With nerf perk, SWF, Toxic Survivor, Object of Obsession. Instead being Git Gud , I just want to have some fun, but now playing killer is kinda stress, no wonder only few player play killer gameplay. This matter that never unthinkable by BHVR. Instead they always make survivor as their favourite son. Hey BHVR killer is your most valuable player in this game. No Killer No Gameplay.

    BHVR is not favoring survivors.

  • I'm sick of Killer Culture that uses Ruin, Undying, Infectious Fright and Iri Hatchet in the same game.

I have a whole lesser gpu and my game works fine no matter what. I never have to restart, zero frame drop, no stutters. It's just always smooth. I guess dbd is just poorly optimized for Ryzen gpus?

He's not using a Ryzen GPU that's a Ryzen CPU.

The larger issue is probably playing the game on harddrive. Put it on SSD, preferably NVME for better performance.

The game is just badly-optimized. Kudos to you for not having stutters. I have stutters in the game too and my GPU is much better than a 5500 XT. Stutters usually when someone goes on hook and screams. The game obviously doesn't pre-cache all assets needed before starting. I have it on hard drive too since my SSD has other stuff on it.

Never said that there's no difference in experience. Naturally anyone would want to run with 120FPS/144hz rather than 30~40FPS/60hz, but in dbd your FPS barely affects your performance.

Unless of course you're having constant drops when moving around...that does do more than just bother you.

Maybe if you're survivor. If you play killer the extra frame rate helps a lot. Not even on Huntress or Deathslinger. All kilers benefit a lot fro much higher framerates if you are the type that looks around constantly to find survivors. And heck even on Survivor constantly looking aroudn while in chase makes a big difference and you need high framerates to do it properly.

    • Struggle mechanics -- seriously needed to be removed 4 years ago.
    • Camping, Tunneling and Slugging -- the game encourages camping and tunneling far too much. There needs to be changes to the base mechanics that discourage this sort of gameplay, but it's been 4 years. No wait 5 years now.
    • Looping - game needs less looping nonsense and more stealthing, you know because this game used to be a Hide and Seek game originally.
    • Gens - would it kill BHVR to think of new mission types for the new maps? Deep Rock Galactic started off with five mission types last year, today it has 7 as the developers added more mission types. Current batch of maps will be for gen type missions. There should be other mission types that require other objectives instead. Perks that work on gens will translate to whatever the new mission type is.

I just took a spirit on a 4 gen chase on shelter woods and when she finally caught me, she face camped and slapped me on hook.My teammates didn't even bother saving me btw, they just did the last gen and left even though it was clear she only wanted me.

If you have a toxic killer they're like that. If you outsmart them or show them up they will tunnel you and face camp you until you die.

Happened to me last night against a clown.

That's the playerbase of DBD. The playerbase is like that though because the game mechanics encourage this kind of toxicity without any kind of safeguards baked into the base mechanics.

We've all been giving tons of suggestions to BHVR on how to fix camping and tunneling for years, but they don't care.

When a killer camps you and wants you dead you're dead. Nobody is getting you out of there, even with BT. The smart thing is what your teammates did -- gen rush and leave. That's how the mechanics work.

  • @chieften333 said:

If I had to guess, they hate doing things that aren't gens.

Come on. You can give survivors more credit than that.

Survivors don't enjoy doing gens. They enjoy outsmarting the killer, finishing their objectives and escaping.

Solo Q survivor here at rank1 who doesn't use self care and uses iron will instead. If I self cared instead of doing a gen, no gen would get done, so i'd rather do it while injured.

Same here. I haven't touched Self Care in a long time -- except in that silly build I did with Desperate Measures, Botany Knowledge, We'll Make It and Self Care.

  • Ah so the issue is PS4 specifically. Yeah Sony will be a big hurdle to that.

Ok, I have been trying to but some time for my teammates most of the time it works which I think is good, I dont like stealth that much but I think I should get into it more so I can do both.

Nah, don't be like me. Stealth is a hard road and not very rewarding. I just stealth because I love the hide and seek aspect of this game. I even stealth as killer.

