -, and a well prepared Hag can also potentially be stronger during chases since some traps have simply no counter at all.

What Hag lacks is a way to patrol faster and to pressure gens while nobody is moving on the map, and she is weak against genrush (if you don't manage to invert the outcome of the game at one point and snowball, you lose), every mistake on your side may cost you the whole game. But hey, every killers need weaknesses!

I mean if you gonna camp some1 with the hag that's death sentence for them even now because survivor view will get interrupted if they activate a trap . but in fact the time that you play as hag normally and you don't even proxy camp survivors can legit unhook their friends while crouching and if the unhooked person holds the crouch button as well they can get away without activating a trap so at least if they could make it somehow so actions like unhooking , repairing , destroying totems causes the traps to pop up it would be really good and survivors wouldn't dare f@$# with her .

This would be WAY too strong. And it's coming from a Hag main. One trap already slows down a lot the rescues (= 2 survivors away from a gen, at least), and the Hag could be closer than they think and have enough time to come back to the hook (thanks to Monitor & Abuse).

Survivors should still have counters to a strong power. Especially when we talk about camping which is a playstyle devs don't want to incensitive too much.

She needs a rework, but not in her defensive playstyle which is already way too strong sometimes.

If you want advise from a rank 1 killer don't use it . it's not worth the use with so many great perks out there . and if you badly wanna disable big loops like jungle gyms just wait till new killer comes out and pick bamboozle .

I'm a red rank killer ^^ I have no issue with looping, it was more to use it as a fun alternative way for mindgames! I hate the meta, these are the most unfun perks to play IMO and now I try to achieve new playstyles and strategies that I can enjoy. I just wanted to know if the new fade-out Insidious can actually be decent enough to have a use during chases, and how to use it properly ^^

  • You basically propose to make the hatch even more killer-sided...

It's fine as it is now. Survivor can bring a key in the trial or just gives up.

If a survivor holds the game hostage, it's not an issue about the mechanics, since it's directly bannable. So no need for a timer - record and report.

  • Didn't read all the answers, but people that buy DLC with real money will already have an exclusive cosmetic. Check the Dwight's one for Leatherface DLC.

I would love to see a really detailed hag guide, after the clown dissapointment I think I will give her a try when the vacuum is removed

Croquedead is currently making one, and I believe Space Coconut is making a youtube tutorial but it will take some time. As for now you can still join our discord, Croquedead especially makes often lessons but you can still ask for help, the community is pretty active.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think that the hag will be my next unlock, it was going to be the doctor but hearing if she's played correctly the hag is high teir has me thinking that maybe she's the better choice, especially as this week's shrine got me the perk I wanted from the doctor (overcharge).

Playing a couple more games with the nurse I'm finding that I do fantastic in every category except for sacrificing. I guess I'm so bad with her that people love to taunt me, I'll have entire teams up close to me trolling the living daylight out of me while their team mate hangs on the hook dying and I desperately try to keep it that way, leaving me with 1 kill each round but 24k BP in the other three categories because I keep getting hits, losing them, chases auto pop because they come to me and generally they'll even tease me around a generator until I can down one of them. It's frustrating, but everyone's pretty happy at the end of the game, even me considering I generally come out with 30k blood points plus whatever bonus I have on and not even coming close to pipping.

Doc is strong as well, just not an "ambush" killer as you asked.
If you ever need advices to Hag, feel free to come by ^^

Don't worry about Nurse, she is designed to be hard to play! Don't forget that you're not forced to play a specific killer, just stick with the one most intuitive for you ^^

  • @MrChills said:
Many of us killers have begged for this yet we're always down voted, told to git gud or the devs simply saying "we're afraid to" they dont want to upset their little babies.

There's already the "limited use" Self Care though. It's Pharmacy. But I like the suggestion to make Self Care slower and slower everytime you heal to full.

  • @NeoGriim said:
I like the tactics behind the hag. I'd like the trapper himself if he didn't have to gather his traps, I know she's low tier but having an ambush during a chase is a pretty cool concept.

She's high tier though, but you'll struggle for several months before getting good with her, like Runiver said. I just suggested her because she's the only high tier killer that is also an ambush one, and you seemed to care a lot about ranking up.

  • @RagingCalm said:
Go with Pig. I am a Pig main and can say it is pretty fun once you master her. The skill cap is much higher than you would think. One tip, though - don't crouch around the map. Only do that in low ranks. It is way too slow, and with the "get gens, get out" mentality of the very high ranks you simply cannot afford to be that slow.
Also, do NOT go with Hag. I do not know why Soren suggested that, they seem like a pretty nice person from their other posts. The only reason to level Hag is to get Hex: Ruin.
The suggestion of Myers is good though. His skill cap is probably the lowest of all Killers, but is good if you have decent add-ons for him.

