I was kidnapped by the Shadow Realm for a second time but clawed my way back to watch the 8th anniversary livestream so you don't have to!
Can you even make titles that long???
If so thats A+

Id like to see more of a tag team between the 2, and make Charlotte a little more threatning and interesting to play.
Maybe instead of only being able to seperate like they do currently, make it so Victor can be commanded to block a window or pallet (during which he can be crushed), pouncing on an injured Survivor instead makes Victor scratch at that Survivor, pinning them similarly to a Bear Trap but not downing them. If they get him off in time then they stand back up.
And another idea that Ive always loved simply because of how funny itd be, is seeing Charlotte just throwing Victor.

Trapper
It simply started all the way back in 2018 when a friend of mine decided to P3 Hillbilly, his first fully prestiged killer. I thought that was cool af at the time because we were both pretty new, so I wanted a prestiged killer of my own. I almost went with Hag, who I had at P2 but then I played a bit of Trapper and he started becoming more appealing to me. The sound of a Survivor stepping into a trap was satisfying, and being able to end a game unexpectedly within a few minutes because of some well placed traps was one of the best feelings, and still is for me to this day. So he was my very first P3 killer on March 18th, 2018
As time went on I then wanted to P3 other killers and have had several "phases" with them, but I always found myself falling back to Trapper. As I got better I started realizing just how much depth this killer had, all the nasty trap spots and unique ways of using his traps. So much so Im still learning new spots to this day.
Once the new progression system came out, I knew I wanted 2 characters P100 for sure. Meg (First P3 Survivor, Dec 2017) and Trapper.
I was able to get Meg to P100 in December of last year, just about 6 years of when I got her to P3, and Trapper I got to P100 in March of this year, once again about 6 years of when I initially got him to P3.
Never would I have thought 6 years ago that I would have both of my mains at P100. Insane.
-
Its whats keeping me away as well, which is a shame since I really want to get Unknown to P9
Another thing is them removing the option to bind up/down/left/right keys. Like seriously why did they do this?
-
Id say go for it! shes a fun killer with a unique playstyle, and also has a high skill ceiling.

No, but even if I didnt I would still get the same reward
-
what do you mean "how much we spend on this"? You arent spending anything and youre getting free rewards.
-
I mean hey its normal to feel burnout after a long time. Just take a break! As long as you need and come back whenever you feel that itch to play the game.
I feel a bit burned out since I played for 8+ hours for over a week during the bloodmoon event to get Trapper to P100, and that I was able to achieve.
Ill come back to the game once the bugs from this last patch are sorted, should feel all refreshed then :)
-
Ok but it has so much potential for funny moments and thats all it takes to make me on board
-
Im thinking a Hex that traps all nearby pallets and windows when cleansed, maybe making it activate every time a totem is cleansed sort of like Retribution

Ok but Distortion won't tell them I have Blood Warden until it's too late, correct?
I want them to know I have it after I activate it. I want them to stand there, trapped, until The Entity eats them.
I didn't know the timer wasn't fixed. I was going to use the stopwatch on my phone but I guess that won't be reliable.
Distortion and OoO can warn them of BW early, because the aura reveal works regardless if the exit is blocked or not.
Also you dont need a stopwatch, all you need is to look at the timer and listen out for the bells. Each bell signifies the percentage of time thats left (First bell signifies 75%, then 50%, then 25%)
At 25% (3rd bell) the timer is at 30 seconds and when a Survivor is downed it is slowed by half so 60 seconds. Just enough time to lock them in until the timer runs out
-
@CountOfTheFog said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3709643#Comment_3709643
Wait, I'm confused. How can Distortion or OoO check for Bloodwarden? You're saying they can use those perks to know if I'm running it before I activate it? How?
Because Blood Warden reveals Survivor auras within the exit gate area, meaning Distortion will consume a stack to prevent the aura reveal and OoO will pull an uno reverse card and reveal the killer to them.
@CountOfTheFog said:
I did not know this. So if it's 2 minutes and I down someone with NOED, then I'm already at the 60 second mark? As long as I open the gates before hitting the Survivor?
Edit: I read your post wrong. You're saying the timer increases when I down someone?
Even if the timer reaches half its still not enough since the timer slows down when you down them, meaning to secure the kills the timer needs to hit the 30 second mark so that when you hook them it guarantees that they stay locked in
-
I wouldnt count on it since the stars have to align for this to work. Blood Warden can also be checked with Distortion (a popular pick atm) or Object of Obsession, making it even less likely to work.
Also EGC is 2 minutes, but slows to half speed when a Survivor is hooked, caged, or dying.

Heres a few more nostalgia SC's :)

Rephrase the question please. I'm lost as to what you're asking.
So a mori can only be used on second hook, meaning at that point why care about the mori? Even without a mori they can still do the exact same thing but hook you instead.
-
@CountOfTheFog said:
Mori Offerings should be removed from the game. The Killers will literally face camp so that you unhook yourself just so they can tunnel you for their stupid mori.
A Mori could still be obtained through perks like Rancor and Devour Hope, but no more Offerings.
I personally close out the game immidetley when I see the last Offering is a "secret"
I've had enough Ghostface and Chuckys hit me on hook, intentionally activating face camp ,just to get their Mori.
But if they just hooked you again itd have the same outcome?