You're already pretty good at looping (better than me frankly) just keep working on that. Teammates are always going to be an issue in Solo Q. You can try running "Solo SWF" builds if you think it's really bad. The SWF build I run is: Kindred, Aftercare, Blood Pact, and one free slot for whatever you want (I usually run Iron Will). This is a great build that improves your team efficiency by leaps and bounds.

  • Self-Care to be honest is a bit of a junk perk. It's not really "okay" but unfortunately it's still meta in solo-q, pretty much everyone I see runs it in Solo Q. The perk used to be an A-class perk on Dennisreep but now its just B-Class, people have realized it's a bad perk but they still run it, sadly.

I do agree that putting it back to pre-nerf levels is too much given the current meta and how the game has evolved. It would be too powerful in today's game if it were reverted back to pre-nerf.

  • @Moundshroud said:

I agree with you; it is a crackpot theory. Players get bored for all sorts of reasons, but the most common one is isn't difficulty. It could be the new content simply isn't impressive currently. The Twins didn't thrill a lot of people. There are regions where there is no delay, so that also scuttles your theory. Ques get faster and slower all the time. I notice mine are affected by the time of day.

Ah so you're saying that my region (SE Asia) is actually just having a killer shortage, there actually isn't a killer shortage problem in general.

Well that makes sense. Do you think that killers are bored with the game and leaving though? For other reasons other than difficulty.

  • For the record I am stealth survivor. I mainly play stealth at Rank 1-4, and I don't use exhaustion perks. But I waste less time in a match than you did in that one. If you stealth pick your moments when you sneak around. For the most part you should still be running around everywhere except at the very start where that's a big risk as you haven't figured out where the killer is yet. If you know you're safe commit to a gen, even if you are taking a stealth strategy.

Still there are times when I ran for a gen first thing in the match even with a stealth loadout. Depends on where I spawn really.

  • Firstly, Survivors can play with friends. That alone makes nearly any game more "sticky". Killer is a strictly solo experience unless you have exactly 5 people and do a KYF.

This is actually a very good point.

I also get what you mean about the base perks on both sides. Killer definitely has a harder time gearing up for optimum builds.

Are the majority of new killers really ending up against high rank survivors? That would definitely be a big turn off from the game. Low rank survivors going up against high rank kilelrs used to be very common but I havent been in low ranks since forever so I don't know what the matchmaking is like these days. I am a low rank killer right now, though, but I don't play much killer anymore and I haven't been going up against absurdly higher rank survivors surprisingly. They are within my skill level more or less and the matches are ok. I always thought the higher the killer rank goes the harder it gets, because now your'e going up against survivors who know what they're doing. At low rank killer is not so bad for me.

  • Speaking of console. Someone also made a post about crossplay.

Is the reason we have so many survivors now because of the influx of crossplay survivors? I only play PC I don't play console DBD at all.

Could be that's what I missed.

  • Ok watching the next part...

    • I think you're generally not aggressive enough doing gens. There were lots of points there where I think you wasted time standing around instead of doing a gen.
    • You lose your cool too quickly when stealthing. At the shack I would have hid behind the doorway and not run off. If he hits me so be it. Also it's trapper expect a trap at the god palette. If he sees me and hits me then that's when I run off.

Other than that I think you did good. I think the main issue is a reluctance to commit to doing gens. You guys also lost that because your team couldnt get you off the hook fast enough, but it happens.

  • Ok I just escaped. Now to watch the rest of the vid...

  • Some more things:

    • I'm curious. Why do you always look down? I am never looking down I need to keep my eyes peeled for the killer all the time. Oh I get it you're looking for traps.
    • After bill got hooked you did good watching Trapper, leaving when he got close, then hiding and going back to the gen. That was perfect.
    • After that you go to the boat gen but after tapping it you leave. Were you just setting it up for Technician? Seems like a waste. He was chasing someone else at that time so you should have continued on the gen. I get that you could hear the TR but the boat is a pretty safe place to be.

