Not really mad because of the perks its just how their playing. I am a killer main all the way I fully understand that side of the game. I just wanted to help a newer player enjoy the event not even a full survive with friends just a duo. I am annoyed because their just camping people with the crowns for some reason. I would unhook and try to fully bodyblock but they would only go after people trying to participate in the event, yesterday it was dbd as normal today it was just bad manners after bad manners. camping, tunneling ect I even did some games where I would avoid the crown to see if it made a difference and it really seemed to. I am all for play how you want but anyone who has been a member of this community knows how to play fun and knows how to go all out. I just don't get why so many people are playing it like a tournament suddenly. It may have just been bad luck but I am a bit disheartened at some of the behavior I have seen other killers showing survivors today.

Yeah it’s so bad mannered when half my games are key SWFs using 12+ second chance perks.

Like it barely registers with me why I would play killers without a 1 shot right now. Keys have no counter other than lethal persuer and camping whoever you get to dead on first hook. That’s how the games have to go if you want to beat a key hatch offering SWF.

  • Wait, wait. What’s that? Survivors can get 3 gens done in 2 minutes and then escape through the hatch with a predetermined spawn location? Nerf the pig. DS Unbreakable is fine.

Ok but if youre using it to zone then youre hitting them with m1...so then stbfl is now a goid perk on him. The survivors dont have to be amazing to avoid the skill shot, its not that difficult. Which leads us back to zoning and the m1 meta and back to stbfl and tinkerer.

It only happens sometimes. Other times they get desperate and vault the window in front of you. You use M1 and M2 equally and thus M1 perks are suboptimal.

Surge? God it’s so bad. Run it for the memes maybe. STBFL? You have to tunnel in red ranks. Maybe the survivor was never tormented and now you lose the perk slot. Ideally you are downing with pure M2 anyways.

  • @Edgars_Raven said:

His weakness is holding m1 for a reason, landing that shot isnt easy since its telegraphed so hard. Especially in a stretched res environment. Stbfl and tinkerer are good perks on a hold w killer imo

Nah. If the survivors are amazing you use it for zoning more than shots. But M1 perks are a huge waste. If you are gonna run STBFL you might as well play wraith instead of a killer with a skill shot.

I just want to add on Im all Ears. The idea is if your chasing someone and the fast vault a window. The perk highlights their aura so you can try to get a range attack when you wouldn't normally be able to see them.

But it’s just not good enough. Most of the time you want to make the shots behind a wall anyways, no vault needed.

Otherwise the survivor is more likely to dodge when you Telegraph the attack. It has such a massive cooldown for 1 attempt at an M2; when once you are experienced and have enough map knowledge you should be making those prediction shots without it. I’d only run that perk on nurse.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

My usual go-to on PH is: Ruin + I'm All Ears + STBFL + Surge

If you wanted to swap in BBQ for tracking/BP, then I'd probably drop STBFL for it. Though he does use STBFL quite well due to having a lethal special attack.

I highly recommend trying I'm All Ears on him, it's one of the best perks to use with his power.

Ruin and Surge are just nifty because kicking gens is too much of a time-cost.

Nah M1 perks are a waste if you are good with using his power. You only use M1 perks if you can’t land his M2. Against good survivors you have to rely on M2 and any M1 perks become irrelevant.

  • I do ruin, pop, discordance, tinkerer. Nurses? Eh. It’s not good enough without a mangled effect and Pyramid doesn’t want to run sloppy. You can tunnel cages fine without it.

Infectious assumes the survivors are bad. Only a very small handful of killers can use it into a very good team. Pyramid isn’t really one of them, he is too slow.

Lethal persuer might be good but I find discordance to be incredible with tinkerer to gauge which gens are worth going to protect.

  • I mean he’s definitely not the worst. Plenty of loops are free downs for him and he’s got some pretty good addons.

I just slap bamboozle on him so you don’t get stuck looping strong tiles too long and he’s pretty good. Trick blades let you spam in the survivors general direction and get downs.

I have 58 achievements on DBD; a mix of survivor and killer ones. Probably not much compared to people on this board, but like i stated i have 170 hours in the game.

I think its how you play as a killer.

I never face camp when the exit gates are not powered yet; even when all 5 gens are done at most I would proxy camp.

I don't tunnel a sole survivor on purpose, hit them on hooks, or leave them on ground to bleed out. I don't even run NOED because I personally think it's cheap.

If someone DC's early in the match, i try and give the last person the hatch, etc...

Yeah I don’t do any of that. I play to win, every game.

I have played enough survivor to know they don’t need to be babied. If survivors want second chances they can equip them.

