  • One thing I'm wondering, unless I can't read and didn't notice it being mentioned.
Say a survivor dies on their second hook before that 6 hook count is met, be it some diabolical camping, the solo queue curse of teammates leaving them or just not hitting skill checks to go next, will the gen speed buff still go through?
Is it situational, or is it regardless of someone else being chased/having been hooked already, or if the killer is locking down the kill by keeping a hatchet charged up? I'm mostly worried for people giving up or survivors letting them die on purpose for the buff.

I'd rather have the map than not, honestly. It wasn't planned on the roadmap or anything so it's a bonus, but I would love to see it revisited later on down the line.

Not like I'm gonna downvote you for daring to have an opinion, but I'd rather not have the map pool cluttered with "This map but with X/Y/Z building." Lesser chances of playing cooler/more interactive maps is iffy to me, admitably the same could be said for 5 version of Krueger's.

Though, I would love for them to revisit the maps, for sure. If RPD can get nerfed into a playable state, Freddy's/Refuge can be buffed into being more interesting. I can imagine it's a very low priority if they were released in the state they were, that's the main issue. That, and usually maps get overhauls if they're unbalanced or outdated.
    203X TWD/Freddy's rework hype train!!

  • Like I said with another discussion about more or less the same, we got Singularity and Xenomorph, Freddy and Pig, and also Deathslinger and PH's maps back to back. All of which were vastly different than a majority of maps, though I admitably don't remember the period of time between the chapters coming out. Having Theater but with a pizzeria (admitably cool, I just wish the outside reflected that) or a tower (It's one loop lol) instead of said theater is just lazy, especially for two of the biggest series to ever exist in horror/TV.

Even if a new realm is coming and/or the new original map is something amazing, it'll just make these two stand out more in a negative way, and it moreso worries me what'll happen for future crossovers. Imagine Jason gets in, but it's just Huntress' shack replaced with Jason's. If they can't handle making a map because of future plans, then they need to slow their roll.

  • Addiction.

Semi seriously though, mostly because nothing like it exists or lasts. It's ironically the most beginner friendly option out of the past decade or so. Ash Vs Evil had me curb stomped with a lack of matchmaking, FT13th nuked itself when it hit it's peak and shut down despite a bigger playerbase than the next thing I'll mention, Texas was riddled with poor decisions and balancing, RE Resistance is…definitely a game, Identity V is too gimmicky to be locked behind gacha paywalls and (last I played) lacks tutorials on how characters work, etc. I'm probably forgetting a few.

DBD's just king at the moment. Perks are annoying, killers can be hard to counter, but a majority of that is just basic learning instead of "Oh, you need to get this skill on the skill tree before you can fight X and Y" "You gotta run this perk to give you a pocket knife or you instantly die", rarely do players need a perk to counter something outright, and some very rare outright counters are basekit (Doctor=calm spirit as an example. That's just from what I remember, feel free to correct) Too many people I've tried to get into the game hate losing and hate learning from their losses even more, things like this and fighting games drive me to improve instead of opening my wallet first.

Do constant bugs suck? Yeah, I'd rather not the entire game freeze until I close it out because two people popped fog at the same time. I'd rather not get stuck on top of pallets as hag, have my dog missing a frontal lobe on release, find out there's a way to go into lockers without being grabbable, etc. I choose to iron it out because no other game hits the same level of achievement to me. Nothing else with this cluster of crossovers and variety in playstyle has the same level of "Yeah, I did that, and not my character."
Obviously the top 3-5 killers/builds on both sides say otherwise, but challenging myself with fun stuff is…y'know, fun.

  • @Nick said:

It does need some slight improvements though.

    • Should also work while Mending
    • Should also work when getting healed by another Survivor

I wouldn't say it should work for both sides, personally.

    Mending? Absolutely.

Being healed? I wouldn't say to go that far, could lead to a lot of near instant heals that are dead silent, like top 1% medkit loadouts, Leader, boons, ect. Maybe the groans would be silenced, but not the bandages?