Over all I think you were playing too conservatively. And I got another game. Seems my queue is about 4 minutes. See you later.

  • Ok I just died. Now I can comment on the rest of the vid. Hold on....

  • Disabling crossplay makes my queues take forever. Enabling it is much faster.

I don't know what they did but it is terrible.

  • While waiting for my next game I watched some of the first vid. My comments:

    • You were running around all over the place from the start. Only do that if you are going to efficiently do gens. You wasted some time running around the boat instead of going straight up to gen.
    • Right after you start working on the gen you stop and go to open a chest. If you're not running Plunderer (and you aren't) don't waste time like this. Either finish the gen or go for chests (and don't go for chests if you're not Plundering). Commit and don't dilly dally.
    • The chase was great but the trapper was a bit of a newb. Immediately after the chase you waste more time ducking in the tall grass instead of getting on a gen.

My 2 minutes are up took me 2 minutes to find a game. Now I'm off.

  • Ohhh silly me so you need to claim the award first! Noted haha. I was thinking of saving up the BP here for the next killer/survivor release. Guess I'll do the killer side of the quests now.

  • It's called Asymmetric Multiplayer.

But that's video game type genre. If we're talking about the setting kind of genre, obviously it's horror slasher.

It is not Survival Horror. Survival Horror is completely different.

  • Interesting lore. I never knew of that phrase!

Honestly, yes, killer has gotten worse as the game becomes more balanced. Everyone else talks about how they only get potatoes, but the the more the game gets balanced the more survivors lean towards slamming generators. Two years ago, killer was much easier by virtue of survivors just not doing their task. Not because of Ruin, not because of broken killers and add-ons, but because survivors didn't have this laser focus on popping gens.

There's some truth to what you said, but the reason I disagree is that that already happened 2 years ago. During the healing nerf because the game got more "balanced"' towards killer survivors ended up playing more efficiently and genrushing instead of healing. This is what gave birth to the entire DS/Dead Hard/Adrenaline/Mettle builds that terrorized killers at the time. People just weren't healing anymore and relied on 2nd chance perks and Adrenaline to just tank the killer while genrushing.

I would argue that the game hasn't gotten harder for killer since that era. It's really gotten much easier.

But you might be correct. I really don't know. Maybe killer is harder today than it was 2 years ago. But I really doubt it. A lot and I do mean a LOT has changed to make life much easier for killers now.

Can you give me a source of your last official stat? Because the last one i saw, swf were about 50% of all games, so i have no idea where that "very low percentage" comes from.

    image.png

Well your numbers aren't too far off. The alst time we had stats for this released about 50% of games have an SWF of some sort in it. But that doesnt mean 50% of players were SWF. Roughly 50% of players were solo, and the smaller percentage of people were in an SWf of some sort. And of course, the 4-man SWF Commando Squads are only around 4% (if even that, not all of thse 4-mans are commando squads).

I've been playing this game since the pandemic started. And up until this point, they been nerfing killers.

They nerf survivors by reworking maps and getting rid of infinite loops.

They even buff niche survivor perks.

Before someone gives me 1 example of killer buff, just go look at the amount of nerfs before claiming that killers got buffs.

EDIT: The game is already too easy for survivors as I escape about 60-70% of my matches. I still play survivor.

They have nerfed both killers and survivors since the quarantine started. They have also buffed niche perks on both sides. Example: Tinkerer, niche perk that almost nobody used now is one of the strongest perks in the game and an S-Class perk.

In fact if you look at Dennis Reep perk rankings you'll find that there are now 7 S-Ranked perks as per the community, and 0 S-Ranked Survivor Perks.

Why don't you also look at the amount of nerfs survivors have gotten since March last year? You are pretending that only Killers have been nerfed, this isn't even remotely true.

  • @MadLordJack said:

The shift in cue times happened a little before the Oni release, and it was gradual at first, til Ruin was nerfed, when it jumped massively, and whenever a new killer is released it decreases massively.