  • @PsychoTron said:

    that's unfortunate.

I've been playing DBD for 170 hours so far and no negative comments.

No negative comments in my 16 years of having steam and having my profile fully public since day 1.

Then you must not play killer a lot. I probably got 15 -reps this month alone.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Yeah, I've never understood camping...well...ever but ESPECIALLY now. I suppose there are some killers who end up getting a ton of points for it as survivors are probably overly altruistic right now for those sexy sexy stacks (and altruism points) but still.

See also survivors who gen rush and sprint out like if they die in the game, they'll die in real life

But I can't control how others play so whatchagonnado? Some men (and women probably) just want to watch the world burn.

    500k for logging in?

    500k in tombstone pieces

Aw yeah let's give massive shits on people for playing who they want to play, and even bigger ones for those who just want to play with friends!

Oh I don’t mind, you can do whatever you want. I’m more annoyed at the developers for not balancing the game better.

But every good player in this game should know what the broken BS is and all three of those are right up there.

Doesn’t mean I have to worship them like half the community does. “Omg they can play Nurse!” when 4 years ago the game was Nurse by daylight. It’s not impressive at all to me sorry.

  • People drastically overestimate how hard she is to play.

There’s 3 types I people I have no respect for in DBD:

Nurse mains, spirit mains, and survivors who only play in 4 mans. All are super easy mode to an experienced player.

  • Oh and let’s not mention the survivors having essentially ~4 health states~ with an exhaustion perk like SB or DH.

  • He really is a worse PH though. Nemesis has to basically quickscope survivors.

The tentacle is finicky around lots of loops, you will place it dead on target and the game is like “nah you hit that barrels invisible hit box that’s jutting out”.

Every time I miss a PH attack I know exactly why. Nemesis I’m feeling robbed half the time.

Zombies have a penchant for being useless, caging survivors is super useful almost no matter what.

  • Dump save the best for pop, for your sanities sake.

  • 85B8591B-02F6-42E5-A8F2-A0EE99782705.png 8F949EDA-1BFE-42AC-BB87-E5FB428F7645.png

I want to say one of these two. The first is instakills from stealth at 130% movespeed, not much scarier than that if you care about living in DBD.

The second your location is instead hidden by a ~50m terror radius and knockout, but you find more survivors through infectious while they have no idea where you are coming from. It can be a bit hard to get it rolling though but once you are there it’s one of the scariest builds in the game imo

  • Pretty annoying for how easy he is to play. Some addons definitely need to be looked at. Silent bell, all seeing blood, and to an extent map wide bell are just not needed anymore.

Without spine chill he has no counterplay on plenty of maps. He just uncloaks behind a wall and unless you have sprint burst you take a hit because the lunge is so long. It’s not scary, it’s just no skills needed unavoidable damage.

I won’t even get into the “cloak at every pallet because the lunge goes around the entire loop and then instantly break them with shadow dance” builds.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Been playing Nemesis a lot more now, and the Infection state at the start really gives a lot of good comms teams the edge when it comes to pumping out those first few gens.

Yeah but once you get his power rolling it’s like quick scoping with deathslinger but you are moving at 115 and can break pallets with it. I didn’t like it at first but I’m quickly seeing how strong he is, especially with marvins blood to hit tier 3 very early.

  • @SweetTerror said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2314147#Comment_2314147

Personally I don't like to play with serious builds. Running the same old perks gets tiring after awhile, and I like to have fun so I'll mix it up from time to time. To each their own, but imo no one should be taking this game seriously.

Well that’s nice but at rank 1 I’m regularly pitted against meta SWFs and solo Q teams who will regularly finish 2-3 gens before corrupt intervention is over. I’d rather have good perks to deal with that.

It’s pretty easy to deal with flashlights by picking up facing a wall and being blinded at pallets or when you go to kick a gen is just a minor inconvenience to the killer.

  • They are annoying but I’d rather see them nerf some of the more ridiculous killer addons first.

There’s still quite a few “I win” addons the killer can equip that I think are more problematic since only a SWF will really be able to make a key super strong.

Solo Q having 2-3 people escape through the hatch is super rare. As opposed to a 5 gen slaughter because of rusty shackles, mother daughter ring, tombstone piece, award winning chili, etc.

  • I will never understand players who urban evade around everywhere when you can use spine chill and almost be 100% confident to AFK on gens or run around leaving tons of scratch marks. Especially if you have sprint burst so you literally don’t have to get off until the killer is right on top of you.

I have so many games where I’m being a gen jockey and can watch my team hide from the terror radius even though someone else is clearly being chased, obsession indicator and all.

