You know what happens the majority of time I run Devour Hope?

    It's broken before I get a single hook :D

Like other Hex Totems, it is High Risk High Reward. You could get a Hex that allows you to take out survivors incredibly quickly if they either ignored or couldn't find my Devour Hope Hex or you could play the entire game with three perks because a survivor spawned with the lit hex inside of them they were so close to it.

Personally even when it does come into play, it's very rare that I get to actually use it to Mori people. If it somehow survived me getting three hooks, the second people realize it's in play since it gives everyone a big EXPOSED warning, people drop everything and go find the Hex. Unless I'm just stupid lucky and the Hex is in a super good hiding spot, it's usually broken before I get to start murdering those meddling kids and their mangy dog...

To be fair, you should probably only run it with a map offering.

The games I do with DH Undying and some tracking perks usually come down to the wire and I’m relying on the totem to carry me.

The survivors can slam the gens so fast with no slowdowns; especially with you letting them be unhooked for free and not wanting to tunnel for fear of DS losing your stack momentum.

What do you mean? You can start to charge Pounce just outside of the audible range survivors can hear Victor, and if you use Cat’s Eye you can continue to creep forward completely silent.

Long range pounces are basically stealth play.

Well Twins are a killer I usually play with the best addons every game. It’s sooo hard to want to give up forest stew and toy sword to give victor more utility.

Both of those addons combined make him like twice as strong in a chase and way more enjoyable to play.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2352667#Comment_2352667

It’s probably the one perk I never remove from them because of how much value the Twins get out of it if Victor is immediately sent in the direction of a notification (if there isn’t anything else of high priority)

    So…

I just don’t see where the silent pounces fit into it. It’s really hard to justify anything except victor speed and pounce charge reduction.

  • So many “content creators” and I put that in quotes because the only true creators are the software engineers, intentionally depip to face easy opponents.

No ones complained but you. This isnt a post asking to take your right to 6 second switch away dont worry.

Then what is the discussion? Do you play different when survivors have certain items? Sure. I won’t pretend this isn’t a thinly veiled complaint about keys and maps.

But don’t act like the builds you are running are much better. That build is about as easy as it gets when it comes to killer.

    Pot meet kettle.

I read it. I just don’t think you are in a position to be crying about anything.

Wah wah the survivors swapped to good items when I’m running the strongest builds in the game oh noooo

  • Topknot Oni complains about balance.

    More news at 11

  • Let’s nerf one of the only perks in the game that makes stealth viable. Also let’s complain about looping.

The discussion is pointless since it’s long been shown the devs don’t care about feedback. They don’t even test their own game. Proof? This patch.

I used to avoid TTV's thinking they were all toxic, but I had one game with one and decided to go to his stream out of pure curiosity. I was surprised that he was rather nice and basically just having fun messing around with his chat.

In that game, I was using Infinite Myers for a challenge and we were on Fractured Cowshed, before the rework. The TTV was David and we also had a Meg, Claudette, and a Feng. The TTV had No Mither on and the moment I noticed I decided already that he was going to live no matter what. I figured he was going for Adept and decided to let him have it knowing how much of a pain David's Adept was for me. Throughout the game...Meg was....new to the game, Feng was a ninja...and any time I chased Claudette she ALWAYS brought me to one of the others or would unhook someone right in front of me. She CONSTANTLY did this to David. Meg Died cause of her in this way. The only reason I ever found Feng was when Claudette brought me to her. anytime I found David I downed him but left him there while I chased off one of the others. After finally finding and killing Feng it was only David left who got up due to No Mither and quickly found hatch. After the game I went to his stream to just say GG and that I decided to let him go. But when I got in there he was excitedly celebrating with his chat over his escape. Apparently someone in his chat said they would gift 5 subs if he could escape using No Mither, Self Care, and 2 other useless perks I don't remember. He was so proud of his escape I just didn't have the heart to ruin it...so I left without saying anything.

I learned not all TTVs are toxic. some are just trying to have fun while growing their own community, and it is the few that give them a bad name.

Nah. Anyone who signs up wants an audience for them playing video games. They think they are that good and/or entertaining.

I make my best effort to show the viewers they have that’s not the case by giving them as short and brutal of a game as possible.

It’s a sad day when I can’t even play a video game without someone trying to make money off beating me.

  • I made the decision not to learn him waaaay back in the day when he was a god. I played nurse instead.

Now? Why bother? You are punished for using your power and there’s killers who fill his niche better. Blight for mobility and Bubba for 1 shots.

He’s still really good if you can curve most loops but for the same meticulous skill other killers reward you just as much.

Well that's even dumber then. Is the TTV person thinking I'm going to be so intrigued by not being able to watch my match that I'm going to subscribe to them to watch them play against strangers?