Either way, Bite the Bullet is godlike in the right hands, and in the right situations when you need a pick me up under pressure, or just needing to stealth.

  • Completely fair. I've lost count of the matches I've done pre anniversary where I'll get 15-20k (because I admitably suck, or I'll play survivor and get the same amount) and get halfway through a BW between each match because I want items that actually matter. Now it's about double or triple, so it isn't horrible...for now. Best believe I'm grinding the hell out of this event to P3 Trickster and Cheryl.

  • Dude, you left the game to a point where you were banned for 22 hours?

ok why that you dev you work for the team?

never say never people would want her but who know you maybe only play one side.

I can barely understand you, learn some grammar. I'm not a dev, but what does that matter? There's barely any reason to add Sidney and get into licensing. She has nowhere near the fan desire as things like Silent Hill, Stranger Things, and so on.

How can you assume I only play one side based off an opinion of a survivor skin? Don't say it's different, it's literally just a skin over a maybe new model. If I didn't know any better, I would assume you only play survivor based off of your assumptions.

    No.

  • don't.

Joking aside, GF is a tough one to get to work on some maps. If you're indoors aside from the school, you're good to go with your corner peeks. Just try not to rush people if you have a good place to stalk, but also know when it's a good time to just hit them with a stealth stab.

As already said by someone else, try to stalk someone to 99% before getting close and finishing the job at stabbing them at their exposed state, similar to Myers.

  • I'm not the best Nurse, but I can definitely play her averagly. If being on PS4 is an issue, then that sucks. If it's not a problem, try sending a request to Some_Dude64#3f53. Hopefully I'll be at least somewhat of a challenge.

  • So, you're asking for survivors to be able to just see all totems for free. No map required. Takes the fun and fairness out of finding them.

Let's turn this around. Imagine if killers had a perk that showed arrows on where to go instead of scratches. Takes the fun and fairness out of finding the sneaky peeps.

Point being, put some effort in. You're survivor, you have the easy role in the game. Half the time, survivors spawn next to the darned thing, so this perk change would just destroy people using totems whatsoever.

Everyone gets 600 per dc i believe, but its like 4k for surviving alone.

My bad, I'll admit I got that wrong.

  • @Kumnut768 said:

first off these squads are so rare,

second dc penalty did nothing as you could bypass it via suicide or afking the match out so it did nothing to solve the issue

and there is no fix to the issue no matter what happens you cant force people to play the game it would be better if they added another playlist with a dc penalty on or smth idk

First, they shouldn't exist to begin with. I'm not saying it's common, I'm saying there should be at least a band aid penalty to keep them from doing it rapidly with little to no punishment.

Second, AFKing and suiciding at least gives the killer some points. DCing makes sure a killer can't even safety pip at times. It did plenty, at least allowing people who raged to have to take a time out and think about not doing it anymore.

I never said people need to play the game, suiciding and AFKing is available as you just said. The penalty prevented people from playing if they raged, so that last point isn't all that valid.

It's not really related to your question, but how did you only get 3k BP while the escaped survivor got 13k?

Because all I got to do was find a survivor, hit them, and break a pallet. Then a couple of BP's for the DC's. Survivor gets thousands for their teammates DCing, then finds the hatch.

Faulty connextions are not the players own problem. That is a rather arrogant outlook. Even assuming their house had a download/upload of 100kbps... That's still not their fault, as people always get the best internet access they can, with consideration to financial and living situation. That argument has merit in the competitive scene, sure, but that's not DbD. They most certainly shouldn't get punished for it.

And I wasn't even talking about that - the game itself is incredibly faulty and unstable. The servers regularly drop people for no apparent reason, despite their personal internet connection. I have friends that with an average of 20 ping (which means they are almost on top of the servers) and absolutely ridiculous internet speeds, and they still get dropped on occasion even despite being the most privaleged of the privaleged in terms of "controllable" connections.

Fair enough, that's just how I see it is all. In my personal experience, along with everyone else I've played with, it was their WiFi that messed up. I shouldn't have assumed.