  • I just don’t see where you ever fit that perk into a serious build. Pretty much every killer needs an early game perk, 1-2 gen perks, and at least one chase perk. The only killers who can really break from that trend are powerful enough flashlights don’t bother them anyways.

First, don't put quoted words in my mouth. I know what I said and how I said as it's there in plain text for everyone to see.

Second, you are trying to pose a strawman of me arguing that people should try and loop you and responding to that. I never once said anything about what people should or should not do. I stated that the killers' you named techniques that could be dodged, but if the person playing the killer is skillful they are going to limit your options and you're most likely getting hit.

Third, you keep saying these things are uncounterable, but as you said, making distance is the smart play. That's the counter, hun. People conflate counterplay with the concept of fully negating it in DBD and I don't understand why. Most counters in any game made decently enough are rarely full negations of what happens. When something is fully negated it usually comes at a cost somewhere else in the resource stack. Now you may not mean that and if you don't then it would be helpful for both of us if you'd elaborate on your thoughts on what you mean by uncounterable.

I can only work off either what you directly state or what the general responses in this thread and others on the same topic have presented. I also know that the forums are a vocal minority in terms of actual player base thoughts.

So people can stop complaining about it then. And accept that maybe they are not god gamers deserving of a 4K every game but that the game is a state heavily favoring killers outside of SWFs.

  • @ReikoMori said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2313569#Comment_2313569

With maybe the exception Huntress who throws beluga whales, you can dodge almost everything you've named with a little bit of practice. Most of the power based attacks are very linear, but at the same time if a player has put time into maximizing the way they use their power you should get hit. You're statement reads as if you're more upset that someone who has acquired skill is using said skill along with the power. Even though the power itself isn't unfair and through your own application of skill up to a point you could dodge it. I'm unsure how to interpret the Demo thing as he's extremely basic as his power is to just do basic attack while jumping. It's not like he can tunnel around loops faster than you can run it or leave entirely. There are many videos of Victors being juked and kicked, but if someone is playing skillfully then yes you most likely will get hit. That shouldn't be a complaint.

I will never understand why people get mad about people playing the game intelligently and making the most use of a killer's ability. Is that not what people want when they play a game?

Uhh I’m a Pyramid Head main, I’m not complaining about anything. I’m just stating the facts. I very rarely play survivor because you need a SWF to have fun as survivor these days and I prefer solo Q.

If I’m playing on point you are not looping me very long. We get to a window, I put the sword in the ground. You take the window, you get hit. You fake it, I bodyblock the window while canceling the M2 into an M1. There’s no real input from the survivors half the time. So why would they want to try and loop me instead of just physically getting as much distance as possible?

You are saying “ooo killer should be rewarded with uncounterable hits because they can aim” when most people playing this game probably play tons of FPSs as well.

  • @ReikoMori said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2313485#Comment_2313485

People getting hit through windows and pallets isn't a killer problem. Every killer's attack is a cone barring a few power modifications and the reason your getting hit through windows and pallets is because the game isn't in exact perfect sync between killers and survivors. When an attack happens near a survivor the killer can see themselves on top of you where are you're already through the window a good on your end. The server tries to split the difference between both sets of information and you end up getting hit as that is what it determines is the most reasonable outcome. Sometimes it can be the reverse where a killer "knows" they hit you, but the server's hit validation determines otherwise.

That’s not what I mean. I’m saying there’s a ton of ranged killers in the game now, a bunch who still chase you at 115 until they ready the attack, and who will literally collect free hits any time you go to use a pallet or window.

Pyramid head can follow you for like 8 seconds with addons with his sword in the ground, nemesis doesn’t even need to pull out his tentacle until the last second, Victor is impossible to dodge if the player is good. Slinger and Demo zone you by existing as well. If the killer is playing well most of them leave you little options other than to pre throw and get distance.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/261361/so-survivors-shouldnt-be-allowed-to-run-now

You're mistaking what people are saying. "Hold W" is literally that. People bypassing any tiles that you can loop them around. It's god awefully boring. Especially groups that do nothing but hold W and just take you to the corner of the map.

Where exactly is the fun of not even ATTEMPTING to loop and play mind games with each other...?

That’s like asking what is the fun of people playing killers like Nurse, Spirit, Deathslinger, Hag, etc.

There’s no looping. You see survivors and they go down without anything they can do if you are playing well. Or they step in a trap and you hit control for a free hit.

  • @TruEternity said:

It’s more about game design then an actual problem with the players who use the strategy. Most times you can buy your team more time just running to a corner and getting downed then trying to loop a tile, which is what people don’t like.