Like... I've subbed to a handful of TTVs after watching my game with them and appreciating their personality/attitude in the game (I'm rarely ever actually watching anything but I have heard a high sub count helps them even if I don't watch) but that feels like you're hamstringing yourself even more than the normal hamstringing that is getting any traction on Twitch...

Oh I know. TTVs should be happy I’m taking time out of my day to watch them play a video game I could be playing myself.

But 10 year old kids with nothing better to do have empowered them to put those restrictions on things when they have like 5 viewers or something. Never respected streamers, never will. I hit that “don’t recommend this channel” button on YouTube a ton.

Twitch itself hardly interest me with its 4x ads in a row every 5 minutes. I’m good. I’d buy the stock and let the kiddies play.

  • Multiple times but that’s because I offer it…..omegalul

P.S. it’s not even the most busted survivor map anymore. Not even close.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I don't even get why they do that

Like...are they expecting I'm going to go to their channel later? I'm so disappointed that I don't get to watch my game that I'm going to be sitting around all day with my breath held waiting for them to come back so I can watch them play against strangers?

Subscribers only for the VOD my dude. Followers only chat.

  • Watch YouTube while I’m in Q or play survivor. Run the killer meta to keep gens under control.

Plenty of my recent games end with 0 or only 1 gen done purely because of ruin tinkerer, even though they came close to getting 3-4 done. Ruin is just that good, it only has to stay up a minute or two to do it’s damage.

  • @gendoss said:

Lightweight has always been an interesting perk for me and there are some people who swear by it but this perk is laughed at by most survivors. Do you guys think it's any good and is it worth running at all?

Not really. It’s decent if you have a head start on the killer with sprint burst, but there’s little reason not to use fixated or spine chill instead.

Fixated in particular let’s you run to a 3+ way junction and just stop leaving marks mid chase if you are somewhat ahead of the killer. Lightweight would never let you leave chases in the same way.

  • Strong killers are strong regardless of their perks? I would never have guessed.

  • Or just run pop ruin, and down someone at a gen and get 3 pops worth within the first 80 seconds of the game.

With tinkerer you can get like 8+ pops worth sometimes if you slug one tinkerer gen then move to the next. And you don’t even have to waste time kicking anything.

  • Easily? The game isn’t that mechanically difficult.

Even the most sweaty nurse main could probably be caught up to in around 100 hours. Half the killers play almost exactly the same.

That's for basically all of my killers. I have so much stuff with all of them that prestiging one would almost certainly cost me two digits worth of BPS and Cakes.

I've been prestiging survivors for funsy and I got really close with Leatherface since he's one of my main bois (until the event got him a bunch of new cakes) but I'm not all that sad about it.

I always rock the bloody clothes. It gains you more respect in your games. You see a frosty eye nurse and it’s genrush city but you see the P3? Time to hide.

Double standards on both sides(Mainly on survivors because they are 4 times as likely to have someone with double standards in each game)

Tunneling/camping are the killer counter part to Gen rushing.

They are both ironically counters to and countered by each-other depending on who does theirs better.

While 3 gening is IMO the self induced counter part to pure stealth gameplay as they both are one side playing to stall for as long as possible. However getting 3 gened is almost entirely on the survivors for letting happen making is the least offensive of the two.

Maybe it’s because unlike most other games, you can’t really do anything when your team is losing in DBD. You hold M1 while your teammate gets tunneled out. Do they last long enough? It’s not your call.

You can have entire games decided with no input unless you offer yourself up to be chased at 5 gens which doesn’t work if the killer is playing someone OP.

It’s not like league where you can beat your own lane harder and win. There’s nothing you can do except wait until the team dies in plenty of cases.

Of course I still camp and tunnel the heck out of people because it’s optimal but that’s the reason.

  • I don’t think you will find too many people to sympathize with when your are running tombstone piece Myers lol. If the survivors outplay you during the instakill window, that’s your own fault.

  • @glitchboi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2349366#Comment_2349366

By that logic, old Bubba was OP with PWYF + Nemesis.

You seem to be forgetting the amount of time it takes to get 3 stacks.

Even then, the perk will remain the same as it ever was, it'll just allow more for PWYF on other killers. I don't think it'd hurt to make PWYF viable on other killers.

I don’t think it’s OP but it’s uncounterable. You get to 130% movespeed and collect your free down.

It’s the spirit problem but a little bit less annoying. It’s like oh the 130% movespeed killer saw me I just die. Amazing gameplay.

Id rather the killers use skill to get downs and not get free downs because they spent time farming some stacks.

