  • On one hand, killers can't connect hits because of auto aim, and the devs refuse to acknowledge it.

On the other, their servers can say no to fairness usage when survivors do anything.

    what is this game anymore-

  • Weirdly reminds me of when Doc has a splinter. I know that's not related to this, but...yeah.

  • Off the top of my head?

Survivor: When in a chase, survivors in a 20/25/30 meter radius can see your aura.

    Or...

When in a locker, you can see all survivors auras that aren't in a 40/30/20 meter radius. (Sort of like BBQ)

Killer: When kicking a gen, said gen is blocked for 10/15/20 seconds. Cool down for a minute will be applied.

    Either that, or...

When a gen is popped, the exposed status is applied to all survivors for 10/15/20 seconds.

Probably has a bunch of flaws, but they're off the top of my head. Tell me if you have any ideas to improve them. Balance was not thought of during these being made, but usefullness was.

  • Imagine hiding in a locker across the map from a killer, and acting like Legion is the problem.

Don't worry. There's still stuff like this in the game.

Thank goodness they put in DC penalties though!

Not saying that's not weird. But that's an entirely different subject. I'm just talking about the penalty.

  • Based on my games, I'd easily say Freddy. Barely anyone plays him anymore. If I somehow run into a Freddy player, they don't understand either of his powers. No pallets, only using traps around a hook. No teleporting. It's weird. They may as well just play Wraith.

  • Susie is best girl. How dare you tell me to give her up. ;-;

The audacity of you claiming that this is all for a silly pun. *Scoff* While the Green Key is in fact 'Broken' 😏 it is the most powerful item in game. The Devs know it's crazy 'Broken' that's why it's called a 'Broken' key.

    you know...

    I would be mad.

But I'm mad at myself for being oblivious.

To the sheer power of Broken keys, of course.

  • @Elk said:

So you see the powers of the key! So powerful that it's Broken! 😉

wait WAS THIS ALL A PUN

  • Honestly, I use Legion mostly. The ability to potentially get nearly everyone injured, and keep them healing instead of doing gens is great. If not that, then Pig can keep people busy if they complete gens, or keep them off if they want to remove the trap.

Don't have DLC? Turn on easy mode with Billy, or try out laying traps as Hag. They both have nice mobility, and can leave a lot of bad situations for survivors.

  • I mean, there are some. It's just easier for the crappy matchmaking system to get lower killers. If the rank of a killer is lower, that makes it easier for the system to match then with anyone. If they're higher, then it might take awhile. At least, I think so. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • It's so broken, you can't even use it. Pls nerf I play Billy with noed and I get 4k every match but this is broken ;-;;-;;-;;-;

  • I can't begin to say how many chases need to be dropped during a match. If it takes longer than a minute to land a single hit, I move on to gens. A lot of people get obsessed with chases nowadays.

  • Love going against:

    Spirit.

    Freddy.

    Demo.

With the pressure they give, it can make matches interesting.

    Hate going against:

    Plague (Plain annoying)

Billy (Not that the killer is annoying, but the people who play him usually go for the chainsaw only approach. It gets annoying to have all the time in the world to see them mess up their chainsaw strikes.)

    Leather. (See above.)

    Love playing:

    Legion

    Spirit

    GF/Pig

I could go either way for the last two. Their abilities, whether it's getting somewhere fast, or undetected, suit my way of playing.

    Hate playing:

    Huntress

    Nurse

    Hag

While I'd love not to suck at using them...well, here we are.

Slugging isnt outplaying survivors. Its outdoing basic game mechanics and just scummy play as killer. The only thing that needs to be fixed is that slugging shouldnt be possible like it actually is. Its not fun to lay on the ground half the game til a sweaty killer got his "will".

    We found the survivor main.

  • Yesn't. On one hand, they go by fast. However, a majority of people on the forums (from what I can tell, correct me if I'm wrong) seem to have the mentality of "If I get into a chase, I need to end it." To me, I usually drop a chase if it takes longer than a minute with no hits.

Some people may not use that strategy, arguing they can heal and such, but that will at least keep them off gens.

I dunno. Feel free to share your opinions. I'm just a Legion main, what do I know?