Well maybe they should stop releasing killers that hit through windows and pallets so survivors actually have some sort of defense against them other than holding W.

  • @kisfenkin said:

Detective's is definitely better. Seeing a totem as far from where you are now isn't always helpful in actually finding it, but seeing one right next to you is very hard to miss. Add in all the extras and Counterforce is only useful as a secondary to Detective's or Small Game. Though, you are hurting yourself more than any hex by running any of them, imo.

Yeah but think about the times you actually need a totem hunting perk. It’s usually right at the start, when no gens are done and ruin is alive. So detectives does nothing for you there.

When Devour procs, in which case you can’t use detectives to find it since you immediately need to stop working on generators.

Or when NOED procs, in which case they are probably equal although there’s no guarantee you will have found all the totems with detectives.

  • The MMR system is not activated right now. I also hate to tell you but camping and tunneling happens at every rank since it’s the optimal move to make in a ton of situations.

That’s why every survivor at high ranks usually has BT/DS although a lot of people stopped using DS after its nerf. If I’m playing survivor and the team gets 2-3 gens done in the first 2 minutes of the game I fully expect the killer to start camping and tunneling because that’s literally the only way they are going to have a chance to win.

Oh yeah, the RNG God can taketh away quickly

But the RNG God can also giveth just as quickly as you can make that same exact argument for the survivor side as I've had matches as the killer where it was a barren wasteland and therefore a slaughter and I've had matches where I'm pretty sure every single square contained those damn Double Ls and approx 5,000,0000,000 pallets...

And the strongest killers in the game don’t care about pallets for the most part. Nurse, Spirit, Phead, etc can get away with not kicking like 80% of the pallets in the game. Even clown barely has to kick anything but god pallets if he has good addons.

Im not a god tier gamer by any means but I still win like 95% of my killer games I want to say. Though to be fair I have over 4K hours so a lot of it is from map knowledge and decision making more than mechanical skills.

Most of the maps are pretty nerfed. It’s not like you will see 4x jungle gyms in a row on coldwind anymore. And then as survivor all it takes is 1 guy playing poorly and the other 3 die by default without really any input.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2312489#Comment_2312489

Granted, I am assuming the survivors I am up against in Red Rank are of equal skill as mine with the above post

Red Rank is just also filled with a LOT of survivors who probably don't really belong in Red Ranks. Maybe that's BHVRs way of balancing Red Ranks to make it viable for killers? 😅

Yeah but the killer powers these days are very strong and a lot of the maps are just barren. It doesn’t really matter how good the survivor is in a lot of cases. Sure you can load into Haddo or the game or something but then you can also load into like Azarovs resting place and have a 4 gen with 2 unsafe pallets to work with on one side of the map.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I've said it before and I'll say it again (and probably five thousand more times after that)

This game is killer dominant until you get to a certain point, then that bar swings so fast the other way you'll likely get a concussion from it

When you're a baby survivor, you are learning all the little tricks and trades of being a survivor. As you play more and more, you learn and figure out how to really take advantage of all these little tricks and trades. Eventually, once you've gotten a pretty good grasp of it, you start being able to make even the biggest baddest mother trucker killer out there look like a drunken toddler who had one too many juice boxes.

But all of those little tricks and trades can't really be removed because otherwise baby survivors would have no chance at all. I have no idea how you'd even begin to fix it unfortunately

I don’t think so. Once you hit a certain level as killer only SWFs will really beat you if you are playing with strong builds. When I play meta pyramid head, meta Bubba, even meta clown the games are usually a slaughter. I’m not even using Nurse or Spirit.

  • @MadLordJack said:

So, use a perk to counter a perk (inherently shite game design) but in such a way that you're doing a bigger favour for the killer by murdering your entire team because wasting time traversing and cleansing like that is deadlier than instadowns in the endgame?

I don’t think so, it’s definitely worth finding ruin. I had a SWF with 2x counterforces yesterday and my ruin undying was gone in about a minute. Doing it for NOED preemptively would probably only be worth it if your team is already winning and you can spare the time.

  • Because they don’t care about points? Veteran players are done with the perk grind by now, unless they want to level up new characters.

  • @Orion said:

Nobody is acting like that. Did you actually read the arguments put forth by the OP?

Uh, yeah. He says make every map dead dawg saloon and give every killer free save the best for last. Killers are ridiculously strong right now on all but some of the most survivor sided maps. It really doesn’t need to be made any easier for them.

Solo Q is an absolute blood bath at the moment. Half the maps have terrible loops and most killers that have come out ignore looping anyways. If you play the strongest killers with the strongest builds you should pretty much never lose to anything except a stacked SWF.