  • @glitchboi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2349339#Comment_2349339

It's a bit difficult to get stacks on PWYF though. Nemesis makes it easier but you're sacrificing a perk slot for easier stacks. Plus, it consumes time to be able to get the stacks, allowing survs to do gens.

I just want this perk to be usable on all killers, that's all. It's one of my favorite perks in the game and I hate seeing it like this.

Why do you want to see completely uncounterable, 0 skill downs on every killer? That’s what 130% movespeed is.

  • Uh, it is a good perk? 3 stacks on a 1 shot killer is basically free downs. I don’t think free downs should be handed out lightly cough NOED cough

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

Could the game struggle even more though?

at the moment, on top of everything else the game is handling, it’s also processing 20 modifiers (5 x 4 perks), and who is/isn’t also affected by these modifiers.

This is what I usually try to run on him at rank 1. It’s the killer meta + bamboozle.

I like bamboozle because without it, chasing main buildings / strong structures can be game throwing if the survivors are good and at 110 you don’t want to be dropping chases often.

The tournaments that don’t even let survivors use meta perks? Lol. Yeah doesn’t hold much weight.

And it’s not like I care about those tournaments I used to spank Instant Dodge all the time back in the day. Some of those players are on Oracle now.

And as I said, map dependent. I doubt you will see Bubba winning on a map like “the game”.

I have seen countless threads and twitch chats talking about this killer and that killer being S or A tier. Here is the reality, based on high level play:

    Viable: Nurse and Spirit

Non-viable: the rest of the cast

Too many people base their opinions on a low level of play. The problem is that tier discussion based on people who don’t play the game at a high level is pointless. Against unoptimal players, any killer can win. It is pointless to put then in A or B tier when they all crush noobs.

Is this some low key way of saying you are amazing at the game because you play nurse?

News flash, anyone who can get to high silver low gold in league of legends can probably slay with nurse. So like 50% of the gaming player base. They just play more competitive games than this. DBD is casual and balancing it around tournaments sounds pretty cringe.

I dont use any slow down perk, ever. As Survivor I find it boring to do Gen longer than 400sec. Though I find some tense moments, or hiding is what make the game fun. So in exchange, I mostly use End game build, or full exposed.

Its about make people fail hope, than making them hopeless (which you dont want to play anymore)

I admit that I usually lost 2-4 Gen after done setting up

Corrupt is hardly a slowdown perk against good survivors. It’s more for zoning unless you pair it with other gen perks. I almost consider it mandatory on low mobility killers unless you are going for a ruin + early tracking build to make up for the 30~ seconds you lose for your first chase while 3 people slam gens.

Im not getting paid to play, I play for my own fun. I don’t need to follow the rules of people who get paid to play and need to gain viewers by being nice.

I dont think trap killer want that, especially Trapper (my main). You need your traps are unseen from anyone.

I rather to have them group up so I have more safe spaces to trap. Survivors spread out make it easy to see him setting from every angle

Consider that as long as 1 survivor decides to stalk you, follow and disarm traps right after you leave the trap. Youre M1 killer.

Well the offering probably won’t do much if you are running corrupt. Everyone will be funneled into the non corrupted area. It’s just less likely you run into multiple survivors straight off the bat and can’t set up a few traps.

I’ve had games as hag where I go to trap the furthest non corrupted gen right away and run into 2+ survivors and it’s usually pretty horrible. If it was only 1 you could probably chase them off and work backwards into the non corrupted area.

  • Only one I can think of off the top of my head is lethal pursuer Ghostface. He wants an easy and successful first stalk and multiple people around is usually bad for that.

Maybe the trap killers so they can set up in peace without being swarmed? But they will 100% need corrupt with it or they risk 3 gens in 2 minutes.

Nurse is arguably not the hardest killer to master.

She's the hardest to get good with, but arguably not to master. Blight is, in theory, harder to master, because he is forced to interact with everything on the map to get results. Furthermore, Blight players need to create a massive mental list of things they slide or bounce off of, and recall that at split second intervals when determining their pathing. Nurse is probably second behind him. Also, this is all debatable, but Blight has a good case insofar as mastery is concerned.

All that said, Nurse is certainly not braindead and is ONE of the hardest killers to learn, much less git gud at, much less master.

Nah I think it’s probably Blight, then Huntress, then Nurse, then...Billy maybe? Pyramid is up there too.

Huntress has easy hitboxes but in theory a god aimbot huntress is doing skybox shots 24/7 right?

I guess you can make the argument that the killer will eventually get you, and it's true but I've never had problems when it comes to looping killers, I pretty much loop them playing 'without ''run/hide perks'' and by that I mean that all my perk loadout is a support build (we'll make it, empathy, detectives hunch and such) rather than a ''run/hide from the killer build'' (perks like sprint burst or lucky break) and I do well most of the times.

