  • I think just the sight of a Mori is enough to enrage Survivors and get them to do anything, even if they were dead on their next hook. The urge to disconnect is too strong for any higher brain functions to overcome.

  • DBD on Xbox Series X is dealing with some crashing problems, so a lot of people can't get in (unless they got fixed and I didn't know). You'll probably have to turn crossplay on in order to find games.

Random question about DBD on PS5. Is it a completely separate trophy list for PS5 or do all your trophies carry over from PS4?

Unfortunately it is a separate trophy list and you have earn them all over again. PS5 DBD is recognized as a separate game from PS4 DBD for some reason (it is possible to merge them, Ghost of Tsushima did it). If you want them to merge, then we just need to let BHVR know that there's a demand for it.

    It’s just heavenly isn’t it.

The performance makes a MASSIVE difference when playing killer. Survivor 360’s are a cake walk to hit now. No more sudden disorientation from frame dips during a chase.

I never properly learned how to counter 360s because of the poor performance on PS4, it's just don't lunge (like Dead Hard), right? I think there was a couple of other counters but I don't remember them.

So you thank BHVR that they have/had one of the worst optimized games in gaming history for over 4 years and they just waited out to let it getting fixed by the hardware of next gen consoles?? This is just laughable. In conclusion this means they did actually no improvements regarding the code and engine. I still can remind when they did that big optimization announcement years ago, it was just empty promises.

I'm beginning to think that the poor state of PS4 and XB1 wasn't because they didn't care, but they were just inexperienced. This is their first big console multiplayer game and I think this is their first game on those consoles. When the current gen console dev kits started being sent to devs, they used their experiences with PS4/XB1 when developing the PS5/XSX versions of DBD and it paid off big time. The game looks gorgeous now.

Wait you've played on the PS5?! Tell me more please!!! Is it much better than PS4?! Would like to hear more. Thanks for the comment! ❤️

I’ve only looked at the loadout screens but the graphics are outstanding.

@TheClownIsKing can probably tell you more as I think he’s played some matches on it.

  • The PS5 version looks AMAZING. I was in awe when it finished downloading. I just wish it wasn’t counted as a separate game so my trophies could cross over. Honestly I’d go as far as spending a couple dollars to have my trophies cross over. I REALLY don’t want to start all over again. Adept Nurse was hell back when Adepts meant a 4K, so it’s going to be even worse now that you have to double pip.

    Has it finished installing?

If so, either scroll down from the DBD icon fro the main PS5 hub page, or if it’s not there, find DBD in your game library and push cross.

There should be a box over on the right. It’ll either offer a free PS5 upgrade or it will advertise some DLC or add on. If the free PS5 upgrade option isnt there, perhaps it isn’t offered for the disc version for some strange reason?

It’s there and I already upgraded, but I was wondering if you could switch between PS4 and PS5 (which you can, I checked it out for myself).

Both versions have installed and holy crap the PS5 version looks amazing. Shame about the trophies being reset though.

  • I just got mine and when I inserted the disc for DBD, it gave me a “copy” button instead of download. Does this mean I’ll be able to switch between the PS4 and PS5 versions of DBD?

Also there is a free PS5 upgrade option for me even though I have the disc and I am really excited, especially if I can switch between PS4 and PS5 versions at will.

  • My first Killer match was Nurse on MacMillan back in September 2017 during the first console free trial. I had no clue how to play so I had to camp a David to death.

My first Survivor game was in December 2017, a couple of months after I had bought the game. I wanted to start playing Survivor so I could see how they played. The match involved me looping a Freddy for a couple gens only for him to hook me after the gates were open. My teammates started tbagging me from the gate (I looked at their auras). Having some Killer experience, I knew that Freddy couldn’t attack for 7 seconds, so I was almost yelling at my teammates to rescue me. I was hoping one of them would figure out what to do, but no one did. They either just didn’t know about his weakness (which is understandable) or were trying to be #########.

There's several ps4 games I've seen that are doing free upgrades with the ps4 disc. Maneater is one of them and they're from Tripwire which according to wiki only has 87 employees so I don't think it's a Sony thing. Could be that the game just came out in May but they pushed back switch release to focus on making the Next Gen transfers go as smoothly as possible.

Yeah I know about other games doing free upgrades with the disc, but BHVR’s FAQ said that you couldn’t get a free upgrade through the disc, yet Sony’s description and now other experiences are saying that you can. Two official sources saying two different things.

Also Tripwire only has 87 employees? I thought they were bigger.

It seems I'm able to get the PS5 version even though I played with a disc on PS4. I was given the option to download it on PS5.

I honestly can't remember if I bought it again digitally at one point, or maybe when it was free for Plus subscribers. I don't see why I would've bought it again. All I remember is playing with the disc on PS4.