Its gotten to a point where Ive just given up trying to avoid them. Some traps are just far too important to just avoid them like this window, or the badham entrance one that was patched a while ago.

Tunnel in the beginning so you don't waste time on ds at the mid game.
Your early game is just as important tho and its usually the start of getting the ball rolling. You set yourself up by getting rid of as many resources you can to he able to snowball later.
DS is a resource yes, how ever Id much rather get rid of 2 or 3 pallets which has a bigger impact on the whole team rather than a single perk on 1 Survivor.

Trapper
-Many indoor maps have rooms where there are only about 3 entrances. Putting a trap at only 2 of them and then placing a trap the moment you chase a Survivor into one of these rooms leaves them with no options. This can be made easier with Bamboozle.
-If you body block some one in a corner, you can place a trap beneath them, trapping them instantly
-Using the Makeshift Wrap and Coffee Grounds add on, try zoning a Survivor at aloop and placing a trap on the side of the loop instead of at the pallet. If they stay at the loop, they have to go around the trap and you can pass right through. If they run, Coffee Grounds helps you catch up (they also help you in the loop)
-Save The Best For Last still works exactly the same as before.
-Only place about 1 or 2 traps at the beginning of the game. You dont have time to waste placing more, and the best way to buy time for yourself is applying pressure, not blind luck.
-Just because some one is trapped far away doesnt mean you have to stop what youre doing and go for them. Chances are they get out before you get there, and your traps are supposed to be at spots where Survivors travel most which are safe tiles, meaning youre just going to be running towards a Survivor who is now safe (An exception can be made if you are running Honing Stone, or Fastening Tools + Wax Brick.
-Always try to have at least one trap one you at all times. It helps immensely in the chase, and its even better if you have both.
All I can think of for now, if I think of anything else Ill edit the post

That's not true. A lot changed since that dev stream, and now even if the MMR of survivors affect how much MMR he gains or loses, the killer only gain MMR if he does a 3K or more, loses MMR if he does a 1K or less, and don't lose or gain if he does a 2K.
Also, the MMR gain is capped at +20 per match:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Skill-Based_Matchmaking_Rating?so=search
If you really are playing just for fun, why it matters to you against who are you playing? Just play. You should not care if you win or lose either, if you are in the match just for fun.
Well would you look at that lol
I guess its slightly better than how it worked before? Still not great

@Mr_K said:
If you commit to letting all survivors go over many many matches, your killer mmr will drop below the soft cap. Then you can play easier matches. But if you start killing again your mmr will go higher and be back where you started.
So it comes down to this. Do you enjoy the game when all survivors escape or when all survivors die? Because even with a 2k your mmr can go up.
Technically even a 1k can increase your MMR.
If 3 of the Survivors have really low MMR, but the one person you killed had really high MMR. I believe that can outweigh the other 3 (assuming I understood the dev stream a while back)

this is not about kills or escapes
So then what is this about? That these kinds of builds and squads are tough to deal with? Everyone knows that. This isnt a problem exclusive to killer tho, a casual Survivor squad going against a fully stacked Blight or Nurse.
Also Survivor isnt easy. Is it easier than killer? At high level yes, but that doesnt completely invalidate the coordination and positioning required to pull these kinds of things off.

His problem is luck based power, and his add ons feel needed. But bloody coil should never be basekit, you shouldn't be punished for wasting your time fighting against the power. I feel the time it takes to self escape/teammate escape a trap should be determined based on trappers distance to the trapped survivor. Longer when hes further away so they are immobilized for longer, losing gen pressure, and less time when hes in chase for a few seconds to catch up. For trap disarming, I'd like to see basekit iri stone, trapper loses alot of time setting his traps, now that he has 10, he was indirectly nerfed cus it takes longer to use power to full effect. they should also give him a speed boost when picking up traps so he gets to his desired trap location faster. Luck has always been a dumb machanic in this game anyway, this change I feel is very balanced and fair to make trapper better and less annoying to go against/as.
His power isnt as luck based as youd think since 90% of your traps should be in the middle of a chase. If you place them in spots specifically so a Survivor steps in them by chance its usually near a hook in advance so that you cover 2 options: A survivor can step in it on the way for the rescue, or you come back to the hook and you push them towards the trap to have them step in it. (This works great as long/short wall tiles with a hook in the center since you have several angles and places where you can place a trap, making it very accessible most of the time)
Basekit Iri Stone or any add on for that matter I dont think is necessary other than maybe Trapper Gloves and Makeshift Wrap.
Saying that he was nerfed for having 10 traps now is just... wrong... if you had 8$ and I give you an extra 2, are you all of a sudden poorer? The reason for the buff was to make it so the number of traps he had was more consistent so he could have access to more than before on average.
Speed boost on trap pick up would be nice but I dont think its necessary. He doesn't waste too much time doing it as opposed to placing one.
Sincerely, a P100 Trapper Main.

