I think the best perk combo with it will be Retribution, because it's currently the only perk that will generate hex totems for you to get Retribution aura reading off of allowing to run other perks instead of a dedicated hex build.

It'll be a fun combo to use on someone like Myers who can instant down survivors.

I mean Myers doesn’t need it really, he can get to 8m with monitor and abuse for only 1 slot and it can’t be cleansed. The biggest drawback to that was object users having perma wallhacks on you but that’s been nerfed (thank the entity).

I think Bubba is actually the best stealth perk user; if he closes the gap on you it’s super brutal as the survivor and has way less counterplay than if Billy closes the gap on you.

  • @Crowman said:

Blindness blocks totem aura reading from maps and counterforce, so I see no reason why it wouldn't block Hex:Plaything.

Honestly not sure the combo is really worth it, because survivors are bound to find some lit totems even on maps like RPD when all of them are lit since even indoor maps have some obvious spawns.

If a good team realizes you have it, they will probably start doing dull totems and you might not actually get all 4 activations. Another reason it will probably be a bad perk to take into SWFs.

Im curious how it would do with Hex Undying, since that protects your dull totems a little bit and would mean the first survivor might have to do 2 of them to not be oblivious all game. Some other people have mentioned retribution which sounds decent too; but I think it just ends up being another medicore niche perk.

  • Probably super difficult to code unless the game was coded with a replay system in mind from the very start.

Given how every patch is super buggy I am going to assume they don’t have the time and it would be very low priority since they don’t get money for making it

Facecamp with Bubba until death then repeat x 800..yeah, still not that interesting.

He did it playing almost every killer in the game? Whatever floats your boat.

But I’m not trying to interest you. I’m trying to tell someone else that camping is a ~very~ effective strategy in this game and there’s an 800 win streak to prove it.

Zero sum? We don't even have official win conditions and comparing it to COD or any other PVP game is just insincere because there isn't really any game like this with the exception of a few dead/dying games. If I wanna commit the 'but a streamer said' fallacy, Otz counts a win as 3k or 4k, Scott says only a 4k. Some people count pips as wins, who got more points, etc etc etc. I have my own win conditions on both sides. So I don't think it's zero sum at all.

I go by the design of the game. A win is a 3k+. That’s how the game was for years until they came out with the emblem system.

The last survivor is designed to get a free escape through the hatch mechanic, unless you want to waste 4-5 minutes slugging every game.

Survivor? Pretty simple win condition too, survive. I don’t see how there’s room for debate on that one.

You could apply your logic to any game. A “win” for me in apex could be “make it to top 3” but guess what? I still died. Not really a win but I guess you would take it.

If you go into every single game and no matter what, above all else you tunnel one person, then you are a bad killer. You'll never learn to improve, you'll never learn to get better, you'll just always be bad. Now, maybe you just ranked up really quick and these survivors are just better than you and you can't manage them. Okay, fair enough. I hope MMR helps you, but if you do that badly enough you'll naturally derank as well.

There's nothing wrong with doing this when you know you really need to, but if you do it regardless of the skill, the amount of gens you have, or how much progress is in them, or whatever else, then again, you're not a very good player. I'm not going to pretend like survivors don't overract or act entitled, or play how they want, but let's not pretend that just because survivors are playing well that means they're terrible people sweating their balls off.

Sometimes you are going to lose, that's the nature of any game. I mean if guarantee you if you tunneled me all game I'd loop you for 5 gens, because no killer worth their weight will throw the game to chase me. But I suppose there's a lot of bad survivors that make this strategy work all too well.

I hate to tell you but every “competitive” DBD tournament has the killer hard tunneling; because that’s how you win. It’s physically impossible for a ton of killers to get 12 hooks while keeping everyone alive until the last 4 hooks.

The gens are done too fast, there’s too many safe pallets with no counterplay, and the travel times between gens are prohibitively long for all but a handful of killers. It literally doesn’t matter how good of a killer you are at plenty of safe loops, all you do is hold W until the pallet is dropped on your head. Some of the newer killers actually have good antiloop but there’s still plenty of M1 killers in the game.