Can you switch between the PS4 and PS5 versions without losing anything? The reason I’m asking is because I have most of the trophies on the PS4 version and don’t want to lose them.

  • Ok now I’m confused again. Look at the second sentence of the last paragraph.

    1E989B85-EB89-4AF9-8BA0-419D569CAFE2.png

It sounds like Sony themselves is saying that PS4 disc copies can be upgraded to the PS5 digital edition but I have to put in my disc every time I want to play. Did something change with Sony or am I reading this wrong?

  • Devotion 3 level 67, have no clue how long I’ve played. PS5 is supposed to show your playtime so maybe I’ll find out once mine comes in.

  • Now this was pretty nice.

Freddy not being in the PS5 version other then a license issue. makes no sense at all. As someone who has all the DLC on PS4 and PC. It should not be an issue with something I already own. I'm not demanding it change and it may never. However my argument is this. If the license expired the following should not happen.

    • I should never have to face Freddy on PS5 period
    • Badham preschool should never be a map on PS5
    • I should never play with a Quinten on PS5.

The idea that the license expired so I can't play as Freddy or Quinten on PS5 but playing on his themed map and against him is still allowed thanks to cross platform play? He's technically still in the game. so as person who already owns him I should have access to him. I can understand new players not being able to use him but since it's the same account I should be able too.

the same goes for anyone on switch

Wait, Badham is gone too? Hell yes, that ######### can stay far away. Bring Freddy and Quentin back though.

  • The game should be doing well enough to lower the prices. The problem is that people gobble up cosmetics without thinking most of the time, which tells BHVR that people are fine with those prices. Personally, I’m very selective with the cosmetics I buy. They have to be really good for me to drop $10 on them. The Iridescent Shard prices are also way too high for rare and very rare cosmetics. If it was up to me, cosmetics would be 400 cells/5500 shards at max and all common cosmetics would be free (they’re just basic recolors).

  • You have to log in with the same account that you used for the PS4.

    @ShadowRain said:

Did you log in with the same account you used on PS4? Did you own the digital or physical version on PS4?

Digital or physical doesn’t matter for cross progression. That’s only for the PS5 upgrade (improved visuals and stuff like that).

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/205512/clarification-for-disc-ps4-to-ps5-upgrade

I don't have all the answers, I believe the issue is if you have a Disc version of the PS4 you would need the disc version of the PS5 in order to be able to upgrade for free. AFAIK you can't upgrade for free from a disk version to a digital one.

If you do buy an additional copy of the game on PS5 your progress should still be there as long as you are using the same account.

Thank you for your reply. I’m glad to hear from someone who has a closer connection to the devs than the rest of us.

Do you know when we can expect a disc version for PS5 to come out? Or at least who knows the answer to that?

Regarding trophies, is there any way that they can also be transferred? From what I’m reading DBD on PS5 is recognized as a separate game so trophies aren’t carried over. As a trophy hunter, it really hurts me because now I have earn all of them again (and some of them were pretty hard like Adept Nurse and Plague). I have most of the trophies in DBD so it would be a big setback.

  • He always was fun to face.

  • That’s amazing! I’m so glad that PS5 seems to be our savior.

I do have a couple of questions regarding PS5 DBD:

    1. Are you using the digital or physical? This is important because physical PS4 copies aren’t eligible for an upgrade and I’d like to know if I can expect to have the same performance as you are (or at least similar to yours).
    2. Do you really have to earn all your trophies again? I really don’t want to have to go through the hell that was Adept Nurse and Plague. Nurse was hard enough with the old Adept requirements.
  • So how’d it go? Is it worth buying the game again to take advantage of the PS5 upgrades or should I just stick with the PS4 version?

  • @NomiNomad said:

I'm not sure how much control BHVR has over this, it could easily just be Sony holding them back. Do we even know if DbD is getting a disc version on the next gen?

This definitely sucks, but I'm not sure it's BHVR's fault. As others have pointed out, it seems like discs are gonna be phased out in favor of digital. Big, collectors editions would probably just have codes.

I think something happened between Sony and BHVR. First PS4 DBD is excluded from the Hallowed Bounty giveaway (the one that had the grand prize of 1080 cells a week for a year) and now this.

However, there is something that makes me think this is on BHVR and not Sony. There’s a bigger demand for the disc version of the PS5 (so big that most retailers were only getting a couple digital editions when restocking), but DBD doesn’t have the free upgrade for the disc version, only the digital. This decision is already a stupid one, but it’d be even stupider if Sony was the one who made it because the majority of their customers still want to use discs. Maybe BHVR’s numbers show that more PS4 players have it digitally rather than physically?

