Because the ranking system SUCKS. It wasn't designed with some important situations in mind.
-
Freddy is fun to play as and against. The only change that I could see happening is letting him teleport to completed/blocked off gens.
-
We shouldn’t use DCs to decide if something should be nerfed. Legion became the worst Killer in the game because of it (like even Leatherface can do more than them).
-
Aside from not abusing exploits, I don’t have an honor code. If I see you, you’re going on that hook whether you like it or not. I have to please the spider god in the sky.
-
Oh ######### the Killer is an actual threat!
-
I think that your first buff would work better with Unnerving Presence.
-
*nerf
The Survivors you are encountering just need to get good. People have already listed the counters here. We shouldn’t nerf anything because of incompetent players.
-
It really is. Unfortunately, most people like to think of DS as a get out of jail free perk and can’t accept a version where it is completely fair. They want to be able to make a million bad plays and not be punished for it. To prevent this, I think DS should just instantly deactivate when you enter a locker. It’s your fault. If the Killer is nearby and you decide to jump into a locker (especially when they’re not chasing you or you don’t have enough time for Head On to activate), you deserve to go on the hook. At that point it’s not tunneling. You’re asking to die. I guarantee you that if there was a Killer perk that was as strong as current DS, it’d be nerfed upon release.
-
I love it. Ignore the salty DCers, they're just trying to get another Killer nerfed into the ground instead of adapting. Besides, Demogorgon just came out yesterday. Give everyone some time to get used to him before crying for nerfs.
-
It's been like this since 2.6.0 and the devs unfortunately haven't said anything about fixing it. The ranking system and Adepts were ok in 2.5.0. Don't know why they had to ruin them in 2.6.0. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a part of the horrible "fun for Survivor" design philosophy. It's alright to consider fun for one side when it comes to something like a ranking system, but you can't screw over the other side like what's happening here.
-
It's probably because of the new design philosophy of Survivor fun. The ranking system is basically designed to give Survivors more chances to escape if the Killer wants to rank up. Forcing the Killer to play a certain way in order to rank up is something that should never happen. The previous version of the ranking system (2.5.0) was much better because it rewarded the Killer for playing efficiently and it was harder for Survivors to ######### over the Killer. If you see that a Survivor is making a huge mistake early on that could result in you getting a 4k and you decide to take advantage of it, then you can safety or even depip because of how the ranking system works. You actually have to let Survivors get away with mistakes in order to rank up.
If you manage to make a good comeback or the Survivors become overaltruistic after the gates are powered/open, the Gatekeeper Emblem won't really care about it. If you don't get anything done in the first nine minutes then you're screwed out of that Emblem (it's basically bring Ruin or Pop if you really want to do good in this Emblem). I honestly think the devs are too proud of the new ranking system because there was a LOT of backlash when the changes were on the PTB and after they went live. The only changes they did made it so Iridescent Devout was still possible if a Survivor DCed (and Survivors can still DC right when you're about to hook them to make it harder to rank up if they get salty) and made Gatekeeper easier to obtain (which still didn't fix the core problems with it). I don't think they've addressed any of the complaints either.
-
Not unless the devs have fixed the problems that they were causing.
-
I struggle with countering 360s and anything where the Survivor moves around quickly when the Killer is close. I think it’s because I’m on console.
-
This is the same dude who put Hag and Doctor at the very bottom of his tier list and completely ignored any advice on how to play them better (good example: he chased Survivors as Hag without setting any traps).
I don't think anyone takes his opinions very seriously anymore.
-
He can use his instadown on any Survivor (not just the one he stalked), has an improved lunge and vault speed in tier 3, can't lose his power by being looked at, and doesn't lose all of his stalk progress when he hits a Survivor.

Alright then. Lowered to 15 seconds.
It's not that the strategy is invalid, moreso that the strategy is potentially overpowered with the kit if not given limits.
Ok. I assume his bugs would also be fixed, right? His shock stun not always applying can be a really damaging bug. One time I had a Survivor drop a pallet on the wrong side and still managed to vault back over it. I shocked her right before she dropped the pallet. The game acted like I hadn't done anything.
-
All of the "don't tunnel" arguments are bullshit and are most likely coming from Survivors who need the free escapes or just want to be toxic. 60 seconds is a LONG time in DbD. You can do whatever you want and not get punished for it. If you or the unhooker makes a bad play (like jumping to a locker when the Killer is too close, running in front of you, or unhooking when the Killer is nearby and can down both you very quickly), then you don't deserve to get away for free. You deserve to get hooked again.
-
This sounds pretty good, except for the last part. The 3-gen strat is a valid strategy and we shouldn't punish the players who are not trying to take the game hostage and actually want to get kills. I'd lower it to at least 10 or 15 seconds without tier 3. 30 seconds can be long time in DbD.
-
I think it happens around 5 AM EST on the 13th.
-
Nothing is off the table? Nothing? Alrighty then.
Here’s your next Killer. Godzilla, King of the Monsters.
-
It’s not as effective at higher ranks though because players have gotten used to the smaller skill checks. There’s people out there who can hit Old DS+Unnerving and Overcharge+Unnerving.
-
Dropping Freddy’s pallets doesn’t bother me as much as you’d think. It means that there’s one less Survivor working on gens. If you’re chasing another Survivor, then you'll only have two Survivors at max working on a gen.
-
Good. It's not supposed to be fair. You had three chances to escape and you still failed. Too bad so sad.
-
Clown is decent, but needs some buffs. Gen rushing can really hurt him. He’s pretty fun to play as once you get going though.
-
Alien
Friday the 13th
Dying Light
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Survivors complained that Killers were having an easier time tracking them during a chase, which led to chase music volume being increased a couple of patches later. We really need a sound slider. Console Killers already have it bad enough with the lower FPS and sensitivity.
-
I'd say 12-16 minutes.
-
It might need some more hooks on or near the top floor so Survivors can't go up there after the hooks near the top are used up.
-
Haddonfield. That map is infinite heaven. Might as well call it Infinitefield.
After that, something should be done about some of the other maps that have really big loops like Ironworks and Disturbed Ward and the corn maps (Coldwind and Yamaoka) should be fixed.