And honestly, no, killer is as hard as it's ever been, if not harder. Mistakes are punished more than ever, and a diminished amount of survivor resources on maps has been outweighed by the discovery that holding W is a thing. Maps may be more balanced, but that's countered by the ever increasing fervour that survivors have for generators. A year ago my average trial time was about 15 minutes, now it's around 8.

Ok, so for you the killer situation has not improved at all. Ok.

    But has it gotten worse?

Ruin nerf and Nurse nerf was big, sure, but so was the Mettle and DS nerf. Then Maps and clothes were made brighter. Then EGC was introduced. Then maps were reworked to remove all the safe palettes and god loops. Etc.

Sure Ruin was nerfed, but now we have Undying/Ruin instead, which is just as oppressive.

Mistakes for survivors are punished even harder than they used to be, because every map has been reworked to be much harder.

Back 2 years ago Survivors also started genrushing -- it was due to the healing nerfs. Survivors havent genrushed any faster now than they did 2 years ago, and in fact genrushing has been severely nerfed thanks to numerous killer perks and abilities that punish genrushing, along with toolboxes becoming useless.

  • @Pulsar said:

In my opinion, it's caused by the imbalanced difficulty of getting to Red Ranks.

As Killer, unless you play Legion, it's fairly difficult to pip and get to Red Ranks. There is nothing to boost you and you have to be at least semi-competent to make it there and stay.

As Survivor, it's extremely easy to pip, even as a Solo. You can be boosted by SWF (like me) and never de-rank even if you belong in Green Ranks.

This causes a massive amount of Survivors in Red Ranks, but not a lot in Purple or below. This allows Killer queue's to skyrocket for those in those Ranks, but, it means that Red Ranked Killers will almost always have an instant game.

Additionally, Red Ranked Survivors will face longer queue times, but Purple and below will generally have short queues.

Just my opinion, based off Xbox NA Servers.

But this was true 2 years ago, but 2 years ago we had too many killers and not enough survivors.

  • It's to fund the game.

The best outfits must be bought with real money. This is by design as it's one of the primary monetization models of the game.

  • @Pulsar said:

There is no reason that the newest CoD should run at 45 FPS and DBD should struggle to get above 25.

There's plenty of reason. It's called Developer Inability.

  • I thought we already had crossplay progression. I must have been thinking of a different game.

  • @Tsulan said:

Killers shouldn't be forced to equip gen slowdown perks in order to have a decent match.

    Yeah, but consider this.

If you balance the game around no gen slowdown perks, then if a killer brings a gen slowdown build he will dominate.

Because Gen Slowdown Perks are so powerful, they destroy the balance of the game entirely because the game is about doing gens. It's unavoidable that at the highest ranks gen slowdown is used, because it's that powerful and at the high ranks you expect high level play using powerful builds.

  • @SilentHillOnDvD said:

3 man escape in 6 minutes. All the chases were about 10ish seconds long. I put as much pressure as I could but those gens were flying . I was playing wraith on coal tower with no addons. Can someone tell me why I lost?

BTW I was using sloppy nurse's death bound bamboozle playing hit and run

    "I was playing wraith"

  • This domain badly needs more maps. There's almost no RNG in this map it's practically the same map every time. Fix the map tile randomization, then add more maps please.

  • I don't even know what DMS does. I have never seen it lol.

  • @sulaiman said:

First of, can you explain why people derank, if they dont like easy games?

Also, swf is basicly easymode, shouldn´t we see less of them if you are right?

Until the mori nerf, i used to play both sides (even though i played survivior the majority of time). Now i play survivor exclusive again.

And thats not because killer was too easy, but because swf got an advantage you cant handle if you dont have a main killer or play killer the majority of your time, aside from the matchmaking regularly placing me out of my skill level.

Also notice, that since the change, my survivor matches are way better than before. I think that is because a lot of player seem to play more active than before, even though i just got some games where no other survivor ever finished (or touched) a gen.

First of all not everyone deranks. I run into a deranker every day but they are not the majority.