Still, I doubt a server will mess up more than once, maybe twice. Penalties shouldn't be stacking too high for those who get messed up by the server. Maybe I'm wrong, but I haven't been disconnected from a server unless maintenance was being done.

  • @delilahsupastar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1577602#Comment_1577602

Did it DC them all at once? I was thinking that if it did it could have been that just one of them had a bad connection and it ended up DC'ing all of them because they were in a party? But you are right, nobody should de-pip when there are DCs, period. You should at least safety pip.

Yeah, all three at once with no reasoning. Not even a minute into the match, one of them spammed a flashlight. I'm positive it was on purpose.

  • @Dehitay said:

What blows my mind is the fact that they still haven't introduced either a husk or bot system to replace disconnected characters. It's been years. DbD Mobile managed to pull that much off in the short amount of time they've been out. Yet our main development team is somehow unable to implement code that is ALREADY AVAILABLE!

Good point. I just want something to prevent survivors from being screwed over (unless it's a manipulated SWF move like I encountered,) and killers to be able to enjoy their won chases. At the very least let matches with DCs be unable to affect rank in terms of things like sacrifices and saves. Meanwhile, leave things like Gatekeeper, which the player is in control of, alone and ready to bring down someone playing poorly.

There's no set in stone solution, but a solution is better than no solution.

  • @MadLordJack said:

DC penalties didn't just hurt because of hackers. People would get banned for losing connection, or be trapped in a game getting held hostage, or just get trapped in the side of a hill. And guess what? Suicides still happened.

True. Still, I remember the DC penalties being removed nearly a day after a Twitch streamer got banned for an absurd amount of time after a normal match, which he then contacted Behavior about the problem. I assumed that was the main reason.

There are reasons to DC, and sometimes people shouldn't be banned for a faulty connection.

But, my argument is that people shouldn't get mad when they know their connection is bad, and they get punished for leaving a game.

Bugs are another can of worms. That's completely understandable, because there is nothing left to do. It's not a reason to remove a penalty, I think it's more of a push to fix said bugs...whenever that happens.

Suicides at least gave killers points for their sacrifices, and allowed them to at least get a chance at having fun. With DCs, they only lose 10k BP's and the killer gets to lose a pip or two, maybe even going as far as to not even get 20k BPs at the end. Aside from BPs, it's just torture for a killer to go through a chase, win said chase, and get punished by the loser with a simple leave, and the survivor doesn't even get a slap on the wrist. Either side can get into scenarios, but killer DCs don't effect survivors as much as the other way around.

Point being, there needs to be something in place to prevent others from getting other's experiences down with leaving the match. Slap on the wrist, or a can of whoop-badword, something. Anything. People can just abuse the system as shown above as of right now, and there is nothing the player can do about such a thing, which will discourage them from even trying.

Obviously, not every player will do this, but there has to be something to at least slim down the numbers.

TLDR: While there are genuine reasons to DC, bugs should be fixed whenever possible, and faulty connections are a player's own fault. A penalty should be required for a ranked multiplayer game where one DC can ruin the experience for everyone.

  • @delilahsupastar said:

Honestly I think the 'time out' does very little for trolls or people who just get upset because they got caught. I suggested they replace it with a tag or badge with their name that indicates if they have DC'd recently and how often they have done so. That way, people can choose whether or not they want to play with that person.

True. Still, both, or either of those would be great to make sure people can't abuse systems, and pick on others because they have nothing better to do. It sucks people have to find every possible way to pick on others to get a sense of happiness.

Will a few people play killer with the ones that they haven't played with in a month or more and see what you get matched with after 2-3 games? I'm getting Rank 20s now with Leatherface after it did a 180° on me. I switched to Wraith and got all Rank 1's and 2's for 8 straight games and got smeared. I'm a Rank 1 on both sides.

It's a theory but I'm thinking your main gets easy lobbies while you're very least played gets the hardest lobbies. I just want to test it with a bigger group since I'm only 1 person. Leave your results please and thank you.