He is not any better than any other experienced player. He has a different definition of what is a win vs loss. He only considers 0k and 1k as losses, which makes his streak much less impressive. He also won't play any killer that can't effectively camp/tunnel.

Uhh, a 2k ends the streak. He considers that a tie, which is not a win. That was 800+ 3-4ks in a row.

I see you're taking my "death of DbD" thing a bit too seriously. That was an exaggeration on my end. I meant it more akin to "ruin it for me". Regardless, the same arguments apply.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447816#Comment_2447816

Being voted out for no reason at all is kinda bs, though wholly caused by the game's reliance on (bluffing) eye-witnesses followed by sheep mentality. Those are entirely different reasons than why DbD sees so many campers. In AU, the other power to put a stop to it, yet they simply don't, either because they don't care, they think it's funny, or they've joined a bandwagon. Imagine if one survivor can say "kill that one", and have their aura revealed for the entire match.

As for your argument in Apex, I don't really see what we're disagreeing on there. It's shite, but at least in Apex, you (largely) have the exact same tools at your disposal. That means that you just as easily could have done it to them, provided you are skilled enough and if you were in their literal position. There's no equivalent of that in DbD.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447785#Comment_2447785

And that right there is the root of the problem. You, and so many others, simply cannot be made to care about the other players' experience. And that's not something I can possibly hope to change. Nor can I actually blame you for it.

But I have to once again ask if you've been the victim of this. Even beyond the logical aspect of it, it just sucks to be on the receiving end, that much you have to agree on? Hell, there are players out there who do it for that sheer aspect. I don't think you are that kind of player, but even so.

"Get better at hiding or get better at looping". So you're just saying "git gud"? If the killer's competent, and persistent, the survivor will get found, and they will go down. Skill will only delay the inevitable. Once they're on the hook, only their perks can save them. Teammates? Not in solo que, I'm sure you're aware of that.

You are right. They are my opponents in a video game. I don’t care if they have fun or not, because it’s a zero sum game. I don’t see how this is suddenly different from every other PvP game ever.

“Oh no, I’m owning too hard in call of duty and feel bad for using killstreaks” - nobody ever

If I want to play a coop game I will play a coop game

And yes I have been on the receiving end plenty of times, and sometimes I die and other times I will run them the whole game.

As a general rule of thumb you never really want to be the first person or the last person chased. The first person can get tunneled and the last person gets facecamped after the gates are open

Pretty close to mine. I do ruin pop for random maps though because I like always having a backup.

There's also some levels like the swap where it can't be help because they are huge.

I don't have all the killers or perks let alone thousands of hours so I can only do what I know pretty much.

As for camping like I said its a dumb strategy unless the survivors feed into it thats killing them selfs on hook. And if you camp me you going to have to put a tent up and chill because well be there for 2 minutes.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xwzCo3AAX5U

Id watch some of this guy if you have the time. He went on an 800+ win streak hard camping and tunneling every game and watching him for a while took my killer win rate to the next level.

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

I find 30-40 a little quick most the time given they normally get it can take the killer anywhere from 10-20 seconds to catch up depending on where they are. 60-80 is more responsible because the time it take to find the first survivor( assuming your not running lethal)

If you play a ton you will learn the spawn locations. Only a handful of maps have pretty random spawns.

And I do frequently use lethal pursuer or discordance; both of which can have you in your first chase in 10-20 seconds of the match starting.

60-80 seconds you will probably be in a really rough position if the survivors are slamming the gens. By then camping the hook isn’t really viable anymore and you will need to get people off the gens.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447722#Comment_2447722

Sorry, but I do take issue with this.

First of all, in your argument involving your friend, you fail to mention to your friend that the other player literally has no agency once they've been chosen. They will die, and there's nothing they can do. Yet they have to wait at least 2 minutes for them to actually kick the bucket if they want to give their teammates a remote chance, which they often don't. They either do the fair equivalent of a DC, or they literally cannot play the game.

Have you ever been the victim of this? Only when you're a very skilled survivor can you actually extend the 2 minutes by any meaningful amount. The vast majority of survivors is not that, leading to them having a miserable experience, after which they're sent straight back to the queue, with a meager amount of BP. And for what? Because they got unlucky. They were the 1/4 that had to be denied the entire match because of your desire to win said game.