I disagree with your statement that looping doesn't matter, when they chase me for the first time usually they leave me (when they see they can't catch me as fast as they want) and if they don't then 3 gens get done by the time they catch me, so I take that as a win for the team if we get 3 gens done for only 1 hook, it's pretty much a win for the survivors at that point, it's a good trade in my opinion.

I’m not saying looping doesn’t matter, I’m saying it doesn’t matter in a lot of cases.

You load into azarovs resting place and get 2 unsafe pallets on one entire side of the map. Looping doesn’t matter.

Theres 2 survivors left alive and the killer finds you, looping doesn’t matter.

The killer is Nurse or Spirit, Hag, Oni in blood fury with Topknot, etc etc looping doesn’t really matter.

The killer is Deathslinger, Trickster, Huntress etc etc and you only have loops they can just throw/shoot right over. Looping basically doesn’t matter.

Sure it matters if you have your team alive, there’s good pallets to use, and the killer is playing someone who can be looped but that’s a really big assumption.

  • @Ink_Eyes said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2337064#Comment_2337064

Yes but if you want to waste 4 perks on a survivor for a single purpose then I'd advise you to get better at looping instead, any killer will leave you if they see that you are a good looper and they can't catch you, most killers leave me after the initial chase when they notice they can't catch me and I can focus on using other perks instead of having to use a full perk load out that tries to solve a single problem and it isn't even guaranteed that it will completely solve it in the first place...

You could say the same thing about DS. But the reality is, how good you are at looping doesn’t even matter half the time in this game. You can get bad RNG, you might be one of the last survivors alive, the killer might be playing someone like Nurse, etc.

The only perk you need for looping is dead hard anyways although I prefer sprint burst. Other than that your perk slots as survivor are pretty much disposable unless you want BT or Unbreakable or something (which I don’t feel the need to run usually).

  • @Ink_Eyes said:

My opinion on this perk as both red rank 1 survivor and killer is that it tries to solve a problem that doesn't really exist. I almost never follow/chase someone based on blood or scratch marks, I have a good headset so I base my chases on sight, experience and the third option is sound, when I get blinded for example I keep chase by listening to the survivor (the sound they make when they breath when they run) and by experience (I take a look around and see what good spots are nearby and think which route the survivor took based on my survivor experience as well) when you get used to it you can even tell when a survivor is hiding inside a locker without even being injured.

Iron will is a good example of this, despite the fact that you leave scratch marks and pools of blood with iron will a good killer can still lose a survivor if they don't make a sound, the complete opposite of what happens with this perk, a lot of killers base their chases on sight/experience and sound, not on blood or scratch marks, some times I happen to stumble upon some scratch marks and follow them to get a general idea as to where survivors are but those are some minor instances.

You know you can use them both at the same time right?

Iron will, lucky break, quick and quiet, inner strength and you can just straight up jump into a locker and heal mid chase. I’d probably offer with an indoor map while I’m at it.

  • Just watched the dead dawg game, you should really commit to chases more. Hitting people with sloppy and then walking away does nothing. You lost 3 gens for nothing basically.

You definitely don’t seem to respect pallets, which is good, but eat a ton of them which is bad without enduring.

When survivors are swarming the hook, you don’t want to walk forwards after you finish hooking someone. You want to moonwalk backwards in case they are hiding inside your model. The bill farmed that jake too easily.

You should also consider faking the shred more, it doesn’t seem like you do that so survivors were able to easily predict when to dodge.

  • I think you really want a gen perk. Sloppy isn’t really much of a slowdown on someone like Demo. He can only apply it on a regular M1 unlike many killers who M2 into an M1 hit.

It’s also rendered worthless by many builds these days. I’ve only watched the start of the third game and you are 100% gonna need Ruin, Pop, or Corrupt if you want to be swapping targets like you are on Demo. Corrupt is great since you at least have some time to get a portal or two up. Pop allows you to actually hold a 3 gen which is key on weaker killers a lot of the time.

I also don’t like Nurses for the same reason, demo isn’t going to be doing any hit and run.

I notice you don’t come around many of the loops aiming the shred at the right time. Pretty much any time the survivor is going into a straight away you should threaten the shred. One time you came around the corner to a pallet and charged the shred after the survivor already telegraphed they were going to throw it.

It also kinda seems like you are just chasing whoever instead of finishing someone off, which is a no no on weaker killers without gen perks.

You might wanna consider chase perks as well. You chased the shack for a while around a gen that was already completed when there’s no reason to be on that side of the map anymore. Many times you actually ran away from the gens to go chase survivors and then didn’t commit which makes no sense.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 25