Once again, it's not that difficult if done correctly. What you described, with checking every existing perk in the game, is the spaghetti way of doing it, that would be inefficient and error-prone. The correct way of doing it would be having a single value like "sprint speed", and having different perks change it on activation. Then the check would be just against this one value, and the check for having a specific perk would be needed only upon events of activation of those perks. That would be much simpler.
Once again, look at Team Fortress 2. It's ridden with sniper bots with spin-aimbots and the anti-cheat is virtually non-existent there, but yet none of those cheaters can ever use a speedhack. Even though game mechanics also allow different speed boosts for players with specific loadouts, the servers easily validate it, and no player can go faster than he should, even if the target speed is achievable by in-game means. Demoknight can't go with his charge-speed if he is not charging, and he can't charge when he shouldn't be able to. And no hacks can change that. Also, sniper bot can never do something like shooting rockets or any other weapon they don't have, but in DbD a Ghostface can fly to the sky and start shooting endless Huntress' hatchets (literally what one famous cheater is doing regularly).
Most of other multiplayer games do these trivial checks and make such cheats impossible to implement, even though all of them have some kind of speed-boost mechanics, different loadouts or perks. DbD is not that much deeper in this regard. The more probable reason is that the DbD code is so spaghettified that it's now impossible to change the core logic without breaking the whole thing apart.
Thats the thing tho, even if the server checks for a speed value, theres still sooo many modifiers, and this is for movement speed alone. It would still need to do these checks regularly and that would definitely have an impact on performance. Which I dont think our poor old gen friends can handle anymore.
I will admit though I am going off of my very limited experience with coding, so this may be a lot simpler than I think it is I just cant see how it can be with how many variables that need to be accounted for.
-
Id be down for this. Would also have the side effect of making it so people who try to kill themselves early could get dced if you leave them alone, and if they specifically follow the killer around to try to get themselves killed for the entire game, well its a valid reason for a report since theyre griefing.
They want to get out of a match early? Suffer the penalty and give the rest of your team a bot so they at least have a chance.

I‘m all for meta shake ups with buffs, but I don‘t want them to nerf anything anymore. It‘s only frustrating, how perks that are fine get nerfed, because of pick rate. If they would shake up the meta with buffs I‘m all for it.
Nah I think they need to go the nerf route considering this would (and this is already the case) cause constant power creep, since then the only way something gets replaced in the meta, is if something is stronger than it.
Take Whispers and Nurses Calling for example. These were A and S tier perks back in the day, and despite not being touched since they have fallen all the way down to C or B tier at best.
The way you have more perk variety and builds is by making each perk less valuable on its own, but make it have more potential for synergy. DMS I feel is a pretty good example, it doesnt work too well on its own but is very good with something like Pain Res or Grim Embrace. Pain Res how ever I feel like it needs another small tune down since its way too valuable for just a single perk slot

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3704371#Comment_3704371
It's not that difficult, actually, if done correctly. The server is already making similar checks every tick, just add a few conditions into the checking routine, like checking coordinates and velocity against limits. Other games do this, for example, there is a good reason why in Team Fortress 2, with their abundance of cheaters, such cheats as speedhacks and flying are completely impossible. Even Minecraft servers can detect speedhacks and flyhacks with trivial measures. It's hard to find a multiplayer game nowadays where speedhack is even possible because of how trivially it is fixed by the server-side validation, it's truly a mystery why DbD still allows this in 2024.
Something like a speedhacks can't really be checked because its still possible to run absurdly fast even in normal lobbies. You're essentially writing thousands of lines of code to take in consideration every single perk in the game. Doing some thing like: Oh this person is moving at 175%. Do they have Lithe? No. Do they have Balanced Landing? No. Do they have Sprint Burst? No. Do they have Smash Hit? Yes. But now theres still that 25%! Now they need to check what else is giving them speed, which can be something absurd like: Them ALSO having Background Player, but they're under the effects of Forced Hesitation and a Clown bottle, but they ALSO so happened to be under the effects of a Refined Serum.
"Oh well just add if they run fast for too long then obviously they're cheating!" Ok so lets say the person moved .2 seconds longer than normal. The server would not only have to check everything above (which btw is just 1 example, there are thousands other scenarios related to movement speed alone) but they would also have to check for latency. Since even tho they actually moved for 5 seconds, the server saw it as 5.2 seconds.
Then you have something like being out of bounds. Then you would have things like Billy, Demo or Victor who are able to cross certain barriers to be able to go out of bounds (which btw for the twins they would have to do an additional check since the person could of switched back to charlotte) and I don't think some one should be labelled as a hacker because they were able to surf off a funny shaped rock.
Its also funny how you mention Minecraft considering their own speed and fly hack detection is so heavily flawed. A server which is slightly underperforming can see some one moving faster than they actually are, same goes if the person themselves have a poor connection to the server. I've seen the message "You moved too quickly" (or something like that) too many times just because I went onto an EU server or a server was just having a bad day.
Is it possible to do something like this? Absolutely. But it was have to do ALL of these checks constantly for every little thing in this game every tick, and theres nothing that could kill this games performance more than that.