I know empathy for your opposition cannot be asked for, and I am guaranteeing you don't give a flying ######### about any of this. But holy mother of Moses, is wanting a healthy environment for all players so much to ask?

It’s not really my problem though is it? It’s a PvP game, they can play better.

The only logical reason I have to not tunnel survivors is because they are making the chase too costly. If they are going down really fast too bad, get better at hiding or get better at looping.

You don’t see people on the CS:GO forums complaining they are getting wrecked and have to wait to respawn all the time

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

How long does it normally take you to find and down a survivor from the beginning?

Probably about ~30-40 seconds depending on the killer and build. I consider a bad early game 60+ seconds and a terrible early game 80+ seconds

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447722#Comment_2447722

It takes you 2 minutes to camp a survivor to death thats plenty of time for them to finish gens and get out. At worst they need to open the exit gate and with 3 survivors its not to hard.

I mean most of the time they are half state before corrupt intervention is over. The gens are not even available to be done when I’m typically in a position to be killing someone off if the early game goes well.

I will gladly trade 3 gens for 1 kill every game, because pop goes the weasel carries super hard in a 3v1 3 gen situation.

I run moris all the time still, so if someone is camped to half I can finish them off quickly. I hit BT as they come off the hook so if they try to locker DS me they run out of mend inside the locker and fall out into being mori’d.

  • @Inspire said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447722#Comment_2447722

And what do you do when that survivor you tunnel ends up running you for the entire game. Because anytime I try tunneling they just pre-drop every pallet and all the gens fly by.

Well I have a lot of hours so that doesn’t really happen often. On killers I am less confident with I stack up some chase perks and that’s all I need. On all but the strongest killers I usually have at least 1-2 chase perks on.

If the survivor is really good and goes to an area that’s very strong, I leave the chase. I know all the tiles so I can tell when I should not be in a certain area if I can avoid it.

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447690#Comment_2447690

I was talking about gen rush and tunneling they are both doing objectives effectively. Camping is a dumb tactic and will lose you the game unless survivors feed the camper

That’s definitely not true. I win the overwhelming majority of my killer games at red ranks using this basic strategy:

    1. Get an early hook before corrupt is over
    2. Secure the nearest 3 gen to the hook, or it’s already secure depending on where Corrupt still is
    3. Camp/Tunnel the first survivor to death
    4. Snowball in the 3v1, through slugging, if too many gens got done during #3

I literally camp and tunnel every game of DBD I play, and I will stop doing it when it stops working

  • I have had one with 3 once, like a year ago on crossplay off PC. Went back to crossplay pretty quick lol

I tunnel mori’d the random with a prenerf ebony as spirit and they all instantly turned the hacks on and said it was “justified” in postgame chat

My experience has typically been the survivors don’t care if there is a cheater on their team and will even side with them if you were tunneling or camping

  • I don’t even see why it’s shunned or people feel the need to apologize for it.

If the survivors want to get all the gens done in 5 minutes, then the killer can get the kills done in 2 minutes.

It’s funny because my friend, who doesn’t even play this game, doesn’t understand it either. I was showing him some of the salt on my steam page and this is the conversation…

After his buff, Clown's a heavily underrated chase-oriented killer. The antidote is very useful for closing in some distance to counter holding W, and his anti-loop is pretty good.

I was gonna come in here and say clown too lol. Now that I’ve gotten a bit better with his yellow bottles he’s a real monster in chase.

If you smash the antidote onto a dropped pallet while zoning the survivor to stay at the loop, you kick it with brutal and they get literally no distance. That’s probably the easiest and best use for them IMO.

It also helps that smashing bottles on top of the shack gasses the entire inside of the shack now if you land it correctly on some maps; it’s nutty how easy it is to shut down shack doing that

  • EABC9EFC-A1C4-404A-9440-16B71C052CB3.png

I have been doing this one for a bit. Maybe dump pop for BBQ if you don’t want anything meta.

But lethal persuer + the undetectable addon is just chefs kiss. There’s nothing quite like just running across the entire map and nailing someone with your first rush in the first 10 seconds of the game. And right at the start you basically ignore all pallets and then the windows self close for you during your first chases.