    @DetailedDetriment said:

If you own a disk, you simply cannot upgrade. Anyone who owns the digital version of the game may be able to upgrade depending on where they live.

I’ll still be able to play it, right? It’ll just be a downgraded version without things like haptic feedback? I’d prefer to not have to switch between consoles just to play DBD.

EDIT: Also if I buy an additional copy of the game for PS5 (whether it be physical or digital) and play on the same account, I’ll still keep all my progress, right? I just want to make sure I won’t have to start all over again. The grind is too much.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Disks are getting the shaft next gen. They're going to aggressively try to phase them out.

They make you pay more for digital copies despite being unable to trade or borrow, and not even shipping costs justify the prices anymore.

I seen Asscreed Valalala for $10 less as a physical copy than digital. But next gen you're going to need to pay $100 more to get that option.

Well that’s going to suck. I’ve always preferred physical to digital because of the extras I get with physical special editions and I actually own the game. If something happens to my account then I don’t to have to worry about losing access to my games. I can just pop in the disc and there it is.

I thought Valhalla had a free next gen upgrade even if you bought a physical standard edition. Did they change that last minute?

  • Do you have a physical or digital copy? Physical copies aren’t getting a free upgrade while most digital copies are (depending on your region).

Except when a clown throws a bottle at you and you move very slowly and you get exhausted. And then the clown keeps throwing a bottle at you any chance he gets and can easily catch up. So obviously you don’t know a thing of what you’re talking about. We are talking red ranks here, not little boy green ranks buddy. You’re a bad troll

Exhaustion doesn't go down in a chase so only one bottle is necessary. He's throwing those extra bottles to catch up quicker, which would mean your problem is with Clown more than the add-on. Honestly it sounds like you ran into a lot of Clowns with this add-on and you're taking your frustrations out on the forums.

Also a lot of red rank players would agree that you shouldn't rely on Exhaustion perks to do good as Survivor.

  • Can't you just yeet Victor and open the gate he's blocking? Charlotte doesn't have any movement speed abilities so it's not like she can rush over there after Victor gets yeeted. Even if she keeps using him and the EGC is not active, you'll still make progress on the door and other Survivors can body block him.

  • Either Resident Evil or The Last of Us. I would love to play Nemesis in a game that isn't on its last leg (REsistance).

  • If base regression was better it would be more useful outside of combos with Ruin.

  • Freddy is very powerful, but can still be dealt with. These changes are unnecessary and definitely not the way to go if we change Freddy.

Also every Killer has the same lunge, Freddy's just looks longer because of how small his weapon is. The people complaining are uninformed, and we shouldn't nerf a Killer because of that.

  • Spirit, Freddy, and Deathslinger.

Personally I hate Hag, Trapper, and Ghostface the most.

  • @JordanMalicious said:

They have yet to put a breakable wall in killer shack, this makes me unhappy.

For some reason Dead Dawg Saloon is the only map that has a breakable wall in the shack and it's so weird. What's so special about Dead Dawg's shack that requires it to have a breakable wall? Why not give it to the shacks on other maps?

  • Exhaustion add-ons are still in the game to force you to rely on your skill and not a perk to survive. If you need an Exhaustion to survive chases, then that's entirely on you and you deserve to be punished for it. Clown, Huntress, Pig and Demogorgon should keep theirs and Doctor should get his back somehow. I wouldn't mind if every Killer had a way of inflicting Exhaustion on Survivors. It'll separate the actual good Survivors from the ones who get carried.

  • It's a good idea but Survivors will abuse it to avoid facing Killers they don't like, even though they aren't scared of that particular Killer. Nurses and Spirits will unfairly suffer because they're the two strongest Killers in the game. Imagine wanting to play Spirit because she looks cool but a lot of people have her filtered out because of her strength so you have wait 20+ minutes for a single match as her.

  • I wouldn't mind so I can know what to expect from my teammates. Looking at their trophy count only does so much.

  • I had this as Doctor and PH. I didn't feel like I was being teleported backwards, but rather moving much slower (like somewhere between 95% and 100% instead of 115%). It really demotivated me from playing for at least a couple of days.

  • @hurryingok said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/205032/the-devs-are-at-it-again-with-breakable-walls

The devs have shown that they take data to be the only reliable information to base balancing decisions on. On average across all ranks, a little over two survivors typically die in a trial. So they are looking for soft nerfs for all killers. That's why they have breakable walls that create infinites.

They only use the stats when they want to. They said not to draw conclusions from them when talking about buffing or nerfing a Killer but used their stats to justify leaving OoO in its current state.

They need to start showing us stats that take into account as many variables as possible. These stats that are just quickly taken for a stream are just making things worse.