Well they wanted an ambush killer that also destroys at high ranks fairly well... Otherwise I would suggest Myers / Pig because they can pull great moves yet still be rather easy to have a first grasp (although I agree that skillcap to master Pig is quite high), but you can't have everything you know... Usually I never suggest Hag to start with, lol, she is very very long to learn.

  • At least Huntress Lullaby, which should be an insidious threat that is very subtle.

  • Myers is considered as the king of jumpscares, but if you want a really powerful killer as well, I may suggest you Hag. With Monitor & Abuse, she is a mix between Nurse and Myers. Although she's harder to master than Nurse, it's not a matter of muscle memory if you struggle with that. But beware, you have to be really tactical with her.

  • Your buff is kinda OP to be honest. If it really "needs" to be buffed, it can the exposed status for all the survivors who are far away from you (not only the unhooker), but this perk is already good enough for its purpose.

  • Well Thanatophobia doesn't need a rework, just a HUGE buff so that it really rewards you for spreading the pain.

  • @Kiores said:
Annnd, if you use enduring and brutal strength on Hag, it's wrong, as she's not meant to chase

She's not meant to chase like casual killers, that doesn't mean she can't chase. You don't only patrol gens with Nurse, don't you? She's very strong at being offensive.

in The Hag Comment by Soren
  • We're talking about fun right? Why should we blame you for the Nurse? Her gameplay is quite boring IMO. Slow speed or face the ground... xp

    Anyways, back to the thread!

    1. Hag. For the tactical mechanics, and because the feel of achievement is real!
    2. Pig. My anti-stress killer. If you're really angry after a rough game, put NOED, profit.
    3. Myers for the true horror feel!

I need to find two more >.> I loved Doctor and Freddy a while ago but now I feel akward when I play them...

The discussion I just had today about STBFL with Horvath[BHVR] if someone is interested.
They are considering this as a possible rework atm.

Why does this perk need to have a token mechanic? Why couldn't it be a flat reduction? It would be a good chase perk, we need more than just the good ol' Enduring.

A ton of killer perks have too much conditions / are too much complex, while survivor's ones are straightforward.

Just take a look at the survivor meta:
    - I can heal myself from injured to healthy
    - I can sprint for a couple of seconds
    - I can restart a chase
    - I can heal myself from downed to injured
    - I can crouch faster

... and so on. Killers need more straight up "buff" perks. It's because they have too much conditions a lot of them aren't taken - the conditions make them situational or hard to use well.
  • @MaxiferPriest said:

i said SLOWER and she feels slow if u play any killer before her ;)

I don't feel slow when I can teleport here and there lol. Same way that on paper Nurse is slower, but in practice she's not if you use her M2 power ^^ That was my point, her traps are great to keep a pressure really fast.

  • @Kiores said:
Sure, extra 4-8 meter teleport distance would be nice, except that the current range is almost too much already...

32m is quite low though, 40m (Dead Fly Mud) seems already way more balanced for a killer which is supposed to be the queen of map control.

    "Slow"

  • Oh didn't know it was you guys who made it! I was wondering why using a DbD music and not a "fun" music like in traditional montages lol.

So this is what we'll have instead of the "Fanarts from the community" from then on? I love it!

    "Queen, fix the bugs!!!"

  • We have a whole discord dedicated to her character and we discuss often about her cube and how Scarred Hand is crap. We all have different ideas, yet we're according on the fact that as the queen of map control, she SHOULD have a way higher teleport distance by default, and that her traps mechanics should be buffed during chase (camera lock, no-lunge duration, cooldown...).

in The Hag Comment by Soren
  • Asides from Pig. Pig is great at map control / management, but Clown can be a real beast in chase if he throws bottles in tactical areas. Some people underestimate the slowdown, it's really often a free hit if you run into. Probably even better than Huntress, who is quite overrated IMO.

  • I know the feel. I don't run Ruin anymore since it's the most boring perk ever for the survivor side. No NOED either - feels unfair. One anti-camp perk (Make your Choice) and yet they call me a "camper" even if I follow the teabagging bait that SB to an area where's there is literally nothing, just to pallet loops and teabags more. Not even talking about the casual DS + Adrenaline + SwF combo.

Playing fair in 2018 is probably the worst mistake I make in this game.

I need the very rare Doctor skin. Hopefully when the update is released to the public we still get Auric Cells from the start.

If they do give an amount of Auric Cells to everyone for free it certainly won't be anywhere near as much as the PTB gives you because that's $35 worth.

I thought that maybe we will have Auric Cells as a reward for the next anniversary event (challenge). That, or "clown" maps for other realms like Swamp or Mother's Dwelling, as it is implied with the new killer's lore.

  • A lot of recolors are kinda silly, but the new cosmetics for the most part are freaking beautiful!