  • NLTQOK457SD9.jpg J94L5ER3GYAX.jpg 00R4YI4K7XYB.jpg

Because how dare I use Pop. They thought I had BBQ, but he just kept going to the same exact spots. Never joined my party, either. Checked their profile, not a single prestige.

  • It's half because of people not playing as much killer, and half because the servers are ######### at finding similarly ranked peeps, so eventually they just give up and mash random ranks together.

  • The fact you need Surveillance to even make it slightly useful is sad. What sort of perk deserves to need another perk as crutches?

Whoa guys watch out for prove thyself. It buys 4 seconds per gen at best which might save you 10 seconds if lucky! Broken, too fast!

I... never said it was broken? Chill out. I'm just saying that gens feel way faster with it equipped. With how gens last a minute or two anyways, those few seconds could be life or death. Saying this from someone who uses it constantly.

But no, I'm a salty Legion main who complains about a perk nearly no one uses. You got me.

  • @judge_fist said:

People over simplify how easy it is to play killer at higher ranks. I play both sides a lot and its quiet obvious the easier side to play is definitely survivor. The skill required to be a high rank killer vs survivor skill gap is huge.

While survivor is stupidly easy (Run Prove Thyself once, see how fast the match ends.) , I feel like a lot of people are acting like killer is impossible. Not saying it isn't hard, you'll need to sweat a bit, but it's not unachievable. I get you aren't saying that, but it's a surprising amount of people from what I see in discussions.

  • @Keene_Kills said:

Killers aren't leaving over one perk. They're leaving over a long, drawn-out campaign to simplify survivor gameplay in order to make it more fun at the extreme expense of the killers' enjoyment. It's like a lover who's done you wrong time and again, and you keep going back to them, hoping they will change. It's a toxic relationship.

Ruin nerf was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Then the dev Q&A yesterday confirmed it for most folks. The game plan going forward is quite clear, the lover has not changed, and many killers are giving up on holding out hope. Simple as that.

Well, hey. Not much to say about that on my end. If that's how it is, then people have a right to leave, or do whatever. I get your point, and to be honest, I can't go against that because of it being true. Maybe I'm just really gullible, but I still think they have a chance of giving killers a better chance. Not a guarantee, but I have hope. If not, I can still mess around with Legion for BPs.

  • @MigrantTheGreat said:

Nobody wants to play a game where your extremely stressed out because your severely limited on your choices were even the right choice still means losing. Not only that the devs are making killers irritating to play. Imo the ruin changes isn't the only reason why we killers are being driven away. Ruin allowed us to play in a non toxic way. Slugging is now justified for killers and survivors hate being slugged. I mostly play for points but I don't wanna play in a way that pisses survivors off to were they DC because they aren't having fun

Sometimes it'll feel like the whole game hates killers, but I feel like the biggest issue isn't really Ruin itself. If anything, I feel like the larger maps (Myers, Demo, maybe Doc's?) are what stops a killer from applying pressure. From what I remember, I'm pretty sure they've mentioned making maps smaller, so that might solve the problem. As for slugging, what for? If anything, I'd personally always hook someone if given a safe chance to do so, unless there's a nearby survivor or two to injure before doing so.

  • @InsideOut said:

The Killer situation is NOT THAT BAD.....

But it surely isn't good. People play games to have fun, when the fun is reduced or removed entirely, people stop playing.

Just look at how many Nurse matches you see. Very few even though the Nurse is still a very viable Killer, the fun factor was removed from her, and the end result was seeing WAY WAY less Nurse games. Which I guess keeps survivors happy, so we are on par with BHVR M.O.

I won't argue with that, to be honest. However, I doubt the fun has been completely removed. Sure, people have to try harder to get kills, but that's what playing killer does. It gives you a rush of satisfaction when your plans come together. If they don't, there's always next game.

I can understand that they're catering to lower survivors, but they're still keeping in mind that people actually know how to play the game at higher ranks.

  • @BabyBubbaMain said:

Killers really not all that bad. The only problem Killer has at the moment is getting really strong survivor teams which is bound to happen from time to time.

If I’m being completely honest to you, most killers I have seen on here are completely overreacting to the Ruin nerfs. Ruin needed change, but I will admit that they should have atleast addressed the 12,000 Square meter maps first.