Second of all how many SWF are there in proportion to the Solo Q? The last official stat we got for that was a "very low percentage." And actually if my theory were true you'd see the opposite of what you expect: you''d see more SWF propportionally because the ones who already had easy games and got bored quit, so only the try hards are left doing SWF.

So I assume you believe that the game is easier now for survivors compared to 2 years ago?

  • @Freddy96 said:

How is the game easier for survivors when loops are now all unsafe, infinites are gone, double pallets dont exist unless bugs, double jungle gyms pallets and windows are gone, tl walls pallets are gone, double windows shack is gone, double windows cow loop is gone, toolboxes are useless unless you use bnps commodius and wire spool, insta heals are way weaker than they used to be, flashlight saves require skills and timing, pallet vacuum is gone.

Surely playing killer might be hard for some people but saying that playing survivor is easier than it used to be is quite disingenous

Methinks you didn't read what I said.

I don't know where you're getting the 90% from, but as a killer main who uses BBQ on every killer, It's just for the blood points. Saying too many killers use it, so it must be OP is a flawed argument because I'm certain a lot of people, like me, are using it for BPs rather than the actual in game benefit.

Even just using it to gain BP is problematic. That's why every killer is running powerful addons every game and it's why there were so many pink moris running around before they got nerfed.

I've long complained that BBQ is overtuned and OP. A lot of people like to talk the perk down and say "it's just for blood points" but if BP weren't so important and powerful for the killer then maybe less people would be using BBQ. Survivors don't use WGLF and that's "just for blood points" and even after the buff Survivors still almost never use it.

Fact of the matter is a lot of killers run BBQ because the Aura Reading is clutch. This is hard to deny I see a lot of killers wrap up the 3K and 4K because of BBQ's Aura Reading. That's on top of the massive BP gain that lets them afford powerful addons.

And I've long challenged everyone. If you're just running BBQ for the BP, then it should be fine to nerf and remove its aura rading right? But every killer I've seen refuses to acknowledge that and keeps saying, "No, it's perfectly balanced and well-designed!"

Whatever. You can walk the talk or you can keep quiet.

BBQ is an overtuned perk but nobody wants to admit it.

2 is not a favour, in that extra 30 seconds the KiIler could be in their next game making many more bloodpoints than a single hit gives.

You're one of those glass half empty guys right?

So now I ask you. Why do killers whack the survivor when they're on the hook? Surely in the 5 seconds it took them to whack and clean their knife they could have chased someone and gotten more bloodpoints.

The statement is kinda broad. SB and DH are overused, no doubt, but Lithe and BL no so much. Most of my frustrations in matches happened when I found myself exhausted on the floor, so I decided to use BL instead.

I can go quite a number of matches without using it (thx Shelter Woods and other maps with no drops) and I don't use it to extend chases, but to lose the killer with the sound and scratch marks suppressing effect.

When did they buff BL to suppress scratch marks?

    Otherwise, stick to the topic.

You're not the boss of me.

Also, I don't use exhaustion perks.

Also, Survivors rely too much on exhaustion perks.

Also, you're not the boss of me so you can't tell me what I can say and what I can't.

  • Sounds like you're just burned out from the game.

Play Civ 5 for a while.

  • You are wrong.

Catch-up mechanics in a competitive game are necessary, otherwise the moment one side has an advantage the other just gives up and then nobody has fun.

This is extremely basic Game Design 101. You should learn a bit of it before you talk about what mechanics are design flaws.

This game still has many flaws in its design, but the hatch is not one of them. Neither is NoEd, which is a necessary component of the game.

  • It's good but you aren't winning chases staying at Tier 1.

Tier 3 is so much more powerful and even just Tier 2 makes a huge difference.

Now for fun you can stay at Tier 1, but you should use some add-ons and perks to mitigate the problem of staying at Tier 1. Even then it won't work against high level survivors unless you are on a very favorable map like Lery's.

  • @Woot1234 said:

    Seems busted, no?

    Perk to counter a perk.

So you want a way to counter perks just using your vanilla kit?

Life ain't that kind but actually BHVR is they might just nerf survivors for you if you complain loud enough.