As mentioned when these status effects were first announced, we'll be adding them to existing killers over time. In the case of Freddy, it's very easy to slip that into his power; his terror radius is already hidden for people who are asleep. For a killer like the Pig or Ghost Face, that would take a lot more work (we would need to completely redo their power).
What about Wraith? Couldn't Undetectable be easily slipped into his power? His terror radius is hidden while cloaked (unless using that one common add-on). Being able to see his aura while cloaked can really hurt him.
-
I'm really curious as to how Freddy is going to use the new status effects. I was thinking Wraith would get them when they launched, but Freddy?
-
Anyone know what the new Hatch closing animation looks like or if the Left for Dead achievement/trophy will be changed?
The only problem that I see with the new Left Behind is Survivors taking it and abandoning the team because they'll know where the Hatch is. I think the Survivor should have do something else so they can't turn the game into a 3v1, let the Killer kill everyone else, and then escape through the Hatch.

you can see the new perks on the PTB. it was 32 meters when they showed us the perk on the devs stream, now its down to 24 meters...
I can't play the PTB because I'm on console, but that's probably the tier 1 version. Are you looking in KYF or the character profiles? KYF has all of the perks at tier 3.
-
Where did you see this?
-
Like 3 or 4. One because the Survivor tried to crawl out, one because of ######### RNG, and the rest came from using Tampered Timer.
-
I'm hoping the balance changes will be included in the PTB patch notes for today.

Thats totally bs. Nothing other can save you from tunneling. Which is why this perks exists, to be a counter of that.
That’s what DS is supposed to be but it’s not unfortunately. With DS, a Survivor can do whatever they want and not have to worry about being hooked for 60 seconds. If you think quickly downing the unhooker and unhooked Survivor because they made bad plays is tunneling, then you’ve got some major problems.
@Danielgdp3 said:
Why not jus get hit by DS and move on it really isn't a big deal
...what? Are you new to the game? A five second stun can have a big impact during a match. It’s not fair if I clearly am not tunneling the Survivor but still get hit with DS because you capitalized on their mistakes.
-
I think that Survivors have gotten so used to DS being a Killer immunity perk that they can't accept a version where it isn't one. They don't want this perk to be fair. It's really sad but not surprising. If you make a bad play, DS shouldn't be able to save you. You deserve to get hooked again.
-
I would love one because I ######### hate the $10 price point of some of the skins. Unfortunately, we can’t have it because the devs let the greed get to their heads.

But why does this perk need to be 100% anti tunneling and absolutely worthless in any other situation? It has counterplay, it seems more than fine honestly the way it is.
I think they should rather focus on useless perks to increase the variety of perks being used.
Because that seems to be the only way to make this perk fair aside from reworking it again. It won't be worthless with how common tunneling is, unless worthless means that the perk isn't bullshit and is actually fair. New DS isn't as bad as the old one, but it's still a dumb perk that needs to be fixed.
-
Definitely. That's not tunneling and the Killer shouldn't be punished. Unfortunately, Survivors can't seem to accept a fair version of DS. It always has be a get out of jail free card so they can do whatever they want. It's really sad but not surprising.
-
Easily Doctor. He wouldn’t just kill you and get it over with. He’d try keep you alive and try to resurrect you if you die all in the name of science. There would be no escaping him.

Their changing doctor?
It was discussed on the last Q&A. Doctor will be getting an add-on pass and most likely a couple of buffs to his base kit. BHVR hasn’t announced when he’ll be getting updated though. A lot of other Killers will be getting looked at too.
-
I'm excited for everything, especially the bloodweb changes, map changes (specifically Haddonfield and the corn maps), and the Doctor buffs.
-
Is he at least trying to hit the Survivors or he is just trying to protect the gens for as long as possible until you guys DC or give up? If it's the latter, then you might be able to report him. I don't understand how Doctors can do that though. I would get bored because I'm not trying to kill the Survivors.
-
Just fix Protection hits. That's all it needs.
-
Pallet hitboxes have been weird recently.
EDIT: All hitboxes have been weird recently. It’s like something magically broke and ######### up the hitboxes.
-
This. The top 3 can't be looped easily and can dominate easily in the hands of a skilled player.
-
I'd be down for this. It's BS to lose DH before you can get some use out of it. At least the other hex perks can actually do something before going down.
-
Hitboxes. Sometimes you get hit when you shouldn't, and sometimes you miss when you shouldn't.
Head On+Q&Q combo. It means that they can't use Dead Hard and can be a pretty fun combo to use, but it is really annoying on the Killer side, especially on Ormond where scratch marks basically vanish after 0.1 seconds.