  • I think counterforce. Detectives hunch is nice and all but when you hit the ruin undying tinkerer killers you might not even be able to get the gens done to find the totems in the first place.

  • @GeneralV said:

This cannot possibly be all there is to Piggy, especially when this "decision" would never cross my mind, as I don't tunnel unless absolutely necessary.

But I suppose an alternate playstyle is not a terrible idea. Of course I don't even have perks for that, but it is what it is. Thanks for the suggestion, I will make sure to test it eventually.

Well pig is going to get slapped without chase perks, or it will be very painful even if you win. I’d never want to take enduring off her and usually have bamboozle. As an M1 killer you ~will~ be eating pallets a ton and depending on what rank you are at you can’t waste time respecting them.

I use monitor to close the gap faster since her stealth is largely useless. She is a killer I would consider NOED on since if the survivors get the bear traps off first try she literally just has no power and is the worst character in the game by a long shot.

I can’t really think of any advanced decisions to make as her. Put a head trap onto someone and slug them for pressure if you see two people at once? Use her built in insidious to camp a gen or a hook? IDK.

  • I guess I don’t get what you mean by “learning the killer” since pig is pretty much pure M1.

The only real decision to make is to tunnel head traps or not.

If you don’t have combat straps + video tape the lunge is useless at all but the shortest loops. And I would much rather use addons to pump up the head traps. You are already just playing an M1 killer and relying on luck so you might as well go all the way and have them kill people for you if you get lucky.

I usually just do monitor + 2 chase perks and just run around never crouching. Even if you have information perks to try and sneak up on gens she will get crushed by spine chill so it’s usually not worth attempting.

What would be the point of reducing map size if you just make killers slower again? We'd be right back where we started.

Because people play survivor because being chased by the killer is the only fun part of DBD and this guy is acting like he should be entitled to free easy downs regardless of the survivors skill level. We already have Nurse and Spirit for that, it doesn’t need to be every killer in the game.

  • Maybe if they gave survivors a viable way to break out of a chase entirely instead of just looping until they go down.

There’s no reason not to get as much distance as possible, since plenty of killers are borderline uncounterable once they close the gap.

  • Maybe run BBQ instead of insidious camping the basement?

    Replaced by:

Nurse, Nurse, Nurse, Nurse, Stridor Spirit, Nurse and Nurse.

As a killer you better play someone with an M2 Attack or have fun with survivors holding W.

At least back then we had better events, better atmosphere, Old Billy, Old Freddy, and the list goes on.

It was not perfect, but it was much better.

I don’t think so, I actually rarely run across nurse these days. Spirit is spammed along with Huntress but I usually see a decent amount of variety.

Old DBD red ranks was Nurse/Billy or killers running Moris.

Survivors were pretty much invincible with balanced landing and exhaustion recovering while running which is why you almost only saw Nurse.

  • @M1MASTER said:

Biggest things that contributed to make the game more boring for me are the Billy nerf, the reworked maps, and the new survivor animations.

The game just isn't the same without old Billy around and nobody wanting to play him anymore, a lot of the new realms look much more boring artistically and the vast majority of breakable walls are terribly implemented, the new survivor animations look way more stiff and clunky than the old ones; i really don't know how anyone could call them an upgrade.

I don’t know how people would think the game was better back then.

As survivor it was like Nurse, Nurse, Nurse, Instasaw Billy, Nurse, Nurse, Nurse, Nurse with Ebony Mori, etc.

As killer it was “lose entire perk slot to bamboozle every game” or have fun running the infinites.

Isn’t that the point of nemesis? He’s supposed to be unstoppable. But about the others I agree he should get buffed his mutation addons need to be base kit and they need to remove the speed boost when infecting people and lower the cooldowns on his attacks he’s to slow

I mean the killer in general is already unstoppable. I honestly hate going against someone like Oni because you can eat a blood fury without ever having taken an M1 and it’s borderline impossible to survive if the killer is good (especially with things like topknot / Akito’s crutch).

The killer should be strong but not like, oh I found you, you are dead with nothing you can do about it which is how a ton of killers have been coming out lately. The maps can be too small and killer tracking perks are way too strong for that.

What other game can you see streamers going on hundred+ win streaks regularly? These guys would barley pull a 2 k/d in something like CoD but they are suddenly gods in DBD? Heck no, solo Q is way too weak right now.

  • Idk the killer being unstoppable even if it takes a while to get there isn’t fun at all.

He needs something though, he’s pretty garbage right now. Three health states, a microscopic hit box that doesn’t line up with the animation, and zombies that spend more time attacking trees than survivors