  • @Rey_512 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447364#Comment_2447364

It’s not about being meta or optimal though. It’s about having fun with a unique build.

I guess. My experience at rank 1 is typically all gens are done within ~4-5 minutes if you don’t have any slowdown.

I don’t have fun when 3 gens pop in 2 minutes and I’m stuck with lousy perks chasing a BT/DS/DH/Unbreakable survivor around a ton of god pallets on a huge map

It's the same thought process that nerfed Billy & kept the Bloodied Blueprint offering in the game.

One of the most useless offerings in the entire game. I almost never see it being used.

I use the basement offerings on hag quite a bit, to not have to waste time at the start figuring out where to set up. Same with trapper.

But the fact this combo is in the game is pretty outrageous; especially in the hands of SWF who can bring in a map offering on top of it. Throw in a BNP or two and you got the most OP SWF build imageable.

  • @Rey_512 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2447351#Comment_2447351

Even with SWF, if you slap Blindness on all survivors pretty quickly - they’ll have trouble on RPD. Unfortunately there’s also tons of maps where this build would be bad such as Shelter Woods.

If it’s a sweaty meta SWF you are liable to get totally rolled by sending yourself to RPD unless you are playing a top tier killer.

Especially with this build which would be neat but still suboptimal compared to a stack of gen perks

  • The survivor gets to see where the plaything totem spawns? That’s dumb and makes it instantly terrible.

But yes it could be interesting to have a bunch of blind and oblivious survivors running around an indoor map. Won’t help against SWF though so it would mainly be to mess with solo Q teams.

  • With most of the killer roster about to be rendered obsolete by SBMM; it makes sense people would be starting to spam nurse again in preparation

  • Compound 33 is straight up busted compared to the alchemist ring IMO, so that and the speed addons are relatively fine in the land of DBD.

  • Eh. Even if I could get past the dedicated puke hit box robbery I’m still not sure why I would play her.

I can play a 115 ranged killer with Pyramid or Nemesis, and don’t need to rely on survivors to give me my power.

At her best, which is her with the wallhacks addon and stealth perks, she is a bootleg tier 3 Myers/Ghostface who maybe gets to use her power every now and then. At her worst she’s an M1 killer with some utility.

Also, I’d never be able to train myself to hard respect pallets. I run enduring too much for that.

  • FD8419F8-B3F8-4E23-AD3A-64E5411CF186.png

I basically never play anything B and down.

  • Well I hate to break it to you but making good decisions is just as much part of “playing good” as being mechanically skilled in chase.

And let’s be real, it literally doesn’t matter how good you are in chase if you are going around safe pallets with plenty of the killer roster. If the survivor isn’t terrible, you can’t hit them there. It’s as simple as that. You have to brute force through them, and that takes time. Time you probably don’t have if you are spending 30-40 seconds walking all the way across the map between chases.

I don’t care about camping and tunneling as survivor unless the killer is Nurse or Spirit, everyone else is fair game. Especially when DS exists. Why? Because I can actually loop; and if the team is doing gens it’s 3 gens for 80~ seconds of chase. 80 seconds is sooooo easy to do on sooo many DBD maps. You don’t even have to loop! You can hold W and predrop and still last that long and if it takes that long for your first hook the game is practically won.

So the survivor can play better too, and not be going down so fast that getting camped to death is a viable 4K strat in the first place.

That’s why I’ll never feel bad about camping and tunneling, and I’ll stop doing it when it stops working. Simple as that.

  • I don’t think it is. Most of the filler rock loops are easily shut down by killers with any semblance of anti-looping capability. At least you can actually get some hits at them instead of endless safe pallet after safe pallet like on the game.

Overall it’s just a somewhat survivor sided map, huge in size with a safe main building and a few scattered strong tiles. But that describes half the maps in the game.

  • Killer is harder to learn. Baby killer is easy, then once you get to mid-tier it’s insanely hard.

Finally once you master killer it goes back to being relatively easy (although usually pretty annoying).

All the baby killers get gen rushed and quit before the huge learning curve is complete.