  • When it comes out on PC around the beginning of December. All platforms are supposed to get new chapters at the same time.

  • I might have to. When I play Survivor, I main Laurie because of her role in the Halloween franchise. Unfortunately, I think too many Killers look at me and go "OBJECT. DS. DIE." because I've had more than a few Killers go out of their way to kill me even if I'm looping them for too long. Recently I had a Blight that wanted me so bad that the other Survivors had to throw themselves at him because they wanted to get chased. I have DS equipped for this exact situation but I rarely get to use it (I have DS on all my Survivors specifically for this situation). I've been thinking about switching to David or Meg or waiting for someone from a franchise like Resident Evil or The Last of Us and hoping that people don't hate their perks.

  • I think the devs know that we don't like them and that they're bad game design, but they love them too much to only put one or two in good places, so they throw them in undesirable places and then refuse to acknowledge our feedback.

    @chieften333 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1741323#Comment_1741323

The devs literally stated they wanted the walls to favor killers, not survivors.

The fact that you have to break it for a loop to be bearable is terrible usage of them.

Wait when did they say that? That makes this whole situation funny as hell because the walls are being used to recreate infinites or god loops.

  • Well, this didn't age well at all.

  • Victor aged, he just didn't develop.

  • Like 10. I haven't felt like playing the game that much lately with the bugs and horrible event.

  • They look really cool. I can't wait to see their power and perks!

  • Original: Doctor.

    Licensed: Myers or Pyramid Head.

    :)

Unbreakable isn’t that fast and insta heals don’t do that anymore. You also can’t use items while downed.

These guys got into an unintended map, there’s no way around that.

  • I hate how many loops are junk tiles where you just run in a circle because of how low the mindgame potential is. It's not fun at all. I also don't like Midwich (and hate seeing Midwich offerings) for that reason. My idea of fun isn't running in a circle waiting for the game to start a chase.

  • To advertise their channels.

  • @MadLordJack said:

None of these are accurate. Many PC players (myself included) still have serious frame rate issues because it's a game issue, not a hardware issue. Console players can increase their screen gamma the same as PC players, trust me, I've seen it and done it, the results depend entirely on your hardware. Both stretched resolution and third-party software are cheating and shouldn't be included, in fact the same can be said for increasing screen gamma. And the whole sound thing, whilst somewhat accurate, is still achievable as a console player by using a good headset that allows you to adjust your audio settings.

Are you on a lower end PC? Honestly I haven’t seen a lot of PC players complaining so I just assumed that PC was mostly fine or that most people had a higher end PC. Maybe I’ve just been missing them.

Also even without the PC issues, it was obvious that this isn’t a hardware issue. The PS4 and XB1 base models can play more demanding games with little to no issues. This might be because it’s a PS exclusive and easier to optimize, but I had God of War III Remastered fully download in seconds and it loads in around 4 seconds. That’s something I’d expect from the PS5, not a base PS4 that’s over half a decade old!

    @TicTac said:

Did the Devs ever address the advantages PC players have over console players?

Yes they know. They asked about it in the newest survey.

They’ve known for years. Have they done anything about it? Not really. We’re relying on next-gen to save us.

  • I'm convinced that the Archive team either has no clue how DBD is actually played (do they expect everyone to be all friendly and help out with challenges?) or the Archives are a testing ground.

Tome 3 level 3 had a challenge that wanted you to get two gen grabs in a single game while running Discordance. It wouldn't be so bad if grabs actually worked.

The last Tome had a challenge that needed you to escape as the Obsession, which is something that is completely up to RNG. Unsurprisingly, people didn't like that. Guess what the devs did for level 2 of this Tome? They brought it back. All of the feedback on it was just tossed out the window. The only challenges that they listened to feedback to were the get kills with NOED/get safe unhooks during EGC. I think they also looked at a couple of the hook challenges, but those were just reward errors.

Simple challenges like stunning Killers or getting Obsession kills sound good on paper, but they can easily be abused. I've had Killers start acting so scared of pallets that they'll give up a guaranteed hit just because they don't want to be stunned. I'm having to resort to locker DS to get some of these stuns, which hurts me. When I was doing the Obsession kill challenge, nearly every Survivor would refuse to stun me after seeing the first Obsession switch. I had two Survivors straight up choose death rather than stun me. In the end I had to use Moris to get this challenge done.

  • @MrsGhostface said:

So do you guys want a rework or not?

We do, but we're worried that the devs will treat Ormond like MacMillan and ruin it with breakable walls that you have to kick if you don't want to deal with infinites.

  • They don’t really care about console. It’s just a cash grab to them. I’m close to giving up hope for a better console experience. If next gen can’t fix the problems, then we might just have to accept that our version of DBD will never be fixed.