Same happened. Play 10-20 matches with PH, and I get brain dead survivors that let me get five Devour stacks.

I then decide to try out Nurse for the first time, and immediately get matched with tryhards with the DH smol pp build.

From what I've also seen it gets worse for new killers who are just starting to play killer, my friend decided to play 1 game of trapper for the first time and all their survivors were rank 1, no kinda excuse for that. I guess it takes your mmr from your survivor experience? and assumes you're capable of beating them? the noob killer aspect just is confusing for me.

Hell if I know. Playing dozens of matches with Hag doesn't do a thing, but my first ever match with Nurse gets me rank ones with literally every one with the smol pp DH build.

  • @Fellek said:

So, I had an issue in-game where I 3k and I juggled the 4th and let them escape so I don't depip (see my first post for more info), someone else in the game then reported me and said that they submitted a ticket and they apparently responded to her saying "we require no more evidence" after she allegedly sent them video proof.

She/he then told me "enjoy your 14 days cooldown", is this just rubbish or is that for real? I thought first ban was 24hrs...?

Without a doubt, you will not get banned. Playing a game in a way someone else doesn't like will not get you banned. You outplayed them however you did such a thing, so you won't get banned for winning. If that were bannable, this game wouldn't have had a year of support, much less four.

Lol like hovering 25m away isn't camping. Love, that's 1m further than Spirit, Hag, Deathslinger's base terror radius. Be honest, what Devour Hope gamers do you ever see playing their typical style of gameplay when the perk is active? The hard majority realise totem spawn locations on most maps suck so they aim to get as many tokens as possible before it goes. It hardly promotes not camping, since it doesn't take more than 3 seconds to make up a distance of 25m

    >Hardly promotes not camping

Not only does this perk immediately show how balanced it is by being a totem in the first place, but if it gets to three or five stacks, that's the survivor's fault. Literally every bit of the perk depends on survivors being saviors. If they don't find the totem, oh well.

But back to the reason I picked that little snippet. How does it promote camping, if I may ask? If anything, it gives me/others more reason to leave and pressure gens, or chase someone else outside of the hook radius. There is zero reason to stand outside it and wait for someone to unhook. If you stand still outside of a chase to mind game, that's just a waste of time. That's like waiting around at a gen almost 50% while others decide to do another one.

Hell, even if it is a Spirit, or whatever 'campy' killer you want to draw from the deck, survivors shouldn't sit at a hook and heal in the first place unless they absolutely know the killer is busy. That's just the riskiest move out there.

  • It's especially bad for someone who switches killers every now and then. Such as "That Hag game was boring, I'm using PH to give myself a challenge." Things like that can screw with the MMR since killer changing can't happen anymore once you're ready.

  • Probably not. Just another bug introduced along with the horrible new ranking system.

  • Rank doesn't matter, yet they make a new ranking system that makes people with experience and time suffer. If you're a high ranking survivor and get paired with people who can't loop and run for gens went being chased, they'll get punished for not carrying them. Killers out there, now is the time to get Adept trophies.

Let's be honest, this MMR bull is just an excuse to get rid of complaints about their poor matchmaking and instead make it even worse by literally throwing everyone at a wall and seeing who sticks.

  • @Scavenger2287 said:

After the update flashlight saves have become impossible for me. Just me or were they nerfed?

No, not at all. Might be a bug, but if anything, you might have to aim upwards a bit more than usual. That's what I've had to do in my experience of playing survivor, but it's weird. You kind of have to aim at the forehead rather than the neck/face.

  • Jeez. This shouldn't take zooming in and squinting.

  • @Babyyy_Boyy said:

I should not be forced to play a game where the killer decides to play like douche. Why should I be forced to play a game where the killer lets me bleed out to death instead of hooking me? Why should I be forced to play a game where the killer first hook moris? Why should I be forced to play a match where the killer tunnels? Why should I be forced to play with a killer that shakes their head no as if they’re good? It’s kind of annoying how the dc penalty keeps coming back and going away. Like can someone on the development team make up their mind if you’re gonna have it up or not?