  • @Sadsnacks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2404323#Comment_2404323

Exactly, like i said its for killers who arent confident in chase, like you.

Well I like to make the assumption the survivors I’m playing against are not bots who will go down in 10 seconds because I looked at them. That’s about how bad the survivors have to be to get away with playing nice on half the maps in DBD unless you are spamming top tier killers every game.

  • @Sadsnacks said:

Proxy camping is low skill, reserved for killers who dont know how to keep track of which areas survivors are at and what gens theyre focusing on and arent confident in chase.

Yeah you are right. I should spend my first gen or two clearing out a bunch of pallets, then put a survivor in the middle of that deadzone, and then just walk away to the other side of the map (by the time I get over there the gens will probably be done anyways).

Then I can chase survivors through another slew of pallets around an area with little or nothing to defend.

    Fantastic strategy, 10/10 survivors approve.

  • Camping and tunneling are only overpowered if the survivors have gen phobia. Which to be fair, most do.

There is very little reason to play solo survivor as a veteran player. You might as well take your game knowledge and win 95% of your games as killer; instead of dealing with red rank self care clauds. Pretty much all the good survivors just play in SWFs and it’s for a reason.

But at the end of the day, all those problems are the survivors being bad. Not the game being imbalanced. 3 gens done in 2 minutes. That’s DBD if the survivors are good.

Basically. I used to play DBD as a team game, kinda like the guy above was saying.

Blah blah go take hooks for your team and “pull your weight in chase” and run borrowed time and this and that.

And…well I ended up dying a ton for teammates who don’t care about me at all.

This is meaningless. Dowsey had some ridiculous win streak as twins. What happened the second he got matched against survivors who are as good as he is? 4 man escape. Players who have thousands and thousands of hours shouldn't be playing against literal who's that the matchmaker just picks cause they've been in queue for a bit. Now if this guy could do this with MMR on I'd be impressed.

If I recall he won every game he played during the MMR test as well, including against a tournament team that it matched him with.

But still that’s not my point linking that. My point is nemesis is a 115 killer with a ranged attack that readies up almost as fast as deathslinger ADS and can’t realistically be dodged because it’s basically hitscan. The fact he needs a third health state makes sense, he would be stupid OP if he downed you in 2 hits right off the bat.

The people who think he is bad probably just suck with his tentacle attack, which is understandable.

And thats perfectly fine....people like this exist with every killer at rank 1, and if you pitted them all against each other Nemesis would still be F tier in comparison.

F tier is for trash killers like pig and legion and trapper and such. Nemesis is a solid B tier. He gives up some early game pressure for mid and late game power, no different from Oni or Myers.

His power can get you at like 90% of the loops in the game. He smashes through pallets almost as fast as Bubba during a chase. Please explain to me how that is trash tier. I loaded into “the game” earlier as Nemesis and was downing people over the majority of the loops. How many other 115 killers can do that?

You can watch that match I linked and even in the first 2-3 minutes he’s hitting quickscope tentacles no other ranged killer in the game can compare to (except deathslinger)

Yeah its optional if you never wanna use your power for the rest of the game and only use M1 to down survivors....

You give people the sprint burst....PERIOD if you ever use his power and tier him up past 1, you WILL give all survivors tagged a free health state. <--- That by itself...against any survivor with a brain and ESPECIALLY against survivors who absolutely know the ######### game in out backwards sideways and upside down will have your chases last twice as long as any killer in this game...period....and if you were around for mettle of man before it was nerfed...it was easily the most nightmarish chases you could ever have to deal with in this game, and for Nemesis these chases are BASE KIT....All I can say is thank god they nerfed insta heals before releasing him because it could be 10 times worse.

He doesn't have any depth. He doesn't have any secondary objectives, he doesn't have to strategically place traps around the map, he doesn't need muscle memory for movement skills, he's an M1 killer with a worse ranged ability than pyramid head.

His only big brain saving grace are his zombies.....which would be fine.....if they weren't a buggy ass mess getting stuck on terrain, and if they weren't perma locked to 2 no matter how big of a football field size map you go to....