Most people don’t realize that there’s other ways to pressure the survivors instead of just relying on a hex perk to do the job for you. The ideal situation is having one survivor hooked, slugged, and chase another guy. That puts massive pressure on the team and it’s 3 people not doing generators.

Time is also very precious to the killer, walking around kicking generators might not sound bad, but if there’s atleast 1-2 survivors doing generators, it’s bad. So, if I’m being honest, Killers need to step up their game. And I’m saying this as a killer player too.

Exactly. Of course, there isn't much to do against a coordinated SWF with Meta perks, but it's extremely rare you'll ever have that one match of zero kills. People usually react to the game on that one game, instead of a basis of multiple. I loved Ruin, but I've gotten used to not having it be too useful. The Ruin/Surveillance combo is strong, bu5 not necessarily needed to keep pressure. I feel like there are too many people who are on survivors like a rabid dog, leaving gens as an afterthought.

I like yellow smiley face, mangled+nurse's calling is a great combo.

I've never used the yellow smiley too much, I've usually either ran Green Smiley and Green Duration, or GD and a stun time buff.

  • Of course they use Self Care and Empathy. Instead of getting perks to be useful, they get dunked and cry about it.

    ENTITY PLEASED

  • While I can agree with how it shouldn't be so long, if stun time was two seconds, it would be too easy to catch up to survivors by stabbing them and cancelling beside them. Maybe 3 seconds, but I dunno. If anything, just try to grind out his add ons. Yellow is useless, but green/purple work great.

  • I promise, you guys. Not all Legions are crybabys.

    @Some_Dood64

Yeah thats what we assume but we dont have any proof or confirmation.

I mean, if you really want to, try it out for yourself. I got Legion's blue camo skin before getting him, and I still had it when I got him at a later date. All it's doing is saying, "You own this now," regardless of whether you own the things to use it. If you buy bullets for a gun, you can't use them if you don't have a gun, but you still own those bullets.

  • If the last one deserved to be the last one, playing well and doing objectives, I'll carry them around to find hatch. If not, I'll help them find a hook.

  • Not to be rude or anything, but maybe just don't run one or the other. If you know they won't work together, don't put them together. Either that, or just use Pop as a backup for when Ruin goes.. Better yet, what I do is just get rid of Ruin altogether and put Surveillance on, keeping Pop.

  • It's the same as buying a cosmetic for someone you don't have. The game will just stash it in your inventory for that character for whenever you buy them.

  • @Animator said:

But aren't you focused on the survivor during the chase? In any case, you can muffle the chase music a little.

I get that much, but a majority of the time in a chase, you want to be hearing a survivor's grunts and such, not head banging to a sweet theme.

Also, would you care to tell me how to muffle it? I'd love to muffle Doc starting up an old Jeep.

  • At this point, DBD may as well be a NERF commercial.

It's Spirit, Oni, Billy, or nothin'.

  • It's a great theme, don't get me wrong. I feel like it would get in the way of concentrating on noises around you, to be honest.

  • It's not that big of a deal. Imagine if Lithe increased vaulting speed, or something like that. The reduced stagger is still there for the first time. The nerf is just going to help survivors be less cocky, and not to loop on Haddonfield for an eternity.

  • @voiceofguns27 said:

I don't understand the need to nerf a situational per to begin with. Sure, there are maps looking to get reworked. But, you have Sheltered woods where it's completely useless unless you happen to get high enough on the tree in the center. Another useless map I can think of is Yamoka estate. Balance Landing already took a nerf with the exhaustion changes. Exhaustion nerf was needed especially with sprint burst being a no brain hold down shift for 40 seconds. I don't understand why the stagger needs to be nerfed when it works well only on certain maps. Not only that, I don't see it often as killer and it's not as frustrating once you know the survivor shows you their hand like dead hard. I think this is a terrible knee jerk reaction by the dev team to nerf this perk and just stay focused on map balance.

It's not that bad, calm down. It's still just as usable as before.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

The rate at which coordinated survivor teams are able to repair generators at can be problematic for weaker killers whose powers cannot be effectively used to pressure the survivors. Increasing the time it takes to repair generators would just make playing survivor boring. Holding M1 for 80 seconds can be tedious as is so I think that increasing generator time would just shift the game's problems.