I love the fun of Pharmacy as well :3

  • Okay I did post my request ^.^

  • Since I don't run Ruin anymore (boring perk, too much counters and gets cleansed very often under 1 minute), I will probably use it. I have no issue with my chases but my gen pressure is pretty low since most of my time I either trap or chase. With this perk, I will be able to bring back some pressure on gens. Although I find it sad that it has a timer... Kinda forces you to rush towards a gen which I don't like.

I mean he's not wrong technically.

The killer should be interacting with the survivors and vice-versa.

The killer should, but if they don't (bad killers, or someone pallet loop them the whole game), you end up with a safety pip / depip even if you recked them.

It also works the other way around. I completely recked some team (4k before a single gen is done) and yet I only pip because my games were so short I couldn't get good chaser / devious emblems.

    I disagree.
If someone else is looping him for the whole game, you earn way enough time to get gold at repairs.
With gold in repairs (and supposedly Iri at survival since you don't get downed and can escape), you're already about to pip and just need to keep your base benevolent point, and earn bronze chaser (which can be easily earned just by being in a chase for a very few seconds, at the exit gates for example)

Not sure how can even depip in these conditions.

Taken from the Depip Squad's stats. I don't play DbD that much since Emblems came out, and when I do I barely touch survivor. However I did remember several times where I only safety, because little Evader / Benevolent emblems (the first because I manage to remain unseen and leave the area, the second because hook rush from my teammates).

  • AT LAST someone that considers her power and not her walking speed.
    Thank you!

Possibly make it so that her add-on "Rusty Shackles" is just a base thing

    That would be a nerf.

I understand where you are coming from, but I'd like if it was atleast lower tier in rarity so it would be more common to use for people who want to use it. (If add-ons are supposed to make you stronger then ######### is the scarred hand for or even the speed limiter for Hillbilly?)

Okay, I see your point now. About rarity, I don't know what to tell - her brown addons are stronger than her green ones lol. Scarred Hand is a joke, I would love a revamp of her purple / pink addons so that they're just straight up buff - like for this one: phantasms have now collision, and that's it - no speed reduction, you can still teleport, etc.

But to go back on topic. A several buff ideas I had:

    • Dead Fly Mud and brown necklet AT LEAST in her base kit. She should be the queen of map control, especially since she WASTES time building her power.
    • She can teleport during her attack cooldown animation. Doesn't shorten the animation, but helps her to catch up faster.
    • Increased post-teleport lunge, regardless of your momentum (like the old Nurse)
    • (Optional) Makes the trap face the survivor by default if you insta-teleport
    • Fix her bugs (lol)

That would make her closer to Nurse in the tier list.

  • @TheMatthewLee said:
But I'd love for her to be fast.

She's fast in her own way, like the Nurse is. You guys should remember that you can start a chase instantly 32m away from a survivor...

  • From what I heard, they are only there for like the first 5 times you face a new killer, just enough for you to discover how they work! ^.^
  • It's not about the fact there are meta, Dead Hard and the new BT are in the meta yet very few complain about them.

DS is very usually the perk people complain about the most, for several reasons: a FREE get-out-of-jail perk, extremely frustrating on the killer side (denies a hook you deserved), and can be - in the right hands - potentially broken.

On the same fashion, people dislikes Self Care because the infinite heal is kinda against the core mechanics - and so are the killer perks / addons with wallhacks but they are all carefuly balanced (sometimes weak...) in order to not break the balance.

Sprint Burst just needs to have a condition like other exhaustion perks.
  • For Hag:

    • Black skull Hag
    • Broken doll like this design from Silent Hill Homecoming :3
    • This Krampus design would look so freaking cool on her!

  • If you want to remain stealthy, you would probably make more use of We'll Make It than Borrowed Time. Urban Evasion is really useful to make saves without being seen from afar, Lightweigth is also an option to consider!
  • Didnt read anything yet, I will add a proper comment later.

Small Game is fine as it is. It might look weak, but it fits perfectly its purpose and is a very useful perks at high ranks to destroy early Ruin and NOED. Maybe add a little faster cleanse speed?

Urban Evasion should not be nerfed, stealth perks are so rare in this game...

Sprint Burst only lacks a condition to be balanced. It's the only exhaustion perk that has no condition to trigger the perk and that's why this perk is annoying - it is not as situational as Lithe, Balanced Landing, Dead Hard, Adrenaline.

Balanced Landing only needs to be fixed honestly, it will be a good perk if the exhaustion on tier 3 didn't affect the fall reduction as well.
  • "Good job!" because (good) sabo is so rare this day and it also adds another objective for the survivors :)
  • Ohhh I love the idea! A real survivor thrill! I wanna join, but not for the prize, just for the fun :3