He's F tier. And don't even bring up trickster for comparison because trickster donkey stomps him out of the water with lethality even though its popular on this forum to say that tricksters power set is "weak" yeah about as weak as bringing a machine gun to knock out bottles at a carnival. And I'm actually shocked they aren't in the process of nerfing the ######### out of him.

I personally don't like trickster, not because he's weak, but because his aesthetic doesn't fit, his power is a repeat of other power sets, and his theme is like...Murder She Wrote levels of scary when you're 6 years old and its the only thing your parents will put on the TV and you can't change the channel and you fall asleep of boredom listening to this 80 year old woman talk about the good old days while chasing around serial killers who look like the local mail man....1940s era soap opera scary...much spooky....very meh...

And then there’s guys like this who main him, say he’s amazing, and win literally every game with him at rank 1. So…..

Deathslinger can shot people up to 18 meter nemesis is only 5 meter and this is block by most of the loop a car can block the strike honestly they have nothing alike nemesis feel more like a nerf pyramid head compare to anyone in the roster

I don’t agree with that. Slinger and Nemesis are similar in that they both quickly attack from range with no real warning. I find them to play super similar at most shorter loops, and also on long wall loops.

Huntress, Pyramid Head, and to a lesser extent Demo and Victor all give a huge “I’m about to do a ranged attack!” indicator.

Nemesis / Slinger ADS for .1 seconds and unleash the attack right away. And they both shoot in a straight line fast enough it’s basically hitscan.

    I'm sorry but no.

Nemesis cant' do anything near what Deathslinger can at loops and gives survivors up to 8 extra health states per game.

I mean for anti loop Deathslinger can spear you through the dang walls on some shacks to get hits which nemesis can't do.

His Shot range is 18 meters meanwhile Nemesis' is only 5 base 6 at T3.

I have no idea how you could compare the two.

As I said, he is 115. He also gets one of the best tracking tools in the game (zombies).

Nemesis quick scopes people with the tentacle the same way deathslinger does with the gun. I compare them because you can attack with the tentacle faster than survivors can react most of the time.

And unlike deathslinger, when you whiff over a pallet trying to hit a survivor you just smash it and keep moving. Slinger has to reload and break it. Nemesis loses almost no distance. He is a monster in tier 3.

I never understood the whole B tier rating when he gives the survivors an extra 8 health states per game.

Remember theoretically because of the cures and what not it can take an extra 5 hits to down a single survivor if they used all of cures.

Edit: I just want to know what made you originally think that nemesis was a B tier and what made you change your mind.

Because he is basically a short range 115 deathslinger who never has to reload and can break pallets with his shot.

Once the ball is rolling with Nemesis he is extremely strong, and survivors getting tunneled off the hook don’t have time to get a vaccine.

  • Huh?

Zombies are usually useless 90% of the match and the tentacle hitbox is extremely demanding.

  • Fogless forever, the consoles from 8 years ago can’t handle it anymore.

  • Trash maps purely for the daytime setting.

Someone tell me why wraith can’t take a flashlight shining on him for 4 seconds but is running around in broad daylight totally fine.

  • In comparison to most of the roster? He’s bad.

    You got:

32m terror radius, so good survivors will have massive distance on you for each chase sometimes

Mobility that both requires setup, can be denied, isn’t instant, and has little offensive capabilities

Extremely or highly loopable, depending on the map. Shred is useless on plenty of circular loops

    Needs 2 hits to down

    Mostly terrible addons

  • He’s pretty garbage. It’s funny they nerfed his addons when you still have killers like Blight running around.

Blight does everything Demo does but 10x better. Better short range lunge, better mobility, better antiloop, way better addons, etc.

Well yea, the ruin is kinda there for their protection

But it’s a dumb mechanic. The only thing that enables most killers to play with 4 survivors alive for the majority of the match is ruin. So it’s really left to RNG if the killer can actually attempt to play “fair” or just tunnel hooks.

Only a handful of strong/mobile killers can just wander the map chase to chase without ruin. And even then they would probably be better served by ruin tinkerer than whatever they are running instead.

  • Pretty much every low mobility killer is propped up by ruin if they want 12 hooks. A bad ruin spawn relegates them to camping and tunneling almost immediately.