I think adding more secondary survivor objects which are actually appealing is the correct way to slow down games.

True. I probably should have thought about a second objective, but nothing came to mind. Maybe something like fueling a gen before it starts? Certain areas around the map have fuel pumps, and you'd carry a gallon to a gen to start working on it? I dunno.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Regardless of Balanced Landing becoming the worst Exhaustion Perk in the Game, Exhaustion Add Ons are stupid and should be changed. They are from a time where Exhaustion recovered while running, now they simply remove a Perk. Beerus Toxin is only 3k BP, negating Dead Hard, Lithe, Balanced Landing (completely, after the Nerf)...

This is like if those Toolbox Add Ons which increase the Skill Check Zones would increase the Hex-Skill Check Zones... Killers would riot.

Cheap Add Ons should not negate entire Perks. And it does not even matter (when it comes to Huntress) if someone is exhausted for 30 seconds (brown) or 90 seconds (green), since Exhaustion does not recover while running...

So? Don't depend on them once you learn they have something to counter exhaustion perks. You don't need them. If you realize they have something to counter your perk, learn around it. Just play normally. You'll be able to loop killers just fine.

    @HamdaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/862345#Comment_862345

if you think dodging huntress hatchets on servers right now is easy you have serious problems

You say they have serious problems, when every reply to a comment you've provided has either gone off topic, or has been just flat out rude.

Bottom line is, exhaustion isn't that big of a deal. Perks like Balanced, Lithe, or Dead Hard can extend a chase and have little ways of countering without exhaustion. Dead hard can be waited out, but what about the others? If anything, exhaustion brings balance to the table. People might not even have anything to exhaust, so then what? That would just be a waste of a slot. Balanced is just fine, the problem is that it enabled certain infinites. Haddonfield is a great example, where you could just keep going around the house for an entire game. With the nerf, it'll at least solve that much.

  • He looks like if Kingpin or Gru got dipped into blue paint.

  • If the ability to get them with shards is there, do that. You really want them that badly? Put some effort in, or cough up some dough.

I think he means that a second objective should be implemented in-game so gens aren't the only mandatory thing needed to escape.

Regarding the poll, I play both sides and it's true that gens can pop at a pretty crazy speed if the team knows what to do, even more if there are toolboxes and perks involved. The more I play, the more I understand why nearly every killer runs Ruin. Sure, pros do gens anyway even if it's active, but it's still a bit slower even if they do hit every single great skill check, cause no additional progress is rewarded... and should it happen someone starts looking for the Hex and proceeds to try and break it, then that's one person not doing a gen, and in high ranks that could mean a lot.

So yes, I believe gens have been and still are being done at insane speeds. Killers who lack map pressure will struggle to keep them from popping even if they have counterperks, because at the end of the day, it's 4 vs 1. Ultimately it comes down to how good the killer and the survivors are.

I don't know if reducing the overall time needed to complete could just be the solution, maybe as said above: A secondary objective is what the game needs to avoid this. A mandatory one, of course. But that could heavily impact the core gameplay of DbD, so I don't know. But I do know that a lot of people (specially survivor mains) don't want changes regarding the speed of gens. So we'll see if the devs decide to implement a change or not.

TL;DR: Gen Speeds are fast / The more I play both sides, the more I understand the constant use of Ruin/ A change should be implemented but I'm not sure what specifically.

I usually run Ruin, too. Either it gets found in the first minute, or people tough it out and it takes 7-9 minutes instead of 5 without Ruin.

A second objective would be great, but what would it be? How could it be implemented?

Either way, whether something is done about gen speeds, or something new is added, I'd love to see some way to get matches longer than five minutes. From what I've seen, a gen being done alone takes roughly a minute up to a minute and a half. Which is how long most of my chases last. Whether that means I suck or not, I still think something should be done. Not to where it takes an eternity, but to where I can get something a chase done without two or three gens popping.

Same with playing survivor. Just makes matches boring. The only excitement I got from recent matches were if a killer brought NOED.

Yet he is already on his second written notice and is on probation and most likely to be fired. His child has a lot of issues at school and home that gets directed at games.

I could have said so, but I decided to be legitimate and ask him what I would be banned for, and even offered to talk to Papa Dev via private party. Of course, they avoided the offer and just went on and on about the ban.