Not a single person is forcing you to play. Turn the game off if you can't handle someone playing how they want to.

You are not entitled to anything in this game, nor should you receive special treatment.

It's not a big deal, you aren't wrong. The problem is that it shouldn't happen in the first place, that's all.

  • "Is matchmaking broken again?"

    Wait, it was fixed?

  • @Peanits said:

To clear one thing up, the found survivors points shown on the emblem screen there does not mean how many survivors you've found. The number on the emblem screen a percentage of the total points required for an iridescent emblem. In this case, finding survivors gives you 5 chaser points, and you found survivors ten times that match, leaving you with 2% (50 of the total 2,550 chaser points required).

Outside of that, chaser is awarded for having lots of successful and fast chases, where a chase ends when you either lose the survivor or land a hit. The shorter your chase, the more chaser points you bank. Chaser does not award bonus points for downing a survivor, so using things that allow you to down a survivor from healthy effectively halves the number of chases you'll be scoring points on.

You didn't lose any points for camping, so you're already doing great there. If you're looking to get your adept, you might want to slug a little bit rather than hooking right away. That'll give you more opportunities to chase survivors before they die.

Wait, so...survivors found doesn't mean how many survivors you found? Why not word it differently then? I've gotten a match saying I found six survivors, it doesn't explain what that means.

Also, the talk about the Adept achievement. Why should we be punished for killing someone instead of giving them extra chances? The shorter chase, the more points. I can get that. But if you play the game too well, you get punished in terms of points earned? Why? The objective is to kill people as killer, that's like if survivors went into chases on purpose instead of doing gens. Funnily enough, sometimes they have to do that because winning a chase and not being seen the rest of the match apparently gives me a bronze in stealth.

I get developing a game is tough. I'm not being disrespectful or anything, but I'm saying that these scores should be explained or adjusted so that people can get points and understand how to do so a bit easier for both sides.

Unrelated, but I'm hoping you also discuss the reasoning behind the Aura changes in the next Q/A.

  • While it's a good idea to control SWF, I feel like it would be hell for solo play in terms of "which gen will need one person, and which will need more? Is it randomized which needs more," and so on. It would also make Discordance heavily overpowered.

  • I walk at a slight angle if they've 360'd in the past. They try to 360, but run right in front of me.

  • Might want to word that a bit better. Rework the add ons to reject each other, not Huntress as a whole.

"gen pressure is now all but gone". The Killer is responsible for pressuring the Survivors, not a Perk. The pressure is not gone, if you take too long while chasing one Survivor, sure, the others will do Gens. There is nothing else they can do at this point.

I can get that, but I can't do multiple across the map. The chase lasted about half a minute ona single loop.

All I can say to that is unlucky. You'll have games like that, and the one tip I can say to that is if a game is going south, 3 gen. It's often your last lifeline and if you do it right you can get a 4k.

I mean, I wish I could. If it's a map with spread out gens, it's over. Maps like Hawkins, Lampkin, or the Meat Plant have issues if you're not a Nurse, Billy, or Freddy main.

  • "Not nearly as bad as some say. Change my mind."

Okay. Three gens in two minutes. I can't pressure gens if I have to find someone, and hunt them down. It's not that I suck, it's because gens are way too fast.

  • So, you protect your house, and nothing else. A lone Survivor keeps pissing off Billy. Everyone else understands what's going on. That one survivor then gets mad that he kept going to the same spot, and nobody else, so the killer gets banned for his stupidity? This could be exploited beyond relief.

That, and wasn't tunneling not a bannable offence? I try not to do so, but c'mon. Devs need to figure out what the hell is going on, or give the game to another studio.

  • Just try to stay one step ahead. Use good headphones. Prediction of where a survivor will go while phasing is your top priority to learn, in my opinion.

  • Same happened to me with the Gunslinger 4K. Hoping they say something about this.
